Level up bard 5e

Hi :) I am not entirely sure if I am doing this correctly because I have never used reddit before. I have written a little under half of an adult fantasy novel, and I am looking for feedback. I will take any and all feedback, but I am mostly looking for unbiased parties to tell me if I have an potential at all with this story/as a writer. Honestly I am mainly looking for peers/friends. I am happy to read your work in return (though I am mostly only familiar with fiction/fantasy work)! If you are interested, comment below or chat me (IDK how that works but I shall figure it out hehe).
Content warnings: So far the story is not spicy but I do intend to take it there. I am 22 and the characters are around 20 so I am looking for older readers, not minors. I wouldn't be comfortable discussing that sort of things with younger readers though you are still ofc welcome to read it! There is very minor violence but nothing too grim. There is also some LGBTQ+ rep so bigots stay away!
Disclaimer the first chapter is only one of the main characters, but I do have to say, once they meet there is some wonderful witty banter so I swear it gets more intriguing.
First chapter:
Chapter 1: Bearnas The innate driving force of human nature is vengeance. This was a certitude I had come to realize from a young age, and it was a concept I relied on as I got older. Vengeance was the primary motivator for my people. It was our currency. The way we managed to survive. I didn’t stop to consider the morality of this outlook. I didn’t like to contemplate the state of my existence. Found that to be a waste of time. I focused on the here-and-now. The mutable present. It was simply the way the world was, so I had to deal with it like a man should. This was an ideal my father had instilled in me since the time of my birth. I was the son of a victorious warrior. Osgar Nieva was a well-respected war lieutenant during the Great Slaughtering. He never let me forget that I had a legacy to uphold. I knew my father hated me. I figured his disappointment began from the moment I received my name. In Dolag, tradition dictates that the father names their son. Names were believed to be prophetic. Osgar had a strong name-befitting of a warrior. His name meant “divine spear.” My grandfather claimed he could sense that Osgar would be a brave warrior from the moment he was born. So he was prophesied to be graced by the luck of God in battles. Typically, women were only allowed to name the baby if it was a girl. I was the exception. The process of my birth brought my Mother to her deathbed. The doctor was certain that she wouldn’t recover. As she lovingly admired the newborn baby boy in her arms, her attention was drawn by a bird pecking gently on the window. Tears streamed out of her eyes as it took off soundlessly into the winter dawn. “Wren.” She’d muttered softly, still gazing peacefully out the window. The room of family members and midwives stood in puzzled silence. The world seemed to pause in wait for her next words. She turned her head back to meet Osgar’s eyes. “He shall be named Wren. He will be gentle. Beautiful. Free.” She reached down to caress her baby’s face. “And he will be loved.” Despite my Father’s protests, the council voted to accept the name. The wishes of the dying outweighed naming traditions. Only my Mother never died. Doctors considered her survival a miracle. She returned back to full health only a few months later. She and I have paid for her decision every day since. Osgar refused to call me Wren. Anyone who referred to me as such, other than my Mother, was punished accordingly. To the rest of the world, I became known as Bearnas Nieva. Bearnas was the name Osgar would have chosen for his son if he had been given the opportunity. Bearnas. Meaning bringer of victory. My father did everything in his power to ensure that I would fulfill this destiny, whether it was the result of prophetic nomenclature or resolute determination. The story of my name was all I could think about as I prepared for my sendoff. I was tightening my last bootstring when a small hand clapped me on the back with a force intended to knock me off balance. “The famed Bear Nieva preparing for his grand expedition. What luck I must possess to witness you in all your glory.” I was grateful for El’s arrival, despite the copious amount of sarcasm she brought with her. My sister's presence was probably the only thing that could pull me out of my thoughts right now. “Using mockery as a mechanism to cover up your total despair about my departure, I assume.” I tried to keep my tone light, but in truth it was myself I was worried about. El held the chief role in keeping me sane throughout the later part of my life. She was my only tether to my true self. I worried about how I would stay grounded on my Hunt without her there to tease my worries away. El flopped on my bed with feigned anguish. “Yes, whatever will I do without my idiot older brother around to hog all the scrambled eggs at breakfast. Oh, how I will miss the putrid scent you plague the house with after training all day. Your constant nagging about my lack of tidiness will be missed most ardently.” I swatted her gently with my leather gloves. “Speaking of, get your disgusting outdoor shoes out of my clean bed immediately.” I shooed her out of my room, and chased her towards the door, nearly colliding with my father as a result. “This isn’t befitting behavior for a man about to begin his First Hunt” Osgar admonished. “Elowen, go to the kitchen and help your Mother tidy up before we head to town.” El skirted around our father into the hallway. Safely out of his eyeline, she directed one last mocking tongue in my direction before slinking away. “Are you ready to go?” He raked his disapproving gaze over my gear, searching for any flaw he could call attention to. “Yes, sir.” I responded. I did feel ready. This was the moment I had been preparing for my whole life. My body was honed by years of workouts and my skills were unquestioned. I had graduated top of my class in my training group. I was certainly ready to leave the house, as I wanted nothing more than independence. Besides my Mother and sister, I had nothing keeping me here. Not anymore. So I grabbed my bag and walked out the door. When my family was all ready, we began the walk to the edge of town where the sendoff was taking place. There we would eat, drink, dance and say our goodbyes. I spent my time standing on the outskirts of the group, hoping my stern face would signal everyone to leave me alone. I didn’t have any desire to get my ego fluffed by a bunch of people who just wanted to get in the good graces of my Father. I just wanted to leave. The one person I actually wished had come to bid me farewell had decided not to show up, not that I could blame him. Eleven other men would be sent off at the same time as me. We were all being sent in different directions, but we were all given the same instruction: go kill a witch. That is exactly what I intended to do. Success rates had been much lower over the past few years. After the Great Slaughter fifty years prior, there were only so many witches left to kill. In fact a witch hadn’t been successfully hunted in around 4 years. Most hunters came back many months after their departure unable to track any down. The people of Dolag figured the warriors of the Great Slaughter had ushered the witches into near extinction. The only evidence we had that they weren’t entirely eradicated were the cases of the men who never returned. Every once in a while, there was a man who was assumed to have met his demise at the hands of one of the remaining witches. So the Hunts continued on. After a few hours of festivities, it was time for us to set off. I was ready to say my goodbyes. I knelt down so El could wrap her arms around my neck. Her hot tears dampened the fabric covering my shoulders. “Promise me you will come back,” she said. I squeezed her a little tighter. “Don’t worry, you’ll get a few months of the stench free, scrambled-egg-filled, only-child experience and then I will be right back to boss you around.” El released me from her grip in order to look me in the eyes. “I’m not kidding around Bear.” Her piercing gaze mirrored the intensity of her voice. “Promise me.” Even though I knew it wasn’t something I could realistically guarantee, I hugged her once more and said “I promise, Elly.” After a moment, I stood up and ruffled my little sister’s hair. Then I turned to my Mother, who watched with watery eyes. The hair that had escaped from her tight bun was wisping around her face in the gentle breeze. The sun shining behind her produced an effect reminiscent of a halo. She embraced me with a level of care only a Mother could deliver. “I love you, Wren. You will always be my darling songbird,” she whispered into my ear. I released myself from the hug, and smiled one last time at my adoring Mother. I nodded once before forcing myself to turn to my Father. “Don’t disappoint me, son.” He stuck out his calloused hand and I shook it begrudgingly. It felt like cold leather in my grip. That was it. That was my final farewell from my Father. ‘Don’t disappoint’. No good luck, no I love you, nothing of the sort. Only a damn handshake. I knew I shouldn’t have expected anything different, but it still put me in a sour mood. What a great start to my expedition. I looked one last time at my sister and Mother in an effort to preserve some positive thoughts about my home. When I cemented this image in my mind, I omitted the withering glare of my Father beside them. I spun around and started down the path towards Deirtalamh. I marched towards witch country without so much as a glance over my shoulder. I was days into my trek when I came across the cabin. Being the son of Osgar Nieva gave me claim to the most promising Hunt. My journey was actually mapped to this location, whereas the rest of my group had to resort to aimless meandering. I heard the gentle melody of a person humming drifting out from within the house. How odd. My superiors swore it was a witch that lived here. A hunter from a few years prior reported catching a glimpse of a cabin before he was suddenly lost in the woods. Who could be humming so pleasantly within this peaceful home so deep into witch territory? I maneuvered my head to look through the open window and saw the source of the cheerful noise. She appeared like the sun incarnate. Her dark skin contrasted beautifully against the pale yellow of her clothes. Her hair curled unbound around her face. She stirred a pot of stew as she swayed softly to her own music, the fabric of her dress swishing mesmerizingly around her thighs. Beautiful suddenly seemed like an insufficient word to describe someone of her standing. I knew she was not the witch I had come to hunt. Of course I was no fool, I was aware that witches could glamor themselves to be beautiful. But their false beauty was always like that of a succubus, unnatural and deadly. No witch would have been able to conjure up the effortless and soft beauty of the woman in front of me. I was sure of it. Never mind the fact that if she were a witch, I would most certainly be dead. She would have sensed me coming from the moment I stepped foot onto her land, and she would have been ready to strike. If I had let myself get distracted for this long in the presence of a witch, I would have paid for my mistake in blood. I wondered how she had come to live in Deirtalamh. I’d heard tales of villagers who’d tried their luck here out of desperation, choosing to brave the dangers of witch territory rather than living in the impoverished slums of Dolag. I’d also heard of extreme cases where dangerous criminals were exiled here. This woman looked neither criminal in nature nor desperate to survive. She looked content. Regardless, I must get her to safety. I walked briskly over to the door and entered the cabin.

Hey guys,
I am not satisfied with the loot system and content right now and I want to elaborate why:
There are 51 unique items in total in diablo4, and only 13 of them are for all classes. So in average your character could wear around 20 uniques, many are trash and absolutely not viable though.
There are no set items
There are no runes
There are no runewords
So basically, all we have is rare (yellow) items, maybe 1-2 uniques that are good for your build. Even legendary items are just rares with an aspect, and since you put aspects on all your gear, they are just rare items aswell.
So we go grind dungeons. After every dungeon, my inventory is filled with rare (and legendary, but as I said, they are rares) items. There is absolutely no excitement in dropping items, maybe with level 30 dropping your first legendary item. Every after is just picking up all the yellow and orange stuff, checking if something is better, if yes replace it and then grind on
Coming from Diablo2, a 20 year old game, I had lots of items to find there. Mighty Runes with a chance of 1:600000 to find, and once you found some runes you could build runewords with them.
Green set items that were really cool to collect and gave your character a special look, although the sets were not for the absolute lategame, they were enough to kill enemies the whole game.
Blue items like charms, you could find a charm that gave you +1 to a certain skill and maybe another useful bonus. Hell, some blue items were even worth several hundred dollars. Some of my OG boys here might remember 3/20/20 charms, +1 skill 45 life skillers, 6/40 javelins, but also the excitement of just finding an ist rune after a ladder start, a Tal rasha set armor, or building your first enigma.
And now, what do I have? I can grind for hours, slay nightmare dungeons and helltides, just to get my inventory flooded with more yellow and orange items that are 99% trash and once in a while you can replace one
I remember one week ago when we found our first legendaries in D4, and we were super happy and like „yea man I found another legendary ring“.
Well, that joy is gone now. I’m not happy if I see 371763 rares and legendaries anymore. I pick, I look, I sell..

I had a question on world scaling and gear farming / item level. I just started grinding it out and in world tier 3 and I don't fully understand how the itemization works.
Am I essentially refarming gear everytime I level up? Are there breakpoints? I noticed that everytime I've leveled up I'm basically regrinding for each item slot, because the yellow sacred items that drop tend to have better roles, so I just transfer my legendary powers to them.
Is there a point where the item level / gear plateaus out?

I want to set up memory mappings for my kernel. I need a dynamic mapping system, where I can add support for userspace too. I am working on x86_64 and have been trying different schemes for months now. As for now, I have initial memory (fixed size) being mapped for my kernel at the higher half -2G offset. I am remapping the kernel after entering long mode because I can't find any other way to shrink the kernel to its actual size, so no memory is wasted.
I am using level-4 mappings for initial mapping. It has 2MB pages and after I remap my kernel, how can I reuse that same memory? I am really confused about this. Please help!

When you live in a holler as sorry and wild as Briar Ridge, it's either the mines, the fields, or the 'shine. And most folks have chosen the 'shine. Sure, if there's an explosion you might loose a hand, but it's better than coughing up that awful dust in the belly of the earth. S&C Coal can go right to hell in the minds of most folk around here.
With their eyes on their stills, the people of Briar Ridge don't realize they're being watched from the treeline. Or they might'a just gotten used to it. When you grow up in these mountains, everything's watching you. Might be a cougar. Might be a black bear. Might be the swamp monster Farmer Obadiah was praying real hard over at church two Sundays ago. As long as you keep your gun handy and your buddies close, you'll be okay. At least, that's the logic most folks use so they can sleep at dawn.
But most folks ain't ever had to deal with werewolves before. And most folks don't realize their safety in the moonlight is long gone.

So i have been vaping for 2-3 years now. I have abnormal breath(shortness of breath). Everytime i wake up i feel like i cant breath. When i had lung xray by a hospital it was perfectly normal. Whats happening? Is it just my bloodcells that is messing up my oxygen level?

Hi, so I recently started playing dnd. I haven’t gotten past two sessions for most characters because my dm burns out before we get into one. I really want to play and I’ve made a ton of cool characters (in my opinion) that I really wanted to see grow. So far most of the characters I’ve made haven’t been really strong in theory, but I think had great roleplay potential. A recent character I made is for my brothers campaign and is one I think will be really cool if it grows and I’m most proud of.
The character is a Dragonborn barbarian and I’m planning on going path of the beast even though I was told it’s only good early game. The general backstory is that he was experimented on by dragons, but was able to escape captivity. Whenever he rages he goes into a trance that is similar to a feral dragon that, as he levels up, goes further downhill. With the path of the beast he could get on all fours using his claws and breath attack. I also thought that later on in the campaign multi classing into fighterune knight to make my Dragonborn large while raging to get him as close to a playable rabid dragon. Would love to hear your thoughts and possibly how to improve it.

Hello everyone! I need some tips as to which features I'm supposed to use for animating a robot's actions for a simulation.
What I'm using:
The model is built out of fishertechnik's components which i managed to convert to uassets from fbx files. Hence all components are static meshes. The robot's subassemblies are build inside separate actors so that whenever I want to animate certain movements, I only need to move specific parts of the robot.
Goal: Take objects off a conveyor belt using a trolley, pushing them into a vertical storage, which elevates itself so that the objects are stored in the right box.
Problem: I don't know how to record animations and then bind them to a certain key. Since there are multiple objects that could end up in various boxes, I also don't know how to make the simulation more accurate, since doing all 6! (there are 6 different objects which could end up in any box) separately isn't a very efficient option.
Question: Is what I'm trying to achieve doable? And if so, can anyone point me towards a good tutorial or explain which tools might be useful for my goal? If I can't do all 6!, at least a demo would be good, so how can I make some different Level Sequence animations which are activated on keybinds?

If you look at the reviews and listen to the streamers or go on their sub you would think D4 was the best video game ever released.
It isn't and this is coming from a Diablo fan! The wife took the kids to see her mother for a week so i had a chance to no life a video game. i relived my old D2 and D3 glory days and bought a bunch of pizzas a few cases of mountain dew and i went to work on the game.
After level 88 here are some things that stink about D4 and a few that are good.
Good:
the early game is fun and the story and cut scenes are quite honestly amazing.
the level scaling is nice and being able to group with friends of all levels and have it scale to you is good (at low levels).
Bad:
There is no loot. this is the biggest problem. there are maybe 3 or 4 different types of every helmet, legs, chest, etc and you will experience them all relatively soon. there are no 'class set pieces' and even from the mid level 40's your scrounging for 1 - 2 percent increase in dps by min maxing the same old boring pieces rather than other games where you get large chunck's of power increases on regular intervals.
there is no quality of life improvements. you would think a company who set the bar in the arpg genre would launch with more than 35 inventory spots that fill up insanely quick and maximum 4 tabs of bank space. you can't fast travel to friends.
i decided to not list all the negatives as this isn't a d4 sub. but i will say that everything d4 does another game does better. grim dawn a 10 year old arpg game is superior to this in everything but graphics. last epoch is better at everything including graphics.
this game could have been great if they took a chance and tried something new... but they didn't. they went blizzard and played it safe and the results are lacklaster.

i made my MA appt at planned parenthood for a week from today, at 5 weeks. but my doc ran blood tests and noticed that my HCG levels went up only 25% instead of doubling. she says i’m either experiencing a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy and will have to run more tests. i’m feeling extremely worried and anxious, any words would be much appreciated

In Michigan 20(f) with the diagnosis of POTs. My primary care doctor won't give me it, or sign off my paper, as she stated she trys to save them for older people. My cardiologist shrugged it off and wrote me accomodations to give to my work and college but nothing I can do to stop people from parking there so that felt like a joke. I get severely exhausted even talking on the phone. Walking to classes effects my ability to focus in class since my heart is racing which ups my brain fog to a whole different level. Makes me doubt my disability and am I making this pain/symptoms up? Ugh.

What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do as a user?
Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at ModCoord.
Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

I'm 24M who grew up in a fairly wealthy family for my country's economy, i have to admit i'm very immature, do to many things being solved for me, which im not proud to say.
I was holding a job that i didn't really like, the work enviroment at first was great but it slowly worsen, if you're curious to know i'll explain. I volunteered my house for a party and some of the attendees trash my house, i was suposed to cook some meat bbq style which is tradionally done on social gatherings in my home country.
However i was doing everything by myself, the rain came pooring down on me like the november rain music video and everything was ruined, i did my best and cooked the meat half drunk on a stove top and oven wich didn't turn out great.
Next day work's group chat everyone was upset at me because i didn't cook the meat on time. I asked for help multiple times ans nobody helped, i got insulted on a personal and profesional level.
I didn't think much of it until monday came and everyone was distant to me. I felt really isolated and uncomfortable and i decided to quit yesterday. The eviroment was getting to hard for me to handle, and i only took the job to save some money to move away to a new country in the first place.
I was suposed to be leaving in july 6, so it was basically just a couple of weeks. However i decided i needed a break from my coworkers and work.
To clarify i still live with my parents, wich to some of you in america might look really bad bud trust me, here down in south america is nothing but common, i was saving to move away like i said.
I woke up today and my parents where yelling at me very nasty things kinda reminded me of that twisted sister video where the father yells at his son. But it was not normal yelling, they were calling me very abusive names, and basically treating me like garbage, the nail on the coffin was when they called me a disgrace and a mistake. That how can i at my age not graduated from college already and achieve everything on life.
This really hurted me because i have very strong complexes do to me being adopted. They kept on telling me how much of a disgrace and shame i'm to family and how i make them look bad as parents. This is not the first time they've done this. They always use verh hurtful words or physical violence to prove a point. I know this might sound weird to you up north but it's very common and normal to beat up your kids in third world countries.
I grew up suffering from bullying, and being told by many teacher's im a failure and i'm going to hell, for my music, my haircut and my personality. I'd like to clarify im not a college dropout, i stop studying law school to pursuit and culinary carreer my parents where very supporting i really appreciated that however, they always make horrible comments about me not being a doctor like them or my other family members.
After 2 hours of being yelled at, my mom threatened to throw my drums away and kick me out of the house and stop supporting me in me moving away. And yes, im not ashamed of telling you all that my parents where supporting me on moving out of the country, it's never easy. Anyways they said they will no longer help me do to me being a quitter and a loser and disgrace and all of that.
So i just walk out of the house, with some of my stuff. I told them i will no longer need their money or help, that im not moving away and that i'll pick up my stuff next week.
I have no where to go, im literally wearing basically my pjs on a wendy's as i'm typing this. I know i sound very inmature but dealing with bullys and abusers all my life has taken a toll on me.
This is also a very tough decision for me do to having a long distance relationship of three years with a wonderful woman i met online. And we've been visiting each other for the past three years. I was very happy to finally close the distance, however that wont be posible for at least a couple of years from now, do to the recent events on my life.
I feel lost and i feel like i have nowhere to go.
