Yet, Godfrey never attacked nor conquered Caria or the Academy. In fact, Radagon did. Why? It doesnāt make much sense to me. Godfrey being such a strong warrior could surely conquer the Academy in no time (he dealt with Giants, so why not some flimsy sorcerers?). This as been bugging me for a while. So, I came up with an alternate timeline. Itās far from complete and still has many flaws, but please bear with me. For starters, Tarnished Archeologist claims the previous god was the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and her Lord was Placidussax. Then, Marika took the Elden Ring from her and sealed her Rune of Death. Also, Godfrey would have 1v1ed Placidussax. Weāll just go along with that. So this represents the start of the Golden Order. Then, Godfrey defeats the Giants, Marika grows her Erdtree, and the Age of Plenty begins. Godfrey conquers the entirety of the Lands Between, but somehow skips Liurnia. I think he did not, in fact, skip it, but rather, the Academy of Raya Lucaria and Caria didnāt exist yet. Do I have any proof of that? No. I just canāt stomach the fact that Marika would send Radagon to the Academy instead of Godfrey. Unless Godfrey was out of the picture. It is generally accepted that immediately after Godfrey finished his conquest, he was exiled, and immediately afterwards, Radagon became Elden Lord. Mostly because of this quote from Miriel: However, when Godfrey, first Elden Lord, was hounded from the Lands Between, Radagon left Rennala to return to the Erdtree Capital, becoming Queen Marika's second husband and King Consort, taking the title...of second Elden Lord.The quote seems to imply there was no time gap between Godfreyās banishment and Radagonās crowning because of the use of āwhenā. But itās not very specific either. I think thereās room for debate that the wording was minimized in the sentence and lost some of the nuance. It is quite a stretch, I agree. Anyway, letās move on. The next step is yet another leap. What if something happened to the Erdtree or the Elden Ring while Godfrey was gone? There are a few theories out there. Maybe the Erdtree was burned by red lightning when the Dragons attacked? This post proposes that the Erdtree must be burned regularly to cleanse the world of sins. Maybe there was a first shattering (this post has a very interesting theory about Radagon). Anyway, on to the next point. I think the Elden Ring is symbolized by the Sun. So, symbolically, if something bad happened to the Elden Ring and the Erdtree, it would make sense that the "Sun" would disappear, and we would find ourselves in an eternal night. Marika, with no Erdtree anchoring her faith, started revering the stars instead. Leyndellās culture and their entire empire switched from Erdtree worship to star worship (Nox culture). Leyndell became the Eternal City of Leyndell (Iām not convinced if Nokron and Nokstella were founded then or much later after the Noxās banishment). Then, the kingdom of Caria and the Academy of Raya Lucaria are found, which would explain why their culture is so intimately tied to the Nox culture. Marika is desperately in need of a Lord (TA has another great video about the relationship of Lord and God), so she starts researching Mimic Tears. At some point, Radagon emerges. If you want to know more about Radagon, I refer you to this post again (There is also the Mimic Tear theory, which I donāt discard entirely). Radagon is the incarnation of the Golden Order, or what is left from it. So, how do we go from Nox culture to Erdtree worship again, even though there is no more Erdtree? Tarnished Archeologist has a great video on that (seriously, this guy again?). The point is that the Erdtree became the embodiment of faith once more. Erdtree seal: A formless sacred seal decorated with an Erdtree crest, once the focus of religion in the Lands Between. Even though the Elden Ring is shattered, and the Erdtree has dulled from its former radiance, earnest faith continues to hold the answers.This new faith in the Golden Order didnāt fit with the Nox culture, which led to some trouble (Night of the Black Knives, and their banishment, perhaps related to the creation of the fingerslayer blade). And this newfound faith in the Erdtree needed to conquer the Lands Between once more. Which brings us to Radagon and his attack on the Academy. Marika will eventually call him back and make him Elden Lord. Much later, Radagon would try to repair the Elden Ring, but would fail miserably, only shattering it more, leading to the War of the Shattering (credit to this post again). I skipped some major key events to keep this post short. Youāre welcome to ask about those in the comments. Or just straight up tell me my theory is trash. Thanks for reading! |

I'm an "ex"-hardcore gamer who really tries to just enjoy games more & have fun with it, which is honestly hard.. as I've been a hardcore competitive gamer for my entire life, so it's kind of hardcoded within me.
I really just want to have fun, laugh & enjoy myself now.

Skip this if you'd like: *(I've been wanting to play a souls game since 2019 and have only just gotten the chance to do so. I was so excited to begin with but after having played ER for a bit, I almost feel betrayed/disappointed.
I first found out about the souls series in 2019 through FightinCowboy's Dark Souls 3 Walkthrough. At the time, I must have been about 13 and did not know anything about gaming. So, you can imagine just how enchanting that game seemed to me. The visuals and the story seemed absolutely perfect. Soon enough, I burned through most of his other souls content except for DS2 and Bloodborne.)*
Now, quite a few years later, I've managed to secure the opportunity to actually play one of these games. For reference, I've completed all of Limgrave, fair amount of Liurna and have just started Caelid. That aside, I have, in my time spent outside the game, looked up the lore and the different endings and it all seems sooooo very ?boring? or even unnecessarily cryptic/abstract.
So, what's my huge problem with the storytelling?
You're living in the aftermath of the events that are actually of interest. Imagine you were there when the Elden ring was shattered. Imagine you were fighting the war against the dragons in Leyndell. Imagine you had the opportunity to steal the rune of death and assassinate Goldwyn. It would be much more fun imo if you could go on missions, so to speak, carry them out and see the story progress in the moment rather than having to read cryptic NPC dialogue and item descriptions to piece it all together. I know that some of the missions I've mentioned above don't exactly seem like they'd overlap in terms of who your character would be aligned with or where your character would be at a given time but if fromsoft had started with something like, I don't think it would be hard at all to hammer out these problems. Plus, I think in the end, it could all still have ended with the endings we currently have.
As it stands, you're essentially roaming a dead world and (aside from NPC side quests), there's not that much to give it life. The catacombs and caves are cool for the first 2-3 times and then it's just like "c'mon, really? This again?" I also wish there were more closed areas, like more castles and shit. Maybe those come later on in the game so I won't bitch too much about that.
Credit where credit is due though: the game is a visual masterpiece. This aspect of fromsoft's games have only gotten better since Demon's Souls. Soundtrack is epic and plenty of cool weapons from what I've seen in yt vids.
In the end, I must say that this is only my opinion but I needed to vent about this. If there's anything that I've understood incorrectly, please do correct me; I want to try and like the storrytelling but as it stands, it's just bad to me. So much so that even a sexily serious brit voice cannot convince me to like it.
P.S: The dung eater is solid waifuu material; good job fs.

I've been wanting some kind of computer for a while now, and don't have room for a whole pc setup, so decided to get a laptop. I was looking for one that would be good for what I want to do, and this is the one that I've seen the most. But I'm wondering, is it worth it? Price isn't much of a problem since I can finance it, but I know the price is still pretty hefty. I'm not that knowledgeable on computers so I'm not sure if there's a better option out there either.

What I'm looking to do:
- I like to draw quite a lot, and it seems like this would be useful as it has the touchscreen and pen support, and can fold. I currently have an ipad but its a much older model, and I prefer having bigger screens
- I'm also interested in doing more music work, like using FLstudio and/or synthv. Wouldn't do this super frequently but still something im expecting to do
- I like to edit a bit, as I was super into it before but could only make small things on my phone
- Finally, gaming. I was looking at gaming laptops at first, but I don't do any big gaming like Elden Ring or RDR2, I'm interested in those games but don't have the time or attention span to put a lot of time into them. I like gaming but smaller more indie games. The "highest quality" game I'd play frequently would probably be like Resident Evil occasionally or The Sims

So Iāve had my Series X for about 2 years now and thereās been a few games that it just crashes or freezes basically not allowing me to play the game. Those games are Destiny 2, Elden Ring, and Apex, I donāt play on a monitor I just play on a normal tv that I think doesnāt even support 4K but I feel like that shouldnāt be the issue. Iāve restarted my Xbox, hard reset it, deleted those games, gotten my thermal paste replaced, and I still havenāt been able to fix it and itās really bugging me now so could anyone help?

I just got back to ER after a 6 month break and I feel SUPER lost. I've forgotten my progression status in all side stories and don't know what to do, nor where I am in the world. Really feeling that the game needs some kind of quest log, maybe like the pin-board found in Outer Wilds with clues if you have played it.
Am I the only one? It doesn't help that the story arches are super complex, especially as a non-native speaker, the English is hard!
Would love some input, what to do - start over?
