2023 Event Campaign – Part III:
Flagship Celebration Event:
The next step of our 2023 Event Campaign is coming to PC, with an event dedicated to the flagships of Star Trek Online.
This Event will include multiple TFOs previously featured individually in a combined Featured Event that will allow players to choose their preferred activity each day.
All of these TFOs can be accessed via the Event UI, accessible within your Mission Journal by pressing on the “Events” Tab:

Synth Wave (Space)
Participating in this Event will give all players the opportunity to win a Prime Beverly Crusher Holographic Bridge Officer, and an upgrade to your Fleet Support.
Rewards:
Players will be able to earn their Daily Progress once every 20 hours. Accruing a total of 14 days worth of Daily Progress will allow you to claim all of these rewards:

Holographic Bridge Officer of Dr. Beverly Crusher
The Fleet Flagship Distress Frequency Device and 25,000 Unrefined Dilithium Ore (both once only).
3x Featured TFO Reward Boxes (once only).

Each gives a choice of 1x Specialization Point or an Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrade.
Bonus Rewards:
After claiming the Grand Prize, you will unlock the option of earning additional Dilithium Ore each day, beginning at 8,000 Dilithium Ore for the first day’s completion, and increasing for subsequent days.
For example and clarification regarding the Bonus Rewards and how it works:
After completing the Event for the first time you get 25,000 Unrefined Dilithium Ore once then you can replay one more time on the same day and get 8,000 Dilithium Ore for a total of 33,000 Dilithium Ore.
The next day you can get 9,000 Dilithium Ore for playing the Event, even if you already fill the bar and got all of the Rewards related to the Event.

This event will run from Thursday, June 8th at 8am PT to June 12th at 12pm PT on PC, and features several bonuses throughout STO that will give Captains of all levels a leg up advancing their rank in the Research and Development school(s) of their choice.

Canonized during Star Trek Picard’s Season 3, the Enterprise NCC-1701-F began its journey into the final frontier over a decade ago, as Cryptic Studios’ own manifestation of the Enterprise Legacy.
Derived from Adam Ihle’s winning submission to Cryptic’s “Design the Next Enterprise” competition, the Enterprise-F would see a long iteration and development process under the guidance of then STO Art Lead Jeremy Mattson and STO Starship Artist Adam Williams. Williams’ work on the Enterprise F would prove a turning point in the design philosophy of Star Trek Online’s starships, embracing a sleek and organic future extrapolated from classic Star Trek ships like the USS Enterprise-E and the USS Voyager.
In 2022, Star Trek: Picard Production Designer Dave Blass reached out to the Star Trek Online team about adding the Enterprise F to the show. While it needed a lot of work, we jumped at the opportunity to finally canonize our flagship on an actual Star Trek television show.
And so, the Odyssey-class Enterprise F was totally rebuilt to the highest detail level of any Star Trek Online starship. It received a brand new material and a bespoke set of window visuals as well. The model was done just in time for use in Picard, and now, over a year after work began on it, we are very pleased to announce that this remastered version of the Odyssey-class Star Cruiser will soon be available in Star Trek Online. This remaster will go live with the upcoming Flagship Celebration event.
To see the updated visuals, ready any of your Odyssey variants and visit the ship customization interface. Then, apply the “Odyssey” preset to update your ship to the new pieces.

!Temporal Agent Recruitment Event!
The Timeline needs you!
The special Temporal Agent Recruitment event is coming back!
From June 8th at 8am PT to June 29th at 12pm PT on PC, you can create a new Temporal Agent character. Just make a new TOS Starfleet character, complete your tutorial, and pick up your special Temporal Agent assignments!
Celebrate the anniversary of the original series premier with a new original series Starfleet officer.
Temporal Agents are on the front lines of the Temporal Cold War, and as they complete missions they’ll unlock bonus rewards, including special account-wide rewards.
Make your way through the ranks, advance your Starfleet career, and you’ll gain bonuses that will improve your equipment and give you special traits.
We’ve updated the Temporal Agent goals to include some new ones, and removed goals from missions that are no longer in the game, so you don’t have to worry about finding Temporal Probes in places that you can no longer reach.
You’ll be able to earn bonuses for reaching level 60, marks for all of the reputations that have been added to the game, and rewards for engaging in R&D and specializations.
Existing Temporal Agents will be able to complete these new goals as well, and if you’ve already finished them, you can claim the rewards immediately.
Remember, to become a Temporal Agent and gain access to the rewards, you must make a new TOS Starfleet character, during the event, then you must play the tutorial until you receive your special Temporal Agent transceiver device. Once you receive the device, your character is a Temporal Agent and you can complete the goals any time and claim the rewards, even after the event ends.

This piece recounts the first time I drank an ancient plant medicine called Ayahuasca. It comes from Amazonian tribes who consider it a sacred plant medicine with healing powers and, given what a hugely beneficial impact it has had on my life, I am very comfortable describing it as medicine.
One Saturday, in the spring of 2016 I was greeted by the medicine man himself with a big hug, let’s call him Blu. I came into his kitchen to be greeted by several women with slightly comical homemade, feather headdresses and couldn’t help but think I’d walked into a kid’s birthday party. In the garden, there was a small festival tent set up which had a hay bale altar with easter decorations.
The ceremony had around 30 other participants and 10 shamans. In the middle of the tent stood the medicine man’s wife, Sun who was very much the master of the ceremony. She had the most daring headdress, flowing orange robes and a rattle in her hand. She spoke to us with warm, friendly humour telling us that we would know the medicine had kicked in once her singing started to sound good!
She advised that each experience is unique and we should try not to have huge expectations, sometimes nothing at all happens the first time. Having waited five years for this day I was quietly confident that this would not be the case for me and boy was I right!
We went around the circle introducing ourselves and explained what we were hoping to get out of the ceremony. Focusing on your intent during a psychedelic experience is meant to help you get what you are looking for.
During my turn, I expressed my desire to regain my self-confidence and passion for the opportunities and women in my life to whom I never seem to be able to fully commit.
Once we had all shared, we learned that it was time to drink.
My heart was filled with profound forbearing and excitement as I went up to receive a small glass of harsh-tasting, brown liquid which certainly tasted like medicine!
I had a basic camping mattress and a duvet laid out for me which I snuggled into before pulling on my eye mask. I was on my back trying not to think too much about the medicine, whether it was working or maybe wouldn’t work while I meditated for an hour.
The shamans started singing and shaking rattles. One of the female shamans, Nubia had an incredibly beautiful soprano voice that stood out from the others. It was while listening to the song of the shamans that I started to feel a warm flow of energy along my limbs. I tried to dismiss it at first, thinking it might somehow be related to my fasting for 40 hours prior.
When I moved my eye mask to let some light into my eyes I saw the tent roof overlaid with a flowing grid of beautiful, metallic, geometric grids with multi-coloured light flowing through the lines. The Individual elements of the grid reflected every colour of the rainbow like oil on water’s surface and I started to feel joyful, like a child rolling through leaves on a warm autumn day.
Nubia started singing to us again and it was like nothing I’d ever heard. It was so beautiful and mesmerizing I didn’t want her to stop.
I could hear the people around me, some giggling and some vomiting or, purging medicine into their buckets. I checked myself, asking if should I purge but I felt a gentle presence speak inside of me saying: ‘No, you’re fine. Just relax.’

They call this presence Mother Ayahuasca. The reason people drink the brew is to speak with and receive her guidance.

My eye mask was back on my face and I turned into the fetal position with the duvet pulled over my head I felt exceptionally comfy with this strange yet familiar presence as I started to explore the un-intimidating hallucinogenic world within my mind. She showed me complex pictures of flowing energy with multicoloured lights in perfect alignment while I was gently gliding along, watching the beautiful colourful spectacle.
It was around this time that Sun asked into the ceremony if anybody would like a second dose. I slowly sat upright and looked around. I checked myself. Truthfully, I was enjoying the experience. I was slightly nervous that having more could take me to a deeper, darker place however I had mentally prepared myself for the full immersion experience.
The presence told me: ‘It’s okay. You can handle it. I’ll be gentle.’
So I pulled on my shoes, got up and slowly walked over feeling slightly wobbly. I was worried Sun might tell me I’d had enough but when I sat in front of her, she gave me a big smile and beckoned me towards her. The second dose was about half the previous one and tasted familiar, not quite as harsh.
After I got up I walked out of the tent into the house. Sitting in the small toilet I saw the walls gently rippling with energy and recognized the phenomenon from previous psychedelic experiences. I’ve experienced mild, LSD-induced hallucinations before but nothing quite as mesmerizing as watching bright sparks of colorful energy emerging from objects and pictures.
Snuggling back under my duvet I listened to the rattles and felt myself floating deeper into the kaleidoscopic universe seeing my own body curled up but instead of my skin and flesh, I saw myself as streaming veins of energy. Millions of thin fibre optic threads pulsated with warm healing energy which outlined my body.
I felt myself lying on the floor in the jungle with mystical symbols and ineffable tribal figures around me. I felt like I was in a different, timeless dimension however I was surprisingly lucid and could snap out of it to check myself with ease. At some point I had to giggle as my boring pragmatist made the smart-ass remark, ‘You’re not lying in the jungle. You’re in a garden less than 100 meters from the Thames estuary!’
I had my eyes closed for most of the afternoon. I was seeing ever richer patterns. When I opened my eyes the patterns were still there but they were overlaid on the reality in front of my eyes. I could change them with the blink of an eye or bring back shapes I had seen previously.
I started thanking this entity for showing me all this beauty and felt the urge to reciprocate. I revealed some personal memories but they looked so very different. It seemed like they had a photo filter applied that filled the memory with golden light as they came alive with breathtaking beauty, streaming with colourful energy. I visited various life moments and it felt like entering into a photo and suddenly being there on that day!
I was there sitting in our garden at home. Once again I was a chubby baby covering my face with baked beans. I was actually there! I was picking the baked beans off my face and pushing them, one by one into my mouth.
They say that Mother Ayahuasca is a deep ancient spirit and I always imagined her as a deeply serious, majestic queen. I started wondering what she might look like… and so she appeared.
She was stern but not an old woman. Aya was young, perfectly matched to my age and exceptionally beautiful. She had long, smooth brown hair and big beautiful eyes filled with power and inspiration. As I looked closer at her exquisite face I realized that her features were constantly changing complexion. Her skin cycled from Amazonian to Latin to Nubian to Oriental and Mediterranean. She was outlined by swirling rainbow-coloured curls of light. The rest of her naked body only came into being when I directly looked at it. I realize that she was not one woman but a combination of every beautiful woman I’ve ever felt attracted to. I wanted her. She wanted me. We kissed and whirled around as we floated through my Entheoverse. My body of swirling rainbow energy flowed into her and hers into mine and this is how we made love passionately.
I had visions of us being on a summer weekend getaway in a stylish city. We lay in luxurious hotel rooms and I remember a cream-coloured clock on the wall, with Roman numerals but no hands to tell the time. I was dressed smartly as I led her by her hand into classy restaurants that had champagne poured, waiting by our table. It was like we were on a never-ending date, teleporting from one experience into the next, eloping while taking our time to enjoy each other’s energy, and passionately loving one another.
Afterwards, she lay in my arms and I asked what else she could show me and she replied; ‘What else would you like me to show you?’ I wasn’t prepared for this and my mind went a bit blank realizing that I could do anything, go anywhere in space and time I wanted.
I asked her; ‘Can you help me find my confidence?’
There was no clear answer. Instead, I had the random idea to become the temple stem of my friend Julio’s glasses. I looked at him from the bit next to the hinge and I could see him put the glasses on in the morning, and take them off at night and in the reflection of his right eye, I saw him coming home and watched his beautiful daughter jumping into his arms. Then I saw on his eyeball the reflection of me walking into the room and a felt warm glow spread through me.
Next, I visited my baby nephew sitting in my brother’s living room, in his red chair. I crossed my hands on my chest like he does and saw my brother and his wife smiling at me giving me warm hugs but more than seeing their faces while they hugged my body I could feel the way they felt when they put their arms around me and press me to their chests.
I saw all my brother’s smiles and happy faces as we jollied about, trying to make each other laugh as we do. I visited all my closest friends, took in their smiles and one by one, as I hugged each of them, I could feel their love for me.

Later I realized that Aya was indeed trying to give me confidence by showing me how much the people in my life care for me

I visited the girl I had just started dating called Anna whose raw energy I find simply irresistible. I came into her new apartment that I’d never visited before. She was standing in sexy lingerie by a floor-to-ceiling window looking down onto the busy Tottenham Court road. I remember her turning her beautiful face as I approached, touching it with ten fingers and kissing her lips passionately as we erupted into rainbow swirls of energy.
I also visited my ex-girlfriend Jo, whose body and spiritual mind I still loved but whose soul is too damaged by the fear of rejection and tough mental armour I never managed to vanquish.
She was asleep in our white room in LA that she had so carefully decorated and I spooned my energy into her little body. She woke and we cuddled and kissed and I said I was sorry it didn’t work out between us and she replied; ‘It’s ok. I wasn’t ready for you…’
I asked Aya if we had made the right decision to stop forcing it and just be friends and felt her nod wisely.
At some point, I remember all three of us lying in bed together but instead of feeling like the king of the world, I felt like a greedy pig.
One of the underlying themes of the whole journey was how slowly gently and unhurried everything felt and I think the lesson I was meant to learn was that it’s ok to not settle right now — I thought I just haven’t found the one, the right woman to share my life with…
Aya kept giving me gentle advice throughout. I asked her about the stimulants I love such as cannabis, coffee and alcohol but instead of the stern telling-off I was secretly hoping to receive she told me; ‘You know they don’t serve you when you abuse them but they are also a part of what shaped you… Take care of the beautiful body you have been given.’
She repeated many times; Take care of yourself more… take care.
I asked Aya how I could find the power to harness my mind which has always been blessed and cursed with a distracting imagination and to keep my lack of attention from killing my dreams.
Instantly, I saw an unreal version of myself.
I was standing in something like a black shiny display window, straight out of a Mercedes advert. This guy was not merely a little bit better than I am now and I realized that the version staring back at me was my best self!
That guy is sharp, he is determined, and he dresses immaculately. That guy knows exactly what he is doing. When he enters the room, people notice his presence from the invisible halo that brightly surrounds him.
I asked Aya, how I could become him and the answer became clear. That guy works. He knows exactly where his energy comes from and all of a sudden I understood — The confident image he projects comes from the love he feels for himself which makes him look loved and successful in other people’s eyes. There is no room for distraction because that guy knows his worth and knows his purpose.
She gave me such a clear image of myself. I can still see myself standing motionless in the black, shiny shop window with rainbow-coloured fibre optic strains lighting the air that gently flowed around me.
How long I lay like that is impossible to say but I guess it was around 5–6 hours but it felt like an eternity of journeying into myself.
But it wasn’t all just warm energy and neon colours. I distinctly remember at some point realizing, it was time to go to the toilet. Afterwards, I walked back into the garden and found the Ewok-faced little terrier yapping at me. I laughed at him as I noticed the blue silver and chrome energy swirls around his head and ears. I couched down to see if I could pacify him but I suddenly became aware that his barking must be interfering with other people’s experiences. I turned to hurry into the tent as one of the shamans came out, to tell off the dog saying; ‘What’s wrong doggy, he’s alright!’ As I walked into the tent there were certainly more people sitting upright than when I had left and I read some irritated expressions on people’s faces, at least three people got up and walked out.
I lay down in shame but all my friend’s energy avatars ran up to me saying ‘It’s fine!’ as they doggy piled on top of me. It made me feel better. I felt them warm the cold shame out of me and I began relaxing again. I played around as before but the energy had markedly changed, it didn’t feel as light-hearted anymore. It was heavier and more serious. I was feeling the effects of the medicine becoming even stronger so I decided to sit up but when I opened my eyes, I saw Nubia hit the deck at my feet on a hastily arranged bed after having just purged into a bucket. I could see vomit in her black wavy hair as I started to think, ‘…oh dear if even the shamans are starting to falter, I’m in trouble.’
I didn’t know what to do. I tried to lie back down again. I asked Aya to help me, as she had several times previously when I’d gotten a little bit frightened but this time I could not sense her presence and I knew why. I had to go through this for myself.
It felt like I was sitting in a shopping trolley, rolling down a steep hill toward darkness, realizing as it picked up speed and bucked to and fro that this had been a bad decision, a dangerous idea and the only way it would end would be for the momentum to collide with suffering.
I needed help so I weakly put up my hand and within a few seconds, one of the shamans sat down next to me. She was wearing a white feather dress and occoured to me like an angel. She helped me sit up and as soon as I was sitting upright I began to retch. She passed me my bucket which I gratefully barfed into…
After I purged I felt better. My angel asked me if I felt okay again and I asked her to stay with me and hold my hand for a while longer, which she did. I gently leaned over and rested my head on her feathery bosom and felt a sense of peace and strength flow back into me. I saw my energy self, the swirling electrons of light curling my limbs as I sat cross-legged, hunched over like a bear cub being cradled by his mother bear.
She helped me lie back down and I started to return to my technicoloured dream state. I asked Aya if we could make love again and she said ‘Of course’ but it felt different, when I opened my inner eye to see the face of the person I was entangled with I saw my own. Aya had taken on my form and this might well be the strangest thing I’ve ever written but I was exceptionally attracted to myself and I realized that this could be how girls who are in bed with me see me. I could feel the burning desire a girl feels when we make love. It felt strange but also good.

They said Ayahuasca show you not what you want to see but rather what you need to see at any specific point in your life.

I visited countless friends, some people no longer in my life becouse we have grown apart and even those whose who have passed away. I visited my German grandparents and told them how much I loved them.
While I cuddled Oskar, the dog I grew up with, and played with him in our garden I looked up to see my dad approach us with tears in his eyes. I knew what he was going to say. When he told me that my grandmother had died I didn’t run away in confusion as I had on that day, instead, I went to hug my mom and for the first time, I empathized with the pain she had felt in that moment of hearing that her mother had passed.
I visited my friend Keith whose passing I have always felt a slight responsibility for since I know he read my travel blog and went to Costa Rica a month after I’d been there where he swam out to sea and drowned. I hugged him tightly and cried gently but he grabbed me firmly by the shoulders and said; ‘It wasn’t you! It wasn’t you…’
I visited my old school friend Alex who I had not been close to but whose misfortune to be on flight 447 still touched me. I told him and his beautiful fiance whom I’d never met that I was so sorry for them having been so frightened when they died but instead of me comforting them, they hugged and comforted me as I lay there silently crying for the people I missed. But it was not painful. Quite the opposite, it felt cathartic, like I was letting out the pain and healing myself.
At some point, while it was still light out Sun said “OK, I know that some of you are still on your journey but we will start having some food soon so if you want to share what you experienced now is the time.” I listened to some of the reports.
Several people said that they had a very rough ride because they had tried to fight it. One girl even said she was convinced she was dying. I felt very lucky and grateful for my gentle, warm ride through my multi-coloured Enthenoverse and wondered if I would ever return…
When it was my turn I said that I had finally been able to see how my friends and family see me and why they think I am awesome which will give me the confidence to finally believe that I am awesome (that got a laugh :). I also shared my new appreciation for how profoundly beautiful my life has been up until now and hoped that it will give me the strength to stop comparing myself to others, to focus on my own path and become my best self.

10 weeks later

My life has undeniably changed over the last 10 weeks.
The following day I drove back to my rented shepherd’s hut in a nature reserve and had an exceptionally rich experience walking through the marshes. The sun was shining and everything seemed so intensely beautiful. I was moved just by watching something as simple as a male and a female bird fly across the water in perfect sync. It made me well up emotionally.
I’ve cried a lot recently and I believe it’s a good thing. I cry on most days.
Usually, it happens when I see someone doing something kind and for a brief moment I get overwhelmed and shed a tear. But again, they are not tears of pain they are usually tears of joy and I feel like I have become much more in touch with my emotions.
It feels like bringing Aya’s female spirit into my awareness has tripped a switch in my brain making me more feminine, hence a more complete human being. I’ve also started to care more about my appearance. My mum commented recently that I looked different and she is right. I’ve been working out more. I get my hair cut more frequently and I’ve even gone and bought new clothes that dress me with more style, even when it’s not particularly necessary.
My work attitude has also changed. I find myself a lot more productive and capable of operating at a higher level while enjoying the entire experience so much more!
I honestly feel more in control of my life. I feel focused on who I am, who I can become and what I can achieve. Previously my decisions in life seemed more vague and fuzzy.
Above all, I feel the happiest that I have felt since childhood. The last 10 weeks have been almost like a too-good-to-be-true dream for me.
I’m also positively influencing the people around me. My grandfather wrote me the following sentence after my most recent visit.
You have this mysterious gift of raising the spirits of people both just by being there and by your gift of empathy.

Epilogue

I have indeed had more Ayahuasca ceremonies since I first wrote this and even though there was a 4 year gap between my 4th and my 5th experience I have felt the effect compound over time. After comparing all the brands(Honda, Toro, etc) I decided the sc900 best suited my mowing needs and just went ahead and purchased. Needless to say I’m excited to get mowing.
This will be my first cub cadet mower. Does anyone have experience with model regarding anything I should be aware of for maintenance?

I have a large wooded lot, but the cleared area is just shy of an acre with lots of obstacles (pool, boulders, bushes, the well). I have a lCub Cadet lawn tractor with a 3.5 gas tank, but I’m wondering on average how many times do y’all fill your mowers during the season? I mow about every two ish weeks, but as it goes into the summer I may have to do it every weekend.
My tractor also doesn’t have a gas gauge so I never know how much I’ve gone through. I bought it used from a guy who refurbished them and it came with an unknown amount of gas in the tank that I haven’t had to refill yet.

I have a 15 year old Cub Cadet push mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine. Recently it started leaking gas out of the carburetor as soon as I start filling the tank. I thought it was an issue with the carburetor gasket or float valve so I replaced the entire carburetor assembly, but the problem persists. Any recommendations on what to do next?

I'm going to transitioning from the Navy to the Army via an interservice transfer. I have four years, a deployment, and a lot of memories under my belt. I am electing to come back in as an O-1 into the Army as I have no interest in the limited job prospects that an O-3 with no Army experience would bring me, and frankly I don't give a shit -- it's just 4 years. My (fairly promising, at least based on what the Army side said) goal is to eventually be infantry.
Coming in as a new Army officer, what should I expect, both from the position of coming from a different branch and generally as a "new guy" Army officer?
What stuff (most likely) stays the same coming a ship, specifically ship-life? What changes the most?
How best can I take care of my people while still accomplishing the mission? I know this looks very different between branches. It's always a delicate balance.
What does the "daily grind" of a combart arms community look like? What's the "unnecessary BS day-to-day" that you guys get up to? (I can think of plenty of examples in the Navy, but I'm not sure they translate 1:1).

Im 25 with a bachelors in CyberSecurity, also an Eagle Scout. Have not done much volunteer or team leadership since then. Nor do I have much work experiance.
Am I too uncompetitive for an OCS slot for 17X?
I spoke to a recruiter who mentioned going enlisted at E4 with 17C, then after 1 year of training and 1 of actual work, applying for OCS then.
Is that a realistic scenario or classic recruiter talk getting my hopes up in order to boost elistment numbers?
Prior medical history includes inactive IBS + depression from a couple years back.
Also, what are the timeframes for getting in with both of these options?

Is it worth getting Emt certified or Paramedic certified before going Army? I got DQ at meps and was told I need to wait a year due to medication I was on last year. I'm trying to find something to fill my time for when I'm able to enlist next year. Is this a good idea or a waste of time?

I have been recently promoted, and clothing and sales is currently out of stock of my current rank, so I am unable to update my AGSU. We have room and uniform inspections soon, and my first line is attempting to make me wear my AGSU with incorrect rank. I have been looking through AR670-1 as well as AR700-84 trying to see if there is a reg against this, but have been unsuccessful in finding one. If there isn’t, I’ll deal, but I’m not too keen on wearing a previous rank. Any help backed by regs would be appreciated

I’m going National Guard. I’m still working through the beginning process with my recruiter. Here’s the catch: I wasn’t born in the US. I was born in Kazakhstan.
I was never naturalized because when I was adopted into my family in 2002, the Child Citizenship Act passed in 2000 stating that the amendment is “to provide for the automatic acquisition of U.S. citizenship when certain conditions have been met.” — I have met these conditions and am a legal citizen of 22 years (Section 320 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This amendment states that I also do not need a certificate of citizenship, which I never applied for as I legally do not need one.)
I have a passport, a social security card, a legal photo ID and a birth certificate. I DO HAVE a permanent resident card, but it expired years ago. I was a baby when my parents got it and they never renewed it. However, I am a US Citizen. I’ve lived here my entire life. The problem is, my recruiter insists that I must have that Permanent Resident Card up to date. I would do it in a heartbeat, but it costs $500.
Why is my passport, ID, SS card or birth certificate not enough to prove my citizenship? I’m frustrated and my parents are getting short with me constantly asking about it.

Kind of a situational question. My wife is scheduled for C Section June 21st and it looks like I may get PCS orders before then. If I do, and the kid comes, what do I do? Soonest my wife’s doc says she can move is 6 weeks postpartum and my wife can’t look after our first kid and newborn while she recovers from surgery. I just have a couple questions about how having a GED will affect my enlistment. I've heard it makes you ineligible for bonuses, but what about contract options? Could I still get an Option 4 contract? Option 19? If not, how many college credits would I need to move into the Tier 1 education category?

Im a dumbass and made and said a lot of stupid ass shit that some hater who had it out for me has been basically (not really) 'blackmailing' me with that was on my laptop (private, never uploaded) which he hacked into . It was a bunch of questionable shit I said that basically makes me paranoid reasonably that I could possibly be court martial'd but I was never arrested or anything, and I'm sure the guy would upload it again if I joined the Military just to tarnish my good name. I said all this when I was 18 , but basically this dude came to my house and threatened my family with a knife and I responded, 'not so good' , and as a result, I was basically 5150'd and had lied to the people saying I was suicidal resulting in a medical documentation which has made me fearful of ever going to MEPS. So at the time I was 'isolated' so in attempt to expose the fact that there was a legitimate danger I reasonably tried to court attention on Twitter and basically did and said everything that could ever allow me to hold a security clearance before deleting it.
My perception of the event was that he was threatening my family with a knife, but to the outside world, he simply slashed my families tires. Basically he baited me and fell for it. There was much more to the story but if I could go back in time I probably would not have reacted the way I did but I was 18 and my mind was barely developing.

I was 5150'd and I was told I could never hold public office and I am barred from the Medical field . This of course was a lie, but it's BASICALLY on my Medical record and it's a huge red flag. So naturally, unable to join the Military, I was unable to complete my mission and of course, was put on medication for some time (7 months) until I can figure out what to do. So I been working warehouse jobs ever since that day . I am 23 years old now, the incident happened when I was 18. I was and still am a cross country runner who is fit and healthy , who can complete the physical requirements just fine but the 'Moral' and 'Medical' is what's preventing me from joining, open to debate. I haven't made the same dumb mistake of reacting to my families tires being slashed since and learned from that experience .

Obviously the Police knows what was on my laptop because this dude went around with the unauthorized material he was not allowed to have and actually put the content in DVD's around the city hoping someone would pick it up and read it , and I actually worked at a warehouse which actually had a police officer who worked there at the warehouse to check the hard drives for CP (i dont know the deal about that) , and he found the very same DVD filled with the content of my basically unhinged responses that I never uploaded to the internet .

Basically this dude mentally ruined my life but I wasn't the only 1 he has done this to, he has hacked into multiple people's laptops and slashed other people's tires before and distributed information and he has been arrested in the past .

I was wondering if I could be court martial'd for unprofessional conduct before I even join the military or am I just overthinking this? I basically had this huge 4 hour clip of a rant about his twitter account on my laptop that was perfectly constitutional legal but if you took things out of context it sounds like something that would have me arrested if I was in the military , and I never uploaded it, nor planned to. maybe it's just all in my head but as you can imagine , the real problem isn't my speeches that were on my laptop but the 5150'd , which was at the time and information I had at my disposable,a completely reasonable reaction to a violent threat.

I recently graduated college and am looking for advice in terms of what I should expect/request in my contract for 68W MOS. I got my B.A. in cellular biology in the beginning of May and have been set on enlisting since my junior year; now that I'm in the last couple of steps with my recruiter before going to MEPS, I wanted to know if there was anything I should ask for based on my scores/degree (520 MCAT, 99 ASVAB, 146 GT) in terms of rank or guaranteed admission to schools (such as Airborne) coming in. I am looking at the 2-year contract as of now because I do want to apply to medical school down the line. If I enjoy my time, I am open to staying longer in the Army. However, there are some characteristics I currently need to work on that I know enlistment will provide (as opposed to OCS which would mean an extended contract) in addition to education benefits. Also, the alternative would have been doing a gap year in a lab or clinic which doesn't pay much better and is something I have done my fair share of. Any help is appreciated; thank you.

I've always had a draw to service, but my athletic opportunities usually kept me from it. Out of high school, I had the opportunity to play college baseball and passed up on trying the academy route. Once I got halfway through college, I wanted to try ROTC, but I was a starter on the baseball team and balls deep in a mechanical engineering course load, so it didn't seem feasible to add to my plate.
Now, I'm going on 24 with 2 years of experience as an ME in product development. Is there a military route for someone like me who does have a college degree, but is beyond the point of an ROTC college program? Is my specific degree useful for the military?

I'm joining the Army soon, within a month or two. I've come up with an MOS list I made based on what I'm interested in (this is NOT a list of my available jobs based on my ASVAB score, just some jobs that sounded interesting based on the field I was looking into). I was mostly considering Logistics and Supply, but I am open to other potential fields, and jobs that aren't in the list below. Like I said, I want to do something in logistics and supply, but more so, just something non-combative that allows me to travel to most bases. What do you guys think about it? Any recommendations? 30 year old with great Asvab and physical tests, no medical problems other than anxiety counseling in 2020. Problem 1: I have a large hand tattoo on my right hand. It’s a animal with some foliage and stuff. It is not on knuckles but descends from half sleeve down wrist and over top of hand.
Issue 2: I was discharged from navy boot camp in 2019. Long story. Mental health and personal reasons. I have an re-4 jfc on my dd 214. ( navy parting gift) I have authorized documents of treatment for my condition signed from doctor and no treatment or problems with mental health since early 2020 and no medication ever needed. Hey there ! I’m working things out to go to sign a 37F contract in the USAR soon since I had a high enough score on my ASVAB, but my recruiter confirmed that I would have to go to FSPC or Fat Camp due to being 2% over what’s allowed for body fat before I attend basic. I don’t mind basically getting paid to workout and learn about nutrition, but I’d love tips and just overall things to prep for before I have to ship out to it.

I have a uniform question that i can not seem to figure out using ar670-1 or the pam currently i have been wearing my improvised hot weather combat uniform but the one i was issued back in 2019 apparently is the first generation that has the mesh lining in the pants and no velcro on the top of the shoulder pockets and my first line was telling me he doesnt think this is authorized anymore since a newer version was released so he asked me to look into the regulations but i cant find anything saying if i can or cant where it the most i know as of right now is the ihwcu is authorized but i have an older version apparently but its also what they issued me at ocie so im trying to find if anyone can help me out or knows if i can still where this i dont wanna buy a whole other uniform just because this doesnt have velcro on the top of these pockets

Do you need a DA Form 1610 to attend the BAC? Fort Moore's website states you cannot attend BAC in a leave status, but how would anyone walk on if that's the case? And soldiers do walk on, I've heard firsthand.

I'm enlisting in the Army Reserve as a 35L and soon to go to basic in a few weeks. I have a couple of questions that are hovering over me since I'm counting down the days to basic training. I'm a lot older then most of the trainees are going to be in basic. I fear if I get injured or recycle for whatever reason. Will they change my mos because I didn't meet the allotted time slot for 35L AlT? Will I become over holdover until the next class? How frequent are the courses if held over? And also to add if any directions toward course work should I start studying to familiarize myself with?

I am shipping out to basic training at the end of June. Has anyone had any experience with sick call during training and/or reception when dealing with seasonal/pollen allergies?
If this affected you, did you get prescribed anything or go to sick call any once in a while? I lived in GA for a stint and the pollen down south was not my friend so trying to prepare for the worst if possible. Not taking any meds right now.

I have a cub cadet XT1 riding lawnmower. My dad replaced the carburator and a couple ither things and now it wont get fuel. Whats a reddit where i can get help troubleshooting?

The cast of Strange New World has completed a season two press junket related to MCM Comic Con in which they talked to multiple outlets about what we can expect in season two of Strange New Worlds.
I thought it would be nice to gather the information I've found in a central hub so people who are interested don't have to track down every interview themselves. Feel free to click over to the interviews and listen to them in their entirety, or simply read the highlights I have provided below.
Collider highlights:

Rebecca Romijn and Anson Mount both agree that episode nine is their favorite.
Rebecca Romijn: "like season one but bigger and better."
Anson Mount: "Jack (Quaid) and Tawny (Newsome) came in and had full ownership of what they were doing, which you have to do with comedy."

All Access Star Trek highlights:

Number One's trial will occur in episode two, Rigel VII's return will be in episode four, and Lower Decks cross-over will be in episode seven (it will be directed by Jonathan Frakes).
Strange New Worlds will have more classic comedic scenes this season.
Uhura will be more comfortable "letting her hair down."
Each episode feels like a movie, genre continues to play an important role in the episodic nature of this season. "Feels almost like different shows." Rebecca Romijn is not sure that all the genre work done this season will be embraced by all fans.
A fan asked if there was a musical episode this season, Celia Rose Gooding said she could not answer the question. Celia did say that the impact of Hemmer's death will be felt in season two and the audience will learn more about his and Uhura's relationship even though he's gone.
Lower Decks cross-over is "ridiculously fun" according to Rebecca Romijin. Jonathan Frakes is repping the ship name Spoimler. Jack got to do some improvising. Kirk isn't in the cross-over.
Number One feels the freedom of getting to live authentically after her courtroom episode. Described as a "metamorphosis."
Pike is mostly done navel-gazing, but his challenge continues to be to remind himself that the journey is the destination. Captain Batel and their relationship has been an important part of that reminder this season.
M'Benga is still finding his way, at least initially. It's a struggle, but he continues to go forward to see what his future will bring. More of a focus on M'Benga and Nurse Chapel. The audience will learn about their backstory.
According to Jess Bush, Spock and Chapel's relationship gets "really complicated" this season.
Ethan Peck talked about how difficult it was to keep in mind Spock and Kirk's relationship because their characters are currently so far from the beginning of the original series. Ethan mentioned Carol Kane and how he enjoyed getting to work with her and become friends with her. He also said he's most excited for fans to see episode five.
Paul Wesley talked about how he thought it would be a mistake to automatically be the version of Kirk we see in the original series. Kirk is still trying to figure himself out. The fun in playing the character is to slowly evolve into who we are familiar with. Says in many ways Kirk is still a boy in Strange New Worlds. He's still a lieutenant, he's not ready to be a captain yet. Paul wants to get to the point where he can play the character as someone who has a deep confidence and an unwavering sense of who he is but Kirk isn't there yet.
Spock will go through many different aspects of self-exploration. He may appear more human at times, and more Vulcan at other times. Ethan said the writers are writing him more human than in the original series.
Carol Kane will be a recurring character, meaning she will not be in every episode.

Open Pike Night highlights:

M'Benga's shows different aspects of his personality this season. He has more action scenes. More of his past and history will be revealed this season. He will be on an away mission.
What the audience is watching in season two is Melissa Navia at the most difficult point in her life due to the loss of her partner, Brian. It was infinitely more difficult to play Ortegas in season two due to that loss, but she did it.
Ensign Uhura is a bit more established than Cadet Uhura. She now has people that have to answer to her, instead of having to answer to everyone else but she's still human and still trying to figure herself out. She's one step closer to the Uhura we know in TOS this season.
La'An and Uhura's relationship is different in season two. Uhura is a bit more relaxed around La'An. She also stands up to La'An in episode two.

On Thursday, my Cub Cadet self-propelled unit started surging. It has a GCV160.
I figured it had been caused by a strike in my truck box while working. I took apart the carb, cleaned it, and resassbled it. I checked the fuel filter and flushed out the fuel hoses and tank. I cleaned the relatively new spark plug and swapped air filters from my other mower. This did not work.
It was the top governor spring. A neighbor who had done landscaping for 20 years pointed out that a branch must have got caught and unwound it just enough to cause a problem. 1.5 hours spent on such a simple solution. At least my carb is clean now.

I have a Husqvarna zero turn with a Briggs and Stratton 19hp single cylinder engine (33S877 0010 G1). Was cutting grass and there was a big bang and it died right off. A little off investigation and right away noticed no compression. Pulled spark plug right away noticed that the piston head wasn't moving when I spun the output shaft by hand. Pulled exhaust and carb off both valves are moving when output shaft is spun by hand. Pulled the head off and head gasket looks like it had a bit of a leak into the chamber where the valve push rods are. I know a bit about engines but and I'm more than willing to attempt to fix it my self for just the parts but I don't think it's worth bringing it away for repairs as it's about a 10 year old mower with a fair bit of hours and a crappy deck. If I do decide to attempt to rebuild it my self what other parts should I be replacing at the same time? Any tips or things to look for?

note: an update (more like sidegrade) to the previous version of star warrior deck. I decide to go with a version that is lean more on the warrior side with battleguards and feast of the wild. Feast of the wild is not once per turn and can is searchable by battleguard cadet and we use isolde to summon cadet from deck. So what here is several plans for the deck

double hooking is pretty decent to summon kaiki and todoroki on your turn so you can fusion something using the monster summoned by double hooking.
Phoenix blade is our recoverable discard fodder for double hooking or fusion recycling plant.
Fusion recycling plant can be used to get our 1 polymerization into rotation. Discard something and add poly from GY or deck and on end phase recover 1 fusion material from GY. It also activates on opponent turn so the fusion eff of kaiki can return 1 material to your hand which you can use as fusion material or discard fodder.

You technicaly can search floodgate-y monster like spell canceller, cracking dragon or maybe gizmek uka (then uka can summon a barrier statue, but the zone is full of token if you summon it using dovelgus on step 6, so uka is more of deterrence). The high level monsters we put in there are machina citadel/fortress and some questionable gizmek card. I just want to summon gizmek okami, that's all there is.
Use dovelgus to tribute monster(s) pointed by genius to summon whatever you just searched. And if you summon 2 monsters at the same time, genius gets another search.

Vala is pretty good girl. We can send her as cost for kujikiri curse and can special herself from GY by sending a generaider card. If she is summoned, she can summon a generaider from hand/gy. Giving you easy access to her...I mean her xyz form, laevatein, if you so desire. But I'm a man who like big machine so I opt for mountain slicer and enterblathnir instead.

Your pure metalfoes combo end board probably just end on mithrilium+combination+full metalfoes fusion+vanisher in ED/hand/GY in a good day. The end board gives us option to summon orichalc on opponent turn, trigger mithrilium+combination, mithrillium summon vanisher, and combination sumon mithrillium. This gives you 3 body and a banish from field or gy, and orichalc can destroy opponent card if it is sent to gy.

note: This is not a BLS ritual deck. BLS ritual have same issue with Dark magician Ritual deck. The deck is just awkward. Their ritual is lv8, but main deck monsters are gaia the fierce knight monster with level 7. The ritual also does not help either, all of them must tribute exactly level 8, some even require you to sned LIGHT and DARK monsters. Forcing you to play awkward level 1 DARK/LIGHT monster. The gameplan is just simple. Just an updated version of ursarctic deck here (Some of tech choice there like guan yun can also be played here if you want). We blind 2nd and use lv8/7 ursarctic as disruption by tributing our high level monsters. then summon something big (BLS's/advent dragon) to inflict massive damage.
Both chargin/arisen gaia act as tribute fodder for ursarctic monster then ursarctic monster on the field are tribute fodder for advanced dragon. The gaia monsters float into other things when tributted, charging can search a BLS monster, and arisen can special a BLS monster from hand/GY. Gateway to chaos is our searcher for those gaia monsters. The ratio for ursarctic monsters can be better tuned to your liking.
We have 2 BLS boss monsters in envoy of the beginning and sacred soldier. Both are searchable by charging gaia. Envoy have some line of play with advance dragon, special envoy, banish something, tribute it to summon advance dragon, destroy another, advance attack, bring back envoy frm gy, banish another monster. The banish eff is once per turn per copy. Sacred soldier must be tribute summoned or special summoned using arisen trigger eff. Its banish eff is "when..you can..." eff so make sure arisen eff is CL1.

note: the new superheavy samurai engine is pretty neat 1 card full scale engine, you scale wakaushi, use his eff to scale monk big benkei and special iself. Then use big benkei eff to search soulgaia booster, equip soulgaia booster to wakaushi then special booster from s/t zone. Now we have level8 or rank4 engine without eating our normal summon. If we want to get full scale, we can use soulgaia booster and wakaushi as synchro material to scale wakaushi from ED. Of course since we play zefra deck, we would like our high scale to be zefraath that copies zefraniu scale so we don't do the last part. Instead we use soulgaia booster+ushiwaka as xyz material for gallant granite to search zefraath. This will free up our providence+oracle to search more important tools. Sakitama is our other way to get lv4 bodies to the field before eating our "normal" normal summon for turn. If you already have access to zefraath, the superheavy package can be used as synchro material for void ogre dragon, a big dragon with s/t negate if you emptied your hand. Other option will be use wakaushi as tuner to summon synchro longyuan with zefraniu. Overall you have good amount of option for your extra deck.

HI folks, I have a fairly new Cub Cadet LT42E electric ride on mower. I recently noticed a few time this Wrench icon will popup with the error code S01. I checked the manual (and for some reason there are like 1000 submodels of this, so I check each manual) and this error code, nor this icon seems to exist. I did a lot of searching online and found absolutely nothing

Has anyone seen this before and know what its for? If I remove the key and put it back in, I'm usually good to use it again, but if I get off the mower to empty the bags or something, I'll need to take the key out to clear the error.

Long rant ahead.
Ever since we've been together I've done all of the housework. I get the kids ready for school, take care of the animals, cook most of the meals, do the grocery shopping, buy presents, coordinate lessons, the list goes on and on.
9 months ago my husband got laid off from his job and he has been on unemployment ever since. At first I liked this idea cause I could pull the kids from daycare (which I pay for mostly) and save some money. But that's literally all he is good for - to watch the kids. And it's bare minimum effort aka staying in his game room all day or fucking around with his four wheeler. Doesn't take the kids outside or do much with them except take them to the store a minute down the road for a treat once in a while.
I work 40+hrs a week and am also pregnant. I'm hormonal and exhausted. I still have to cook supper 90% of the time when I get home because husband is on this special diet for his gut health and for some reason thinks that's an excuse not to cook for the kids. He doesn't do dishes. If he cooks a big lunch while I'm gone I'm left with the dishes when I get home. He half ass does laundry. Will wash and throw it in a basket and make me fold and put away then say "well at least I did that much I could have done none". He'd walk through inches of dirt and grime on the floor and not clean it. He barely helps with the cat litter and since I'm pregnant I can't change it. I've had to ask my friend to do it 3 times now cause it gets so disgusting then he gets mad at me for having a cat and making him clean it. Valid point but it's not for forever and he should want a clean area too.
I bring this up to him and you know what his excuse is? That when we got together 7 years ago I said I didn't mind doing the housework so therefore its my job forever apparently and he shouldn't have to do it. If I have ever regret something in my life it would be telling him that. I didn't know he would take it so literal. And I didn't have 2 kids then either so the workload was significantly less.
I went home on my lunch break today and he was throwing a fit cause the house was messy and he didn't want to leave his room cause the mess bothered him. Why is it messy? Well he let the kids ramsack the living room with toys and didn't make them pick up cause "whats the point they'll just mess it up again", cooked a large lunch and left dishes and shit all over the counter. Won't clean the litter. Won't put a load of laundry in. Won't sweep and mop the floor. Didn't take the garbage out for garbage day yesterday so now the bin is overflowing.
I'm so tired of it. I feel like I have 3 kids and him being the worst of them all. The entitlement is unreal. What does he do? Nothing. The grass in our lawn is probably a fucking foot high cause our mower is broke but he won't fix it or find somebody else to mow it. Our front deck needs repaired but he won't fix it til it's literally falling apart.
I'm going to snap eventually. I just cannot wait until he goes back to work and I'm home on maternity. At least then I have all day to do shit instead of coming home wiped from work and still having to do it all. Plus I'll be taking care of a newborn on top of that.
Everyone should do their part, not just one person in the relationship.

I sprinted hard up the stony stairway, my two companions following closely behind. We had gotten enough headway that our pursuers were out of earshot, and it was dark enough that they might not spot us instantly if we hid, but we couldn't dally or they'd be on us before we could even catch our breath. Still, I could tell Annie was out of breath and Otto was still bleeding from his wounded leg.
We couldn't keep this up, but I spotted a potential salvation: a wooden shack on the side of the mountain, illuminated from within. I pulled slightly ahead and banged on the door, hoping for a fast response. My companions quickly caught up, but Otto stumbled and collapsed behind me and the moment Annie stopped she started gasping for air.
It took a moment longer than I would've liked, but finally a middle-aged man opened the door. His voice was low and gruff, like the crackle of a campfire, and the backlighting from his hut combined with his size and sneering gaze caused him to cut a dark and imposing figure.
"Yes? Ah, heroes, prosecuted vagabonds, miscreants... whatever, come in before the hail of stone gets you," he said.
I quickly ushered my companions inside, and the man closed the door behind me.
"Do you have healing magic? Those wounds will require treatment," he asked, gesturing at Otto.

"Hm?" he asked, looking back at me. "Who said anything about sacrifice?"
It was at that point that the soldiers reached us, shouting for us to stop in the name of the king.
Our host merely whirled around and hucked the jug over their heads, blasting it with fire. The jug exploded, raining burning oil down on the soldiers, who immediately panicked and began attempting to pat out the flames. Some even dove from the cliffside, presumably attempting to douse themselves in the sea below. The rocky cliffside had other ideas, and many ended up bouncing once or twice before hitting the water. Those who weren't being baked in their armor simply pushed past their allies and continued charging at us.
"We can't win here! We need to run!" I said, grabbing our host's arm.
He simply raised his other arm, and shot a blast of magic that covered the top few steps in a layer of ice, before jerking his arm away. As the soldiers reached him, they began to slip on the ice. Some of them immediately fell off the side of the mountain, but those that reached him were "encouraged" off with a blow to the head. The soldiers at the back of the group quickly backed off and retreated back down the mountain.
"Come to my mountains with this half-assed assault force? They just don't make tyrants like they used to," he said, tapping his staff against his boots to knock off the teeth and blood that had gotten on them.
"Sir? Who are you?" I asked.
"Ah, right, the name's Wolfgang," he said.
"Sir Wolfgang? As in the knight who slew the mad king half a decade ago?" I asked.
"The one and only," he said, stepping back inside his hut. I followed him, watching as he collected a few bottles from his pantry and grabbed a framed picture off one of his shelves.
"Is there a reason you're grabbing everything? The soldiers are gone now..." I asked.
"Not for long, they'll be back in a matter of days. You picked up the cat, right?" he asked.
"Yes, my sister has it," I said.
"Good, she was Claus', so she can be a bit stubborn with me," Wolfgang said. He grabbed an open wine bottle and drank from it until it was empty.
"Uh, is this going to take long?" I asked.
"Just go ahead, I'll catch up," he said, opening the door and hurling the empty bottle onto the stairs. I could see a small group of the soldiers creeping back up the stairs toward the hut, but when the bottle shattered, the broken glass made them stop their advance again.
The soldier at the front of the group gave some quiet command to the others, and they began using their hands to carefully brush away the glass.
"What are you waiting for, boy? Get moving!" Sir Wolfgang shouted at me. I quickly ducked into the trapdoor, and began hurriedly climbing down the stairs.
Annie and Otto were just now getting into the small boat, which appeared to be an old fishing vessel large enough for four to five people. I quickly hopped into the boat, and helped the two of them in before I started untying it from the mooring.
"What about the old guy? Is he not coming?" Annie asked.
"He should be here soon, but the soldiers are still behind us," I said.
As I spoke, a rope lowered down from above holding the bag Wolfgang had been loading things into, which came down onto the deck. Wolfgang quickly slid down the rope after it, before hurling a fireball up at the shack above him. We quickly took the hint, and began pushing away from the dock, with the bag and Wolfgang landing on the deck as we began to part.
"Whoof, that almost got messy. Boy, when I tell you to get going, you need to get going!" he said.
"I couldn't just let you throw yourself away! That's not what heroes do!" I said.
"Not what heroes do? You're telling me that you were planning to fight them alongside a man you barely knew, out of some idiotic sense of honor?" he asked.
"Well... It would be preferable to just letting an innocent person die," I said.
"Honor is a lie made by the powerful to make the multitudes feel safer. You don't just jump into a fight you don't have to, and if you have to fight then you fight to win!" Wolfgang said.
"That doesn't sound very heroic, sir," I said.
"Bah, you remind me of Claus. All about truth, justice, and honor up until you get your fool head lopped off and leave it to the rest of us to finish the quest," he said.
"You don't sound like most of the knights I've met," I said.
"Knight? You mean this is-" Otto began to ask.
"Yes, but before I became a knight I was just known as the Night Wolf, terror of the western forest. But that's a long story," Wolfgang said.
I looked out over the open water, and up at the collapsing hut on the side of the coastal mountain ridge.
"I think we've got time," I said.
"Perhaps not as much as you think," Wolfgang said, pulling on a rope and snapping his fingers. The sail on the fishing boat unfurled, and a gust of wind kicked up, carrying the boat up the coast, away from the direction from which we'd come.
"So is this him?" Annie asked, holding up a framed photo. Her other hand was stuck in the bag Wolfgang had brought down with him, but I hadn't even noticed her digging through it. The photo depicted Wolfgang and another man, who even with just the one image could be identified as being leaner and far more cheerful than the man we'd been speaking with.
While I had assumed he would be angry with my sister, Wolfgang let out a raucous laugh and said, "Indeed, that's him. You seem like a sharper sort, girl."
"Thank you, sir," she said.
"So you said you wanted to know about my past?" he asked.
"I mean, we didn't say we wanted to know, just that your excuse for not telling us seemed flimsy," I said.
"So you don't want to know?" he asked.
"I'd like to know," Annie said.
"That's what I thought. It started back in that little mountain village, a lad living with his family herding sheep. Then one day raiders came, killed both his parents, before stealing all their valuables and the lad himself," he said.
"Aw, that's so sad..." Annie said.
"Yes, it is, but as the boy grew he learned to fight and to command respect. As leader after leader among the bandits died, he ended up in charge, and just like those before him looted and pillaged the countryside," Wolfgang said.
I could see a lighthouse in the distance, directly ahead of the bow of the boat.
"Then one day, his group assaulted a caravan, lead by a brave and dashing hero, who easily bested all but the most elite fighters among the bandits. As the others withdrew, the former village boy fell behind. There's no honor among thieves, so none of his comrades came to save him, nor did he expect them to. Instead, he made his prayers and turned to face the young man," Wolfgang said. "The hero got the upper hand, but after having sand thrown in his eyes, he got knocked over and run through..."
"Wait, but didn't you and Claus end up being friends?" Annie asked.
"Turns out he was a hero of legend, one of the gods' chosen, so he came back," Wolfgang said. "Caught me off guard when he came directly to our camp and assaulted it to liberate the people we'd kidnapped from the caravan. He was expecting the dirty tricks this time, so he managed to beat me. But instead of just killing me, he offered me an ultimatum: Give up my life as a bandit, or give up my life as a living person. Naturally, I chose the former, and joined him in his quest, and together we slew the Duke of the Shade."
"The Duke of Shade? But you're famous for slaying the mad king," I said.
"Indeed, Claus was a hero of legend, and his legend was done, but tyrants are forever," Wolfgang said. "When a new king ascended the throne, and turned out to be a monster, he took on another journey to stop him, and I came along. Long story short, he did the same he did with me, asked the king to change his ways, and the king betrayed his trust to put him in the ground... Turns out, the gods don't care what happens to a hero once their destined quest is done, so Claus was gone for good."
"So you moved to the mountains to... Wait for more adventurers?" I asked, looking at the small dock coming into view through the mist.
"No, I just didn't want to deal with people any more. Bastards, the lot of them, and the good ones tend to die young," he said. "Looks like we're here."
The boat pulled toward the dock, and Wolfgang threw a rope over the mooring before hopping out of the boat. A middle-aged woman was standing on the nearby shore, and approached us as we exited.
"Thought I'd heard a strange wind, turns out it's just an old wolf caught in the surf," she said. "Though this is the first I've seen of his cubs."
"They're just a loan, for the time being. Heroes, this is Sonia the Cyclops," he said. As Sonia got closer, it became clearer that she was blind in her left eye, though she lacked the eyepatch to make it fashionable.
"And this is the greeting I get after all we've been through together! Honestly, this guy," she said, with all the offense of someone responding to a joke from a long-time friend. "So what brings you lot here?"
"Well, we fought off some bandits, then a group of soldiers came by the orphanage to arrest us for no reason," I said, recalling the last few days events in as succinct a manner as I could.
"Ah, must be a prophecy," Sonia said. "Come on, I'll take you kids to the oracle so you can get a proper start on your journey. Care to come with, Wolf?"
"No thanks, Cy, I've got to get to a bathhouse. Might swing by later to give them some pointers on fighting, but I've seen enough oracles for one lifetime," Wolfgang said.
"I'm sure the goddess of destiny has... forgotten about all those things you called her after she said the gods wouldn't bring Claus back," Sonia said.
"All the same, I'm not going," Wolfgang said.
"Suit yourself. Come on, kids, we're burning moonlight," she said.
With that, Sonia led us off into the mist, toward a large building which claimed to hold the secrets of the future. Wolfgang took off in a different direction, heading for some other place I couldn't see due to the ever-thickening morning mist. We wouldn't end up seeing him again for the rest of our journey.

I am moving to a ~2 acre property that has maybe 3/4 acre of grass area, and a fairly long driveway (150+ feet, plus a paved parking area). I'm looking to get some equipment I can use to cut the grass and snowblow the driveway myself. I see some ride-on mowers from John Deere and Cub Cadet have snowblower attachments. Anyone have experience with specific models and would recommend one vs the other? driveway area is totally flat, grass is somewhat hilly, if that matters. we are in new england so we usually get a decent amount of snow but nothing too crazy. driveway is gravel so i prefer snowblower to a plow to avoid plowing all our gravel into the grass / flower beds / etc. thanks!
