I would classify myself as a V5 moonboarder on the 2019 set but I want to be stronger.
About me: climbing age 4.5 years, over the last 8 months have done all V3 and V4 benchies, 47 of the 86 V5's, and 4 of the 35 V6's. The V3's and first half of the V4's went easily, then I quickly plateaued and have been limit bouldering to squeak out 0-2 benchmarks per session on average. Have only recently sent a few of the V6's (Flowers for Dayz, No Dream is Just a Dream, Das Moon Hard, Troubadour).
My goal is to consistently send V8 benchmarks, and would like to know from other people on this same journey, what exactly did it take for you to get there? Below are my strength metrics (and some videos) - what weakness(es) do I need to work on to improve my moonboarding?
Personal stats: 5'8", +3 inch ape index, 135 lb
Strength metrics:
-Weighted pullup: BW+80lb x4 reps
-No hangs 20mm edge: half crimp 100lb per arm x5 reps, 3 finger drag 75lb per arm x5 reps
-Less relevant metrics: bench press 145x5, military press 100x5, squat 175x5, deadlift 245x5
-Flexibility is okay, I hope above average as I stretch every day
Don't record much so only videos I have are from a few months ago. I think I'm stronger now as I've since sent these two problems relatively easily, but hopefully the videos will give a general sense of my climbing level:

I suspect finger strength is my main limiting factor but could just be naive. I also think I'm not really good at "trying hard", but am working on that as well.
One big weakness I've recently run into is small crimps, both in terms of edge size, and hold width. Edges I consider thin include I14 and F6. I tend not to be able to move off them. K11 is an example of a "small" hold for me that I have to use with 3 finger half crimp (no room for pinky). Small holds where I can't keep my pinky on tend to be terrible for me. I've also noticed my 3 finger drag is significantly weaker than my half/full crimp. I've started ending my sessions climbing a few V3's only with 3 fingers, and it seems to be helping my open hand.

Approximately three weeks ago, I became aware of peculiar letters being delivered to my doorstep by an unidentified sender. The first letter contained photographs of me inside my own home. Upon closer examination, it became evident that these pictures were taken from outside my windows, as evidenced by the muddy footprints and disturbed dirt surrounding the area. Naturally, I was extremely alarmed and promptly contacted the police. Unfortunately, since there were no prior incidents to provide them with any leads, they dismissed my concerns and labeled me as delusional. Despite setting up surveillance cameras in the following days, I discovered that I was still being photographed, but the culprit remained invisible on the footage. Strangely enough, the perpetrator seemed to be aware of my actions, as the day after repositioning the cameras to capture their presence, I received another letter. This time, the letter not only contained pictures of me sleeping, but also a chilling note.
The note read, "Hello Jason, it will take much more effort to locate me, and trust me, if you knew my identity, you wouldn't want to find me. I possess intimate knowledge about you, Jason. I have been observing you for quite some time now. I am aware of the transgressions you have committed, and I hold the power to destroy you."
Without hesitation, I immediately drove to the local police station and handed over the letter. However, by this point, I had already visited them numerous times, and it was clear that they held a negative opinion of me. They dismissed the note as a prank, suspecting that I was seeking attention since the handwriting on the letter vaguely resembled mine. Additionally, they assured me that the neighbourhood I resided in was perfectly safe, boasting one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Consequently, they concluded that whoever was behind these actions was most likely harmless. With their dismissal in mind, I returned home, attempting to convince myself that this person possessed no real knowledge about me and that it was merely a cruel prank orchestrated by a mischievous child from the neighbourhood. Nevertheless, I couldn't shake off the paranoia, and my eyes constantly darted towards the window in my room, even though the curtains were drawn. Eventually, exhaustion took over, and I fell asleep, but what awaited me the next morning left me utterly horrified.
As was my habit, upon awakening, I proceeded to check the front door for any mail. To my surprise, I discovered a small package addressed to me. Bringing it inside, I eagerly tore it open, only to find a collection of photos spanning the past five years of my life. As I examined the pictures, my initial concern transformed into sheer horror. Among the images were depictions of me in compromising situations, such as being naked or sleeping with my ex-girlfriend, Jane. Accompanying the photographs were printed screenshots of manipulated text messages that incriminated me to a significant extent. Alongside this bundle of distressing materials was another smaller package, tightly wrapped, which included a note and an address.
The note stated, "Deliver this package to the specified address, or else I will expose these photos to your family, friends, and the entire town, revealing what a disgraceful person you truly are."
Trembling with fear, I picked up the smaller package, which felt soft, wet, and rather squishy. Anxiously, I made my way to my car and drove to the designated address. After a two-hour journey, I arrived at a secluded village situated by a river and waited at the indicated location. Approximately twenty minutes passed before I spotted an imposing figure approaching my vehicle. Rolling down the window, I handed the package to the individual, who grunted in acknowledgment before walking away.
Afterward, I began to receive an increasing number of packages, each one larger than the last. Each package required me to drop it off at the same location and hand it over to the same man. This continued for about a week before it abruptly ceased. I anxiously awaited the arrival of the next package, but it never came. A sense of relief washed over me, and I decided to take a day off from work to celebrate this respite. Throughout the day, I mindlessly flipped through various TV channels until one news broadcast caught my attention. The filming location seemed vaguely familiar, but my curiosity quickly turned to horror as I read the headline.
"The body of a twenty-five-year-old woman identified as Jane Austin found dismembered in a river in Rocheport, Missouri."

｢Neon Wound｣ was originally an automatic stand, which could be released aimlessly or instructed to target an individual/category of entity. It would perform the first action done to it upon summoning to the targeted individual(s) or to those it encountered, depending on the setting. While not possessing a personality of its own, it retained its user's chivalrous nature and respectful mannerisms.
After its user's death, during which it was elsewhere summoned and performing its duty, the stand was miraculously preserved. It retains and continues to carry out the designated actions it was executing at the time, those being [Behead via weapon] and [Defend self]. These instructions, both vague and restrictive, have led to its current state and use.
Namely:

• It will attempt to behead anyone it encounters, given it possesses a weapon at the time. It will respectfully unhand its weapon if a neutral party attempts to remove it. If a weapon is taken from it, it will cease aggressive actions, standing completely motionless until granted its tool; it will only seek out a weapon if one not currently possessed by a sentient being is within line of sight. User information/backstory:
There was once a traveler that sought only the growth of others, and would go to great lengths to achieve such results. The wanderer, having shed his true name long ago, was known only by ‘Berc’, and is rumored to have once served in some high court in the past. While no longer a true knight, he was still a chivalrous warrior and desired nothing more than to help others. He had made a great many mistakes and lost his one love to events he may have been able to prevent, and had perhaps been responsible for. Deep in his mind, back then, he had wished death upon himself. Redemption was truly unattainable, and he surely needed to pay for his sins. What good could come of him continuing on?... Yet, he was saved. Not by himself directly, but the actions of a mysterious giant that arrived at his feet one day. It put him through trials he, deep down, wished for. He emerged a better man, and while not perfect, saw the path forwards. He wished for others to be picked up in this same way, and his knight would be the way.
And so it remained. Always present, always watching, always signifying and reminding of the past. It was his ｢Neon Wound｣, serving not to denigrate him in memoriam of past wrongdoing, but as a reminder of his purpose, and the key to a better future. After his experience and revelation, Berc traveled about as a hermit of sorts, assisting others via his stand. His methods were…touch love, to say the least. Many involved intense trials or attacks, forcing them to act and improve themselves, testing them, etc. Though, regardless, it tended to work out for the best, and he left a great many soothed souls in his wake. The jovial man often met his ‘students’ in his endless travels, sharing freshly caught game and joyous stories. He was easily recognizable by his snappy green attire and large beard matched by long hair that only grew longer with age. His laugh was not one to forget, and time spent with Berc was time well spent. Though, there was one trait that had never changed in all his years, and would be the end of him…
He was a fool.
He was trusting, jolly, and held no grudges. Yet, not everyone was grateful to the wandering knight, and there were those who sought vengeance the man was no longer capable of comprehending. One such individual had finally tracked the hermit down. He was once chased down by ｢Neon Wound｣, but let off as one that would not help themselves and therefore could not be helped by others. Berc looked the man up and down, noting the unsheathed blade. His knight was elsewhere, testing a young man and unable to defend its master. Advanced age had left him weak despite his best efforts, and he could see the writing on the wall. He laughed, gave a sorrowful smile, and apologized. He had clearly failed this man, and was deeply sorry for that fact. His final wish was that this alleviated the pain caused to his soon to be murderer at least a bit. Though, it was deeply regrettable that he would not be able to help others from this point on…unlike his gallant stand, he could not live on without his head…
Meanwhile, the young man Berc had sent ｢Neon Wound｣ to give a push to was undergoing great emotional change. The fight had been perilous, forcing him to reconsider his time up until that point. Just moments before, he had been sitting in a ruined home simply waiting to die, but was now attempting to preserve his own life. Why? The sudden looming force of death had done it. It reminded him he had others to truly live for, not merely rot away alongside the out of the way manor where he had failed to protect his loved ones so long ago. They pushed past the pain, accepting the blow it dealt to their neck and tearing the weapon from their attacker’s grasp. ｢Neon Wound｣ halted, assuming a patient position at 'attention'. The former prince had overcome the trial, and gazed upon the blade he had torn from the giant’s grasp. With a bow, he left the stand and returned to a, hopefully fulfilling, life. ｢Neon Wound｣, however, would not be recovered by its user. It would stand resolute and wait for one that would not come, remaining perfectly still in front of the ruined manor for thirty-two years. The forest had long overtaken the area, and the nearby path had since transformed into a road that few strayed far from.
One of those few, a knight surveying the area at the behest of their king, would be the first living person to see the stand since that fateful day with the prince. The knight, Den, approached the decaying manor. The area was good land, and his liege was seeking a new location for an outpost along this road. Drawing his sword to cut down obscuring foliage, he took note of the topography, state of the current dilapidated structures, and a salvageable well. Finally, after circling the area, he stood face to face with the noble statue that had guarded this hopeless home for God knows how long. A thankless job, to be certain. Den cleaned up the statue to the best of his ability, cutting off vines and removing rubble to find its actual structure completely untouched by age. Fascinating.
He would rest afterwards, setting his sword down and removing his stand’s semi-transparent feathers from his eyes in preparation to send back as part of his report. He began unpacking his supplies to pen the accompanying letter as a glint of movement shone in the edge of his vision. Den felt an overwhelming presence-a powerful force unlike any he’d encountered before. He innately, instinctually understood the danger he was in before snapping his gaze towards the statue. It was moving before his very eyes, and was moments away from grabbing his sword, which rested against the same log he sat upon. He rushed to kick the sword away as his stand, ｢DESTINY｣, screeched to life and recreated the ferns that once enclosed the statue’s knees to bind it in place for the time being. Den dove for his sword, managing to recover it mere seconds after the statue tore through the metal foliage.
It stopped.
The statue wound down, and had returned to its stoic pose. This…was a discovery of great importance. Their kingdom was a special one, founded by a mighty warrior given power through a Holy blade. The sword itself was currently kept within the deepest bowels of their fortified capital, only to be used in special rituals such as coronations and granting knighthood. Its power to bless those worthy with miraculous abilities was the bedrock of their nation’s success. The fact the area he now stood in, suggested after consultation by a high priest with a similar blessing to his own, housed an artifact comparable to the founder’s sacred blade was beyond telling. This could not more clearly be fated by God, who had led this humble knight to a guardian. Den’s prodding and investigation revealed the giant could be led by the hand, confirming his theory. He dropped to his knees and hurriedly scribbled his report, sealed with ｢DESTINY｣’s feathers and sent back via his messenger bird. The King needed to know of this at once.
Den began the slow journey home behind his letter, leading the giant. An incident late one night only magnified their awe and appreciation, as it defended him in his sleep, slaughtering a rabid wolf that had apparently lunged at him. The various events like this that transpired over the course of the walk home would be relayed as well, securing the statue’s place in their kingdom’s legacy. The guardian sent by God would reside in the throne room, and would be tasked with performing rituals with the nation’s sacred blade from this point onwards. Its actions, as the knighthood had learned through trial and error, were perfectly suited to the duties. It would stand tall in the throne room as its loyal guardian, and act as the liaison to determine which princes were chosen to lead the kingdom for well over a century. It served its purpose until the tragic end of the nation…

I-No's origin lies sometime during the hundred-year Crusades that brought humanity to the brink of extinction. During the war, the peoples' desire for a brighter tomorrow was focused on the Backyard (an alternate dimension comprised entirely of living information) and was so strong that it resulted in a single Magical Foci. Thus, the whole of creation was focused into a single organism. The Backyard interpreted this as an error that would destroy the world, and sealed that conscious away in a single human girl's body, placing within it all the irregularities. However, this was the Backyard's first mistake, as the resulting entity was all-powerful.
At some point The Original (later known as Happy Chaos) discovered the girl and realized that the world was being torn from its origin, and that, burdened with mankind's desires, she was on the verge of ascending to godhood. He reluctantly took away her human desire and with it half of her power, robbing her of her future to preserve that of humanity, leaving her with only her name.
The result was I-No, although she was completely unaware of her own nature. There are no other details regarding her past, but I-No—without knowing why, but fixated on changing the dull future that awaited humanity—took it upon herself to change their bleak future no matter what. At one point, I-No goes back in time to the Crusades and gets Ky killed, making humanity extinct; in another, she takes Sol back in time and makes him fight himself, trying to make him stop existing. Yet, no matter how many times she repeated history, the future always converged on a single point.

Jack-O' explained to I-No that Happy Chaos could make I-No whole again, but unbeknownst to her, That Man never actually finished Happy Chaos. All the same, the Original heard this name and liked it so much that he decided to take it as his own. Now Happy Chaos, he was absorbed into Ariels and found by I-No after Ariels' defeat and imprisonment at the hands of Sol Badguy and the kingdom of Illyria.
After the siege of the G4 summit in Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, Happy Chaos got ahold of the Tome of Origin, which would give him the knowledge necessary to fuse with I-No. The result was returning to I-No her other half, and granting her the godlike power that she had been denied upon her conception.

Hi,
I currently have Debian on a 500GB SSD and have two 1 TB hard drives I plan to run in raid 1. Just have a few questions.
I just have a few questions as I'm quite new to this. Would love some guidance.
First of all should I go with btrfs or zhs for the raid 1. Secondly any steps on setting it up in raid 1.
Now to my main question which is the following.
I'd like to backup my /home partition from 1 laptop and 1 PC automatically at least once a day to the server. How would I go about doing this? Any recommendations for software, partition type etc.
Next I'd like to also setup a virtual mount point with my common files to be accessed from Windows and Linux. Such as books and other files I will be accessing. How would I set this up. How do I prevent the autobackup from backing this mount point up.
Also anything for photo backups from Android
Lastly I'd like to setup an auto torrenting and streaming setup. As seamless as possible. If there's anything for this?

"Ha ha ha ha, did I just raise some more questions? Two? Four? More? Exponentially more? Ha ha ha ha, oh, I'm sorry. To be frank, I'm a bit nervous. After all, even if I go all out, I may not be able to break you. That word, 'break'...being unable to break you, you are 'unbreakable'...that strikes me as arrogant. All things have a beginning and an end. But 'unbreakable' suggests an object has flouted those laws; discarded its natural limitations. Culture, civilization, everything humankind has created...even the idea of God. Destroy the laws, destroy the things the laws allow. Doesn't that seem unfair? Like how thinking too hard about something makes it MORE difficult? Instead of giving hope you take it away. We might as well discard 'morals' entirely! Anyway, I detest long conversations."

I love this game. It took me a long time to beat it though. The first time I did beat it though I was playing on Hardcore mode because I was feeling frisky when I started the save. I was delighted when I pulled it off. I thought I would be done with the game at that point. I was wrong, because I started a new hardcore run that very night.
I ended up getting even more into that save than the last successful run. My bases were sleeker, more efficient, yet also homier, more lived-in. I finally realized you can build a base in the Bulb Zone if you just go there with the Prawn suit even if you haven't got any of the fancy arms because once again it's taking you fucking forever to find the vehicle upgrade console but I'm not mad really because I am discovering gameplay like whoa as a result. The ability to tank some scary bites while also punching off your attackers is great, and when I learned how to properly jump, like really jump in this bad boy I was discovering amazing new modes of traversal that I barely touched on my last run. I used the prawn suit a lot in my successful run and I was still sleeping on it for the most part.
I built my first alien containment in the Bulb Zone. I was going to surround it in glass to remind the creatures around me that I can put them in a cage if I will it. I got stuck in a tree and rescued by a reaper. I even set up a Reginald farm at my home base so I'd never want for food or fuel again (though between the solar panels and the marble melons I rarely had to resort to that even with my fancy ass water filter). I was on top of this world. I was making Planet 43216-whatever my bitch!
I got cocky.
It was when I was stubbornly trying to get a hatch on my new heat-powered outpost near the big floaty blue balls zone and underestimating just how much damage a warper could do if it got in a particularly good slice. So when very suddenly my health was in the flashing red zone I remembered the cat poster and did not panic. I switched over to my seaglide, made a beeline for the prawn suit, where in a matter of seconds I would be popping my first aid kit and ready to punch that fucker.
He immediately warped me out of the suit and the damage from that killed me.

4 weeks away from my due date and things just seem to be getting worse. We have only started couples therapy and the last 3 sessions have been getting to know us and our family of origin…I’ve been holding onto hope that a therapist will help us learn how to communicate better and fix our problems but I feel like I should give up. I’ve been begging for years for therapy and he’s fought the idea until only recently.
I suffer from adhd, anxiety, and severe depression and the last few years I’ve been a daily weed smoker. The last 9 months I’ve been sober and realizing that I haven’t been working on myself like I thought I was/should’ve. I blame myself for a lot of my husbands unhappiness and now I’m scared it’s too little too late.
My husband isn’t happy and is lonely and I know he isn’t in love with me anymore. He says he loves me as a person and will be there for my and the baby but I can tell he doesn’t see nor wants to see a future together…he’s been talking a lot about divorce or just staying together for the year since we just renewed our lease and learning how to be parents together but he doesn’t see a future with me. He says we can still be best friends and be divorced but I don’t see how that’s possible especially when we haven’t felt like best friends the last 6 months.
He said he’s only now realized this since I’ve been pregnant. He claims he’s been miserable for the last 9 years and never knew why…. We both were in a good place or so I thought which is why we decided to start a family and got pregnant our first attempt…
We’ve fought a lot even before we got married but I know we both were struggling to figure things out and we both haven’t been working on things like we should. He’s spent this whole pregnancy still smoking weed or nicotine. He says he just realizes we are just two different people and he can’t force me to be something I’m not. He wants someone who is attractive knows how to dress well and has a better body, is more adventurous and takes risks does the occasional drug at events here and there, and can have more than just surface level conversations.
This whole pregnancy has been very lonely and joyless for me. The only time I’ve felt joy is from some friends being excited and my students. My husband doesn’t touch my belly, doesn’t talk to the baby, it’s not at all how I pictured my first pregnancy to be. He broke me at the beginning of the year by having feelings for another woman who thankfully had dignity and stopped talking to him because she knew me and knew we are expecting our first child.
My depression is at an all time high and I’m terrified once baby is here the postpartum will hit hard because of how fragile my mental health is. Knowing he doesn’t want this marriage to work hurts.
I broke down today and started drawing boundaries. I can’t for my mental health stay in this apartment learning how to be parents with someone who doesn’t see our relationship working. I know the stress of being new parents will only most likely exacerbate our issues and that’s not healthy or fair to the baby. After I told him my boundaries and plan he backed off and said “just because my mind is made up doesn’t mean I don’t want to try to work on this.” I took that message as him saying he doesn’t want to divorce just yet he’s willing to work on things. I guess that wasn’t the message he was trying to give me and I feel like all I am getting is mixed signals…we’re off on minute on one minute off again.
Am I a fool for holding onto this hope that therapy will make it better? Idk what to do at this point I’m so tired of hurting and crying. One of my friends who is a family therapist firmly believes he’s acting this was as a mid life crisis because of how much life will change.
I feel like my whole life is falling apart and it hurts hell. I’m trying so hard to be calm and strong for my baby but it’s so hard. Looking at our home and nursery just brings pain. I’m too pregnant to go anywhere else and all I want to do is run away.
Is it wrong of me to know I’m not mentally strong enough to live with him for a year just for the sake of learning how to be parents together knowing this marriage is probably over. Is it wrong of me for saying I can’t be under the same roof as him knowing that he’s talking to other people? He keeps telling me “don’t you think someone is out there for you who will treat you right and love all of you?” “I’m sorry you’re not getting your happy ending.”
While I know there might be someone else out there I don’t want to even think about that right now. If this doesn’t work out It’ll take me years before I even want to risk opening up to someone again, once my baby is here they will be my primary focus and I just don’t see myself looking for someone to talk to. We’re supposed to have another therapy session this week and I just don’t know if it’s worth it anymore. I just want the pain to stop.

Dual casting in Skyrim is completely fucked.
If you’ve played an Illusion character, you’ve probably run into the infamous “Dual Cast Bug,” where spells that should work when dual cast simply fail. For example, if you dual cast a level 5 Calm spell against a level 9 Bandit, it should work–unless you have the Dual Cast Bug, in which case it won’t. This happens in all modded setups, and it happens a lot, but it’s most noticeable in Simonrim because I balance heavily around dual casting.
The biggest problem with troubleshooting the Dual Cast Bug is tracking it down. At first, we were able to identify a few big mods that caused it. Strange Runes causes it, Footprints causes it, Survival Mode and Survival Mode Improved cause it… As the list of mods that caused it got bigger and bigger, it got harder and harder to believe that individual mods were at fault. Then, I released Blade & Blunt 3.0, which was super, super, super awesome… and also caused the Dual Cast Bug in an extremely reproducible way.
The good news is that, with a way to finally reproduce the Dual Cast Bug reliably, 100% of the time, we were able to track down the source of the bug. Basically, any time that Cast(), RemoteCast(), or AddSpell() fire while you're holding a dual cast spell, when you fire the spell, the game will treat it as if it were single cast. If you’re a modder, you probably just had to do a double take and read that sentence again, but yes, it’s really that bad. The worst part is that it’s basically impossible to make gameplay mods without using Cast(), RemoteCast(), or AddSpell().
At its heart, the Dual Cast Bug is very simple. When you dual cast a spell, the "IsDualCasting" flag is set to true. However, whenever a spell finishes casting, that spell sets the "IsDualCasting" flag to false. This means that if you are currently dual casting a spell, and then another spell is cast (or another ability is added) to your character while you are casting, the game will no longer recognize that you are dual casting. So, for instance, Blade & Blunt 3’s DLL adds a spell to the player when they move while sneaking, in order to drain their Stamina. If you sneak, charge up a dual cast Illusion spell, and then begin to move, the Stamina drain spell will tell the game you are not dual casting anymore, and so the spell will act like a single cast spell when you release it.
This bug basically makes dual casting unusable in some modded setups, and it’s pretty insane that it hasn’t been more widely known until now. The worst part, in my opinion, is that the mods that are “causing” the dual cast bug aren’t doing anything wrong. Fortunately, po3 is a goddamn wizard and just fixed it. You can find the fix here, and it’s compatible with all game versions except for VR (VR support is going to be handled soon).
This fix should be included in all Skyrim load orders and mod lists as the issue is extremely common and will often cause problems in the background without you even knowing.

The year was 1901, and Byron McGrady was a wanted man. Byron had been on the run for the past eight years, since he was 12. He had accidentally killed a man in a fight after being caught stealing from a shop in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. Byron has made his name as a bank robber all across Texas, and his crimes had put a target on his head. Every lawman in the west, not just Texas, wanted to see him hang. Byron knew this. Byron left the gang, as he didn’t want to bring them down with him if the law caught up with him. They were the only family he had ever known. Besides, it was 1901, and the days of the old west were numbered, and Byron knew that the gang would disband sooner or later, And so, from that point on, he was a lone wolf. A lone wolf on the run from the law. Byron rode his horse all the way to Portland Oregon, where he decided to hide from the law. He changed his last name from McGrady to Macaulay, and took a job as a lumberjack. Byron stayed hidden from the law for fifteen years. Background

I (M39) caught the running bug relatively late in life—in my early thirties. I was never an athlete, and actively disliked sports when in school. I regularly went to the gym in my 20s and early 30s, but my cardiovascular fitness was generally mediocre.
I first started running in 2014, but wasn't very consistent until 2020. That's when I put in about 3 km every day, running behind my preschooler as she learned how to ride a bike. I ran longer distances every weekend, gradually ramping up to 10 km.
In 2021, I ran my first competitive 10K (also at the Calgary Marathon). I did no training to speak of, and while I completed the race, I got severe shin splints from it. They would recur every time I ran long distances, so any running between then and now was intermittent.

Training

Come 2023, I decided to give it another shot. I signed up for one of Garmin's 10K training programs (with coach Greg McMillan) in February, and set an aggressive target for myself—10 km in 55 minutes. This was uncharted territory for me, as I had never maintained a consistent 5:30 pace before. My fastest 10K stood at 1:01:20, and my quickest 5K was 28:30 or so.
The hardest part was simply sticking to the schedule. Juggling the responsibilities of being a parent, having a demanding job, and a bustling family life made finding time for running a constant challenge. That inevitably translated to running either at the crack of dawn, or late in the evening (in Calgary weather … brr!). Training generally went without a hitch—I maintained a steady tempo of 25-30 km per week.
I learned some valuable lessons in these 15 weeks. The first was listening to my body. The fear of recurring shin splints haunted me, so I took two week-long breaks when I sensed overtraining. These breaks allowed me to bounce back from fatigue, stay motivated, and prevent injuries.
Another revelation came in the form of easy running. "What? I don't have to go flat-out, chasing personal bests every time I step out to run? Coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool." Easy running was fun, stress free, and almost meditative!
I also paid careful attention to my nutrition, making conscious choices to cut back on greasy foods and snacks. Hydration became a top priority. I made sure to drink at least 72 oz of water daily and fueled up with electrolytes before and after my runs.
Lastly, I honed my running form, using YouTube videos and this sub for guidance. I zeroed in on my running cadence—a sluggish 150-155 spm—as a key area for improvement. I increased it to 175-180 spm over a span of two weeks, and the results were immediate. My runs felt smoother, my legs were less sore after intense runs, and I could maintain my energy for longer. The increase in my daily step count was an unexpected bonus!

Pre-race

As the big day approached, I felt confident and ready. I adhered to my tried-and-true pre-race meal of steamed rice, mashed potatoes, and two boiled egg whites. The excitement kept me from getting a good night's sleep, but I knew the jitters were part of the package. Three hours before the race, I had a light breakfast—a peanut butter and honey sandwich and a cup of tea.
Then, for the next couple of hours, I immersed myself in quiet solitude, mentally preparing for the epic challenge that lay ahe … … naah, I was a bundle of nerves, buzzing around my home, incessantly reminding everyone to hurryuporweweregoingtomisstheraceZOMG!

Race

The weather was about 15°C and sunny; a tad on the warmer side. I planned to maintain a pace between 5:20 and 5:24 so that I'd meet my goal with about a minute and a half of cushion.
The race started on the dot at 7:30 am. The crowded field prevented me from sprinting too quickly. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise: I have a bad habit of taking off like a jackrabbit, only to fizzle out prematurely. Still, even at a controlled pace, my first three kilometers flew by at 5:10, 4:59, and 5:09. Surprisingly, I didn’t like I was pushing myself to the limit.
The course went gradually (very gradually) uphill for the next four kilometres, but my run in this patch was smooth: I maintained my target pace and felt things were going well. Somewhere along the way, I passed the 0:55:00 pacer.
Weariness started creeping in during the seventh kilometre. My mouth felt parched, my cadence fell below 165 or so (a telltale sign of fatigue) and my upper back grew stiff. I took a Gu, but it only made my mouth drier. My pace was still on target, but I knew this wasn't going to last. I allowed myself a slight slowdown in the eight kilometre (clocked 5:33) and again on the ninth. This lap was the slowest at 5:47 (or 3.6 roentgen: not great, not terrible). As I crossed the 9 km marker, the timer on my watch registered 48 minutes and change. Meaning I had a good seven minutes to make the final kilometre.
That knowledge just motivated me to pick up the pace. One forceful, final push—although torture—would be the cherry atop what had been a strong performance thus far. As I crossed the finish line, a feeling of exhilaration consumed me: I knew I had crushed my goal!

Post-race

Outside the finish zone, I reunited with my family; who had been my unwavering support throughout this journey, and were proud to see me finish.
My daughter tackled the 1.2 km kids race soon after. Then my incredible wife took on her very first 5K, braving the scorching noon heat to set a personal best time. I can't express how proud I am of both for taking up a challenge and sticking with it to the end.
I wanted to finish the race without sustaining any lasting injuries, and I think I succeeded. My legs were burning, and my calves are still sore. I have a slight, sharp pain above one ankle, but I hope it fades away soon.

Looking back on this journey, I'm glad that I challenged myself with an ambitious goal, and went on to exceed it. Still, what stands out to me is my commitment to the training plan. Consistently investing effort, time, and energy has resulted in tangible benefits. My stamina has improved, my VO2 max is up by two points, my resting heart rate has fallen significantly, and I feel fitter overall.
I'm now ready to tackle the next obvious challenge: conquering a half marathon. And who knows, perhaps a full marathon awaits me in the not-so-distant future.

Not my story, but I was a witness. This happened about five years ago and I'd completely forgotten about it until I went back to the scene a week or so ago.
I live in a city in the UK that's in no shortage of entitled people. I have my own stories, including one or two I've posted before, but this one was on another level. Close to the high street and the malls is a shop that SPECIFICALLY sells acoustic musical instruments—mostly guitars, drums, and a lot of folk instruments like lutes and mandolins. They also sell really niche, hard-to-find instruments including second hand ones, and depending on what they have in stock these instruments can be really niche.
About five years ago during the summer, I had some time to kill in town before I met a friend down the road so I went into this shop just to browse. I have zero musical ability but I'd always wanted to check this place out. In the back of the shop I saw an instrument that I now know to be a Chinese guzheng, a flat-laying string instrument with about 20+ strings. This one in particular was over five feet long, and even though it had some metal parts and some pearly-looking decorative insets, the bulk of the body was a polished dark wood. It was BEAUTIFUL to look at, and even though the shop has a policy where people can play any of the instruments as long as they're careful, I couldn't bring myself to touch it—especially when I saw it was priced at over £500, even marked second hand. Of course there were other fascinating instruments and other things in the shop, but the guzheng is the star of this particular story.
After about ten minutes browsing the shop, listening to people picking up instruments and jamming with the super chill owner (CO), I get ready to leave. But before I do, in comes EM and her little hellspawn, EK, who looks to be about 6 years old. EK immediately starts running around the shop poking at various display instruments while EM just hangs out by the door on her phone. Obviously EK was the one that wanted to be here, and EM couldn't give two shits. CO immediately stiffens and watches the kid as he runs around this really densely packed shop, trying to grab anything he can reach, giggling and shrieking with unchecked energy. EM still stays within a few meters of the door, on her phone.
Now remember when I said the guzheng is a flat-laying instrument? It's usually played on a table or a mount, and this one was rested on two sets of legs that held it pretty low to the floor—at 6-year-old height. EK sees it and barges over, starting to pick at the strings wildly. It's… awful to listen to. And even though he's been patient so far, this is where CO steps in.
CO: Miss, your son is--
EM: He's just playing. Just leave him alone. He'll get bored in a minute.
CO: But that instrument is really expensive. We have some children's guitars over there that he might like to--
EK: Mummy! I want the big guitar!
EM: No, EK, you don't even know how to play it. Now come on or we'll be late.
EK: But Mummyyyyy! I waaaaaaant iiiiiiit!
This is where it all goes south. EK grabs the guzheng and tries to take it off the legs. But this thing is taller than some full-grown adults, and it is a CHONKY beast. I guess this kid had enough freaky 6-year-old strength to lift it off one of the two legs before he let go of it completely. The guzheng crashes onto the floor, and the sound it makes is AWFUL. It's completely split down the middle of its length and at least one of the strings has split. It was probably quite old so it might have been more fragile than it should've been, but even so it's trashed, completely ruined. EK just starts freaking out. He's screaming, crying, and he runs straight back to EM.
CO: Oh, God! Are you okay? EM, is he okay?
EM: Of course he's not okay! That piece of rubbish could've crushed his feet!
(His feet were fine. He literally just sprinted across the shop back to EM, clearly in no pain at all.)
EK: I wanna go home, Mummy! Take me hooome!
EM: Come on, EK. If he's hurt himself in any way, I'll sue you for everything you've got.
CO: Hang on! That guzheng is completely wrecked!
EM: So what? It's just a weird guitar. If it was worth that much you should've had it insured.
CO: It's not a guitar. It's a Chinese guzheng and it was second hand! It was still worth over £500!
EM: Five hundred pounds for a chunk of wood?! You're joking! It sounded awful! If you think I'm paying for some used, overpriced Chinese rubbish you've got another thing coming.
It's at this point that I notice one CO's employees, CE, has come down from upstairs to see what's going on. Fun fact: the city I live in houses students from five different universities including two within a mile of each other, and these universities take in a lot of international students that are allowed to take part-time work in the city. CE is clearly student age just by looking at him. He also happened to be East Asian—and just going by statistics of the city here, most likely Chinese. EM also seems to notice CE standing there. She immediately pulls her phone out and points at CE with her other hand. She's going red in the face, moving herself closer to the door and pushing EK outside while she confronts the CO and CE.
EM: Was that thing yours, huh? You bring it with you from China? Fuck you, and fuck you if you think I owe you anything. My son's feet are probably broken and if I hear anything about this or see either of you again, I'll sue you (CO) for negligence and have you (CE) shipped right back where you came from. I've got you both on camera! I know who you are!
With that, she charges out the door, grabs EK by the wrist and bolts down the street. CO and CE just look absolutely shattered. The other people in the shop, including me, offer to help clean up, ask if they're okay. After a few minutes, I had to leave them to it as I was already late to meet my friend. In the end I never followed up on the situation, but five years later CO is still running the shop so clearly nothing happened to them. I took my now-partner in there a couple weeks ago, and they had not one but TWO absolutely beautiful guzhengs for sale.

I currently have Debian on a 500GB SSD and have two 1 TB hard drives I plan to run in raid 1. Just have a few questions.
I just have a few questions as I'm quite new to this. Would love some guidance.
First of all should I go with btrfs or zhs for the raid 1. Secondly any steps on setting it up in raid 1.
Now to my main question which is the following.
I'd like to backup my /home partition from 1 laptop and 1 PC automatically at least once a day to the server. How would I go about doing this? Any recommendations for software, partition type etc.
Next I'd like to also setup a virtual mount point with my common files to be accessed from Windows and Linux. Such as books and other files I will be accessing. How would I set this up. How do I prevent the autobackup from backing this mount point up.
Lastly I'd like to setup an auto torrenting and streaming setup. As seamless as possible. If there's anything for this?

In Windows 11 under Device Security settings page I cannot see the following turned on:
- Core Security - Security Processor - Memory Integrity - Secure Boot - DEP - UEFI MAT - SMM
Okay what I do to enable all the device security settings above or please let me know which of these settings my PC does not support?
My Priorities is Security over Gaming Performance as I am retro gamer and do not play the latest new pc game releases however if there's other UEFI settings that do not affect security and gaming performance then please let me know what other settings are to enable to get the most out of this PC power efficiently.
Lastly is it safe to update the UEFI Bios from a USB port located at the front of the PC not at the back?
Finally in future if I want to overclock my hardware then what I do to keep it stable without requiring additional cooling added in the PC?
What it is I want a Balance between Security, Gaming Performance and Electricity Power Efficiency without compromising sacrificing too much on any of these 3.
