The surgeon told my husband that his other tooth is now sharp and he should see his dentist to file it down. I looked into his mouth this Sunday and found a large hole in that tooth. The hole showed his gum and something brown between my husband's gum and tooth. I'm wondering why the surgeon just told my husband that the area was sharp and did not tell him to see a dentist as soon as possible. We are reaching out to our dentist Tuesday, since Monday is Memorial Day (a holiday).
Is this common and acceptable behavior from the oral surgeon?

I’m worried I’ll be unable to sleep tonight as I’m on day 3 of surgery and my upper left section is killing me. Currently taking ibuprofen 600 mg and amoxicillin 3x daily as directed by the oral surgeon. Can I also take 1 Tylenol PM to help with sleeping while taking the other 2 medications?

White protrusion on cheek after extraction of teeth 15 and 16
I had two teeth extracted four days ago and things seem to be going very well! :) I'm in virtually no pain, and have not smoked/drank since extraction. The white protrusion on my cheek is directly adjacent to the clot on my gum. Might this just be irritation from the suture? I'm taking antibiotics so I feel as though it's not an infection, but I wasn't sure. Will be calling the oral surgeon this week to double-check, but I would love to hear any advice to help allay my anxiety in the meantime. Thank you so much!!

2023.05.28 21:29 Alkali13 Pain & Swelling 9 Weeks after Coronectomy?

I had a coronectomy for a wisdom tooth a little more than 9 weeks ago. No real complications and to my knowledge, things have been healing fine. I brush and floss regularly, I eat fairly well, although I do drink alcohol.
Two days ago, the area in my mouth started to feel sore, yesterday I felt by touch that the area was inflamed in my jaw, and today I have some visible swelling from the outside. Since my dentist and oral surgeon won't be open until Tuesday, I was wondering if this was something normal, the retained root migrating, or a sign of a very delayed infection. TIA for any input!

Hello all,
My partner has a broken wisdom tooth that needs to be removed asap, both for the tooth pain it's causing and because of the risk of triggering trigeminal neuralgia (if you don't know what that is, it's terrifying - it's nicknamed the suicide disease). Both my partner and I are immune compromised, and we've had some trouble finding dentists that still have mask rules in place. We are specifically looking for female dentists and techs - my partner has extensive medical and dental trauma, and the male oral surgeon that removed 2 of my partner's other wisdom teeth literally held them down and threatened them when they told him that the anesthetic wasn't working. I'm posting hoping - does anyone know of any dental practices with female practitioners in Washington (we're willing to travel) that still have mask requirements in place? Or if that's not an option does anyone have experience going to a female dentist since the mask mandate went down where everyone is still masking (reception, all staff at minimum). We know there's an element of risk with getting work done no matter what, and we'd like to minimize the exposure.
Also, and this might be stretching what's likely, but if within the parameters above anyone knows of dentists knowledgeable about trigeminal neuralgia, TMJ issues, or sjogrens disorder, that would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance!
