Hell, void. This is me. Life should be..not this:
I am a student in a sort of professional school program (trying to be vague just in case) for a very specific career path & I have been in an LDR with a man who is already working in that field for a few years. I met them ~5y ago before I started school, but nothing happened until about a year ago. He moved away for work (c’est la vie in this particular business) & I believed him when he said he wanted to continue to try to move forward. Tale as old as time I guess but I believed it because I actually was willing to travel & see him & build on this. Because we complimented each other so well..it was so nice to have someone on my level for once intellectually but also humor-wise. The naïveté begins. I didn’t notice when every conversation became about him all the time. I just was happy to show up & be supportive because I could genuinely see a life with him. I feel like you show up for the people that you want to show up for you, you know? I have been having a really hard time this year in my program. I have one of the most important exams of my life literally in 3 days. I have needed true support & love in this time, but in the past like 5-6mo it’s fully disappeared. We had talked about me visiting for months. We’ve discussed the dates for weeks. For months, he swore neither the money nor the time were a problem. Now that the time has come, whaddaya know - it’s me, asking about the dates, trying to plan the trip, so excited to finally be with him again. Finally it comes down to booking the flight & he says “oh what about next fall.” I’m heartbroken. Not to mention the fact that I have the most important exam of my life in a handful of days - a fact that both he & I are aware of. This trip was supposed to immediately follow that exam. I called him out on it today & made it clear I deserved better & he had not one single argument. You know how much that sucks? But I didn’t think I could go into that exam with this hanging over me. I’m not stupid. I know now that there never never any fidelity or substance here, that I was a place filler for his loneliness in his new location & job, that I was his support in a place where he felt like had no one. Because this isn’t the first time I’ve gone through this devastation - with friends or men, frankly - & after that crumbles, I readjust how I measure that 💩 & try to avoid it in the future. Yet again I’m standing here figuratively with my 🍆 in my hand like “…how did this happen again?!?!” I was was so careful. I double checked every possible red flag..but the reasons for those flags seemed valid at the time. But I mean my god can he really think I’m dumb enough to sit around for another 6 months when I’ve already had my time wasted for a year😂😂. I already wasted the last year of my twenties with smoke being blown up my leg. I entered my twenties in a pretty similar situation - some deadbeat tool who acted like I was an imposition, a burden, whatever for wanting to see him after work or on his day off (some of you will think I’m kidding about that but I’m deadass serious). I’ve overshared enough but just trust me, there could be anthologies of this storyline in my life. What the hell is wrong. Why do I feel like I am constantly the person called to fix things or lean on. I just want that support & love, not this crap where I end of being the only one not floating on the door in freezing water that can definitely fit two people, Rose🚢. I’m not independent because I WANT to be.
Tl;Dr: Professional student falls in love with professional 19y her senior but was led on worse than Leo DiCaprio at the Oscars. In the words of the prophet Katt Williams: I gotta figure out what about my 🐱is attracting these “beach” ass ninjas.

Hello,
Currently pricing and building out a long line setup with plans to convert to a highline rig when experience allows. Is it at all reasonable to try to meet a single checked baggage weight limit for a full 100m rig?
If it's a reasonable goal, I am going to try to make the rig as lightweight conscious as possible (While staying in safe KN load limits), if not. I'm going to overbuild everything, without any sort of weight in mind.
100 Meters of Jelly Pro is 5.5 Kg, When it comes to spansets, shackles, the tensioning system, backup line, etc. Do you think it would be possible to build a rig that comes in under the 22 Kg checked bag limit?

I wanted to write up a tutorial for those Googling solutions to this like I have been for the last few hours.

Notes

This tutorial looks fairly long, however shouldn't take over ~five minutes. I wrote it in detail for those at all levels of computer proficiency.
I believe that in theory this tutorial should also work for some even older versions of macOS. Let me know what happens if this is you.
I'll likely be active here years into the future, so if anything becomes outdated, you need help, or just want to say thanks, leave a comment :)
Noob friendly for those who find that understanding ini files, homebrew, terminal, etc. are beyond them, like me. We just wanna play some games, man!

Tutorial

If you haven't stumbled upon this first, you've probably found plenty of tutorials and threads about this topic all giving slightly different solutions or frontends. These are all outdated and don't seem to work, either because SDL MAME doesn't support High Sierra anymore, or the tutorial isn't about High Sierra specifically. It's hard to find legacy downloads, and when you do, they often give errors with complex fixes, or don't work at all. Through lots of trial and error, I've found the latest working supported version, and how to get it working. This is the cool kid tutorial that should (hopefully) relieve your headache.

Required Downloads

There are three things we have to get. MAME, M64, which is an easy way to launch MAME, and SDL for macOS. Let's download our ingredients first before mixing them.

MAME	This is a huge list of legacy MAME downloads that work with macOS. The download we are looking for is version 0.228. Through trial and error, I found this to be the latest version working with my method.	Scroll down and find "mame0228-64bit". Download.	Download
M64	This is an easy, lightweight launcher for MAME.	Scroll down to a tab that says assets, and find "M64.app.zip". Download.	Download
SDL	Hell if I know. Makes shit work. According to their page: "Simple DirectMedia Layer is a cross-platform development library designed to provide low level access to audio, keyboard, mouse, joystick, and graphics hardware via OpenGL and Direct3D." It's used by big boys like Valve, so it's legit.	Scroll down to a tab that says assets, and find the first file that ends in .dmg. It should look something like "SDL2-x.xx.x.dmg". Download.	Download (Version 2.26.5. This is the newest version at time of writing, but even if it isn't when you're reading this, it should work fine.)

Hopefully these are all in your Downloads folder. If they aren't, at least make sure they're all in the same place.

Putting It All Together

Let's deal with SDL first.

Right-click "SDL2-x.x.x", and click open. You should see a window with some various files. Leave that window open.
Now, right-click Finder, and click "New Finder Window". Type command+shift+g. In the window that says "Go to the folder:" paste "~/Library/Frameworks/". You should be in a folder called Frameworks. If you get some error or aren't in Frameworks, that's okay! If you're in Frameworks, head to bullet 4.
Assuming you got an error, pull up the "Go to the folder:" page, and paste "~/Library/". Right-click your desktop, and click "New Folder". Name it "Frameworks". Drag this folder into the Finder window that says Library. You should have a new folder in Library called Frameworks. To check this, pull up the "Go to the folder:" page, and paste "~/Library/Frameworks/". You should be in an empty folder called Frameworks. (If you aren't, either you did something wrong, or this tutorial is shit. Leave a comment and I'll try to help.)
Go back to the SDL2 window, and drag "SDL2.framework" from the window into the Frameworks window. It probably looks something like a Lego brick.
You can close all Finder and SDL2 windows.

That was probably the hardest part of the tutorial. Pat yourself on the back. Now for MAME and M64.

Go back to your Downloads folder, or wherever you put the three downloads. Now double click "mame0228-64bit". Archive Utility should automatically unzip the file. If for whatever reason it doesn't, go to bullet 2. You can tell that Archive Utility has successfully unzipped the file if you see a folder with the same name above the original zip file.
SKIP THIS BULLET IF mame0228-64bit SUCCESSFULLY UNZIPPED. Right-click mame0228-64bit, click "Open With", click "Other", and in the search bar paste "Archive Utility". Select it, and click "Open".
Double-click "M64.app". You should now see an application called "M64", likely with a square blue icon. If this doesn't unzip, follow step 2 again.
Drag M64 into the mame0228-64bit FOLDER, not the zip.
Double-click the mame0228-64bit folder. Find M64, right-click, and select "Open". If you get a pop-up window, select "Open" again.

If everything went well, MAME should open! Hooray! To leave, just hit escape. If it doesn't open, leave a comment and I'll do my best to help. Again, please leave a comment even if you're from years after this post. I'll likely still be active.

Highly Recommended Steps

Go back to your Downloads folder, or wherever you put the three downloads. You can delete the three original downloads. This is just the two ZIP archives and the SDL Disk Image. Do not delete any folders.
Find M64 in the mame0228-64bit folder. Right-click it, click "Make Alias", and name it whatever you want. Put this new alias somewhere more accessible on your computer, like your dock. Clicking this will launch MAME.
Move the mame0228-64bit folder out of your Downloads folder. Try to remember where you put it. This is just to ensure that it doesn't get accidentally deleted when cleaning your computer.
Familiarize yourself with MAME. Look up beginner tutorials. Put all your roms in the roms folder located in the mame0228-64bit folder. DO NOT ASK WHERE TO GET ROMS HERE. DM ME OR GOOGLE.

Prologue

Scene 1

This is our first introduction to the Snake storyline. It consists of a train of refugee children who are fleeing the provinces of Kolanse and are heading west. We are at the Elan Plain and the leader of this column of children is the oldest boy there, Rutt, aged about 13 or 14. He carries a small baby called Held while making sure she is protected from the sun by wrapping her well. Most of our PoV here is Badalle- a girl with green eyes and a way with words. The landscape is very desolate and it looks like Rutt is surprised every morning that they 'still live.'
Badalle describes various people/animals etc using unusual words. You can figure out most on your own, but could be a little frustrating, so if you would like to know-
Ribbers are dogs, Fathers are adults, Quitters/bones skins/Inquisitors are Forkrul Assail
She has come up from the south along Stump Road to join the rest of the Snake. She considers Rutt as the head of the snake and its fangs too. None of the children ask him where they are headed because it is the belief that he knows that is important.
We get the PoV of a 14 year old Visto who knows what the Fathers do to the children they steal away at night, because he has seen small bones in their campfires. The boy is full of a parasite called Satra Riders which would sooner or later burst out and kill him. He is impatient for the relief of death, and hopes atleast a ribber eats him and gets infected.
At the end of the day, Badalle looks back at the line of bodies of dead children they have left behind. The Snake of ribs is called Chal Managal in the Elan tongue. Don't skip her poems.

Scene 2

In the Wastelands, there is a nest of K'Chain Che'Malle called Ampelas Rooted. Our PoV here is the last surviving Elan tribal called Kalyth. When her settlement was attacked she fled the scene and feels guilty about her selfishness in abandoning her family. Alonmgside, we get description of this nest where the lower level is called Root, then Feed (where food is grown in the form of fungi and orthen- a type of rodents) then the Womb (where young ones undergo surgeries and are differentiated into factions according to the needs of the Nest), then to Heart which is guarded by Ve'Gath soldiers (these are purely for warfare and the Matron has been producing a lot of them, indicating that war is coming soon). From there she moves to Eyes, Inner Keep, Acyl Nest - home of the Matron. The final guard she meets is Brenigan, a 1000 year old J'an sentinel.
Sag'Churok and Gunth Mach have returned, and they report failure. Redmask was not the correct choice, and that Kalyth, who is acknowledged as a Destriant to the K'Chain, has made an error in choosing him. She, alongwith a small group of Guardians, is instructed to join this round of Seeking. She refuses but the Matron is adamant that they will find a Mortal Sword and Shield Anvil among humans. The adventure party consists of Sag'Churok, Gunth Mach, 2 more K'ell Hunters and a Shi'gal Assassin. The addition of the Assassin probably indicates that the Matron means business this time.
Quick note about the Shi'gal- there are always three present with the Matron because 2 alone might conspire among themselves and kill the Matron or each other. Sending away one of the Assassins is a huge risk, so maybe the Matron is descending into madness.
By spending all this time with the K'Chain, Kalyth has been given the gifts of their language and a higher percipience through oils.
Shi'gal Gu'Rull is sure that the Matron Acyl is insane. He considers humans, especially Kalyth, as weak. Since they returned empty handed from the west (Redmask), and the North is a realm of ice, they are to journey South. He takes off to do some advance scouting. He is flying out of Ampelas after 8 short centuries.

Scene 3

At the Wastelands, a ghost travels with a small group. They eat stringy meat from scaled rodents and a type of rhizan. As a ghost he flits from one person to the next and finds innate resolve and strength.
Sheb declares that all empty lands are useless and one day all cities should be merged into one. Last, who is a farmer, says that there won't be food if there are no farms. Before they can argue, Asane tells them not to fight. Sheb yells at her and Nappet defends her. He threatens to cut out his tongue because he knows nobody would object. Rautos (yes, familiar name) complains about his wife. Breath thinks he killed his wife by holding her underwater and drowning her. Drowning seeme to be her pet subject. At a distance they notice a massive narrow edifice. Taxilian (yes, another familiar name) wants to go check it out. The ghost is content to go alongwith them. He finds that Taxilian's curiosity is strong enough to overcome any misgivings from the others.

the capemoths overhead note a lone, green skinned figure who talks with seven voices. He carries a sword but is naked and he is lost, maybe for weeks, maybe months. Many of us miss this and so the rest of the Ghost sections can be very confusing

Scene 4

After a long time we meet Heboric. He has plenty of visions.

A short tail K'Chain looking at a dragon nailed to a huge wooden lattice, with the nails painted a "rust colour". The dragon is denied death and has been bleeding and suffering, while the short tail seems satisfied.
Two wolves watch him from a ridge as he walks towards a number of statues in the distance.
Overhead there are drifting stars from which faint voices are heard. As he stares he is unbalanced and floats up.
Looking down, he sees more stars which give up a dozen suns of green fire that grew in size and sound as it neared him.
He sees Fener, a cast down god who is trapped like him. Both are in the way of the jade suns. Heboric accepts all of it as "The Abyss cares nothing for us."

To end this prologue, here is a quote from Heboric, speaking in the voice of "his enemy", i.e. the Abyss.

Behold, my friends, I am justice.
And when at last we meet, you will not like it.
And if irony awakens in you at the end, see me weep with these tears of jade, and answer with a smile.
If you’ve the courage.
Have you, my friends, the courage?

Hello-
Have a vet appt tmw at 8 am but need advice while I stress out. 60 lb out mix male neutered dog. History of frequent anal gland expressions, in hydrolyzed diet due to gut sensitivity. Timeline of events
Sunday: 2 p.m, noticed licking at butt. Made mental note to call Vet on Monday and schedule anal gland expression. Dog gets these regularly (every 1-2 months).
Sunday: 4 p.m. shaking, yelping, lethargic. Take to Vet ER. sedate, do rectal exam. Nothing found except one full gland. Discharged.
Sunday night- Monday morning: dog extremely restless, not coming out of sedation well, bad night of sleep
Monday morning: dog guarding rear, tail tucked, take back to ER. Sedated and checked. Told either inflammation or muscle strain. Prescribed carprofen and gaba.
Monday evening: finally returning to normal. Primary vet check up scheduled for following Monday.
Tuesday: doing well, no concerns.
Wednesday: last morning of regular stool. Noticed liquid (no solid at all) diarrhea starting in afternoon. Appetite normal. Took off carprofen per primary vet, still on gaba and added probiotic and omeprazole per vet.
Continued Diarrhea, still not one bit of solid stool and multiple accidents in home overnight wed-today. Moved up primary vet check up to 8am tmw. More lethargic, clearly just not feeling well. Evening meal- did not finish all food, less energetic, etc.
30 min ago: accident in home. Blood in “stool” aka liquid. Called ER, told use my judgement but can wait till primary care in morning.
Was something missed? Should my primary care have pushed to see dog sooner? I’m the one that moved it tomorrow instead of waiting Monday.

When I got home from school, even though I knew the clock wasn’t literally going to try to eat me alive like it always seemed to want to on weeknights, I still watched it intensely, dreading every minute that passed. Even though this had all been what I was hoping for over the course of the last week and a half, going through with everything I would need to do to meet up with Anastasia at her hour in the middle of the night still seemed way scarier than just dealing with the clock’s nightly threats against my life which, by that point, had become something of a routine for me.
At 11:00 PM, my parents looked like they had gone to sleep. I would wait another hour as Anastasia had advised. I would leave at midnight. And that wouldn’t be a problem since it was a Friday night, and my clock wasn’t going through its usual changes. By that time, the clock hadn’t started glowing or even turning the slightest shade of red.
When midnight did come, the clock was still in the same state as it was at 11. My parents were still asleep. They hadn’t even gotten up for a bathroom break. I turned on the kitchen lights, hoping it wouldn’t wake my parents up. It didn’t. I went to the kitchen table to take the keys to my father's truck. They weren’t there. I had no idea where else to look for them.
I tried looking all around the kitchen and living room. I checked mom and dad's bathroom. Nothing. I didn’t know how I would make my way to Anastasia’s house now. I could just picture her, spending all night at her back door, waiting for me to show up, without me ever coming. Maybe I'd find the keys tomorrow. But that seemed like a fat chance since dad wasn't gonna be driving anywhere tomorrow.
I wouldn't have him to find them for me. It looked like I’d have to wait a whole nother week on any answers now.
I had recently invested in a new watch. I had some allowance money left over from when I was a kid. My school has a little gift shop with small things like school-themed wristwatches, so after my last class of the day, I stopped by and picked up a College High watch so I could check the time without needing to look at the clock in my room or at my phone. I'm bringing this up because at around this point I was watching with increasing anxiety as time was passing by. According to the watch, the time now was 12:30 and I still didn’t have any access to my father’s car.
I was already feeling hopeless enough, just thanks to that fact, but then I remembered that I still didn’t even know how to get to Anastasia’s house.
Since I still didn’t know where the keys were and it didn’t look like I’d find them any time soon, I figured I’d take a break from looking, and go on my phone to look up her address on google maps. I knew I shouldn’t have been using my phone since it was apparently super important not to let it die. I figured it must've been one of those rules like keeping my head under the blanket when The Sandman showed up, along with the rest of my body. But I would only need my phone for a few minutes. Just enough time to look at google maps and sketch out a rough map of the route from my house to Anastasia’s.
The first thing I noticed when I typed in her address was that, thankfully, her house wasn’t too horrendously far away from mine. It would just be a 4-mile drive. So hopefully this meant that, if push did come to shove, I could still just walk there if I had too. I’d probably be late, but that would be better than not showing up at all. So, I at least had that as a back-up plan if nothing else. But it would still be risky. It would take a lot of time to walk there, and then to walk back. Maybe mom and dad would be up after all was said and done. Maybe they’d hear me coming back inside the house, regardless of how I made it to Anastasia’s. Maybe I’d wake up Anastasia’s parents too.
Since I only had an hour and thirty-five minutes left, I had no time to worry all that much about any of this though. I had to get to work, jotting down the path to Anastasia’s house. I would turn left out of my driveway, stay on that road for about a mile and a half, then turn right and stay on that road for another half-mile, then turn left for another mile, and then left again for a final fourth mile.
Another thing I noticed was that Anastasia lived out in the middle of absolute nowhere. I thought I did too, but Anastasia’s house was on a whole nother level of out there.
Fortunately, that meant I’d be driving pretty much exclusively on backroads, so it would literally be impossible to take a wrong turn after I made my first turn out of the driveway and the next right turn after that after about a mile and a half. It also meant that I would be pretty much guaranteed not to run into any other drivers, especially at that time of night. But I guess her remote address explained why she didn’t have the internet connection she would need to do a video call.
Since it was a quarter to 1 by that point, after I found out how to drive to her house, I put on all the layers I could find, took the flashlight that my mom had given me for the walk I had went on during the week prior, and started trying to walk over there, without my parents’ car, despite her recommendations. Even though it was four miles by car, I wouldn't have to worry about staying on the road if I just walked there. If I walked in a straight line, I could get there in just over 2 and half miles or so. I had decided to leave, not out of the front door, but out of the door in the hallway that led to the garage. That door made less noise than the front door.
Unfortunately, I started to get the sense that I hadn’t thought this plan through when I realized I would still have to open the garage door in order to make my way into the outside world. Which, yeah, made considerably more noise than the front door. But then I realized it didn’t matter, since I was gonna have to open the garage door anyway if I wanted to get the car out of the garage and onto the road. So, I had still made the right decision. Except no I hadn’t, because I had just remembered that I still didn’t have the car keys, and so I was supposed to be ditching the whole car idea anyway and had just randomly forgotten about all of that.
I know that all probably sounded pretty messy and wasn't very easy to follow, but maybe someone else reading with ADHD can relate. But anyway, confusing thought processes aside, I walked out the front door and started making my way to Anastasia’s on foot. It really was freezing though. I really did wonder if I could actually make it all the way to her house.
Before I even made it to the end of the driveway, I began to change my mind and decided driving really would be a more reasonable alternative. Obviously, the backroads wouldn’t even be close to snow plowed. But the snow only looked to be about maybe 6 or 7 inches deep, which was still driveable enough with the snow-proof tires that my dad had on his truck. This level of snow isn't all that uncommon around here, so those tires are pretty much a must-have for anybody living in deathly cold climates like us.
So, I could still drive despite the snow, albeit only very slowly what with how much the snow would slow me down. But I was supposed to be driving slowly anyway because I was only 14 and didn’t have a license. But I still couldn’t drive without those keys. Then I remembered I still had my bike in the garage. It was supposedly “all terrain”, so hopefully that meant it could handle the snow. I went into the garage, got my bike out, and tried riding it. Unfortunately, the tires on that bike weren’t even close to capable of handling the snow. I tried pedaling as hard as I could but hardly got anywhere before falling over. I had a feeling this would probably happen. It seemed like a dumb idea but, since I didn’t want to steal my dad’s truck and I couldn’t even seem to find his keys anyway, I figured it was at least worth a shot.
I was just about to say “fuck it” and try meeting Anastasia again on some other night when, just as I had put my bike down in the garage, I had seen that my dad had left behind his keys in the key slot of his car door. Apparently, the reason that they weren’t where they usually were was because my father had locked the truck and just forgot to take his keys with him. I turned the key sticking out of the driver’s side door and it opened. So I really could get inside of his truck after all.
I put the key into the ignition and then put it in reverse. The truck made quite a bit of noise when its ignition started, so I had just hoped that I hadn’t woken up my parents with that. Luckily, my garage is on the other side of the house from where my parents sleep, so the sound did at least have a long way to travel. Once I started backing the truck out of the garage and into the driveway, I ran into another problem. Since the roads weren’t plowed, they were just as snowy as anywhere else. So even with the rearview mirror, I had no idea where my driveway stopped and the road started. I figured I would just keep backing up until I felt like I’d gone far enough.
Far enough came sooner than expected though. Eventually, the car had very clearly backed into the grass, meaning I had backed up too far. Fortunately, I saw that I hadn’t veered too much out of the straight line I was trying to go in, because driving in reverse meant I could see the truck’s tracks right in front of me with the help of the headlights. The car fell onto the grass from back to front. So that meant that the road was now directly in front of me. Since I needed to take a left from my house if I was facing away from it, and I was now facing the opposite direction given that I was looking right at it, that meant that I now had to make a right turn in order to still be going in the right direction.
I took a moment to make sure my logic was right and, once I felt confident, I turned the truck right and then tried to feel for where the road was based on how well the truck was able to move. Eventually I was able to drive relatively smoothly, so I took that to mean that I was back on the road. I tried to angle myself properly so that I wouldn’t wind up veering off the road again. Now and then I would wind up driving myself off the road. But since I was only going like 5 miles an hour, I was able to catch myself before the car wound up falling into any ditches or something.
Since the road was entirely empty, I eventually made the decision to just drive in the middle of the road. Or at least, wherever I thought the middle of the road was. That way, I’d limit the likelihood of driving myself off the right edge.
After about 20 or 30 minutes of driving painfully slowly, I finally saw the sign for my first turn. Since all the turns I was making were fairly sharp ones, they were basically all 90 degrees, there were road signs that I could use to gauge when I should turn without needing to see the road itself. So I still knew when to do it, even though I couldn’t see the road under all the snow and I couldn't use GPS since my phone had to stay on the charger at all costs.
But the snow still made those sharp turns very difficult to make. So I had to start all my turns pretty far ahead of where they actually would’ve been in the road. Naturally, I wound up driving off the road when making literally all of them. But I was always able to work out where the road was supposed to be soon enough. I guess since people are more likely to veer off the road when making turns as opposed to when they’re driving straight, there didn’t seem to be any ditches around all those sharp turns, thankfully enough.
After I made that first turn, I checked my watch. It was now a quarter after 1. I still had 50 minutes to go. I wasn’t making great time, but I had still made it about a third of the way in only about 25 minutes. If I kept up the pace, I’d be there after just under an hour of driving. Which would put me there a little bit after 2 AM. So, pretty much exactly at 2:05, the time we agreed on.
I kept on driving incredibly slowly for what felt like forever. Finally I had made my last turn, and after a bit, I could see lights from the houses off the side of the road in the distance. I figured that this must be the neighborhood Anastasia lived in. If you could even call it a neighborhood. The houses were so hugely spaced out that it hardly even made sense to say you had neighbors. But then, she really did live out in the middle of nowhere.
Every time I passed by a house, I got out of the car and looked for an address with my flashlight. This slowed me down, but it still ensured that I would be headed for the right house. I kept the slip of paper with her address on it since I knew that, without that sheet, I’d absolutely forget which address was hers. I was actually pretty pleased with myself for having thought ahead like that. I usually didn’t. I guess I still usually don’t, if I’m being honest.
I was worried that this whole procedure of getting out of the car to scope out for an address every time I passed a new house would make me late. But fortunately, Anastasia’s house was the third house I came across on that street. So thankfully, I didn’t wind up having to check that many houses and it only cost me maybe another 5 minutes. When I checked my watch, I found I had actually arrived sooner than I had thought. Even with checking every house I had come across up to that point for the address, it was only 1:50.
I had made it with 15 minutes to spare. That meant I had made that last two thirds of my trip in about the same amount of time that I had spent on my first, meaning I had wound up going twice as fast. I suppose as I had gotten comfortable with driving, I sped up the car a little without even realizing it. Doubling your speed sounds like it should be a huge difference, but when you’re only going from 5 miles per hour to 10, I guess it must be pretty hard to notice.
Since I had so much time left and the weather outside was still hellishly cold, I stayed in the truck with the heater blaring. After a couple of minutes, I noticed an ominous red light glowing out of the side of the house. That seemed off to me since surely that couldn’t have anything to do with Anastasia’s clock. It wasn’t a weeknight and even if it was, it was still well past midnight. I remembered what she had told me about how I was still on Stage One. Maybe the fact that she was on a much later stage had something to do with what I was seeing. The fact that I was still on Stage One did, after all, seem like it had something to do with the fact that I was only threatened by the clock on weeknights.
My curiosity had gotten the better of me, and so I braved the cold and snow to go check out what was happening. There was a window on the side of the house. The curtains were left open so with the red light blaring from it, I could see inside fairly easily. Especially since the house was only one story, so it wasn’t like the window was too high up off the ground for me to see through, either.
My fears had been confirmed. Upon looking into the room, I could see exactly where the red light was emanating from: the clock on the nightstand. The face inside was as clear as ever. Every feature slowly growing, approaching the glass in front of the clock’s face. But it wasn’t looking at me. It was very clearly directing its vile and hateful gaze at the person under the covers.
The person had her head covered underneath the blanket, so I couldn’t directly tell who it was. But I figured it had to be Anastasia. For one, there was no way in hell anybody else in her family was playing Sleep Points too. I mean, what are the odds of that? And for another, the room pretty clearly looked like it belonged to a teenage girl about Anastasia’s age. Everything looked like it was pink and had all kinds of frills to it. I even noticed some boyband poster on the other end of the room. If this wasn’t the most stereotypical teenage girl’s room, I had no fucking clue what was.
Finally, 2 o’clock had come. I could see why she had told me 2:05. I had never seen the monster from the clock break out. I had always had my head under the covers whenever it happened. But since this was Anastasia’s clock and not mine and since the face in the clock was staring her down and not me, and since I had entire wall separating me from the thing, I guess I somehow managed to muster up the courage to watch the monster in action.
Suddenly, the hands and numbers of the clock’s face began to almost melt into the monster’s face. It had broken out of the sheet of glass holding it back. But that seemed to be the only thing that was broken. The rest of the actual clock remained pretty intact as the unspeakable thing from within started to slither out of the clock and onto the floor. Since the hands and numbers were still on its face, it kinda looked like they had been imprinted on it like some kind of tattoo artwork. It very quickly expanded in size and let out this unholy screech that I could hear very loudly even from behind the window. But Anastasia was still sleeping very peacefully. Totally motionless like nothing at all was going on.
It prowled around her bed, looking for the slightest sign of motion. It looked almost skeptically at her. As if it could tell whether she was really sleeping or not. And God only knows what would’ve happened to her if she wasn’t. Eventually the monster seemed satisfied with what he saw and shrunk himself down to his original size. He slid back into the clock and as he did so, there was one last glow of red light. The glass had been restored. It was now 2:01.

Hi all! Hope this is the right place to ask this.
My partner has a 2005 Suzuki XL-7 at around 200k miles with several expensive mechanical issues. The biggest one is the timing chain, which needs to be replaced in the next 3 months or so before it fucks up the engine. None of them are unfixable, but the last quote we got for repairs was around 6k, which we decided was too much for the condition and age of the car. We're going to get rid of it and find a different vehicle.
So my question is, what is the best way to sell this thing? We're leaning towards just getting cash from a scrap yard, but is it worth it to try and sell privately or to a dealership? (Not looking to do a trade in, we aren't planning to buy from a dealership) And if we list privately, how do we determine what it's worth? My partner only paid around $800 back in like 2018, but because of a combo of its mechanical issues and how inflated used car prices are at the moment, I'm not sure how we would determine that. Is this car even worth the effort to list it in the first place? We've never been in this situation before so any advice is appreciated.

Hi all, I bough a CPU i5 12400F, 16gb Kingston Ram and a Gigabyte Motherboard B760M DS3H DDR4 to upgrade my system.
What happens its that many times (every day) the CPU usage is huge - very above normal - even not using heavy programs that justifies that. Many times, I check task manager, and the CPU usage, is very high, when I was just on Windows folders, and browsing - nothing more. It reaches easily 60/70% CPU usage, and sometimes even 80/90/100% with no reason. Different task's, makes the CPU reaches almost the limit - check the pics. Even "Windows explorer" task, sometimes reaches 50-60% CPU usage, I’ve check that many times on Task manager. This happen with no apparent reason, I do not use heavy software. And with the exact same kind of usage, with my last PC which were half powerful and with half ram ( a 9400F with 8Gb Ram) Never had this issues, neither, a so high CPU usage. Since this CPU is double powerful in all aspects, wasn't expectable that the CPU, on the same kind of use, works with less effort and have less CPU usage?! Even the Windows Restart's/Boot, were more quick with my oldest Setup than on this Setup ( and I’ve already activate the Fast Boot on Bios). The only difference were, that my previous motherboard was an MSI ( a very low end H310M PRO-M2 PLUS model), and this actual one its a "new" Gigabyte B760M DS3H DDR4 model. Could the motherboard model/Brand are making all of this underperformance and issues ? At normal use, i can say, that i can't notice any kind of performance improvement with this new Setup ( that is twice powerful) I only do feel a better performance on games, but I’m a casual gamer, and i almost play CS:GO, and less more. The real difference is that with this Cup/mobo, anything I do reaches high CPU and energy usage very easily.
I have Windows Fresh install, no Virus, Adware. Bios Updated to last firmware. No background running programs. Just Windows 10 64bit with the essential's.
Other problem is the High CPU FAN RPM's ( and noise, obviously ). I know that the Stock Fans were not the most quiet, but for many years, i never bought an aftermarket Cooler, since I don't use heavy software, and even gaming I don’t play heavy CPU games, so the stock cooler is more than enough for the needs, and I’ve checked a review/noise test comparison on YouTube, and my Fan doesn't perform near close to that: https://youtu.be/yhKBABCfmpk?t=240 , and note, the CPU and cooler its the same. I wish, my Fan run so smoothly and constant, and specially so quiet like the one on the video.
This video show's a "little" of the random RPM's i am talking about, with windows idle, closed programs, just opening/switching between folder's, but I can say that usually is worst than the video, and phone mic it not capture the best sound, personally the FAN noise is much more aggressive, and usually the RPM'S are worst, (VERY) annoying and uncomfortable, Specially at night : https://streamable.com/523h6e
The CooleFan just ramp up quickly to High RPM's, by no reason and completely randomly, like if i were using the CPU with really heavy programs. Sometimes by just opening a Browser tab or a Folder is enough to listen the Fan ramping up Hard - what its not normal. And the most weird, is that the Fan randomly changes RPM's frequently. By itself, the CPU CooleFan is not quiet, but actually is running very above normal and making a lot of noise - much above the usual. The Fan could be working at 1500RPM'S, but by no reason, changes to 2000/2200RPM'S, sometimes 3000RPM'S - while using Windows - once again; no heavy programs, just windows, folders, and browsing. Fan randomly and constantly changes RPM'S , never stays idle, like the CPU are. At night, is almost impossible, stay with the PC turned ON.
Its not the 1st time, that i have the PC turned on, but I’m not using it. I sit on my bedroom, at some PC distance, and I listen the FAN ramping up Hard... like !?!? I'm not even using the PC lol its on idle, there are no programs running. How the Fan ramp up like if i was using the CPU heavily ? PS: I have my PC Case well good refrigerated ( tbh, due to this problem, and to test, the PC Case is opened - No differences ).
PS: I configured and tested FAN Profiles on Bios, and its on a Silent/Manual smooth Fan curve, even so the result, is what I’ve explained. Since, if I let the default Profile "Normal Fan", the problem is even worst, and the noise its impossible to stay near the PC, it's almost an airplane noise. But even with a very smooth Fan curve, I can hear the fan a LOT . But the Random RPM's ramp up's and down, even with a manual smooth Fan curve remains exactly the same. The Fan constantly changes RPM's (hardly), looks like and F1 car motor on a race lol.
I spend lot of hours testing ( I have some IT experience ), searching, reading, and I cannot find any solution, neither what could be the problem root. To me, should be a faulty motherboard, or CPU, but I make tests to the CPU, and on all of them everything seems ok, so, i think that the problem could be the motherboard. I've contacted Intel and nothing were detected. I've contacted Gigabyte and they just simple ignore the questions, they just told me to take the board to warranty – No troubleshooting, no help, nothing !
The questions is to, trying to know the cause of this issues, since I still have the chance to return mobo and CPU, and change for a better and stable hardware choices. But firstly I need to know and understand which device is causing troubles, if the CPU, if the Board. And my budget it's not very high, so, I would like to replace the part that is causing issues.
Do you consider Gigabyte a good motherboard brand for low/mid end range? It's the 1st time i give a chance to Gigabyte, usually i buy MSI, and honestly i was happy with motherboard's, and with the UEFI BIOS . But honestly i doesn't like the BIOS at all, and with this issues, makes me very sceptical to Gigabyte, at the same time I also feel like this motherboard doesn't have much stability ( i could be wrong). I bought this Gigabyte Mobo due to the price point, and they bring heatsink on (half) VRM and a heatsink to the SSD M.2 Nvme... Maybe i was caught by the Brand marketing. I have a Gigabyte Graphic Card and no issues, runs well. But for low/mid end motherboards, Gigabyte could not be the best option. I'm thinking to return this motherboard since i have 2more days to do it, and buy an MSI again or a Asus. But the last MSI I have was 3years ago, don't know how are they now. My last MSI was an H310M PRO-M2 PLUS, a super entry level motherboard, but always worked Flawlessly with a great performance and stability, and with a very Good UEFI BIOS and configuration options !
Is it from Windows ? Motherboard issues ? the CPU ?
If anyone got ideas, from what can be, I would appreciate. Since I search and tested everything and don't find nothing that tells me the cause.

Just had an HVAC guy out..seems very focused on replacement and it's going to be expensive. I have a Lennox AC (Elite XC-13 series) .probably 13 years old since house was built in 2010.
AC didn't seem to be keeping up (not too bad but could tell something was off). Noticed water dripping downstairs on the unit, not a lot and there was some dried blue residue on it too.
They guy barely looked at rhe unit downstairs and said bad news...he would check the condenser outside. Then called me outside where he had a meter hooked up to the condenser and said yep just like he thought the entire AC needs replaced. Said likely a leak and it is a closed system? Also said Lennox and Trane are crap and would only put in Goodman but would still be expensive.
I just got a really weird vibe that something wasn't on the up and up...but know nothing about HVAC. I said I would think about it. So outside he put in 6 pounds of refrigerant and then also put in a dye and will come back next week to see if he can find the leak and fix it...but may have to replace coils and quoted $1800. So it was kind of all over the place.
The whole thing was weird. He never went downstairs again. So where do you normally put in refrigerant and dye - outside in the condenser? Does this sound okay? Oddly enough seems to be running fine now. I know if there is a leak that it will likely happen again but is that an automatic replacement? Sorry I am sure this sounds dumb but my scam radar was going off big time.

As an owner of an ID.4, I suspect that a vw-Tesla partnership for nacs is unlikely. However, given that even existing ford and gm vehicles would get access to the supercharger network with an adapter, I’m curious as to what that partnership entails?
What prevents any CCS ev with an adapter from plugging in to a supercharger if a current ford or gm vehicle (which use the same ccs standard) can do so. Is it some software update on the vehicle side - that gm/ford will push out? Or will Tesla check that the vehicle being plugged in is from an “approved” manufacturer (or some other sort of software lock)?

The CooleFan just ramp up quickly to High RPM's, by no reason and completely randomly, like if i were using the CPU with really heavy programs. Sometimes by just opening a Browser tab or a Folder is enough to listen the Fan ramping up Hard - what its not normal. And the most weird, is that the Fan randomly changes RPM's frequently. By itself, the CPU CooleFan is not quiet, but actually is running very above normal and making a lot of noise - much above the usual. The Fan could be working at 1500RPM'S, but by no reason, changes to 2000/2200RPM'S, sometimes 3000RPM'S - while using Windows - once again; no heavy programs, just windows, folders, and browsing. Fan randomly and constantly changes RPM'S , never stays idle, like the CPU are. At night, is almost impossible, stay with the PC turned ON.
Its not the 1st time, that i have the PC turned on, but I’m not using it. I sit on my bedroom, at some PC distance, and I listen the FAN ramping up Hard... like !?!? I'm not even using the PC lol its on idle, there are no programs running. How the Fan ramp up like if i was using the CPU heavily ? PS: I have my PC Case well good refrigerated ( tbh, due to this problem, and to test, the PC Case is opened - No differences ).
PS: I configured and tested FAN Profiles on Bios, and its on a Silent/Manual smooth Fan curve, even so the result, is what I’ve explained. Since, if I let the default Profile "Normal Fan", the problem is even worst, and the noise its impossible to stay near the PC, it's almost an airplane noise. But even with a very smooth Fan curve, I can hear the fan a LOT . But the Random RPM's ramp up's and down, even with a manual smooth Fan curve remains exactly the same. The Fan constantly changes RPM's (hardly), looks like and F1 car motor on a race lol.
I spend lot of hours testing ( I have some IT experience ), searching, reading, and I cannot find any solution, neither what could be the problem root. To me, should be a faulty motherboard, or CPU, but I make tests to the CPU, and on all of them everything seems ok, so, i think that the problem could be the motherboard. I've contacted Intel and nothing were detected. I've contacted Gigabyte and they just simple ignore the questions, they just told me to take the board to warranty – No troubleshooting, no help, nothing !
The questions is to, trying to know the cause of this issues, since I still have the chance to return mobo and CPU, and change for a better and stable hardware choices. But firstly I need to know and understand which device is causing troubles, if the CPU, if the Board. And my budget it's not very high, so, I would like to replace the part that is causing issues.
Do you consider Gigabyte a good motherboard brand for low/mid end range? It's the 1st time i give a chance to Gigabyte, usually i buy MSI, and honestly i was happy with motherboard's, and with the UEFI BIOS . But honestly i doesn't like the BIOS at all, and with this issues, makes me very sceptical to Gigabyte, at the same time I also feel like this motherboard doesn't have much stability ( i could be wrong). I bought this Gigabyte Mobo due to the price point, and they bring heatsink on (half) VRM and a heatsink to the SSD M.2 Nvme... Maybe i was caught by the Brand marketing. I have a Gigabyte Graphic Card and no issues, runs well. But for low/mid end motherboards, Gigabyte could not be the best option. I'm thinking to return this motherboard since i have 2more days to do it, and buy an MSI again or a Asus. But the last MSI I have was 3years ago, don't know how are they now. My last MSI was an H310M PRO-M2 PLUS, a super entry level motherboard, but always worked Flawlessly with a great performance and stability, and with a very Good UEFI BIOS and configuration options !

i think one of old friends was dead. this is a bit of a rant because i just remember a majority of this.
(i don’t remember much of when i was fairly younger than i currently am (15) so i might be missing some details but i have been piecing together together who i met 5 years ago)
I remember sometime around February of my 5th grade year a girl seemed to appear out of nowhere. i didn’t have class with her but she was in the class right next door. (there were no door separating the 5th grade classes from each other only thin walls). she never really seemed to talk or interact with people and i rarely saw her myself. she was almost never at school and i don't think i ever heard the teacher call her name for attendance. she always sat alone at lunch and the few times she ever sat with other people (usually my friend group) she wouldn’t really talk to any of them. the only time she ever talked to me was when the other people around us were busy with something else or were looking away. i slowly got to know her bit by bit. her name was molly and she had a few brothers. she had brown hair that was always in a perfectly straight bob-cut and she only ever wore 5 shirts, the only one i can really remember was a light purple t-shirt with some white details and a cat on the front. she had a few freckles and her eyes were a pretty brown. she was very shy and wouldn’t really say much other than short sentences. Molly loved walking around the outskirts of the playground at recess but after the whistle blew and we had to go in she never seemed to line up with the rest of us. around the time my birthday was coming up and i was handing out invitations i really wanted to invite her to get to know her more because she seemed like a nice girl. i saw her when we were outside taking a short break from class when i began talking to her about it. i told her it would be a pool party at the rec-center in the next town over because it had a better pool. she told me she would try to make it but only if her dad would let her. she never gave me her dads number so i could give it to my mom yet she told me her dad would call my mom if she could make it. around this time some of my friends were approaching me and she noticed this, she seemed a bit frantic and told me to give her my hand. she pulled the plastic heart ring she was wearing and placed it in my hand saying “if i can’t make it to your party, this is my gift to you” before walking off. (after she gave me that ring i didn’t take it off for the rest of the year. some of my friends would ask me why i was wearing it because it was ugly. i would tell them that molly gave it to me but they would give me weird looks yet they never asked more than that about it.)the next day i didn’t see her but in my classroom mail box she left a little pink bear and a torn up cake squishy with a note reading something along the lines of “happy birthday this is the rest of my gift to you” she never made it to my party nor did my mom ever get a call. after that i didn’t see her again until a few weeks before school ended. our school was having us take tour of the middle schools we chose to go to. before i saw she was sitting alone in a section all the teachers said was empty. i asked her what school she was going to and she simply replied with “garden of the gods.” after that because i wanted to stay in touch with her i asked where she lived so i could visit her sometime. she described the old abandoned house on one of the outter streets of my neighborhood. that no had lived in in years. i told her that i would try and visit sometime that week with my mom to make sure it was the right house. molly nodded then walked off. at the end of that week me and my mom visited the old house, molly wasn’t there, neither was either brother or her dad, no one was in that house because like i said it was abandoned and never sold again after the last people to move in left right after hearing about what happened to the man in that house and how he died. after that interaction with her i never saw her again. not even at the end of the year assembly we were all required to go to for “bonding time” when the teachers were showing pictures of everyone who was in our current 5th grade classes molly was never brought up nor did she make in appearance in the year book as far as i remember. (i would check but i don’t have my yearbook anymore) after that, my mom and friends pestered me more and more about my ring until i eventually stopped wearing it. (i still have it but i repainted it after all the silver paint had came off it) i always told them it was a gift from molly but they had no idea who i was talking about so i stopped bringing her up until a little but ago with my mom. she told me she never remember the girl i was talking about she only remember that i was looking for someone. i told her that that was crazy because she was the one that gave me the ring and stuffy but nothing ever clicked. then we talked more about the house molly told me she lived in and my mom told me the last owners tried to sell it as quick ad possible because of the man who died there, but no one ever moved back it thats why the grass was never cut and it looked like it was starting to fall apart. eventually we started to consider the idea that molly was a ghost, it was just strange that i got a physical gift from her but it wasn’t impossible especially because of other incidents with spirits we had. i still have no idea what happened to molly or how she really was but i really do think she was simply a ghost and thats why no one remember her, i must have been the only one that could see her. i have met plenty of other ghosts but she is the first and only spirit to give me a physical gift. and don’t get me wrong i normally don’t mind meeting ghosts i just wish i knew she was one before i told the people that i did about her.

Hi all, I bough a CPU i5 12400F, 16gb Kingston Ram and a Gigabyte Motherboard B760M DS3H DDR4 to upgrade my system.
What happens its that many times (every day) the CPU usage is huge - very above normal - even not using heavy programs that justifies that. Many times, I check task manager, and the CPU usage, is very high, when I was just on Windows folders, and browsing - nothing more. It reaches easily 60/70% CPU usage, and sometimes even 80/90/100% with no reason. Different task's, makes the CPU reaches almost the limit - check the pics. Even "Windows explorer" task, sometimes reaches 50-60% CPU usage, I’ve check that many times on Task manager. This happen with no apparent reason, I do not use heavy software. And with the exact same kind of usage, with my last PC which were half powerful and with half ram ( a 9400F with 8Gb Ram) Never had this issues, neither, a so high CPU usage. Since this CPU is double powerful in all aspects, wasn't expectable that the CPU, on the same kind of use, works with less effort and have less CPU usage?! Even the Windows Restart's/Boot, were more quick with my oldest Setup than on this Setup ( and I’ve already activate the Fast Boot on Bios). The only difference were, that my previous motherboard was an MSI ( a very low end H310M PRO-M2 PLUS model), and this actual one its a "new" Gigabyte B760M DS3H DDR4 model. Could the motherboard model/Brand are making all of this underperformance and issues ? At normal use, i can say, that i can't notice any kind of performance improvement with this new Setup ( that is twice powerful) I only do feel a better performance on games, but I’m a casual gamer, and i almost play CS:GO, and less more. The real difference is that with this Cup/mobo, anything I do reaches high CPU and energy usage very easily.
I have Windows Fresh install, no Virus, Adware. Bios Updated to last firmware. No background running programs. Just Windows 10 64bit with the essential's.
Other problem is the High CPU FAN RPM's ( and noise, obviously ). I know that the Stock Fans were not the most quiet, but for many years, i never bought an aftermarket Cooler, since I don't use heavy software, and even gaming I don’t play heavy CPU games, so the stock cooler is more than enough for the needs, and I’ve checked a review/noise test comparison on YouTube, and my Fan doesn't perform near close to that: https://youtu.be/yhKBABCfmpk?t=240 , and note, the CPU and cooler its the same. I wish, my Fan run so smoothly and constant, and specially so quiet like the one on the video.

I (26M) grew up in a typical poor first gen viet family with all usual trauma. No privacy or boundaries, no dating until I finish my degree, no going out, no going to birthday parties. Didnt get a phone and pc until 16 and that was only because it was required for school.
At 18 I had enough and left home. I was completely socially stunted at this point and really struggled to get a job. Like at the interview they would ask how i was and i wouldn’t know how to answer or i would panic and saying something really dumb. I might aswell been mute.

Anyways, i managed to get shitty jobs in warehouses and factories that exploited the fuck out of me. I was making enough to live pay check to pay check working long hours everyday. I had no free time for hobbies or to improve my social skills. The only social interaction I had was at work with mainly immigrants who spoke to each other in their own language… so pretty much nil.
At 24, i got lucky and got a high paying job on an oil rig. Its a pretty masculine and racist industry. I struggled at first due to my lack of social skills and being weird (doing inappropriate stuff stemming from parents boundary issue) but had an empathetic non racist white guy who had an asian wife take me under his wing. Im now at a point now where my social skills is good enough for work. I bought my first car and learnt how to drive. Can afford gym and build muscles.
Fast forward til now, my health is good, i am going back to college for a stem degree (expected to grad at 30) so i can better work life balance. Hopefully with my degree ill be rich atleast, if i fail at everything else in life.
Kinda embarrassing but ive never been on a date or even know how to talk girls. I stopped talking to girls in like 6th grade cuz while waiting for my parents to pick me up after school i would talk to girls. My parents would embarrass me by asking the girl if she was my girlfriend. Like in 6th grade i didnt even have any attraction for girls. I didnt even know what sex was til 8th grade and thought babies came out of asses. For highschool they put in an all boys school.
Now that i have my shit kinda together i want to start dating. I dont wanna die alone and so much things i wanna do in life isnt really that great without someone that you care about. Someone that you can create and share memories with.
Im also not autistic so i have no excuse for being socially inept. Just missing out on those fundamental years in hs has caused me so many problems.
