Today I'm going to tell you the story of my chair
I'm going to start this story with... We'll call this person Stacy.
Stacy is a tech saleswoman in the department store I worked at. Despite Stacy being a sales woman she is also a supervisor which in a technical sense doesn't really have any managerial connotations and is a very loose title where I work but Stacy has a problem with authority both giving and taking orders. Giving in a sense where she believes she is on the same level as the store manager and orders people around expecting them to follow her orders and taking in the sense that whenever one of the managers tells her to do or not to do something she just decides to not follow their orders and does what she wants anyway.
Now on top of Stacy's blatant insubordination, she is also a very unethical saleswoman where as she will lie to customers, lacks an extreme amount of knowledge regarding the things she is selling, steals sales from part time staff and is also very manipulative and manages to sell a lot of things which, because she makes a lot of sales means she brings in a lot of money for the store which in turn makes my store manager look good so he tends to look the other way when she is insubordinate and/or unethical.
Some background about myself for the story. I've been working with this company for about 3-4 years. I've been transferred to other locations as we have about 4 or 5 in my area, I've worked closely with a lot of the managers in the stores training as a potential stand in, but officially my positions in this company are in this order, computer repair technician, tech sales support, customer service support, I was permanently transferred to the store Stacy is at to fill the open tech repair position and assist with supervising the sales and service staff when needed, keep in mind that I am not a supervisor but I do have access to some of the same things management does and I report directly to the sales manager over anyone else, this is important for later.
Recently the store manager had to take medical leave for something serious which has caused him to not be able to work forcing our sales manager to become the acting store manager for the time. now our sales manager has only been with us for a couple months and Stacy believes that seniority actually hold some Authority, and because she's been with the store for over 10 years she thinks she has more Authority than the acting manager of the store. that being said our acting manager isn't very knowledgeable on all of the things a manager has to do although I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done and he usually consults me because I've worked closely with the managers of others stores. Because the manager is out Stacy has taken it upon herself to sort of act as the new store manager despite the fact that we already have an acting manager
Now in regards to my chair, as a support staff I do a lot of monitoring of software and type up a lot of retorts, and as the technician of the store I do a lot of sitting while repairing and working on computers mainly because my desk is below waist height and trying to work at a desk that low while standing can cause a serious back issue. the problem with me having a chair is that sometimes the part-timers will go into my office and sit and play on their phones when I'm not there and the manager has warned them a few times about it but they continue to do it, his deterrent was he would lock my chair in his office when I wasn't working. because the Manager is out for a while, Stacy took it upon herself to deal with the situation as she felt was the best way and that way was by dismantling the chair and hiding the pieces all around the store. Now Not only was that an extremely childish thing to do to handle a situation but the situation itself was completely out of Nancy's Authority was a complete waste of company time. I want to preface that this isn't some dopey office chair, it's a fairly high end chair that I built and I can tell you that taking it apart is twice as hard as putting it together. dismantling the chair and hiding all the pieces had to have taken at least an hour or two for a woman in her 50s and the place is she hid all of the pieces were unbelievable and turned out to be an extreme safety hazard.
So for about a week and a half me and a few of my co-workers who were aware of the situation basically went on a small scavenger hunt to find all of the pieces of the chair and within that week and a half is when I concocted my plan..
I discussed the situation with the managers. We have 4 managers.. A general manager, sales Manager, service manager, and merchandise manager. I spoke to each manager separately for their opinions on the situation (with the exception of he general manager because hes on leave).
The sales manages wasn't interested in the situation because he was the acting manager and had more pressing matter to attend to considering it was back to school season, out busiest time of the year he basically told me to deal without it however I wanted to.
The service manager was for the most part on my side but also didn't want to get involved because well... He's a bit of a pussy and it's terrified of confrontation.
The merch manager thought it would be fun to hunt for all the pieces since she knew the store top to bottom and would most likely be able to find all the pieces. She was also was okay with me handling the situation however I wanted to and offered any support she could provide in the matter.
Initially Stacy denied knowing where my chair was but everyone was suspicious she had something to do with it and after finding all of the chair pieces I then confronted Stacy about the situation, she admitted to taking apart the chair and hiding it and I respectfully requested that she rebuild my chair so that this situation can be done with and things can be normal,to which she respectfully declined. I wasn't having that.
In my store, things are pretty out of wack, and there are a lot of internal problems that need to be dealt with, but no one knows how to deal with them... Stacy takes advantage of that by using the disarray of the store to take advantage of the other employees.. And she thought she could do the same with me, but Stacy didn't know me very well, Stacy didn't know I have a lot of experience with this company, and Stacy didn't know I am friends with the HR manager, So I had an idea of how things worked when it came to dealing with employee issues that the managers avoided.. I told Stacy that if my chair wasn't build by the time I show up for my next shift I was going to give head office HR a call and tell them about all the Shit she's been doing and how much time she wasted dealing with managers issues and causing a slew of safety hazards and a hostile work environment.. She was trying to play it cool but that was enough to make her panic.. And believe it or not, she tried to pull the seniority card on me. Didn't work, then she tried the "you can't go over my head with this stuff, I'm your direct superior and you have to report to me first" which, for one, never have I ever directly reported to her, she supervises the sales staff, alongside me and two, this would be an HR issue which is beyond store management. Stacy panicked because she knew I was right and she couldn't do a single thing to stop me. So she begged one of the managers to build my chair and it was build that same night.
As satisfied as I am with the outcome and seeing her panic, I am dissatisfied with my dumb ass service manager who gave in and built the chair for her. It was fun watching her beg tho.
This happened a few years ago and I have since quit my job there. The toxicity that was being created because of Stacy literally has damaged my mental health. This story is one of very many outrageous things this person has done. I had to leave because she has had HR called on her many times, unfortunately HR has to report to the district manager, who also looked the other way from the amount of reports against her because it makes his district look better than the others when she gets high numbers. While I was there the part time employees had a higher turn over. When I voiced my concern to the district manager his response prompted almost the entire full time staff to quit.

So, this happened a few days ago, and I'm still reeling from the embarrassment. I woke up early in the morning and decided to surprise my family with a delicious homemade breakfast. Feeling all confident and chef-like, I went into the kitchen, ready to whip up some magic.
As I was rummaging through the fridge, I noticed a mysterious jar tucked away in the back. It had no label, but my curious self thought, "Hey, why not?" and decided to incorporate it into my breakfast masterpiece. Little did I know that this jar held a secret so potent, it would turn my life upside down.
I opened the jar and the moment the lid came off, an explosion of feathers erupted from within. Yes, you read that right. Feathers. Turns out, it wasn't some exotic spice or secret ingredient. It was a jar full of powdered chicken feathers, probably left there by some deranged chicken enthusiast.
Within seconds, my kitchen transformed into a scene from a bizarre feather-based horror movie. Feathers filled the air, clinging to every surface, and before I knew it, they had covered the entire room. It looked like a chicken bomb had gone off in there.
Panicking, I tried to clean up the mess, but my efforts only seemed to make things worse. As I flapped around the kitchen like a chicken with its head cut off, the feathers began to stick to my body, creating a feathered suit of shame. It was like I had become the human embodiment of a chicken.
But the chaos didn't stop there. As I frantically opened the back door to escape the feathery nightmare, a gust of wind blew the feathers out into the neighborhood. Suddenly, my tranquil suburban street became a chicken-themed wonderland.
Neighbors emerged from their houses, utterly bewildered by the surreal sight before them. Chickens flocked from all directions, lured by the sea of feathers now adorning every inch of the street. My misadventure had inadvertently summoned a poultry army.
I stood there, wearing my feathered suit, as a mob of chickens paraded down the street like they were on a grand march. The cacophony of clucking mixed with the laughter of my neighbors, who had clearly found the whole situation hilarious, it was a poultry parade.
It took hours to corral all the chickens back to their respective homes, and by the end of it, I was an exhausted, feather-covered mess. My kitchen resembled a chicken battleground, and I was left wondering how on earth I would explain this to my family.
TL;DR: TIFU by accidentally turning my house into a chicken sanctuary, unleashing a poultry parade on my neighborhood, and earning the title of the neighborhood's "Chicken King."

Hey (M24) me and my gf (F23) have a 4 year old now but been broken up for almost a year. throughout that year we would hook up and always pretend to be okay for our daughter in reality we weren’t. This weird jealousy started from a weekend she went out with her friends to a music festival. And she left her work bag with me to watch over the weekend. In there I found her Apple Watch and found out the she has been hooking up with 2 guys from her high school and a guy from her nursing school , and another guy she met outside. I myself have also have been doing the same but I had the chance to read her private messages and I know it was wrong of me but now I can’t get them out my head. When I’m with another female I don’t think of her feelings after sex but with her when we hook up we both get delusional and start pretending we want to get back together when we really just like the sex. I’m 6’3 270 lbs and my friend between my legs is about 7 inches. This is the 2nd girl I ever had sex with and I put a baby in her. She wouldn’t ever tell me if I was “big” I don’t ever look at myself either and feel that way either cause of perspective. I can make her orgasm every time we hook up. And it’s a good time every time but when feelings get involved I start thinking about these guys she went to go see. When I told her about it , I made it a big deal because of who the guys were. Knowing I’m being a hypocrite. She tells me she has no idea who the girls I’ve been seeing. True. But I still wanted to know what’s the point of us actually we can’t get over each other but when I try with her I think about why would she go fuck somebody else and she just says to try to get over me(we went thru a lot of toxic shit back then being young parents). We matured and got ourselves our careers now. It never works cause she comes back and tells me the sex she had was wack and I don’t believe it. If we have good sex why did she constantly look for something worse she tells me I shouldn’t have ever known and I’m letting my ego get hurt and over think cause of the detailed messages she had with other guys. We recently started dating again and when we hooked up she came in under 3 minutes. I was proud of myself until we kept going and she said to “fuck her like the other girls” and instantly thought of these other guys she was with. Turned off that turned into a huge argument why do I do this to myself ? I just want to forget it. it’s getting in my head when it shouldn’t. I think about it way too much that I found this place.

Hello everyone. My gf and I are currently in the process of finding a new apartment. We found this amazing apartment (size, its updated, amazing location) that is within our budget. However, there is a new construction site next door. I'm leaning towards avoiding this apartment regardless of how much we like it given the construction next door (its literally the building that would be connected to ours). I wanted to see if anyone has ever moved into an aprtment with construction next door and if it is manageable. It appears that pipes and such were sticking up from the foundation, but there is no structure in place at the moment. Look forward to hearing feedback.

I'm starting a Master of Speech Language Pathology program in September, and I have to decide by then if i want to do the regular course based stream or the thesis based one. I'd like to go into the medical side of SLP, focusing in aphasia and TBI and cognition, not the educational/school side, but that might change as I go through school. The thesis option adds an extra term over the course based. I'm not sure what i'd like to focus on in research and I've looked at all the potential research professors and while some of them are interesting, I don't see any that are calling out to me as a major interest or project I have to be apart of.
I don't know that the thesis option is the best, as I would just like to be a practicing clinician, but I also don't want to lose the option of research while in grad school. My school has a smaller required research capstone for course based students, but obviously less than a full thesis. I just can't decide what I want to do at this point.
Thoughts? Any one who chose between the two have any opinions, or things to consider as I chose between them.

For context: I am using Kodinerds on my Nvidia Shield Pro TV. I have a 5.1 sound system (that isn’t atmos supported) But I mainly use my Airpods Max bluetooth headphones which is indeed atmos supported.
I have an OLED LG BX TV, and for even more context, I care A LOT about quality. Whatever movie/TV I watch, it needs to be in the best quality possible. I just don’t have the money or space for anymore blu ray collecting, so I decided to experiment with Kodi.
When choosing a file to play (I have both real-debrid and Alldebrid) I almost always choose the biggest file there. Again, I care about quality, so I always try to look for the 4K BD Rips/REMUX as it has the best quality.
Long story short, when I have “allow passthrough” on for the audio, the playback becomes unwatchable. It lags and buffers every 5 seconds. It’s too slow and a message that says “source too slow for continuous playback” appears. HOWEVER, when I turn it off, the same files play smoother than ever. It’s like I’m watching an actual 4K blu-ray. It looks incredible (and it even sounds pretty decent even if Atmos isn’t enabled)
I care a little more about Visual quality than I do audio, but I would like to have the best of both worlds. If I HAVE to keep Allow Passthrough disabled so I can stream these high quality smoothly than I’m ok with that. If I have to sacrifice audio quality for video quality, I can do that.
I was just wondering if there were ANY last things I can do to try to have both before I settle with having it disabled. It’s not the end of my world or anything, and I can live with maybe the audio not being top tier if it means the visuals are, but again, just wondering if anyone has any last recommendations for me before I settle. Yes, I have display match frame rate enabled. My ethernet actually makes my Shield slower, so I use wireless which actually is a lot faster. Not sure why.

I was going to turn them all into HMOs for students as there was a large student population in the area. There were so many universities and it was the perfect investment. You have got to keep money moving and expanding, because if you just leave it alone, it will be so slow for growth. I contacted the lettings agency and they seemed to be new around the area, and they seemed so enthusiastic.
They lettings agency seemed so happy and upbeat. They seemed so trustworthy and I'm not sure why, but it felt like I could trust them with my life. The office was so swanky and everything was so organised and I had never seen such a great lettings office. They knew thier stuff, well it seemed like it at the time and now I regret going to them. They had so many large houses that they were showing me and I told them my price range. I was willing to spend up to 5 million pounds, and I was ready to go all the way.
The first house I viewed was a beautiful 5 bedroom house, and it was perfect. It was exactly as I had wanted it when I told the lettings agency. Then I saw another 5 bedroom house and again, it blew me away by how amazing it was. Then lastly I viewed a 6 bedroom house, and it was magnificent. Each house was selling for 500k-1 million and I bought them all. It was all well built with no maintenance issues, it was already to be up and ready for students to live in. I was so glad how smooth the whole process was. All 3 houses were on the same street as well.
When I got the keys to all 3 houses, I remember driving up there. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing, on the street there were no large houses but extreme damaged and broken down 2 bed houses that have all been boarded up. I went back to the lettings office, and it wasn't a lettings office but an abandoned building. Then a stranger came up to me and said to me "They control and use spirits of the dead to make us see what we want"
He told me that these people did the same to him, and he became bankrupted when he bought a 2 million pound mansion last year, and what was actually a 10 thousand pound run down 2 bed house, which was also abandoned. The 3 broken down avandoned 2 bed houses that I bought were worth 5k each. Luckily I still had some millions left and this lettings agency, tricks rich people into buying poor run down establishment's, and using spirits to make them look amazing.
It's a great trick I must admit, but I hate lettings agencies.

Hey we have seen everything almost and wanna find a hidden gem maybe. We both love seinen, dark, thriller animes. We love action, dont mind gore or adult humor. We both find fan service to be excruciating to watch through as it serves no purpose for us than to cover up bad plot or character design. Obviously there are some well done fan service characters thats just age appropriate and the character itself has other qualities than boobs. When i say we have seen it all i mean it. We're looking for something with a bit faster pace so nothing like Monster's pace. We like a good mysetry but my partner thinks any mystery nowadays are seethrough and gets annoyed by knowing the plot withing the first episode. We also enjoy great visual art because its anime. Like my dress up darling was amazing visually. We were both stunned by it. I personally cant wait for bucket list zom 100. I might have said that in the wrong order but whatever. My application is headless, so I really don't care about the graphics capabilities. What I do care about is power consumption and noise.
My first question is: Are NUC11 Pro boards and NUC12 Pro boards the same footprint? I want this to be rack mounted, and I ordered a 1U enclosure for a NUC 11 Pro board. I've seen in a couple of posts here comments suggesting that the 12 is the way to go for new purchases, but I don't know if that will even be an option for me if I want to use the enclosure I have.
The second question: What are some of the go-to sites for ordering these?
And third question: Given that any CPU on these is going to be fast enough, what family should I go for if I want it to run cool? Is there a significant difference in the heat generated by i3, i5, or i7? I notice that some boards have fans on them and some don't. Do the ones without fans support adding those fans just in case my rack enclosure doesn't allow the passive cooling to work well enough?

Hi, I'm trying to automate installing Miniconda on my Linux machine (Miniconda-latest-Linux-x86_64).
When running the shell script manually, there's multiple prompts that make it pretty annoying to install, and I can't seem to use Ansible's expect module properly in order to respond to these prompts.
This is what the shell script code looks like for the first prompt.
From what I've seen online, you would need to write something like this, or this to respond to the prompt. However I can't seem to get anything working and I'm currently getting a timeout error.
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here, any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

When running the shell script manually, there's multiple prompts that make it pretty annoying to install, and I can't seem to use Ansible's expect module properly in order to respond to these prompts.
This is what the shell script code looks like for the first prompt.
From what I've seen online, you would need to write something like this, or this to respond to the prompt. However I can't seem to get anything working and I'm currently getting a timeout error.
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here, any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

I wanted to invest my millions on houses, large houses. So I went to a lettings agency that had large 4-5 bedroom houses, they had such lavish houses. I was going to turn them all into HMOs for students as there was a large student population in the area. There were so many universities and it was the perfect investment. You have got to keep money moving and expanding, because if you just leave it alone, it will be so slow for growth. I contacted the lettings agency and they seemed to be new around the area, and they seemed so enthusiastic.
They lettings agency seemed so happy and upbeat. They seemed so trustworthy and I'm not sure why, but it felt like I could trust them with my life. The office was so swanky and everything was so organised and I had never seen such a great lettings office. They knew thier stuff, well it seemed like it at the time and now I regret going to them. They had so many large houses that they were showing me and I told them my price range. I was willing to spend up to 5 million pounds, and I was ready to go all the way.
The first house I viewed was a beautiful 5 bedroom house, and it was perfect. It was exactly as I had wanted it when I told the lettings agency. Then I saw another 5 bedroom house and again, it blew me away by how amazing it was. Then lastly I viewed a 6 bedroom house, and it was magnificent. Each house was selling for 500k-1 million and I bought them all. It was all well built with no maintenance issues, it was already to be up and ready for students to live in. I was so glad how smooth the whole process was. All 3 houses were on the same street as well.
When I got the keys to all 3 houses, I remember driving up there. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing, on the street there were no large houses but extreme damaged and broken down 2 bed houses that have all been boarded up. I went back to the lettings office, and it wasn't a lettings office but an abandoned building. Then a stranger came up to me and said to me "They control and use spirits of the dead to make us see what we want"
He told me that these people did the same to him, and he became bankrupted when he bought a 2 million pound mansion last year, and what was actually a 10 thousand pound run down 2 bed house, which was also abandoned. The 3 broken down avandoned 2 bed houses that I bought were worth 5k each. Luckily I still had some millions left and this lettings agency, tricks rich people into buying poor run down establishment's, and using spirits to make them look amazing.
It's a great trick I must admit, but I hate lettings agencies.

Around five years ago, I (32F) met a guy (37M) on a dating app, and we hit it off. He was very funny and much better at communicating his feelings than any man I’d ever met. We were not compatible, however, so even though I really liked him, we just were not happy as a couple, so after dating for a couple of months, we became friends instead.
It was weird for a while, and there would be jealousy when we dated other people, and we even occasionally hooked up (at the most desperately lonely times), but we always just felt like shit after, and it became clear that wasn’t healthy for us, especially as we grew more supportive of each other as friends. By the time we had been friends for a couple of years, we had stopped looking for that connection from each other, and while we talked about anything and everything, if one of us was dating someone, our conversations were respectful and appropriate to that relationship. This was our friendship for years, and it WORKED.
At some point, something shifted, and he became even more respectful of the invisible boundary around me, and I realized it was because I had started dating a guy (35M) who was good for me, and I think my friend sensed that and wanted to be extra sure he would not present as a complication. He knew before I did that this man would be significant, subconsciously, and did not want to risk messing it up by making him uncomfortable or even losing me as a friend.
Now, I’m married to that new guy, and he has zero issues with my friend. They even chat and bond sometimes.
I always hear that if a man is friends with a woman, he JUST wants to foster an opportunity to sleep with her. Guys talk about it like there are no exceptions unless the girl is ugly, like Matt Rife says in his standup. Clearly, my friend does not find me ugly. I guess I’m just looking for validation that my guy friend really is my friend and not driven by the possibility of sleeping with me. It seems very unlikely.
TL;DR Have a longtime guy friend and want to know if it sounds like he just wants to sleep with me.

2023.06.08 19:18 Independent_Willow92 Laptop got wet from rain yesterday. Now it won't power on.
One sudden heavy thunderstorm later and everything in my waterproof bag got decently wet. When I got home, I immediately pulled my laptop out of my bag and dried the surface areas that were wet. Looks like some water went through the keyboard or bottom though, because today when I pushed the power button on the laptop, nothing happened. Like literally nothing.
I've put my laptop in an airtight plastic bag and added a bunch of rice to absorb moisture from the air. I plan to wait a few days and try again, but I am worried that it is way too late. My laptop is a few months old, but I doubt the warranty covers water damage and I know there are special indicators in laptops for checking that, so it will be an instant decline. So now what? What are my options from here? Take it to a repair shop? Can I expect a heavy bill and no success? Or is this a routine fix? Or an expensive fix and I might as well just replace it?
