For me this usually starts off with a life story, about a woman (aka me) on a Friday or Saturday night pondering on life as it is. Wondering why at 32 years old, I’m sitting at home, alone & pretty f*cking lonely. Instead it’s a Monday night, after a busy day at work & leg day at the gym trying to stop myself staring every minute at my gym crush.
I’ve become so content in my own company where my norm is taking myself out on dinner dates, spending a stupid amount of time at the gym & scrolling mindlessly through reddit or even dare I say it, tik tok.
Don’t get me wrong, I have friends who are basically family, a small group, a loyal group, people I probably couldn’t live with out, I also have a loving family, however I’ve always felt there’s one thing missing, that thing being my person, my “one true love” hahaha. As corny & sappy as that sounds I suppose it’s what I desire the most.
What I’ve found difficult though is finding another that is on the same page, that I vibe with, that I can just talk to endlessly about anything without it really feeling like a chore. You know the type of connection where your heart skips a beat, you get excited to hear from them & you can’t wait to share nearly every aspect of your life.
The problem I face on a regular basis though is trying to date in a pool of men who are either way out of my league, living on the other side of world or just wanting to dip their d into a moist v.
So here I am… again. Single & ready to find someone to do life with, so if you’re actually interested in taking the plunge, then read on to find out a little about me.
I’m 32 Living in Sydney, Australia. Born in New Zealand. I work full time. I decided I was sick of being miserable & hating on myself… so nearly a year ago, I decided I was going to start walking every day, which I have mostly done (except when covid knocked me about), I eventually joined a gym & realised I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I did. I’ve lost a decent amount of weight, but still thiccc af haha (I’m working on it) I love to travel & have booked a trip for the end of the year. I game here & there & for the first time this year, I’ve been doing things a little out of my comfort zone, building confidence in myself & living life a little differently.
I’m happy… for the first time ever, so I’d love to share that with another.

Honestly, I am so tired of having relationships that feel like they only take from me. Taking my emotional energy, draining me of my social battery, adding nothing really to my life... all of these reasons are why I would rather just be alone and away from people. I used to think that maybe I didn't like people altogether but I think I just don't like these types of relationships. I actually really like the kinds of relationships that feel low effort, the types of connections where you can literally spend so much time together and not even be doing much of anything. There are no expectations for you to do or be anything or anyone. It's just freeing to have these relationships in your life in comparison to the other kinds that only take take take from you.
In my last posts, I was very sad and wanted to give up on relationships altogether, but after a lot of the responses from very nice people on this subreddit, I have changed my mind. After reflecting on the kinds of relationships I would like to have in my life, I realized that I love these easier and less demanding kinds of relationships with people. The only real problem I have is that I tend to attract people who need things from me. It's weird because I feel like they sense that I can provide that emotional support and that, in a way, healing to them.
I think the best way forward is to just be mindful that people are drawn to me in this type of way and to make sure I don't let myself give of myself too much to them. I don't want to be anyone's hero or savior or healer. I want to live my own life and have people around me who just want to do the same. I rarely ever need emotional support from other people because I would rather do that work on my own so as to not burden anyone or pull anyone into all of my inner chaos. It never really helps to let people in because they either get really overwhelmed by the depths of my emotionality, or they just struggle to understand where I am coming from so I end up just feeling even more alone.
The different approach I am speaking of is this, I want to show up as whole, content, and innerly fulfilled on my own so that when I show up in relationships I am not coming from a place of needing to take or fulfill any needs through other people. I don't want to show up in relationships with expectations from other people, like "I need you to respond to my text immediately or else I will be sad" or "I need you to listen to me and provide me with emotional support or else you are a bad friend/partneetc. to me."
I guess an easier way of putting it is "I will take care of me and you will take care of you." Rather than the previous way of "I need you to take care of me and I will take care of you." I am so done with that outdated relationship dynamic. I will be responsible for meeting all of my needs and I only hope to find others who are capable and self aware enough to do the same. That's all. :)

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, I am just trying to sort out my thoughts and maybe get some insight from others.
For some background context: I have been dating my boyfriend for over a year. We met in high school but have done long distance for most of our relationship since I moved across the province. We are both each other's first partners. We are in a culture where people marry young and date to marry, so it is not uncommon for people to take dating very seriously and if they can't see themselves spending the rest of their life with their partner they break up.
I have seriously loved this guy for a year now. I thought he was the one for me. My family thinks he's a nice enough guy, but also think I could do better. We both graduated last year and I moved out to go to university while he decided to stay at home, take a gap year and work on his mental health. He is enrolled in university for this fall, but only because his father made him and just assigned a program to him. I know that he plans to just take basic courses this year and then change into a program he actually cares about. I am completely fine with gap years and taking care of your mental health, even not getting a higher education. The thing that bothers me is that he has no goals. No aspirations, no idea of what field he even wants to do. He has no hobbies outside of video games and says he doesn't want to become a game developer or anything of the sort.
I am a very ambitious person, I want to start my own business and have had a plan for my future since middle school. It's hard for me to be with someone like that.
We don't talk about it very often because he kind of gets sharp with me and I am very sensitive to things like that. He doesn't mean to hurt me it's just that I am the one there trying to help.
This is the one thing I am uncertain about. I know that we are young and have barely started life but I just want to make sure I'm not making the wrong choice by being with him. I love him, I truly do but things have just felt different to me recently.
I know that no one is perfect, but I want to be the one to wait for him and help him grow into himself. I don't know how long I can wait without seeing anything happen though.
any advice?

Are you self aware enough to accept whatever the results may be this evening? If we consider this a fair democracy, If the party you voted for does not win, that on average the people of Alberta think differently than yourself. That does not mean that they are stupid and you are smart. It means that your parties platform and stance does not align with the average person in Alberta, and needs to make some changes if they are interested in aligning with the majority. You are the divergent one if your party loses. People will vote for what benefits them the most, and to downplay their intelligence because you don't agree with them makes you ignorant.

So me and some of my friends were out smoking the other day when one of them brought their Asian friend, let’s just call him Dave. After about 8-10 gs smoked between the 5 of us, Dave starts to say he can’t really see, us being obliterated, we thought it was a funny haha racist joke he was saying.
After about another 30 min Dave turns to us and tells us in a concerning tone, “bro I really can’t fucking see, like I’m looking thru a pinhole”. Of course we all laugh hysterically as he continues to freak out about not being able to see, we all thought he was just REALLY high and fucking with us. (Btw we were all at my one friends house ,AJ let’s say). We start to pack up our stuff to leave AJs house, meanwhile Dave is now passed out on the couch with his bag of Doritos in hand, and I’m getting his stuff ready for him.
Anyways, me, Dave, and the friend that originally brought Dave eventually got to my place. Now Dave finally being out of his 4 hour long weed coma tells us, that his vision is coming back. We both comfort him telling him he was just tripping out, but instead of him being clueless now he tells us that’s a side effect of getting high as an Asian; his eyes get so droopy that you can’t see past your own eyelids.
And that’s my story, at first I thought it was a funny comment he through out. But now I’m really sitting here thinking “Can asians really not see when they get THAT high”

It's for an HOA foreclosure auction. All that's needed to get the title is satisfying the judgement against the possibly soon to be former owners of the property. Their judgement for past due HOA fees is about 1% of the homes market value! Should I win, that same day I'd have to pay the fees associated with winning. I only have a loose idea of what that number could be. I have a little room in my pockets for surprise costs that could pop up though. A little...
My true concern is that the next day when the remaining funds are due (deposit has been made), I may run short. Running short will forfeit my bid and I lose the fees paid AND the deposit (Hypothetically speaking of course). The 6k is to cover that gap should I actually win. I am no real estate investor. I don't flip homes. I stumbled onto an auction site while looking for a 1bdrm apt. Rent in my city is getting out of hand and I was not okay with the thought of 18k, being the grand total spent at the end of a year's lease. And then to not be any closer to owning it? I couldn't do it ya'll. I had to make the cents make sense. Somehow I ended up looking at foreclosures on county websites till the wee hours of the morning. I fell asleep and woke up to this gem of a deal.

The merchant sighs. “One plum for three drinoc, that’s the cost,” he declares through the purifier. Sun scorches down on the packed, arid market, with little pockets of shade under the awnings and through alleyways. The two gutterkids in front of the stall fall to bickering and swapping chits back and forth, as the merchant sighs again. He runs a bony hand through his hair, shaking loose some of the ever-present plastic dust.
“Listen, either make a decision and buy, or you let me place the merchandise back in the hermetic. Your drinoc’ll do me no good if the whole batch tastes of plastic.” The taller boy nods, then slaps three iron chits into the merchant’s hand and quickly grabs a plum. The bony fingers don’t let go, however, and only tighten. “Put it back,” rasps the wispy voice behind the mask. Fear flashes quickly in his eyes as the boy complies, withdrawing the hidden plum from a sun-scorched sleeve, all dyes long since bleached from the fabric. The smaller boy’s eyes begin to water, both fabric and skin drained of color, and quickly looks back and forth between older brother and the purple fruit. He knows which sibling will eat tonight.
A gust of wind flaps the awning above. The merchant releases the boy’s clasped hand, waving a dismissive gesture with a clicking sound. They don’t move. The moisture on the younger’s cheeks begin to attract particulates in the air, mixing the plastic colors into a pastel mud, as he stares at the older gutterkid with slight panic. The merchant exhales, then withdraws a stumpy paring knife from his own sun-bleached tunic. Both boys take a hesitant step back, as he reaches forward and grasps the previously stolen plum. He expertly glides the paring knife through the center and around the flesh, careful not to dull the blade on the stone within. With a twist the one plum becomes two parts, a single drop of thick juice sliding down the blade.
The merchant detaches the clamp on his purifier and swings the front forward, revealing a worn yet friendly face, pasty white contrasting with the darker brown of his forehead and eye sockets. He removes the stone from the fruit and pops it into his mouth, storing within his cheek and savoring what little saliva it produces. Watching intently, the eldest boy involuntarily licks plastic dust off his lips. Reaching over the makeshift table with half the purple plum, the merchant proffers it to the smaller boy, who lunges forward and snatches it before quickly disappearing into the crowd.
Wiping the blade with a purple-stained cloth, he resheaths it within the tunic. After a moment, the elder brother rasps out a polite expression of gratitude, unknown in language but contextually understood all the same. Then, he is gone as well, blending in amongst the throng of market-goers and oxygen tanks. Another rush of hot wind buffets the fabrics of the stall’s awning, and with it a cascade of dust particulates. Quickly, the merchant throws the plastic sheeting back over the batch of plums and drags the small tray into the sealed hermetic. He flips a switch on the side of the machine and it begins to hiss and burble, becoming more high-pitched and quieter until the seal is complete. He spits the stone from his cheek onto the dust floor of the stall. The three drinoc coins are dropped into a biometric lockbox filled with an assortments of iron chits. “12 more to go” the merchant mutters, involuntarily glancing at the picture stapled to the stand’s wooden beam. Though faded, it is still possible to see a lively woman and beaming boy, posing theatrically in front of a large plum tree. “12 more to go.” he repeats, and sighs again.

Grimm returned with an armful of items and got to work. He poured black powder on the ground, forming a large circle, then made an outer ring around the black circle with white powder. He set a handful of items into the inner circle: an hourglass, a ceramic jar filled with rice wine, and a scrap of parchment. He gestured to Benvolio and Walter, having them each stand, positioned like the points of a triangle outside of the outer circle.
“Whatever you do, do not cross into or damage the circle, it can release her spirit.” Grimm spoke solemnly.
Grimm untied the small skull from his belt. He began to recite words which initially sounded like gibberish to Walter. However, after a few seconds of lag, the enchantment on Walter interpreted the words.
“Spirit of the great mage Andromeda Chronos, we request your counsel. Come to us in the light of the stars and the light of the moonlight. We have prepared a drink for you and parchment for your thoughts. We request your presence to venture from the underworld and let your spirit visit us in the land of the living. We seek thy wisdom, oh great and powerful mage.” As Grimm spoke the timber of his voice changed and his voice lowered from its natural baritone to an otherworldly bass.
The cool spring air plummeted in temperature, to the chill of winter. Walter could see his breath. Steam rose off Benvolio’s’ scales. The ground shook, and the campfire they lit began to dim. In fact, the interior of the summoning circle seemed to darken, devoid of the light cast by the fire, the stars, or other sources. The hourglass levitated into the air, turned so the sand was on top, and then landed back on the ground. The ceramic jar lifted into the air, was emptied into the void of darkness, then fell with a light thud. Then, what could only be described as an energy in the air, made its presence known.
Walter’s stomach tensed with anxiety. After Grimm’s warnings he could only imagine what terrible entity might appear. From the darkness appeared a silvery specter. She was small in stature, somewhere between three and four feet tall. Her body was thin, bony. Her spectral clothes appeared to be a comfortable frock and sensible shoes. There was a cane at her side. Her mouth opened in a wide grin, revealing rows of sharp teeth. Her face was flat, and her ears were pointy. A small pair of spectacles sat perched at the edge of her nose. Her hair was hastily gathered up in a messy tangle on the top of her head.
“Well, hello there.” Her voice was gravelly, but her tone musical. She smiled. Despite her vicious-looking teeth, her expression was surprisingly matronly. Oddly enough, she vaguely reminded Walter of his mother.
“Greetings, oh great mage. I am Benvolio, son of Bellissima of the Ashen Mountains. I am honored to make your acquaintance.” Benvolio lowered his snout and curled his tail in front of his body, as though moving an arm in front of oneself when bowing.
“Ah, one of Bellissima’s hatchlings, how delightful.” Andromeda clapped her spectral hands together. “Your mother was a very good friend of mine. Oh, we used to plot such shenanigans. I remember one time a group of ogres tried to intimidate some of the folks in my village. They assumed that because we goblins are small that we are defenseless creatures. You should have seen their expressions when I struck one of them dead with a lightning bolt.” She paused, breaking out into a gleeful cackle. After a minute of laughing to herself, she slapped her knee and wiped away a tear of laughter. “They were most startled indeed, frozen in fear. Then I summoned Bellissima, climbed upon her back and the two of us chased them for a good five or so leagues.”
“Andromeda, if I may be so bold, we require information from you.” Benvolio spoke, hoping to direct the conversation to the matter at hand.
“Ah yes, everyone always wants to learn how to cast my spells or know my fig nut bread recipe. Normally I do not divulge such precious secrets, but as your mother was a dear friend, I suppose I shall oblige your request.” Andromeda smiled.
“Thank you, great mage.” Benvolio replied.
“Well then, grab some parchment and a quill, it starts off with about a handful of chopped nuts, and three handfuls of dried figs.” Andromeda proceeded to rattle off her fig nut bread recipe. Benvolio and the others tried to stop her from speaking but every time they tried to stop her, she would continue as though she didn’t hear them. Walter’s eyes drifted to the hourglass, watching the sands slide down to the bottom. There was still time, but it was limited “And that, dearies, is how you bring warmth and flavor to your home with the alchemy of the humble fig.”
“Excuse me.” Walter spoke up. Andromeda’s eyes darted to him, she raised an eyebrow and tilted her head, the mop of hair on her head shifting as she did so. “My name is Walter. Thank you for the recipe. I would very much like to make it for my daughter and grandson back home. For you see, I seem to have stumbled into a strange land far from my own world, and I would very much like to return to my family. Do you have children or grandchildren, Andromeda?”
“Alas, no, I was always too preoccupied with my work to fuss with things like marriage or children. However, I have a godson, Sirris. The poor lad grew up with nothing really, but he had the talent. I enjoyed mentoring him in my twilight years, before I passed. He and Bellissima were my two best students. I recall the heartache I felt when my dear Bellissima was slain by some arrogant humans with enchanted weapons—curse the artificer who armed them. It is unbearable to be parted from your dear ones. I will help you get home to see your family, but first, speaking of my godson, has anyone here heard of my dear young Sirris?”
“He is the Dark Lord of Bythica, he has conquered all seven kingdoms of the northern continent. He is feared and reviled amongst men, one of the greatest evils our world has ever known.” Grimm responded.
“Good for him!” Andromeda smiled. “Such an ambitious boy, I am overjoyed to hear of his triumphs since my passing.” Andromeda clapped her hands together. Grimm’s face showed visible displeasure at the reaction. “Now, back to business, how can I assist with Walter’s return?”
“Great mage, your spell, Locus Cordis. My mother cast it on me the day she was slain. I was whisked away to another land. I was there for a time before the magic brought me back home. I believe the world I was sent to is the same as Walter’s world, it seems no coincidence, then, that a gateway opened, and Walter stumbled into our world.”
“That is certainly no coincidence,” Andromeda confirmed. “Of the portal spells, only Sirris showed a talent for the more difficult spells to create portals to precise gateways. There is Tempus et spatium, but that is not a targeted spell. It sends an individual through time and space for a few months, but it is rather random. I suspect past lives, or some manner of the like, may have something to do with it, but I never did get conclusive results when testing said spell. But Locus Cordis, the words of which are from the language of another world, translates roughly to ‘the place of the heart’. The spell searches across worlds and galaxies until it finds deep emotional connection between the being it is cast on and another entity.”
“Ah yes,” The corners of Benvolio’s mouth turned up in a sad smile. “That is why I was taken to where I was. Loss of a parent. My path crossed with a girl in Illinois who had lost her mother.” Upon these words Walter looked up. Walter reached for his backpack and began to rummage through it. His grandson, Sam, had a habit of stuffing things into his bag. Walter reached into his bag and pulled out a musty, dilapidated old stuffed animal, the shape no longer recognizable. Walter remembered playing with it himself when he was little. However, he could never figure out what sort of animal it was supposed to have been, as it had been in the family for decades. It had been his mother’s prized possession long ago. She had named it Benny after some cherished pet she had. It. Couldn’t. Be.
“Benvolio, does the name Samantha mean anything to you?” Walter asked. Benvolio straightened, his wings extending.
“How do you know that name?” Benvolio asked, intrigued and hopeful. A sad smile washed over Walter’s face.
“It’s my mother’s name,” Walter explained. “My daughter Beth named her son Sam in honor of her.” Walter held up the dilapidated stuffed animal his grandson left in his bag. The red color had faded over the decades, the stuffing falling out of one side. “And I think, just maybe, this thing used to look like a dragon, and she named it Benny after you.”

Hey IDers! I've spent hours watching every video, browsing this subreddit and going thru the entire manual. These are the last few questions I have about my ID4 (2022 Pro S) that I CANNOT figure out. They're probably super simple but would love your help!
- How do you END CALLS!?
I've got Apple CarPlay in my car and I've been trying to find a way to end calls using just the steering wheel controls. I already know the "OK" button lets me answer calls, but is there a way to hang up without having to navigate back to the phone app on the screen?
- What is the difference between the "I", "wrench", and "sos" buttons!? Subscription!?
I haven't subscribed to any extra services, but I noticed that whenever I press one of these, it starts dialing. First of all, what is the difference for each of these? And in case of an emergency, would this feature still work? Or are these icons essentially useless to me without a paid subscription? For what it's worth, my VW app does show that I have remote access until 2028 and "plus nav & plus speech" until 2026. Any idea what this all means?
- Massage Intensity
According to the manual, and even a video an official VW video, you can adjust the massage intensity by clicking the massage button twice. But whenever I try this, it only toggles the massage on and off. Anyone else experience this? Also, any way to make it come on automatically with my seat setting?
- Drive modes: custom - what do different options mean?
I'm a bit puzzled about the custom mode settings. Specifically, what's the difference between "driving dynamics" and "drivetrain"? I'm trying to get more acceleration (thinking sport might help with this), but I'd prefer everything else to be in comfort mode. To be honest, I've been fiddling with these settings but can't really feel a difference. Could you explain what these settings are all about?
