I just finished the TOG series (loved it so much and am empty now), but there are a few things that have stuck with me...
1) Why didn't we get any closure on Aelin's water magic from Mab? She taps into it briefly in KOA and Rowan alludes to her "continuing her training so she can actually do something useful with it".. I thought after forging the lock she would rely on her water magic to help stop Maeve, but feel like it wasn't mentioned again after that. It seems to me this means the series can't really be over if she still has this other side of her magic to explore? (I know SJM confirmed the series might not actually be over, but i need a full plot line around this magic!!)
2) What about Elide's magic/powers?? Multiple times it's mentioned that she has witch blood, that her uncle bound her ankle in iron specifically to impede her using any magic, and Manon claims her as a witch, which is critical in Elide's empowerment to escape from Morath. When Elide arrives at Terrasen and unites with Manon and the crochan/ironteeth alliance i thought there would be some awakening of Elide's power or at least allusion to them being her people.. but it seems like her witch heritage was completely forgotten.
3)I 10000% think Dorian + Lysandra/ Aedion + Manon make more sense as pairings. As king it's expected Dorian would find a queen eventually, and there's a poetry in a queen who began her life impoverished on the streets of Adarlan as a symbol of the new world they're building. They also share similar struggles - dealing with the implications of this powerful magic that has made them outsiders in their communities, wearing many "faces" (both figuratively then literally as dorian gets his shapeshifting magic) based on the setting in order to survive, and ultimately both evolving from bystanders in bad systems in Adarlan to actively fighting for a new world (I know Dorian is much more of an enabler and Lysandra is much more of a victim, but I think the death of her lover really transformed Lysandra from someone who would endure arobynn and the life he forced on her to someone who would take arobynn down). Also, both Lysandra and Dorian had first loves who were murdered, and it would be really lovely for them to find each other on the other side of that heart break. On the other hand, Aedion and Manon are both lethal weapons who are struggling to find the good in themselves after the things they've done on the battlefield. Neither has had a true romantic love before but both are evolving in their capacity to hold that romantic connection and can grow in that together. I feel like SJM pumped UP the temperature of Dorian's badboy flirtiness to match Manon's level in the last two books, giving him way more swagger than he had before (he came across as a super nice if not a little simple in the first books), but Aedion already had that bad boy flirty energy!!! Yet he suddenly felt super muted/not like the same character through all of KOA bc SJM pumped all that personality into Dorian!!! Since Aedion's life's purpose is to serve Aelin, he also wouldn't need to marry in the traditional sense and can offer Manon the freedom she needs. I loved Dorian and Manon's story line but i really do think it only made sense bc SJM wrote Dorian like he was Aedion, meanwhile i've seen many people say Lysandra and Aedion's chemistry fell flat and i have to agree.
4) I freaking love SJM, I love acotar and i love TOG even more, but I am so over the "unite the three parts of obscure magical object" thing (wyrdstones, cauldron) and the "big bad horrible evil king/queen that is completely unstoppable and so evil (erawan/king of hybern) until a convenient magic rule is made up just in time to save the day" thing. I know it's so hard to avoid this in fantasy, and i think it's better done in TOG because it has a slower build, but the wyrd portal bringing in the lost fae of terrasen who hadn't been mentioned much just seemed to deflate the excitement of the epic battle. Why wouldn't aelin have brought in those extra warriors earlier when so many, including Gavriel, were literally dying and it seemed hopeless? It would have been cooler if aelin ultimately was able to rely on her assassin training to out maneuver Maeve even without her powers. Or if aelin used the old books from the torre to unlock an old wyrdmark message from Nehemia, using the portal to bring in a hidden army from Eyllwe or Nehemia from the afterlife to take down maeve, something that connected more to the core plot and players vs. bringing in new elements.
5) What's up with SJM's obsession with couples binding their lives together??? Chaol and Yrene with her healing magic, Rowan and Aelin (i don't think formally with magic but he says multiple times when she goes he'll go), Lorcan giving up his immortality for Elide, Rhys and Feyre binding their lives with an oath in acotar... between Lorcan and Elide i get there's the fae/human dynamic, but the rest of the pairings are expected to have the same lifespan! I can see how it's a somewhat romantic notion, but it just seems creepy/over the top/unneccesarily dramatic and weird death pact vibes and i don't understand why she does this over and overrrr again

Boa tarde então e o seguinte hoje fui a minha caixa de correio e ao qual me deparo com uma cartinha do ministério da administração interna ao qual achei logo estranho, nos meus 7 anos de carta NUNCA tive uma infração nem de estacionamento, na carta vinha a foto do meu celica flashado por um radar multanova muvr-6fd (pelo que vi no google radar tem tripé logo deve ser móvel e penso que nao estava sinalizado)no dia 01 de fevereiro de 2023 pelas 09 horas e 29 minutos, a 76 kmh numa zona de 50 kmh para quem conhece sabe que a estrada e a descer e ninguém ali passa a 50 mas pronto foi na avenida comunidade europeia em Leiria as fotos sao a preto e branco e a matricula mal se ve mas consegue se perceber, a minha questao e porque raio o fdp do agente estava ali escondido a tentar lixar um gajo que entra as 09:45 ao serviço e sai de Ourém todos os dias ,faço praticamente 65km ida e volta pela n113 trânsito e uma festa. epa isto revolta me profundamente mas com fotos pouco posso fazer, dado que ja paguei a coima de 120 paus ouch posso ficar inibido de conduzir? Se sim o que tenho de fazer ? Edit 2 : entretanto fui ver novamente ao portal da ANSR e de facto dos 15 pontos que tinha estou com 12 ou seja levei uma dedução de 3 pontos por ter circulado entre 20 a 40 kmh acima do limite numa zona de marcação obrigatória se ate agora só for esta que espero que sim e andar a cautela obrigado a todos pelas respostas e info.

Boa tarde, a familia da minha namorada tem um contabilista que lhes trata das cosias todas do IRS e este ano tamb]em tratou do meu. Entretanto todos receberam o seu IRS e eu ainda nada. Hoje por sugestao que li por aqui fui ver no portal das financas e estava la um aviso a dizer que o IBAN tinha de ser atualizado por isso nao processaram o IRS.

Agora pergunto, já atualizei o IBAN será preciso fazer mais alguma coisa? tenho de voltar a preencher o formulario? no "consultar declaração" aparece como liquidação processada e depois se for na alteração do IBAN está lá como "IBAN por confirmar" e por fim na página principal ainda consta o aviso "reembolso suspenso por falta de IBAN"

Due to me living in SA I can only play the 2 more popular game modes (Conquest and Breakthrough) and even with crossplay on my queue times are really long. On the other hand I see that in other regions like NA the games are much faster to find and there are many lobbies in the game for other modes. So there's a way that I can somehow change my region? or I'm fucked bc of DICE stupid decision? (Yes, I know that portal exists)

I'm undiagnosed, but I'll give a brief rundown of my background. Dad was abusive and neglectful, invalidated my feelings verbally by saying "your feelings are wrong" the sole time I expressed my emotions to him about his lack of presence in my life, he normalized and regularly sa'd me as a child up until after puberty, was very jealous of any bfs I had, lots of emotional incest, attempted to prevent me from going to college, delayed me from getting my driver's license til 20 and having a baby at 19 and escaping my subsequently abusive baby daddy was the only saving grace for me. I'm 31 now.
I've been through so much. I believe I'm hypersexual as well and I've always had issues in romantic relationships. Being a single parent doesn't exactly make dating easy and I'm not anyone's ideal partner due to that fact. I fall in love easily and care deeply, but I've been rejected so many times as an adult and every time it feels as fresh as the rejection and neglect I faced constantly as a child.
I sought therapy and attended at least 10 sessions for my last break up and then the therapist ghosted me bc I couldn't quite grasp the patient portal and how to send a message. When I finally sent her a message to set an appointment after figuring it out, she never responded to me. I'm not interested in looking into finding another therapist now. I tried Zoloft and had a genuinely horrific experience. I'm about to try Lexapro and I hope it works.
I'm going through another loss of a romantic partner and again, the wounds have been ripped back open. I genuinely want to learn better coping mechanisms than laying around all day feeling sorry for myself but this is a repetitive theme in my life and I don't know what to do anymore. I feel as if no one will ever love me properly or as fully as I would someone else. I just cry every day wishing I even had friends to turn to but I am so incredibly lonely.
How does everyone else deal with rejection? I want to feel good about myself but it's so difficult when I see people all around me with lifelong partners and I've already brought three different men to my family's yearly reunion. I know the trauma is what's wrong with me, but I don't know how to manage it and I feel helpless all the time.

Just as an observation as an oldtimer that been at BF since BC 1, and only playing the Portal against Bots (my hand eye ain't very good, and in short, you youngsters will kick my a**), i'm seeing the game and it's mechanics atp, on the good side of things.
The Portal did save me on this game, but the movement, the gun physics, the graphics all pretty much seem in tact all around.
Is it necessary for DICE to reinvent the wheel on a new game, and go thru this launch maelstrom, yet again?
Or better yet, keep what you have, new maps, a total new narrative and characters (i think the characters are silly) and just come out as they are with a new campaign that can set the setting for a new game?

I really got into period dramas when I started reading Frock Flicks, and they have spoiled me to many shows with wildly inaccurate costumes. I still have many guilty pleasures (The White Queen and Ever After!), but I love effort put into beautiful, relatively accurate history. I will note that I am not a costumer or other expert, so my taste and knowledge is relatively amateur.
I put together a timeline of some of my favorite historical pieces, with satisfying (to me) costumes. They span from the turn of the millennia to the 1990s, and from the 1400s on, I tried to include something at least every 50 years or so (and then every decade from the 1800s). The dates are a bit approximate and according to what I could easily find on the interwebs. There are also some time periods where I have tons of favorites (1890s-1920s especially), but tried to streamline. Slashes mean I couldn't choose and included two.
I really do wish we had some better Medieval costumes to choose from, especially the 14th and 15th centuries! Fingers crossed that someday someone will make a beautiful adaptation of Katherine by Anya Seton.

Hi again, so problem I’m making this game and the live system is an respawn Anchor. But when the players die in the OW I send an item that is being tested to replace the full respawn anchor after the whole thing. Only people is sometimes the items dosent work. So do I need to add the OW portal to a ticking area. I didn’t think so bc portals load when something goes through it

I am feeling hopeless at the moment and I was hoping to get some opinions or advice on how to further approach this situation.
I graduated from Ryerson with a BComm degree (Marketing Management and Global Management Studies Majors, with a minor in Psychology) In May of 2022. Having completed half of my degree online throughout the pandemic, there weren’t many opportunities for co-op placements or internships during that time. I was working part time during my time at University but left that position around the time that I was finishing up with school. Now that I’ve graduated, I am having a difficult time finding any kind of employment related to my degree, or any that pays above minimum wage (I'm currently working in a warehouse).
10 months since starting my job search, over 800 applications, over 75 cover letters, and many, many iterations of a these later, the only types of interviews I’m getting are ones for door-to-door sales jobs (you know, the ones that don’t require a university degree, hours ranging from 10am-8pm, purely based off of commission pay). I apply mainly through indeed/glassdoor, but I have even utilized services such as Randstand, Robert Half, JobBank.ca, Altis HR, and a lot of company portals. I have applied to a variety of positions ranging from data entry, marketing, administration, customer service, and almost anything that could be related to a business degree, I have applied to internships to no avail either. I have even applied to positions outside of the province of Ontario such as in Alberta and BC.
I understand that this could be as a result of the economic turmoil this country is experiencing, but I can’t imagine that’s the only reason when I am essentially lacking in any kind of experience as it relates to corporate work (my previous job that I held for almost 5 years did have some aspects of administration, inventory management, and leadership aspects but these don’t seem to help me much). I fully realise that my resume could be lacking but the fact that I’m getting nowhere is a little disheartening. Most positions require experience and getting that without a job or an internship is literally impossible. I can’t even get a response for a position that states it’s and Entry Level Job. I have tried starting side hustles (more like the only hustles) without a lot of success, yet. I want an income, financial freedom, to help my family, to travel, etc. , but these goals seem so far away in my current position. I have gone to some locations to talk to managers and most of them ask that applications be sent over the internet. This has led me to the realization recently that not a lot of locations want a physical resume anymore.
The main point of my post is this:

• Is there something different that I should be doing when applying for jobs? I typically submit a resume tailored to the position I’m applying for, and at least 75% of the time submit a cover letter associated with it.
• What are some of the best certifications that I could get (preferably free/cheap ones) to help me get a job? How can I go about improving myself or developing skills to make me more attractive as a potential employee?
• Is there any proven method to guarantee a job placement?

Any advice that this community can provide will be greatly appreciated.

There's a bug with the residence waitlist where a lot of students are making it off the waitlist but not getting emails about it until their application gets cancelled (bc they take too long to pay the deposit, not knowing it's even an option). So I submitted my MCAT score in early May to AACOMAS. I sent to AACOMAS from the AAMC portal of where we get our MCAT scores. Then I put in my AMCAS ID into AACOMAS system.
Just to make sure: I did release my score right?
Bc when I download my separate application for each school, my MCAT is clearly there: shows my percentiles, the graphs, etc.

Boa tarde pessoal, meu segundo post hoje, mas esse vai ser para discorrer um assunto que o u/AKOPBr puxou no meu post anterior. No caso foi sobre se um desenvolvedor web deve ter aptidão tanto com back-end e front-end. Naquele post eu respondi que não, por conta da realidade que vivencio no momento na empresa em que trabalho, mas na verdade a resposta é SIM e NÃO ao mesmo tempo. Vamos lá.
Hoje o que é ser um desenvolvedor back-end? Em termos leigos é saber desenvolver recursos que serão disponibilizado em uma aplicação web aonde receberá dados (request), por meio de uma API, processar esses dados (validar, tratar, armazenar) a partir do serviço que foi solicitado e por ultimo devolver uma informação relevante condizente com aquele serviço (response). Se vai ter algum evento disparado nesse processo, tanto faz. Agora um desenvolvedor front-end é aquele profissional que sabe capturar os eventos disparados pelo usuário, que saiba integrar com fontes externas de comunicação (API's) e consiga fornecer uma experiência decente para quem está utilizando aquela aplicação.
Com esse ponto de vista meu explicado, eu vou expor algumas situações da minha vida profissional. A primeira foi que, só consegui ser um profissional back-end melhor depois que eu aprendi trabalhar com o front-end, isso porque eu passei a entender formas melhores de entregar um resultado decente para aqueles que consumiam os serviços que eu criava. Eu trabalhava tanto para fornecer dados para um portal de usuário quanto para um App, mas cada um consumia de forma diferente o que produzia. Eu pensava que era besteira, precisava só entregar o JSON e pronto, mas não. Só fui entender depois que eu comecei a aprender Angular.
A segunda situação foi quando entrou no projeto um desenvolvedor Angular totalmente inexperiente e estava usando de "papinho" para jogar a culpa pra cima da equipe de back-end. Por eu ter conhecimento de front, resolvi "resolver" o problema dele da forma mais simples possível: sentei do lado dele e pedi para contar suas dores me mostrando o código. Resultado, em um dia resolvi o que ele chorava durante um mês, e nem toquei no código, desenvolvimento em par.
Ai vocês me perguntam "Então precisa? É isso que você tá me falando?". Precisa se você quiser evitar esses tipos de situações, se você quiser entender todo o fluxo do seu trabalho. Mas não to dizendo que vocês precisam aprender todos os tipos de linguagens e plataformas para front-end, precisa conhecer alguma só para entender o fluxo para saber entregar melhor.
Agora justificando a minha resposta anterior como não. Simples, na empresa que estou agora, tirando a situação ai do desenvolvedor front que estava colocando dificuldades, eu precisei tocar no código fonte já faz alguns anos, quando o antigo desenvolvedor saiu e eu me voluntariei para auxiliar na entrega do projeto, fora isso, nunca mais vi front-end se não fosse em projeto pessoal meu, por haver uma certa divisão entre os desenvolvedores e o que cada um faz (um time back-end, uma equipe front-end Angular e uma equipe Mobile, fora devops, banco, etc.).
E é isso pessoal, não sei se você mais algum post hoje, acho dois já suficiente, mas ainda quero discorrer sobre alguns assuntos espinhosos.

Looking for a Bill.com type functionality for our BC environment. The wrench in the system is that we have US, UK, and France locations with local banks. Bill.com doesn't function outside the US.
Continia has been suggested by many... will it work with US, UK, and French banks for the payment side? or just work for the AP side and something else will provide the payment side?
The document capture OCR is important, but so would be a single portal login to administer all payments (instead of logging into three different banks, authenticators, other BS)...etc.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Issue- My apartments changed management companies, the prev company was awful and lost a ton of files and info they had such as copies of birth certificates and socials for occupants. This became an issue because despite providing when I initially rented my place, I can’t find my sons social OR BC. He just turned 18, so I was able to request his BC which I got a few weeks ago. His social I can now get but I read the form wrong and didn’t realize this until this week. I’m going Friday morning.
Also, old company never had me re-sign my lease so I didn’t bring it up. New company realized this and that is why they are beating down my door to sign. I’ve been getting notices which I honestly ignored as I have been frozen this kind of thing is one of my most difficult. I got a notice 12 days ago that I had 10 days to re-certify or I’d be given a vacate notice. Even typing this it’s hard to breathe ffs.
So, I need to email and say I apologize for taking so long. I have sincerely attempted to reach out and take care of this several times each resulting in panic attacks and meltdowns. I got it together and can get what I need and come in and sign. May I please do so on this coming Friday? Please don’t evict me. Thanks have a good day.
I keep writing and rewriting. Told them I have ADHD/ASD, (not to mention I am incredibly sick and have been for months which really has made this worse) but then deleted that, it’s honest but I feel dumb saying that. I know I look like a jerk to them. Little do they know I wanted to do this when first asked I just didn’t know how and now I’m panicking and just going to go cry. I have my tax records and tons of other documents but they wouldn’t accept.
Any help wording the email would be really appreciated. I sent one message through the portal asking to come in Friday that’s all it said. I’m 100% positive I’ll be asked why or told I need to come in today but I can’t go to social security until Friday morning, and they will not accept me certifying without the social or proof it’s coming.
Going to go cry now.

Então pessoal, tenho 24 anos eu estou no 3° semestre da graduação para ciências da computação, trabalho numa empresa regional no setor de comércio, de Varejo e Atacado, eu sou responsável por manter funcionando 19 caixa pdv, 22 computadores erp, supervisionar empresas prestadoras de Serviços, comprar materias de informática conforme a necessidade da empresa, fazer o treinamento de novos colaboradores, faço gerenciamento da rede, instalo os pdvs que roda em uma distribuição linux, faço lançamento de notas fiscais, emito notas fiscais, cadastro de produtos e outras coisas voltadas para o sistema em si. E por ser nesse setor de comércio todas essas coisas eu faço quase todos os dias, principalmente a parte de cadastro de produtos e lançamento de notas fiscais, além também de desenvolver projetos a parte para automarizar tarefas através da programação, estou também desenvolvendo um site em php e bootstrap uma espécie de portal para a empresa tudo isso sozinho, eu ganho R$ 2.170,00 estou muito cansado, fadigado, e acho que estou ganhando muito pouco para o serviço que estou fazendo e para os níveis de preocupação e responsabilidade porque até mesmo quando estou de folga ou nos domingos eu tenho que dar suporte caso aluma coisa aconteça, estou buscando outras alternativas porque eu não estou tendo retorno financeiro estou sentindo minha saúde indo embora e eu nem ganho bem. Estou no mundo do Java mas Ainda não apliquei a nenhuma vaga para Dev porque ainda não me sinto pronto, minha esposa vai ter um bebê agora eu não posso sair do emprego, mas estou pensando seriamente em falar que recebi uma proposta de outra empresa para ver se consigo negociar algo melhor. Tem uma pessoa treinando comigo mas ainda não está boa, e não faz metade do que eu faço ainda, a empresa não me dar motivos para continuar com ela sinto que se eu continuar com ela vou ficar estagnado no tempo. E também não tem para onde crescer nessa empresa.
