This is a 1974 Ford Torino Brougham, a poop-brown fleet sedan designed in the aesthetic nadir of 1973. Perfect as a company car for a nursing home inspector, the real McCoy probably smelled like Virginia Slims and McDonalds fries cooked the Old Way. Not a sports car, not the 'Gran' Torino of Starsky and Hutch with beefy haunches and 5-slot aluminum rims. This is a plainer-than-vanilla vehicle where every extant example should now be rusting in the middle of a forty-year-old crushed cube. Why are we resurrecting it now? But wait. Was this car driven by Bosley or the Angels? Maybe Farrah's feathered hair flowing through the open window sold the car? Ah-- 'Corinthian Leather' came out with the 1974 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron. Was this a direct competitor sporting Ford's own leather knockoff? Maybe 'Athenian Leather' product placement? So...after I Googled and Binged, even using ChatGPT, I have no idea why this replica was greenlighted. It turns out this car wasn't driven by any significant or recurring character. It appears in exactly one episode, s1e22, and was a generic police detective's sedan driven by a dirty lieutenant on the vice squad played by Ed Lauter, who got gut-shot at the climax never to be seen again. The car is shown for about a minute of the episode over a few scenes, does not get in any car chase, and does not figure into the plot in any way. The car's only importance is cradling Kate Jackson's behind in the passenger seat for most of its single minute of airtime in a single episode. That's it. But why actually commission a 1/64 scale replica of this homely car surrounding said behind? And for distribution in the Target toy department next to the Hot Wheels loop-de-loops? So many questions. What is the minimum number of units a Target retail corporate purchaser normally acquires? What is the sales demographic for this product other than the utterly confused, except for a few eBay sellers who figure that if a thing has no reason to exist, maybe it's worth double? It's not like a coin's mint error or a misprinted postage stamp, it's a whole object! The whole object should not exist in a rational universe. There’s a site that catalogues movie cars. Here's the car in question, and all cars shown in the whole series. Note that this car isn't even linked to Charlie's Angel's in the above database. So of all the cars in Charlie’s Angels, who greenlighted this replica? Did the company cast lots? Roll dice? Go on a peyote-fueled vision quest? Who is the employee that said, “Alfa Romeo Spider, no… Datsun 280z, no… DANG, I’m gonna model the hell outta that brown 1974 Ford Torino Brougham!” I can't figure it out. Who was proud of shrinking and emulating this automotive and television non-entity? Whose business acumen approved a product with a niche thinner than the paper in a pocket New Testament? The back blurb makes it even better: "A Graduate of the Los Angeles Police Academy, Foxy Jill is a carefree and fun-loving California girl with a great flair for beguiling any male she encounters. She's sporty and athletic, and even goes on to become a champion race car driver." Oh, it’s for Foxy Jill played by Farrah herself, but not the Angel who actually sat in the car. Foxy Jill beguiles any male she encounters. I thought it was via her swimsuit poster, but no, she cruises for males of the species in her hideous sedan. A sedan she never drove in the show. Jill is sporty and athletic. The exact opposite of the packaged car. Maybe the car started out as a Ford GT40 and Jill used vampiric powers to suck out all the sportiness and athleticism and we’re left with the shriveled husk of the Ford Torino Brougham. And finally Foxy Jill goes on to become a champion race car driver. Practicing in this car, that she never drove during that single minute of that single episode. The whole backstory in the blurb for this product is a complete invention and therefore they could pick any one of the myriad of sport cars featured in the show. But no, we must decorate our shelves with the poop-brown 1974 Ford Torino Brougham driven by a one-episode bad guy of the week who was never seen again. They could at least put Ed Lauter's face on the box. I mean.. imagine if a company that makes 1/64 replica cars decided to license Batman from DC, and instead of the Batmobile, commissioned a replica of Bruce Wayne's country club golf cart. That's what this is. Someone please tell me why this collectable exists. |

The engine blew in our 09 Vauxhall Astra - ding dong the witch is dead. I've hated this car since we got it 6 years ago. It always seemed to be in and out of the shop, had an ongoing oil leak that even after getting it fixed, seemed to come back, it caused me to fail my roadtest at one point because of a tail-light that was out (literally just after having been replaced). Not to mention, it was pretty ugly.
For the record, we live in Ireland (and don't want to import from the north) and our budget for a new-to-us car is €5 - €7.000 preferably from 2012+.

- Sterilization. We completely halt the millions of dollars in revenue made from selling hunting licenses (used to support conservation efforts) and ask the state for money to fund the sterilization of ~450,000 adult deer that would've been hunted. Then we wait and hope the population evens out over the next 10 years before the environment is damaged by a surplus of about 5 million adult white tailed deer
- Reintroduction of natural predators. Yes, more wolves in the suburbs would be readily welcomed! I'm sure they can differentiate a deer from your kids. Let's get plenty in the city of Pittsburgh, where we have a high number of Lyme disease cases due to the deer population. Introduction of wolves in the city couldn't go wrong.
- Kill them by other means. Again we revoke the millions of dollars in revenue made by the sales of hunting licenses to kill ~450,000 deer a year in some other manner, then use the carcasses that would've been eaten by families for ...?? Not to mention the US department of agriculture already sends in shooters to kill massive amounts of deer each year and donate the meat to food banks

We opened up a debit card in my wife's name with BOA but haven't bothered getting her a credit card, so I was looking at the Venture X because another member can use it without having to pay a fee (so I want my wife to use it to build her credit), but based on my traveling I don't know if it's worth it. Details are below.
I pay everything on time, and we've been working on my one salary for 2 years. Now that she can get a job since she got her permanent residence, I assume we'll travel more but I don't know if that justifies paying for the Venture X, $395, or to just go with Chase Sapphire because it's $95.

In the future, I have family in Los Angeles, Italy, and friends in Denmark I want to visit but I can't afford any of this now.

 | We purchased a new 17F kelvar ultralight last fall at a end of season sale from one of the local outfitters. Today when I took her out for her first spin I noticed what looks to be a shatter point in the gel coat. It's pretty small now but I worry about strain on the hull during car transport or the inevitable rock scrapes. While not a novice canoer, it my first owned canoe. It was stored in the garage all winter "properly" and we cant think of anything that would have caused the crack. Parkings
The car parks open at 6:30 a.m. on Friday and at 6:00 am on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cannot be purchased at the entrances to the car parks. Anyone wishing to park their vehicle must have purchased a parking ticket in advance. The car parks close at night and vehicles may not be left parked overnight.
For this edition of the F1 Grand Prix and in order to speed up the entrance to the Circuit, there will be no assigned car parks, but a dynamic parking system will be implemented. This means that, once you arrive near the venue, the controllers will direct you to the available area closest to the accesses according to the capacity in real time and the volume of cars.
Pit Walk
The Pit Walk will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with access to any type of GP entry (Tribuna, Pelouse, Pelouse Jove, Circuit Members and Officials). On this day, the parking for vehicles will be free in the Circuit area.

It was...plain. Brown hair, white skin, and vague facial features made up the head, while the body was a t-shirt and jeans.
It felt like the Nike Off-Whites of Funko Pops.
"I gotta ask, what do you do with all the money you make off making these?" I asked off-handedly.
"Save money, but I always splurge a bit. Tonight, I'll probably buy a roast ham for my family if you buy this one. It's a milestone."
In my mind, I suddenly held the power of life over some distant pig, a dirty thing that was treated poorly until the time came to hack it apart. I would certainly never do such a thing myself, a half-eaten salad sitting on the front passenger seat of my car.
"You've got yourself a deal," I said as I handed over the money.

The Funko Pop pair in my hands were unique in that both were considered part of the same product.
The first had blue hair and fancy glasses over its feminine features. The cheeks were slightly bubbled. Tiny dots along the t-shirt indicated a host of pins and stickers, while its right hand held a cell phone up at the viewer. If I turned it, the screen was painted to look like it was writing a short bird message. There was some sentence about believing science on whatever space was left of the t-shirt.
The second had soft red hair and freckles. The eyes and mouth were curled into a smile, giving it a grandfatherly-expression. The clothes were that of a cowboy, but I could make out the words about making the nation great again on the shirt.
"You know who these two people are, right?" I asked the seller.
"Yeah."
"Didn't this one literally set a hospital on fire?"
"And the other killed someone at the same protest, yeah."
"And you don't think it's weird to make figures about them?"
"Nothing weird about it. I'd be a fucking idiot to not try and cash in on currently trending people. What's weird are the people who come to buy it."
"What about them is weird?"
"Well, some are outright buying it because of what they did at that protest. The other type just buys it because they liked what those people did before the protest."
I nodded in understanding. Both were renowned philanthropists, responsible for funding education, housing, and medical facilities for the impoverished. Even my grandmother, who didn't pay attention to the news, effusively praised them.
"What about collectors who just want a full collection? Like me?"
"To be honest, you struck me initially as the kind of person who buys things because other people hate it."
Ouch.
"You've got yourself a deal," I said as I handed over the money.

This Funko Pop's hair was longer than I had expected, the blonde curls extending to the waist. I did like, however, that the book in its left hand was in pristine condition, that was hard to get and why I had driven so far to get it. Also, the business shirt and skirt looked damn cute.
"Kinda weird to see one for her," I remarked.
"I don't, uh, follow? Sorry, it just feels totally normal that they made one for her. I mean, fuck TERFs and all that, but she is a billionaire." The seller squinted at me. "Are you a TERF? I don't sell to them."
"No, no, not at all. Just found it weird, that's all. It's just, the reason she's famous is way old now. It had its moment, who cares now?"
"Yeah, but all the kids who read her stuff grew up and can now buy movie tickets and merchandise. Like a Funko Pop," they said, gesturing to the figure in my hand.
"True, true. Are you-"
"Listen, I'm very busy. Are you going to buy it or not?"
"Sorry, just checking one last thing. I thought you said in your text you'd be free all day, though? Just wondering, that's all."
"She," the seller pointed at the figure, "is coming to this town to talk about how everyone needs to tell their representative to vote a certain way on that one bill, and I don't want to be in this place when she gives her hateful rant. I'm only here because you're the only one willing to buy this from me, everyone else I know won't touch it."
It made sense, I supposed.
"You've got yourself a deal," I said as I handed over the money. Untraceable at the seller's insistence, since officially tracked re-sales sent a portion of the money to the depicted person.

I frowned at the figure in my hand. The hair looked even more painted on than official images suggested. It was as if a black sharpie had been used on the chocolate skin instead of permanent paint. Still, at least the red clothes and skull necklace didn't look as cheap.
"So...Hey, HEY! Can you turn that down a bit!" I shouted at the seller.
They turned the music down. "Sorry, what were you saying?"
"Uh...I forgot. But that was his famous song, right?" I pointed at the figure.
"He's got multiple famous albums, my friend. But yes, it was his music. I have all his stuff."
"Neat. How come you're selling this, then? Do you not like Funko Pops?"
"Nah. That's for kids to play with." They paused. "Or collectors to buy, sorry."
I waved it off with my other hand. "Did you hear about what he said recently?"
"What are you referring to?"
"He was talking about how he would ensure all people of certain religions were removed from government positions."
"Oh, really? I guess I need to catch up on the news. I drove a while to get here, so..."
"Right. You've got yourself a deal," I said as I handed over the money. I knew a portion of it would undoubtedly find its way into the depicted person's political campaign.

He rolled his eyes. "Yes, I'm Adolf Hitler. The man who ordered six million Jews and many others killed. I started World War 2 and got resettled here as a condition of surrendering."
"Huh. So...why are you dealing in Funko Pops?"
"I'm trying to establish myself as an artist, and making custom figurines pays well. Do you want it or not?"
"...Out of curiosity, what do you do with all the money you make? I saw that you made several hundred thousand just last year alone."
"Fund my local Neo-Nazi chapter. They killed two undesirables last month, I really wish they wouldn't slack like that. Anyway, do you want it or not?"
I stared at him for a moment, then down at the figure.

I'm only here because you're the only one willing to buy this from me, everyone else I know won't touch it."
It made sense, I supposed.
"You've got yourself a deal," I said as I handed over the money. Untraceable at the seller's insistence, since officially tracked re-sales sent a portion of the money to the depicted person.

I frowned at the figure in my hand. The hair looked even more painted on than official images suggested. It was as if a black sharpie had been used on the chocolate skin instead of permanent paint. Still, at least the red clothes and skull necklace didn't look as cheap.
"So...Hey, HEY! Can you turn that down a bit!" I shouted at the seller.
They turned the music down. "Sorry, what were you saying?"
"Uh...I forgot. But that was his famous song, right?" I pointed at the figure.
"He's got multiple famous albums, my friend. But yes, it was his music. I have all his stuff."
"Neat. How come you're selling this, then? Do you not like Funko Pops?"
"Nah. That's for kids to play with." They paused. "Or collectors to buy, sorry."
I waved it off with my other hand. "Did you hear about what he said recently?"
"What are you referring to?"
"He was talking about how he would ensure all people of certain religions were removed from government positions."
"Oh, really? I guess I need to catch up on the news. I drove a while to get here, so..."
"Right. You've got yourself a deal," I said as I handed over the money. I knew a portion of it would undoubtedly find its way into the depicted person's political campaign.

He rolled his eyes. "Yes, I'm Adolf Hitler. The man who ordered six million Jews and many others killed. I started World War 2 and got resettled here as a condition of surrendering."

"I'm trying to establish myself as an artist, and making custom figurines pays well. Do you want it or not?"
"...Out of curiosity, what do you do with all the money you make? I saw that you made several hundred thousand just last year alone."
"Fund my local Neo-Nazi chapter. They killed two undesirables last month, I really wish they wouldn't slack like that. Anyway, do you want it or not?"
I stared at him for a moment, then down at the figure.
"You've got yourself a deal," I said as I handed over the money.

As I drove home that day, I looked at the plastic box placed where the passenger's feet would be. It had been empty when I started and was now totally full. In terms of collecting, it had been a spectacular success.
A part of me wondered just how stained my soul had become this day.

This might be long. 39f this all started a few weeks before my 37th birthday. So one day I randomly got dizzy after a day out. So I laid down felt better after 30 min sat up and then stood up. Got a quick intense wave like feeling in my head, tingling in feet up my hold body, super hot, heart racing and pounding, legs shaking. Feeling faint but never do(i have fainted years ago 4 timesso i know the feeling) Called 911 ambo took a while to get there but when they did I was so scared, and my bp was high, hr was 177. They took me to the hospital hr was 130s and the hospital said SVT. Well saw cardiologist they went along with it. Was on meds that made me super sick came off had an ep study no svt found. But this has happened a few times feb-april of 2021 they didnt last long 30 seconds- 1 min. 1 time at the ER it happened and they didnt catch SVT on the monitor either. I was also diagnosed with PPPD and anxiety a few months later as I was constantly feeling like I was rocking on a boat/swaying. Those episodes stopped for the longest time. Fwd to this year. And BAM randomly and out of no where. Wave feeling, tingling in the mouth and a weird taste, heart racing, legs shaky(wobble). Now today I had out of no where just chillen in the car felt funny for a second, then bam weird taste and mouth tingling, heart racing.
Ive had a clear MRI and Ct scan 2 echos, stress test and a loop recorder, loop recorder shows my heart rate going up but no arythmia. Docs from 2021 say, Anxiety, SVT(even though nothing was ever caught), Maybe vasovagal. VITAMINS and thyroids are all good.
Moved to new state, saw cardiologist, really isn't finding anything except like tachycardia when this happens sending me for TTT but that isn't until oct. . New Neurologist gave me an EEG, bc pcp thought focal Siezures that came out normal, autoimmune blood work normal, waiting on lymes results although i dont remember getting bit by tick. He also talked about dysautonomia but that doctor takes 6-8m to get into. Pcp and Therapist says not anxiety related and I actually have anxiety due to not knowing what in the world is going on.
Also randomly and usually at the docs my bp will spike, heart rate jumps and I start sweating so much until I leave. Thats where I think the anxiety plays in. But it happens certain times I go and certain docs its so weird. Oh and hair loss as well, non scarring alopecia if that has anything to do with other symptoms. Also whats baffling to them and me is how random these epsiodes or flare ups as ive heard them being called has been happening. I can be completely fine and then BAM.
And I noticed with a couple of the recent ones the PPPD acts up days or even weeks before it hits.
I have been told before im just a mystery which im like lucky me 🙄 Im scared and frustrated not at rhe docs but at my body and bc they cant figure it out depsite trying.
Meds Buspirone started sept 2021 Valium if needed Tried propranolol but isnt working Womans 1 a day vitamin Baby asprin which i might be coming off soon(Lupus anticoagulant which can come and go, weakly positive) Folic acid(Homocysteine elevated 12.2)
I also still get the PPPD feeling but starting to really wonder 🤔 And Idk if it has any correlation either but I do have periodontal disease in my gums which has been under control for sometime now. Never had covid that I know of, nox vaxxed, and no infections before this started.

Proud former owners of a 2005 4Runner Limited V8, purchased to tow an old Airstream trailer we lived out of on the road for a year starting in 2019 (yes, weird times during the pandemic). We sold it last year with 275,000 miles and bought a new 2022 RAV4 Hybrid SE, wanting to stay in the Toyota family. We really wanted the XSE with a hitch and a couple technology options, but were told by our dealer that the high trims were impossible to get. After turning down lower spec options, 5 months was long enough to wait and we took the SE.
After 6 months, we were bummed with the first new car purchased both of us had ever made. The cloth seats were scratchy and clung to every dog hair, the infotainment felt the same as my 2009 Prius, and worst of all the MPG was a disappointing ~35 (mostly winter, mostly short trips in town).
We randomly stopped in to check out the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and ended up trading the RAV in for one the very next day. After incentives the Ioniq came out to the same $42,500 sale price that our RAV was (after $2,500 dealer markup and options) and they gave us almost MSRP on trade.

Dealership has 2019 Hyundai Elantra for sale. sticker price is $12,394, 129k miles. It was previously a company car that looks to be consistently well maintained, according to the history report that the dealership provided. Clean title, no accidents/damage. They crunched the numbers for me and determined that my payments would be $250/mo for 60 mo (8.99% apr, most likely cause I'm a first time bar buyer, credit otherwise is decent). Affordability is a non issue; the payments fit well within my monthly budget. I'm also putting 3k down. Dealership said they just got the car in today and still need to inspect it and take car of any issues before they actually sell it. The main thing that concerns me is the mileage. Does this actually sound like a good deal or should I walk away since the milage is already pretty high? Are Hyundais able to last a long time, possibly to 200k miles?

The blade opens with a flipper or a spydie flick and is super satisfying. Drops-ish shut, but could break in just a little. Comes with Box and taco and civivi stuff.

An hour later, was still chasing a decent edge. Took it down to 120, back all the way up to 1000 and shit started to shine. Figured what the hell and broke out the buffing tape and gave it a lightsaber glow of an edge. See pics for the serviceable mirror on it.
Action is great, shit swings. Button lock is clean with no stick at all.
If you ask nicely, I’ll even include the enviably rad rings from my birthday cake.
