2023.06.05 04:47 lyridsreign [AETHER][MIDGARDSORMR][FC][LFM] JOIN AZURE INFINITUM! A Growing, Global, Inclusive, Active, Organized, and Friendly Community Awaits You! Welcoming Players Of All Experience, Availability, & Play-Style!

We are Azure Infinitum
Visit us at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/)
You may have seen us in the Aether data center's party finder during our weekly events, or may have seen our recruitment shouts around the realm in-game in Midgardsormr, but there just isn't enough space in those places to really explain everything wonderful about what our Free Company and community is.
Azure Infinitum is an LGBTQ+ friendly community, and welcomes players of all experience level, play style, and availability. We're a warm home with a balance of online players, weekly optional activities, and flexible ranks from our membership, to our support & leadership categories. We have a 24/7 Support Team, a Councilship that governs each tier, seasonal events of our own, and many resources between the games we support and online services.
Who We Are
We are an established 9-year old community who's home is in Midgardsormr Server of Final Fantasy XIV. We are a structured, well-rounded, welcoming, friendly, and organized community that hosts daily events (check out our calendar: https://azureinfinitum.com/events/ ) that provide opportunity for members to excel. We work to provide an arena and opportunities to establish strong bonds and camaraderie between our members. As a community we are driven, we carry each other forward, and we are proud.
Our Name & Philosophy
Learn more about our global community here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/aboutus/)
Learn more about our FFXIV Free Company here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/ourffxivfc/)
Azure Infinitum means "Azure/Blue Infinity or Infinite Blue/Azure" and there is some mythos behind the name that stems from our guild-wide philosophy of kindness, freedom, vigilance, diversity and activity. We promote positive fellowship among members in an organized guild, with our sights open to our unending endless skies, full of possibility and success together.
Our motto is "As Free As The Azure Sky!" which stuck well when our FC was restructured from an old guild in 2014 as Azure was founded, and it was first shouted as we looked out at a clear blue sky above. has continued to be our electric victory as we continue to snowball in success and activity, our members soaring high through the Azure Sky, flying together!
Ranks
Click here to learn more about our community ranks: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/ranks/)
Our community has an organized ranking structure beginning with Members who comprise the majority of the roster. Scouts are our support team of Members who've stepped up to more officially support the FC, some work on obtaining a future leadership rank. Lieutenants and Officers comprise the proud Azure Council, a diverse group of players of different specialties and services to the FC, making up lower and higher tier leadership, seeing over the Scouts and the FC weekly events, aside from being admins. The FC Infinitum Master oversees all and leads the Azure Council and the company forward while always keeping the heart and vision of the community alive and in sight. Currently we are re-assessing ranks in the free company, giving more support permissions and duties to our Scouts, while the current council operates as a small team of Lieutenants lead by the FC Master.
Everyone Welcome and Who Fits Best
We have an open door policy. Whether you're casual, a returning player, a veteran, or a newbie, we have a vast array of players in our member roster. Our weekly schedule is organized and provides an array of activity for players of most levels, however we like to ask players who're pretty new or under the level cap, to be extra vocal about their needs while they're still unable to attend some daily events or higher level content that most of our weekly lineup focuses on. We want everyone to have as much fun as possible and have the most success. We find that most players enjoy Azure Infinitum, many have stated that they subscribed to FFXIV much longer than they ever would have imagined after they have been around in our community, as they've gotten involved and experienced all that we offer.
Our FC keeps a daily schedule (see here: https://www.azureinfinitum.com/events/) of events that are hosted by permitted Scouts and Council ranks, these range from 8-man and 24-man raids and map parties, to WT journal groups and trial clear parties or farms, and more- and attending anything isn't mandatory at all here. We're happy to have you, and its up to our members how much they'd like to get involved. Attendance is optional! There's never any stress to attend FC functions.
Savage Raiding Statement
We find that some hardcore raiders looking for free companies just to join their statics who don't already have one, might not fit well if savage raiding is their only or greatest focus, because traditionally Azure does not have a Savage Static, but focuses more on allowing members to organize their own groups and also provides resources to do so. Despite not supporting an official static for the FC, we hope that hardcore raiders enjoy the wealth of our community's wealth of harmony and overall fun, and that everyone may take initiative to seek out or build a raiding static within our community if they are interested, as opposed to missing out on experiencing Azure. Depending on the content season, we may have an Unofficial static lead by a leader, and routinely offer limited time Savage-learning events that may run for a number of months.
Rules and No Drama Policy
Please take a moment to look over our Rules Page at (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/rules/), we find that rude individuals and people who create drama are the outsiders here that don't fit well. We know its a big page, so at least visit the General Rules section before joining.
Recruitment Care & Activity
People of Azure Infinitum are often if not always good natured players who found their way to our community looking for a place with structure, friendliness, organization, and great activity, or they've been scouted during recruitment drives and have been well screened. Its a place where one can be social and attend everything, or relax in the background and enjoy the services and facilities of being in an active, organized, and friendly FC. We actively recruit periodically to assist with upkeep of community activity levels, and to meet new comrades. A community that closes recruitment can be doomed to stagnation. Its normal for a community to have an inner core of die hards who log in daily regardless of content releases, and also have an outer core of individuals that range from those with less availability to those who check in during Patches. This is why we take extra care in keeping the fresh blood flowing into Azure, cautious recruitment, and support our active model by always staying welcoming and sometimes running recruitment campaigns and other services. Like this ad!
Handling Online Drama
Because we keep a no-drama policy and have a strong communication network, it is leadership's ultimate priority to handle any issues that may come up as soon as possible, and most people appreciate our problem solving which has inspired many other communities. Between our Support & Leadership ranks, we use a number of report and resource channels to handle situations, and perform problem solving protocols & tactics to fairly address issues as possible. Drama is inevitable at some point for any online community, so its important to have a large and strong list of moderators (currently around 60!) and a council of leaders (15+) to quickly handle any problems. Luckily, we don't have a lot of drama, but we're always very well equipped and very prepared. Our community has been commended by game staff in the past for our methods, and we have worked with the FFXIV Special Task Force to ensure as much safety to our community as achievable. It should be stressed that it is up to our membership to report to GM's in-game, and to Azure Leadership should any issues or concerns come up. Its also highly recommended that our members appropriately document evidence that can be used to help us assess situations and make proper decisions. Documenation such as screenshots of harassment is a great example! Our members online safety is greatly important to us and is a number one concern of our leadership team. Our Rules Page at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/rules/) describes a bit more in Chapter 3, including other entries on avoiding/ignoring trolls, playing while intoxicated, depression, and more.
Our Philosophy
We believe in our community and its people, how far we can go, how much we can do for each other, being an experienced community who's core values are positive fellowship, formation of bonds, and indomitable unity.
Azure Infinitum tightly grasps success and masters a casual and lucrative weekly play schedule while inspiring motivation and providing avenues for further success, friendships, and camaraderie among all who freely fly together among our Azure skies.
Founding on the principles of intricately forging a generally drama-free experience with keen leadership and a zealous and mighty membership, Azure has striven to guide and support many hundreds of players through every era of Final Fantasy XIV.
With an illustrious history, company lore, impressive statistics, and a model that is adaptable and blessed with innovative ability, Azure Infinitum claims a dominant presence of excellence and player growth that is possible in our community and extended services.
Estate Organization
We have the entire set-up at our estate, from gardens for members and Krakka Root production (free for members' chocobos), to our stables, nicely uniform clean lawn with hangout spots that are popular, with crafting stations, all available NPCs for simple mats and repairs, cut-scene viewer, toybox, triple-triad board, a fully operational and geared fleet of airships and subs, and our Azure Infinitum Assembly Chamber on the top floor for our meetings where announcements are made at our Grand Assemblies. Check it out if you like at Mist Ward 7 Plot 1.
We also have an organized form of gathering for weekly events in the yard, places to relax, food that is always available on tables at our Cellar, and hold a lot of special events and social games at our Hall. We're also conveniently located next to a Market Board and a Retainer Bell outside of our estate.
Communication and Extended Azure Services
We have multiple services of which none are mandatory, but we provide being (azureinfinitum.com) where our Forums, Event Calendar, News, Company Meeting Summaries, Seasonal Merch Giveaways, Contests, Rules Page, and more take place and can be found. We also have a popular and active Discord Server.
We also have a Facebook Group, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Steam Group, (Look us up! Or visit: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/socialmedia/) and Linkshells like our Infinitum Alliance LS for contact and aid from our allies if needed, our Azure Hunters LS for Hunters, and our Azure Industry LS which connects our members to our inner crafting/gathering community for newbies to pros.
Also worthy of mention is our big Company Meetings in-game, known as Azure Infinitum Grand Assemblies. Even though we have several avenues that keep people connected, our live assemblies gather the FC in unity where announcements are made first, and all proposals, ideas, and more, can be decided together live with the Azure Council present.
This network ensures a lot of information and communication gets around and has been exceedingly useful to us.
More On Events
One part of our reputation that often precedes us is our event crafting and hosting.
First, let me make sure its clear that attendance is never mandatory, but those who can make use, when possible, of what we provide each day, benefit from our events each week.
Since our beginning, traditions like our Thursday Treasure Thursdays events have run each week. Our weekly line-up presently begins on Tuesdays post-weekly reset, and consists of Raid Tuesdays, Wondrous Wednesdays (WT Journal Parties, often doubles as Trial Clears and Pony Drops), Treasure Thursdays (Endwalker's timeworn maps with groups of 8 doing up to 3 rounds of maps allowing for up to 24 maps ran), 24-Man Tuesdays (full pre-formed Azure 24-member alliances are made and raids are cleared, will be returning upon the release of EW's 24-man), Super Azure Slayer Sunday (our weekly meetup to do all sorts of PVP content be it Rival Wings or Frontline), and Monstrous Mondays (helps clear the current and previous patch extreme trials).
Special, Seasonal, and Quarterly Events
More info here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/azureday/)See the latest event news & more at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/news/)
We also have what we call Special and Quarterly Events. These types of events are Weekend-Long-Events that usually consist of a theme or celebratory social events we craft. During these events we hold big Riddle Races, Costume/Glamour shows and contests, 3-Story Mansion Maze Races, Speedrun Dungeon Races, Hide and Seek games, Custom Quest Events, Discord events like Cards Against Humanity nights, Comedy events, PVP Tournament Circuits, and more.
Our Special and Quarterly events are Azure Day Weekend (Takes place 3 times a year across a weekend, celebrates the FC), Azure Summer Festival (3-days at the end of August in partnership with Child's Play, raises money for children in long-term care, anniversary of historic FC event called the Lunar Rebellion), Anniversary Azure Day (a big weekend event in November that celebrates our Founding), Azure Day Saint's Wake (celebrates Halloween/All Saint's Wake), Azure Starlight Day (celebrating Starlight Day/Christmas/December Holiday Season), Azure Grand Melee and Duel Tournaments (PVP Circuit series crowning our PVP Champions) and more.
Azure Day Weekends
If you've been around our server you may have heard of our Azure Day Weekends. Our Azure Days take place quarterly as mentioned just above, with four evolved editions called Azure Summer Festival, Azure Day Saint's Wake, Azure Starlight Day, and Anniversary Azure Day. With Azure Day Weekends and related events traditionally occuring quarterly our members are always excited to see the next big weekend of crazy and fun social games, and our showering of the free company in gil and prizes galore. We go all out when we celebrate the free company, and Azure Days are another way we find for leadership to give back to the community. 2023 and beyond is now host to additional seasonal Azure Day events!
We're always giving our members a chance to have fun, win big, and make some great memories in the in-game family we've become. Something fun is always on the horizon in Azure.
Community
I almost can't stress enough how friendly our community is. We have a vast variety of members from hardcore gatherers and crafters, social butterflies, chill veterans, experienced raiders, level grinders, support teams, PVP aficionados, mechanic specialists, and mentors. We're also very friendly to all casual players as well and we keep an open door so long as recruits are always aware that we have a no-drama tolerance here.
Evolution into a Gaming Clan & Network
Plans are in the works and foundations are being laid that is slowly turning our community into a larger gaming network, with our first established Azure Wing with regular occurring activity being founded in Monster Hunter World, this has led to a successful Destiny 2 clan and more. Becoming a member of our Discord and/or Free Company now means access to things like our huge discord, Azure Wing membership in other games, and being able to join in on any of our other activities in the general community. Azure Network as its being called at the moment, is growing with an all-new website and community features for playing together across Final Fantasy XIV and to Azure Skies beyond!
Activity
We rank high as one of the top FC's in Worldwide Activity on lodestone, and have for a long time. Most of our players are divided between the US East and West Coasts, members in East and West Canada, and a few outside the US or in EU or Aus zones. Because we do have an activity policy (mentioned below) we keep a standard flow of people, and have crowds in the early morning, late morning, early afternoon, afternoon, evening, and late night crowds.
Elitism isn't our style. Our community boasts a broad range of characters, great personalities, the proud, and also some silly goofs. But elitism isn't welcome, no matter how successful we are or how large we grow. We're always welcoming towards fresh faces interested in joining our guild, and the in-game activity ranges between 30-60+ online at once during prime time hours, sometimes around 70+ on patch days, and usually always with half the roster logging in throughout a 24 hour period, and around 15-30+ during the night.
Activity Policy
We ask that our members do not go missing without logging in for more than 60 days straight. If we hear word from someone or have some kind of decent excuse, we place our members on our On Vacation rank, which lasts presently until 90 days have passed. Exceptions are made for military deployments, hospital stays, financial issues, disability/health related issues, moving, or other reasons that might fall on a case-by-case basis.
All members not heard from in 60 days (roughly 2 months) or currently 90 days (roughly 3 months) are discharged. We allow 3 joins to Azure Infinitum in total, but exceptions can be made due to reasons listed above. If removed for inactivity, or you've left our FC for another reason and haven't already joined 3 times, you're always welcome back, but please remember, we are not a revolving door.
Keeping our roster full of members who have been online and presently play the game actively ensures an active environment for our players who play often. It also keeps our credits and clerical processes balanced across our network, and allows space for new faces to join our big happy in-game family of comrades.

2023.06.05 04:42 screwbitfloor Ref John Goble needs to be investigated

He made a series of questionable calls in the early 4th quarter that completely changed the game. Most notably the back to back offensive fouls he called on Jeff Green and Jokic. JVG even said he thought Jokic's foul was a "poor call".
BORN: November 25, 1978 (Miami, Fla.)
RESIDES: Miami, Fla.
HIGH SCHOOL: Miami Senior (Miami, Fla.)
COLLEGE: Florida International University '01
In what world is he allowed to ref this series?

The skill ceiling in AOE2 is ridiculous compared to chess
My Dad taught me AOE2 when I was younger, and I'd play once every few months or so. I was decent at the game. I feel like most people know the basics of the game, and for people who played as much as I did, I tended to win. I was comfortably better than most people. I rarely 'stomped' people, but I won more than I lost. When I joined voobly in graduate school, my rating was about 600 on random map. Think about that. "better than most people" equates to 600 on random map. I have been consistently playing for a bit over a year now, and I just broke 1400 on Definitive Edition yesterday. I am a good player. I'm not a great player, but I am a good player. According to the percentile I am better than 97% of the players on AOE2 DE. This isn't being better than 97% of all people, this is being better than the 97% of people who were serious enough about the game to play ranked online (granted, that's not a high bar, but it's still a bar). I'm good. I stomp people now. If I played my 600 rated self I would decimated them (me?). I have a 700 team-elo legend friend who I'll play without advancing to the imperial age, and I'll still beat her more often than not. (yes you read that right - I have a friend who is a girl!)
I am not *HALF* as good as the top players. There are people in this world who are consistently breaking 2700. That is ludicrous. I am more likely to lose to a 200 low-elo legend in a fair game than I am to beat TheViper if you let me start in the Feudal Age. People like to make fun of Mr Yo and MBL for not winning big tournaments, but they are competitive at the highest possible levels. Hera's peak rating is 2844, and TheViper’s peak is 2813. And those are Definitive Edition ratings, which is way more competitive, not HD so it's not even a fair comparison. Daut memes around online and is still so good at this game that he literally does "starting the game with four minutes of idle time runs" to the **pro** level *for content.* In-freaking-sane. It blows my mind how good people are at this game. If I plug myself into an Elo odds calculator vs Hera The computer gives me 0.999999665 odds that Hera wins, and 0.000000602 odds of him disconnecting. If you put that into a calculator and add them together it comes out to a rounding error. Count the 9's on that bad boy, there are 6 of them. That is literally less than 1 in a million chance. /anarchychess is twice as likely to end up making an original joke. Here's a fun website showing other things that have a 1 in a million chance of happening https://www.stat.berkeley.edu/\~aldous/Real-World/million.html. I can name 7 famous people, go to wikipedia, hit "random article" and have a greater chance of immediately landing on one of those people than I do at having a chance of beating Hera.
A 600 elo difference equates to about 1 in 100 odds, which we will call "stomping territory." So if we start with my original 600 rating which is *already better than most casual players.* Then a 1200 stomps a 600, an 1800 stomps a 1200, T90Official stomps an 1800, and T90Official gets beaten by Hera93% of the time. Hera playing my 600 rated self is like my boss's boss's boss's boss coming in and telling me I'm doing a bad job. The CEO of Walmart circumventing the regional, district and general mangers to fire the greeter at the local store.
Blows my mind. Chess is so easy in comparison. If I had a solid month to study, I could beat Magnus Carlson.

2023.06.05 04:15 duckowucko [Long-Schall] 1940 Presidential Election

[Long-Schall] 1940 Presidential Election
The leadup to the 1940 General Election has put a large focus on foreign policy following the break out of 2 major wars and the fall of the French Republic. The same policy of isolationism that was so popular just a few years back has taken a turn so strange that it is unlikely any candidate that preaches it is unlikely to go far in the coming years. On the domestic side, the rise of the Socialists and Communist Parties has begun a sort of normalization of cheap and accessible education and even healthcare; though there is still a long way to come.

Huey Pierce Long (Democrat)

34th President of the United States since 1937
President Long has proven quite popular as President with his unmatched speaking ability and appearances all over the country during his tenure so far, making him appear relatable and likable to the wider public. While he is still far from enacting much of his "Share Our Wealth" plans, he has a number of legislative accomplishments under his belt, including: the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1937, Federal Housing Act of 1937, Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, National Healthcare Insurance Welfare Act of 1939, and the Public High Schooling Act of 1940.
Long runs on a platform of continuing his work to improve the life of the poorer man, however he seems to have flipped his side in the foreign policy department… President Long had received so much flak for his hardline Isolationist stance, especially to the war in Europe, and his refusal to change course after the fall of France even caused a huge political alliance running against him. After some early close calls in the primaries though, Long has announced his support for amending the Neutrality Act in favor of shipping limited amounts of arms to the United Kingdom, and has also called on Congress to institute an embargo on all raw materials going toward Germany, Italy, or Japan. Long also espouses that his previous stance still did not stop him from taking responsible steps in the past; pointing to his Naval Rearmament Act of 1938 following the Panay Incident.
Running Mate

Theodore Francis Green

33rd Vice President of the United States since 1937
Though quite unknown as Huey Long's Vice President, he has been credited by staffers and fellow Cabinet members as being a key member of several important meetings, especially on National Security-related affairs. Vice President Green's long-time interventionist mindset may have also played a key role in changing the mind of President Long in recent months. Though they don't get along well, the business-savvy yankee is eager and open to continue his work in the President's cabinet going forward, staying united in the face of the looming crisis.

Wendell Lewis Willkie (Republican)

Lawyer from Indiana
Though this charismatic lawyer has negligible political experience, Willkie has been seen as a viable candidate to return the Republicans to the White House following the end of the Norris administration; especially as many progressive Republicans throw their support behind President Long. Though the Republican Party is experiencing a divide between Conservatives and Liberals, Willkie and his running mate offer a moderate-liberal domestic platform while attacking Long for his lack of action against Nazi Germany following the fall of France. Willkie instead pushes for resource embargos on Germany, Italy, and Japan while also promising to pressure Congress into a naval rearmament plan while amending the Neutrality Act in order to send "Any gun, tank, or cruiser" the United Kingdom can afford.
Running Mate

Charles Linza McNary

Senator from Oregon since 1918
Out of all major players running for President or Vice President, Senator Charles McNary is the senior-most member of Government by far. Currently serving as Republican Minority Leader in the Senate, McNary has supported many of the progressive reforms of George Norris and the more moderate legislation pushed by President Long, such as the Public High Schooling Act of 1940. Where Willkie lacks governmental experience, McNary appears to make up for two-fold. Although there is much divide between the two men; with McNary being more liberal and progressive while Willkie is more moderate and pro-business.

Earl Russel Browder (AFA)

Senator from Kansas since 1935
Earl Browder under the united banner of the Anti-Fascist Alliance finally has the major shot at the Presidency he and his base have dreamed for. While he is one of the most influential Communists in the nation, he promised to take advice from his primary contemporaries and even appoint a multi-party cabinet should he win election. With a coalition like this and supporters like John Dewey, Earl Warren, and Upton Sinclair, most members of the alliance are happy to throw their support behind a Browder Presidency.
Browder is promising a very similar domestic policy to that of President Long, though promising to push for expansions in Social Security, National Health Insurance, and African-American Civil Rights. On the foreign field, Senator Browder promises to work with his allies in Congress to rearm the United States for "The greatest, most devastating war this nation may ever see." A comment which has left many uneased, some accusing him of pursuing foreign war. It is clear that Browder sees foreign war as inevitable in the coming years, and is pledging to put the country through a massive, possibly unconstitutional rearmament campaign for a war much of the public still doesn't want involvement in.
Running Mate

Upton Beall Sinclair

Secretary of Labor since 1937
Outspoken socialist sympathizer and Democratic Secretary of Labor, Upton Sinclair risked his position in President Long's cabinet to provide a less extremist appeal to the currently Communist-led AFA ticket. Sinclair outside of his cabinet and union experience is a rather famous author of books such as "The Jungle" and "The Flivver King".

2023.06.05 04:07 ChessBro96 Annotations of my OTB Quads games (from a 2100+ USCF player)

I had been experiencing a terrible losing streak lately, dropping games that I really shouldn't to the point that I had been 0+ 2= 5- in the past seven games. However, during the past weekend, I felt a sort of divine bout of inspiration swell up inside of me and wanted to try something new out. Of course, the very next day I find out that I'm getting a bye in the next round.
Since I'm a guy who operates on emotional state, I knew I couldn't allow this chance to cool down, so I decided to take a risk and enroll into Saturday's Quads games (G30;d5). I had the unfortunate circumstance of having a last minute entry bump me down to a lower section, which I out-ranked by a good 150 points at least, so I knew I needed at least a 2,5/3 in order to preserve my rating. A link to the study (which was requested previously when I did this) is linked here: https://lichess.org/study/fbOOHr9S/VZl1kEAa
Game 1: In the first round, I was paired as White against a 1917-rated young Indian WCM. I'm primarily an 1.e4 player, but these little rascals have been tactically outplaying me for the past several games, so I decided to change things up and went for an anti-QGD. I actually ended up messing my move orders early on, which allowed her to equalize early because I couldn't guarantee the appearance of an IQP or hanging pawns structure on the board to play off. However, she seemed to be confused by the resulting position — I noticed that young players in these situations tend to attempt to form tactics when the board is quiet, but as a result she ended up floating aimlessly. There were actually two opportunities when she could have obtained an advantage, but she missed them and we ended up going into a rook and bishop endgame. I've also noticed that kids are notoriously terrible at endgames (which as somebody raised on the Soviet school of chess I find hilarious), as she misplayed what I considered a pretty basic endgame, although she was in time trouble at this point (and so was I). I ended up securing the passer and marching it up to victory. 1-0 for me.
Game 2: I was playing against a 1929-rated young Chinese kid as Black this time around and I went for the same strategy in the English Opening: slow the game down as much as possible and not allow any tactics to be induced into the position. And even though there were some moves that the engine ultimately wasn't a fan of, I succeeded in my strategy and ended up with a small edge. I did however miss an opportunity to play a blockade in the middlegame (rapid game, what can I tell ya?) which meant he had an opportunity to secure a plus if he gave away his h2-pawn for the f3-pawn. However, he didn't notice it and went for an endgame a pawn down. However, we both were in a fair bit of time trouble at this point as well and the endgame was quite complex with each side having 5-6 pawns with a knight vs bishop. I messed up some maneuvering that I probably would have gotten on longer time controls... I'll have to work on my endgames some more so that it'd come more intuitively. However, at a moment when he had a chance to equalize, with 30 seconds on the clock, he blundered straight into a fork and instantly resigned on the spot. 2-0 for me.
Game 3: This time, as Black, I was against a 1969-rated fellow Russian player who also scored 2-0 in the previous two rounds, so as they say: the winner takes it all. We went into a fairly well-known sharp line of the Sveshnikov that is no longer played at top level anymore after Peter Leko's 12...Rg8 neutralized it. He ended up fumbling the theory badly and gave a completely winning position for Black. However, I fumbled it as well by going into the endgame with a solid edge rather than pressing the winning position. The issue being that I spent several minutes on calculation before realizing that I actually didn't have enough time to calculate all the variations of the incredibly sharp line, so I was satisfied for going to a positional plus instead. Which we both ended up fumbling a little, but I ended up breaking through with my rook on the queenside and emerging a pawn up with the king on the back rank that I exploited. He resigned as soon as he realized how hopeless his piece-down position was. 3-0 for me.
In conclusion, not bad, scoring a performance rating of 2369 and going from 2127 to 2173 USCF. However, there were definitely a few issues I have to work on despite the wins: the first game needs some work on opening theory and move transpositions if I want to adopt the quieter 1.Nf3 into my repertoire — I can't allow Black to equalize that easily early on. The next two games I had a bit too many fumbles in the endgame, despite their complexity, especially in the second game, which I shouldn't have pissed away like that (42...g4? was an especially sketchy move) so I need a bit more work on knight vs bishop endgames especially. The third game was fine for the most part, but could use a bit of improvement on calculation abilities and especially back rank understandings: I was actually a little confused as to what I should have done against 32.f3 if it had appeared on the board, so that was a combination deficiency right there. Other than that, I can't say that I'm not happy with the result, and hope this offsets some of the rating loss that will be incurred in the ongoing tournament.
Any suggestions and questions are welcome. :)

2023.06.05 03:56 JoeChio [LFG] [STATIC] [DANCER] [SUMMONER] [NA] [AETHER] Two experienced players looking for a static to call home for this tier and beyond!

Hello! My in-game name is Gil Song! I've been playing FFXIV on and off since inception. I played 1.0 BETA and didn't play until 2.0 revamp but I've been playing fairly steadily. I quit after Stormblood and then skipped Shadowbringers. I came back for Endwalker recently. I led a static in Stormblood and main tanked.
My wife Ophellie Song is a SMN. She is NOT a tag along. She is really good at her job and min/maxing. She also has raid experience from Stormblood.
Full disclosure: We are currently in a static but unfortunately half the group is on the West Coast which isn't good for our sleep schedule. Additionally, it seems half our group is progressing during west coast hours when the east coast folks aren't available. I really love our group and will help them find replacements for us should another static reach out for recruitment. I would never leave a group high and dry.
Our absolute number 1 main goal is to find a static that is willing to share in the achievements together. Call me old school but practicing with the static and clearing in Party Finder isn't my definition of a team! It should be the opposite if anything. A GROUP THAT SLAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER! We should share in the glories AND failures together. We are looking for a place to call home not be stepping stones for others.

2023.06.05 03:51 streetyb323 2015 SSBB StreetRank (retrospective ranking of the 2015 season for Brawl)

So basically, I've been working on a retrospective ranking of all of the players who placed pretty high at the biggest Brawl tournaments of 2015, 3 of them being American tournaments, with one Norwegian tournament. Those tournaments specifically being Apex 2015, Super Smash Con 2015, Final Battle, and Garelaf 9. I've ranked all of these players who've done well enough at these specific tourneys, and then ranked the top 15, with 5 HMs.
Note: I do realize that some of these players on this list happened to commit heinous acts and as such are banned from attending certain smash events. I do not support what they did, and they are simply on this list for retrospective purposes.
HMs: Eddy, LOE1, Player-1, Kero, Heru/PK
\#15. Rich Brown
A well known Olimar player from California, he has managed to place 5th at Final Battle, with a win off Kiraflax, someone previously ranked on the 2014 SSBBRank.
\#14. Seagull Joe
Seagull Joe has managed to work his way up on this ranking, placing 17th at Apex 2015, and a staggering 5th at SSC 2015. He is certainly considered to be the best Wolf main on this list.
\#13. Shimitake
Shimitake has been attending a handful of events around this time period, attending Final Battle and Apex 2015, placing 13th and 7th respectively at these events. Shimitake also managed to beat Chrim Foish (or known as Chris Fisch around this time), someone who was previously ranked 98th on the 2014 SSBBRank.
\#12. cyve
A well known German Diddy Kong main, cyve has managed to get ranked on this power ranking, placing 7th at Apex 2015, beating Mr. R and Alphicans. He has proven himself to get on this ranking.
\#11. Bloodcross
Bloodcross is a force to watch out for if he ever picks up Brawl again, as he managed to place 9th at Super Smash Con 2015, as well as beating 8BitMan, who was previously ranked 86th on the 2014 SSBBRank.
\#10. Mr. R
Although Mr. R has gotten rusty over the years, he is definitely still at least at top 10 level around this era, placing 9th at Apex 2015, as well as beating Toronto Joe, so don't sleep on him!
\#9. SlayerZ
Although no one really expected a Peach main to get this far on the list, SlayerZ has proven himself to get top 10 on this list, managing to get 3rd at Final Battle, as well as beating Shimitake, as well as beating MVD. He is certainly proven himself to be top 10 on this list.
\#8. Vinnie
Known as one of the best Ice Climbers mains in the world, Vinnie is certainly a person to watch out for, placing a solid 5th at Apex 2015. He also has a win off cyve, making him the best Ice Climbers main on this PR.
\#7. MVD
Widely known as the 2nd best player in Florida, formerly being ranked 1st (ESAM was on the 0th spot) on the final Florida Brawl Power rankings, he has proven himself to be the 2nd best Snake player on this power ranking, and in Florida as a whole, managing to beat Salem.
\#6. Salem
Trailing right behind V115/VZ as one of the best Zero Suit Samus's, the Apex 2013 champion is definetely not far off from retaking the throne as the best Brawl Zero Suit Samus player, beating Vinnie and V115/VZ, as well as getting 4th at Apex 2015. He is certainly a threat, so don't sleep on him!
\#5. V115/VZ
V115/VZ has worked his way up over the years, as well as being one of the best Zero Suit Samus's in his country. All that work has led up to him being #5 on this ranking, beating Shimitake, Seagull Joe, and Kero, and also managing to place 5th and 4th at Apex 2015 and SSC 2015 respectively. He's certainly gotten better over the years, and this is just an example of how good he's gotten.
\#4. ESAM
ESAM has proven that he is still top 5 level when it comes to this game, defeating Nairo at SSC 2015, as well as beating V115 and MVD. Although being 6-0'd pretty bad at Smash Con, he is certainly still a formidable opponent.
\#3. Nairo
Although Nairo has a negative record with both Mew2King and Ally, as well as losing to ESAM at SSC 2015, he has proven he is still skilled to get #3 on this list. Nairo has been to the most tournaments out of all of the people on this list, attending SSC 2015, Apex 2015, and Final Battle. He also has a positive record over MVD and Mr. R, which is why he deserved this spot.
\#2. Mew2King
Widely regarded as the greatest Brawl player of all time, Mew2King should not be deemed as "rusty" during this time period. He managed to beat ESAM 2 times, a person that he used to go to game 5 with back in 2012-2014. Mew2King is also the Smash Con 2015 champion for Brawl, brutally 6-0ing ESAM in winners and grand finals respectively. Which is why he deserves to be #2.
\#1. Ally
The Apex 2009 champion came back to reclaim his throne as one of the best Brawl players, defeating Nairo 2 times in Apex 2015, as well as defeating V115, MVD, Vinnie, and Mr. R. Winning the biggest tournament of the year was no easy feat, especially with these players in attendance, but Ally has proven that it could be done.

Welp there you have it. Although I don't think I did the very best on these rankings, I still believe that this could be the closest thing for a ranking for the 2015 season, which I do believe is underrated and no one really gives attention to it.

2023.06.05 03:38 abusivereddit This game is just not the same and it can’t ever be unless role queue is removed

The best part of this game was quickly finding a game and also crushing your counter pick with a fat tank and winning last minute.
All that is gone and now it’s a compartmentalized mess where players don’t know what they’re good at because it feels like four different game modes instead of simple qp or comp
Another problem is bad players which can be fixed by making every hero viable including healers so that even a person play mercy doesn’t feel stuck in that role but instead they just don’t know what to do with them and made a few supports more op hoping that people have second healers which is another dumb idea to force team work on random people and expect them to work synchronously
Old overwatch was a different game. It was fun. But now it’s just a defeat screen simulator. I tried other games like apex, fortnite but they’re all not that smooth or bouncy feeling like overwatch. I did find a mobile game T3 arena which is a more accessible ow clone and works on pc as well. This game is actually kinda good because it feels like old ow with valorant mixed and 3rd person and it’s not a shitty br and has actual payload maps and 5v5 with high ranks. this and dbd mobile have effectively replaced my pc by scratching that same itch but at an objectively reduced visual quality with more precise controls (high sens + gyro= better than mouse). I think mobile is definitely the best way to game and i’ve been gaming for all my life. But it took a long time to get here and most games are still very gatcha but being able to feel like playing overwatch at work is definitely worth something

2023.06.05 03:37 weesIo Had a wholesome interaction with 2 low levels.

So I was at the end of my play session and decide to comb the map for newbies to dumpbestow aid items on them.
I spot a level 3 at Morgantown airport (did he just run straight there?) trying his best to hide from the scorched. I clear them out and emote for him to “follow me” to the lootbag I dropped, which he went to, but no matter how much I shot at it it’s like he didn’t know what to do with it or couldn’t see it. I said oh well and went to leave, but then I noticed 2 level 16s next to each other in Morgantown proper.
I walk over to greet them and give them some goodies and I guess I startled them quite a bit. To be fair I would be too if a level 500 in pink power armor jumped off a roof and landed right next to me lol. One of them drew their gun and backed up while the other one sprinted straight into the high school! I waved and placed down some chems for them, and after a few moments the one with the gun drawn slowly inspects the loot bag. Immediately after the other player comes out of the building and they both start doing little bunny hop. I love the bunny hops.
To them and all other new players, enjoy your time in the wasteland! And get the Cold Shoulder quick!

2023.06.05 03:36 damjanv1 what are the best (and most important) non NBA games (featuring NBA players) that ppl may not be aware of

framed from the pov view of what games are must-watch if you want to understand the NBA and the forces that created it (but aren't actual NBA games), Inspired by u/honeyspring dropping some knowledge in the Jokic / Sabonis thread (nba) I thought what are some of the most significant non-nba games (that ideally changed your perception of a players NBA trajectory)
Ideally looking for matches that made a players reputation (that the average fan would be unaware of) or are just epic matches that have historical significance (and again an NBA fan would be unaware of.
My nomination is Yugoslavia vs lithuiania in the 1995 European finals. 2 powerhouses. Divac vs past peak but still a force Sabonis. One of the first guards to make it as a contributor in the NBA in Danjilovic going off (and serving up a mean facial on Sabonis). 2 NBA guards (Marciulionis and Djordjevic) that were drafted in the wrong era but playing at their absolute peak (and a record breaking game by Djordjevic). The Lithuanians walking off and then being persuaded back in protest. unreal shotmaking. this game had it all. I highly recommend that anyone interested in NBA history or European basketball to watch it
full game here https://youtu.be/yhAfDvT28GA
Honorable mention.
- A young Bogdan Bogdanovic (who rightly afterward got his flowers at fernebache before coming to the NBA) averaging 31 pts (huge under FIBA rules) in a 4-game finals series against rivals red star (Crvena Zvezda) in some of the most heated in-arena environment. That year's partizan team also had a young Davis Bertans and Joffrey Lauvregne. Bogdanovic played one of the games (not in the finals but still against their main rival iirc ) partly 3 on 5 a la Morant in college https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-clhsxCz1g. will try and find the videos later (of his finals run). he also got choked by his coach https://youtu.be/12LtzBxhqqY. just an unreal coming out for a young European prospect pre nba
- Luka. this guy basically had Ginobili's international resume at 18 (crazy). I think a slept-on performance is his hitting a game-winner to cap off a monster game vs his favorite (childhood) team in Red Star / Crvena Zvezda and their raucous fans. Euroleague controls their rights tightly so you'll have to do with YT highlights for this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_5Cw3Ki5As
Video request
- Ginobili is my favorite player possibly of all time. I'm familiar with his success with Argentina but less familiar with his mythical status at Bologna (and what he achieved there). What games are iconic>? School me as i was too young at the btime and would like to watch some of his legendary / career-defining EL performances

2023.06.05 03:32 PollyDarton_me A Basket is Now a Field Goal? Since When?

I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s playing basketball for many, many years on year round club teams, high school team, and almost played in college(swim team instead).
Since when did a basket become a field goal? I do not remember using that term or even hearing it used until watching the NBA finals this year.

One Minute Reviews
Farlight 84
Shining Light For Mobile
Score 10/10
Did I enjoy it? Yes! Much more than I expected too.
Would I come back to it? Absolutely, I really want to hit top 300 on the server. This is partially the reason that I logged in way more hours than I typically do on my F2P titles. It is great.
Personal Playtime: ~15 hours
Yes, you read that right. I logged 15 hours into this F2P game and can easily see myself logging in for many more. It is a battle royale title that hits all of the notes that it is going for. Whether that be the movement that requires you to have a jetpack that can be used intermittently or vehicles that allow you to traverse the field both in an offensive and defensive manner, More than anything else. There is little downtime. It allows you to get right back into the action if you ever do have a bad round. The characters are all, for the most part, balanced. That being said, the only downside that I had in terms of the characters is that it takes an insane amount of time to unlock them as a F2P player. I have 15 hours and only have 1/3 of the currency needed to unlock it. I will say that there are few games that have kept my attention for as long as this did. If you enjoy battle royale games, I expect that you have already downloaded this. If you are completely new to the genre, I could not expect a better game on the market. This comes as a clear recommendation, especially since Apex Legends Mobile was discontinued.
TLDR: I logged 15 hours into this F2P battle royale game and can see myself playing more. The gameplay features jetpack movement and vehicles, ensuring little downtime and quick re-entry into action. Characters are mostly balanced, but unlocking them as a F2P player takes a long time. It kept my attention longer than most games. If you enjoy battle royale, it's a clear recommendation, especially with Apex Legends Mobile discontinued. The ranking system is something that is sure to keep players hooked.

Dig Odyssey: Comic Mining
Not Many Diamonds In The Rough
Score 5.5/10
Did I enjoy it? Initially yes. It has a nice design that makes you want to enjoy it. It wore on me especially at the very end. If you know, you know.
Would I come back to it? No, there is no long term progression, and the end game grind is brutal considering that ads play after every run (these runs last only ~1 minute).
Personal Playtime: ~2 hours
This game is not bad in terms of design, mechanics, and gameplay. It's your standard fare of a mining game experience, with some great design choices that made me give it a look in the first place. You will be mining, gathering resources, and upgrading gear to make your future runs better (the standard things). However, what you will find is that the game in its current state is very rough around the edges. With some inexplicable design choices- ads playing after every run, one item that is completely useless until the end game, at which point it becomes a requirement, and an additional unnecessary grind to truly complete the game- keeps it from being an easy recommendation to relax for an hour or so. I currently cannot in good faith recommend it in its current state.
TLDR: This game has decent design, mechanics, and gameplay. It's a typical mining game with some interesting choices that caught my attention. You mine, gather resources, and upgrade gear for better runs. However, it's rough around the edges with odd design choices like frequent ads, a useless item until the end game, and an unnecessary grind. It's not an easy recommendation for a relaxing gaming session. I can't recommend it in its current state.

Alchemy Dungeon
A Wonderful Mix
Score 8/10
Did I enjoy it? Yes, I havent played too many games recently in this style and it was a refreshing take on the genre.
Would I come back to it? Yes, I am someone who likes to unlock everything and even with my playtime I still have quite a few more things to unlock.
Personal Playtime: ~3 hours
This game is a different take on the merging genre in that your score is tied not to how many rounds you make it or how many enemies you defeat but, rather, the number of coins you collect/utilize. Considering you can merge coins to enemies and then kill said enemies for coins there is a surprising amount of depth to how the game works. It takes a bit of getting used to understanding how the tiles lock and how certain items interact with said tiles. However, the more you play the more you understand and use that knowledge on later runs. I cannot even begin to imagine playing it ideally with the number of possible combinations that are available to you. I’m just going to continue grinding in my ignorance. There are some UI things I would have like such as seeing how close I am to unlocking my next world in my current run (I ended one prematurely because I thought I got the unlock only to realize that it was for a character because I was not paying complete attention). I think that its amount of unlockables may stop people from making it a long term score chaser game, but these are minor issues. I would suggest you join me in this unique experience if you haven't already.
TLDR: This game offers a unique twist on the merging genre, where your score is based on the number of coins you collect and use. Merging coins with enemies adds depth to the gameplay. Understanding tile locking and item interactions takes time but enhances later runs. The game's potential combinations are vast. Some UI improvements would be helpful, like tracking progress towards unlocking new worlds. The game's abundance of unlockables may deter long-term score chasers, but these are minor issues. Join me in this unique and engaging experience if you haven't already.

NFL Rivals- Football Game
Its No Good
Score 5/10
Did I enjoy it? Yes, at least in the beginning but the novelty quickly wears off.
Would I come back to it? No, the grind to create a really good team is going to be absurd and will become highly pay to win in the end.
Personal Playtime: ~4 hours
This game has a lot of things going for it, playing more akin to NFL Blitz than your typical Madden clone, an interesting pass system (though not much in the run game department), and the license to use NFL players names in the game. Unfortunately, it squanders it in the pay to win focus that has come to plague most of the sports simulators on the market. The gameplay is okay in that the passing is unique because you throw the ball in “real time”. Unfortunately, nothing else in the game has the same level of polish. The run game, though insanely strong, never felt like you could get a good long run off because of the way the stamina system works. You will not be controlling the defense side of the ball (my favorite part of football), you cannot run out of the pocket in the traditional sense because your qb always is in passing mode, you only get access to 3 plays at a time seemingly at random, and there is a really weird interaction with diving for the end zone where you get i-frames for some unknown reason meaning that you only have to make it to the 5 yard line instead of the end zone because you can dive and guarantee at touchdown even as you are hit. Running a regular season is lackluster because you don't keep stats outside of the record for the regular season. Lastly, there is a heavy focus on competing against other teams, which brings the P2W component of the game full circle.
TLDR: This game offers a unique gameplay experience resembling NFL Blitz, with an interesting pass system and licensed NFL player names. However, it falls short due to a pay-to-win focus. The passing mechanics are decent, but other aspects lack polish. The stamina system hinders long runs, controlling the defense isn't possible, and the interaction with diving for the end zone is strange. The regular season lacks stat tracking, and the heavy emphasis on competing against other teams brings pay-to-win elements to the forefront.

2023.06.05 03:03 EternalNM What ranked should’ve been.

I thought the point of ranked is to rank players based on how good they are at the game, not how good they can hide/stay alive. Obviously it's a mix between placement and kills, and personally I don't think they should've introduced LP into the mix.
They should've kept increasing entry costs as you rank up, and players get the majority of their RP from placement, and kills should've been more static, not being worth more the higher you place. This would've helped stop the pred, "kill race". If you kill someone a rank below you, less RP per kill; same rank = base RP; rank above you = more RP. The kills just aren't at their full value until after at least 10th place to prevent overaggressive ignorant hot drop and quits.
Also, I've always felt the pred upper limits of RP wasn't properly balanced. The minimum to become a pred was 15,000 RP. There should be NO ONE with more than 40,000 RP. At that point your entry cost should be so high that you'd be needing to win top 2-3 with 10+ kills of players at your rank to barely break even or add RP.
Lastly, IMO diamonds shouln't have been playing with preds, ever. Either find a way to balance the system so that there are enough masters to play with preds, or introduce a grand master rank, between master and pred, to increase the pool of top tier players.

2023.06.05 02:41 External_Cobbler3736 [Title] Please recommend me some titles based on my library

[Title] Please recommend me some titles based on my library
I used to read a lot of manhwa. Getting back into it lately. One thats not shown here is Peerless Dad. And some others I will be adding slowly are:
  • Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect The Dungeon
  • Spirit Farmer
  • Low Ranking Soldier Becomes A Monarch
  • How To Become A Dragon
  • Aisopos
  • Asura (Venom Dragon?? Something like that)
  • The Witch & The Bull
  • A cooking one where the MC lost his sense of taste, and tries to find it again playing a game???
  • The S Classes That I Raised
  • Others as I remember them lol
Some I might read again and might not are:
  • Overgeared
  • Noblesse
  • Jungle Juice
  • Solo Leveling
  • Legendary Moonlight Sculptor
  • Hardcore Leveling Warrior
  • The Strongest Florist - I'm a gardener so I really liked this series at first but it slowly became kinda bad :(
  • Taming Master
  • Bow Blade Spirit
  • Lightning Degree
Trying to avoid harem &/or overly sexualized stories where possible.
Also moving away from Modern Life/High School settings (e.g Lookism, How To Fight, Windbreaker, Weak Hero etc).
Bit of a sucker for reincarnation/isekai stories so don't mind a bit of Modern Life setting if it has a bunch of other Fantasy stuff going on.
My favorite genres are Fantasy, Murim, Dungeon/Tower, Slice Of Life & Games. I like funny stuff too!
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any recommendations :)

2023.06.05 02:16 idontlikeredditbutok Set 9 PBE Comps Guide (by WizardTFT)

Set 9 PBE Comps Guide (by WizardTFT)
Hi eveyrone, my name is Wizard. I've been a high elo tft player since set 6.5, generally hovering around the 700-1k lp range. I've participated in the Set 7 Jade Cup and the recent Mecha cup, and although I'm not the best player in NA by any stretch of the imagination, i've been playing a good amount of pbe and have what I think is a good read on the meta, so I decided to take a crack on a comps guide/list to show players the basics if they are getting lost trying to figure out the new set. This will cover most of the relatively standard/basic comps that you will encounter game to game, so if i miss a comp here its because it's not consistently played, or in some cases i just simply don't have enough info to give a good read on how to play it. Without further adieu, let's start:

FRELJORD APHELIOS

https://preview.redd.it/pl2lecwtt24b1.png?width=1010&format=png&auto=webp&s=8d3d4454edeaa6bc7137422fb7d49d43723f84a7
Core is this board plus guinsoos on Aphelios. Last two units are open slots, can be whatever you need/hit. 4 Deadeye is fine but not required, you can even just run 3 deadeye and duo urgot with one other good unit like sion or ahri or something. 4 Freljord goes REALLY hard here. Tank items on Sej/Shen, whichever you can hit first generally, although i think sejuani use them a bit better if you have to pick because her ability scales with being alive the most. You want actual tank items in this comp, items like spark or sunfire don't really do anything, you can just put morello on lissandra for anti heal.

AZIR FLEX

https://preview.redd.it/c8i99y9av24b1.png?width=1013&format=png&auto=webp&s=d20dc162f6fcd20e022c54e5a7000cac25d43511
Azir is in my opinion the most flexible and dizzying carry to play around this set, and frankly can be a good end game even with none of his traits activated! If i were to list all of the potential azir variants i'd be writing a picture book, but if you want to look for the most "mid-roll, nothing special, no plus 1, no items, final destination only" azir core, the closest i can think of is this. Your shurima plus 1 can be way too many units depending on what you hit/ what is on your board currently, though i think unless you hit ksante/nasus 2 with items you never want to try for 5 shurima (and even then i think it's a bait in most games). Guinsoos is almost required on azir, although unlike aphelios who i think just straight up requires the item, azir can get away with not having it as much, especially if you have zekes and kewkone, which is ABSURDLY good in this comp because of how well azir uses both stats. Tank items go on jarvan generally, although really your frontline is what you hit.

7 SHURIMA AZIR

https://preview.redd.it/938m5bdnc34b1.png?width=987&format=png&auto=webp&s=054247e2856343708b0228956114316704725181
Not really playable without plus 1, very strong with. Can shurima spat aatrox or jarvan. You want to prio0 good items for Nasus more than normal in this version because he is actually your main secondary carry. Blue buff is really op on ksante, you want to focus on positioning him to kick the target you want before every round. Unsure how good 9 Shurima is, probably worth if you can hit.

SHADOW ISLES SLAYERS GWEN

https://preview.redd.it/14xlb9whx24b1.png?width=1018&format=png&auto=webp&s=6869ace5a4e93eccf0328ab2d78da2ccd068500a
Gwen is also actually pretty flexible like azir, and can even be used as a secondary carry with no traits (although she very much appreciates shadow isles being active). Again, the amount of variants here would make a picture book but this is i think the most "standard" level 8 you want to go for. Slayer plus 1 is VERY good and realistically, you want to play as many slayers as you can without griefing your frontline, as the jump from 3 to 4 is very good (in this variant im playing 3 for now but honestly you could easily argue to drop any number of units for 4 slayer, or another carry if you have items for them, as long as your frontltine is still decent). Gwen items are pretty flexible, though i think titans is her best stand-alone item. Generally i go for titans healing plus 1, but you can go for a lot of mixture of ap bruiser itemization, including qss, spark, or even warmogs if you have another source of damage (Shadow Isles hp shield scales off of max hp!). Spark Guardbreaker gunblade is another really good build i for a decent amount. Can cap with full 5 cost board quite easily, and in fact the main strategy i think you should employ is to abuse the mid game spike of vertical slayer to go 9 and play legendaries. This board above is just a good level 8 end if you can't get there.

VOID KAISA

https://preview.redd.it/0qiqfqsyz24b1.png?width=1010&format=png&auto=webp&s=c111f70651cb7c3e5a312a81782905ed34958a6c
Caps pretty low unless you get void plus 1, so ideally without 8 void you use this to go 9 and play legendaries rather than end this. 8 void is 100% a correct end unless you can hit basically every 2 star 5 cost in the game (the baron hurts man). Kaisa items can be almost anything frankly, this is just my personal faviorite build. Guinsoos is pretty mediocre on her, don't get baited into thinking you need it. I personally like playing for the old school "i win the fight off of second cast" kaisa build. THIS BOARD IS SO UNBELIEVABLY BROKEN WITH ALL NATURAL, HONESTLY MIGHT BE A HARDFORCE SEND IT AT 7 TO HIT ANGLE.

DEMACIA LUX

(NOTE: This is made with the assumption that Kayle 2 will not be a 4.5 cost going into live)
Lux is also actually surprisingly flexible, and i've even sometimes just used her as a secondary carry with no traits when i've had random ap items and i can randomly fit in Demacia, she does a surprising amount of damage just flying solo. This is on average the core though, can play a bunch of different things in the other slots. Can also drop 4 demacia for better units if you can, although i think the radiant item on lux and jarven is generally very worth it. Lux items honestly don't matter (though i really like the utility of gunblade healing your frontline), just throw good items on her and it's probably fine, i actually would prioritize good tank items for jarven so the dude can just chain cast and end the enemy backlines whole career. Kewkone and zekes is also decent in this comp though it can be awkward with positioning, and lux does not use the zekes as well (although sona does, so there are some instances where you can actually just primary carry azir and use lux as a kewkone bot with a radiant item and just use demacia as a frontline for him). 9 DEMACIA IS VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD, UNLESS RIOT SUPER BUTCHERS THIS IM VERY SURE ITS A THING YOU ALWAYS GO FOR IF YOU CAN. Demacia spat is super valuable regardless just because you get to have a radiant item and big stats on a strong primary carry you have items for.

4-6 CHALLENGER YASUO/KAISA

https://preview.redd.it/ybr630sm334b1.png?width=1015&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a1d09f42387fbb2e2ddfb1507dff368930d3675
Can play 6 challenger for tempo, though unless you have plus 1 i wouldnt stick with it very long past level 7 unless you can go fast 9. With plus 1 6 challenger is VERY good unless you cap with legendaries, especially if you are going yasuo primary. Can play 6 ionia with plus 1, but ONLY with plus 1 including ahri, preferably ionia spat kaisa (even then its not that great and you should ditch it pretty fast at 9, maybe will change when live hits). Yasuo REALLY needs at least one of both DB/IE and QSS/EON to be a viable primary carry. Last item can be a ton of things, damage, healing, defensive etc. Tank items on shen. Don't be afraid to play a random soraka on this board, targon kind of goes hard, i've even had games where i just end 3 targon and it's correct, your yasuo can go infinite. Can drop irelia and ww for better units when you can (although yasuo likes 4 challenger a lot in my opinion, so be careful when you do so if you are carrying him).

PILTOVER ZERI

https://preview.redd.it/n0t7n7j9534b1.png?width=987&format=png&auto=webp&s=1b2a8b24a0657abce24e4394617ac0bba8ecf5e4
For when you hit early piltover. Tank items on sejuani, zekes goes hard here. Zeri REALLY wants guinsoos and ie, but her last item can be a lot of things. Don't NEED to go 4 gunner but it is very good if you can fit it, especially if the zaun mod is good. If its bad dont be afraid to go 3/4 gunner and play a good fronltine units, or if you hit sion, you can actually just play sion/sej/ekko fronltine, ekko actually uses the non backline chem mods quite well. 6 Piltover is a giga first. DO NOT SELL THE T-HEX UNLESS YOU ARE GOING FOR THE TUBER LEVELS OF RICH, THAT DINOSAUR IS KINDA GOOD AND THE WHOLE GOAL OF THIS BOARD IS TO MAKE YOUR DINO GIGA HUGE. The dark tech is going for triple self repair upgrades on heimer, that turret is infinite frontline.

When you dont hit early piltover. Can drop jinx/ekko for senna and a better unit later if the chem mods aren't good enough, but don't be afraid to keep them with good chem mods until level 9. Board is insanely stable on 8 as it's own, going for urgot 3 instead of going 9 can be pretty worth with a good chem mod for him, as generally he won't be very contested. I think doing that on average is better than leveling for ryze 2 unless you also can easily drop jinx/ekko. Duo carry urgot is a goal late game game, tanks on sej, or sion 2/yolo ekko 3 with good chem mod.

Yordles

There's honestly too many variants of this comp to talk about all of them extensively, but the two most critical aspects of this comp are:
1.Poppy 4 is the most important unit in the comp
  1. Getting heimer is your primary win con.
Hitting maokai 3 can be a very consistent way to get poppy 4 for achieving your goals of 3 3 stars. I've seen some players swear by kled 3 instead of poppy 3, but i feel like that is a high roll scenario, though i'm not that much of a yordles expert so someone here maybe can correct me if I'm wrong.

Viego Reroll

In my opinion a very good comp to open fort and hard force when you have a bad opener. Doesnt need any op augments, doesnt need any specific item combos, doesnt really need any 3 stars other than viego (although maokai can be nice if you hit). Especially if the exp changes stay on live, going w/l is super punishing early game, so if you feel like your opener isnt going to generate a streak, its often better to look for boards like this to play rather than hope your econ won't get griefed for little gain. Can cap with gwen 2 items, and/or can roll at 7 for 3 star rogues if possible. 6 Shadow Isles is VERY STRONG, you want to play that as much as possible.

JHIN REROLL

Another forceable reroll comp i think is good to play from a bad opener. Can cap with aphelios 2/yasuo 2/ or ahri 2 items although i think aphelios is the best secondary carry if you can get a guinsoos on him. Guinsoos is actually also good on jhin, though i dont think its a requirement by any means. Ie is arguably better than DB in Jhin, not sure if it's solved yet. I've seen some players go Guinsoo BT IE jhin and pop off, I'm pretty sure his items are surprisingly flexible.

INVOKERS

Can go Soraka/Galio 3 Variant or Karma3/Shen 2 Variant, not sure which one is stronger although i think the Karma/Shen version is more consistent. If going galio 3 version can replace sejuani for taric if you dont have shiv or spark. If going Soraka variant im like 99.9% sure you need archangels or it sucks.

COMPS THAT I KNOW ARE AT LEAST DECENT BUT DONT HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE WITH/INFORMATION TO MAKE A GUIDE ON THEM
Samira Reroll is definately viable, i've seen it work quite a few times, i think you really need blue buff/ie though.
Non viego rogue reroll is super first or eighth from what i've seen, you either hit your 3 stars, get great items, great augments and hit a giga first, or you don't and you are dead at stage 4. I don't think i've ever seen this comp just mid roll into a 4th, but i could be wrong, maybe someone figures out a way to make it consistent. Jugg emblem on kat is good, although i think she also really wants raw ap/burst as well. Players with zed 3 items seem to do well, think that might be the most consistent variant than kat but don't quote me on that.
There is a kayle/yordles comp that is good but I don't know what Riot is going to do to kayle pre live so I'd hold me thoughts for then before commenting on it.
Swain is REALLY op with his augment "Demonflare", but I'm not sure he's playable without it.
I've seen 6 Juggernaut nasus primary carry work well before, pretty sure it's a tech, but not remotely enough info to comment on obviously.

POTENTIAL DARK TECHS
I've seen some taliyah reroll comps just randomly be utterly broken. I'm pretty sure this unit is hidden op. Similar with Sona 3 carry boards, though it's a bit less on the "dark" end.
Darius 3 carry is actually not that bad, but you do have to high roll ungodly hard for it to be good. If/when riot buffs Noxus it might be a thing to look out for.
Garen carry i think is actually good, it's just hard to play for when there are like 2-3 kayle 2 vertical demacia forcers every game, plus maybe a regular lux player.

That's about all i have! Obviously this doesnt cover everything, or even every comp hopefully it's a useful starter guide to entering pbe for those who are out of the loop. Lets me know what you think of this, this is my first attempt at making something similar, so feedback would be very appreciated.
