Extra long pool floats

Trip summary: 4 nights in Vegas at MGM Grand

2023.06.10 22:34 furtive Trip summary: 4 nights in Vegas at MGM Grand

We did 4 nights in Vegas this week, Mon through Friday, staying at the MGM grand.
MGM Grand Hotel: nice hotel, well located not too far down the strip. We had a grand king room and it was clean and well appointed and while not brand new, didn’t look worn down or dated. it was a perfect fit for the budget, and the confidence of having a smoke free room was great. We didn’t eat on site except for a lazy buffet day/pool day. Crowd was all conference and low key from Mon-Wed, not too busy at all, then on Thursday the unwashed masses began to appear, and the nightlife also became much more vibrant.
MGM Buffet: I got a two for one voucher through the myVEGAS Slots app and about 9 days of play. The buffet vouchers always seemed to be sold out but about 48hrs before my departure I managed to get one. Buffet was fine, the food and selection was good, the look was a bit dated. New menu items started showing up around 11am. Probably not worth the price for two full adults, but with the 2 for 1 it was worth it, the wife was very happy and I saved $30+ because of the app.
MGM pool: Lovely, we spent two full days here. All pools and river were open except the Splash pool, which looked okay but was closed the whole time, probably because things weren’t crowded. No problem finding good free seating, much harder to find free seating with shade but we got lucky on the Tuesday and there was decent cloud coverage on the Thursday. All seating on lazy river island was reservation only. Way quieter on a Tue than on a Thu. Didn’t get a floatie, they were $25-30+tax depending on the size, but never felt we needed one. Bag check was low key.
Cheap eats: we did Shake Shack and In n Out burgers and both were great, with Shake Shake winning by the tiniest of margins. Oh, and Evel Pie for a quick slice away from the bustle of Freemont.
Expensive eats: we did Momofuku and enjoyed the menu, best item (hard to believe) was the brussel sprouts and cauliflower.
Cheap activities: We enjoyed the volcano at the Mirage more than the fountain at the Bellagio, maybe because we came in with zero expectation. Too bad it won’t be there for long, glad we saw it. Pinball Hall of Fame was also a great value, we split $20 between the two of us and were there for well over an hour. Conservatory at Bellagio was way too tacky for our tastes.
Other activities: Blue Man Group was great, make sure you buy tickets from the MGM site and not from the BMG/Ticketmaster site, saved about $40/seat that way. Cirque de Soleil O had the most impressive stage set I’ve ever seen, magical really. Omega Mart was fun, we had 11:20am booking but would recommenf you book for 10am and make sure you’re on some drugs first. Vegas Neon Sign museum was good but short and felt a bit like a graveyard, lots of potential but $20/head was a bit high. Freemont was Freemont, but driving from Freemont down the strip at night was great and felt like out of a movie.
Side note: We rented a car on the Wednesday and did Red Rock National Park, Area 15, In-N-Out Burger, Pinball Hall of Fame, Neon Sign Museum and Freemont all in a day, it was totally worth it and added to the Vegas/Desert experience. Our only regret was that we could have spent 4-8 hours hiking at Red Rock but had tight 11:20am reservations for Omega Mart so that part felt rushed (we’re from Canada, seeing cactus and sand in the wild is wild!)
Other tips: don’t buy booze in the hotels/casinos, way cheaper at CVS/Wallgreens, same for food/snacks whenever possible.
Canadian Tip: ATMs are a scam here. Casinos/hotels charge $9.99 just in ATM fee, it was 1/3 of that at Walgreen/CVS. And that’s not the half of it. Get your cash once and be done with it, and watch out, they will offer to “exchange” your currency during the purchase path, decline because there is a huge markup, let your bank do it instead. For example, I took out $400 USD, ATM offered to do the exchange with total coming out to $607.88 CAD but by declining that and having it use the exchange from my bank I paid $561.24, saving me $47 in scam markup.

2023.06.10 22:34 zeemeerman2 Newbie GM Questions: Skill check procedure in exploration mode

I want to GM Pathfinder 2e, but I have some questions first that aren't clear to me—regarding exploration mode and skill usage.
I have been reading AON, but I have not yet bought the Core rulebooks. I have bought the Beginner Box.
My background comes from D&D, but I then dabbled in PbtA and Blades in the Dark. I learned a lot of lessons from those games that I want to incorporate into the trad game of Pathfinder 2e. But I am also reminded of the careful balance put by the devs in the game; balance that might clash with the established lessons learned from Apocalypse engine games and Blades.
So I don't really know what to do. Redditors of the internet, I ask of you these questions thee. Please help me.
Most of these questions have a between-the-lines question attached that I would want to have answered: "what is the intent here?"
  • I assume in a regular game session, you switch continuously between Encounter Mode and Exploration Mode. The default mode is Exploration Mode, you encounter enemies and enter Encounter Mode. Finishing up combat, you go back to Exploration Mode, until you encounter another set of enemies and enter Encounter Mode again. You are not staying in Encounter Mode exploring an entire dungeon. Are my assumptions here correct?
If my assumption is not correct, may I assume instead there is this floating free-form roleplay happening, with sometimes the game zooming in to Encounter Mode and sometimes going to a defined Exploration Mode, after which you return to the free-form no-explicit-mode roleplay thing?
  • The game rules have a paragraph about failing forward. This is contrasted by many Skill actions (such as Climb) that have blank fail states. Should I fill these blank fail results in with narrative Consequences?
"As you try to climb this wall, you accidentally grab a part of a loose rock. It crumbles and falls down, revealing a small cavern. Inside, a group of bats and behind them, a treasure chest. As the loose rocks fall down, they make noise, waking up the bats. Roll initiative. Yes, while climbing."
I do understand that in Encounter Mode, nothing happening means you still lose an Action. Which might mean the enemy can get an extra turn in and attack you. There is still risk, even without immediate consequence. My question refers to Exploration mode here.
  • Should consequences, if added, always have to relate to the skill itself? Rock climbing and loose rocks. As an alternative, the environment can take an action as a consequence instead; separate from the actual skill check made. Rock climbing and as a consequence, a guard noticing the PCs climbing.
  • Should I also add consequences to a critical fail, even when they are defined and in addition to their effects? E.g. "You fall down."
A fail can be interpreted as a partial success rather than a miss. You do what you want to do, but there is a consequence. This partial success is in reference to a fail often meaning you still deal half damage, rather than no damage.
When I speak of consequences, I have a policy to never ever make it seem like a PC does something stupid, like many fumble card rules seem to imply. This is often achieved by pure narrative. A sword does not slip out of the PC's hands. Instead, the PC makes an accurate attack, but the goblin flicks the sword out of the PC's hand at the last second. The PC is a competent combatant, but sadly for them, so is the goblin.
  • The Beginner Box asks the GM to have players roll skill checks. Reading AON, there seems to be a bigger focus on Skill actions, almost to the point that one can read that skill checks don't even exist and it's Skill actions only. What is the intended idea here?
  • Are Skill checks/actions intended as a fiction-first move or a mechanics-first action?
In this context, with fiction-first play I mean that a player tells what they do in the fiction first and conveys their intent, then the GM tells them what they should roll based on what they do and with which intent.
Player: "I want to climb on top of this Giant to get to the top of the wall."
GM: "That sounds like a Climb action to me."
Player: "I want to climb on top of this Halfling to squash them with my weight."
GM: "That sounds like a Strike action to me."
In mechanics-first play, the player chooses the Action they want to take first, making what happens in the fiction fluff that can be ignored.
Player: "I attack the goblin. Does a 17 hit?"
Especially with Skill actions, are they intended to be triggered from fiction or are they chosen by players as actual actions?
  • Before a roll is made, are take-backsies and back-and-forths with the GM possible?
  • Can players choose the Skill check/action or is the GM the decider of the roll made? In the next example, the GM sets the DC, but does not choose the skill check.
Player: "I'm using Acrobatics to climb swiftly on this wall."
GM: "Okay, make a DC 20 roll."
Player: "That sounds like a lot. How about I just be careful and use Athletics instead?"
GM: "Okay, then make a roll against DC 15 instead."
  • Are there any guidelines for GM moves as improvised consequences? Like "Deal 1d6 damage is fine, 10d6 damage is too much. Never split the party as a consequence. You may take away a resource, such as a torch, or a spellbook, but only temporarily."
  • Should all lethal fights be happening in Encounter Mode? Or can I assume when the Rogue assassinates the Guard from the shadows, they can do so as a single action in Exploration Mode; keeping Encounter Mode for the big fights and boss battles only? If not, I assume trying to kill the Guard always sets up Encounter Mode and initiative is rolled.
Failing the assassination might make the Guard ready for combat as a consequence, and still trigger Initiative rolls. In which the Guard is most likely going to call for backup.
  • Bonus question: Can Encounter Mode be used for other things than physical combat? I am thinking of using it as an interrogation, with Strikes be representing telling facts, and the victim being at 0 hp representing them finally giving up their secrets; while still being alive and well. Or hp representing the trust the public has in the politician as you talk down the politician in a political debate.
Or is Encounter mode specifically reserved for physical usually-lethal combat?
Thank you all for reading. My apologies for the strange sentence structure; English is not my first language.
Any questions answered, even if not all, will still be a big help.

2023.06.10 22:32 Fair-Ad-6697 I live with my boyfriend’s parents and it’s driving me mad

I (21F) have been with my partner (21M) for around 5 years now, long distance for 3 years, living together at his family home for just under 2 now. We are saving for a house together and pay rent to his parents, and before I begin, I am grateful they let me live with them. I have always had a good relationship with them but recently I feel it’s been on the decline and they’re starting to drive me mad. They never seem bothered about me or my life but are so caring and attentive when it comes to their son, my partner. And I get it, he’s their son but I feel as if I don’t exist in the house. For example, I work for the police and attended a traumatic sudden death recently. I had come home, told his parents about it seeking support and they physically didn’t say a word back to me, just sort of made a surprised face and walked away. However, my partner, who works at a bank, then comes back home the same day and says a customer shouted at him. They went to the moon and back making sure he was okay meanwhile I was struggling to deal with the incident I’d attended. Also, any extra house work I do doesn’t get acknowledged but when my partner does the smallest thing they shower him in appreciation. It’s also worth noting his mother does not like me buying food for myself with my own money and questions me when I come home with even a small shopping bag, but doesn’t say anything when my partner does. I am 21, and feel as if I’m not allowed to buy anything for myself without being judged. When my partner comes back from nights out with his friends, his parents also make jokes about all the girls he’d seen and jokes about him cheating on me. This upsets me. They also always try and get involved with mine and my partner’s disagreements, and usually gravitate towards his side no matter the circumstances. I don’t want them involved in our relationship like that. I’ve told my partner about these issues but he’s a mummy’s boy and for him they can do no wrong. I am desperate to move out with my partner however we simply don’t have the money yet and my partner won’t rent & I don’t want to live away from him again. I feel so stuck and this is really taking a toll on me mentally. Advice please?

2023.06.10 22:31 travelguy23 How to avoid burnout

I hear many on here talk about burnout and how they can avoid it.
As far as I can see, there are only two ways.
The first way is to simply set time limits on how long you work. In the EU there is law called the Working Time Directive. It's essentially a way to stop employees overworking.
Overworking can badly damage your health, so you simply shouldn't do it, especially for long periods of time.
So, if you're working on a project you need to discipline yourself to working 9-5 or whatever.
But sometimes you may need to go all-in to get a project off the ground. That's ok as long as you don't go all-in for too long. Also, the potential results need to be worth it.
For example, if you work an 80-hour week for a year and end up with $1 million, it may be worth it for you.
But if you're working 80-hour weeks just to earn an average wage then there's simply no point.
The second way to avoid burnout is to drop projects or put them off until later.
I see quite a few on here that work long hours in their main job and also long hours on a side hustle. They complain about burnout.
The only solution I see here is that you have to give up one or the other for the time being. You're simply trying to do too much.
You can have anything in life but you can't have everything.
Many on this sub seem to want to have everything right now. That rarely happens.
If you want 5 things in life and they all take working 40 hours a week for 2 years to achieve, you should just do one at a time. Do project 1 in years 1-2, project 2 in years 3-4, etc. You'll achieve a lot more than trying to work 16-hours das yo achieve everything at once.
I've been taking it easy for years. It's not for everyone, but I'm happy with small wins. Like earning $400 a month writing on Medium.
That's been my main project for almost 2 years. I'll spend the next few months on my website flipping project. Later this year I will drop both and move on to two other projects.
I've been doing this for decades. It builds wealth and extra income slowly but with some big wins. It gives me time to travel and socialise.
It's way better than trying to work 80 hours a week, losing all your friends and becoming depressed, which I see many complaining about.
So, take it easy. Don't too much. Have a proper think about what you're tryin to achieve and whether it's worth it.

I would love if someone could draw me a cute little ghost sitting in a pool float with a drink in its hand, or a skateboarding ghost with a baseball hat on. Pretty please!

2023.06.10 22:31 JoshAsdvgi THE SNAKE MYTH

THE SNAKE MYTH

THE SNAKE MYTH
A Hopi Legend

At Tokóonavi, north of the Grand Canyon, lived people who were then not yet Snake people.
They lived close to the bank of the river.
The chief's son often pondered over the Grand Canyon and wondered where all that water went to.
"That must certainly make it very full somewhere," he thought to himself.
So he spoke to his father about it.
''So that is what you have been thinking about," the latter said. "Yes," his son answered, "I want to go and examine it."
The father gave his consent and told his son that he should make a box for himself that would be large enough for him to get into, and he should arrange it so that all openings in the box could be closed.
This the boy did, making also a long pole (according to others a long báho), with which he could push the box in case it became fast or tangled up anywhere.
When he was ready he took a lot of báhos and some food, went into the box, and allowed himself to be pushed into the water, on which he then floated along.
Finally he came to the ocean, where he drifted against an island.
He found the house of Spider Woman (Kóhk'ang Wuhti) here, who called him to come to her house.
He went over and found that he could not get through the opening leading to her house.
"How shall I get in?" he said; "the opening is too small."
She told him to enlarge it.
This he did and then entered.
He told her a story and gave her a báho, and said that he had come after beads, etc.
She pointed to another kiva away out in the water and said that there were some beads and corals there. but that there were some wild animals guarding the path to it.
"If you had not informed me, how could you have succeeded in getting there and how would you have gotten back?
But I shall go with you," she said, "because you have given me a báho, for which I am very glad."
She then gave the young man some medicine and seated herself behind his right ear.
He spurted the medicine over the water and immediately a road like a rainbow was formed from the dwelling of Spider Woman to the other kiva.
On this they went across the water.
As they approached the kiva to which they were going they first encountered a panther, who growled fiercely.
The young man gave him a green báho and spurted some medicine upon him, which quieted him.
A little farther on they met a bear, whom they quieted in the same manner.
Still farther on they came upon a wildcat, to which they also handed a báho, which quieted the animal.
Hereupon they met a gray wolf, and finally a very large rattle-snake (K'áhtoya), both of which they appeased in the same manner as the others.
They then arrived at the kiva, where they found at the entrance a bow standard (Aoát nátsi).
They then descended the ladder and found in the kiva many people who were dressed in blue kilts, had their faces painted with specular iron (yaláhaii), and around their necks they wore many beads.
The young man sat down near the fireplace, Spider Woman still being seated on his ear, but no one spoke.
The men looked at him, but remained silent.
Presently the chief got a large bag of tobacco and a large pipe.
He filled the latter and smoked four times.
He then handed the pipe to the young man and said: "Smoke and swallow the smoke."
The swallowing of the smoke was a test: any one not being able to do that was driven off.
Spider Woman had informed the young man about this test, so he was posted.
When he commenced to smoke she whispered to him: "Put me behind you."
This he did in an unobserved manner, so when he swallowed the smoke she immediately drew the smoke from him and blew it away, and hence he did not get dizzy.
The men who did not observe the trick were pleased and said to him:
''All right, you are strong; you are certainly some one.
Thank you.
Your heart is good: you are one of us; you are our child." "Yes." he said, and handed them some red nakwákwosis and a single green báho with red points, such as are still made in Shupaúlavi in the Antelope society.
They then became very friendly, saving that the were very happy over the báhos.
On the walls of the kiva were hanging many costumes made of snake skins.
Soon the chief said to the people:
"Let us dress up now," and turning to the young man bid him to turn away so that he would not see what was going on.
He did so, and when he looked back again the men had all dressed up in the snake costumes and had turned into snakes, large and small, bull- snakes, racers, and rattle-snakes, that were moving about on the floor hissing, rattling, etc.
While he had turned away and the snake People had been dressing themselves, Spider Woman had whispered to him that they were now going to try him very hard, but that he should not be afraid to touch the snakes; and she gave him many instructions.
Among those present in the kiva had also been some pretty maidens who had also put on snake costumes and had turned into serpents.
One of them had been particularly handsome.
The chief had not turned into a snake, and was sitting near the fireplace.
He now turned to the young man and said to him:
"You go now and select and take one of these snakes."
The snakes seemed to be very angry and the young man got frightened when they stared at him, but Spider Woman whispered to him not to be a coward, nor to be afraid.
The prettiest maiden had turned into a large yellow rattle-snake (Sik'á-tcua), and was especially angry.
Spider Woman whispered to the young man, that the one that acted so very angrily was the pretty maiden and that he should try to take that one.
He tried, but the snake was very wild and fierce.
"Be not afraid," Spider Woman whispered, and handed him some medicine.
This he secretly chewed and spurted a small quantity of it on the fierce snake, whereupon it immediately became docile.
He at once grabbed it, held and stroked it four times upward, each time spurting a little medicine on it, and thus freeing it from its anger.
The chief was astonished and said: "You are very something, thanks.
Now, look away again." He did so and when he turned back he saw that all the snakes had assumed the forms of men and women again, including the maiden that he had captured. They now were all very good to him, and talked to him in the kindest manner, because they now considered him as initiated and as one of them.
He was now welcome, and the chief invited him to eat.
The mána whom the young man had taken got from another room in the kiva some bread made of fresh corn-meal, some peaches, melons, etc., and set this food before the young man.
Spider Woman whispered to the young -man to give her something to eat too, which he did secretly.
She enjoyed the food very much and was very happy.
Now the chief asked the man why he came, etc.
"I hunt a lólomat kátcit (good life) and was thinking about the water running this way, and so this way it runs.
I have come also to get Hopi food from here.
I also heard that there lives a woman here somewhere, the Hurúing Wuhti, from whom I want beads."
"What have you for her?" they asked.
"These báhos," he said. "All right, you will get there.
But now you sleep here."
But Spider Woman wanted to get back.
He told them that he wanted to go out a little while.
Then he went and took Spider Woman home, and put her down.
She invited him to come and eat with her.
She had a pövö'lpik'i off which she lived and which never gave out, but he left her and returned to the Snake kiva, where he was welcomed and called brother and son-in-law (möö'nangwuu), although he had not yet married, but only caught the mána.
So he remained there.
That evening and night the chief told him all about the Snake cult, altar, etc., etc., and instructed him how he must put this up, and do that, when he would return.
He did not sleep that night.
In the morning he again went out on the same excuse as the previous evening, and went to Spider Woman, who went out. She made a rainbow road into the ocean to a high bluff where Hurúing Wuhti lived, and to which they ascended on a ladder. They went in and found an old hag, but on all the walls many beads, shells, etc.
The woman said nothing.
The young man gave her the báhos, then she, said faintly, "Áskwali!" (Thanks!)
At sundown she went into a side chamber and returned a very pretty maiden with fine buffalo and wildcat robes, of which she made a bed, and after having fed him, invited him to sleep with her on the bed.
Then Spider Woman ,whispered he should comply with her request, then he would win her favor and get the beads.
So he did as requested.
In the morning he awoke and found by his side an old hag, snoring.
He was very unhappy,
He stayed all day, the hag sitting bent up all day.
In the evening the change, etc., that occurred on the previous day was repeated, but the hag after this remained a pretty maiden.
He remained four days and nights with Hurúing Wuhti, who is the deity of the hard substances.
After four days he wanted to go home, so she went into a room on the north side and got a turquoise bead; then from a room west the same: from a room South a reddish bead (cátsni); from one east, a hard white bead (hurúingwa), a shell.
Then she gave him a few of all kinds of beads and told him to go home now, but charging him not to open the sack, because if he did they would be gone, and if he did not they would increase.
"You go to the Snakes, who will give you clothes, food, etc."
He then returned to the Snake kiva.
There he staved four days and four nights, sleeping with his wife.
When he was ready to go home the chief said: "Take this mána with you.
You have won us.
Take it all with you, take of our food.
Practice the ceremonies there that I told you about.
This woman will bear you children and then you will be many and they will hold this ceremony for you."
So they started.
At Spider Woman's house he told his wife, ''You stay here.
I will go to the rear."
So he went to Spider Woman's house and she asked:
''Well, did you get the mána?" "Yes," he said. "Well, you take everything along."
But she forbid him to touch his wife while they would be on the way, as then his beads would disappear and also his wife.
So they started.
The beads were as yet not heavy.
During the night they slept separately.
In the morning they found that the beads had increased, and they kept increasing as they went along the next day.
The next night they spent in the same way.
They were anxious to see whether the beads and shells had increased, but did not dare to do so.
The third night was again spent, and the contents of the bag increased the same as the previous two nights.
The bag with the beads and shells now became very heavy and the young man was very anxious to see them, but his wife forbade him to open the sack.
The fourth night was spent in the same manner, and when they arose in the morning the sack was nearly full and was very heavy.
Spider Woman had also put some strings into the bag with the beads, and the beads were strung onto these strings a,; they kept increasing.
They now approached the home of the young man, and the latter was very anxious to get home in order to see the contents, of the sack, so they traveled on.
When they had nearly one more day's travel to make the sack had become full.
During the last night the man opened the sack, although his wife remonstrated most energetically.
He took out many of the finest beads and shells and spread them on the floor before them, put them around his neck, and was very happy.
So they retired for the night.
In the morning they found that all the beads except those which Hurúing Wuhti had given to the man had disappeared. Hence the Hopi have so few beads at the present day.
If that man had at that time brought home with him all the beads which he had, they would have many.
So when they arrived at home they were very despondent.
At that time only the Divided or Separated Spring (Bátki) clan and the Pö'na (a certain cactus) clan lived at that place, but with the arrival of this young couple a new clan, the Snake clan, had come to the village.
Soon this new woman bore many children.
They were snakes who lived in the fields and in the sand. They grew very rapidly and went about and played with the Hopi children, whom they sometimes bit.
This made the Hopi very angry and they said:
"This is not good," and drove them off, so they were very unhappy.
The woman said to her husband:
"You take our children back to my home and there we shall go away from here alone."
Then the man's father made báhos, gave them to his son, who put all the snakes with the báhos into his blanket and took them back to his wife's home, and there told the Snake people why he brought their children and the báhos.
They said it was all right.
Hence the Snake priests, when carrying away the snakes from the plaza after the snake dance, take with them and deposit with the snakes some báhos, so that they should not themselves return to the village.
When the Snake man returned to his village lit and his wife traveled south- eastward, stopping at various places.
All at once they saw smoke in the distance, and when they went there they found a village perched son the mesa.
This was the village of Wálpi.
They at once went to the foot of the mesa on which Wálpi was situated and announced their presence.
So the village chief went down to them from the mesa, and asked what they wanted.
They asked to be admitted to the village, promising that they would assist the people in the ceremonies.
The chief at first showed himself unwilling to admit then), but finally gave his consent and took them up to the village.
From that time the woman bore human children instead of little snakes.
These children and their descendants became the Snake clan, of whom only very few are now living.
Soon also the Bátki and Pö'na clan came to Wálpi and found admittance to the village.
At Wálpi the Snake people made the first Snake típoni, Snake altar, etc., and had the first Snake ceremony.
From here the Snake cult spread to the other villages, first to Shongópavi, then to Mishóngnovi, and then to Oraíbi.
At the first Snake ceremony the Snake chief sent his nephew to the north, to the west, to the south, and to the east to hunt snakes.
He brought some from each direction,
The chief then hollowed out a piece of báho, made of cottonwood root.
Into this he put the rattles of three of the snakes and the fourth snake entirely.
He then inserted into it a corn-ear, and tied to it different feathers of the eagle, the oriole, blue-bird, parrot, magpie, Ásya, and topóckwa, winding a buckskin String around these feathers.
When he had made this típoni, the first ceremony was celebrated, and afterwards it took place regularly.

2023.06.10 22:31 BogusMB Options for Filling Above Ground Pool

So I made a deal with my kids - no screens between 8am and supper time during the summer - the catch... I had to buy a pool.
So I now have an 18' above ground, 4 foot deep pool and I need about 6,000 Gallons of Water to fill.
Is there a delivery company that would deliver chlorinated water in the city - I live in Fort Richmond if that helps?
If so, how much money approximately?
The other option is to fill myself from the house - not sure how long that takes but my understanding is its about 20 cubic meters I need so $150ish.
Look forward to hearing thoughts. Thanks!

2023.06.10 22:29 casablonca Not sure where to go next.

Up until this point I have continually been progressing in my field from lab assistant to quality manager. I was recently terminated due to a miscommunication that lead to loss of inventory. My previous company offered to hire me back immediately as a data reviewer making the same amount I was making as a manager, but this is a step down from where I was. I’m not sure how to proceed. I’d like to continue as a quality manager as I really enjoyed what I was doing and where I was headed. I’ve only been applying for QA jobs for three days and I don’t want to end my search prematurely. This data review job also does not allow for work from home which is a huge downside and reason I left originally. My financial situation is okay, I could float a few months before getting desperate. Should I take the step down? Can I be transparent with them that I won’t see myself there long term? Should I try to negotiate work from home? I don’t want to burn this bridge as well as it’s nice to have a backup.
I appreciate any help. I’ve not been thinking clearly as this has severely impacted my mental health.

2023.06.10 22:28 alien_nati0n Upgrade to a new type of bike?

Hi all, I’m a super amateur cyclist! I’m starting to get more into cycling and am wondering if anyone has advise on what type of bike would fit me/my lifestyle best?
I’ve been cycling into work 3x times a week (~12km ride one way) trying to increase my fitness. I want to start cycling around more on weekends etc as I live in a nice area in Quebec that has plenty of bike paths - and lots of cycling groups should I ever get to a good enough fitness level to not fall behind.
I currently own 2 older bikes but feel like neither quite fit my needs?
Looking for a bike that can:
Should I look into getting a gravel bike? Touring bike? CX bike? Or should I just suck it up and keep riding the mountain bike?
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a dumb question!

2023.06.10 22:27 OroraBorealis I am finally dating the boy I've loved since 6th grade!

Hi all, first time posting in here! I'm pretty long winded so I apologize in advance for how long this might get.
I am finally living a life that makes me wake up and feel grateful every single day, and my friends and family are kinda sick of me gushing about it, but I'm not sure I'll ever be done being amazed by how different life is, and I'll never stop wanting to proverbially shout it from the rooftops. So here I am, shouting into the void about it.
I (27F) am finally with the best friend I've had since I was 12, just a little sixth grader with a crush on the boy who liked the same show I did. My boyfriend (27M) and I have always kind of danced around our feelings for each other, but the timing was always off and one of us was always dating someone else. (I'm even still friends with one of his exes to this day!)
Well, when I was 19, I got with my now-ex (30M, was 23 when I met him). Best friend and ex did not get along, largely because my ex was a narcissist and was threatened by my best friend because despite the fact that it never worked out and he was dating the girl who I am still friends with today, my ex saw how much my best friend cared about me and didn't buy that we could be around each other without fooling around. I tried to placate both of them for a while, but then the best friend gave me an ultimatum that I could keep him as a friend or date the ex.
Being stupid and 19, I thought the best friend was just jealous that someone finally was serious about me (all of my relationships lasted 1month or less before him... But as it turns out, best friend just saw that ex was narcissistic and didn't want me to subject myself to the abuse that would follow). And because I thought he was being jelaous but knew that he wouldn't leave his girlfriend to be with me instead, I chose the ex, and spent the next eight years in a relationship with a narcissist who would cheat on me, accuse me of cheating constantly, emotionally manipulate me, gaslight me, and overall destroy my self worth and my support system.
Well, this January, I finally broke up with my ex, and he moved out by the end of January. Around that time, I made a post on Facebook explaining that we finally broke up after 8 years, thanked him for the lessons, yada yada. Well, I was still friends on Facebook with the best friend (I assumed he just never used it, he's not a big social media guy, so I never bothered unfriending him - thank god!), and a mutual friend of ours told him to go read my post, as he apparently was active on facebook but just blocked my posts from showing up on his feed.
So he read the post, and then he reached out, just trying to offer me support. He didn't know anything about how we broke up, so I think he assumed I'd be heartbroken after leaving an 8 year relationship... But I wasn't. I was cleaning my apartment and getting it looking nice now that I didn't have a man child to care for. I was going out to karaoke every weekend and enjoying my life. So when he reached out to me, I was so fucking happy to finally be able to mend the bridge I burned. I had been wanting to reach out to him for months, but I assumed he would have hated me for turning my back on him for so many years, and my anxieties told me that I didn't deserve his friendship, so it probably would have taken months for me to reach out to him.
But as soon as he reached out, all the insecurity fell away. He felt like home. We talked nonstop the entire week, and finally agreed to meet up that weekend for the first time since he gave me that ultimatum so many years ago. I told him me and a few work friends were going to karaoke that Friday night and asked him to meet us there.
Man, when I saw him for the first time in years, ALL my feelings came back for him. But I wasn't ready to open that can of worms yet, so I hugged him and pretended I didn't feel anything and just hung out with him and my friends like it was nothing.
But fast forward literally not even 2 weeks to my birthday, we'd already tackled, 1. The conversation about how our friendship ended, 2. Why things hadn't worked out for us as children, 3. That we still had feelings for each other, and 4. That he was willing to wait for me to feel ready to start dating again before we rushed into anything. He comes over to my place to work (remote job, night shift), and walks in with 2 dozen red roses. I kissed him for the first time that night and everything just felt so right. Not even 2 more weeks go by and we are dating, and in another 2 weeks, he's moved in with me.
At first, I was so scared. Scared that I was going to be toxic toward him because all I knew was a toxic relationship and the habits it gave me. Scared that maybe it was too good to be true and I needed to wait longer to see if he was going to stay as loving as he was. Scared that I was ruined and would never be happy, or be able to give him the kind of love he deserves. But something about him just makes things so.... Easy. It's easy to out in work on the house because I know its appreciated. Its easy to bare my soul to him because I know he hears me and understands me. It's easy to wake up smiling because I know he's right there when I reach over to him.
Its June now so I guess we've been together 4, going on 5 months, and it honestly is so unreal to me how different life is now. 7 months ago, I was crying silently in my bed while my ex was on discord with his friends playing games for the 8th consecutive hour (like always), feeling alone and unlovable, while my house was a mess and my life going nowhere.
Now, I wake up every morning to a boyfriend who is quite literally my best friend. He doesn't tell me that a kiss that lasts longer than a second is "too much", he grabs me by both sides of my face and kisses me until I am breathless. I don't have to beg him to clean up after himself, because he does it automatically. If I ask him to do something for me, he does it within 48 hours, if not within 48 seconds. He is kind and caring, he never raises his voice at me, hell he never gets mad. He treats me with so much love and compassion. He even supported my decision to get a cat, and calls him "our son". Ughgghhhhhhh 💕💕💕💕💕
I just hope this feeling never goes away. I hope I never stop getting butterflies when he looks at me, or find its hard to breathe when he tells me how much he loves me. I never want to forget the way his eyes lit up when he told me the story of the first time he realized he was in love with me when we were 18. I never want my skin to feel anything short of electricity when he touches me. I hope I get to spend every day of the rest of my life waking up to his beautiful spring green eyes looking at me, because I'm so goddamn grateful that the eyes are the one thing that will never change. When we're old and gray and falling apart, I know I'll still be able to look at his eyes and see nothing but love for me in them.
So yeah. I'm sitting on our couch at home, waiting for him to get out of band practice while our dinner simmers in the crock pot. I've got our kitty sitting next to me and my favorite show on the tv, and all I can think about is how goddamn lucky I feel that things turned out like this. I had no idea where life was going to take me when I finally found the courage to dump my ex. I was so terrified that I would lose my apartment, that I was a failure, that I would never find a love like the one we see in movies. But here I am, 6 months later, and my life feels like a movie!
So if there are any people out there stuck in a shitty relationship, scrolling through this community like I used to, just hoping to live vicariously through the posts for a while... I just want you to know there is definitely hope for you to turn things around. Find the courage to not settle, because you deserve happiness. I don't think I believed I would find it when I took the leap of faith I did in January, but I knew I deserved to give myself the opportunity to go looking for it. I couldn't be more happy that I did. I'm not saying your life will turn out exactly like mine did... but your own happy ending could be waiting for you. I hope you will be brave enough to go out and find it. You'll be glad you did.
And to anyone else who can say they're with the person of their dreams, and maybe have forgotten how lucky they are to be there, give your partner some extra love today. Show them how happy you are to have them in your life today.
Now, I'm gonna go do some dishes so my baby doesn't have to when he gets home, and maybe list the ways my life is better now that he's in it again. Bye!

2023.06.10 22:26 CB_scorpio Hatom Protocol - A Deep Dive Thread -Part I by @robolteanu

Hatom Protocol - A Deep Dive Thread -Part I by @robolteanu
With xLaunchpad around the corner and @HatomProtocol being officially the upcoming launch it's time to learn more about it.
A deep dive thread into the project aimed to improve your research before investing.
Let's get into it 👇 🧵

Hatom Protocol - A Deep Dive Thread
Here's the breakdown of what I'm going to cover in this thread :
🅐. Project Overview
🅑. Hatom Building Blocks
🅒. ESDT
Before we start with this thread, please don't rely only on my thread to do your research.
I've created this so you can have a better understanding of the project, but it's not an endorsement to buy into it.
Always create your own thesis!

🅐. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
The first question will always be: " What the hell is this project all about?"
@HatomProtocol is an incredible combination of different building blocks that aims to empower #MultiversX ecosystem.
At the base, Hatom is a liquidity protocol.
Two of the most important elements of @HatomProtocol will be the decentralized lending market and liquid staking module.
Those two features aim to radically change the way we are using #MultiversX.
It can be seen as a combination of Lido and Aave.
@HatomProtocol act as a decentralized bank and will offer liquid staking advantages to users on #MultiversX.
It aims to resolve the lack of #DeFi products on this chain and increase the overall liquidity.
It is no surprise that #MultiversX needs a suite of products to ignite the long-awaited DeFi era.
With a place where users can borrow funds and also get liquidity while securing the network, @HatomProtocol seems to have immense potential.

Let's delve into its modules 👇

🅑. 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀
This will be divided into three parts :
1️⃣. Lending Protocol = decentralized lending protocol
2️⃣. Liquid Staking = liquidity for staked $EGLD
3️⃣. Hatom Mush = isolated lending protocol.

1️⃣. 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹
The lending protocol is the first building block of the @HatomProtocol ecosystem.
You can think about this module as a decentralized bank.
How is it working?
https://preview.redd.it/a4xmig35n55b1.png?width=680&format=png&auto=webp&s=8c6566f30af5de6c1b9f0d426a36ac00b4427dd8
he lending protocol relies on two parties to work :
➡ Lender = provides liquidity by supplying tokens to a pool of assets;
➡ Borrower =borrow liquidity by taking these tokens from that same pool.
Why would someone supply its tokens to the lending protocol?
This process works exactly line in the real life with the banks.
A bank customer will deposit money into a saving account that is paying a certain APR.
The bank then uses the funds to accrue a higher return on that sum than what they are paying to the customer.
With @HatomProtocol, the lender will receive rewards from the borrowers.
The APR is not fixed and it all depends on the utilization rate of the funds.
It's an easy process to gain more rewards on your crypto bags without providing liquidity and having impermanent loss risk.
On the other hand, a borrower will need to deposit the assets into the lending protocol and activate them as collateral.
Once they do that, the collateral can be used to get a loan, based on a certain loan-to-value which depends on the asset criteria.
Here's an example 👇

https://preview.redd.it/abn7thv8n55b1.png?width=679&format=png&auto=webp&s=d423f24c216fd6d03409bc91bb4d8653beac6699
I would really encourage you to read the following thread for a better understanding of the lending protocol.
Once you read that, let's continue with the second building block.
[email protected]
https://preview.redd.it/zvyjvsjcn55b1.png?width=510&format=png&auto=webp&s=fbd0b6e35799fe5aad4451ed960ce60edae6d33e
2️⃣. 𝗟𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴
Proof of stake blockchains relies on stakers to increase the security of the network.
On #MultiversX, network security is achieved by staking $EGLD with one of the validators that are running nodes on the chain.

https://preview.redd.it/863ybskln55b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=be6ac59125dc0b93f6ad6d71785e2238e6fa6173
The main problem of traditional staking is illiquidity.
Once you delegate your tokens to a validator, they are locked up for a certain period of time.
During this time, you cannot sell or trade your tokens, which means your assets are illiquid.
@HatomProtocol aims to resolve this issue by creating the liquid staking module.
Users will be able to stake their $EGLD directly into the dApp and receive a receipt token called $sEGLD ( staked $EGLD ).
$sEGLD is a liquid asset and can be used in other protocols while earning rewards from staking.
In liquid staking, stakers don't receive additional $sEGLD over time.
Instead, the value of their existing $sEGLD increases algorithmically based on the liquid staking APY.
The lending protocol and liquid staking module will work very close together.
The fees earned by the project from the liquid staking will be used to bootstrap organically the money markets of the lending protocol.
There will be no inflation of the HTM token to incentivize users
Liquid staking is the new hot narrative in DeFi and will have a humongous impact on the ecosystem liquidity.
By holding liquid-staked assets, users can use their capital more efficiently.
You can read more about liquid staking here :
[email protected]
https://preview.redd.it/tj24d0wpn55b1.png?width=507&format=png&auto=webp&s=21ab3e00cf26e8b2ca3627ec2e2fd59d0a0e9b63

3️⃣. 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵
Mush will be an isolated lending protocol that will allow whitelisted projects to create their own lending pools, separated from @HatomProtocol ones.

https://preview.redd.it/hxbnwdzwn55b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=3118fbb12d3bb0399ec5c25c3980a898c426d59a
What's interesting about isolated lending pools?
🛡️ Risk Management
In shared lending pools, a single asset's value drop can impact the whole pool. In isolated pools, such a drop only affects that specific pool's participants.

🛠️ Customization
Each pool can have its own interest rates, collateral requirements, and other parameters, which can be tailored to the specific characteristics of the asset or pair of assets in the pool.

🎯 Asset Specificity
Isolated lending pools enable users to lend and borrow less liquid or volatile assets, which might be too risky for shared pools.

🔄 Greater Choice for Users
With isolated lending pools, users can choose to participate in the pools that best match their risk tolerance and investment strategy.
They can opt for pools with more stable, well-established assets, or they can choose pools with volatile assets.
@HatomProtocol will generate revenue from the set-up fees of each isolated lending protocol and from a percentage of their revenues.
A portion of the revenues generated will be transferred to the staking module and distributed to $HTM token stakers.

🅒. 𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗧
In this part of the thread, I'll be covering all types of tokens you will interact with on @HatomProtocol such as :
1️⃣. HTokens
2️⃣. Liquid Staking Tokens
3️⃣. Hatom USD
4️⃣. Synthetic Tokens
Let's dive straight into it 🤿

1️⃣. 𝗛𝗧𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻𝘀
To put it simply, HTokens are interest-bearing tokens.
This means that these tokens are designed to accrue interest over time, with the interest rate typically correlated to the supply APY from the lending protocol.

https://preview.redd.it/ndoqs8hcr55b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=0326aafb9aa429a7b5b9a1c549ddbe2ded9497c9
Users that choose to deposit their tokens into the lending protocol will receive these HTokens as a receipt.
As an example, if you want to lend $EGLD you will receive $HEGLD.
For $MEX you will receive $HMEX.
And so on.
Let's discuss some of HTokens utilities :
🛡️ 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹
Htokens can be used as collateral for borrowing in the lending protocol, thus providing liquidity to the user while they still earn interest on their deposits.

🌾 𝗬𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀
These tokens can be utilized in yield farming strategies or in vaults that automatically employ such strategies.
This can potentially provide users with an additional layer of returns on their holdings.

🔄 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆
Htokens can be traded on established decentralized exchanges, providing users with liquidity and the opportunity to earn from trading gains.

💵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴
You can also use HTokens to mint algorithmic stablecoins, such as HatomUSD ( $USH ), providing a further utility and potential source of yield for Htoken holders.

2️⃣. 𝗟𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻𝘀
@HatomProtocol will bring to life more derivatives of $EGLD token.
Let's discuss them all and find out what's their role.

https://preview.redd.it/br03o6eor55b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=902e247955b8edf65e21630886dd967b072b6727
➡ $𝘀𝗘𝗚𝗟𝗗
It's a reward-bearing version of $EGLD that is received when staking tokens into the liquid staking module.
The value of $sEGLD accrues interest following the liquid staking APY, which means that $sEGLD equals $EGLD plus the staking rewards accumulated.
In a concept akin to HTokens, the quantity of $sEGLD in the wallet won't increase.
However, the exchange rate will progressively rise in line with the liquid staking rewards that the position accumulates over time.

➡ $𝗛𝘀𝗘𝗚𝗟𝗗
This is the token that you will receive when providing $sEGLD to the lending protocol.
This reward-bearing version of $EGLD will not only receive the staking rewards but also the rewards from the lending protocol.
If you are looking to increase the rewards even further, $HsEGLD can be activated as collateral and earn additional rewards.
Must be noted that once it's activated as collateral, it will be sent from your wallet to @HatomProtocol and you can't use it anymore.

➡ $𝘅𝗘𝗚𝗟𝗗
Well, here is where the fun stuff begins.
$xEGLD is a leveraged liquid staking position that can earn up to 3 times more rewards than normal staking.
But how is this even possible and what are the risks?
Before I even start talking about it, it's mandatory to say that the @HatomProtocol team managed to create quite a unique concept similar to flashloans, called trusted loans.
These trusted loans offer the possibility to create or break $xEGLD without relying on a third party.
I won't get into the process behind the trusted loans as this probably needs a thread on its own.

Let's discover how $xEGLD is actually built to achieve that incredible APY 👇
Everything starts with the user depositing $EGLD to be converted into $xEGLD.
The smart contract is calculating the total position that can be built with that amount.
It then proceeds to take a trusted loan of X $EGLD and then stake it to receive $sEGLD.
The $sEGLD received will then be deposited into the lending protocol, activated as collateral and a loan will be taken against it.
The loan will then be used to pay the trusted loan of X $EGLD that was borrowed to build this position.
In essence, $xEGLD is a looped version of $sEGLD by depositing $sEGLD, taking a loan of $EGLD, staking it into a staking module, doing this over and over again.
It saves a lot of time, fees, and hassle by automating it.
All the liquid staking tokens will have their own pools on @ash_swap and can be used in other DeFi strategies to increase the yield.
You can also pass the cooldown period by selling your $sEGLD, $HsEGLD, or $xEGLD on DEXes.
Here's another way to by-pass the cooldown period :
[email protected]
https://preview.redd.it/5tkjs6z6u55b1.png?width=521&format=png&auto=webp&s=04dd4e5ae7c31a1d47607ba93ea14c87252515b4
I also talked about liquid staking tokens a few months ago.
You can find the in-depth thread about it here: 👇
[email protected]
https://preview.redd.it/mwnrsmlpv55b1.png?width=495&format=png&auto=webp&s=71ca71f341e559dd9c4623fc843262abc9096632
As you can clearly see, liquid staking tokens will open a gate to new liquidity.
The freedom to use them in other DeFi protocols to earn more yield it's absolutely mind-blowing.
Now let's move further and let's talk about Hatom USD.

3️⃣. 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗨𝗦𝗗 ( $𝗨𝗦𝗛 )
$USH will be the first decentralized over-collateralized stablecoin on #MultiversX.
It will be a native token minted directly on the chain with no bridge involved.
It can be minted with HTokens through isolated lending pools.

https://preview.redd.it/gcqjiy6yv55b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=a96a59801edb4fff9c4dfc647e4bdf75f6c16532
The amount of $USH that you can mint and take as a borrow depends on the value of the collateral you deposited and its loan-to-value factor.
You will still earn interest on the Htokens you provided as collateral as their value accrues over time.
What utilities lie behind $USH?
🚀 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽 𝗟𝗣𝘀
$USH can significantly bootstrap liquidity providers on the #MultiversX ecosystem.

🏁𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴
It adds more competition to the stablecoin borrowing market, potentially leading to better rates and terms for borrowers.

🛡️ 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹
$USH can be used as collateral to borrow from the lending protocol, providing additional liquidity while earning interest.

🌾 𝗬𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀
$USH can be shaped into structured products to earn more yields.
Lending protocols, farms, and vaults are the go-to places if you want to earn interest using your $USH.
$USH it's designed to be a powerful product of @HatomProtocol.
It will be minted using HTokens activated as collateral into the lending protocol.
$USH will be used in different LPs with the goal to bootstrap the liquidity across the chain.
$USH will come with some interesting features such as staking to receive $sUSH that can be used in different DeFi applications.
As with trusted loans, this is a subject that requires a thread on its own and I will have them as quickly as possible once the overview is done.
As it doesn't rely on any bridges, there are fewer risks associated with it.
The interest accrued from $USH minters will be directed to the @HatomProtocol treasury.
$USH minted by borrowers will be burned when it's sent back and the loan is paid.

4️⃣. 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻𝘀
Synthetic tokens are designed to simulate the value of another asset.
They maintain a 1:1 peg with their underlying asset, offering a way for that asset to be used on blockchains where it isn't natively supported.
Synthetic tokens are designed to simulate the value of another asset.

https://preview.redd.it/jcnpefq7x85b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=46217ec58527e9da3b2410592b5a59c918322874
Synthetic assets are often created by locking up collateral in a smart contract.
Typically, the collateral backing synthetic assets are over-collateralized, meaning its value exceeds that of the synthetic asset.
This surplus is essential for maintaining the asset's value.
On #MultiversX, synthetic tokens are bridged through AdAstra Portal, designed with security at its forefront.
In the future, you will be able to bridge assets such as $ETH, $BTC, $DAI, and many more to #MultiversX, opening the door to other DeFi opportunities.
Why would we need synthetic assets?
🌊𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆
They have the potential to bring greater liquidity to #MultiversX.
💰 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝘀
With very low transaction fees, #MultiversX is the perfect place to use those assets in different strategies.

🛡️ 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹
They can be used as collateral to borrow from the lending protocol.
This could create some nice opportunities for people bullish on other assets than $EGLD.

It's time to conclude the first part of this thread.
I'm sure this was helpful in learning the most important modules of the protocol.
In part two we will get a glimpse into the tokenomics, team, other features, and the potential future of this project.
@HatomProtocol is without any doubt a very complex project and will act as a liquidity hub on #MultiversX.
With a sophisticated user interface, yet very simple to use, and the necessary products to gain traction, I'm sure that it will be a great success.
And once again, never rely only on the information from this thread.
Make sure you do your own research and you know why you are investing in the project.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for part two!

I know it’s a long shot, but if anyone overhears something about “so and so didn’t make it so I have an extra tickler” while they’re in line today, feel free to let me know! I’m about 2 hours away in Chattanooga though…
Edit: Jesus the scammers are bad. Get a job!

Just get a PS5 Mike01Hawk, it'll be cheaper than building a PC Master Race you said, $4k later! Work in progress.
TL;DR: Went all ham and head first into VR racing.
Going thru a divorce so I'm enjoying some "Retail Therapy". Grew up in the Atari days, played GT extensively on the PS1/2 in College. Turned into a PC snob in the 2000s.
Current PC was long in the tooth, 980ti, so figured I'd see what they hype was around the PS5. Got one a month ago and started hearing all they hype around the PSVR2, so f it, YOLO and dropped the extra $$$.
Oh my, GT7 in VR is nucking futs! I wanted MOAR! So of course I went down the rabbit hole and ended up ordering an ASR4 rig with the Logitech Pro.
As for why I have a racing stand. The Logitech was on back order till July, so I thought I had some time to decide on an 8020 rig. Nope, got a notification last week that the wheel would be here Friday. I knew I'd be chomping at the bit to use it so I just punted and got the racing stand for the interim.
Holy crap this is intense!
I have several hours under my belt with just the controller on GT7. It's a completely different animal with the wheel. The sensation of speed is thru the roof! I could seriously feel my car rotating under me. It was a crazy feeling. Like my brain knows I'm stationary, but the feedback thru my hands paired with the VR seriously tripped up my brain and I felt like I was physically moving.
I know the DualSense controller has pressure buttons but I never liked the digital on/off feeling of the controller with my play style. I always felt darty and chunky, like I only knew on/off movements. With the analog input with the wheel and pedals, completely different game easing onto the brake and gas turning into and out of a corner. I also dabbled with using a manual transmission in the game now that I have flappy paddles that make it easier to control the trans. That's gonna be a whole new learning curve to now use the engine braking for corner entrances.
After each race finished I was physically tense and "on". Felt draining. Kinda like when you get finished with a rollercoaster and you come to your senses at the end when they slow you down before you have to get off.
As for the temp rig, yeah, total wobbly piece. Can't wait to get the rock solid tank of an 8020 rig and have a proper bucket seat and race posture and position.
Oh and yeah, my race car driving skills SUCK! I have sooooo much room for improvement. Can't wait to get more seat time and develope my skills!
I started to really think of the logistics of having a sim rig in my bedroom. Like just how the f is that gonna look and work. I guess just get long ass usb cables to go from the TV stand to the other side of the room for where the rig will be and just us VR. But that's a total ghetto ass solution. Probably just gonna say f it and have the rig in the living room and buy a dedicated 2nd PS5 just for the rig
It's also gonna be tempting to also have triples and a dedicated racing rig PC.
Now to go put my credit card in a block of ice so I won't be tempted to order the D-Box motion actuators. Yes, I know D-Box would require going to a PC solution :\
Damn it all to hell!

2023.06.10 22:22 MongooseNo4705 Is it wrong to feel jealous over my (19F) boyfriend (21M) going on a beach trip involving girls?

We’ve been dating for about 4 and a half months now and have been in a long distance for a month and a half because of his internship.
He recently mentioned that he’d be going on trip with his friends to the beach and might not be as available to text/call during the weekend. I was happy for him since he’d been drowning in work for the past few weeks and told him to have fun.
He left last night and posted a story, turns out there were girls too leaving with their friend group. He didn’t mention that, I thought it’d be just another boys’ weekend trip.
I know it comes from a place of insecurity but it made me very uncomfortable. So much that the moment I saw his story my body physically felt weird and hot. I know this is unhealthy how do I not overthink this?
I tried putting it off my mind so that I could study for exams but then he posts a story again with him in a group picture at the pool shirtless with everyone and he was holding this one girl by the shoulder. I know it’s very normal, especially for group photos.
Those girls aren’t even prettier than me. Why do I keep feeling uncomfortable?
I do not want to come off as clingy and ask him why he didn’t tell me about this when I talk to him on call tonight.
2 months ago he was on call with me and did not exactly hang up but I thought he did. I overheard him talking to his friends about how the party was disappointing because he was expecting to get popular with the girls. Turns out he purposely said that to get me jealous and get a reaction out of me because we were newly dating at the time but did not deny it. He said who doesn’t want to get popular with girls, you’re my girlfriend of course but popularity feels nice.
So a guy who actively seeks validation from random females to feel better going on a trip with girls feels uncomfortable.
TL;DR Is it wrong of me to feel jealous over my (19F) boyfriend (21M) going on a beach trip involving girls? How do I stop this feeling? How do I express it to him that I was jealous.

2023.06.10 22:18 Dragonproof_Castle M4F: Valkyrie Down: A 40k plot

Metal screeched into the sky, followed by thick gouts of smoke and sparks as the engine died, spluttering out with its turbines. The Valkyrie transport seemed to slump, dipping it’s nose before the pilot yanked back on the stick. Panicked, his partner twisted in his seat to check on the cargo, even as shells from Ork Autocannons slammed into the hold. Below, the toxic ash wastes beckoned, promising radioactivity and death. All this, just for a damned box!

Miles away from the Valkyrie and it’s plight, an enormous lander ship set itself down upon a hive city’s landing pads ungracefully. Grotesque servitors and tech priests scurried around the huge, boxy ship like ants as steam hissed from the unfurling ramps, allowing daylight to flood into the ship. The massive object within stood patiently like a coiled spring, waiting for clearance to move out even as a welcoming party assembled to watch the spectacle.

For the stricken Valkyrie, there was no welcoming committee. There was only industrial waste leaning up from the radioactive fog, cranes and beams reaching up toward the craft as it’s altitude got lower and lower. With.the wastes eager to claim their prize, the co pilot began frantically lobbing things out of the side doors. Food, ammunition, even seat cushions crossed the short distance to the toxic, fog shrouded sands below . For a brief moment, he considered throwing the box out too, before he remembered who had given them their mission. It was imperative that the cargo stayed. Not like a box that small would affect the weight.

The hive’s pads and strurs trembled as shockwaves rolled through them,, heralding the arrival of the lander’s occupant: the Phoenix Imperator. The collosal, twelve metre tall Imperial Knight stepped out onto the pads, pistons and servos powering huge feet that crashed onto the worn metal of the pad. It was hard to believe that all the power the war machine held was controlled by a single man, encased in Adamantium and Ion shields, with a Thunderstrike Gauntlet and heavy stubber to protect it. The true power of the Imperial Knight however was in it’s Thermal Cannon, capable of reducing tanks to a pool of molten metal in an instant, or vaporising bunkers in the blink of an eye.

Out amongst the Ash Wastes, no amount of adamantium could protect the pilots of the Valkyrie from it’s fate. Leering up from the toxic smog, the Valkyrie’s pilots didn’t spot a piece of rubble until it was far, far too late. The Valkyrie blundered into it’s doom as steel ripped apart the remaining engine. An explosion bloomed like a flower, beautiful and deadly before shrapnel eagerly tore through the pilot’s helmet. The aircraft span out of control wildly, ploughing into the radioactive soil and scraping out a long trench before it came to a rest on it’s side, it’s cargo strung out all over the terrain.

The crash meant nothing to most of the figures circling the Phoenix Imperator as it strode across the pad, almost shrouded in incense. As the vibrations from the Knight’s footsteps passed through the teeming mass of spectators, it unknowingly entered a second battlefield, far more destructive than the teeming hordes of Orks beyond the hive’s walls. A battlefield where it was prey.
Even as the knight's scion moved his war machine past her podium, the governess of the world remained scowling. Not only had her court techpriest ordered one her own Valkyries on an unsanctioned mission, she'd chosen to do so using two of her best pilots. Privately, she hoped it crashed. That way, it'd sabotage the Techpriest's schemes and allow her to send out a search party to steal whatever it was she wanted, right from under her nose. She already had the party lined up, including a promising girl from her own retinue of bodyguards. Besides, she could lure the Knight scion in with promises of power and wealth. If only that damned inquisitor would keep her nose out...
Arethia Jyre. That, as far as the governess was concerned, was the name of the inquisitor. An alter ego, but she didn't care what some bratty little governess thought. The inquisitor was here on the business of her ordo, especially where the Adeptus Mechanicus was concerned. She knew one of them had sent out a Valkyrie- even put a tracker on it. What she didn't know was what the cargo was. Still, she could always send out a party of inquisitorial agents to seize it, or recover the cargo should it crash. It would be a good test for a particularly enterprising young woman in her retinue. She'd be able to report back on this knight as well. If he was any good, he'd be a valuable addition to an inquisitorial retinue...
Of course, the governess and the inquisitor would want the Valkyrie and it's cargo. But, as far as the Adepta Sororitas Abbess was concerned, the relic contained within should be hers. After all, the ecclesiarchy dealt with faith and relics. Her sisters in the Orders Famulous knew what roughly the cargo would be, after all. Still, a rapid response unit of Sisters was prepared for anything, especially if the Valkyrie should fail to arrive. She'd ensured one of her own protégés was amongst the force. It would be a good test, if nothing else. Perhaps she'd even convince the Knight scion to save his soul and align with her convent...
The techpriest had given the now-wrecked Valkyrie it’s mission, after all. She'd damned the pilots of the gunship to slow deaths, be it through the blood that left the pilot’s body or the onslaught of radiation that now ensnared his partner. She had plans and grand designs for the cargo they had been ordered to carry at any cost, and would stop at nothing to see those plans come to fruition...
Hey there! Here I go again, posting a 40k prompt for the upteenth time! You'd have thought I'd learn my lesson by now but no, here my persistent ass is!
You may have also guessed by now that I’m a huge 40k fan! Also a fan of big stompy robots and forbidden romances, so it’s fairly natural that I’d make a knight focused plot. To set things in stone:

We’re on a hive world being visited by the local Ork Waaaagh! and you know what that means.
Meanwhile, there’s a 4 way political cold war between the governess of this planet, the sisters of battle, the admech and the Inquisition. To help turn the tide against the greenskins, I’ve just arrived in my Imperial Knight, completely unaware of the mess I’ve wandered into! Of course, this being the Imperium, everyone wants an Imperial Knight for an ally. Depending on how the dice rolls, we could be fighting orks, tyrannids, the Imperium or chaos.
AS FOR YOUR CHARACTER You’ll notice I’ve left your character pretty much open ended. That’s intentional! Ideally, you'll play a character within the retinue of either the Inquisitor, governess, techpriestess and the abbess, where you'll be sent with me on a mission that then kicks off the plot and its many consequences.

Obviously, there's a lot to read here, and a lot of lore backing it up. With that being said, Don't be too concerned or intimidated if you don't know too much about 40k. I don't bite much and the great part about being a 40k nerd is sharing the knowledge, so I'm happy to help out! I mainly RP on discord, but I’m happy to do PMs!

It is a small alliance of guilds that we coordinate with to ensure our players can play with a progressive group, no matter their current personal schedules. The members of our alliance often float between guilds depending on how much time they have to play or what they have to offer to the current reward meta. We strive to be the last SWGoH group our members ever need. Our discord server is the result of this mentality and the heart of our community. Use the link below to swing by and check things out. 2023.06.10 22:17 yung_kfcasserole Is this greatest season in NBA history?

Is this greatest season in NBA history?
I can't for the life of me remember any other time we were granted with as many moments this season has offered us.
From Draymond Green abusing Jordan Poole to Zion fucking pornstars, this season has kept up its pace all year long and never slowed down. This season isn't even over yet and I feel compelled to bring this up.
There's SO SO SO many more I wish to write down but I'm afraid our 3rd grad reading level wouldn't be able comprehend the amount of words I could put down onto this text.
Let us come together to write out our favorite moments this season has given us this far and see if they can answer the question I bring forth.
I'll go first. Do y'all remember when James Harden decided to have an AWFUL shooting performance when he was playing right in front of a fan who had just come from another shooting? I mean you just can't make this stuff up

2023.06.10 22:16 mrRabblerouser WTS- TRC, Shirogorov, Hinderer, Emerson, GEC, Northwoods, RGT

Ok folks, I’ve been meaning to whittle down my collection quite a bit for a while, and I just bought a new car, so no time like the present!
Timestamp + Extras
TRC Mille Cuori- One of the best fixed blade makers in the game. This one is BNIB and is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect do everything camp/survival/utility knife with steel butt. This one typically sells out very quickly whenever dealers get it in stock. DLC coated Vanadis 4E (V4E) steel. Comes with box. SV: 400
TRC This Is Freedom- Awesome slicy fixed blade that cuts like a laser. I’ve used it a few times in the kitchen even on some very difficult cuts and thanks to TRCs outstanding heat treat it’s still shaving. M390 steel, and again due to the ht this thing is super tough. Check out DBK video on the much smaller classic freedom to see what I mean. Some very hard to see micro scratches on blade. Comes with box. SV: 250
Shirogorov Neon NL (black and white micarta)- I’m the second owner but neither I or the previous owner used or carried it. Gorgeous flawless Shiro quality of course. Smooth and fiery action. Comes with box, cloth and CoA. SV: 475
Hinderer XM-18 3” Slicer- This one has RC bladeworks micarta scale, Skiff bearings, and a deep carry clip. Awesome knife, great quality. Ive used it to cut a few things, but still shaving sharp. Comes with triway, original green scale, and box. SV: 375
Emerson Mini A-100- BNIB. Always hard to find this one in stock, but after a long time of waiting I finally did. Love the simplicity and aesthetics, but it just didn’t make the cut for me. SV: 200
GEC #59 Shaffer Farm Whittler (Desert Ironwood)- BNIT. Only taken out when I first got it, and just now for photos. Typical GEC quality. A little scuff on big blade. SV: 175
Northwoods Bear Lake (Blueberry burlap micarta)- Beautiful slippy. I used it to cut open a box once or twice but has basically just sat in the sheath since I got it. Comes with coin and leather sheath. SV: 275
RGT titanium scales for Spyderco Native 5. These are green anodized with blue accents. I put them on and then realized I preferred the carbon fiber scales. These will fit the fluted carbon fiber or g10 versions of the Native, but not the lightweight. Paid 180 for these, but I know they were on sale recently. I’ll say SV: 80
Not interested in trades unless you wanna trade for an Oz Roosevelt. PayPal F&F, no notes. Ships Monday with USPS and tracking will be provided.

My first youth player is outgrowing his place...
My very first youth star I signed to my academy is getting too high of a rating for his place.
I scouted him in my first season, from Estonia. Seppänen, the right wing beast. I am half way through my 4th season now and he has reached the rating of 85.
Issue is, Saka is currently sat in that position at 94 rated, and he cannot be budged. He is too good to be swapped out, and I just like him as a player (some bias as I am an Arsenal fan).
What do I do with Seppänen? He got me manager targeg of signed a player under 20 with higher potential objective, and the objective of playing somebody signed the first year 30% of the second year. He also took a paycut of £15k and the end of last season without his agent throwing a fit as I needed to reduce player wages by that extra £15k to meet the financial objective.
What should I do? Do I let the Estonian Beast go? I have a weird feeling of loyalty towards him as I have never stuck with a youth pkayer this long. And (I think where I have been graced with decent manager objectives), I didnt get bored after 2 seasons, and have never done 4 seasons before. It is like, with the objective I have achieved using him, he is loyal to me as a manager and my manager to him as a player?
Do any of you have attachments to any players? Specifically youth graduates you cant part with?

2023.06.10 22:15 Terrible_Yolk12 What should I do after not getting a promotion I believe I deserved?

For context, I (24M) work as a sales analyst for a big (not huge) company in my country. I have been at the company for almost 3 and a half years, and at my current position for almost a year and a half. I know it is not a lot of time, but for refference, out of all the analysts in the area (12 in total, not counting another 3 who quit in the last 6 weeks because they found better jobs) Im in the top 3 regarding seniority (in time) in the area (and the only one who has been in the company for over 2 years). Recently a Sr position opened in the area, and I requested the position, together with a workmate who started in the company about 6 months ago. Given that I often work overtime (even though I am not paid to do so - it is legal in my country), I have the most knowledge of the business given the time I´ve been here, and the fact that my boss regularly tells me that he is very happy with my work, I really thought I was the logical choice for the position. Last week my boss and I had a meeting in which I was told I was not getting the promotion, but my workmate was. When I asked why him and not me, he told me it was because my coworker had managed to make "transformational changes" in his position, which I had not; to which I responded by saying I am constantly swamped and answering requests form different managers, and have to dedicate my own time whenever I want to do something "extra" or improve an existing process/task. Even though he acknowledged that I have the heaviest workload and the most challenging position in the area, he said that I never approached him asking to postpone other tasks in order to spend time making these "transformational changes". Before this, I really saw myself working for a long time in this company, but now I really dont feel like my work is appreciated. I'm going to stop doing overtime (which often included weekends) and basically start to do the bare minimum, since I don't believe my effort is being valued. Should I start looking for a job elsewhere? O ir is it too drastic?
PD: I also want to clarify that I have nothing against the guy who got the job. I know the is s good worker, but I´ve talked to some other coworkers and they told me they were also surprised when they heard I didint get the job.

2023.06.10 22:15 FLXLGHT should i focus on this girl i met ?

sorry in advance, i talk a lot in person and just want to make this clear haha
a few days ago, me and a few friends(me20,19,21,21,29) were on vacation in croatia and we were having the time of our live to say the least. beer was cheap, the weather was good. time of our life… on the second evening (2/4) we went to the beach to grab some drinks at a bar. we sat down, chugged a few beers (i drove, i stayed sober) and had fun. then, randomly, a friend almost jumped up to hit up 3 girls that were walking down the beach to ask them how old they were as we were all speculating on how old they could be. they said they were 17. we thought about it for a few seconds until they had already said down with us and ordered a few shots. after a few seconds it was already clear for me who my favorite was out of them(the way she talked, looked, smelled and just behaved made me go crazy) we talked for abut and told them we rented like a villa with our private pool and that we were living like kings (at least for a few days). apparently, that made them decide to come with us. we went to the house, undressed to the bare minimum (underwear) and got in the pool. after that we had a few drinks and i had some really nice talks with this girl and we sort of flirted for a bit here and there and they slept at ours. the next day, they went home to change and got back after a while to make us some breakfast (fuckin delicious btw.) during the last full day we had, we all went to the beach again and just sat there, talked for a few hours, got in the water, and threw some rocks in there, all while i and this girl tried to find some nice little rock’s and shells for the other to look at. the evening came and we were at the house again, drinking and having a great time. as the night settled in, me and this girl were laying on the couch, here legs like over mine as i was sitting up. we talked and talked and we really found some similarities and things we both liked about the other or just at all. slowly, a thunderstorm started to sneak up on our house and i told i really like listening to the thunder and the rain, although she really didn’t like it at all. after a while of still talking, i switched off the lights as she was slowly falling asleep. as i was walking towards my room i said fuck it. i turned around, asked her if she wanted some company on the couch, to comfort her during the thunderstorm. she said yes. i laid down beside her and she snuggled up on me. let me tell you that was the greatest feeling i’ve had in a long time. the warmth, her just holding onto me, the smell of her hair, it was just perfect. but here comes the best part. at some point i wake up, realize what a great time im having, as she starts to slowly grab my hand and pulling me even closer to her. i fell asleep shortly after but we woke up in the morning still holding hands and if think it was absolutely beautiful.
this was about 6 days ago and i’m still on cloud 9, as we’re still talking over snapchat and she really shows interest in the convo and in me in general. i gave her my hoodie she slept in that night and she just sent me snaps of her wearing and using it as a pillow or just to snuggle up.
now here’s the question : she lives about 4 hours of driving away and is 3 years younger than me. should i keep on going, maybe ask her to talk via facetime or should i let her go ? i can’t say im in love but everytime i think of her i smile and i really think we would make a great couple just from a few days of knowing her. i know this sounds stupid, but i really believe in this
