2023.06.08 20:58 Steamu90 What are your off-season trades and moves predictions ?

Apparently Oilers might want trade Cody Ceci for picks to get more cap space. He would be an improvement for us, stays healthy, playes big minutes and is solid. Not the best but solid RD. Only 3.25m and in 2 years UFA. For center, we could try to get Mark Seiffel if he wants to come here. Not sure if Bemström+Peeke would be enough? Pegs are going for a full rebuild Also not sure if he wants to come here, Mark and Laine had a good relationship, the problem was Wheeler.

2023.06.08 20:39 Raetian Proficiency Class Pack - Let's Talk About Builds #6: the Tech Specialist, my beloved, my precious

We return today to the PCP for the latest entry in our series of build discussions: this time, we’re talking about the Tech Specialist! This is the last post in our initial six-part series discussing the Proficiency Class Pack, but not the end of the project. Next, I plan to move alphabetically through the redesigned Proficiency Hero classes, and then perhaps on to some plugin class options from other mod authors. First on the docket will be the Reaper. But for now, back on topic!
At Squaddie rank, all Tech Specialists (hereafter TechSpec) receive the following perks:
Protocol Packages (PROFICIENCY) - Soldier gains the “ABC” Protocol ability suite: Aid Protocol (deploys a small smoke cloud on the targeted ally), Blinding Protocol (deploys a miniaturized flashbang at the targeted enemy), and Combat Protocol (deals a guaranteed 2 damage to the targeted enemy, dealing double damage to robotic targets). The ABC Protocols work on a system of initial charges, usable upfront in a mission with a 1-turn cooldown, and a subsequent recharge time after which a Protocol may be used again. Note that the 1-turn cooldown is shared by all ABC Protocols, so only one can be used per turn, even if the TechSpec gains an extra action after using it.
At Proficiency level 1, the ABC Protocols are each turn-ending and have 1 initial charge and a recharge time of 5 turns. At level 2, the TechSpec additionally gains the Haywire Protocol (hack a robotic enemy to shut them down or seize control for 3 turns) and Repair Protocol (heal a mechanical ally for 3/5/7 HP depending on GREMLIN tech tier) abilities, and all GREMLIN protocols are no longer turn-ending; at level 3, ABC Protocols gain +1 initial charge (for a total of 2), and their recharge time is reduced by 1 turn (down to 4 from 5).
Hack - Soldier may remotely hack into ADVENT network access points, as with the basegame Specialist.
Failsafe - As an action, soldier may nullify any negative consequences of a failed hack which they would afterward have triggered this turn. Failsafe also grants a temporary +15 bonus to the soldier’s hack stat until the start of their next turn.
Rank Perk 1 Perk 2 Perk 3
CPL Adaptive Alloy Plating: Soldier gains +1 point of regenerating standard armor. This armor will only regenerate after all other sources of armor have been removed, and activates at the start of the XCOM turn. Low Profile: Partial cover gives as much defense as full cover for this soldier. Note that Low Profile does NOT make low cover count as full cover for the purpose of activating other abilities (such as Entrenched). Electronic Surveillance: Soldier gains +1 free battle scanner charge and +1 bonus charge to equipped battle scanners.
SGT Overload: Soldier’s Combat Protocol ability now deals +200% damage to robotic enemies, up from +100%, and +1 additional base damage to organic targets. Combat Protocol’s recharge time is increased by 2 turns (up to 7). Extended Signal Range: Soldier’s GREMLIN protocols and equipped Sniper Rifles may now be used at squadsight ranges. Note that objectives and terminal objects cannot be hacked from squadsight. Silent Motors: Soldier remains concealed when the squad breaks concealment, and ABC Protocols do not break their individual concealment. Soldier’s detection radius is reduced by -20%, but this radius increases cumulatively by +20% for each ABC Protocol activated. All such penalties are reset at mission’s end or if the soldier loses concealment, meaning if they regain concealment they start over with no penalty.
LT Disruption Field: Free action. Soldier may activate this field to gain +15% defense and guarantee any reaction shots against them while the field is active will miss until the beginning of the next XCOM turn. Breaks squad and individual concealment. 3-turn cooldown. Neutralizing Agents: Soldier’s Aid Protocol ability gains +1 tile radius and now cleanses all allies in the initial AOE of any active Acid, Burning, or Poison effects. These allies are also granted 1 turn of immunity to these effects, such that they can move to safety without re-inflicting the effect on themselves. EMP Shockwave: Soldier’s Combat Protocol ability now completely strips any active shields from any mechanical or organic target. Against mechanical targets only, it now also reduces hack defense by -15 and has a 20% chance to inflict a 1-turn shutdown.
CPT Anti-Armor Doctrine: Soldier gains the Shredder perk, shredding 1/2/3 points of armor with their primary weapon depending on weapon tier, and an additional +30% chance to crit against mechanical targets. Targeting Uplink: Soldier may use an action to grant a mechanical ally squadsight, negate 50% of all their range penalties to aim, and boost their crit chance by +10% per GREMLIN tier for one turn. This action is turn-ending, and may also be used on hacked enemies which are temporarily under XCOM control. 1-turn cooldown. Electronic Warfare: Soldier gains a permanent stat bonus of +10 hacking. In addition, the first activation of Failsafe within a mission is now a free action, and mechanical enemies lose one action on the turn they recover from a shutdown or controlling hack.
MAJ Marauder: Soldier’s standard shots are no longer turn-ending. Note that equipped Sniper Rifles derive almost no practical benefit from this perk, as they still cost two actions to fire. Restorative Repair: Soldier gains +1 additional charge of Repair Protocol. In addition, Repair Protocol now restores +1 point of shredded armor and extends the control effect on a hacked mechanical target by an extra turn. Psionic Feedback: Soldier’s Blinding Protocol ability now has a 10% base chance to panic affected targets. Basic ADVENT units gain +10% additional chance to panic; psionic enemies gain +20% chance. Based on GREMLIN tech level, this chance is further multiplied by 1/2/2.5, but the final chance is cut in half against unactivated enemies.
COL Miniaturized Munitions: Soldier gains the ability to equip a Heavy Weapon, regardless of armor worn. Equipped Heavy Weapons gain +1 bonus charge, but deal only 70% damage. Advanced Robotics: Soldier’s ABC Protocols gain +1 initial charge (for a total of 3) and recharge 1 turn faster. The shared 1-turn cooldown on ABC Protocols is removed, allowing two protocols to be activated per turn, though each individual protocol is still limited to once per turn. Full Override: Soldier gains a new GREMLIN protocol with 1 charge that shares a 3-turn cooldown with Haywire Protocol. If a mechanical enemy is successfully hacked by this new protocol, it may either come permanently under XCOM control for the remainder of the mission or simply self-destruct. Note that if the override fails, the charge is not deducted - but the cooldown is still triggered.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
  1. Obviously, what perks do you select, and what perks, if any, do you prioritize picking up in the Training Center later to augment the build?
  2. What gear do you equip this soldier with?
  3. What squad size do you play with, and what role or synergy does this soldier occupy within that squad?
  4. If using Not Created Equal or something similar, what rookie stats do you look for in an ideal candidate?
  5. Are there any additional mods you use that influence the way you build and/or play with this soldier?

And the porkies deserved the lack of lubrication.
The rest of the series can be found here.
***
The shuttle bug let out a long gurgling fart into the passenger compartment (ironically where farts usually go).
“Making food was a weapon?” GuruG asked incredulously, unintentionally translating the shuttle bug’s question as well.
“Worse,” Alan replied. “You gentle and enlightened beings probably aren’t as intrinsically tied to supply and demand as the rest of us. You do know that scarcity is a large factor when the value of something is determined. When that something is a commodity that is essential for life, this principle is even more keenly felt. With the development of Jovian rice, a completely synthetic foodstuff, Zeus Industries was once again the richest organization in the solar system… and the most powerful.”
“Powerful?”
“They now had an essentially infinite amount of food. Of course, being the goody-two-shoes bitch that he was,” Alan smirked, “Tak Nakamura started just handing that garbage out to anyone and everyone and had the ships to do so. Overnight, fully laden gas miners with escorts started making regular runs to Terra, Luna, Mars, and the rest of the inner solar system. That food could have been used to establish order and stabilize civilization. Instead, he just started dumping it on all of the thousands of factions warring with each other. This did have the immediate result of establishing some sort of ‘peace,’ but it was inherently flawed.”
“It also had the entire inner solar system kissing his ass,” Grace added.
“Well put,” Alan agreed, “The flow of food from Zeus had the whole of the inner solar system utterly dependent upon him, and the promise of food security even had some of our allies negotiating their defections to his banner.”
“So why didn’t this Jessica Morgan do the same?” GuruG asked, “For that matter, why didn’t your Same?”
“We couldn’t,” Grace laughed, “Think about it. We were the ‘bad guys.’ We had been kicking the shit out of everyone for years. There was no way they would let us into their buffet.”
“And with the food finally flowing again,” Alan said, “The dynamics of the situation shifted. Our siege of the inner solar system had been broken. Of course, we still had the men and the weapons. Or raids continued, but now they only had the effect of inflicting casualties, not starvation.”
“Your Sames kind of sucked,” GuruG said. “You are aware of this, correct?”
“Dude,” Grace laughed, “You have no idea.”
“The food was power,” Alan said, “And whoever controlled that food source controlled the solar system. We had to act. Our first move was a diplomatic one. Jessica Morgan offered an alliance with Zeus Industries, including a quite reasonable plan for governance and reconstruction.”
“And Tak told us to get fucked,” Grace snerked.
“And in about as many words,” Alan chuckled. “He told us, and perhaps accurately so, that nobody would accept us and that the best we could hope for was exile among the Kuipers… Considering what happened next, perhaps we should have taken that deal.”
“What happened?” GuruG (and the entire solar system) asked excitedly.
“War,” Alan said grimly. “Unconditional war, the greatest one in human history. Until now, Jessica had held back. She wanted to preserve as much of her forces and her supplies as possible. Now, that was no longer an option. We collected the full might of our houses and launched a full-bore attack on the inner solar system with the purpose of wiping out all vulnerable settlements and blockading Zeus. Their gas miners could run the blockade, but that’s where they took most of their losses. We never destroyed one, but we took a decent number of them out of action, enough to cause Zeus to drastically reduce food shipments. In addition, she finally unleashed her actual military forces and the remainder of her combat fleet. The actual Sol Wars had finally begun. And it was ugly. No quarter was given or received. Both sides descended into true savagery.”
“As opposed to everything you have already described?” GuruG asked incredulously.
“Yep,” Grace replied, “That was just the opening act for the real show.”
“There were two sides to the fight,” Alan said, “You had thousands of small groups of people rallying behind the banner of Zeus Industries, and you had the Confederacy of Sol, the remaining raider gangs, now quite large, and Jessica Morgan herself… I guess you could add Mars as a third side, but they did what they always did, hunker down behind their blockade of armed merchantmen and watched us kill each other while they feasted on bugs and fresh produce, the assholes.”
“They aren’t our favorite people,” Grace sneered, “And they are terrible in bed, like really bad.”
“I dislike an unpleasant bedmate as well,” GuruG said, “We often live together, and an inconsiderate roommate or even worse, bedmate, can be…”
“It’s a euphemism for being bad at sex,” Alan said. “Grace is also intentionally ‘needling’ me since she cannot elaborate further concerning this at this time.”
“Is this because of jealousy?” GuruG asked. “We have seen on the othernet that this can be an issue.”
“Not at all,” Alan said, “We were not betrothed at birth, nor were we exclusive for a great deal of our relationship. I’m just extremely curious concerning the details of this particular ‘dis-Grace.’ I’d be more than a little put out if she, as we put it, ‘fucked around’ at this point in our relationship, though.”
“So, she could have other partners then, but not now?”
“Goddamn right!” Grace exclaimed. “I’ll give Alan and whatever slag he screws a Dragon high colonic if I catch them. You don’t want one of those.”
“I can assure you that you will never catch me, darling,” Alan smirked.
“Don’t make me unstick myself,” Grace laughed as she pulled an arm free from the adhesive embrace of the shuttle bug’s colon and swatted him on the leg.
A rumbling roar shook the chamber for several seconds.
“That was our final retrograde burn,” GrurG said. “We will be entering the atmosphere soon.”
“Lovely,” Grace said dubiously.
“We still do have some time, though,” GuruG said hopefully.
“We’re approaching the end of the story,” Alan said. “War raged for several years laying waste to millions of people and hundreds of space stations and ships that had somehow managed to survive everything else. However, station by blasted station, inch by bloody inch, we were winning. While outnumbered, we still outgunned our enemies and the skill and experience of our warriors outshone theirs by many orders of magnitude.”
“And then everything went to shit,” Grace said.
“How?” GuruG asked. “You still had the advantage.”
“Had, dear GuruG,” Alan replied, “The operative word there is had. Zeus was desperate for weapons but as we have said, they lost the supply chains needed to make our weapons. Then someone decided to look back in history to the last global conflict in our people’s history, World War Three.”
“Wait. Do you mean your people have done something like this before?!?”
“Oh yeah,” Grace grinned, “Plenty of times. We hadn’t had a big one for almost a thousand years, but we did have some ugly ones. The ugliest before the Sol Wars was World War Three. Over a billion people bit the big one during that.”
“And that war was fought with much more primitive weapons,” Alan said, “The weapons of that era were little more than metal tubes in which a fast burning propellent, first gunpowder and then nitrocellulose was ignited, and the pressure accelerated a dense metal projectile, usually lead, to high velocities.”
“I know these!” GuruG said happily. “Flash roots! We still use them!”
“Of course, you would,” Alan chuckled.
“We use them for hunting… and for messing about. We make these geometric patterns on thin membranes and try to hit the center! It’s great fun.”
“They are also great for hunting people!” Grace enthused.
“They… would be…” GuruG said reluctantly, as if it was something that had never occurred to him before.
“But you use something else for that, right?” Grace asked.
“…Yes?”
“Same here,” Grace said, “And we were using ‘something else’. But I bet that it’s a lot easier to make(?) flash roots isn’t it?”
“Significantly so,” GuruG said. “We just grow them. And what we fire them out of…”
GuruG trailed off.
“Are simple devices easily made from iron alloys?” Alan asked.
“Yes. We usually use cupric alloys but yes, you could easily make them from iron.”
“Which is very abundant in any solar system, and as far as the propellent goes, they had an entire gas giant to mine for chemicals,” Alan continued, “Nobody except for primitive hunters, enthusiasts, and historical reenactors used them then, and they mostly preferred even more primitive examples than what was used for warfare at the end of our first gunpowder era. Not knowing exactly what one to use the Terrans just picked a popular one that would be easy to make, a weapon known as the AK-47. They were very simple to make. Any ship had the ability to make them. Hell, you can even make them by hand if you want. And Zeus had… has truly titanic industrial capacity. Once they made the first working prototypes, they were able to make them by the millions and the bullets by the billions. Soon, they were handing them out the same way they were handing out food… and that was the beginning of the end for us. We had better weapons and better warriors, but we didn’t have the means to replenish either. For every one of our soldiers that fell, we lost years of training, maybe even a lifetime of it, and weapons that were truly irreplaceable. When one of their fighters fell, another hundred took their place. Every ‘soft target’ we used to raid suddenly had people all armed with primitive, but very effective weapons. Our numbers fell and theirs increased by the thousands every single day.”
“And that wasn’t the worst part,” Grace said. “The ancient rifles were a big hit. So why not look at the rest of the goodies from that era? They started making guns big ones as well as guided missiles more than capable of taking down any ship we had and started putting those motherfuckers on everything.”
“A tactic they use to this very day,” Alan said. “Every one of their ‘civilian’ merchant fleet can turn into a missile boat within an hour. They’ve used this to very good effect. Attacking anywhere in the Republic, especially Sol, is a death sentence.”
“We had some brilliant military leaders,” Grace said, “But they had General Attrition leading them and he is a bitch.”
“The dynamic shifted,” Alan said grimly. “Even though they would lose a hundred fighters to each one of ours, they still would win. If they lost ten fighters to each one of ours, they would call it a tactical triumph. We literally could not win. So, once again, inch by bloody inch, they took the system back. And they weren’t taking prisoners. At first, they would board a ship or a station and take it. After a while, they just used missiles and wiped us out by the thousands, by the hundreds of thousands.”
“And not all of them were combatants,” Grace said sourly. “They didn’t care. Then again we didn’t care either, so I guess we had it comin’.”
“Even we have to admit this,” Alan said ruefully, “We definitely reaped what we sowed. We would have been completely wiped out as a people if it wasn’t for the intervention of the Juon Empire.”
“How did they get involved?”
“There is a very old red dwarf near Sol that we call Bernard’s Star,” Alan said. “It’s old enough to be of scientific interest, and the Juon sent a scientific expedition to it. It was close enough to where the instruments and scanners they brought to study the star were sufficient to detect radio transmissions from Sol. Their first reaction was to not get involved. We were a bit farther out than they wanted to expand and the situation was far too chaotic. There were tentative plans to establish contact once things settled down, but they never did. Ultimately, they decided that if they wanted to establish contact with our species, they had better do so while there was a species left to contact.”
“So they rolled in,” Grace said, “With real warships. They also brought ship after ship filled with good food, supplies, consumer goods… you know, the whole beads and blankets thing.”
“Beads and blankets?”
“Yeah, you didn’t have colonialism either,” Grace replied, “Cheap presents for savages. For a few loads of cheap crap, they were able to basically buy the Terrans. They are kind of whores like that.”
“Now whores we have!”
“You have to get me a video!” Grace exclaimed. “Anyway, the Empire showed up and annexed the system without so much as a single shot being fired. They tried to broker a peace, but when they realized that they couldn’t even get us in the same room without us trying to kill each other they split us up. They sent us into the cold dark of the outer solar system and gave the Terrans all the good spots.”
“Which they had already won,” Alan added.
“Whatever,” Grace huffed. “So that’s how it was for a few decades…”
“Thirty-four years.”
“Whatever! Jesus!” Grace snapped, “That’s how it was. We were stuck on these big stations that were basically prisons where we got fed scraps and were just left to rot.”
“We were actually treated very…”
“Goddamit, Alan…” Grace grumbled, “Anyway, we were stuck out there for thirty-four years until the Terrans decided they didn’t want to be in the Empire anymore and rebelled. We knew the second they stopped shooting at the Juon, they would come for us, so we got the fuck out of there and went to the Federation.”
“And we formed one of the three major populations of humanity,” Alan said. “Where everything was pretty good until…”
A rumbling started to shake the entire shuttle bug.
“We are starting the re-entry process,” GuruG said. “Sonic communication will soon be impossible. The rest of your story will have to wait.”
“Meh,” Grace shrugged, “We’re pretty much done, anyway.”

2023 Ford F-150 price and specs

https://preview.redd.it/jps573afqc3b1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=f305e7736e036acda22864f4e62e1fa7e6e44135
The locally remanufactured Ford F-150 is priced from $106,950 before on-road costs. It'll arrive in the third quarter of 2023

Orders for the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado-rivalling Ford F-150 pickup have now opened ahead of first arrivals in the third quarter of this year.

The F-150 range starts at $106,950 before on-road costs for the XLT SWB in Australia, and extends to $140,945 before on-roads for the Lariat LWB.

The first batch of vehicles set to be remanufactured from left- to right-hand drive is now on a boat to Australia from Dearborn, Michigan.

The F-150 will be remanufactured to right-hand drive by RMA Automotive at a facility in Mickleham, Victoria – unlike the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado, which are imported (by Ateco and GMSV, respectively) and remanufactured in right-hand drive by Walkinshaw in Clayton, Victoria.

Two trim levels will be offered in the F-150 locally, both of which can be had in either short- (3683mm) or long-wheelbase (3987mm) guise. Regardless of which length you opt for, the F-150 will feature a two-row crew cab in Australia.

Unlike its American pickup rivals with their V8 engines, the F-150 will be powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The EcoBoost engine makes 298kW of power and 678Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels through a four-wheel drive system

With a braked towing capacity of 4500kg, the F-150 matches the Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500 when it comes to claimed heavy hauling ability.

The car will be backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, and will be sold and serviced through the Ford Australia dealer network.

Ford Australia is aware of the F-150 Hybrid, Raptor, V8, and electric Lightning options. It hasn’t ruled out bringing them Down Under, but only once the remanufacturing process is established and demand for the EcoBoost has been proven.

Pricing
2023 Ford F-150 XLT SWB: $106,950
2023 Ford F-150 XLT LWB: $107,945
2023 Ford F-150 Lariat SWB: $139,950
2023 Ford F-150 Lariat LWB: $140,945

Powertrain
The entire 2023 Ford F-150 range is powered by a 3.5-litre ‘EcoBoost’ twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 298kW of power and 678Nm of torque.

This is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through a four-wheel drive system.

The XLT variants have a part-time four-wheel drive system with 2H, 4H, and 4L modes, whereas the Lariat variants have a full-time four-wheel drive system with a 4A mode.

This V6 EcoBoost petrol engine uses a pair of injectors per cylinder along with twin-intercooled turbochargers that’s claimed to minimise lag.

Efficiency
Ford Australia hasn’t detailed fuel economy figures for the local F-150 range.

In the US the F-150 variants with the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 and engine idle stop-start are claimed to consume 20 miles per gallon (mpg) according to EPA combined cycle testing. This equates to 11.8L/100km.

It’s unclear at this stage if the remanufactured, right-hand drive F-150s sold locally will have engine idle stop-start, nor what the fuel tank size will be. In the US it’s available with either a 98L tank as standard and a 136L long-range tank as an option.

Dimensions
The 2023 Ford F-150 range is available exclusive in four-door Crew Cab guise with either a short-wheelbase (SWB) or long-wheelbase (LWB) body styles.

The F-150 SWB has a wheelbase of 3683mm with a 1676mm styleside tub, whereas the F-150 LWB has a 304mm longer wheelbase at 3987mm long with a 1981mm styleside tub.

All F-150 models have a braked towing capacity of 4500kg. Payload capacities remain unclear at this point.

Servicing and Warranty
The Ford F-150 is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty like the rest of the Australian lineup.

Ford Australia hasn’t detailed service intervals or pricing as of yet.

Safety
The Ford F-150 hasn’t been tested by Australian crash testing authority ANCAP yet, so for now it remains unrated.

In the US the F-150 was awarded a five-star safety rating according to testing conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The 2023 Ford F-150 comes standard with the following safety features:

Six airbags
Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)
Blind-spot monitoring with trailer tow coverage
Rear cross-traffic alert
Lane-keep assist
Driver alert system
Cruise control

The Lariat adds:

Intersection assist
Lane centring
Evasive steering assist
Adaptive cruise control with stop/go
Speed sign recognition

2023.06.08 20:26 play987654321 Cheap and easy process-based art projects for children in the summer

Reggio Emilia is a pedagogical philosophy invented by Italian communist and constructivist, Loris Malaguzzi, after WW2. Small Italian towns were given grant money to help rebuild, and Malaguzzi and the Italian families of Reggio Emilia, Italy, used the money to create cooperative, play-based nurseries and childcare centers. The Reggio approach emphasizes child-directed learning, and the art projects I will outline have no right or wrong answers, but are instead meant for children to pursue socially in order to help foster the development of their imaginations and fine motor skills.
You can find really good materials for these projects on your local buy nothing pages, Craigslist’s free section, or in thrift stores.
Here’s just a few projects that are really fun for kids:
Chalk, rubber mallets, water, and paint brushes Give the children chalk outside and let them draw whatever. Then, provide them with rubber mallets to pound the chalk. For older children, you can have them pound the chalk in muffin tins if you want. They will love destroying the chalk. Then, give them squeeze bottles filled with water, or if they’re 6+ you can give them spray bottles. They can then spray the chalk powder to create a paint. Offering them paintbrushes, they can spread the liquid chalk out everywhere, or you can also find them a weird branch or piece of driftwood to paint.
Painting: white tarp, paint, toilet brushes, fly swatters, mittens. Tape or weigh down a large, white piece of plastic. Squirt a color of paint on the tarp, and have the kids paint using different implements one by one as you add more colors: fly swatters, toilet brushes, sponges, mittens, fingers, and toes.
You can also put cotton balls on the tarp and have the kids squirt paint onto the cotton balls and then hit the cotton balls with rubber hammers.
Puffy paint Kids can make their own puffy paint by mixing shaving cream, paint, and glue together. You can then help them put that into an icing bag, which they can pipe onto a canvas, paper, or tarp. They can also pipe it into paper muffin liners. It will dry and look like cupcakes.
Model magic, feathers, and plastic dinos or animals Put out a clump of different colors of model magic or clay and ask the kids to cover the plastic toys and decorate them with feathers. Take pictures at the end of the creations and then remove the clay.
Clay Leave a big hunk of clay on a table with random materials— beads, feathers, pipe cleaners, rolling pins, rubber mallets, cookie cutters. Let them just make whatever.
There are also so many types of clays you can make, from fluffy play dough, to icing play dough, to quicksand play dough, and the kids can help you make them.
Glue Find a piece of furniture you don’t want anymore, like an old end table. Set it out with Elmer’s glue and a box of random stuff— corks, beads, feathers, string, the caps of dead markers, paper, etc. and let the kids just glue whatever to it.
Dye Get mason jars and pipettes and dye. Water down the dye, and put the pipettes in the jars. Put a tray with salt on the table. Have the kids paint using the pipettes and dyes, and experiment with sprinkling salt on it because it has a cool reaction.
Sensory tubs Using wood, build a large tub and seal it. Or, get a large, plastic container that stores clothes beneath a bed. You want it flat in the ground so kids can walk into it.
Dry sensory tub experiment A dry sensory tub can have sand, rice (which you can dye multiple colors), or beans. Put objects in the box, like thrifted silver cups and trays, shells, plastic animals, fake flowers, spoons, shovels. You can also put cardboard tubes and masking tape in so they can make chutes, or baking tins.
Wet sensory tub experiments With a wet sensory tub, you can use water and float frozen peas in it, or put water beads in it, or shaving cream, or cups of different water-downed dyes, or styrofoam beads dyed different colors, or homemade slime. In the wet tub, put pippettes, tongs, containers with lids, strawberry baskets, teapots, cups, straws, etc. You can also get fake snow, which is the non-toxic substance that is used to pad diapers. On day 2 of fake snow, let them dye it.

2023.06.08 20:05 elduderino260 Tear/squaredrop trailer vs trailer with rooftop tent?

My partner and I have been camping out of our Subaru Forester when we travel, primarily navigating decent to not-so-decent Forest Service roads in NM, but with the addition of a dog to the mix, I don't think that's going to be tenable moving forward. We're not looking for anything elaborate; we don't need a kitchen or bathroom. We are pretty much thinking a box on wheels that's somewhat insulated to extend our shoulder season camping, quick to set up, spacious enough for us to sit up in (not necessarily stand),and waterproof so we can sleep in it and store stuff while we're on the road. Ultimately, we'd like to get a truckbed camper when we get a new vehicle, but we're not looking to replace the Subie anytime soon. I was initially considering teardrop/squaredrop camper trailers (e.g., Hiker Trailers, Runaway Campers, Tiny Campers), but most of those are a bit out of our price range ($4000ish) new, and used market around me is very limiting. I had previously discounted rooftop tents because they seem to be a pain for dogs and didn't seem to offer much in the way of additional weather protection beyond a normal tent. However, in looking into them further, I am starting to reconsider. I've seen some nice examples of hardshell rooftop tents that would offer some more weather protection and faster setup than a normal tent, and putting it on a cheap trailer would bring down the cost (vs a teardrop) and still be relatively easy for a dog to get in and out. I'm also considering just putting on a truck cap on a utility trailer, which would probably be even cheaper, but maybe not as warm? However, I don't see these latter options all that often, so I'm wondering what people think or have experiences with? Or am I missing any other alternatives? Thanks!

2023.06.08 20:03 Affectionate-Pea-785 GLE tire pressure - good balance between "normal" and "max load"?

GLE350W4 2022
Fuel cap says: Cold tire pressure normal load 31 front 31 rear, cold tire pressure max load 38 front and 44 rear.
Questions:
  1. What's a good cold tire pressure to use, where it's high enough to be safe, low enough to be comfortable, and high enough to be safe for my normal usage (2 adults, 1 kid, a stroller) but also high enough to be safe for occasional higher usage (3 adults, 1 kid, a couple suitcases of luggage) during airport trips? 35/35? I don't want to have to change tire pressure for occasional airport trips, and I want max safety and comfort in the meantime, and minimal need to refill the tires.
  2. The tire pressure shown in the service menu on the wheel where it shows the 4 tires plus the temp of each, I assume that is the current live actual pressure, is that right?
  3. Is there any way to see most recent tire pressure from the Mercedes app, or does it just show whether the most recent tire pressure was close to the levels set for the TPMS?

2023.06.08 20:00 jamesbit Problem with Alloys

Hey all,
I have a slow puncture on one tyre, took it to my local repair centre and they jacked it up, on the inside of the wheel (the side that faces towards the centre of the car) theres air escaping where the tyre meets the alloy rim. Basically the finish of the alloy is starting to flake off and obviously stopping the tyre from sealing to the rim fully. They couldn't fix it and said I would need an alloy specialist.
I consider myself pretty competent with DIY but never done anything like this before, is it something I could tackle myself? I'm thinking if I take the wheel off, deflate the tyre enough to clear the rim, sand off the flaking finish, seal the rim with alloy lacquer, possibly use bead sealant? then re-inflate.
Does this sound like the way to go, or am I massively off?
Thanks for feedback.

2023.06.08 20:00 Nukedogger86 Force Feedback Help

Asking for some help from my fellow sim truckers with force feedback. I had a 4 month hiatus due to a flooded basement and now I'm trying to dial in my settings on my still very new wheel base. I have a Simagic Alpha Mini, and what I'm running into is that I can have one of two feelings. One which oscillates constantly but have a decent return to center; or I can eliminate the oscillating and have zero return to center and a relatively poor feeling.
Does anyone know what settings I can try with on a direct drive wheel to have the best of both worlds? What settings are you running that I may give a shot and see if it works?
I appreciate the help, and yes, I've looked thru the Simagic sub and Discord along with SCS's and Steam's forums. Thank you in advance.

2023.06.08 19:48 SandmanR82 Wheels/Rims stolen in FAIRFAX

Went to go grab packages from the office and saw this. Looks like one of my neighbors were targeted by the wheel thieves going around. This is over at the Ellipse near Govt center. Same type of crates as a bunch of the DC thefts. Hope the owner gets some justice.

2023.06.08 19:25 wicaw 2014 Malibu lever parking brake issue

A couple years ago when I knew even less about cars, we had some screeching brake issues and took the malibu (2014 LT 2.5L, automatic, 75K miles) in to Firestone to get it fixed. After a few repairs the screech went away but they wanted $700 to replace the parking brake cables and we decided just to leave it non-functional (guy said he'd "clip them out of the way"), and I never touched the parking brake handle (it's a lever not a pedal like every other malibu I can find videos on).
Now I'm getting into basic repairs and wanted to look at replacing the cables myself so I tried pulling the parking brake handle and it seems to operate fine (brake is applied), the issue is that when you release it, the parking brake lever on the caliper doesn't fully return to open (2mm from the stop) even though the spring is pulling on it, but I can manually just push it back to open with pretty minimal force. I'm also not 100% sure that this is an issue, the rotor seems to be rubbing the brake pad slightly at both slightly open and fully open...
Before I pull up the center console and potentially replace the cables, is there any chance the spring is just too rusty or something else obviously wrong? Or does this sound like cables need to be replaced or loosened or are catching somewhere? I didn't take any photos when I had the wheel off but could if it would help. Thanks!

2023.06.08 19:09 NeonAttak Darksiders 2 quickcast

Decided to play the series, which coincidentally happened at the same time of this subreddit replaying it, I only ever played 2 but that's a long time ago. Now I finished all achievements in Darksiders 1 and jumped straight into 2, but I feel like the combat spells feel janky.
I didn't mind using CAPS LOCK on PC in 1 because all I ever used was Stone Skin but in the second game everytime I want to summon ghouls or use teleport slash I have to pause the game with TAB to pull out the ability wheel and choose the spell manually, is there a way to bind the spells to some key?
If nothing I'd at least take DS1 way of casting spells by pressing CAPS LOCK and corresponding number but that doesn't do anything at all.

2023.06.08 19:03 De4thStalker Riding Balls of Fire (excerpt)

“This is crazy.” Souryuu grumbles under her breath.
She’s got one hand on the Delta S4’s wheel, the other on the shifter as she’s flooring it. The trail ahead, originally an outcrop of rocks, scrub and gravel is now a virtual sea of people, with spectators literally spilling over on to the track itself. There had been four cars in the starting queue: Akagi and Shoukaku’s comparatively sleek Lancia 037 at the start of the line, Souryuu and Hiryuu’s Lancia Delta S4 in second, along with an Audi Quattro in third, piloted by the Ironblood’s finest – Graf Zeppelin and Peter Strasser. The final car in the queue was a bright white Peugeot 205, with the Vichyan contingent consisting of Jean Bart and Foch.
Even with her focus fixed on the road ahead, Souryuu can see them waving, cheering, and even more disturbingly, some were reaching out as if trying to play tag with the Delta as it streaks by.
“Hard left, 30… unbelievable!” Even Hiryuu’s distracted by the spectacle – until an admonishment from Souryuu makes her look back down on the pace notes. Behind the wheel, Souryuu feels like she’s Moses parting the Red Sea at exactly 110 kilometers an hour as the crowd scatters like cockroaches under lights, just barely in time for the car to slide past.
Oh the irony, Souryuu thinks. Her fellow drivers, her sister and herself had spent the previous decades of their lives protecting humanity from the Sirens, yet now in this era where the factions of old have moved on from the Siren threat to fight each other on the track with gasoline, tires and clenched teeth instead of riggings, cannons and bombs, two of humanity’s finest are now trying their damnedest not to lose control of this pocket rocket of a rally car and plow into the humans lining the track.
Yet despite having spent years away from combat and sparring, her reflexes are sharp as ever, both arms crossed in full opposite lock as she swings the car around, missing an overly-intrepid spectator who leaps out of the way at the very last millisecond. Each rattle and bump is already unnerving enough, especially in a section as packed with people as this one. Souryuu chooses to ignore the bumping noises. Hopefully those are rocks she’s hitting and not something else entirely.
She grits her teeth, keeping her focus on the wheel. Her senses at this point are already sharper than the edge of the tanto dagger she often carried into combat in the old days alongside her katana, both now half a world away in Yokohama.
“Ah kuso!”
Souryuu hears a muffled thunk – a sign she’s clipped something as the Delta S4 straightens itself out. She takes a quick glance in the mirror, spotting a figure in the dust dropping to their knees to pick up the remains of something, most definitely a TV camera, attached to a now-snapped tripod, which undoubtedly left a big dent in the car’s composite bodywork, just out of view of both driver and co-driver
“Long, easy right. 50. Who the hell did we hit?” Hiryuu raises an eyebrow, glancing in the direction of the sound.
“Someone’s recording gear.” Souryuu deadpans.
Hiryuu can’t help breaking into an amused chuckle after as for a second, the mental image of a TV reporter struggling to recover something actually useable from what’s left of the tapes in their mangled camera flashes across her mind’s eye.
“Foolhardy bastard deserved that one.” And just as quickly, Hiryuu switches gears back into co-driver mode. “Straight, 500 then hard left, 200 after. Straight on to finish! Go! Go! Go!”
Out of the turns and into the final stretch, full throttle upon exit. Yet the sight of a car approaching at breakneck speeds while trailing ochre dust behind it does little to deter the people on the track with only inches of air seperating them from the speeding Delta S4.
“Oh kami, I can’t even see the finish…” Out of reflex, Souryuu flashes the car’s headlights, which does little to make the crowd scatter any faster – until the boards with chequered flags come into view suddenly. And then Souryuu goes through the motions of lifting off the gas then slow down to a crawl.
Souryuu and Hiryuu collectively draw in a deep breath, right as the car comes to a halt and then Souryuu flips the engine’s kill-switch.
Both sisters share a look of relief. Relief that the madness is over, for now. Souryuu shakes her head.
“That should never have been allowed to run.”
-
It’s nightfall when Souryuu visits the huge tent that served as a makeshift garage for the Lancia team.
Separated from both her Delta S4 and Akagi’s 037 by security tape and six feet of distance, Souryuu can only really watch the team mechanics swarm over both cars with spanners and mallets under the bright white glow of floodlights, pounding dented panels back into shape and dismantling the engines for rebuilding while the muffled popping and rattling of a generator resonates in the distance.
This isn’t the first instance where Souryuu’s final stage time has lagged behind that of Akagi’s yet it never fails to sting every time despite their 1-2 finish for the team. The close calls from earlier in the day, in the sea of people on the ending half of the stage only really serves to rub salt in the wound.
It’s a natural reaction to want to reflect on the events of that day, to think that just maybe if the track was clear, all those precious seconds wasted trying to avoid running people over would have kept her stage time above that of Akagi’s. And more importantly, she wouldn’t be feeling such an odd sense of anxiety, wondering just what kinds of horrors would have happened if she went just that little bit too fast or went just an inch too wide in the final turns.
But there’s little point in dwelling over what could have been or the various what-ifs, Souryuu tells herself. At least the fact that her team is still leading by points is comfort enough.
Just next to the Lancia tent is that of the Audi team’s. Mechanics are all over the front of Zeppelin and Strasser’s Quattro, hauling out its engine which was almost literally bleeding oil from half a dozen gaskets.
And as Souryuu passes the Peugeot tent, what catches her eye is the gruesome sight of a long, thin trail of blood running along the outside of the starboard intake behind the driver’s door. A mechanic is bent over the cooler at the end of the intake, shaking their head before removing something off the cooler face with gloved hands and placing whatever grisly thing it was into a black plastic bag.
Souryuu looks away. Brushing aside her curiosity, she makes her way to what passed as the ‘common area’ for drivers, which was pretty much a collection of crates and footlockers arranged around a lantern that lit up the immediate area in a pale yellow glow.
Someone thrusts an amber colored bottle into her hand with the cap already popped off. Souryuu looks up, right into the eyes of Hiryuu, who’s also got her own bottle, as did half the other drivers surrounding them. Souryuu’s never really liked beer but tonight she’ll make an exception. She needs a drink, as much as the others do, if not more.
No one raises their bottle, no one toasts. It’s just silence along with the distant sounds of ratchets and impact wrenches from the bigger tents. At least until one of the drivers speaks up.
“To think we went from protecting humanity just decades ago to threading the needle around these fools without running them over… there’s a reason I never wanted to join Rally de Portugal in the first place.” Akagi mutters, pinching the bridge of her nose as she’s grimacing. “We may be in the lead now but something will happen at some point. And it will not end well.”
“If only Lancia didn’t make us come. Portugal’s the last place I’d rather race at. Just… those people on the sides of the track and in the middle…”
The Sakuran contingent turns to look at Shoukaku with varying degrees of surprise as this is the first time in memory anyone’s actually seen and heard her agree with Akagi, of all people.
“Only the gods know how many people we came close to mowing down earlier today.” Souryuu is the next to speak up. “Today it was a TV camera. Tomorrow? Who knows.”
“Still better than taking someone’s fingers off…”
And now the spotlight is on Jean Bart. So that’s what the Peugeot team mechanics found…
“As we all know, the intake lips on our Peugeots are sharp as hell. Me and Foch, we were right in the middle of the track! We never went wide or short but they just kept trying to touch the car as we went past and that was it…” Jean Bart groans before downing her entire bottle in a few long chugs.
“Algerie’s brought this up with the bigwigs at Azur Lane and the FIA over and over yet they don’t seem to want to do anything about it.”
“Even if they wanted to, they can’t.” Souryuu sighs as she adjusts her glasses on the bridge of her nose. “With how long the stages are, crowd control is next to impossible.”
The memory of a police helicopter swooping down to buzz the spectators on another stage a few days earlier comes to mind. The fans had scattered – then promptly went back to spilling over on to the track once the helicopter retreated.
“If you all think Portugal is enough of a madhouse as it is, just wait till you get to Catalunya and Acropolis.” Graf Zeppelin chimes in next, punctuating her words with a derisive chuckle. “These people… to me and Strasser, they are bushes to us – only trees. If one thinks of them as people, one cannot drive. Not in Portugal, not in Acropolis and especially not in Catalunya. Though the madness does stop once you’re in Monte Carlo. San Remo and Corsica are especially smoother sailing from then on.”
“You’re awfully optimistic.” Akagi says, cutting in with a tone that pretty much dripped with sarcasm.
“I am just being pragmatic.” Zeppelin says with a shrug. “If you’ve been rallying for as long as I have…”

(Decided to carry on writing my motorsports AUs for Azur Lane and this is the result. Inspired by the Group B era of rallying in all of its sheer madness.)

Thought it was a Pluteus, maybe Pluteus Americanus, but there was no bruising. Found it directly on a decaying log in the woods. Solitary. Brown cap, dark in the center. Free, pink gills. White stem. Rusty brown spore print.

And without further ado, here are the players ranked 100-91 in the NFL Top 100 Players of the 2022 Season!

#100 - Garrett Wilson - New York Jets - Wide Receiver

Key Stat:
2nd Most missed forced tackles among WRs with 22
Written by: u/MattyT7
Garrett Wilson walked into the NFL as an immediate stud. He showed the world who he was in week 2, playing a major part in the destruction of the Cleveland Browns. Wilson caught two touchdowns, including what was the game-winner, to go along with 102 yards through the air. Despite having the worst quarterback play across the league last season, Wilson earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, and it is not hard to see why. He is a demon after the catch with the ball in his hands, consistently finding ways to squeeze as much extra juice as he can out of a play. His jab step/cutback is lethal; simply put, he is not easy to stop. He may have only caught 4 touchdowns all year, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that the Jets offense was… well, not great. Even so, Wilson finished his rookie campaign with 83 catches for 1104 yards. You may not have heard, but the Jets quietly brought in a new quarterback this offseason, and the sky is truly the limit for Wilson going forward. Although he may not be the most physically gifted wide receiver in the world, he’s an incredibly crafty dude and is already one of the best at what he does.

#99 - Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers - Quarterback

Previous Ranks

Key Stat:
2nd in the league in PFF's Big Time Throw Rate, trailing only Josh Allen
Written by: u/IMissHarambe878
A “down” year for ARod sees him slip to the bottom of the Top 100 here. His stats may have declined since his back-to-back MVPs, but Rodgers was consistently carrying this Green Bay team on his back this season. Despite carrying a broken thumb throughout the campaign (in which he didn’t miss a game), he helped try to steady the ship despite inconsistency across all other parts of the team (defense, run game, inexperienced wide receivers). He nearly dragged Green Bay kicking and screaming into the playoffs but was only stopped by a gutsy Lions team in Week 18 ready to play spoiler. Fun fact, Rodgers actually put up his career high in game winning drives this year with 4.

Here is a highlights package of Rodgers’ last season in Green Bay. Some specific highlights within the video:
- 1:01 – Rodgers shows he can still throw a pretty deep ball out to Watkins v Bears
- 3:29 – Deep throw v the Jets to Lazard, probably explains why he wanted him to follow him there
- 4:37 – Rolling out of the pocket to find Aaron Jones for a beautiful TD v Commanders
- 5:06 – Absolute dime to Doubs for a TD v Bills
- 7:30 – Beautiful play action out to Watson for a TD v Cowboys
- 13:05 – Sideline pass out to Mercedes Lewis v Dolphins
- 14:11 – Absolute monster of a ball out to Watson v Lions in his final game for Green Bay

All good things have to come to an end at some point, and this year showed Rodgers wasn’t the immortal some thought he was. Considering his supporting cast and the offense around him, I think he did the best he could. Don’t let that fool you though, he’s still very much an above average quarterback and I’m confident he will be higher up this list, this time next year. Take care of him, Jets, and thank you for all the memories, Aaron.

#98 - Jaelan Phillips - Miami Dolphins - EDGE Rusher

Previous Ranks
2021
N/A
Key Stat:
Phillips’s 70 pressures is the most by a Dolphin since Olivier Vernon in 2015
Written by: u/Yedic
Jaelan Phillips followed up a somewhat spotty rookie season with a much more polished sophomore campaign in 2022. He nearly doubled his pressure numbers, with an increase from 39 in 2021 to 70 in 2022 per PFF. He more than doubled his stops, jumping up from 16 to 36.
Check out this play, where Phillips, lined up at the top of the screen, uses his speed to beat the tackle upfield, and then works back down into the pocket for the strip sack in the 4th quarter of an important division game. Here's one where Jaelan Phillips lines up at 3t, against the LG, and then shows a nice motor to adjust for a 3rd down sack while fighting through a hold.
Phillips also showed off some impressive versatility. Per PFF's tracking, he dropped into coverage about six time a game, which resulted in the most coverage snaps out of all Edge Defenders nominated for this list, and 4th most of all Edge Defenders in the entire league. He even blocked a punt for good measure!

Once upon a time there was a slightly undersized Polynesian Safety from USC who played with wild abandon and a glorious main of hair, who ended up drafted in the 1st round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. His name was Troy Polamalu and as it turns out, he was one of the best to ever play the game at his position. Fast forward to 2021, and USC has another slightly undersized Polynesian Safety, named Talanoa Hufanga, who played with wild abandon and a slightly less glorious main of hair, who fell in the draft due to a poor combine showing and injury.
Snagged in the 5th round of the 2021 draft by the 49ers (praise be to Adam Peters), Hufanga played spot snaps on defense his rookie year as a rotational safety, while logging most of his playing time as a special teams gunner, with his most memorable play coming against the Packers in the NFC Divisional round, returning the blocked punt by Jordan Willis for a game tying touchdown. When Jimmie Ward suffered a moderate hamstring strain in the 2022 preseason, Hufanga capitalized on his opportunity, playing well enough to earn the starting S job when Ward came back, which in part led to Ward and the 49ers parting ways in FA.
During his 2022-23 sophomore campaign Hufanga ended up 3rd on the team/13th amongst all Safety's in tackles (97), 3rd on the team/6th amongst all Safety's in PD's (9), 2nd on the team/tied for 6th amongst all Safety's in INT's (4), including a pick-6 against Matt Stafford, and tied for 1st on the team/3rd amongst all Safety's in FF (2) EX. Despite being listed at only 6 foot 200lbs he plays significantly bigger and isn't afraid to lay wood or attack blockers in run defense. By far and away Hufanga's greatest asset is his raw instinctual play, his ability to diagnose and blow up plays based on pre snap alignment and pure gut instinct in a way offenses can't plan against. He's SF's wildcard, and on a defense laden with monsters and freaks he's perfectly positioned to reap as much damage as possible against opposing offenses.
While Hufanga's certainly has a long way to go to catch Polamalu, the similarities early in his career are apparent. History doesnt repeats itself but it sure does rhymes a whole lot.

Flashback to 2021. Melvin Ingram had signed with the Steelers in hopes of revitalizing his career opposite a premier Edge rusher in TJ Watt. All that stood in his way was a former 3rd round pick from the football powerhouse school of Charlotte entering his second season, Alex Highsmith. By midseason, however, it was clear that the Steelers saw something in Highsmith and Ingram demanded a trade in search of a starting opportunity.
Throughout the 2022 season, Highsmith rewarded the Steelers' faith in him. He showcased an array of pass rush moves to finish 6th in the league with 14.5 sacks, highlighted by his devastating spin move. He also led the league in forced fumbles, along with Haason Reddick. He actually graded even more highly as a run defender, according to PFF, and even showed good coverage skills for a LB.
Highsmith has blossomed into the do-it-all Linebacker they envisioned when they shipped Ingram off for a 6th round pick. While he still has some room to grow, there's no question that he and TJ Watt have as good a chance as any to finish 2023 as the league's best pass rush tandem.

Tua Tagovailoa, perhaps the most polarizing player in the NFL presently. Some of the criticism justified and some vacuous, somewhere in the middle of all this there is the realization that what we got in the 2022 season was a much-improved player who when given the confidence, right system and weapons showed the ability of elite talent. Finishing first in league passer rating, 25 touchdowns, around 9 yards Y/A behind one of the worst OL’s in the league (24th in pass block win rate, thank god for when TA was playing) was a bright spot for his growth and maturity as a QB and team leader. On intermediate throws, Tua ranked first in EPA per drop back and completion percentage. Tua had the lowest average time to throw on these pass attempts at 2.63, the league average for throws of 11 or more air yards is 3.02 seconds. There will be arguments of course that having two of the best receivers in the league has helped, there can’t be any argument, but it is interesting to note that Tua was ranked 33rd in the league in passing yards after the catch which suggests his arm is doing a lot of the lifting as well. 2 serious concussions and subsequently missing time robbed Dolphins fans of seeing him produce at a consistent level but at 8-1 as a starter leading into December (before the wheels fell off) there was enough to have him nominated and subsequently voted into the Top 100 players for the season.

Joining the Eagles mere days before Week 1 via trade, Gardner-Johnson would serve as the cherry on top for the formidable 2022 Eagles defense. More than just a change in scenery, Gardner-Johnson also experienced a change in position, switching from nickel corner to a more traditional safety. Safe to say, he adapted well to the change. Gardner-Johnson co-lead the league with 6 interceptions.
Gardner-Johnson often employs a ballhawk style coverage. He has a great sense for the ball in the air, and a blazingly fast approach which will often punish poor placement and deflections. Pairing with the disruption caused by the Eagle’s D-line and the coverage by their excellent corners gave Gardner-Johnson plenty of opportunities to flash those skills.
Mclaurin got Slay beat? It’s alright CJGJ will fly over to make the pick.
Underthrown? You’re done for.
Sometimes it feels like he spawns out of nowhere to make the pick.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention trash talk antics. If there was an award for instigation, C.J. Gardner-Johnson would win in a landslide. Few are better at getting under the opponent’s skin. Gardner-Johnson brings a level of grit, energy, and bravado that can instantly make the secondary better.

Ryan Ramczyk turned in a solid year again in 2022. However, he happened to be on the 2022 New Orleans Saints football in 2022 as well. The offense was woefully inconsistent and particularly struggled to get anything going in the 2nd half of most games ranking in the top 5 in terms of three and out percentage during the latter half of the game. Consequently, Ram was mostly ignored throughout the season where he only allowed 3 sacks, 5 QB hits and 20 pressures (per PFF). If I was to pick any performance of his to highlight it would be his work against Nick Bosa in week 12 he stonewalled Bosa all game and his only real mistake was a false start penalty. Ryan continues to be one of the strongest tackles in the NFL in terms of his anchor and his ability to deal with any pass rush moves that an opposing Edge might throw at him. Hopefully, 2023 will see his return to the upper echelons of this hallowed list

Tee Higgins was one of the biggest draft crushes I’ve had in some time, so it was a no brainer to pick up his write up, even though he plays for one of my favorite team’s biggest rivals. He’s just a really fun player to watch from a WR coach’s perspective. Let’s dive into a few things that makes Tee Higgins a Top 100 player and an elite WR in the NFL.
The first thing you have to love about Tee’s game is his deep ball ability. That has always been his calling card, even without elite speed. So, what makes him such a threat? Well, I would be remiss to leave off his size and frame. He’s long and broad and those two things allow him to high point footballs and shield off defenders naturally. However, what separates Tee from the other thousand long and broad people playing WR at any level up and down the country is an otherworldly ability to track a football down the field, very late hands and reactions to assist with preventing a defender from getting between the ball, and most importantly the body control of a world class ballet performer. I mean this when I say that Tee Higgins has the best body control down the field of any player in football and WR gurus like Urban Meyer, Brian Hartline, and Butch will say that body control is the hardest thing to teach a receiver to do and arguably the most sought after trait of a downfield threat, moreso than speed.
Here’s a great example of this. Sauce is playing Cover 3 to his side of the field, so he’s able to open to the QB and track the ball flight. He’s in decent trail position as like I said earlier, Tee isn’t a burner. However, Sauce is late to find the ball because Tee doesn’t give anything to the ball being flight until the last possible moment where his eyes widen and his hands go up. Sauce is even able to flip his head around and get in the line of sight of Tee, but Tee still effortlessly adjusts his body to maintain eye contact with the football and track it into his bread basket. Not often did Sauce get beat deep this year, but he sure did by Tee. Another example of Tee just sonning DBs downfield. In this matchup, the Browns are playing 2-Read. As soon as the slot WR to Tee’s side goes vertical, it becomes matchup quarters and Greedy Williams is attached to Tee. This is a ball that SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THROWN. Greedy is in excellent position on the fade. The safety is coming underneath on the deep out so even a back shoulder is typically a bad idea here. The Browns play this really well! But, still, here’s Tee high pointing the ball centimeters above Greedy’s hands and ripping it away from him, having the body control to remain on his feet even as gravity and Greedy are pulling him to the ground, and walking into the end zone.
An underrated part of Tee’s game is his route running. He’s very good on his release. The first clip of this cut up shows why. In the slot here, he stems his defender outside while pushing vertical. His delayed release and “out-in-out” stepping pattern freezes the curl/flat player in the cover 3. He’s in a bad spot to play the “curl” zone (he’s not running a curl) of the coverage because the backer to his side blitzes but Tee has him so frozen, he passes Tee off to no one and Tee is able to settle into wide open space. He also uses his body control to break off vertical routes very quickly, even without having the quickest of feet. Cover 3 to Tee again as most teams were scared of him getting over top of the defense. Tee options this go route off into a perfect flag comeback, using both his intelligence and body control to find open space. The defender is flipped open and running from the snap so he recognizes getting behind him is hard. But the defender is also in really good leverage to snap back down on fast break back to the football, so he has to really sell vertical. He closes space and cuts first like he’s going to run a fade/corner route. Then, he plants extremely hard vertically in one of the most unbelievable leg angles I’ve seen from someone that is still able to keep their feet and comes back to the football. The corner is completely helpless to stop this play.
There’s been this long standing whisper that Tee is a product of Jamarr. I attempted to illustrate as briefly as possible just how incredible of a player Tee is in his own right, but I would be remiss when discussing Tee in context of this list on 2022 play to mention how much he elevated his game with Jamarr out. Tee ended the year with 74 catches for 1029 yards. Nothing to scoff at. But with Jamarr out, he elevated his play to a pace of 110 catches for 1577 yards. Tee may be one of the only players in football that is held back by a top 5 WR talent playing across from him. He proved this year that both players serve a crucial role in this offense and if anything, he could stand to see more targets next season even with Jamarr in the fold. He can be the WR1 and when all the attention is paid to him, he seems to take his game to even higher levels. Look out for him next season climbing up this list even higher.

Quenton Nelson continues to be the best lineman on the Colts once again. Having a down year compared to his previous pedigree, he was not quite as dominant as his usual standards in pass protection, he allowed more sacks than he had previously, but some of that can be attributed to inexperienced QB play and poor pocket presence forcing him to have to hold up for longer. Nelson allowed 5 sacks out of the Colts’ 60 total allowed sacks, while starting all 17 games and coming close to the lead league among guards with snaps taken, showing he was nowhere near the biggest culprit on the team in allowing sacks. There were two plays that I felt summarized his pass protection. First, he does a great job picking up a stunt to give Ehlinger time in his first NFL start. Second, is simply a picture. The ball was snapped at 9:37, and approximately 2.5 seconds into the play, Q is the only lineman whose man is not pressuring Sam Ehlinger.
However, Quenton Nelson was still a force to be reckoned with in the run. Between his ability pull, or lead block for Jonathan Taylor, Quenton Nelson still retains his ability to be a dominant force in run blocking. Any Jonathan Taylor highlight will heavily feature a solid block from Q giving him the running lane he takes, or Q out in front leading the charge! He will do this on any DL in the league too, there were several big gains in the Eagles game where Q was able to move the very talented Eagles DTs. He routinely performed this well against some of the best Defensive Lines in the league, such as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, where he does a great job preventing Heyward from wrecking this TD run,
Expect Quenton Nelson to be a massive cornerstone of Anthony Richardson’s development in Indianapolis, providing a solid foundation to every facet of the run game, and a source of protection up the middle against pass rushers
