Hi y'all I'm kinda new to this whole reddit thing but it's anonymous so this is where I'll post this. And if this isn't allowed then feel free to delete.
So I'm a 24 year old male and I live in a small town in Illinois. I currently still live with my parents. Yes I have a job. I also pay them $350 a month in rent. I pay for my own groceries, gas, car insurance, and even pay for the streaming services that we all use. But that stuff isn't important to this story/question.
So for those of you who live in Illinois or know someone living in Illinois chances are you know that this state sucks. Taxes are high, the roads are almost always in rough shape, winter time sucks, housing is expensive. And the job market is just always lousy pickings. It's all either fast food, farming or factory work.
I don't really know what I want to do with my life but I do know that I don't want to spend it all living here in Illinois. There are so many times where I've just wanted to get in my car and just start driving south and see where the road takes me. I plan to someday move somewhere warm, somewhere I'm not completely miserable. My question is is there anyone here who has just up and moved? Was it worth it? Where would you recommend moving too? And how much did it cost you to do so?

I’ve struggled with my mental health since I was 17. Depression they said but I always knew it was more yet society paints this picture where you can’t have anything wrong so I tried faking my way through.
I had a child at 22 and I vowed she would never see the life I had (foster care, abuse) and poured my heart into raising her. There was nothing she went without and I was a single mom, sometimes working 2-3 jobs just to make enough for her to live a normal life. She was my best friend. I was hers. I got remarried when she was 5. When she turned 16 and began driving I got her a car and everything changed. She now had a ton of friends and was always in the go, I was so proud of her but knew I was losing her in ways.
My marriage was failing fast. My mental health began struggling more too. I coped by using a pill addiction from a back injury and alcohol. It was the beginning of the end. Her senior year I was going through the divorce and back to being a single parent and her demands were greater. The stress was so much for me and I had a nervous breakdown and heart attack. You would think this would have woke me up but I fell harder into the addiction to escape.
I couldn’t be there for her like I was. I could barely take care of myself and she resented me so much. I pushed myself to work and put her through college all while struggling with my world. Nothing was ever good enough and she began changing so much. She was now so resentful and demanding and rather than standing up for myself I just tried harder to please her.
Eight years ago I had my worst mental breakdown and ended up hospitalized, tried committing suicide 3 times and finally went to rehab and got help. She became more distant and hardly talked to me at all then. I made excuses up in my head of why rather than confronting the problem. My health has been poor, I’ve been in and out of the hospital for various things and have done it all alone. Lucky to even get a phone call. Everything I get is by text only. I’m now on disability and so ashamed and feel like a failure. I am in her eyes for sure.
During the past 8 years since, she got married and eloped and didn’t even tell me til after. We stopped seeing each other on holidays for she always had other plans with her new family. I recently found out she’s pregnant and thought that this will be the thing that helps us get closer again, how wrong I was. Once again I keep making excuses for her treatment of me..hormones? Every day she lashes out at me for something or another by calling me dumb, stupid, a fucking idiot…I can’t do anything right anymore. So disrespectful and cold. I heard from her MIL that she has no intention of even letting me see the baby after it’s born because of “the way I am”. Whatever that means.
I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m mentally drained and so hurt and alone. She is all I have other than a couple friends. I have no family other than her. I’m lost. The kinder I try to be the worse she gets. I don’t know if I should give up or keep trying anymore. I never dreamed as close as we were we’d become so estranged like we are. What do I do?

I have known my best friend for 13 years, and ever since we were kids he would sometimes make these little white harmless lies about his life but I thought nothing of it since back then we were kids and he was just trying to seem cool in front of other kids. As we got to our teenage years he stopped with the lies completely, but in the last 6 months something just snapped in his head. Firstly I ignored his lies and pretended that I believe everything he says because I thought that would make him happy, he has head a very rough life and his relationship with his family isn’t the best so he has been fighting depression for a long time. I noticed that since he started making up these lies he has been a lot better and his mental health has improved greatly. Although his lies have just gotten ridiculous to the point where even an idiot couldn’t believe him, he is telling people that he is training MMA which is technically true but he is telling them that he has professional contract and pro boxing matches for a huge sums of money, I even noticed that he has been putting make up on his face in order to fake bruises… I would be even fine if it just stopped there, but he has been telling people that he also works as a super car mechanic and is also mentioning a huge sums of money, he also told his girlfriend that he bought her a watch that used to belong to the famous singer in our country but he ofc has no proof of any of this, he even told me that he wrote and sold a famous song from an American rapper… I feel terrible when he tells me all of this because I feel like an idiot having to swallow all of this. Yesterday it got to my last nerve, I asked him where has he gotten his perl bracelet cuz I thought it was pretty cool and after a few hours he showed up at my doors with another bracelet, same as his, and he told me it were made of real pearls and as usually I just ignored that because bracelet was soooo obviously fake that it was an insult to my intelligence to pretend that it wasn’t, but bracelet wasn’t the problem, he told me that he bought it for 500$ and would sell it to me for 30$… Do I now have to seriously give him 30$ and pretend that I’m grateful or should I confess him? The most painful thing is the fact that I know he has probability bought it for 5$ and is trying to resell it to me for much more. The thing is even my mutual friends have noticed how much he lies and now it’s ruining my reputation as well since we are best friends… I’m scared that he might fall into depression again if I confront him because I believe that he has convinced himself that he is successful and finally found happiness in his lies.

So I have started to use YT music after being with Spotify for years...tbh I don't think I am going to stay using it.
Things that are missing/annoy me
Importing playlists is limited to 10 a day
When Importing playlists, it shows how many songs weren't available for import, for me this was only 1 or 2 tracks across so far 30 playlists and 1000s of song, I was ok with this until I started to play my playlists... like 50% of songs, are random edits, live or extended versions, non vocal, remixes, feats, covers, foreign releases it's ludicrous how often it's happening. A prime Example of this, I imported the track "All the things she said by Tatu". Instead of YT Music saying we don't have that song it added the song "All the Things she said (Made Popular by Tatu)" ... a load of funky gibbon teens singing some messed up version of the track. Next time just don't do it.
Lack of official Alexa Skill app. I used Google and AA in my car, but at home I have an Alexa home. All other popular music streaming apps have skills... apart from YT.
No support for playing on external devices other than the odd google cast. One good thing about Spotify, was options to say where to play, I can pick Alexa, Sonos, Onyko amps, TVs, PCs, not in YT, if it doesn't support google/chrome case you are out of luck.
No proper app for the PC/phone with intuitive offline mode.
Playlist management feels limited, no folders and shuffle multiple playlists, no view changes
No track options such as fade
No Equalizers options
No Social element.

Or, yesterday. Before the national news and the locals were just reporting, they read the mission statement of that school. It was some shit like, “we turn children into who god wants them to be”
I just checked, the website is offline. Took their website down. Hid it away from the prying eyes of the public. Wonder what all it said.
Then, you know. On the national news, some kinda specialist on why does this keep happening. The first thing they said is that typically the assailant has some kind of grudge against the school. Went there and has some kind of grievance with the establishment.
The local news is where the best coverage is, they’re right there and they run with it before it gets scrubbed. You know. First on the scene. Then when a story goes national, it’s presented in such a way to push a certain narrative.
But, what’s always being left out of the conservation is that the kids that do these kinda things were bullied. They were the victim of bullying while there. I mean, every instance.
Kinda, not sandy hook. That kid felt like the school was stealing his mother from him. Then, they’ve made it the policy to not talk about the shooter, that makes them popular and when you give it attention …
You know. So, well, ignoring the issue ain’t helped. Doing absolutely nothing, that didn’t fix it.
Maybe the problem is the guns. Sure, ok. Fine. but, those ain’t going no where. I mean, they’re never going to ban guns in this country, the gun lobby is too big. Too much money. There will always be guns. Hell, the people saying they’re going to get banned, nah, that’s just the gun ads. Selling more.
Scare ya into getting some more cause they’re going away. Bull fucking shit. You know how much money that is and how much they make. Pfffffttttt. Yeah, that’s a hopeless fight.
But, you know. These school shootings didn’t start until those anti-bullying measures went into place, and that kinda leads me to believe that what you’re doing isn’t working. And, i’m dying to know what the school is all about.
Idk, some kinda private christian school in a super affluent part of town. Weird, and now it’s being covered like everything’s business as usual, and that’s what those school shootings have become, just business as usual in america.

Back then, way, way, way back then, my hometown was a boomtown from the mines that went in, and the town supplied the miners with what they needed. Which judging by the businesses they put in was just bootleg and broads.
Other than the mines, there was just those other three main businesses in town, you know. Gambling. That was big, most of the buildings downtown were saloons. Then, there was the moonshine, you know. They made it right here, up in the hills, local stuff, you know.
Yes, that is part of the reason the area required a whoremonger. You know, someone who could find up girls who wanted to live that life and train ‘em up. And, then, you know. Help them to find jobs. Idk, that’s the most polite and straightforward way i could say it.
I mean, it is what is, i mean, you know. The town doesn’t like that history so they like to play at the history of our towns being something else, but that’s what the fuck it is. And, yeah. All the criminals still the fuck around. None of us went no where.
But, that’s the real history of where i’m from. Back to before, you know. Back when … well, ok. So, yeah, it was totally my family that did all that shit. Yep. both sides. My mom’s side was the whoremongers and my dad’s every damn thing else.
Orgainized crime. But, to be fair, we were most all the residents of the town. So, you know. We were the founders, or you know, main residents of the town that some guy, idk, some french guy came up and named.
It ain’t exactly easy to get there, but there’s three straight roads in. and, you know. It was just a place people went to gamble and drink and what have you. That’s all that town ever was.
And, you don’t have to worry about the law up there, cause they run that, too.
That attracted other criminal types, you know, they thought this would be a nice place to retire. So, you know. Lots and lots and lots of criminals around. But, then the churchies took over, you know. Down at the courthouse
They ran on not being criminals.
Can you imagine. Well, the townspeople voted for that, for not having criminals run the sherriff’s office and courthouse and every other thing you could run in town. That was when my family got the boot. Wasn’t the law no more.
I thought he retired. He did retire, right when they voted him out. If you ask enough people, you can get a clearer picture of the story. But, i’d be talking to everyone close to death right now. They got the most to tell

Hi! I currently have a 2013 innova and I need a car which is good to use in case of floods (just the usual floods not the crazy reaching the neck kind). I’m thinking of getting an old car but I’m a little attached to the innova since it was my grandma’s car. Any suggestions with what I can do with the innova? Or just go to a shop and tell the guys to change the suspension? Around 200 ground clearance would be fine I think? I still plan on modifying it too so if you guys have any suggestions and pics, pls let me know! Thanks

I recently reverted to an older version of Spotify, as the newest update made the app unusable as a free user. I can't even navigate in my daily mixes and daily drive Playlist anymore. Since then, Spotify suddenly decided to eat huge amounts of data in sudden surges.
On my ride to work this morning I listened to two podcasts für about 30 minutes and Spotify used up 440mb of mobile data.
Yesterday, I was around 80mb, but after my ride home, Spotify suddenly ate 180mb of data. I use android auto in my car.
Had the same data surge on the weekend while I was out and about. It used 20mb and suddenly I was at 200mb. Navigating the app also seems to eat a lot of data all of a sudden.
Do you guys have an idea how I could fix that? It wasn't this bad up until last week when the update came.
Should I try a different version of the app?

I have rode on Amtrak several times in my life (but with no recent long distance sleeping car experience) but for the life of me I do not know the answers to these questions:
Is it safe and/or allowed to dispose of person toilet wipes (like butt wipes) in the toilets?
Are air fresheners allowed or frowned upon to be used in rooms?
Is there one room attendant per sleeping car or just one for all sleeping cars?
Does the attendant normally let passengers off and on at stops for fresh air breaks and boarding/deboarding? Or is it always the conductor doing so from one of the coach cars? Or during "sleeping hours" do sleeping car passengers always have to get off and on through conductors in a coach car? I ask because I do not have a "normal" sleeping pattern and am frequently awake during dark hours.
