2023.06.08 20:44 jizzmyoscar Update from the Parking Garage Jumper

Hey stopdrinking, it's me, the guy who destroyed half his body in a failed suicide attempt. Thought I would drop in and give you guys an update on the last several weeks.
The hospital I was in searched for several weeks to find me a care facility or a rehab facility. According to them, facilities didn't want to take me until I could bear weight on my legs, and they were wary of admitting someone who had attempted suicide. Basically, I looked really bad on paper. Fair enough, I thought. I'll wait it out here in the hospital until I regain weight bearing status, and then they can more easily find me a place. Wrong. Very wrong. Their solution, keeping in mind that no one in my family had the capability of caring for me when I was wheelchair bound, was to send me to drumroll please a homeless shelter. Yes, a homeless shelter in a city I'm very much not familiar with. I cried when the nurse told me this. A transport van came and took me to the shelter. Once there, they took all my stuff, including the books and drawing supplies that were a key part of maintaining my positive attitude. This was around 2pm. They then escorted me into their chapel (major red flag for me), where I sat for several hours while old western movies were projected on a large screen. More people trickled in as the hours passed. Finally, at 6pm, dinner was served. No comment. When we shuffled back into the chapel, the stage had a bunch of speakers and music equipment. Cool, live music. No. What followed was a mandatory hour long sermon delivered by a twiggy fucking need singing shitty Christian pop songs and reiterating time and again how I would end up in hell without good old JC in my heart. He punctuated his sermon with plenty of "dudes" and "bros" to let us know he was a totally hip guy. I was furious. I have no problems with anyone's religion. But this shit was being shoved down my throat, and I am absolutely NOT ok with that. Once it was over I asked the guy next to me what we did now. "We go to bed." So I rolled down the hall and climbed into a bottom bunk in a room with 5 other bunk beds. At least 3 of my roommates snored. Somehow I managed a few hours of sleep. In the middle of the night I needed to use the bathroom. Well, my wheelchair wouldn't fit in their main bathroom. I was directed to the shower room. The tight confines there wouldn't allow me to turn into their handicapped stall. The man they had standing guard over the shower room had to lift up the back wheels of my chair to point me into the stall. Afterwards I went back to my bunk and laid awake with my eyes closed until the 6am wake up call. First thing in the morning, everyone is required to shower. Well, they didn't have accommodations for someone wheelchair bound in their showers, so I couldn't do that. At 7am, everyone was required to leave for the day until curfew at 4:30. I got a day pass, which meant I once again would be sitting in the chapel all day watching shitty daytime TV. At one point I asked for help to get into the bathroom stall. The workers looked confused. Turns out I shouldn't legally be there. Them helping me into the stall was a liability. After they made confused calls to the hospital I came from, the only logical conclusion anyone could draw was sending me to a different hospital.
So 911 was called and I was whisked by ambulance to the emergency room, where a confused staff tried to make sense of what was happening to me. I was admitted, and spent the next couple weeks there. On the 24th of last month, I was finally able to put weight on my legs. I walked for the first time in nearly 3 months. It hurt like hell. The combination of nerve pain, serious injuries, and atrophied muscles was certainly not fun. But I was ecstatic to reach the milestone. A hospital social worker soon informed me they found a rehab hospital for me. I looked at their website. Damn, it was a nice place. Really nice. Then I got a UTI and an infection in my lungs. Yay. Managed to kick it with a hefty several rounds of antibiotics. A few days later, I arrived at the rehab hospital, where I sit now.
I started with the daily 3 hours of physical and occupational therapy on Monday. According to my occupational therapist, I far surpassed the goals she set for me in the first few days. I'm walking at least a few hundred feet each day with the aid of a walker. In just 4 days I have felt an enormous amount of progress. Walking still hurts a fair amount when I put weight on my left leg, and I expect to use a walker for at least a few more weeks. Stairs are also gonna be an obstacle. But I fully believe I'm headed in the right direction.
I will still have a lot of work to do once I get back home. I have a lot of trust I need to start rebuilding with family and friends. I need to figure out what I'm going to do for work now. Going back to being a chef is kinda outta the question now. But that's OK, I can now go back to enjoying cooking for myself and people I love. I need to find a new place to live. I'm open but slightly hesitant about the prospect of a sober living house. I don't do well with roommates. But these are all issues to tackle as they come. Hopefully I won't have anymore hiccups that equal what I've already been through. Either way, I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes. Sorry about the long winded post! Talk to you folks soon!

2023.06.08 20:43 akhatib1987 How can I improve my times?

Background: New to proper sim racing rig (1 month using fantec DD pro wheel and pedals with playseat trophy) but previously used Logitech G923 and have been casually playing with controller on and off for several years and have kart raced semi professionally over 10 years ago.
Playing the GT7 time trials I can get to bronze but no matter how much I grind out laps I cannot get silver or gold. Roughly within 5% of the top time or just within the top 20,000 times e.g. current Le Mans time trial I can’t get under 3m 30s.
I’ve watched the video guides on YouTube and loaded the ghosts on the top times and still no luck.
How can I improve to be in the gold category? What am I missing? Is it wheel setting I need to tweak or it’s there a way I can practice how to trail brake etc . Sometimes I can set a faster time going back to using the controller.
Any help/guidance appreciated as I’m starting to question my rig purchase if I can’t be more competitive.
Thanks all.

2023.06.08 20:42 c1eid Troubleshooting clicking sound coming from front wheel

I picked up a pair of Syncros RP 2.0 Disc wheels that are OEM on some Scott Addict models (wheels had been taken off a new bike). I set these up tubeless with 32 mm GP 5000's, used them for a few rides and all was well.
Then I had a cold for a week or so and when I came back to the bike the tyres had lost a lot of pressure. I inflated them back to my desired pressure of 4/3.5 bar (reafront) but during my ride I now have a clicking sound coming from the front wheel and it is mighty annoying.
It seems to occur once per wheel revolution and only when the wheel is under load (i.e. not in the bike stand). Any ideas on what the cause might be? I have tightened the valve stem nut and inflated to 5 bar and back down to desired pressure and it's still there.
I checked the spoke tensions and they average 68 kgf (front left) and 50 kgf (front right). Is it normal/acceptable to have such a large difference? The rear wheel uses has an even greater 47 kgf (rear right) to 77 kgf (rear right) difference.
Where else should I be looking for the source of this noise? Thanks in advance.

Misc Parts for sale
Im in Colorado and I’m trying to get rid of some pieces that don’t need replacing. Long story short got into a small incident November of 2022 and had to wait on these parts to come in. HOWEVER from the way the car looks these pieces don’t seem to need to be replaced. All items are brand new, direct from Subaru. Best I could do was take pics of the part no.’s so as not to remove it from packaging. There’s a driver side wheel well cover, radiator support, skid plate, front and rear skirt spats, and also a piece of the fender flare on driver side rear. Let me know if anyone needs these. Again, brand new never used. Will sell just a bit cheaper than dealer price. Let me know thank you!

2023.06.08 20:33 cakeville Tire troubles - 19" Kumho Crugen HP71

I have a US spec 2022 Wind AWD with 23,000 miles on these Kumho tires. In my less than 9 months of ownership I've had two tires patched from slow leaks and I just had to have the foam lining removed from a tire since it separated from the inner tire wall and created massive vibrations in the steering wheel. With one of the patches my local shop pulled a stone that was less than 1/4" from the tread where it punctured the tire. Yes, it was pointy and sharp but also comically tiny.
I'm I just extra special lucky or are others having issues with these tires? I really hope there are more options for our vehicles when it comes time to replace these.

2023.06.08 20:30 khoafraelich789 2023 Ford F-150 price and specs

2023 Ford F-150 price and specs

https://preview.redd.it/jps573afqc3b1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=f305e7736e036acda22864f4e62e1fa7e6e44135
The locally remanufactured Ford F-150 is priced from $106,950 before on-road costs. It'll arrive in the third quarter of 2023

Orders for the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado-rivalling Ford F-150 pickup have now opened ahead of first arrivals in the third quarter of this year.

The F-150 range starts at $106,950 before on-road costs for the XLT SWB in Australia, and extends to $140,945 before on-roads for the Lariat LWB.

The first batch of vehicles set to be remanufactured from left- to right-hand drive is now on a boat to Australia from Dearborn, Michigan.

The F-150 will be remanufactured to right-hand drive by RMA Automotive at a facility in Mickleham, Victoria – unlike the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado, which are imported (by Ateco and GMSV, respectively) and remanufactured in right-hand drive by Walkinshaw in Clayton, Victoria.

Two trim levels will be offered in the F-150 locally, both of which can be had in either short- (3683mm) or long-wheelbase (3987mm) guise. Regardless of which length you opt for, the F-150 will feature a two-row crew cab in Australia.

Unlike its American pickup rivals with their V8 engines, the F-150 will be powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The EcoBoost engine makes 298kW of power and 678Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels through a four-wheel drive system

With a braked towing capacity of 4500kg, the F-150 matches the Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500 when it comes to claimed heavy hauling ability.

The car will be backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, and will be sold and serviced through the Ford Australia dealer network.

Ford Australia is aware of the F-150 Hybrid, Raptor, V8, and electric Lightning options. It hasn’t ruled out bringing them Down Under, but only once the remanufacturing process is established and demand for the EcoBoost has been proven.

Pricing
2023 Ford F-150 XLT SWB: $106,950
2023 Ford F-150 XLT LWB: $107,945
2023 Ford F-150 Lariat SWB: $139,950
2023 Ford F-150 Lariat LWB: $140,945

Powertrain
The entire 2023 Ford F-150 range is powered by a 3.5-litre ‘EcoBoost’ twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 298kW of power and 678Nm of torque.

This is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through a four-wheel drive system.

The XLT variants have a part-time four-wheel drive system with 2H, 4H, and 4L modes, whereas the Lariat variants have a full-time four-wheel drive system with a 4A mode.

This V6 EcoBoost petrol engine uses a pair of injectors per cylinder along with twin-intercooled turbochargers that’s claimed to minimise lag.

Efficiency
Ford Australia hasn’t detailed fuel economy figures for the local F-150 range.

In the US the F-150 variants with the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 and engine idle stop-start are claimed to consume 20 miles per gallon (mpg) according to EPA combined cycle testing. This equates to 11.8L/100km.

It’s unclear at this stage if the remanufactured, right-hand drive F-150s sold locally will have engine idle stop-start, nor what the fuel tank size will be. In the US it’s available with either a 98L tank as standard and a 136L long-range tank as an option.

Dimensions
The 2023 Ford F-150 range is available exclusive in four-door Crew Cab guise with either a short-wheelbase (SWB) or long-wheelbase (LWB) body styles.

The F-150 SWB has a wheelbase of 3683mm with a 1676mm styleside tub, whereas the F-150 LWB has a 304mm longer wheelbase at 3987mm long with a 1981mm styleside tub.

All F-150 models have a braked towing capacity of 4500kg. Payload capacities remain unclear at this point.

Servicing and Warranty
The Ford F-150 is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty like the rest of the Australian lineup.

Ford Australia hasn’t detailed service intervals or pricing as of yet.

Safety
The Ford F-150 hasn’t been tested by Australian crash testing authority ANCAP yet, so for now it remains unrated.

In the US the F-150 was awarded a five-star safety rating according to testing conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The 2023 Ford F-150 comes standard with the following safety features:

Six airbags
Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)

2023.06.08 20:29 Starfs Abs wheel speed sensor issue

Ok, so I'm having some issues with a honda crv 2008. The issue appeared for the first time in january (cold climate, ice/snow/salt). Where the brakes would sometimes start "pulsing" before the abs light came on and the car disabled the abs which made the pulsing dissappear. This got gradually worse and in May it was permanent at the start of every drive. The abs module is throwing DTC 17-01 rear left speed sensor open/short and DTC 18-01 rear left speed sensor failure. I tried teplacing the speed sensor with a new one but this changed nothing. Same codes and behaviour. I have checked the values coming from the speed sensor and compared to the right rear. The left rear has a lot of downward spikes in reported speed (Attached pictures of graphs for comparison). graphs I have checked the wires from where the wheel speed sensor connects all the way forward to the abs module with a multimeter. The resistance of both lines is about 2 ohms. I also measured the resistance of the new sensor itself which measured to 17Mohm. According to several internet sources this is very high, but it is the same for the rear right sensor.
Am I missing something? Is the new part bad or might it be the abs module itself? Hugely greatful for any advice, I am studying at the moment and haven't really got a lot of money to throw at the problem.

2023.06.08 20:23 GodricofTheSanctum Just wrapped up my second round of WoT and this time did New Spring as well. Did New Spring leave anyone else with the feeling of wanting more?

As stated above. New Spring left me feeling as if it were unfinished. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it! And yes, I know it’s meant to feel unfinished because you get the rest of their story when reading the whole series. That’s not what I’m talking about here.
I’m left with the feeling of wanting more from Siuan’s story. Like how she went from being in New Spring to becoming Amyrlin Seat? I didn’t need the entire story of it, but it would have been awesome to have learned a bit more of how her life was one she returned to the White Tower. (Maybe I’m forgetting that it was covered within the other books but I don’t remember it.)
Again, I loved New Spring! And love The Wheel of Time. I just wanted more explored.

Is this more than you bargained for yet? Sugar, We're Goin Down is our winner for S! A timeless classic. We have some great options again today for T, take a look at the list and pick your favorite! Most upvoted comment wins!
Also, FYI, technically 27 and 20 Dollar Nosebleed could be eligible for today, because the numbers start with the letter T (shoutout u/Sweet-Ad-2477 for this info) however, I've decided that since I want to do an all number songs round at the end that it would be too confusing if they were eligible twice. Hopefully that makes sense lol.

2023.06.08 20:20 DaLateDentArthurDent Foo Fighters newest album “But Here We Are” has been out almost a week and it might actually be their best work in years

I appreciate the sentiment about Foo Fighters, they’ve got some classics but since Wasting Light it’s felt like they were spinning their wheels a little bit and lost a lot of the feel good replay value that their biggest hits and biggest albums had.
As a self confessed and massive fan, I can’t remember giving any of their albums a second listen since WL.
However, “But Here We Are” has me in a choke hold. It’s so different and so much more powerful than what I expected and I’ve been gutted not to hear much buzz about it on here. The singles released so far did good work to leave you unprepared for the emotions this one hits.
It’s their first album in years that felt like it had a purpose and had something to say and it’s a shame what they had to lose to make this happen. It’s cathartic and really resonates with me as someone who has suffered grief back to back like Dave Grohl has.
I’ve had it on repeat all week and I’m just happy to hear that my favourite band still have it 30 something years later.
Would love to hear other people’s thoughts

2023.06.08 20:19 bakedonasunday XL tires on sedan. any thoughts help thanks

i bought a set of Vercelli Strada II. exact same tire size as previous tires. threw them on yesterday. they had no option for picking the load range so i expected they were okay. i watched reviews on these tires being on other model sedans. they ride different from any other tires i’ve had, i’m aware they are thicker and are supposed to carry heavier loads but is this going to lead to problems? got a 16 hour drive in sep. they sound weird and sound if they are very heavy on the ground if this makes sense, and make noise when i turn slow. on the highway you can really hear a vibration type of sound. Alignment came with the installation. any thoughts help thanks.

2023.06.08 20:18 TeamManx Does anybody know if an old school alarm that doesn't turn off unless you shut it off manually exists and where I can buy it.

I want to use old school alarms to notify my mother who uses a wheel chair that she needs to come out to the living room and eat. However, since she gets distracted, or may just take a long time, I need to make sure that the alarm does not stop ringing until she gets to it. Anybody own an alarm or know of one that works the way I described? I don't want to use a phone alarm because she is a technologically illiterate boomer, and, because I know from experience that a smartphone alarm eventually turns off on its own.
I'm sorry if this isn't the kind of sub I should post this in but whichsub is literally dead and askreddit probably isn't for this kind of thing either.

My sweet Gerbils have both passed away. I have so many supplies left and I don’t know what to do with them. I’ve been trying to give it away on next door but haven’t had any luck. I’m considering calling around to pet stores but idk if they would want any of it.
I have some food and bedding, etc. that could go to any small animal owner but I also have some gerbil specific items that I would love to give to another gerbil owner. (Big wheel, tank topper)
Any advice is appreciated.

2023.06.08 20:08 easyMoose Really enjoying the improvements in this latest update

I'm still fairly new to iRacing and I'm only 1 person, but I've really experienced a big improvement in sim quality this update. I think the biggest changes I've noticed are the wheel force feedback and dirt track updates. Combined it makes rallycross quite fun!
Generally it seems like I'm getting better fps than I was previously as well. So I may experiment with increasing the graphics settings.
I'm looking forward to seeing the foliage added to other tracks in the future. And if the dirt track changes are indicative or related to the future rain model in any way, it has made me much more excited for that when it gets released.
Lots of great stuff! Looking forward to the start of the next season. Thanks devs if you see this!
