We have the Los Santos Police Department whose main responsibility is to police the city of Los Santos and protect its lawful citizens. Based out of the Mission Row station, your duties will see you patrol all aspects of the city from the lights and dazzle of Vinewood, the beaches of Vespucci and the mean streets of Southside.
We also have the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office who patrol the North of the state. Although a slower pace of life in the north, it’s certainly not quiet! The deputies of the BCSO patrol the entire county from the sleepy shores of Sandy to the busy industrial industry of Paleto Bay.

Defend the innocent, prosecute the guilty or preside as a judge. At the San Andreas Department of Justice, we are always fully invested in any cases whether criminal or civil. You will be treated with the most respect and will be given a fair chance to win your case.

I posted this as a comment on a previous post but I’d like the discussion to be larger:
In Pennsylvania we have an abundance of white tailed deer due to deforestation and loss of natural predators. Hunters aid in their population regulation on a scale infeasible through other means. Families eat the meat. Hunting deer is barbaric and unnecessary? Ok, let's review other options:

1. Sterilization. We completely halt the millions of dollars in revenue made from selling hunting licenses (used to support conservation efforts) and ask the state for money to fund the sterilization of ~450,000 adult deer that would've been hunted. Then we wait and hope the population evens out over the next 10 years before the environment is damaged by a surplus of about 5 million adult white tailed deer
   
2. Reintroduction of natural predators. Yes, more wolves in the suburbs would be readily welcomed! I'm sure they can differentiate a deer from your kids. Let's get plenty in the city of Pittsburgh, where we have a high number of Lyme disease cases due to the deer population. Introduction of wolves in the city couldn't go wrong.
   
3. Kill them by other means. Again we revoke the millions of dollars in revenue made by the sales of hunting licenses to kill ~450,000 deer a year in some other manner, then use the carcasses that would've been eaten by families for ...?? Not to mention the US department of agriculture already sends in shooters to kill massive amounts of deer each year and donate the meat to food banks
   

Any other suggestions? Maybe you're not against hunting here but just eating the meat. You're right, it would be much more morally conscious to, I don't know, burn it in my front yard or something.

Day 1
Arrived to my hotel at Creole Gardens Guesthouse, which is a fabulous gem of a place in the lower garden district.
It was getting late and I was hungry so I followed their recommendation of eating at Superior Seafood and Oyster. I had a crawfish cake type appetiser and a salad. As an Australian, I found both to be really sweet and also really salty at the same time.
I caught the streetcar along St Charles to get there, and it was lovely, but deciding to walk the same route back wasn’t such a great vibe when it got dark. Ubers at dusk!
Day 2
I couldn’t resist my urge to walk, so after researching the neighbourhoods and so on, I walked over to Bearcat in the CBD. This was the first of many times I crossed under the interstate and it was fine. The homeless folks there are just doing their best and I had no trouble.
At bearcat I was intending just to have a coffee, but the vibe was that just sitting to have a drink isn’t really what they want. The latte in a nice pottery mug was really good, but the keto pancakes were a bit meh, and I didn’t finish them.
Then I trekked along Chatres to the Pharmacy museum, which was fantastic; I spent a good while in there.
I decided to check out Verti Marte for lunch, not realising it doesn’t have any seating. Loved the vibe of the proprieter and hoped to get back another day. His mate pointed me up to the french market so after consulting reddit I tried meals from the heart. I ordered a crab cake and after paying the equivalent of $25 Aussie I received one small crab cake on a shred of lettuce. I guess for the money I hoped it would be more substantial. It was real crab and very fresh, but a bit of a bank breaker when I am getting just 61c to the aussie dollar!
After that I wandered on the treme end of bourbon street, went to the Jazz museum and saw the Louis prima exhibit and then did a Passby the touristy end of bourbon. That was already enough for me.
After a freshen up I looked for dinner and tried Corporation Bar and Grill which is meant to have great authentic new orleans specials. It only serves lunch though so as a non drinker I had a club soda and fed the house doggo cheezits. I was getting pretty hungry though and maybe even hangry after the false starts so I ended up at Gus’s World famous fried chicken and had some chicken and fried pickles. It was very good!
Later on I went to the jam at the Royal Frenchman Hotel. Good sounds and I met a guitarist from local band The Swinging Gypsies, who invited me to sit in with his band the next day. Dream come true. I agreed enthusiastically!
Day 3
I needed some slow vibes so I caught the streetcar up St Charles all the way to Upline in Uptown and then wandered along Magazine St checking out all the shops. I started with La Boulangerie and they make a great iced latte there. Very authentic.
I went to every vintage store on the way back towards the quarter and had brunch at Atchafalaya. I had the crab po’boy there and I think that was where I realised that I just don’t love southern food. It was good, crispy fried crab in the bread, but like everywhere else I found it salty and the bread sweet. It was a lovely spot to sit though and others seemed to be diggin’ their meals.
I walked all the way back to my guesthouse along magazine st, and did some great shopping at places along the way.
I met with Kook Teflon, a local medium and ancestral guide and did a great reading a d workshop with her. I highly recommend her to anyone interested in that sort of work. She’s also an amazing performance artist.
I got dolled up for the gig and headed over to Fritzels to see the Swinging Gypsies. They were bloody amazing, and I was invited to sing three songs with them. I felt like all my Christmases had come at once!
After the gig I did another walk down bourbon. Woah! It’s really intense especially if you don’t drink and are in a chill solo vibe! When I got back to the guesthouse my body was screaming for salad, so I ordered a vietnamese vermicelli salad from Ba Chi Canteen. It was huge and could have fed a family!
Day 4
I did High Priest Robi’s Voodou tour and it was an absolute highlight. Robi is an incredible historian and a real Character. He is not for the faint of heart but he is going to give you an incredible insight into real Voudou and the history of Congo square.
After the tour I decided to try a beignet and had some from Lorettas for brunch. I really did enjoy them they were absolutely delish. I got plain ones and listened to a band at the french market.
I then wandered around again and bought some perfume at Hove, which is also an historical experience.
My body was still screaming for fresh food so for dinner I went to Carmo. Oh my lord it is amazing! I had the Burmese fermented tea leaf salad and creole fish ceviche. Their mocktail was amazing and I was so enamoured of the food I ended with this Armenian ‘Banquette bread’ which was like a flat bread pan fried with banana, cinnamon and harvarti. Absolute winner!
Preservation hall after that and Haruka Kikuchi on the trombone with the allstars was a total winner!
Another walk down bourbon on the way home. It was even crazier as the long weekend approached!
Day 5
I wanted to see some nature and get in touch with the land so I signed up for the nola kayak tours morning trip. It was a great experience and we saw a gator, turtles, snakes and the guide gave us some great info about the manchak swamp region.
I’d hoped to go on a cemetery tour with Sally from Red Sash tours, she is the expert and has written books on the topic, but ai had another tour of treme in the evening planned so thought my dance card was full. Well the dude pulled out last minute which sucked, so I missed out on Sally’s tour as well.
I walked along the river and up magazine st to Surreys where my uber driver had recommended I eat. Nice place and I gave southern food one more try with shrimp And grits. I am sure it was a really good shrimp and grits but I realised it’s just not for me. Creamy savoury porridge with prawns. No!
Later I headed to Frenchman st to see some tunes and who did I spy at Bamboulas but the Swinging Gypsies. I went in for a drink and before I knew it I was singing with the band again!
After that I went to the spotted cat and saw the incredible all female jazz band The Shake it up jazz band, with Haruka Kikuchi on bone again. What a vibe that was!
I was pretty tired after the kayak tour where I had a double kayak alone in a strong headwind so i walked back to my guesthouse via carmo again. It was that good!
I walked about 18,000 steps a day, had many a culinary experience and really felt the magic of New Orleans.
I missed out on Toups, Verti Mart, the sculpture garden and city park, the tree of life uptown, bacchanal, oscar rossignoli at snug harbour, palm and pine, igors laundry and so much more! Next time I hope!

I don’t know which was a bigger pain in my tail. Jack, the shots, or these gnashing seats! There is nowhere for my tail to go and this cheap helicopter keeps bouncing all over the place! Sure, we had to use a civilian model to hide something was up, but could they at least have brought in a fancy one!
Ah well. The view is fantastic though. Gorgeous mountains as far as the eye could see. The valley was full of little towns and cities here and there, but it was mostly forest! One human called it a “park,” but my translator didn’t really have much to say about it. All I knew is that I had rarely seen so much green in my life!
Soon we went towards one of the taller mountains deeper in the wooded areas. Jack said something about being in his family a very long time, about how the park grew around it, and more but I couldn’t give a venlil shit about it yet. I was just busy… looking.
All my missions had been in cities since my small size let me hunt better there. Sure there were some hunts and collections that took place in more sparsely populated areas like this, but I never got to see them. Didn’t help I hatched on a ship and spent pretty much my whole life spacebound.
Soon we settled into a long, but pretty thin grassy area by a house. There was a long road made of loose rocks going down the mountains nearby and at the other end of the grass was a bunch of metal, wood, and more with a large pile of dirt and wood behind them. The house itself was HUGE! At least by my standards. It had two super large bay doors on one side, a wooden covered platform to stand guard, two floors with one huge window, and a orange-red stone pipe on the side pointing up, probably so one could have a fire inside. The sides were clearly made of trees stacked on their sides. A “log cabin” the pilot said.
Well, it's my home now. I wonder who else lives here? Its a barracks big enough for quite a few families.
As we climbed out of the helicopter I kept expecting someone to come out, but nobody did. “Hey Jack! Who else lives here?” I screamed out as the helicopter slowly lifted away. Gnashing thing was as loud as a krakotl! “Just me!” He called back as the helicopter floated away.
“Venlil shit. Who else?” I turned to him and crossed my arms. No way this complex was for one man!
“You now.” He said with a shrug as he walked to the door. He had changed into those blue pants and the small top that humans called a “t-shirt.” His other clothes and gear had been put in his car. “No really! I know its big, but hey, inheritance.” He bared his teeth in that “smile” andmade an odd noise. Laughing? “Welcome home. Besides, not like the gov would want anyone else knowing you are here. The basement is full of junk and guns and shit. Don’t worry about that. Upstairs is just my study and office.”
The first room was rather large. It had a TV, a place for a fire, a large and long chair made of animal skin, and a bunch of devices by the TV. In the next room was a kitchen that was far larger than I was used to. I read that humans prefer to “cook” food, but didn’t expect there to be so many tools to do it with.
“Rooms are down the hall.” He explained as he sat down on the long chair with a grunt. “Ohhh fuck yes. Here. Take a seat.” He patted the skin chair by himself and I sat down on the far side of it.
Oh. OH. Oh betterment this is heaven! The chair is cold, yes, but I thought it was just bloated! It was like sitting on what I thought a bed made of venlil fur felt like! I hissed and let my eyes close as I sunk into its embrace. As I relaxed for… probably the first time in my life really I listened and heard nothing.
No screaming sentients being butchered or eaten.
No tiny brained hunters arguing.
No engine or mechanical noises.
Silence besides some animals and the wind.
I could feel the long chair move a bit as the human clearly wanted to talk to me, but he didn’t. He let me just relax for awhile before getting up and leaving me in this bliss. I could feel my tail curling before I started to feel the cold air tickle my scales. Before I could complain though I heard doors opening and shutting followed by a smell.
FOOD.
My eyes shot open in time to see the human walking in with a bowl of red meat. Fresh. Red. Meat. I paused and looked up at him. This was a whole day’s rations. No! TWO days rations! In one bowl! I didn’t even know what it was from!
“It's just some cuts of venison I was planning on making a stew out of later. Nothing too fancy. OH! That is deer by the way. Non sentient.” He explained before putting the whole bowl in my lap. “It's not cooked or seasoned, but figured you would want something simple to start with.” He explained before sitting back down.
Mine? MINE!
Chunk after chunk of meat met my mouth. My teeth tearing into the soft, cold flesh. It was the best meat I had ever tasted in my LIFE! No taste of the fear, no shame of knowing something that thought suffered for this, and the taste alone! I had no words! I hissed as my tail went nuts. I ate and ate until the bowl was empty.
But by the prophet I was full. No. The prophet, betterment, hunters, it could all ROT for all I care! I closed my eyes again and relaxed. The human could slit my throat right now and I would be okay. My belly was full for the first time in my life. Not only that, but it was full of meat I didn’t feel horrible about. The chair I was in was the best thing I had ever sat on and nobody was screaming near me or looking for a reason to call me defective.
Did one of those shots kill me? This was too good to be life!
He let me lay there for a bit, my tail happily thumping as he started to set up a fire. Soon the room was warm with wonderful smells as well. This. This was almost too much.
Two of what humans called hours passed and I woke back up with a happy hiss. The night was starting to fall and the human was relaxed by me in looser fitting clothing that looked soft. I was covered in a blanket that felt like it was woven out of venlil fur and somehow the chair had tilted back and raised up the bottom to hold my feet and legs up.
He was tapping away on his datapad before looking over at me with a grin. “Hey, how do you feel?” He asked before looking back to his pad. His voice was soft, gentle, and sure even I could pick up on his amusement, but like rot I was going to care.
“Mmmf. Amazing.” My noises were… not intimidating at all, but for some reason he stiffened just a little. Weird, but it is my human. “If all the species in the galaxy knew of life like this I bet humans would have lines volunteer for even slavery.” I chuckled a bit before closing my eyes.
“Hm… probably not the slavery bit, but I do live comfy out here.” He chuckled a bit. “Hey, I am talking to random aliens on this app and a krakotl has the username “Firebird.” She is an exterminator so she just combined her job with what her species is. Gunna tell her about the mythical beast the phoenix.” He was already acting so casually around me. Guess seeing me sleep for so long made him drop his guard.
Not going to ruin this for ANYTHING though. Want more.
Wait. “Wait? You said a Krakotl exterminator? They are willing to talk to you? YOU are willing to talk to THEM after what they did to your kind?” I sat up and the chair returned to its normal setup. My eyes locked on his, there was no way he would be chatting with something like that!
“Yup.” He raised and lowered his shoulders again before tapping the top of his pad. “She didn’t attack us, just some crazy asshole of the same species. She wants to learn more about predators actually.” He explained. “It would be like me blaming you for what happened with the cradle. I read your empathy tests by the way. I know you didn’t like it.” His voice was calm, slow, gentle. Casually explaining to me he was talking with someone who should be both our enemy! Then again, I should be his. But here I am, just waking up from a short sleep on his comfy long-chair after he fed me.
Gnash it. Not going to worry about it.
“So… human… What are your plans for me?” I finally asked. No way he was just going to take me in like this without some sort of hard labor planned for me.
“Well. tonight and tomorrow get you settled in and teach you about human living.” Here it comes. The labor. “Then I will start setting you up with hunting lessons so you can help me hunt while I show you more things humans like.”
That wasn’t labor, that was more relaxing!
“So wait.” I pointed a claw at him as I narrowed my eyes. This was too good. “You just want to relax with me, teach me about human things, and spend time with me?”
His head moved up and down. “Yup. This is an exchange program. Not the prisoner kind either. We are here to learn about each other’s species. That, and make sure you don’t die.” He made that soft laughing noise again.
I sat back in the long chair again and stared at the ceiling. “So you have an Arxur female just in her prime, and you want to just… relax with her? You could do anything you want, make me do anything you want, and you just want to live with her?” I could barely believe it.
“Yup.” He nodded. “We don’t believe in slavery as humans. Fought wars to end it even.” He then went quiet for a few moments as his eyes went wide.
“Wait. FEMALE!?” He yelled out in clear surprise.
He didn’t know I was a girl!?

I live in a major city and work in E-comm & digital marketing. Used to be content with my salary, but being surrounded by wealthy friends & family members got to me. My dad is going on a European trip again and I’ve never stepped foot on that continent. Meanwhile I’m living paycheck to paycheck (rent is ridiculous here), unable to eat out or accumulate any savings. Feeling like a dishonor to my family and rethinking life choices.
Is there any professions/industries that has a high starting salary, low threshold of entry and requires minimal amount of training? I’m thinking of joining a coding bootcamp or doing paralegal stuff.
Would it be wise to leave my current marketing career track? I’ve heard so many good things about this industry but all the mid/senior positions require agency experience. I’ve never done agency and doing that would reduce my income. I’m also at a point where I’m done with marketing in-house.

I’m a white girl called Abi in a rural and traditional village in Hungary. I’m living simple life here with hobbies like cooking and baking and reading but I also love to be outdoors and do camping, boat and raft driving and hiking! I am super social and love the village gatherings as well.

Our village is a couple hundred people long and spread across grasslands and forests around us. It’s secluded, silent, peaceful and calming! However, sometimes as you can guess… lonely. Even though I love the wonderful community here.

When I was in my late teens I worked at a little coffee shop in my city. This was around the time that smart phones hit the scene. I had just got my first phone and laptop recently around this time.
Anyway, we had this one regular customer, who was very eccentric. He made me really uncomfortable if I am being honest. He had strange vibes. It was in the middle of a scorching summer and he always wore many layers and a large park parka with faux fur trim and sunglasses. I never once saw his eyes. He would get our of his car and run for the door in his big coat, shielding himself from the sun. He always ordered almost every item on the menu, but always said it was not for him and he didn't like the food there personally.
One day he came in and ordered the whole menu, as per usual. I was checking him out at the cash register and he leaned in and softly said to me, "You seem like a nice young woman. I need to warn you about something. I'm not supposed to tell anyone, but it honestly bothers my conscious keeping this information to myself."
"What is it?", I asked.
"Do you have a computer or smart phone?" , he asked.

He left and I kinda just shrugged him off as a crazy person, but it still weighed heavy on my mind awhile. I went on to leave that job and got a job as a hostess at a restaurant. A year passed by and I'd pretty much forgot about that whole encounter, until one we would cross paths again.
I was at the front host stand where I greet and seat guests arriving at the restaurant, when a limousine pulls up and a man gets out accompanied by two large body guards at his side. It was the guy from the coffee shop. This time he was wearing a sleek tuxedo and the same sunglasses. He enters the building and says, "You remember me?"
I said I did.
He said, "do you remember what I said?" Again I told him yes. He proceeds to pass the host stand and he examines every inch of the restaurant as if he was looking for something. He then signals his body guards to follow him to the door.
Before exiting the building he says looking back at me, "Don't forget."
He then got back in the limousine and I never saw him again after that.
It was the strangest thing ever, because he knew he'd find me there. But how? How did he find me at my new job? Perhaps he asked someone at my old job....but still. Why go out of your way to make some flashy appearance like this? I was just thinking of this and wondering what ever became of that man and who the hell he was.

Hey guys, me and my wife are from Serbia, and we are coming to Rhodes on the 9th of June, and we planed to stay until the 20th. Now, we already booked a place in the old city until the 14th, but we want to go sowewhere private, with much less crowd, from 14th until the 18th, and then go back to the city, for a hotel stay for 2 days, just to relax a bit. So, i could use your help in finding a nice, private place, with a nice beach, but that we can get to there without a car, since we don’t drive. If someone can drive us, from the owners of the place, and they are her to recommend, that is great. Like i said, we need a nice, quiet place, with a close by beach, under 100e per night. Anything on the east side is great, we don’t want to go to the west side. Both me and my wife are food lovers and historians, so if the place has great food and olive oil nearby with some places to see, that’s a plus of course. :)

So my younger sister is moving to the city for her undergrad next month. I am looking for student hostel or pg recommendations in Vasant Nagar. MCC students here who already stay in hostels or have stayed, if you could suggest or give any tips in finding one it would be really helpful. It's later in the day and my typical depression seems to have settled. I've somewhat caught up on sleep so I'd been determined to enjoy the day. Had a balanced breakfast. Protein, fruit, veg. Went out without my phone and did some reading/writing in a coffee shop, where I forked over $8 for a matcha latte. Mindfulness, am I right? I live in an expensive city---$8 is not abnormal---so it's always kind of a life or death decision to get coffee. At least, it is in my head. But I was determined to have a nice treat of a day. They started closing an hour before their closing time. I got the hint, I've worked in food service before, so I left. Went somewhere else to eat something nice and has unlimited wifi and an ok bathroom. I'm parked here because I won't binge outside the house. Supposedly I'm going to get stuff done. But my mind is kind of jumping around and I want to go home and lie down (and binge in privacy). I'm thinking of food, what to eat, what to spend money on. I stopped counting calories a few days ago and I'm really trying to eat only food that I enjoy, and not try to tally calories in my head. I've reached a weight where if I'd just eaten normally, I wouldn't have reached. I always feel panicked/frantic around food. I think it's part of my depression. Well, I tried to enjoy the day. Later I'll try to go for a walk. I'm afraid to go outside these days but my body's falling apart and in pain all the time--probably from inactivity--and I need to exercise for health.
I think this is as happy as I'll ever get.

Hello!
I am a Canadian attending a conference in Spain in mid June. I had to stopover in Lisbon on the way, so decided to make it a longer stopover to explore the city a bit for the first time. I'll have one evening and one full day (arriving Saturday early afternoon, leaving very early Monday morning).
Never been to Portugal. And ideas and recommendations of must-dos in the city during my first shirt visit here? I'm down for almost anything. I do love wine and good food. Generally I like walking and biking to explore cities so I was thinking of doing one of the biking tours but also don't want to only see the very touristy things.
Will definitely return again in the coming years with my family to explore more of Portugal.
