I’ve noticed that I’m in a season of my life that’s very different. That’s the only way I can explain it. I’m 21 years old, my boyfriend is also 21. We are both born again believers and on the same page when it comes to most everything. We communicate very well, we are very honest and open with each other, we don’t have a-lot of conflict, we are very loving and gentle with each other and we have also made a commitment to wait for marriage. We encourage each other to grow in Christ and remind each other to pray and read our Bibles every day. We have a very healthy relationship. We are very happy with each other and I truly feel like God has blessed me with him. We want to get married soon. I don’t care if we have a big wedding or if we just go to the courthouse and get it finalized. I just know this is the man God wants for me. That being said, I’ve always been very reliant on my family. I’ve always been very close with my family. I consider my mother and my sister in law to be my best friends. They are! Since I’ve fallen in love and made a commitment to my boyfriend, I’ve become more reliant on him and God, rather than my family. This is a big deal, because I’ve always been way too reliant on my family whether it be for emotional needs or financial needs. Now, I feel I’ve matured, because I want to have my own life with my fiancé. This is what I’m supposed to do, my husband is supposed to come first. Of course I’m practicing that now, because he’s my future husband. Jesus comes first, then my fiancé of course! I have my own home that my parents paid for, which I’m so grateful for! However, I need to get my house done- the electric, plumbing, etc. I plan on helping my parents pay for it, but I’ve never wanted my own space so badly until now. My family has expressed being upset that I “don’t hang out” as much. They often show that they are upset about how much thought and time I put into my fiancé… but I feel as though this is normal behavior, you’re kind of supposed to cleave unto your spouse. My family, I feel, just doesn’t like the fact that I’m growing up and leaving the nest. I’m the youngest and I’m a girl lol, so I try to understand, but they also complain that I need to grow up and things like that…. But when I try, they get mad. I’ve been spending more time alone, often outside listening to gospel music, praying, playing with our goats, etc. I just do things on my own, even though I’m not even leaving our property, everyone is upset that I “Ignore” or “Avoid” them but that’s not what I’m doing. I need time alone, I am naturally preparing for my marriage without realizing it… until now. I spend more time alone, I spend more time with Jesus, I’m trying to get my house fixed up, so that when I do marry my fiancé, he can move in and we’ll have our own home and we can start our family. I just want to know if I’m in the wrong for this, my family makes me feel really guilty about putting my fiancé before them. & I want to know if it’s normal to prepare for your spouse by spending more time independently & with Christ. Prayer always helps, so I ask for prayers as well. For a happy, healthy, God centered marriage. I also ask that you pray for my family.. & I just want them to let me grow up.

Tried posting this a few min ago, and all the text in the post disappeared. 😭
Re-posting now, minus the full packing list because I just can't. 🫠
This was my first true one-bagging excursion as a historical over-packer, and I'm really proud of myself! I've been really inspired by everyone's posts here for the last few months that I've been lurking. It was really fun to finally put all the tips I've gleaned into action.
The trip was just an extended weekend to visit my friend in Los Angeles. We were planning a variety of activities...from sailing, to casual beach walks, to dining at nice restaurants. This made for a slightly challenging pack into the single "personal item" allotted for my flight. I spent 2 evenings prior to my trip trying on different combinations of clothing to sort out which pieces to bring for optimal interchangeability. 😅
I used my old standby Timbuk2 laptop commuter bag that I've had for over a decade. It fit the airline's size requirements and worked out nicely! It was great to be able to use something I already had for my main bag. Also brought 2 small bags--this Wilderdog utility pack for my in-flight essentials and this Envelope Convertible Cross-body bag from Portland Leather. I was ready to stuff the hip pack into my backpack if needed, but didn't get any flack for it when I boarded.
Some of you might remember this post I made about trying to find my unicorn hip-pack/cross-body bag. I ended up finding this Wilderdog pack after making that post, and am pretty happy with it! Was also glad to have the nicer purse with me, which helped to dress up some of my more casual clothing. It's super slim, so it easily slipped into the laptop sleeve of my backpack when it was empty. Kudos to the commenter who recommended it on someone else's post in this sub! (I tried to find the original thread I stumbled upon, but couldn't, for the life of me!)
The outfits in the photos were my 2 main "base" outfits. I had a couple of other sleeveless/short-sleeved shirts to trade out with the pants, and then depending on the activity/temperature, would switch between the cardigan & yellow fleece pullover and/or add the dark green jacket, and switched between the Taos sneakers & Birkenstocks. I also had a nice dark blue scarf (forgot to stage it in the pic) that I could use for warmth & dressing up my outfits as needed. The leggings doubled as pajamas along w/whatever shirt I'd worn that day. I didn't end up wearing every pair of socks I brought, but it wasn't a big deal to have an extra pair or two. All in all, I think the clothes I brought worked out!
I did end up buying another pair of shoes at a surf shop on Day 3 while we were out beach-hopping, because I'd started getting blisters from my Birks (and had left my sneakers back at my friend's place to dry out after they got wet sailing the day before). Not the cheapest purchase on-the-fly, but I'm glad I was able to find a pair of shoes that were actually comfortable (as opposed to cheap flip-flops), and ones that I'll get a decent amount of wear out of (unlike cheap flip-flops). These are the shoes I bought: Sanuk Pair O Dice Slip-ons in washed black
Sooooo glad I went with these Dovetail pants instead of my "comfy" jeans. Jeans would NOT have been up to the maneuvering I needed to do on the tiny boat we sailed on! 😅 Lots of squatting and kneeling and such. The one drawback to these pants, though, was that they took a very long time to dry after getting the cuffs wet. I will say though that they made for great travel pants! So many pockets, and a very comfy elastic/drawstring waist. But as much as they felt like sweatpants, they looked nice enough to go straight from the airport to lunch at a renowned pizzeria! 😁
The one thing I absolutely did NOT need to pack was the book I brought lol. Since it was a social-focused trip, the only opportunities I had to read were on the flight or while waiting at the airport. But the flights were short (just over 2 hours in each direction), and I'm much more inclined to listen to music and look out the window when I fly than read or watch something. So I think I'll leave my books at home for future trips, unless I know I'll be having substantial solo leisure time at my destination.
Packing for this trip helped me realize that 1) I can do it! I can actually do it 🥲 2) I need to purge my closet of clothes that no longer fit me (probably the most challenging part of this whole experience) 3) As much as I rely on "how I'm feeling in the moment" to dress at home, it will be FINE while traveling to wear a predetermined outfit that I don't feel 100% cute in. The whole point of traveling is the experiences I'm having, not how cute I think I look while having them.

2023.06.05 05:30 EthelHexyl Those of you who have partners who are uninterested in clothing - do you pick out their clothes ever?

I think I need to mount a gentle takeover of my spouse's closet, at least for the nicer clothing. He does not give a hoot about clothes, which is fine for most of our life, but recently we have had a couple of nights out where I realized he does not have even casual nice clothes that fit well. He looked ok, just a little...unkempt and perhaps too casual.
So, I am trying to figure out what I can get for him that won't be too much of a stretch, but will suffice for dinners out and musical shows. I love clothes and actually enjoy this challenge. He is a jeans and t shirt guy, slender, average height, and looks good a pretty much anything (perhaps I am biased). I am thinking of getting him at least a nicer pair of jeans, with the stipulation that they are not to be worn while mixing concrete/digging trenches/crawling around the crawlspace. This will be the hardest part since he doesn't believe in saving clothes for infrequent nice events (our life is very casual, even the nights out). And a pair of nicer shoes, probably like a suede sneaker because - I kid you not - he wore his gardening crocs out to a nicer restaurant last night (again, where we live in the USPNW is very casual, but still...I have some standards!).
Tell me your experience with helping dress your carefree significant others, please! Any tips or good simple outfits to share?

I'm past it lol).

I think I like starting these with music now.
A young man in little more than a ski mask, black hoodie, basic jeans and sneakers walks the street, looking confused and aimless. As he does this, three men some block or two down are chasing a scared man in a suit and tie. The kid in the hoodie rounds the corner, and suddenly he and the man in the suit are in a heap on the ground.
He scrambles to his feet as the three men grab the man he bumped into, and begin to beat him.
"Thanks, kid," He hears one of the men say as his senses slowly come back to him. He shakes his head, trying to think of what to do in the situation. His fight or flight kicks in, and he doesn't know what to do. He stands there, his hands at his side, seemingly frozen. Before he can even realize what he is doing, however, he finds himself marching towards the men. Onlookers watch in quiet confusion at the scene.
If he really wants to do this, he can't let his fear dictate everything he does anymore. His voice comes out a bit shaky.
"Hey, leave him alone!"
One of the men quickly turns and punches him straight in the face. He falls to the ground holding his nose, which is to be expected from his scrawny stature, as one of the men spits on him and walks away, leaving him with a simple "It's none of your business, freak! Now buzz off."
He slowly stands up, looking down at his arm as yellow energy begins to crackle around it. He lets out a gasp as he tries to catch his breath, his adrenaline pumping. He can hear his own heartbeat, the pulse of it thumping in his head as he slowly makes his way onto his feet. He doesn't even have to think about what he says next, his voice shaky and his body already clearly winded from the punch.
"Yes, it is!"
The man who punched him turns around just in time to get punched straight in the chest and sent flying back past his other two friends. The two look behind them, clearly in shock, before turning their full attention to the man in the mask. He shakily adopts a fighting stance, clearly not experienced in fighting whatsoever, as he looks wildly at the two men ahead of him.
"He's one of those... Those freaks!"
The boy in the mask notices he may just have an upper hand in the situation if he can just exploit their fear.
"Yeah, that's right! And I'll... I'll zap you if you don't let him go!"
The two men look over at each other, before one of them gets out a pistol and points it at him.
"You really wanna do this, punk? The hell's wrong with you, going out dressed up like that? You trying to die for some guy you don't even know? How about you just walk away before we find out how strong you really are."
He falters for a moment. He guesses he isn't exactly in a position to be intimidating after already getting pummeled to the ground once. He nervously swallows, legs shaking as he keeps his footing.
"N-No! Never. Three thugs laying into one guy, thinking they can just get away with it while everyone else watches? And you want to know what's wrong with me? I'm the freak because I don't want to sit by and watch as you continue to scare the people in the place I call home? If I'm a freak for doing what's right, then I'm a freak who'd rather die than see you around here again. So... So bring it on!"
The man with the pistol clicks the safety off and lines up a shot as energy begins to crackle around the kid's arms once more. Suddenly, the kid in the mask screams as he runs towards the two men.
"Now back the hell off!"
In the streets of New York, people reflexively duck at the sound of gunfire.
Hey all! Sorry for the long post, I guess my muse is just high and I want to give some kind of writing sample. It's not really representative of what character or setting I'd like to write in, so much as a vibe, I suppose? Either way, I'm back!
This time I've come with a prompt that's recently come to mind after rekindling my relationship with my comic collection. I would like to, alongside someone, write a Superhero story together! At the risk of talking too much, allow me to elaborate:
I want to create a story you could feasibly see in a comic book. A tale of people with extraordinary doing things to help others, not because they want fame, or recognition, but because they feel they have to do what's right. Whether that's a setting heavily inspired by a preexisting franchise, or something entirely unique is fine with me! It's about the story to me. The only thing I request is that our characters aren't pre-existing ones!
For organization's sake, we would be using a discord server to keep everything tidy and organized!
As a player, I can offer enthusiasm, creativity, commitment to both the game and the story itself, and a genuine love for storytelling and connecting with my fellow storytellers! I'd love to have a genuinely fun and engaging time wherein I am both challenged as a writer to make something interesting, but also having fun making something I and someone I hope to call a friend can be proud of.
As a DM, while I'm not experienced with every system, I feel like I make up for that inexperience with how well experienced I am with making plot threads and a world that feels both engaging and full of possibilities! I feel like I especially excel whenever I can plan things out with my players, though that doesn't mean that I don't like keeping some of my plans under wraps either ;)
I don't have a particular system in mind, because I've never really tried any Superhero themed TTRPGS, which brings me to the next part of the ad. I would like to try to learn a system through this! Whether that be something I've heard about, such as Masks, or something I've never heard of before. Either or is fine by me! As long as you're patient and willing to work with me, I would like to learn a system that would fit what we want to write!
In terms of setting, I'm definitely more interested in light hearted with some serious moments rather than gritty all the time. Think less DC, more Marvel. And, as always, I would like for this to be a Long-Term arrangement!

If you're creative, willing to bear with me when it comes to mechanics, and have the same craving to write about the adventures and exploits of dudes in superhero outfits, feel free to message me! Before I tell you the dream there is something I need to preference.
I am 30. I still live with my mom. I have a mild disability so… The only thing I can’t because of it is money, driving and I’m working on it for a job. Anything else I don’t do is just preferences etc. I discovered YouTube in 2009 around when all the school systems came back and being that I’m thirty; a month later after discovering YouTube I started my I think freshman or sophomore year in high school. I graduated at eighteen in June of 2011. Do the math if it helps you reading. All I have done with YouTube is listen to music. Before YouTube my music listening to was car, television, places gone, television shows and movies like anyone in this world. I quit using YouTube and am back to how it was before YouTube and I am fine with it. At this point I’m just glad to get through and enjoy and all that my days still living life and such. I still love music and such. Just now back to limited like before YouTube and I’m fine with that.
I also never really used the internet unless I absolutely need and have to. I have the built in apps already there that is the phone itself (though sounds nonsense why there)… …and a like 2-4 apps my brother downloaded when he bought my phone because not the old way much anymore. No photos. No videos. No social media. Yes my perfred ringtone. The wallpaper is default. But I don’t touch my phone unless I absolutely need and have to. …and it is because I just don’t want to.
I used to have this image in my head time to time as a kid at some point during some of my sleeps at night where I’m in the front door door way; just opened the door; looking out and the feeling looks, seems and sounds is that it is my home; house. Next to me in the door way the same thing is a woman and the looks, seems and sound is Autumn fall; thanksgiving part of autumn fall.
Stereotypical black turtleneck, black leather belt with square silver buckle, regular ol straight legged blue jeans and a shoe that matches and goes with pretty much anything on the girl.

I am a 90’s grungy lesbian. The Sara Gilbert actress during the 1990’s all grungy in that show and the girl of the “what I am is what I am is what you are song” is my example to use as to which lesbian I like.
I haven’t had that image pop up since then as a kid; fourteen is the last time it popped up at random during some sleep as I said.
Ok… Now on to the dream…
At some point in this dream I had; that image popped up. But first things first.
In the dream I was in a front yard of what looks, seems and sounds like my home and it is autumn; fall; thanksgiving part of autumn fall. In the front yard I have one them glassed Starbucks frappochinos sitting next to me with a long enough straw somehow not falling over in the grass sitting. …and I’m sitting Indian style (dare I say and call it the old way)…
I’m facing the house; front door; not the street. …and I’m messing with leaves. A car comes into the driveway what looks, seems and sounds like to my right and looks, seems and sounds like a regular ol four door car. It is a woman in the car because then a woman comes out and walks up to the front door and does a keys go in. When she gets up to the front door to open it.
Her: “Hey the doors locked.”
Me: No. More like the locked jammed itself again.”
Her: “ you know I can’t just park and go in the garage every time especially since we are reorganizing and painting the walls of the it.”
Me: “ Use the back door”
Her: “But I got to make dinner and it’s damn near 3pm”
Me: “That’s early still…”
Her: “ what are you doing? You’re gonna spill that damn thing; yous need more when we go to the grocery tomorrow?”
Me “I will not. …and no there is three other four packs still from that rediculus sale”
I get up grabbing the coffee; taking a sip and go up to her setting the coffee down and look at her; do that hair brush soft slow with my hand and back at her looking and kiss her. …and then once our lips removed from the kiss; I do that jam shoulder into door get it opened and about fall with a slight laugh and we kiss again more and more kissing onto the couch kissing no sex just kissing making out.
Then that old image popped into my head.
Then I woke up. The end.
Not sure what to think. Hmmmmmmm🤨🤨🤨🤨 Thoughts?

2023.06.05 02:12 ExistentialRap Best workflows for sampling music for hiphop? I’ve seen a lot of tutorials on other programs but can’t really find any for reaper. I’ve tried using resample but the tempo changes when changing pitches so it just throws everything off. Any other plugins suggestions, too? (Soul, gospel,etc…)

Title. I’ve just had a hard time sampling when different pitches are incorporated. I had to use a pitch tempo calculator to determine new tempos after pitch changes and it’s just a pain. Any tips or tutorials on how to get a better work flow? I’ve watched most of Reaper Manias videos on sampling btw. May have to rewatch.

I played it in France as a very young child so my memories are super blurry, and I have been unable to find it anywhere. I believe it was on Windows 94 or 95. You could explore a virtual representation of some Hollywood studios, drawn in a cartoon style, and click on various elements to unlock some black and white cartoons like Felix the cat, Betty Boop or Popeye. I would say it was focused on the Fleischer studios as I don't remember any Disney or Tex Avery characters. I feel that maybe the title on the box was written in purple ? I remember something purple and somewhere in the game a short animated feature with two old people on their rocking chairs while an old music played. I ended up conflating that one memory with the song Old folks at home, which may or may not have been the song that was indeed played. It maybe was shown as if on a cinema screen too, and that is all I can remember. Thank you for reading !
