2023.06.10 06:10 Milky8881717 Question about playable leauges

This is my first time playing fm. I started out in Europe in the varanama league to work up. I'm pretty new to football, I'm from America and just really got into football after the world cup. The urge to call it soccer is real rn. Learning all the different tatics/positions and what they do is crazy. Anyways I'm 4 years in and just realized I only have England as a playable league. What's some top tier nations I should add playable. Best players, etc. I don't have the greatest laptop in the world, I could probably add 5 or 6 new nations.

2023.06.10 06:09 bonelessfolder If what we're hearing is true, I am so embarrassed for everyone involved

Let's start with the humans.
They make the most important discovery in all of our history: that we are not alone in the universe. Also that our understanding of physics and perhaps ontology in general is deeply impoverished, maybe completely wrong. Oh and on top of that these guys have just left their trash around for us to study.
So how did our boomers respond? They took it upon themselves to hide this from everyone. Why? Fear of social consequences and hope for advantage in the Cold War.
These are terrible reasons. The longer this knowledge is kept secret, the greater the likelihood for abuse and a two-tier society. The social consequences are indeed risky - we will likely see panic and hysteria from at least some folks if this all pans out. But these consequences can only be postponed; in such a situation they'll happen eventually. The truth comes out. And obviously the delay can make it much worse. When you add in a profound and decades long breach of the social contract, there's a risk of irreparably destroying public trust in government resulting potentially in weak government or sustained turbulent anarchy - right at the moment when we need a global response.
As for the arms race, the US position with respect to its adversaries is not advantaged by such strict secrecy. That's not how an arms race works. We never hid all chemistry or physics behind a veil. Those disciplines progressed in public with the mass involvement of a global scientific community. That creates a baseline of progress. It also creates a community where you can train your scientists and engineers. The winner of the arms race is the one who applies that new knowledge to develop and manufacture dominant weapons systems.
Lockheed Martin is big but not that big. Imagine what we will learn if all of this is put in the hands of hundreds of millions of capable scientists and engineers worldwide. Over decades, they will work out the physics, they will master the material engineering. It could revolutionize every field and drive years of economic growth. I doubt another eighty years would pass before we're able to stand technologically alongside these creatures.
And that is of urgent importance, much more so than any mere interhuman arms race. By keeping all this secret, the powers that be have prevented a much-needed global, all-hands-on-deck response to this new, mysterious threat. Even accepting only the most limited accounts of the behavior of these visitors - them flying about and crashing - it is pretty clear they are not strongly sympathetic or supportive of us. It is within the realm of possibility that they intend to harm us at some point or even take this planet. We need to prepare for that.
And we urgently need to go even further. If we've recovered craft of non-human intelligences, it is likely that we live in a society that is still hidden from us. The universe is very large and may be teaming with intelligences that interact. Some may be threats, others friends. If what we're hearing is true, the only safe way to proceed at this point is to stand up in this vast new world. All the foolish secrecy may well have delayed our doing so until we no longer have enough time.
I cannot think of a dumber, more reactionary, more dangerous line of policy in the history of our species.
Now the aliens
Imagine if you will you are a space explorer. You find a beautiful planet with a large population of chimpanzees or wolves, something like that. They're intelligent, dangerous, violent, profound creatures - definitely not at your level but remarkable. Wat do?
Look what Jane Goodall has done, or Farley Mowat. We have respect for such creatures, simple and stupid as they are. We treat them respectfully, we actually learn from them, sometimes we work with them. Look what our ancestors did with wolves, now dogs. The apparent indifference of these NIH to our existence - while they recklessly interfere with our development (they surely know we have their stuff) - suggests a failure to appreciate our value and an inability to cooperate/socialize/improvise with diverse others. Even if they have come as conquerors - we took the wolf's quarry, their territory, and we got them too. Our best friends. All it took was (a little) social competence and empathy on our part.
Do we humans have a lot to learn and gain from these creatures? Certainly. Are they simply "beyond us in evolution"? Do they have nothing to gain from us? God I hope noone reading this is so much the stereotype of a half-educated STEM major that they would answer in the affirmative. Being human is not just a little bit special. Plenty of our insights, experiences, actions, artworks, customs, relationships, etc are beyond envy, not worth trading for anything, worth crossing a universe to experience or discover. And you'd have to be dickless idiot not to expect that from a species like us and therefore seek out interaction, assuming that (like them apparently) you don't mind disrupting.
I have seen speculation that these NIH established more of a presence when we first began our nuclear weapons programs. But these creatures, from what we seem to have seen of them so far, are so uniform, boring, loveless, uninterested, focused, showing no proclivity towards community or creativity or greater-than-zero-sum outcomes that they seem at best like a cruel tiger-mom's fantasy of her child and at worst like wasps or ants, and I suggest we wonder whether it wasn't admiration for our pathetic fascists that drew their attention.
If that seems harsh or founded on too many assumptions, think of how different it could be. Why not Guinan aliens? Why not Woody Nelson aliens? Why not aliens who go to the world cup and a reporter asks "Do you even understand soccer? Are you just here to be polite?" And they blush.
It worries me that these creatures are sometimes described as if they were the ultimate realists: acting as if strength entitles them, attending to force, disregarding perceived weakness. Maybe that's just projection within fiction. Realism is a preposterously false theory of international relations and historically the nations that have fallen under its sway and seen themselves as realists were the most destabilizing and destructive.
So much of this is speculative - perhaps there is more to these creatures. But they certainly seem - just from the way they fly around and crash and never come for tea or show up at concerts - awkward, impolite, and anti-social. I am embarrassed for them for the way in which they've introduced themselves to our species.
We will never live down these self-inflicted embarrassments.
Maybe we'll joke together someday:
Remember what shut-in, cardboard losers you guys were? It's a lucky we had a strategic manic pixie dream girl reserve.
Oh yes, and remember how your government absolutely betrayed you for 80 years complete with murder, all just to chart the dumbest course through their terrestrial conflicts?
Hahahahaha! Those were silly times. Hurry up, Blorg, we'll be late for Starfleet commencement!

2023.06.10 04:20 barelyincollege Proposal: Trade Cordova to the Galaxy?

Today, the LA Galaxy announced that Chicharito suffered an ACL tear, and by all accounts is out for the season.
Last year, MLS imposed several sanctions on the Galaxy because they violated roster and budget rules in the 2019 season. One of these sanctions includes a transfer ban through MLS's Secondary Transfer Window (i.e., the upcoming summer window) that prohibits the Galaxy from registering a player from outside MLS.
This means that for the Galaxy, any replacement for Chicharito needs to come from within MLS unless they want to punt on this season entirely. The Whitecaps have an expendable MLS DP striker in Sergio Cordova, who might already need a change of scenery and hasn't fit at all in Vancouver. It looks like the Galaxy play a 4-4-2 and have Riqui Puig (an attacking midfielder) playing as a makeshift striker.
Do you think there's a fit between these two clubs?
Personally, I'd explore it: I haven't seen any flashes of potential from Cordova at all this year. White seems to have rediscovered his form lately, and the Caps have two capable understudies in Becher and Johnson. I don't see how Cordova can recoup his value in Vanni's 4-3-2-1 unless he can somehow outperform White as the lone striker.
If we can offload him as a sunk cost and go after a better striker in the summer, I'd love to pull this off.

I love the idea of teaching a girl all the right ways to turn on a man. We can go slow, then ramp up. We can do oral training. We can do roleplay. You want it rough and hard? Smooth and romantic? I am pretty open. Condoms are a must or proof of BC, not looking to have any kids. This should be obvious, but 18+ ONLY, no exceptions.
I am also open to just chatting online, but my ideal match would be someone local we can eventually meet up. PLEASE have better conversations skills than a potato. If you are going to send 1 word replies do not bother.
My ideal set up would be us chatting a little bit, then moving over to some type of video chat. Then set up a IRL meeting to feel each other out and get comfortable at Starbucks, where we can discuss G-Rated or X-Rated things. Then we can go back to my place(Yes I can host) shower up, then get down to business
My top kinks are cum worship, DD/LG, face- fucking, rimming, and face slapping/choking. I will not do any "break-in" scenarios without some type of face to face meeting first, not looking to get set-up/robbed/go to prison. I also require safe words, that way we can both get off pushing right up to the border, but wont go over it. I want to rape own and abuse your holes and body ONLY if it is consensual and turns you on.
Pluses but not requirements are : Petite body- A/b/c cups. Small butt. Innocent girl next girl type or church camp type. Mixed race.

We’re gonna need a bigger stadium🦈 Will Messi’s star power require a larger stadium?
As a long time fan of the league, and a supporter of MLS in Miami, do you think the stadium plans are going to be too small? I am aware that Miami Freedom Park will be on the larger end of MLS’s soccer specific stadiums, but could a 25,000 seat capacity be too small with Messi fans filling it up? Seeing how Charlotte FC is already opening up all seats for their first game against Inter, could a larger stadium be more profitable? Would a World Cup minimum 40,000 seats be more suitable?

2023.06.10 01:57 Thecarefulguy2000 Returning player to the game and playing the KC Cup, thoughts and opinions

I'm a returning Duel Links player, after seeing orcust added, and being interested in seeing what I could do with the deck. I stayed out of most KC Cups, as they more often than not, had a deck I did not like, mainly for lack of interesting deckbuilding. I really liked Blackwing format in 2019 since there was a deceptively high amount of skills that could work well (I used draw sense high level, which had a good win rate, but couldn't play much as it was in during exam season), and I mainly preferred late 2020 format, since no one deck is too strong, and many decks had places in the meta. It was mainly composed of Karakuri, which is a deck I greatly enjoyed, for the high gas synchro plays
Going into this meta, the best decks are of course Orcust, which has plenty of viable variants, Raging Pendulum decks (including orcust), Rokket, and Speedroid. I chose Orcust, since I like experimenting with different skills, and I had always planned on building it sometime in Master Duel. I considered Rokket, but I don't like how reliant it is on boot sector skill, and tbh, I don't care much for Rokket as an archetype, and I prefer it as an engine like it is Dragon Link in the tcg and Master Duel (throughout the day, I wished I just played my Bystial Dragon Link deck that I made recently). I also considered Speedroid, but alike Rokket, it's very reliant on the skill, of which I find very toxic tbh, since imo, skills shouldn't be capable of giving more than one card without major costs. I don't like Raging Pendulum at all, as I really dislike the idea of having a searcher incapable of being interacted with.
As for the meta itself, I saw a lot of Raging Pendulum, considering how powerful it's endboards are. The deck can easily set up dweller plus Volo, though I often found a lot of people played it with Orcust, which generally didn't set up dweller. Also I saw more than one running Onomat with it, which leaves me wondering how they have space for it. Speaking of Onomat, the deck is very difficult to deal with going second in its current form. It is used with orcust, as onomatopaira gets access to beatrice easily, who can not only set up the orcust engine, but also set up farfa or tackle crusader. It's not impossible to beat, but it's very difficult. The thing that bothers me with it, is that it is absurdly expensive, since for some asinine reason, paira is in a selection box and the searcher for it is in solflare lightning. While I get that skill is no longer as overpowered as it is was, so there was some logic behind it, the engine is still very strong. The price locks me from playing it, and tbh, I despise the idea of meta relevant 3 of staples in archetypes being locked behind a selection box. I won't be surprised if this is one of the best performing variants of the deck. I noticed a lot of sealed tombs, which I dislike, not because it is strong against my deck, but because the idea of an easily accessible floodgate being on a skill is very unfair imo. It even turns off cards like kiteroid in grave, which has caused me losses. I do hope this is nerfed, it's very toxic, and only really being used by Orcust. There was also a surprising amount of Guardian Call. Essentially the idea is that Garbage Lord is special summoned and the skill can search Eatos, to set up a one card Link 2 without your normal summon. I'm fine with this tbh, considering the Life cost they endure, it means they have to be careful and has punished my opponents a few times. It's one of the few fair search skills imo. I personally chose Draw Sense Earth and later destiny draw. Tbh, neither of these skills are that good. The prior is probably better, since you can deceive your opponent by playing as a niche character like Bakura and then catch them off guard. Plus it's usually the case that you want to draw recycler in Orcust so it's probably better. D Draw is still an excellent generic skill, but it's not the instant win button that it was in late 2020. The quantity of switcheroo was lower than expected, but imo, the skill is mid. The best skill in most orcust variants is probably sealed tombs, since it screws over the opponent in mirror matches, though there are plenty of cool options.
Grinding for the event was rough. The Value of 9999 gems in this game compared to Master Duel is night and day. Getting cards in boxes in general is hard. Having to pull the entirety of the set with Unicorn, when I compare it to the Master Duel experience, where I got it instantly makes it feel worse, with all the work I had to go through. I think the box chips should have more modern cards tbh, most of the cards in those sets are outdated, very few are still viable.
As for the main threats card wise, Lancea can be instant gameover. It's an annoying card, and while I can see the argument of it being fair, I personally feel like it screws over the deck way too much compared to D.D. Crow. Warning Point is also obnoxious, I don't mind the negation, but the fact that the monster can't be used as material makes it feel unwinnable more often than not, depending on how much backrow they have. The Speedroid endboards feel very oppressive, Crystal Wing is usually supported by backrow, which makes it very difficult to deal with, especially if you don't open crow to open. Pendulum call does way too much in Raging Pendulum, the boards they set up are at their strongest when they open it, especially if they send cards like Orcusts, the level 3 magician tuner or zephyros. Orcust ... it depends on how much backrow they draw. I personally opt for more handtraps over backrow, but the backrow ones are very difficult to deal with (I imagine it's worse for non-orcust decks, since orcust can be very efficient at getting rid of backrow, with the knightmares and dingirsu). Rokkets, tbh are not too bad to deal with, they mainly have to rely on generic backrow to win. The most problematic cards are Ice Dragon's Prison and Crackdown. They're both Limit 3 backrow, the prior banishing is very difficult to come back for, and the latter having a mechanic that should've been left to econ and big eye imo, it's very difficult to come back (one game, I couldn't use skeleton since they snatched my ding that it was attached to).
As for the format, I really wish Konami would just adjust how the KC cup works, rewarding players for playing the entire 72 hours is ridiculous to expect from players. The last time I was fine, since the deck I played was a lot more consistent in terms of win rate than the current one I'm playing, so it wasn't as time intensive. Here though, in day one, I already feel like giving up, since staying in one seat for several hours is not comfortable and the format isn't fun enough for me (100 duels in one day is very exhausting). I really hope Konami puts a limit on the duels. They likely won't since they haven't did so six years ago (it is possible in Master Duel though, hopefully).
In conclusion, there's a lot I like about the format, but there's a lot wrong with it too. High negation boards are plentiful in the game, which I'm not sure how to feel. Part of what I liked about Duel Links, is that they weren't there, and now the game has more necessity in handtraps. Cards like veiler and some of the ghost sisters should be added imo. Otks are also too easy to perform, the life points are way too low, and some decks can kill you effortlessly (speedroid especially is aggegious for this, and D/D/D was one that caused me to leave the game, since I didn't like how difficult it was to stop). The skill design is something that I understand, as it helps outdated decks keep up, but skills like treason phantom which completely breaks the logic behind how the deck should work, since all of a sudden, any two phantom knight cards turns one into foolish burial, and the deck can just casually turn level 3s into a rank 4 or the quasar skill turning cards like junk synchron or junk explorer into a one-card quasar solely from the skill setting up the summon. I don't like the idea of deck interaction in general outside of draw senses, considering how powerful searches can be, especially when there's no meaningful way to stop them (I've been of the opinion for years, that there should be a skill that negates other skills in some way). I won't be surprised when a character skill causes an ftk (that isn't elements unite, since that skill is awful going second). I do hope they improve the economy of the game, and make selection box cards more accessible, it's not fun being price locked out of getting them. There's plenty of opinions on the game, and I definitely don't think there's any correct opinions (especially in terms of the balance).

Everyone claps as Granny struts off. “And I sashay… AWAY!”

The racers enter the werkroom.
“Granny… gone… just.” Yasmin laughs. “Whoops. Bad joke!”
“Granny not so Gorgeous.” Aguacate smirks, wiping the mirror.
Aguacate: “I have lip synced for my life. And I am now… another one of those girls who has lip synced.” Aguacate growls. “I was supposed to be perfection!”
“How does it feel, joining the lip sync club, Aguacate?” Jaslene raises an eyebrow.
“Well, unlike you and Zazu, I don’t plan to REPEAT this.” Aguacate laughs.
“Now why am I in it?” Zazu gasps.
The three chuckle, sitting down.
“Congrats to you, Jaslene… for a win.” Aguacate shrugs. “Your second, which, great of you to catch up-”
Jaslene playfully rolls her eyes.
“How am I, do you ask?” Aguacate purses her lips. “Well…”
King Omari Star: “Aguacate…”
“Simply put- as a star, you must have a moment of loss of faith. You crumble- before the Gods themselves, and then- YOU PULL YOURSELF OUT.” Aguacate snaps her fingers. “So I’m doing it.”
King Omari Star: “She’s the star of her own telenovela, best you believe it.”
The screen slows down as Aguacate continues to monologue, as a rose petal effect cascades down the screen.
“It’s the heroes journey.” Aguacate smiles.
“I love that you think you’re the hero.” Yasmin adds.
Everyone gasps, laughing except Fiore, who just remains silent.
“Darling, it’s top 6- why are you sour?” Aguacate turns to stare at Fiore.
Suddenly, the music stops from the flowy telenovela to a gritty, rough sound.
“I…. I am displeased. I am not displeased. Actually, I’m full of rage.” Fiore growls. “I have come here to deliver HIGH-CLASS DRAG. I am an ACTRESS. I am a WINNER. And I have worked long and hard just to nearly went home on a makeover challenge? A challenge I believe I performed gorgeously in just because of… me not letting loose????” Fiore shakes her head. “A-And that judge. Lady Lucy Vuitton one.”
“Sister of the legendary Louise Vuitton.” Aguacate says giggling.
“She dare insult my drag like, what?” Fiore looks at the others. “Seriously? What does SHE know, calling it SOULLESS with that crunchy dry, quote-on-quote, blonde wig of a disaster that she wore tonight.” Fiore throws a pillow. “I will not be rudely criticized someone who clearly couldn’t blend in that line… down someone’s neck.”
“Jesus.” Jaslene tries to hold in a laugh at Fiore’s shade. .
“And it’s just frustrating- it makes me mad that I aspire for clean, precise perfection in every aspect of my drag. I don’t see many hitting, no offense to your sharpie drag Aguacate, but even with that I’m still delivering middle of the road to the panel, and like-“ Fiore starts going on a tangent but then starts to walk out. “Sorry, I can’t do this right now.”
“Yikes.” Yasmin says.
“Well…” Aguacate smiles. “Back to me.”
King Omari Star: “Everyone thinks they are the star of their own story. But I know this- I’m going with a journey, the waters are lovely… and we’re going to the tail end of the race. So the question is… which star will shine brightest?”
“So much fun.” Yasmin clasps her hands.
King Omari Star: “Well, only one of us has a star in his name.” Omari smirks.
~
The Next Day, Yasmin brings out coffees, as a sheepish Fiore sits alone.
“You ok?” Zazu smiles.
“I’m here.” Fiore shrugs, before turning to face Yasmin. “...Did you make coffee?”
“Is this a venti?” Zazu gasps.
“Wait…” Omari looks confused. “These cups have.. Raiz branded on them?”
“I monogrammed my own coffee cups.” Yasmin smiles.
“Can you make one that says Aguacate on it?” Aguacate turns.
“Woah, this is kinda…” Jaslene sips. “Oh my god.”
“I LOVE coffee.” Yasmin blushes.
You’ve got drag mail!
I love love. Do you love it?
“Love?” Fiore raises an eyebrow.
It’s Drag Time!
Hi Racers!
For today’s mini challenge, it’s time for a disco dance party!
~
Zazu Nova, you’re our winner baby!
“I won!” Zazu cheers.
Racers, it’s time for you to play parts in Lovers: The Musical!
Jaslene smirks.
For this week’s maxi challenge, you will be teamed up in the lip sync musical, where you will perform your ass off as a set of historical LOVERS!
Zazu Nova: “A musical?! Yes, I am ready for my singing moment!”
Zazu, as mini challenge winner, you get to assign pairs.
“Oooh!” Zazu smiles. “I’ll take Omari.”
Omari chuckles. “Okay…”
Zazu Nova: “Yes, we’ve struggled- but I know we can perform well together. Every DANCE moment together has been good.” Zazu winks.
“The funny girls…” Zazu smiles. “Yasmin and Aguacate.”
The two wink.
And that leaves… Jaslene and Fiore!
The two look at each other. “Well.”
Jaslene Bangus: “Seriously, Zazu?”
Good luck racers… and do not FUCK IT UP!
~
The racers sit down and look at the roles.
“Soooo…” Zazu smiles. “These are the roles.”
“JFK and Jackie O. Romeo and Juilet. Antony and Cleopatra.” Yasmin purses her lips.
Everyone looks over, before Jaslene raises her hand.
“Zazu, I have a question.” Jaslene says.
“Oh, sure!” Zazu smiles.
“Have you set me up by putting us together?” Jaslene purses her lips. “Because real talk… I haven’t received a single word from her.”
Fiore rolls her eyes. “We haven’t decided how to play it yet.”
“So… if you set me up, girl, own it. But if you didn’t, well… Girl, if you aren’t giving cunt…” Jaslene looks at Zazu. “Maybe you’re just silly.”
“I’m a water sign, I’m giving FISH.” Zazu winks, before stopping. “...I didn’t realize. I thought it was a solid pairing, sorry.”
“Mmmmhm.” Fiore says sarcastically.
“We’ll make it work.” Jaslene responds.
“JFK is my favorite, because, talk about a man with a good shot in the head!” Yasmin laughs. “So I’d like that role! To be the gorgeous first lady, her man by her side..”
Omari stares in horror.
Aguacate: “That is CLEARLY a role one is favored over the other. I do not want that.”
“Actually…” Aguacate raises her hand. “For me, I’d actually like ANTONY and CLEOPATRA.”
“Oh, sure.” Yasmin nods. “I’ll take it.”
Yasmin Raiz: “This is a team challenge, and I want to do it smooth- and efficiently.”
“I’d really think we do well with Romeo and Juilet.” Omari grins. “It’s a classic stereotype, but…”
“It’s a good one.” Zazu winks.
“And that leaves… JFK and Jackie.” Zazu smiles.
“I’ll take Jackie.” Fiore responds, grabbing the book.
“Let’s make it work.” Jaslene nods.
~
The teams start practicing their roles.
“So… we’re ANTONY and Cleopatra.” Aguacate smiles.
“Woo!” Yasmin cheers.
“I want us to be the most extravagant, most over the top artists of all time.” Aguacate smiles.
“Ooooh…” Yasmin nods.
Yasmin Raiz: “I am aware me and Aguacate are not the PERFORMERS of the cast. We’re not Jaslene or Zazu- lip sync assassins. But I am quietly confident.” Yasmin winks.
“To me, you seem like you could be a Roman General.” Aguacate grins. “I want the chaos of CLEOPATRA…”
“I feel like I can do either role, either way.” Yasmin says. “The same with the JFK and Jackie O. I can do this another way, either way- I’m versatile.”
“I heard that about you.” Aguacate smirks, before stopping. “You've mentioned it again.”
“...What?”
“Clearly, you wanted that role. You didn’t fight for it.” Aguacate purses her lips. “Why?”
“Because I believe we can do it either way.” Yasmin says. “I’ve been consistent, I’ve been showing up-”
“Where are you girl?” Aguacate asks. “I don’t see it. Consistent is good, but girl, we’re here to STEAL the show.”
Yasmin raises an eyebrow.
“Yell bitch, tell me how you want it.” Aguacate screams. “I want to be here till the end, DO YOU?!”
“I do!” Yasmin nods.
Agucate looks at Yasmin. “Show it.”

“Well, we’re here.” Fiore looks at Jaslene.
Fiore Stravaganza: “I’m paired… yet… yet again.” Fiore growls.
“I don’t want to work with you.” Jaslene says. “But we must.”
"You know what, Jaslene? I don't want to work with you either! But we have no choice, so let's just get this over with and win."
“You’re the one who's been complaining- and almost left.” Jaslene growls, before narrowing her eyes. "Let's just pretend to be the loving, passionate couple on stage, while we're at each other's throats offstage."
The music starts, and Jaslene springs into action, hitting each and every move, until Fiore arrives- and very quickly, very clearly, Fiore is struggling.
“Ugh…” Fiore exhales, walking off the stage.
“Let’s do it.” Jaslene looks at Fiore. “Come on.”
"Damn it, Jaslene! Can't you give me a break? You're making me look like a fool up there!" Fiore's voice cracks.
"I'm doing my part, Fiore. Maybe if you focused more on actually learning the steps and less on complaining, you wouldn't look like such a fool."
"Oh, I'm sorry if I'm not as perfect as you, Miss Lip Sync Assassin!” Fiore snaps.
“You’re the one who abandoned the AE Girls!” Jaslene yells back.
“What does that have to do with anything?!” Fiore's eyes narrow. "First off, I didn't abandon anyone! I've been focused on winning this competition and giving my all to every challenge. Unlike you, who seems to be more interested in stirring up drama and picking fights."
"Don't you dare try to twist this around on me, Fiore. I've been nothing but supportive to everyone here, including you. But all you care about is yourself and your precious victory."
Fiore scoffs. "Oh please, spare me the holier-than-thou act. I've seen through your facade from day one. You're just as self-centered as the rest of us, maybe even more so."
Jaslen steps forward. "You have no idea what I've been through, what I've sacrificed to be here. You think you're so superior with your acting skills and your high-class drag, but let me tell you something, Fiore: talent alone doesn't make you a good person or a good friend."
Fiore sighs. "I never said I was a good person or a good friend, Jaslene. But at least I'm honest about who I am. I've been laser-focused on this competition because it's my chance to prove myself, to show the world what I'm capable of. And if that means I've been distant or cold, then so be it."
“Let’s just do this challenge.” Jaslene exhales.
“Now that I can agree with.” Fiore sighs.

Zazu and Omari walk onto the stage.
“Let’s hold hands and talk about our feelings.” Zazu smiles.
“...Jesus Christ.” Omari whispers under his breath, before chuckling. “Okay, let’s have fun with it.”
“Yes!” Zazu grins.
“I can do the choreo.” Omari nods. “Like romeo…” Omari drops to his knees, twirling. “Spin.”
“Juilet SPINS!” Zazu drops to the floor, spinning.
“I leap.” Omari leaps, and the words start.
Zazu hits every single line, and Omari looks in surprise.
“I shouldn’t be surprised… but damn.” Omari exhales. “You’ve got it.”
“You got the choreo, I’ve got this for us.” Zazu smiles. “We good?”
“Of course, I’m great.” Omari grins.
“What star sign are you?” Zazu pouts.
“... I am Pisces.”
“Oh my GOD, I am a Pisces!” Zazu yells. Zazu grabs Omari's hands and looks into his eyes with excitement.
“Oh-”
"Omari, this is fate! We're both Pisces, which means we're connected by the stars. We're meant to be partners in this challenge, not just on stage but in our emotions too. Let's dive deep into the depths of our characters and express all the love, longing, and passion they embody!" Zazu yells. “You don’t have to lie. This challenge is…”
“Scary?” Omari says. “That the journey is non-linear, that I don’t have a second win yet, that I don’t have a solo win…”
Zazu smiles. "Omari, my dear, dear Pisces. Embrace the unknown, for that is where true growth lies. This challenge is an opportunity for you to break free from your stoic shell and reveal the depths of your emotions. You have a vulnerability within you, and I believe it's time to let it shine."
Omari looks at Zazu. “Yes, I am nervous and perhaps this journey has been harder then I expected.”
Zazu clicks her fingers.
"It’s like I’ve said, I've always been guarded with my emotions. It's how I've protected myself all these years. But maybe... maybe it's time to let go of that guard, even just for a moment."
Zazu grins. "Yes! Let the stars guide you. Use the energy of this challenge to tap into your true emotions. Allow yourself to feel, to express, and to connect."
Omari takes a deep breath and grins. "Alright, Zazu. I'll trust your guidance. Let's make this performance unforgettable."
“PISCES ELEGANZA!” Zazu cheers.
~
The racers chat as they get ready for the main stage challenge.
“So, does anyone have any idea what they’d like to do with the crowning money, if they were to win this season?” Yasmin smiles.
“$100,000…” Zazu’s eyes light up.
“I’ve already made $10,000…” Aguacate smirks. “I cannot wait to make another $115,000.”
“115?” Jaslene says, confused.
“This, next week, the week after that. Final 3.” Aguacate grins.
“Gosh, I don’t even plan for those things…” Jaslene chuckles.
“Same.” Yasmin smiles. “I’m here for the ride…”
Aguacate looks at Yasmin.
“But you know, I’m here to win and give my all too, so that’s good to know.” Yasmin chuckles, as Aguacate nods.
“For me, this money would go back to my community- with some for myself.” Omari nods. “I value the scene, and- the reality is there isn’t much. I am one of a few Kings- in a scene with a few drag artists. I want the power to be invested back in it.”
“I feel the same.” Yasmin smiles. “The scene in Guyana isn’t like those more- mainstream countries. I will support and guide others, so people know- we’re here, we’re queer, get used to it.”
“Fuck yeah.” Omari snaps his fingers in agreement.
“I will use it for myself, and my girls.” Jaslene smiles. “We’re all supportive of each other- my drag sisters and me. And I want them to feel the love.”
“I’ve got the same idea for my drag mom.” Zazu nods. “She’s saved me, and I’d love to help her.”
Fiore nods, looking over.
“I’d love to help my parents.” Aguacate looks in the mirror. “I think- I think they’d need it.”
“Think?” Omari asks.
Aguacate shrugs, clearly not interested in continuing further.
“Either way, this competition, this moment- we’re all going away, with money, pride- and the ability to change our lives, forever.” Fiore glares into the mirror.
“Exactly.” Yasmin smiles.
The 6 look at each other, ready for the night ahead.

2023.06.09 22:37 modsplsnoban Do people here actually want Gregg Berhalter back?

Before the World Cup, we all had many complaints about Berhalter.
Including -
Let's not forget 2019 loss in the Gold Cup to Mexico.
Also, poor team choice selection considering our talent, and poor substitution record.
He also was pretty bland tactically, which resulted in games where we'd create nothing with our wingers/midfield (strongest aspects). He focused on pushing our FB high and wide, leaving our center backs on an island. He wouldn't change tactics, which would come back to bite us (see poor performances previously, as well as being out coached vs Holland).
He did have some highlights, including the Nations League win vs Mexico in 2021 as well as the Gold Cup in 2021. We also did qualify, even if we looked shaky.
I see excuses of "young team", but quite a bit of our players have played high levels of soccer in Europe. This includes competing in the Champions League, Europa League, top of League Tables, and Domestic Football Cups. Most of them have played together in the youth setup as well at high levels (e.g. youth WC).
Ultimately, our talent pushed us over the line, even if the coach was unintentionally bring them down.
It really seems like most people who want him back are those who only have watched recently (starting during the WC), or those dig their heels in even if they see the faults of GGG.
Honestly, if the federation wanted GGG back, he would have been back already. If not, it shows how inept the federation is by waiting, which should also bring into question IF GGG is actually a good coach at the international level.
