2023.06.08 20:32 bonjour-robot The same people who call the younger generation weak are saying that they shouldn't be allowed to read books because books will make them feel sad.
I tried to post this on
showerthoughts but it was immediately removed. Anyways, I read one of those trash news pieces today with the slide show and it was all about how people's childhoods were ruined because they read Of Mice and Men. One of them did claim that their 5th grade school teacher read Steven King to them, which as someone who attended American schools, I can't help but think they are probably lying. But if that is true, I would agree that it was inappropriate. Still, the other ones were pretty ridiculous along the lines of kids should have no idea what is going on the world.

2023.06.08 20:32 randomnate LTR is reminding me of how much fun it is when most Magic cards have evocative flavor text that isn't just a joke
The increase in mechanical complexity and sheer wordcount of rules text on Magic cards over time has naturally crowded out the number of cards that have room for flavor text. I haven't run the numbers, but my sense following the game over time is that the further back you go, the more cards have flavor text.
But its not just that flavor text is rarer than ever, the flavor text we do get is often given over to jokes. It seems like in most sets there are Story Spotlight cards, which are small in number and focused on getting across the key events in the set, and then a high percentage of the rest of the flavor text will be pretty humorous in tone (and often sort of modern-sounding in vocabulary and cadence). There just aren't a lot of cards in modern Magic sets that make room for flavor text that isn't trying to be funny or summarize a key event in the story, but instead is just a cool and evocative quote.
LTR feels like a huge throwback on that front, and personally I love it. So many cards have flavor text, and because its all lifted straight from Tolkien, its all well-written and almost none of it is jokey or modern-sounding. Of course there's still some room for humor in there, mainly with the Hobbits but also fun in-jokes via mechanics like Shadowfax literally "showing the meaning of haste", but this isn't basically treating the lore as an excuse for a bunch of Marvel-esque bathos the way some other recent sets have.
Nor is it one big "story spotlight" all about recapping what happened.
Instead, it's just banger quote after banger quote that are earnest, evocative and compelling, that get across the feel of the world and the nature of the characters. It takes me back to being a kid when reading the flavor text on Magic cards was a real part of the fun and appeal and helped immerse me in the fiction and lore.
Obviously having Tolkien to effectively write all your flavor text is an advantage no other Magic set can ever have, but I hope going forward they look at this set as a bit of a model for how you can make a modern day MtG set that makes room for flavor text that goes beyond jokes and story spotlights.

2023.06.08 20:32 OneAnimeBoi My parents are killing me
So I’m a good student, out of 400+ kids, I’m 59th in my class, which is amazing. My grades right now are all As with the exception of three, so 4/7 are As, but the other three are two B+s and a B, my dad says to me that if I don’t get all As I’m grounded for the entirety of summer break, he already grounded me the beginning of June because I have Bs even though he grounded me for March-early May for my grades, but nothing has ever ended up being below a B. I don’t wanna be grounded for half of the damn year, and I think it’s extremely unfair that he’s gonna ground me for 3 months because I don’t have all As, what can I do? My parents won’t even listen because they think if I have Bs I’m “average and mediocre” and that means I don’t care about my grades and I wanna be average and don’t wanna go to college and I won’t be successful because I get Bs. My mom also said while she was pissed at me for my Bs that if I went to college and messed up in college she’d kill me for wasting her money, I just. I feel like a failure and I’m so tired of being yelled at and punished for having good grades 😅 they’re really inconsolable

2023.06.08 20:31 scarlet-sea r/ADHDUK discord!
Hi everyone! We’re in the process of setting up a discord for the subreddit, and would love to hear some of your ideas about what you’d like to see in it and how you’d like it to function.
We don’t want too many channels (adhd problems!) but this is meant to be a space for the community as a whole, so we want it to reflect that.
Sound off below with your ideas/thoughts/questions, and we’ll do our best to set up something cool :)
We don’t have a super clear idea of when it’ll be reading (again…ADHD) but we’re hoping it won’t be too long.
If you’ve already got a discord that people from the sub use, pop us a modmail if you want to combine/ lead on this because we don’t want to tread on your toes!
Thanks! :)

2023.06.08 20:31 Lynskey5150 The Unpopular Truth? Ultrarunning has Lost its Edge
I've been in the ultrarunning game for a good while now, and I have some concerns that I've been mulling over. I want to share them with you all, even though I suspect they won't be the most popular opinions.
First off, ultrarunning doesn't feel like a challenge anymore. It's just become a monotonous slog. Remember when we first started? All the variables to figure out - how to fuel, what pace to hold, all that jazz. But once you've cracked the code, what's left? There's no variation, no spice. It's just go slow and keep going slower. It's just not exciting anymore, you know?
And here's a curveball - I think my fitness has actually gone downhill. Yep, you heard me right. Despite the miles and miles I run, I feel like I'm gaining weight. Where's the high-intensity, the anaerobic workout that really gets the blood pumping and calories burning? I feel like my body's gone on strike.
And then, there's the community. Maybe it's just my perception, but ultrarunning seems to have become elitist. I mean, who else has the time to train for these massive distances? And the cost - the gear, the race registrations, the travel... it's becoming a hobby for those who can afford it, not for everyone. It's a far cry from the democratic, accessible sport it once was.
I've also noticed a lack of diversity. Have you seen the start line of most ultramarathons? It's predominantly white. Where's the representation? Our sport should be for everyone, not just a privileged few. And that's a problem, folks.
I feel like I've fallen out of love with ultrarunning. It's like I've seen behind the curtain, and what's there isn't pretty. It's become a time-consuming, fitness-reducing, elitist hobby, and that's a real shame.
What do you all think? Am I just a disillusioned old-timer, or are there others out there who feel the same?

2023.06.08 20:31 RinkyDinka Put on PIP, requested reasonable adjustments, instead being made redundant
I had a PIP sprung on me by surprise in my annual appraisal.
The reasons for the PIP hadn't been shared with me previously, but taking them at face value they seemed to be linked to ADHD (which I was diagnosed with about 10 years ago)
I therefore asked for an OH referral before being placed on the PIP so my company had some insight into where I may need support in the form of adjustments. The company had been aware of my ADHD prior to this but had never offered an OH referral, and I’d not requested adjustments as I had no idea I wasn’t performing as expected. After some deliberation the company agreed to this.
The OH referral took months, and concluded I’d likely be considered disabled at tribunal and some adjustments were suggested. These adjustments still haven't been implemented.
This week however I've been told my role is at risk of being made redundant. They’ve not shared the selection criteria yet but they’ve been very specific about the number of people who’ll be leaving the company and it would seem precisely that number have been contacted to say they’re at risk. The total is under 20.
While I believe the need for redundancies is legitimate, this feels like a way to sidestep having to make adjustments with a view to actually improving performance, their original concern, but realistically do I have any recourse? Might I argue that their selection criteria, the ones relating to performance at least, might be unfair as they’d have been assessing me without adjustments in place? Do I have a leg to stand on?
Less than two years service, and I'm in England btw.
Thanks!

2023.06.08 20:30 kisforkimberlyy Should r/Microbiome participate in the upcoming Reddit blackout, to protest planned API changes?
Hello everyone!
Reddit has recently announced significant changes to their API function. This has proved hugely controversial, and in response many subreddits - including
major default communities - plan to participate in a site-wide protest. This would consist of a 48 hour blackout, from Monday 12th June - in which these subreddits would go “private”, meaning users cannot see or post to these communities.
We would like to discuss our potential participation in this blackout with the
Microbiome community, in order to make a collective decision on our action.
For a detailed explanation of what is changing and why this is important you can go
here, and
here.
The TL;DR of the matter is that Reddit is adamant in changing conditions in the way that third-party tools interact with the site itself, making it harder and more expensive for apps and tools developed by outsiders to continue to exist.
Many Redditors exclusively use third-party apps for their browsing experience, so this will have a significant impact. Third-party apps and features are also crucial to several key moderation tools - removing these will make the subreddit harder to moderate, especially if tools to catch ban evaders and bad faith users are harder to maintain which we have had a problem with in the past.
As a general rule,
Microbiome has never previously participated in site-wide blackouts but since this has such far-reaching implications, we wanted to bring this to a community vote.
In any case, as we are primarily here to serve the desires of the user base, we would put this subject to debate, and ask the community for feedback and guidance on what to do regarding this issue. This will include a poll, to help us further gauge opinion.
The question is:
Should Microbiome
participate in the upcoming site-wide blackout, planned to start on the 12th June, for 48 hours? Should we be prepared to hold out for even longer, as many subs vowed to? (Thank you to
Soccer for the template for this post.)

2023.06.08 20:30 MeowTownSupreme [Hobby~Revshare] A pensive Myst-Inspired collaboration?
Hi! I am a longtime fan of Myst, the 1993 computer game. I remember playing it in the early 90's with family, and i think it is still my favorite game of all time actually!
I used to do informal game development as a teen, but i have not done much game playing or game making since then, except up until recently, as I'm currently rediscovering the magic, and getting back into game dev after 20 years away from it!
My question is:
> Would anyone like to work together to create a modern-day Myst-like equivalent?
It would be inspired by the feel of the original Myst itself (and not so much the sequels).
The goals are for maximum simplicity as much as possible while striving for the zenful, pensive, immersive feel, through vivid hinting, suggestion, and prompting. Scenic and contemplative, embracing stillness.
We'll probably be using something like a VGA/CRT/scanlines/dithering/low-res effect to replicate the feel of the 1993 original, such as seen here
https://ibb.co/428Khnr . And, i am thinking it to be in an entirely Still-image format, no camera motion at all! (The goal is to spur the imagination of the player, as a good book does, rather than showing them explicitly.)
There would be full orientation toward the "less-is-more" idea.
I am open to any thoughts, but i can mention some of my brainstorm examples:
I have been throwing around the idea of fire (campfires mainly, and maybe candles, lanterns, matches, torches) as a potential central theme component (kind of like how Books were central in the original). This is because (camp)fire connects to the idea of social bonding, especially during humanity's earliest days, as well as being the core root of all technological development in the birth of civilization. I also was hovering around ideas of monolith/obelisk(s), for their general feel, or in vague alliteration to 2001 Space Odyssey. Also i can't shake my affinity to include Books as a major element in some way too.
Maybe we'll integrate the four seasons, or day-twilight-night pluralities in some way. Gently-displayed text and sensory input, ambient sounds and subtle observationals, could play centrally. Lateral thinking challenges abound. There could maybe be themes on: the passage of time, the idea of sameness through past and future, or an emphasis on the mentality of just existing, rather than on playing to get to an end of a story.
At the intro, we'll ask the player to make sure there are no distractions, no noise or light pollution, ask that they put their phone in a separate room. Maybe we'll even ask that they have no "mental distractions" either, nothing on their mind bothering them, before they start playing..
There could be various small "archeological sites" in the world, that hark back to various stages in human history, that end up tying into a grander theme, unknown at the beginning, but gradually becoming clear as time progresses. Perhaps stargazing or astronomy would be linked somehow, such as in the sense of solstice/equinox at such sites?
Or, we may go away from the anthropological elements and focus on a local story inspired by the first Myst game... But i want the player's exploration and development to be central, and story comes second, like an accompaniment.
Those are some of the ideas floating around, they may change, and others will follow which are still unforeseen.
Would any open-minded individuals with their heart in the same spirit like to collaborate on such a project?
I figure there will be a need for roles such as: concept artist, 3d artist, story writer, programmer, musician, sound, and an actor or two, as i realize the portrayals of Atrus and his sons were a major driver in imbuing their story forward. Overall i hope to garner a small group, comprising generally folks with similar tastes, to throw ideas off of each other in brainstorming, and later in the ongoing refinement of the directions and particulars of the story.

2023.06.08 20:30 Delustz Do people still get “live in” domestic help ?
Given todays economic struggles my wife and I are both working 50 hours a week and often out of town to get ahead. At the end of the day both of us are completely spent and have zero energy for keeping the house up and maintaining our acrage🙄
We’re both considering how we should deal with this and the idea of a “house spouse / domestic help” came up. The idea being someone would live with us, be given room and board and a stipend to spend in exchange for this kind of help.
Anyone have experience with this?

Hi everybody, so I installed parsec on my pc to play the lego games with my mate but it has fucked with the majority of other games I have on my pc. My controller has completely stopped working on multiple games even after I've factory reset my pc and got rid of parsec entirely. For instance rocket league now believes that I have two controllers instead of just the one I have plugged in where as fortnite, stardew Valley, fallout 3 and grounded will not pick up any button presses on my controller no matter how hard I spam the buttons in anger. I have absolutely no idea how to fix this issue and it is pissing me off to no end. Has anybody else encountered this problem and if so how did you fix it?

2023.06.08 20:30 lalalady456 How do you know if repressed memories are real? (Trigger warning - incestual SA/SH)
I know for a fact my mom physically and emotionally abused me as a kid. I always thought of my dad as the good parent, my favorite parent, my hero because I thought he never abused me and he’s also a really sweet, funny, fatherly type of guy. However last night I had some repressed memories come up of him inappropriately as a child and even as a teen. Not like actual full on molestation/anything with my genitals, but inappropriate touching/spanking as a kid and a teenager, and inappropriately kissing me w/tongue on at least one occasion as a kid. The kissing one I’m really struggling with deciphering if it’s real, I think because I really don’t want it to be real. (I know the spanking thing is and I had stuffed that one down but it’s vivid enough and happened enough that I know that one is real). I’m especially scared of the kissing one because what if it’s real - does that mean he did more bad things to me?
Do parents ever do something like that on one occasion (still not okay) but not multiple or do other worse things? Does it make that abuse not necessarily okay but not that traumatic if it happened once?
My mom hit me for my entire childhood, but I also wonder for kids who have only ever been hit one, does that somehow make it not as bad as if they weren’t cyclically hit (obviously it’s still fucked up though)? Like do parents even do such bad things once but never again?
I feel paralyzed. I don’t know how to process this. I don’t know what to do. I don’t think there’s anything I can do at this moment in time.
I had come to a good spot with processing and coping with the other child abuse (physical and emotional), but I feel like if I was sexually abused (even if it only happened once) by my dad just makes it all so much worse. He was supposed to be the good parent. I thought he was the parent that never hurt me and helped me when I was hurt. And now that’s all gone.
How can parents be simultaneously really good parents sometimes while also really hurting there children? My parents have become really good parents as an adult now because they can’t abuse me the same way they did when I was a tiny kid who couldn’t fight back. However that doesn’t make what they did to me growing up okay or any better. I don’t know how to feel or what to think or if I should estrange myself from them even though things have been going well for years.
PS: I am in therapy and I am going to tell my therapist about this (she already knows about my moms child abuse).
PPS: Do not tell me I need to forgive them. That’s a very victim blaming mentality and I can’t take someone telling me that right now.

2023.06.08 20:30 tech-head27 I tried NITRO Studio for 90 Days. Here's what happened.
I decided to try NITRO Studio from Crow Canyon Software for 90 days to see how hard it would be to implement and if it would ROI. My goal going into it was to automate various workflows and forms that we use a lot.
A little backstory about our set up. We use SharePoint on prem. We have dabbled in Power Platform, but have found it gets pretty pricey once premium connectors come into the picture, so we decided to give this a whirl with the idea that if it works, it would save us a nice chunk of change.
Getting started wasn’t bad. Crow Canyon Software got us set up pretty quickly and we also purchased support hours to have a little extra help getting started. They seem to be mostly based in the US, which was nice (so am I) and maybe some in India. For someone who is familiar with SharePoint, it’s pretty easy to jump into. If you are a SharePoint newbie you may need some extra training to get up to speed but it isn’t rocket science. They offer phone, email, and chat support, so you have a few options. I had some scheduled calls to get started, but I also like that they have a KB and chat support if I need quick help in the middle of something.
Creating forms was pretty simple. It’s all drag and drop but you can also customize it, which was good for us to have it sync up with our corporate branding. Overall, this part was pretty flexible and easy. Again, if you know SharePoint, this part should be a breeze.
Workflows were simple too. Again, it’s all drag and drop and pretty straightforward.
If you aren’t a tech-head, you can get this set up without any coding, but of course if you want to code, you can.
These two pieces met my primary goal for NITRO Studio. They were easy to set up and implement. I started with just a handful of workflows for our most common tasks and also automated some of our most commonly used internal forms. I kept it at that for the initial test, because frankly, I wanted to see if it was worth continuing with before putting too much into it, but I was pretty happy with the results. Ramp up time wasn’t too bad and I think it helped a lot that it lives in the M365 environment. We have tried some other third party workflow builders in the past and just didn’t have a good adoption rate internally. People seemed to take to this pretty well and we definitely found it saved time and helped reduce errors we were seeing in some of our workflows (people forgetting to follow through).
All in all, at the end of my little 90 day experiment, I’m pretty satisfied. We have decided to continue with NITRO Studio and build more forms & workflows here. I’m working my way through other processes and getting a pretty good ROI. Definitely paying a lot less than I was for Power Platform and it’s getting the job done so I really can’t complain.

2023.06.08 20:30 4non3mouse POF is a cesspool of scammers and spammers - PSA
Im recently single again, checked out POF and man is that place a mess. It is just full of women's profiles that are either obvious scams, spammers or haven't logged in since 2017. I'd assume its the same for women there looking for men as well.
I used yahoo personals back in like 06 and if you tried to put your email or any contact info in your bio to get around paying for the service yahoo would block it. Yet half the people on the near me section have snapchat or some blowjob website in their tagline. In my search parameter I have selected to only show women who are 46-56 that live within 25 miles. But the "nearby" feature shows me 22 year olds and the "meet me" shows women in other states.
If somebody even looks at your profile the system flags this as somebody "liked you" even though all they did was look and never hit the like button. This is of course to get you to pay and you cant just buy a month and see how it goes, its 60 bucks for 3 months.
Back when I used yahoo personals it had a lot of women who were maybe being coy about their age, saying they were 33 when they looked 50ish. PoF is full of profiles of women who look 22 saying they are in their 50s or even 60's.
So if you are going to use PoF be very careful. You can do a google image search by right clicking the photo and select 'search image with google" and then at the top of the search box that comes up select find image source. Its amazing how many fake profiles use images of porn stars or tik tok creators.
if the person wants to immediately use snapchat or something other than text that is another tell tale sign of a potential scam. If they give you a phone number do a search to see if its a voip (voice over internet protocol) number like google voice. If it comes up as a voip they may just not want to give out their real number so ask them if its their cell and see if at least they are honest about it.
Please post your PoF horror stories here and share any other tips or stuff I missed!
Be safe out there people!

2023.06.08 20:30 Coc_Alexander Difference between getApplicationContext(), getBaseContext(), getContext() and MainActivity.this
Before starting we need to understand what is
Application What is an Application? An application is a singleton base class which represents your app. An application has various components like
Activity,
Broadcast Receiver,
Service, etc. An application has different lifecycle than your components. Like activity's lifecycle ends when user exits the application but application's lifecycle is terminated when application is killed(like deleting from recent apps forcefully by user, by android system to free up resources). Not going into other as that will be goint too much off-topic.
getApplicationContext() returns the context associated to the Application class. Uses
- When you need to initialize a resource that is used globally. Like in Room initializing database we use applicationcontext, so as some service can modify the database and our activity can use it to put information in UI and Content Providers can fill database. Different component of application change same database. As you may deduce, if you have initilized it with other context like getBaseContext, you will get error when you update database by server when main activity is destroyed.
- You need applicationContext to access application-level context like String resource, Drawable resource, Color resource, etc. Accessing these via other context may result in Resources.NotFoundException at RunTime.
- Performing actions that persists throughout the entire application lifecycle, especially for long-lived operations or operations that span multiple activities or components. Like you have a FileObserver observing(it means notifying whenever there is a change) a directory and you activity is not active. You received an update. Now you need applicationContext to do whatever you want to do with that file.
getBaseContext() returns the context associated to the current activity. Uses
- When you need to pass a context to another component that requires a context, such as starting a new activity or creating a dialog. You may get Theme-related errors as the applicationContextdoes not have information about the current theme or style applied to the activity. As a result, attempting to access resources that depend on the theme (such as layout files or styles) may lead to resource-not-found or resource-mismatch errors. UI related error may occur as applicationContext is not directly connected to the activity, so attempt to manipulate UI elements or access methods related to the activity's lifecycle (such as findViewById or startActivityForResultmay result in null pointer exceptions.
- When you need to access activity-level resources like String.xml(you can, though very rarely, create a String.xml file for activity using appropriate qualifiers).
- Using activity specific operation or classes like SharedPreference, you need applicationContext
getContext() returns context present in
Views,
Fragments, etc. Uses
- It is useful for accessing resources, inflating layouts, or performing operations tied to the specific component. Same as activity, if you have defined resource file specific to a view using qualifier it wouldn't work.
In most of the situation you can replace getContext() with getApplicationContext or getBaseContext
MainActivity.this is explicitly used by some libraries
This was my first article on this subreddit. Please tell me if I am wrong anywhere or you would like to add a point in this article.

2023.06.08 20:30 seochatter Organic Keywords In Search Engine Optimization
Organic keywords are a type of keyword that helps you get free traffic to your website using search engine optimization (SEO). They are the words and phrases that people use to search for information on the internet that can lead users to your content.
Therefore, it’s important to understand what organic keywords are, why they’re important, and how they work in your SEO strategy.
Note: There’s a dedicated guide on this topic over at the SEO Chatter blog here:
Organic Keywords, but this post includes the most important highlights to help you quickly understand the topic of organic keywords in SEO.
Organic Keywords An organic keyword lets visitors discover your website without clicking on an ad. Organic keywords are free to target vs paid keywords that require money to rank for in the search engines.
Organic keywords are important for SEO because:
- They help you improve your website’s visibility and relevance in the search engines. And who doesn’t want that?
- They help you generate more free traffic and leads. And who doesn’t like more money?
- They help you reach more potential customers who are searching for information, products, or services related to your niche to solve their problems. And who doesn't want to help others with their content?
- They help you optimize your website’s content for the keywords that matter most for your business. And who doesn’t appreciate value and experience?
Optimizing for Organic Keywords To rank your website for organic keywords, you need to do two things: keyword research and on-page optimization.
Keyword research is the process of finding the best and most relevant keywords for your website based on your audience’s needs and intent. You want to use keywords that match what people are looking for online. Because if they’re not looking for it, they’re not going to find it.
Keyword research tools like KWFinder, SE Ranking, and Semrush generate a list of ideas that are related to your target query so you can choose which terms and phrases to target based on how they align with your products and services as well as the overall value the organic keywords can bring to your business.
These tools can also help you analyze the competition and difficulty of each keyword. Because you don’t want to waste your time on keywords that are too hard to rank in Google.
On-page optimization is the process of using organic keywords in your web content to improve its SEO signals.
The top places to add your organic keywords for SEO include:
- Title tag: It should include your main keyword and a compelling reason to click.
- Meta Description: It should include your main keyword and a clear call-to-action.
- URL: It should include your main keyword and be easy to read and remember.
- H1 Heading: It should include your main keyword and summarize what your page is about.
- H2 Subheadings: They should include related keywords and break up your content into sub sections.
- Body Content: It should include relevant keywords naturally and provide useful information for your visitors.
- Image ALT Text: It should include relevant keywords and help search engines understand your images.
- Internal Links to the Target Page: They should include relevant keywords as anchor text and help visitors navigate your site.
When you optimize these on-page elements correctly, you’ll make your pages more relevant for the organic keywords you want the content to rank for in the search engine results pages (SERPs). You’ll also make your pages more user-friendly and engaging.
Finding Organic Keywords Your Website Ranks for In Google There are two common ways you can monitor the organic keyword performance of your website:
- Google Search Console: This free tool can help you monitor your site’s performance in Google Search, including impressions, clicks, click-through rate (CTR), and position for your organic keywords. You can quickly find out which organic keywords drive the most SEO traffic to your site and which landing pages perform well for those keywords. You can also see how Google crawls and indexes your site and fix any issues that might affect your rankings.
- SEO Analysis Tool: This is a paid tool like Semrush, Ahrefs, or SE Ranking that automatically tracks the top 100 ranking URLs for every keyword imaginable in the SERPs. You can use any one of these tools to analyze your website’s organic keyword rankings in Google as well as your competitors’ sites. You can also see how much traffic each keyword brings, how difficult it is to rank for it, and what kind of SERP features it triggers.

2023.06.08 20:29 Tikurai7 Next Mainline MH Game Bingo?
May be a bit early, but just wanted to ask, if someone (with potential photoshop skills or so) would like to design some preset for a monster hunter bingo for their next big game. ^^
Could just use the monster hunter 1 logo and some fancy 6 or 7 behind it (depends if the game will be 6th or 7th mainline game, since some say rise is the 6th) Free Space could just be a normal Rathalos or use the 6/7 there maybe
I know it will take some long time until the game releases(at least until 2024 anniversary), but I wanted to use this time to create some bingos, like one for features and one specifically for returning monsters. (And since I want to try to play the game completely blind when its releases, I want to avoid as much as possible when the first teasetrailers get public, even if it will be nearly impossible to avoid the flagship monster and maybe some little other things xD)
You are invited to comment your ideas or if you would like to use such bingos early on too! :3

2023.06.08 20:29 Blitz7477 JLT.VIP Scam - Pig Butchering
I'm writing this post on Reddit to generate awareness. I lost 5k USD and luckily didn't lose more. For anyone who is googling if JLT.VIP was legit, I hope you come across this post.
DON'T INVEST. ITS A SCAM. Google Pig Butchering Scam, She Zu Pan,
https://cipherblade.com/blog/the-prevalence-of-sha-zhu-pan-aka-pig-butchering-scams/ Good luck! I hope I was able to save your money :)
Characteristics of Sha Zhu Pan Scams
There are a variety of indicators and techniques used which may indicate that you’re a prospective target in a Sha Zhu Pan. These include:
- The ‘host’ will often greet you ‘good morning’ or ‘good evening’ each day. They will generally talk with you every day as well.
- They aren’t afraid to share pictures. Of something they allegedly bought, somewhere they visited, or food they cooked that often looks professional (these photographs are often staged by corporate, and the host has a large collection of photographs to work with).
- Both men and women are targeted (and the ‘hosts’ use both male and female profiles).
- They express interest in ‘learning’ something from you (e.g., improving their English) but also have things they want to ‘teach’ you.
- They have their own business, which largely won’t be possible for you to verify independently.
- They are attractive.
- They talk a lot about their beliefs and where they believe they are going in life.
- They ask what your goals and dreams are and they encourage you to ‘dream bigger.’
- They casually mention spending significant amounts of money on material items. This is done in an effort to belittle the victims insinuating they aren’t a suitable romantic partner if they don’t have enough money for their lifestyle.
- In a week or two, but sometimes a month or longer, he or she will bring up forex or more often cryptocurrency investing or trading.
- They’ll keep bringing up investing and crypto trading as being something they’re passionate about while obviously hoping that you will ‘share’ that passion by investing your own money.
- Mentions that they’ve gotten into Crypto or Forex trading, that they’ve been earning a good amount of money doing so, and suggest you ‘check out’ the investment or trading website that they refer you to.
- Most times, in order to fund the ‘investment platform’ account, you need to deposit cryptocurrency. This, in turn, will allegedly allow you to ‘trade’ or ‘buy’ whatever investment package, arbitrage trading package, or whatever “new upcoming token” they have listed on the platform’s website.
- They’ll casually mention a few exchanges where you can buy real cryptocurrency depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., Coinbase). Then it’s as simple as withdrawing the cryptocurrency to the address listed on the website.
- Your ‘account’ can sometimes be funded via a wire transfer. For reference, these bank accounts you’d ended up sending wires to are sometimes owned by money mules, or in other cases, the account owner ‘sold’ their account to the scammers (i.e., an international student that leaves the US).
- They have a friend/brotheuncle that taught them what they know.
- Belittles you for not investing ‘enough.’ “You got to spend/invest money to earn money.”
- You’ll ‘trade’ with him or her together, taking their ‘trading advice.’ You’ll ‘earn’ profits together. You’re happy with the performance because, over time, your ‘account balance’ will increase substantially. As an FYI, however, your ‘account balance’ doesn’t actually exist because the scammers control the platform, and there are no trades actually being conducted (the platform merely gives the appearance of it).
- The platform may indicate you’ve suffered a big loss and that you need to make up the shortfall. The scammer will suggest putting more money in or ‘borrowing’ from the website, or he or she may be willing to lend or even give you money themselves (i.e. the scammer may indicate they are willing to pay ‘half’ of what you put in — your ‘balance’ will increase of course once the scammer ‘puts in their half’, but remember they control the account balance so your ‘account balance’ has no relevance — they aren’t actually ‘lending’ any money at all.)
- They trade on an irregular schedule and use charts and information they obtained from ‘sources’ they have.
- They question your commitment to the relationship, get upset easily, shame you, belittle you, and do anything else that makes you feel small or inadequate.
- They are happy to send photos and sometimes do voice calls, but they always have an excuse for not wanting to meet up in-person or doing a video call. This is because they can’t; they aren’t who they say they are — sometimes not even the same sex that they suggest. (although rare, some ‘hosts’ do actually do video calls – the vast majority don’t, however.)
- They are almost always available to chat, even at seemingly odd hours.
- They give the appearance of being helpful and courteous, even if you level accusations against them.
- When you put a few hundred dollars in, you can take the money out without issue. Even a couple thousand, you can usually withdraw a good portion of it. If you invest larger amounts, the slaughter starts; you won’t be able to withdraw. The excuses start and will never end.
- The platform offers incentives and bonuses if you invest very soon by a set date (like tomorrow). This is so you FOMO in, don’t have time to do your own research, and don’t have time to ask friends/family, or even really ask yourself, ‘is this legit?’ But no worries, your new love interest vouches for this platform.
- They will come up with excuses to get you to put in more money. Initially, it’s because your investments have been doing so well, so you need to invest more money to make money. Eventually, there will be “taxes,” “compliance fees,” “lending fees,” “processing fees,” or your account gets “frozen” and you have to pay to “unfreeze” it. They have an unlimited number of excuses they will use to get you to put more money in from outside of the platform. As you can probably guess, these fees cannot be deducted from your account balance (but they won’t tell you about this until the time comes).
- Suddenly, you have 10 days to pay “unpaid fees” or your account balance will start being deducted 5-20% per day until you’re compliant.
- Customer support will sometimes tell you to ‘reverse’ or ‘cancel’ a payment you just made because the ‘address is no longer in use’ or because you sent it to the wrong address (that they provided you). Such cryptocurrency transactions are not reversible. Eventually, the issue will be escalated to management — after a while, they are willing to ‘write off 20-50%’ as a loss, provided you pay the ‘remaining’ 50-80%.
- The value of your investment has already increased multiple times, so the victim can’t justify giving all that up. The scammers keep coming up with more and more excuses, often putting a victim into significant debt who will sometimes take out loans from family members or their bank, until they’ve been slaughtered and bled dry.

2023.06.08 20:29 DontEatThatTaco Print head moving (badly) after cancel print
Hi all
Having some trouble with canceling a print.
Macros involved:
[gcode_macro START_PRINT] gcode: {% set BED = params.BEDdefault(60)float %} {% set EXTRUDER = params.EXTRUDERdefault(205)float %} # ; gcode parameters for area bed mesh variable_parameter_AREA_START : 0,0 variable_parameter_AREA_END : 0,0 # {% set AREA_START = params.AREA_STARTdefault(0,0)float %} # {% set AREA_END = params.AREA_ENDdefault(0,0)float %} # M104 S{EXTRUDER} # M140 S{BED} M109 S{EXTRUDER} M190 S{BED} G28 # M109 S{EXTRUDER} # M190 S{BED} # BED_MESH_PROFILE LOAD=default BED_MESH_CLEAR BED_MESH_CALIBRATE AREA_START={params.AREA_STARTdefault("0,0")} AREA_END={params.AREA_ENDdefault("0,0")} G28 Z G90 M83 G1 X1 Y35 F5000 G1 Z0.3 F2000 G92 E0 G1 Y135 E10 F1000 G1 Y150 F15000 G1 Z5 F2000 M82 [gcode_macro END_PRINT] gcode: M140 S0 M104 S0 G92 E1 G1 E-1 F300 M106 S0 G28 X Y; Home X Y G90 SAVE_IF_SET
[gcode_macro SAVE_AT_END] variable_save: 0 gcode: SET_GCODE_VARIABLE MACRO=SAVE_AT_END VARIABLE=save VALUE=1 [gcode_macro SAVE_IF_SET] gcode: {% if printer["gcode_macro SAVE_AT_END"].save == 1 %} {printer.gcode.action_respond_info("saving and restarting now")} SAVE_CONFIG {% endif %}
[gcode_macro CANCEL_PRINT] rename_existing: BASE_CANCEL_PRINT gcode: END_PRINT
This - if I'm understanding correctly - should just be backing off the filament a bit, then moving my print head to the back-right corner (Ender 5 Pro).
However, after moving to that position, lately the printer has been going a bit crazy:
Yesterday, it lifted the Z, then moved the print head to the center and attempted to home. Unlike a normal homing, though, it waited around 15 second and then it *lifted* the bed, rather than dropping it by 15 like my normal homing process does, so it does not appear to have used the normal G28 process, because if it was it would have dropped the bed. It dragged across the print surface (PEI) and I now have a nice scrape there.
Just now I canceled another print, and again it went to the rear right corner as expected, but then after the same 15 seconds or so, it lifted the bed again and moved along the Y axis all the way to the front of the printer. Once again, it dragged the nozzle/heatblock along the bed, but it did not move at all on the X axis.
Anyone have any idea why the printer would start moving *after* it finishes the 'end_print' macro? There are no moves in any of the macros that deal with the 'save_if_set' macro, so I am at a loss - and now both sides of my PEI are scraped and I don't trust the printer, since I'm concerned if the printer finishes and does the G28 X Y, then starts moving again, it's going to slam into a finished print.
