When Ser Alliser is sent off on a dangerous ranging beyond the Wall in ADWD, he warns Jon that if he is killed by the Others, he will come back for revenge as a wight. While that would make a pretty cool scene, I think it makes more sense for the story for Ser Alliser to come back. Here are my reasons:
1) GRRM could be purposely leading us to believe that Ser Alliser will die to set up readers to be surprised when he survives and is just fine.
2) Melisandre prophecizes that three of the nine rangers Jon Snow sent out will die, and that's what happens. She never predicts Ser Alliser's death.
3) Ser Alliser was a knight in King's Landing who served the Targaryens before the rebellion. Given that we all know R + L = J, its interesting that Ser Alliser may have known Rhaegar Targaryen personally. Perhaps they were even friends (or enemies). When Jon Snow learns his parentage, I think he's going to embrace his Targaryen identity (all that foreshadowing about not being welcome in the Stark's home). It could be interesting to explore this connection
4) Ser Alliser is kinda a core character. He's been in it since the first book. He's arguably Jon Snow's main antagonist, and Jon Snow is arguably the main character of the series. Snow worries about Ser Alliser and his associates even after he is sent off. Him returning as a mindless wight would eliminate all of the character drama that Alliser has.
5) Now that Jon Snow is dead, a new "choosing" will happen to pick the new Lord Commander. Cotter Pyke is in trouble at Hardhome (possibly dead), Denys Mallister is at the Shadow Tower, and Janos Slynt is dead. The most obvious choices to me are Othell Yarwyck; Bowen Marsh; maybe even Edd Tollet; and (if he returns) Se Alliser. All four of these men ran in the last election. It could be Bowen Marsh, but I think Ser Alliser would be the most interesting choice. Even though Ser Alliser is unlikeable, he might be supported by both the anti-Jon faction (because they know he hates Jon) AND the pro-Jon faction of the NW (because they know he wasn't involved in Jon's mutiny)
Some more thoughts on Alliser's Fate:

• Assuming Ser Alliser returns, it will change the story depending on when he arrives. Will he return before or after Jon's resurrection? Will he return before or after R + L = J is revealed? It's not clear when or where these events will happen. Jon could be resurrected at Castle Black, Winterfell, or the Nightfort. He could be resurrected early in TWOW, the middle, or late in the book. There are many ways R + L = J could be revealed; maybe Samwell learns in Oldtown; Bran learns via the trees; Howland Reed shows up; maybe Benjen knows. I dont know where or when that will happen, but I think it should happen in TWOW, maybe near the end of the book.
• If Alliser returns, it will have to be an event in a chapter. It won't happen "off-page"
• If Ser Alliser is going to be Lord Commander, then he will return soon, maybe in the first Melisandre chapter. They will probably be electing a new Lord Commander in the first Melisandre chapter. The NW and the Wildings will reach an uneasy stalemate in the wake of Jon's murder; this is only because the NW controls the hostages that Jon collected from the Wildling-chiefs at the end of ADWD, as I wrote in my "blood price theory" .
• If the Lord Commander is Ser Alliser, he will probably decide to hand over Selyse, Shireen, Mel, Monster, and Val to Ramsay. (But Bowen Marsh would make the same decision if he were Lord Commander)
• If Ser Alliser becomes Lord Commander, maybe he will hate Ghost. Maybe he'll want Ghost to be kicked out of Castle Black. Maybe he'll want to burn Jon's body
• I wonder if it's possible for Ser Alliser to have a redemption story. Jon Snow considers this:

"Jon watched the riders go from atop the Wall—three parties, each of three men, each carrying a pair of ravens. From on high their garrons looked no larger than ants, and Jon could not tell one ranger from another. He knew them, though. Every name was graven on his heart. Eight good men, he thought, and one … well, we shall see." (Jon VI, ADWD)

• It would be cool for Alliser to have a redemption story maybe, but it would also be cool for Alliser to come back alive and do one last thing to fuck up Jon's mission somehow
• If Alliser and resurrected-Jon Snow ever meet up after R + L = J, I'd be interested to see how Ser Alliser reacts
• It's interesting that Ser Alliser is basically Jon Snow's #1 enemy, yet he's also the one guy who's definitely innocent in Jon's assassination. I wonder if GRRM did this on purpose so that he could conceivably have Jon and Alliser meet after R + L = J is revealed. The mutineers may not survive long, if Alliser is one of them than neither will he

What do you guys predict about Ser Alliser Thorne's fate and how he may effect the story in Castle Black?
Am I way off base? Is he just gonna be gone forever? Will he return as a wight? Is it wrong to think he'd be Lord Commander since he is considered unlikeable? Is it wrong to think he might have some kind of redemption arc? You heard any good theories regarding Ser Alliser?

So I racked up a debt which started at 6.5k. I forgot to tell a university that I quit. Partly because i went hospital and just assumed theyd take me off the course automatically after the next term. I had cancelled my student finance like an idiot. So they charged me for the whole year. I had known about this debt but I was not in the right position to be paying as I had a house that was too expensive for my means. I ended up brushing it to the side.
Fastforward When I moved back in with my parents 3 years later, I open all my mail which has been left for me. I see the debt has risen to 11,000. And that a CCJ was sent bur I didn't receive and open it in time. I got an anxiety attack and begun feeling lost and annoyed. Partly because the debt was only 6.5k before and because I'm still inbetween agency jobs trying to stick with something I can do. The CCJ letter said 8.5k. That was a year after.
I then opened a more recent letter stating Equita debt collection requires the collection of assets and they would like to visit. My mother refused to open the door for them when they came and I feel like an idiot for causing this trouble at home.
I would like to pay this debt back, however I was wondering if I can pay less than the 11k they're asking for, considering the original debt is 6.5k. Also how the hell will I be able to do it? I'm expected to pay rent, some bills and shopping at home and wherever I move I will pay even more rent because its London. I'm unsure of my rights in this situation. Should I be paying this much? And how would it work out in payments? Will I incur interest charges as I'm paying it back?

I've been running the setup for about a month now and working on getting the repos ready to share over the last two weeks especially. The included services so far are very much my own favorites but I am very open to requests and collaboration so please get in contact or open an issue if you'd like to contribute.

So I live in a complex where there are many buildings that hold a group of units. For our purposes, I will be unit D10 (not my actual unit) and the units in the same building as me are units D7-D12 in order from left to right.
D9 recently moved out and in their place is a family with 2 or 3 kids. Their kids are incredibly rude but I'll get to that in a moment.
We have had a package go missing on us recently with an item that would be considered highly valued to a child (think toy, plush, candy, or game). It was marked as delivered but it's realistically a toss up on if it was stolen or not and just lost. We are worried that if it was a thief and the thief was a child, then next time they take a package it might be a decorative sword or knife (we are collectors and it's legal where we are) or alcohol (every resident on the lease for our unit is legal to drink, one of us has a partner who is 20 but they do not partake and we do not offer to serve).
We also have seen a young child (early elementary/grade school age) go INTO our landscaping/flower bed to look inside out unit. He didn't care he was noticed, he stayed until he was bored then left. We believe he's a child of D9 as we saw black and white footage of a similar child going onto our step and entering D9 with who we believe is his dad.
We also had out yard decorations and lights knocked down. Today, someone completely broke the base making them unusable.
We set up a camera doorbell and plan to put new lights up tomorrow in hopes of catching the thief, however, we have a suspect with a girl around 11-13 running up to where they were, looking, and running away. We believe she lives in D8 or D7, more likely D7.
In addition to all of this we had both adults and children come up to our doorstep and jiggle the doorknob, they only stop once they see us looking. We believe one of the adults is D8 or D7, but most likely D7.
We are concerned that the neighbors are testing the waters to see if we are viable for a robbery. Keep in mind they did all of this in front of the doorbell, albeit, motion sensing was not on until now due to battery drain (we are close to the sidewalks and it catches people just passing by).
The police around here have been nistoriously bad and hostile. Last time one was around I had a former neighbor in the same complex say, to an officers face, that she planned to go and beat me once he left (she never did), and he admitted to me that she's been guilty of multiple counts of noise violations, tried to cite me for making false noise complaints, then retroactively marked each report as a false report. He's been out right hostile to me ever since I offered to show him WEEKS to MONTHS of recordings, denied looking or accepting any recorded evidence of this white woman calling me, another white woman the n word by screaming through the wall, and blasting rap at 3 AM, and told me I'm "not allowed" to call 911 on the neighbor he knew wanted to physically harm me through a first hand statement. Realistically, the cops are not an option unless I have the landlord contact them on my behalf and act as a middle man so the officers know that there is a 3rd party that also sees these actions as an issue and has documentation of the evidence and my complaints.
As I mentioned before, I plan to try and capture the person destroying my crap and hopefully an adult or child testing my doorknob tomorrow so that I may go to my landlord on Tuesday to file an official complaint. Is there anything else I should be doing?
Additional info:

1. I live in a 1 party consent state.
   
2. My state allows for me to record in front of my home and the doorbell barely captures the entire step and most of the flower bed. I am not encroaching on anyone's privacy. I also set it to activate for the sidewalk near the lights, the walkway up to the door, the step in front of the doors (it's shared space with the walkway), and my landscaping bed.
   
3. The lease does not forbid camera doorbells and the mount I have will not damage the door or walls. According to the lease, the camera doorbell is acceptable.
   
4. The fact it is also adults trying to open the door and I had an outright dangerous and violent experience with the last neighbor and police, I am hesitant to talk to them both and will be asking the manager for a warning for the residents unless I catch them trying to tamper with my door again or break my lights, then I'll ask him to take furthur action and request a strike on their accounts (3 makes an eviction i believe they go away over time with good behavior) if the person committing the action was an adult. I'm not going to get a grade school kid in that much trouble, but if it is a kid after all, I will request the manager talk to the parents about behavioral expectations and depending on how they react will/wont be seeking a strike for furthur destruction (if the kid has a disability or behavioral issues and the parents are actually trying to get the kid assistance properly and make an honest attempt to curb the behavior, I'll drop it. If they're entitled and they think their kid can just break other people's things, then they contributed to the problem and need to learn the hard way).
   

A while back, me (F20) and Bee (F19) became really good friends in college, we would constantly hang out and i really felt like i had made a life long friend, until…i got her a job at my workplace. It was a good opportunity making a good amount of money for being a college student so i thought she would have been appreciative but she was everything but. She started constantly ignoring me despite my attempts to try to hang out with her. I was so confused as to why she was ignoring me, but i didn’t let that stop me from trying to get back in touch with her. She ended up quitting the job i got her and then went home for the summer. Through out this whole summer, i texted her wishing her well, telling her that we should hang out soon. But…i kept getting ignored. Summer ended, and she came back to our college town and would only text me for favors. not even a “hello, how have you been?”, she went straight to “can i borrow this? can you take me here and pay? “ and i’m a very non confrontational person so i obliged, until one day i got sick of it, and i told her something along the lines of “i notice that you’re only texting me to ask for favors, you don’t even want to hang out or see how i’m doing so i don’t think we should be friends anymore” and to that…she replied “i’m so glad you brought that up because you upset me a long time ago, whenever you got me that job, on my first day i said hi to you and you didn’t say hi back to me” and i was kind of shocked..i didn’t even know what to say so i just said “i’m sorry for hurting your feelings when that was never my intention, i honestly don’t remember why i didn’t say hi back to you, but i really am sorry for how it made you feel. i thought that because you didn’t say anything regarding that situation and because we still hung out occasionally that everything was okay.”…she was not Happy with my answer. she said she didn’t understand how i “accidentally” or “not purposely” ignored her saying hi to me that first day. i was firm on that i didn’t ignore her on purpose, i told her if i really wanted to ignore her, then i wouldn’t have bothered texting her constantly or doing favors for her. she wouldn’t see my side of the story and still claims i’m the one in the wrong for ignoring her first day at our job. i’ve been thinking about rekindling our friendship so i wonder, AIW HERE??

So I just recently moved from Europe to North America. And I new I wanted to change my lifestyle here and just loose some weight (I mean I knew that I won't reach my goal until I'm going back but at least do the best I can, and especially not gaining more). And I thought I would share some thing that have changed for me so far, and what I'm doing to loose weight.
Moving helped me a lot in loosing weight. Due to the different food regulations over here I got sick a lot in the first two months and therefore I ate very little and lost a lot already. But now i finally settled and feel at home here and can finally eat properly again. One thing I took out of the last months, is how important it is to kind of shrink your stomach. Kind of like a bariatric surgery just the natural version. With eating very little the stomach gets smaller and therefore now I can't even eat as much as I used to eat.
Another big thing for me is that I really adjusted my "meal plan" to my work day and just finding a way that works for me . I don't really feel like eating in the morning and also I try to avoid eating late, as I don't really like the feeling of going to bed with a full tummy. Therefore I decided to do OMAD from now on. I prep my lunch in the evening or on the weekend (I usually prep for 2-5 days, I make one meal and just see in the end for how many days it lasts. That way i feel like I'm a bit more flexible as I sometimes don't like eating the same thing over and over and also it takes less time for me to decide what to cook). Why OMAD? I don't have to count calories, i only weight things like potatoes, rice or noodles, that way I can kind of eastimate to stay below 1500 cals. And it's just the easiest for me to fit in my schedule. But I know if I would be working in a different place it would be different. (At home I would have a small dinner but here it takes me over an hour to get home from work, so by the time I'm home I feel like it's to late for me to eat. Back in Europe it was just a 5 min Bike Ride to get home, therefore I had a lot more time actually cooking, and I didn't had to bring food to work, as we had 2 different cafeterias around.)
The other thing that I like about OMAD, I don't really have to worry about special occasions. If I plan to go out for dinner with friends, that would just toun out to be my OMAD instead of lunch. And even if it's something like my birthday, I'll take a break for a day and then maybe fast a few days later.
Fasting is a nother thing for me. Right now I usually fast about one day a week, mostly on the weekend but sometimes also during the week, depending on my schedule at work. There's no specific reason for that, but I feel good, my skin is better and especially on the weekend if I'm having a lazy day, I don't really need to eat.
And maybe the most interesting thing: how I stopped binging. Since I was little it was always a problem that my dad would eat a lot and sometimes kind of take away the food that was ment for us kids. That kind of got me into an ED, I would often feel like needing to finish fast to get enough, trying to hide special food from him... Although I don't live with my parents for 5 years now, I'm still struggling to share my food sometimes and I would binge a lot, especially on chocolate bars and chips. But over the last month I kind of had a realisation and so now this one though is keeping me from binging (or overeating in general) "The food doesn't 'run away', I'm always able to eat it in the next days but I'm not able to eliminate the calories I've already eaten." Right now, writing this down, it feels silly that such a little sentence is kind of the key to my lifestyle change right now. But it is, and it feels good. I didn't really binged at all in the last month.
In general, with all of this, I'm kinda trying to eat less without actually restricting myself and it's kind of going with the flow, making it more of a changing my mind instead of "dieting". I hope this maybe helps at least one person out there ❣️

Its been incredibly lonely since my wife and I split. It was a difficult decision but the best choice for both of us. Most of my friends have either started their own families or moved away. I'm just looking for people to chat with. I'm not necessarily looking for other divorcees, but I'd love to chat and provide some comfort to others In my situation. My car was stolen from outside my apartment today between 6 and 7 PM. I was home at the time and so were a lot of my neighbors. All keys are accounted for, I own it outright, and it was parked legally so I have no reason to think it was towed for any reason. I didn’t have anything of value in the car but I’m kicking myself for not having better insurance that covers theft. If it isn’t recovered I’m SOL.
Let this be a warning to other cheap people like me. Just because you don’t drive often doesn’t mean you can get away with minimum coverage. Assholes can travel to areas that look safe and steal the car without you doing anything wrong.

On short notice, I don’t have my village anymore. I work 4:30pm-1am at night on phone calls at home. My partner works a very flexible remote job with some in person meetings once a quarter - he’s usually done by 2pm. My son has daycare 3 days a week, I’m switching to a closer daycare to us since this one is 20 minutes one way. We might be considering full time daycare now but do need tips for the next three weeks at least. My son’s dad takes him Sunday-Tuesday every other week.
How can we do this? His parents are retired and don’t do much so they will help my partner at night but I have to imagine it’s mainly limited to playing with him. With work, I have 30 minutes for lunch and 30 minutes that I can divide up how I want. I can likely eat before work or eat at my desk between calls/placing people on hold.
Is it worth switching to a 7:30pm -4 am schedule? I cannot work mornings, I would make $10k less if I did. For this week, my partner and I hired a nanny through backup care but we can’t afford her at full price + daycare.
Any advice?

Planning on buying a house and make that my primary home. Trying to decide on whether to sell or rent out the condo I currently own/live in. I have had the condo for ~10years, gains have been good going from $270k to $500k in value. Mortgage is low, would make $200-500/month profit if rented.
However, my concern is with the gains in value, they would get hit with cap gains taxes after 2 years if this place is no longer my primary home. Open to any ideas, but I'm thinking I have to sell? (this is all in Colorado)

I (F39) met my friend (m41) at university 20 years ago and the fact I still remember what he was wearing, i definitely had it bad for him right away. We never talked in class but ran into each other at the market one evening, where he later pulled up at the bus stop, pushed open the passenger side door, and told me to get in. Core memory. We became friends, and spent some time chatting and hanging out. Shopping, eating, chatting, usual stuff I can’t even really remember the details it’s been so long. I found out from a mutual friend he had a gf. And then later on, I had a boyfriend, but we would always chat and laugh and spend time together in our early 20s. He moved away for work, and we still kept in touch, he would tell me the girl he’s dating reminds him of me, and would always ask me to visit him, sometimes he would say he missed me and asked when I was visiting, in 3 countries he has asked and I regret never visiting as he’s lived in some cool places. Several times he was back home, he would try to see me, but I had also moved away. In 2013 I emailed him to say I had a dream about him, and he responded that, he thinks I’m in love with him but I just don’t know it yet. And I took this as my chance to say, I am love with him, I suppose in a joking way and asked what he was up to. And he responded that it sounds like I’m joking, but he hopes he’s wrong and I’m not. And then we proceed to catch up a bit, he was building his company, and I tell him that I thought he knew Ive been in love with him since day 1, To which he does not respond! So I tell him I’ve changed my mind, and if I were in love with him I would be sorely pissed. To which he does respond that he’s just going to have to cancel all the plans he’s made, goodbye hotel and driver and private jet. I said I wish I were visiting so I could punch him in the face and he said, me too, too bad. So I just thought, jerk!!!!!!
Over the years we still keep in touch here and there, he will like my posts, I will comment on all of his. In 2021 I designed this self portrait thing he said he loved and wanted to buy, I said I can just send it to him, and he said maybe I can post it to his parents, but that I should visit him when Covid was over and I said if I visited, would he show me around. And then no response! Last week I saw that I missed his message on IG saying he was in town, but it was from a month ago, and he was asking me to go for coffee. I def felt gutted over the whole missed connection. I told him I was sorry I missed his msg, and that I’ve moved to another city, and he should visit me. He said he would love to, and if I would show him around, maybe later this year or next. We chatted a bit, and some reason, I got in my feelings to tell him how much I would love to see him again. That I can’t really remember too much of what we did together, it’s bits of pieces in my memory, but it’s warm feelings. Meeting him in uni was such a special time and I really appreciate having met him. I haven’t been thinking of him for 20 years (I said that Cus I don’t want to sound like I’m insane!) but when I saw his msg, I was really excited, and then sad I missed a chance to see him. No response!
A long time ago, I asked him why nothing ever happened between us, he said he wouldn’t be a good bf, and his main focus is building his company and he prob won’t get serious til his 40s so I shouldn’t wait for him. He’s very successful now, and has been working non stop, and I guess this recent missed meeting has me revisiting these feelings. I obviously like him as a person, I can’t understand why he would double down on joking that I was in love with him, it seems he wants to see me again, but it’s never a solid plan.
Part of me feels that because we’re not good friends anymore, he’s living in that fantasy realm because we don’t chat enough for him to annoy me with something. Or also, he’s my only male friend that I like and also find attractive, so it’s an unfinished dynamic. I feel a bit foolish, or human, but only for a second because at this point I know if I ever were to scare away a person by being myself, it’s not meant to be in any form of friendship or relationship. I feel culturally we are different, maybe that we never got to explore something in our youth, it puts it in a “what if” state? I know after some time I will be fine, but everytime I connect with him, I go down memory lane. I’m a very sentimental person, and maybe he isn’t, so I’m taking it way more seriously, can anyone relate to what I’m feeling?

I’ve been selling on poshmark for 5 years now as a pretty casual seller (everything is from my closet and I average making $700 a year). A couple years ago I started cross listing on mercari and have only made a few sales since then. I have about 250 active listings that I want to get rid of to make more room in my closet. I’ve been kinda pulling back from poshmark with them focusing more on professional poshers who spend all day doing live shows, and looking for another site to cross list. I’ve heard the most about depop and vinted, but have heard depop is more trendy gen z style clothes where I’m a millennial selling things from 2013-2018 era, so I feel I wouldn’t sell much on that site. Has anyone used vinted? How does it compare to sites like poshmark or mercari and how well do things sell there?

My roommate wants to move back in with her parents. I reluctantly agreed to let her friend move in to replace her. Our complex doesn’t allow subletting so she asked the landlord if we could add the friend as a third person who would pay my roommates half of rent while roommate lives at home, making current roommate a guarantor of sorts. We do not plan to renew the lease because the new management company has been shady with finances and all around terrible.
The problem is that when the complex sent over the new lease with the third tenant, they changed the prorated rent. Originally the lease said “prorated rent of $99 is due for the remainder of first month on July 31st 2022” the new lease increased that number to $3081 due. Now, we already paid for that month so I asked the landlord to strike that line, change the wording, or change the number to zero. It’s most likely a typo or a system thing but they refuse to change it or clarify in a lease addendum.
They now say that if I do not sign the new lease by Wednesday, we are in violation of the original lease. The landlord never got my written consent to change the lease and when my roommate first brought up moving out and mentioned she talked to the landlord without asking me, I immediately emailed them saying that they need my written consent to change the lease. (This is also in the original lease)
Can the landlord actually change my lease/fine me for not signing a lease I did not yet agree to? Only my roommate and her replacement signed it and this was after I voiced my concerns to her. My understanding is that my original lease agreement is still valid until I sign the new one.

This is for home use with my fleet of $5 Cisco 79XX phones, which work great with FreePBX in SIP mode. When an outside call comes in on the trunk all the Ciscos ring as they're on the same ring group, then let's say Person A picks up a phone and they start talking. Imagine Person A wants Person B to join in on the call.
With a traditional single-line phone system there is no concept of extensions and everyone's on the same loop, thus Person B can just pick up any phone and start talking while Person A can hang up.
Currently with FreePBX if Person A wants to invite Person B they will transfer the outside caller into a conference room, then page Person B and have them join the conference room. Then Person A can hang up or remain in the room. A 3-way conference call initiated on the Cisco (which isn't possible anyways as that requires the Cisco server and the phones can't do it themselves) won't work as Person A can't hang up. Meanwhile a direct transfer means Person A can't stay in the call as they'll get kicked out. Having extensions and a full PBX has lots of advantages and everyone is happy, but having to use a conference room every time gets a bit annoying.
SLA doesn't really work with Asterisk, so I'm stuck with the conference rooms for now. Is there a more creative option to handle this case?
