2023.06.05 07:42 TownCalledPanic I Think I Got Scammed

So a couple days ago I posted in a car parts group that I was looking for a particular part. A guy messaged me about it saying he was selling his and even sent a picture of it in his lounge. I asked how much and we agreed on a price. I transfered the money to his account and sent him a screenshot that it had gone through. He stated he has not got it yet. It was been 2 days and I have sent 3 messages asking for an update. Despite him being active he has not responded. Honestly kinda worried.

2023.06.05 07:41 heradderal Smell of fish seemed to have triggered my allergy? Not sure if I should use epi pen or not

It’s been about 5 or 4 hours since I smelled the smell of fish coming from my dads plate of fish and the smell was strong and I stayed near it for a minute.
We left and we drove in the car for a few minutes and I didn’t really feel anything until we got to our destination and I noticed I had a weird sensation in my throat like it was swelling but then it wasn’t like I just had something stuck in my throat and it felt I guess cold?
Like to felt tight I guess idk but it went away and then came back but the affect wore down a bit. I kept taking deep breaths and I felt like in the right side of my throat had something wrong with it and it still does while I’m writing this but it’s not that bad.
I wanted to use my epipen but then I hesitated and was not sure if I should cause it was like the only symptom I’ve felt and this has happened before but nothing really happened and I didn’t use the pen.
I feel fine but I still have the weird throat sensation when I breath like one of my wind pipes I can literally feel I guess.
I don’t feel any other symptoms so what should I do?

2023.06.05 07:41 Artistic_Sink_2022 How much fine for not changing licence plate after 1 month?

I will have a Hauptwohnsitz from next week but I would not like to keep my old car and sell it in september back in my country, and then buy a new one in Austria. For that short time I would not like to pay for all the registering fees. Is there any way around this or should I just pray that the police won't stop me in this period?

2023.06.05 07:41 Inevitable_Worker810 Hey me again😅

So I’ve been looking for some birds and all of my local pet stores are selling birds at a ridiculous amount and I’m not looking for a crazy species just a GCC. I found a website with breeders and I found a baby GCC named Harry Potter, the breeder is located at Tx while I have ordered fish online I have never odered reptiles or any birds and I don’t know if it’s a good idea, it has a details saying that they are shipped in a plane via live animal cargo and it said on the description of the birds that it was tested for disease and as well as the parents. It had also mentioned that before they let the bird go to a new home they get a certified avian veterinary technician, I have everything on standby cage food toys treats etc money set aside for emergency vet visits, I just need to know if it’s safe and a good idea.(also the birds hatch date is 3/31/22

2023.06.05 07:40 Koetjeka Do you dread quiet places too?

Hello fellow Reddittors,
I never actually realised until now but I prefer places with a lot of background noise and I dislike quiet places.
I guess the reason is that when at a quiet place, any trigger noise would be much more noticeable.
I'm sitting in a shopping mall at the food court now having my lunch, which has a lot of background noise as it is next to an indoor kids playground with many of those noisy "insert-a-coin" rocking cars / horses. I'm totally relaxed even though there are so many potential triggers here.

2023.06.05 07:39 _Tony_lee_ is it safe to do a 2k mile road trip with 1000lb payload on a 2012 Honda accord?

So I've been planning a road trip with 4 of my friends and were gonna take my car.
I did the math and passenger weight is gonna be 850lb and cargo will be around 100-150lb
is it safe?
Max payload for the accord is 850 so I'm a bit hesitant.
I have changed all brake pads and ATF fluid in preparation and have 4k miles left on my oil.
if I were to go what else should I do to prepare?

2023.06.05 07:38 knitbitch1 Can’t stop picking at them!

I am on my second set of press on nails now and I love how they look— but I’m on day 4 and I can’t stop compulsively pulling up the edges of the nails. I’ve been gluing them back down but this is a problem I don’t have with gel from the salon. I bought some super strong NYK1 glue with a little brush after watching a lot of YouTube suggestions and it’s pretty strong, but I’m still able to pull them up. I find myself playing with them absent-mindedly in the car or while watching tv. Any tips for how to stop picking? Aside from will power??

2023.06.05 07:38 Presley163098 AITA for helping my bf and not my brother?

So a little back story my brother has been in n out of prison since I was little. He’s been struggling staying sober and we all try to help him ever since I went to prison because I’ve expressed to my family how I couldn’t do it alone without my family and my older brother has done it by himself for 15+ years. we’ve been supporting him, fast forward to now. I’ve been out of prison and off parole early. I know I make more money than my sisters and I live in a state where it’s less expensive to live unlike them they live in LA. And I just bought my man a car because he’s getting out of prison soon. My brother recently when back for something small and we are all here to help him. But right now I’m struggling and I’m putting money in my man’s books so I know they know I have money but only for my man. But he has no one I mean nobody and I cant see him cause he’s on restriction. But I try to make him feel comfortable in there so his time goes by faster. I wish I can be like this with my older brother but I try to do with what I have available and I feel like the AH for not doing more?

2023.06.05 07:38 LGBTQIA_Over50 I can't get emergency dental care at 130am in Northern VA, WTF, I have excruciating dental pain

This is bullshit.
I have a god damn Masters degree, multi-industry experience, was born here and I can't get a God damn job to afford benefit and dental care
W - T - F
There is hardly anyone who speaks English as a 1st language in these service and office jobs. God damn it I am in excruciating pain!
"Well, if you don't have a job and medical insurance just go to Howard University or Washington Hospital and sit there for 5 hours and then they'll yank your tooth for you."
W -T- F
Dentists have the equipment to numb the pain when they put that needle into your mouth. I am in so much pain I don't want a dental student experimenting on me, I want a dentist
I'm sitting here in my car feeling like shit, in excruciating pain and Fairfax ER doesn't have maxilofacial surgeons or dentists
What do I ask for to get rid of this pain from the cracked lower left side molar *2nd tooth from the back.
I have a major headache. I took 2 Advils at 1130pm and its 130am and no one will freaking help me.
What am I asking the ER medical doctors to do?

2023.06.05 07:37 Head-Perception4904 So Me 21M and my girl 19F got into a fight over an old friend who became a successful corn⭐️ , was I in the wrong?

So ME 21(M) and my girl 19(F) got into a fight, and I need some advice.
Hey guys/girls throwaway account.
So I was in a conversation with my brother who is a junior in high school. And he asked me and my girlfriend about having high school crushes, and I didn’t have a high school crush, I dated a girl back in high school but that’s about it and she knows about this.. my girlfriend spewed about having multiple crushes, and having a HUGE crush on this one guy all the one up until senior year (so freshman till senior year) so then since I had nothing to talk about, I told my brother about how I was friends with girl who became a pornstar (not my friend anymore, she was friends with me during high school then we parted ways) , my girlfriend became jealous and left and dabbed everyone up except me (normal she gives me a kiss before she leaves)once she leaves, my dog hops in her car she then calls me to tell me to get my dog out of her car (she never had a problem picking up my dog and moving her out of her car) so once I got outside she put my dog on the grass, didn’t even need to take the dog out (she was a little dog) and I held the door handle, and asked “are you mad? why are you mad?” And then she threw Baja blast on me after I didn’t let go of the handle to talk to her.
In this relationship, I feel I can’t bring up any girl from my past because she gets jealous, but I have to keep my mouth shut when she brings up anything regarding another guy (I don’t care because I’m not jealous when another guy gets bought up) she also bought up the fact she cheated on her boyfriend in high school and I never knew that.
TLDR: I talked about having a friend who became an upcoming Pronstar and my girl got mad and splashed Baja blast when I tried to talk to her about it.

2023.06.05 07:37 davgonp [TOMT][SONG] Indie song that was used in a car commercial around the early 2010s

I'm looking for an indie song that was used in a car commercial. This commercial featured landscape but no people. I believe it was released around the early 2010s, just as the song.
What I remember about the song is that it was a female voice singing, but I don't know if it could have been an indie band. It was in English and the chorus was something like "uh uh uh uh go and...". I can't recall the lyrics but I'm pretty sure it was about freedom. The song was similar to Florence + The Machine, it featured a guitar picking which was the instrumental.

2023.06.05 07:36 sensitivityofprofit WIBTA if I asked my neighbor to not park in front of my house?

I live in a relatively busy suburb. Every house on my street has a two-car garage, a two-car driveway, and a patch of street in front that people use to park most of the time.
Most people, like me, use their garage space for storage. We have three cars, all sedans. My neighbor to the right of us has three cars, two sedans and a jacked up truck.
My dad parks his two sedans in the driveway, so I always parked in the street in front of our house.
This new neighbor came in, parked his sedans in his driveway, and for some reason, leaves his patch of street in front of his house empty, and parks in front of my house with his jacked up truck.
This means I have to either block my dad by directly parking in front of our driveway, and we have different schedules, so it’s in inconvenient for him, or I have to park in front either one of my neighbor’s houses, which I don’t want to do, or I could park a block away and walk a quarter-mile to my house.
My parents are sheltered immigrants who think Americans are generally dangerous(and these are a lot of rowdy twenty-somethings), so they don’t think I should say anything.
What I’ve been doing is parking one my dad’s sedans in the street permanently, and then using our driveway’s second spot.
However, my dad uses both more now, and every time he takes one from out front, the neighbor moves his truck.
I want to tell my neighbor to please not park in front of our house if they have another option.
My friend says I shouldn’t, because it’s a public road, and therefore I have no ground to stand on if they ask why.
Low key, it makes me incredibly mad.

2023.06.05 07:35 floorwine28 My new boss is a dickhead and I’m already sick of him

I got employed at a new job about 3 weeks ago
the job I work at is a family owned vehicle collision repair centre, owned by my boss (let’s call him Steve) and his wife, and his son (let’s call him Greg) who is the foreman
I was hired as a beginner car stripper, which means I strip the cars of their interior and exterior parts so they can be repaired/painted, I have experience as a mechanic but no prior experience for this role and they new this when they hired me.
On my first day I was paired up with one of the guys who helped me out with my jobs, I then started getting simple jobs to complete on my own, by day 4 they were giving me large jobs stripping trucks, and I’d try my best to complete them on my own but would sometimes go ask my co workers for help.
Steve noticed me walking around the workshop and asked “why are you walking around doing nothing?” I told him “I’m just going to ask Greg for help” as that’s what he had told me to do if I ever needed help. I could tell he wasn’t happy with this but I carried on.
Greg isn’t super friendly but he does come and help me when I need it, how ever as the days go on I feel like he becomes even blunter with me, and acts like he doesn’t want to help.
One day I was advised to help some of the guys to clean up the workshop, I grabbed a broom and started sweeping, Steve took the broom and imitated my sweeping asking “have you ever swept before?” so I started sweeping more vigorously even though I felt like my sweeping was sufficient enough. Later on in the day I told him there was a dead bird in the shop that had eaten the rat poison (we have a rat problem apparently) he picked the bird up and tossed it at me. I was fuming inside.
After a few more days of him being unreasonable, swearing and yelling at me to work harder (he does this to everyone not just me), look happier and stop walking around the workshop (this time I was walking to the bathroom) I was becoming pretty annoyed, then one morning I was walking up to the workshop painter to ask if he had the job board for the car I was about to strip, as he had just painted the car I was to work on. Steve stopped me in my tracks and asked “you have no reason to speak to him, why are you walking up to him” I told him the situation and he angrily told me to use my initiative and ask the office instead, I told him “I thought I was using my initiative as he was the last person in the car” he started yelling and I walked off to the office.
Yesterday he yelled at me again and I told him to “not speak to me like that” his response was “to my office now” I followed him to the office and he said I need to become a better worker if I want to stay at this company, he wants me to stop walking around and asking for help and he told me Greg is already sick of me and that Greg doesn’t get angry easily.
I said to him that I thought I was meant to ask Greg for help? He said I need to stop asking questions now and to get on with my job, his wife chimed in and said “well she is a beginner she should be allowed to ask for help” he clapped back with “it takes a smart person to be a mechanic, I thought you’d be good at this job” (keep in mind it’s a completely different job to what I was doing previously. Me and his wife came to an agreement that he should have me paired with someone that can help me with the bigger jobs and my boss admitted he was giving me the hard jobs to see how had I can work. He then said “I’m sick of useless employees I’ve been dealing with them for 15 years, and as for me not speaking to you like that, I’ll speak to my employees how ever I want, it’s my business!”
He expects us to work 60 hours a week and act happy all the time, not talk back to him when he’s being unreasonable, gets angry at people for having sick days and tells them “you can still work if you have a sore throat, it’s your throat not your brain” (he legit said that) he gets angry if we talk to each other during work hours.
