No matter what the topic is, within 5 minutes I find that my dad will always end up talking specifically about how the government plans to kill us all. We were talking about school and my grades and he said school is designed to get us all to take vaccines so the government can easily kill us. The other day we were talking about how different life is in other countries and he reverted to how the war in Ukraine is the government's way of killing us all under the disguise of war. When we talk about anything, it will always circle around to the government killing us all. I don't know why he's so fixated on it. The whole family cut him off one by one over the years until now, he has no one as of an hour ago as I was the final person to leave because I can't stand it anymore. He spends all day, everyday "researching" it. He hasn't worked in about 30 years (my country will actually pay you benefits for a lifetime) and the house is falling apart. The cooker doesn't work, the shower recently broke and the now electricity bills aren't being paid. He said none of it matters because the only important thing is his research on how the government is trying to kill us all. Idk what to do anymore, I didn't want to walk out on him because that would mean total isolation but I couldn't live like that anymore.

2023.05.28 18:00 THRWY9722 Getting a swab done at Quest?
Hi all, 35 m here in the United States. I have been suffering with symptoms of pain in testicles, burning in urethra, and occasional discharge for almost a year now. Gonorrhea and chlamydia have come back negative multiple times. Last time I was at an STI clinic the provider mentioned trichomonas and said however that they did not perform the test there but to see my GP and that I needed to ask for a swab instead of a urine test. I called my GP and asked and they said that they don’t actually do any testing at their location but that if I came in they could write me orders to get a swab done at Quest.
So my main question is, can Quest perform urethral swabs for this? It’s impossible to get anyone on the phone when I call and the times I’ve been to their location it seems like mainly people there giving urine samples and having blood drawn. Although each room I’ve been taken into to have blood drawn they’ve had frosted sliding glass doors and beds inside so seems like maybe they could? Alright, so my (18f) close friend (17f) picked up smoking half a year ago J
And I... kind of disapprove... a lot.
I found out she started smoking when I met up with her after her school ended later and mine ended early, and we went to go shopping. She came over with a few of her friends who were on their way home, and all of them had a cigarette in their hands. I suspected from the beginning that she was stressed out over school, and then the few friends she'd gotten all smoked, so she both felt pressured in order to socialize with them and felt pressure from the school to get some sort of outlet. This she confirmed when I asked her.
Now, looking back, I can see I probably didn't handle the situation very well, which is why I'm making this post, but I made it clear to her that I did not agree with her choices. Every time she took out a cigarette I'd send her a disapproving look and she'd smile sheepishly before lighting it. I'd refuse to step outside from parties let her smoke, bc I knew she wouldn't do it alone (these were private parties where I knew everyone, I wouldn't do this if there was a danger of her going outside with a stranger). I'd groan or verbally berate her every time she brought it up.
I want to explain my reasoning: her friends were pushing her into to it, so I thought she might need a friend to also keep some sort of leash on her so she at least wouldn't go further into the hole. I knew I couldn't and shouldn't make her stop if it wasn't on her own accord, but hopefully I could help the problem from growing bigger.
She never showed any signs of being annoyed (unless it was playfull) at me, but a few weeks ago I finally realized how uncomfortable it could be. The next time we were together, I told her I really wanted her to tell me if I crossed a line, and I'd shut the f up. I would much rather know what is going on with her and not share my opinions, than her lying to me to make me think she was doing better out of fear or annoyance, when she's in fact not doing good. She promised me I wasn't being overbearing and that she'd always want to talk to me about it (actually, that I wouldn't be able to stop her from talking about it to me) to which I hope she wasn't just saying. I think she meant it.
She's started a stop-smoking course and I bought her a little book that apparently should help you keep track of your process, and encourage and motivate you. I read a bunch of fun facts about the appearance part of not smoking (like your scars heal quicker and you're less prone to wrinkles), and some about the health part (that after 5 years you're half as unlikely to get health problems regarding the heart and after 10 you're as likely as a non-smoker. After 15 years you're half as likely to get lung cancer and after 20 you're as likely as a non-smoker) which seemed to encourage her.
Now, the problem with this is, I feel like I can only be so judgemental over her lifestyle without her beginning to seriously get tired of me.
She sent me a snap a month ago gushing about how romantic it was that this 25-year-old man who was on his way home from his business party at his firm sat in the train for way more stops than he needed to because he thought she was so attractive that he just had to speak to her. He was okay with her being 17 and even kissed her after walking her home. At the time I just thought it was a red flag that he was so much older and didn't care that she was 17, but now I'm seriously disturbed by the fact that he has her address. I don't think he was a predator, luckily, but still. And this was right after a seriously disturbing kidnapping case as well. I just laughed at it at the time, because I didn't feel like I had a right to tell her I didn't think it sounded quite well, but I have paid attention to wether or not she mentioned him again, which she didn't so he's luckily out of the picture. Otherwise I would've told her my opinions on it.
So, to sum up: how do I help her? how do I support her? where does the line go from supportive to overbearing? what would you smokers who're trying to quit like to hear from your friends?

My gecko is very shy and the multiple times I’ve tried to hold it it touches my hand then gets spooked and runs away. I just don’t know how I can remove it when they’re this hard to handle. Got a freebie pressure washer with a Subaru EX21 7.0 (Homelite hp3127s). I'm trying to decide if it's worth salvaging or just toss it. I think CostCo sells decent pressure washers that are comparable for $300. The gas tank is trashed- leaks bad and totally rusted out. The carb bowl is filled with rust/debris- I think they stored this outside in rough weather for years without weatherizing it. It needs a complete tune up (air filter, carb, spark plug, etc). If those things are in bad shape, I'm SURE it would also need a new pump too (not sure if you can rebuild those or not).
So, I'm looking at about $200 to repair it ($50 for fuel tank, $30 tune-up kit, $100 pump). That's just to get it to try to run- who knows how bad of shape the actual engine is, and what other repairs it would need. I'm not a mechanic guy (Handy, but total idiot when it comes to engines). I'm having a hard time just throwing this out- is this worth trying to restore? Or should I just junk it, save the heartache and just buy a new one with a warranty?

Hi all I'm new here and this my first post. To keep things short, my doctor said I had severe, chronic, medicine resistant depression, anxiety and pmdd, so I ended up doing 6 ketamine treatments. They worked out great. I felt mentally and physically great. I became pregnant 2 months after sessions were over. I guess that's where my body started acting out. During my last month of pregnancy, I developed bells palsy, likely due to stress (has not resolved yet).
When I gave birth, I developed post partum depression and anxiety. My anxiety was through the roof. My heartbeat was 120+ in the hospital and they wouldn't discharge me until they did an EKG (was fine). After that I'd have heartbeat up to 130 bpm while I'm laying down. I talked to my psychiatrist and he said to do a ketamine maintenance treatment. I just finished it Thursday and mentally, im doing good. I'm finally enjoying time with my newborn and I feel hopeful and excited about upcoming things.
Here is where it gets tricky: my body feels like crap. I slept 9 hours straight (w sleeping pills because I have bad insomnia) and I feel exhausted, as if I didn't sleep all night. To give a little bit of context: I dated this girl for about 1 year, then I broke up with her because things were no longer working between us after she found out that I had been seeing others in the first time we were seeing each other. I was a jerk, I betrayed her trust, and that made the relationship unmanageable because she simply couldn't trust me anymore. With the other person it ends and I meet her again by pure chance and talking with her I find out that she fucked a friend of mine (he kept it from me of course) because she wanted to get back at me/annoy me, she did it once and then didn't give in anymore because she regretted it and felt it was sleazy. I don't know if this involved some "stolen ball syndrome" or what, the fact is that after that we got back together and continued dating for about 2 to 3 years. In November 2022 I broke up with her again, struggling immensely and suffering like a dog, because ours had become a relationship with toxic loops that we couldn't get out of. In the following months we saw each other a few more times to make "peace," since she said she hated me etc etc. I continued to feel bad for months, I missed her, but I didn't want to be weak and fall back into her arms. In the meantime I started seeing another person, who was great and treated me very well, but our relationship did not take off precisely because I was still thinking about her.
Around march my best friend (who has been having trouble approaching girls for years, but I won't dwell on that) asked me if he could hit on my ex, since she had sometimes expressed appreciations about him. On first I didn't want to, then I gave him the go-ahead thinking that this would help me get over her.... I was very wrong. A short time later I found out from him that they actually started dating and that he had already dumped her back for a second time because he preferred another girl he was involved with. I never felt so bad in my life, I couldn't sleep from anger, I think because underneath, even though I had given him the green light, I hoped she would never do that to me for the second time. A short time later I found out that he had started seeing her again for a third time, keeping it from me, this caused big fights between him and me. For context we used to date in middle school/high school off and on for 3 years and then didn’t speak to each other for like 10 years. She tried to reach out over those years but I was a drug addict so I didn’t have any sexual interest or libido at all so I was single for all those years. But then I got sober in 2016 and had a few relapses but I’ve been good for a few months now and I finally hit her back up and we had a date and hit it off immediately.
For the first month I thought things were going okay, we were sexually active and going on dates, etc… I ever spent like 800$ on her for her birthday in April.
