So, from a pretty early age I used to get beaten up by my parents especially father over petty reasons, like spilling ink on clothes, forgetting to wear slippers while in the lawn and many other stuff. Today I've finally had enough
So for background knowledge I just gave my university entrance exams a few days ago and have literally nothing to do until college starts,I spend my days sometimes outing with friends or just sitting at home with my pc or phone like any other normal teen (17M). Today I got beaten the the shuttle out of me because I allegedly "overslept" and by overslept I mean I didn't get out of my bed by 7 a.m, Yes He kicked me , punched me , slapped me because I woke up at 7 a.m and not 5. Not to mention he's done things like these on many occasions and then brushed it off saying he was my father. I've seen how dads of my other friends are and I'm pretty sure no sane person would do something like over things like these ,sometimes I just want to hurt myself for getting sentenced to this Perpetual agony over the years but then calm myself down after thinking that I've only got a few days before I move out and never see his face again. Is it really okay to kick and punch someone over things like over sleeping or am I just getting paranoid?

I've gone from being a production cnc machinist with Live Tooling (and not needing much programming) to cnc programming on a manual cnc lathe and running manual lathes and mills in a job shop. Some things I'm trying to pick up quickly that I didn't need to know before are general ideas of feeds and speeds.. seems like everyone knows this but me 🤦‍♀️. In the rural area I'm in, it's pretty rare to find a machining job like this.. ranchers and other manufacturing companies bring their tractors and other broken machine parts in to have replacements fabricated.. lots of drilling and threading of all shapes and sizes.. no job is the same. Its fun and I've learned so much in the few months ive been here (11 years at other job). I've been youtubing almost every night.. just looking for general rule of thumb stuff that I can wrap my head around a little easier. TIA

one of my employees lives with his Aunt as a result of his mother having a stroke several years ago. His Aunt took full control of his mother and basically required him to move in and care for his mother. (something he feels he has a moral responsibility to do). However, his aunt is a bitch. she treats him as a personal slave and forces him to often miss work because the lawn isn't cut, her dogs haven't been fed, she needs lumber to fix the deck she's too fat to walk on. She constantly plays mind games and restricts access to utilities like power, internet, etc to "teach him a lesson". What lesson you might ask? The lesson that it's her house and her rules. To be clear, he diligently does chores and regular upkeep for her. She makes things up so that he purposely will miss work. He has had issues at past jobs because they would simply fire him for showing up late. He has told me she really doesn't want him working, because that means she has to do everything herself when he is gone all day and takes out her fury on him when he gets home at night.
My questions are this:
Are there any tenant laws (even though he doesn't pay to stay there) that can help him avoid abuse?
Are there any antislavery laws that may apply?
Does mental anguish qualify as Domestic Abuse?
Are there blackmail laws that may help as she is using the situation with his mother to personally profit (she has full Power of Attorney over his mother) and keep him subservient?

I really want to help him. I've tried talking to him about getting leasing another place, but he is determined not to abandon his mother (which I totally understand).

Me and my family just recently moved into a new neighborhood. The first month was no problem from neighbors. A month later one afternoon I was sitting in front of my house in my car and all of sudden a woman comes out of nowhere and proceeds to bang on my driver side car window. I rolled my window down a little bit to speak and she then accuses me by saying she saw me hitting my neighbors bricks who lives directly next door to me and driving on their grass. I told her she was mistaken and that I never hit anyones bricks. She then proceeds to blow her cigarette smoke in my car. I then get out of the car and speak to her as I don't want her to continually blow her cigarette smoke in my car. I then asked her where she lives and she tells me she lives at the corner house while still blowing her cigarette smoke in my face. It seemed like she was doing all of this out of pettiness but as we were new to the neighborhood I decided not to start and argument and just politely ended the conversation. She then walks down to the corner house and turns the corner to another street. I thought nothing of it until a week later come to find out she doesn't live at the corner house and that she actually lives directly cross the street from me. I had hardly seen her or crossed paths so when she initially came up to my car I had no idea who this woman was. Please stay with me because this is where the madness begins. A week later I was leaving out for work. Now mind you I park my car on the street in front of my house sometimes and as you know you sometimes have to drive in a neighbors driveway when parking on the street to turn around. I did just that but instead of using the neighbors across the street driveway (cigarette lady) I decided to use the neighbor who lives directly next door to her to avoid any problems with cigarette lady since she lied and accused me of something I didn't do. As I was driving in this lady's driveway (who lives next door to cigarette lady) I ENSURED I didn't drive on her grass since again me and my family are new to the street and also since the cigarette lady has already made up a lie about me driving on someone else's grass I didn't want anymore problems. As I drove in her driveway was I went slow and made sure I didn't drive all the way in her driveway only up to the sidewalk. This lady then runs out her back door and comes up to her gate and yells something at me. I rolled my windows down and asked her what did she say because I didn't hear her. She then says "Don't get on my motherfucking grass". I was in complete shock. Because I made sure I wasn't on her grass and that I drove slow. I then say to her "You don't have to speak to me like that I never met you. You're being very ignorant with me. I'd appreciate it if you not talk to me in that manner" she then says "I don't give a fuck don't drive on my fucking grass, bitch" After this we get into a brief argument and I drive a way. When I come home she's already waiting on her porch and I was prepared to ignore her as I was still in shock someone could talk to someone like that who've never down anything to them. She then "Hey, I wanted to apologize for earlier." and I then say I do not accept your apology kindly as If Im being honest I was still upset by the names she called me. After I declined her apology she then says "Nevermind bitch". I knew then none of this was going to be good. I concluded that night that what might have triggered her to lie and say I was on her grass was because the cigarette lady told her I drove my neighbors grass so when I drove in her driveway she already had preconceived notions about me off of what she has heard from cigarette lady. Ever since then her and the cigarette lady has went to half the neighbors on our street lying to them telling them that I did this, that, and the third as if Im bullying them for no reason. Other neighbors has chosen "their side" because other neighbors would say stuff to me as Im walking my dog or when I wave at them they blatantly don't wave back. Whenever I would water my grass cigarette lady and driveway lady would get on one of their porches and gossip about me. I just ignore them until a week ago. Last week I decided to take my dog on a walk around the neighborhood as I normally do. Usually when I walk my dog I try to stay on my side of the street to avoid further confrontation but and sometimes I walk my dog on both sides cigarette lady and driveway lady side of the street as well as my own. And I decided to walk on both sides. As I began to walk my dog, driveway lady then looks out her front door and then rushes out her back door to walk her dog. I then said I will try to talk to her today and try to end the conflict. So I walked my dog to the corner of our street and waited for her to come around the block to speak to her. And I did I spoke to her and also mentioned to her I don't like the things she been doing and that it's ridiculous she has involved all the neighbors. She then said yes "I told everyone, I will keep telling everyone" from there I knew she was insane. So I politely asked her to stop the drama with my family and I and leave us alone and walk away and she agrees and we go our separate ways. Out of nowhere her mother and father pulls up in the middle of the street then jumps out the car and begin to yell at me. Mind you this lady is about 41 years old. I knew this was her parents because she called them mom and dad. I then say a few words back and just go home. I didn't even get to finish walking my dog. I go home lay down and 30 minutes later the police shows up at my door saying that the "driveway" lady parents called and told them I was walking my dog on the wrong side of the street and that I have been harassing her and the neighbors. I then ask him is it a crime to walk by dog on a public side walk although I always make sure my dog doesn't poop on anyones lawn. He says no and then actually agrees that her calling the police on me was ridiculous and that I have every right to walk my dog on either side of the street. So after that the police gives me an incident report number and I go inside. The police then goes over to driveway lady's front yard and speak to her and her family. So decided to walk my dog again since I didn't get to finish walking him the first time and I thought this was the perfect time since the police was there. I began walking my dog and this time I was going to walk around the corner to a different street. As I passing by the corner house on my street to go around the corner to a different street a man and his wife are on their porch starring at me with anger in their eyes I just looked away and kept walking. Then the woman on the porch goes "Who the fuck are you starring at" I said "I don't know you" and she then jumps off the porch and goes "Im [insert name] who the fuck are you" I tried to keep walking before I know it she's slapping me upside my head. Before I can defender myself the police who was once talking to "driveway" lady then runs up puts me in handcuffs then gives me a ticket for disorderly conduct. They then let me go and gave me my ticket. I was in tears and in shocked that this was really happening to me. I then told my family about it who lives near and my brother rush over and confronts the lady and her husband. Apparently she claims that I have been bullying "driveway" lady and that I'm a horrible person which is why she attacked me. The police refused to give her ticket for assault as they said "They didn't see anything" I know this was very long but what do I do. We have a court date set as well. She I hire a good lawyer or do I even have a case. Pertaining to the neighborhood do I contact city council? Where do I go from here?

So, tomorrow's the big move. Aziraphale is packed up and ready (for....the most part. I'm just moving across town so his water CAN come with us and will remain cooled and ready to go, it's literally like a 5 minute drive, but his water is still in his tank. His stuff will be the last stuff in the uhaul and the first stuff to get moved in.) And Zira's a little mad at me, as I'm sure anyone would be if I snatched their tank decor for safe moving and was only able to provide a temporary hide for this evening. He's a bit peeved with me. That's fair. But here's the last thing I need to do for this laddie. ... How big of a container should I move him in? I know I can move him in an airtight container "large enough to accomodate the animal" but what does this mean realistically? Like I'm not tossing him in the bucket with his tank water to slosh around the back of a uhaul, that's NOT happening, boy is getting carried by hand to the new place. He's about 7.5 inches long nose-to-tail, not the biggest boi out there, but larger than a goldfish yknow. I still have the ice pack the breeder sent with him when he was delivered to me nearly 2 years ago, as well as some homemade ice packs for the move. The plan is to stick him in an insulated bag with his ice-packs wrapped up snugly in an air-tight tupperware container, surrounded with papertowels so he doesn't move too much, and then to be carried by-hand to a safe place (likely the fridge) during the ~hour it'll tank to set up his tank. All in all, I doubt he'll be out of his tank for more than 2 hours tops. But I don't want him to have more stress than nessecary during this time. How big of a container should I be preparing for him? Will he be fine in a container where he sits slightly curved, or should I go for something he can fully stretch out in? There's no perfect solution to decreasing stress when moving, but I want to do everything I can to ensure my gilled friend makes it through this trip.

In need of some help here people! I'm rebuilding a small lawn tractor engine B&S Model 279707. The reason why I'm rebuilding it is because it has to much compression and it would have a hard time to start and it also back fire a lot. I took the engine completely a part, I put new valves, valve spring all new gasket, I also clean the piston, camshaft, crankshaft and valve tapers. The piston and piston ring as well the camshaft and crankshaft all looks really good condition. I put everything back together and I'm still getting to much compression. I made sure valve clearance was set proper .008 for intake valve and .012 on the exhaust valve and still having issues. Any suggestion please will be very appreciated. Thanks

My experience with landscaping is pretty minimal, so I thought I’d go ahead and post here.
There is a woman in my neighborhood who is literally pulling out the grass in her lawn one strand at a time. Every time we drive by, she’s on all fours plucking her grass out one by one. Right now her lawn is just patches of dirt and grass. Is there a reason that she would do it this way?
Her lawn looks terrible, but I’m not even worried about that. I’m worried if she’s okay, my heart breaks every time we pass her. My question is, is this normal, or is there a reason for this?

I work at a home depot in alberta and anyone who knows alberta weather knows we get really cold winters with a lot of snow. My building has a flat roof so obviously snow gathers and when it melts the water needs somewhere to go. around march when the snow started melting (i was a headcash at the time) i noticed water dripping from one of my exit doors. i followed standard procedure informed the MOD and put a bucket and wet floor sign. a few days later after my department transfer i was called by the frantic headcash that the door was pouring water. i rushed over and was able to stuff the door full of clothes and that stopped the leak, i had to change said clothes every 2-3 hours because the leak would start again. that’s when i noticed the peeling paint and what looked to be rot in the moulding. for nearly a month i pestered my managers every day asking when it would be fixed and the moulding was soaked and pressing on it would make it drip. it’s been 3 months and nothing has been done and today i found out our break room and bathrooms are being redone at this i was livid, yes sure that’s nice but maybe fix the rotting moulding first?! or the lumber doors that are always closed or always open but no. i was talking to one of my favourite older coworkers and he told me how he got an asm suspended with an email to the corporate leadership so i spent about an hour (on the clock) getting all their emails and sending them the photos. i sent it to mike rowe the vp, hr, and operations VPs. if nothing gets done after this i give up. i’m great at my job and i can be bad at it if i want to, no skin off my back they won’t fire the person who harassed me so they won’t be firing me.

1. I have some patches of some other warm season grasses growing in my front lawn. Is my only option removing the other grass and resodding or is there a herbicide I can use that will target everything that is not St Augustine.
2. Anyone figured out a good way of removing it that doesn't involve renting a sod cutter? I want to add a new bed next to my driveway that is too narrow to use a sod cutter for. Over the years I have tried a number of techniques/tools for removing St Augustine but it's always been backbreaking work. Anyone have a technique which works for them?

I have a decent shot at getting a bucket truck and moving up from ftth and smb, and I’m trying my absolute best to prepare for my interview.
So far the questions and knowledge I have got from other techs are as follow.

1. What does the plant operate on “AC/DC/RF”
2. What is a tap. My response a demarcation point to the home furthermore represents distance to the amp depending on value.
3. Be honest about what you don’t know and use the resources available to you.

I am open to any and all advice or questions to research on my own. My interactions with maintenance in the field has been pretty limited, thanks in advance.

Background info: We're progressing well on a house, est. to close on 7/3.
I want to put 5% down on the $245k house shown (Midwest MCOL), to get the monthly payment at a comfortable level (below $2k), but that also drags our most liquid form of savings down to a questionable amount. We have other near- liquid assets we could leverage in emergencies, but ofc would like to avoid that. With our monthly payment, we'd still be looking at putting $1000-1500 back in savings per month (probably not counting the first month or two - assuming it will all be spent on moving and buying things) and I'll be getting a $3k bonus next month.
We have a very full 2bdrm/1 bath apartment, going into a 3 bdrm/1.5 bath house.
We know we need a fridge, washer, and dryer - so budgeting around $3k there. All the other appliances are good and new, so - makes sense to round out the set and get the remaining needs new, too.
We're being given a lawn mower and are supposed to make a list of other smaller things our parents can help get for us or give us from hand-me-downs or dupes.
My ask: Please please help me think of a list of other lawn care, basic maintenance (we have a solid full toolbox), and must-haves I'll need the first month to help me figure out what I should plan to ask for from family vs. buy on our own! That'll help me nail down the down payment percentage and budget out the rest.
