so i just started the final season of oitnb! i have been hardcore binging for like 3 weeks.
anyway, i was super confused with the beginning of episode 1. i am like 20 minutes in but why do both piper and alex talk to the audience, like that hasn’t happened in any other season and it’s kinda uncomfortable for because it’s such a change lmao. does it stay like this until the end?

I think its because I've watched the actors so much on the pod cast that the first few scenes in episode 1 of season 16 just felt like I was watching the actors act instead of the characters (if that makes sense). It took a while to start seeing them as Charlie, Dennis and Mac instead of Charlie, Glenn and Rob. Did anyone else experience this?

Chef Gordon Ramsay said that now we were down to the final 8 that there would be no excuses and no one to hide behind anymore, saying that Santos left due to not being able to hold down the fish station by himself. Chef Ramsay also announced that the next challenge would involve a chef from each team making a crepe and Antonio was worried having not had that much experience with crepes but Nikki was pumped having made many crepes. The blue team were struggling at actually making crepes in the beginning with Antonio and Ed constantly breaking them with Giovanni having to guide them on making crepes but they eventually finished their crepes. First up was the battle of the breakfast crepes and despite Nikki’s confidence, Kanae’s bacon and eggs crepe beat Nikki’s smoked salmon crepe and Kanae said beating Nikki was huge as she usually killed it in challenges. Elizabeth and Giovanni were next up with the lunch crepes and both were praised and awarded a point by Ramsay, and the red team tied up when Van’s scallops and crab crepe beat Antonio’s pork crepe which didn’t work at all. Tara and Ed were last up with the desert crepe and Tara’s had completely fallen apart while Ed’s was far too sweet so Ramsay said that neither of them got a point! As the teams were tied, Ramsay said the best crepe would win the challenge and announced that Elizabeth’s was the nicest to win the challenge for the red team! Elizabeth said this was her best moment in Hells Kitchen ever and Giovanni was fed up of punishments with the blue team only winning 3 challenges all season.
While the red team partied, the blue team knew black jackets were coming up and Ed felt that the team were being too focused on themselves and was worried about service tonight. Ramsay excitedly announced that tonight was French night with a crepe appetiser and some different entrees as well as frogs legs for garnish. Giovanni on appetizers said nothing would be sent back on his station and his risottos and flatbreads came out perfect with Ramsay telling Giovanni it was his time to lead tonight. Antonio on the fish station did not get off to a good start however and served boiled scallops before bouncing back and Antonio said he couldn’t allow any mistakes for the rest of the service. Giovanni continued to have a great service on appetizers and had no issues with the crepes saying this Italian guy can make crepes and the blue team moved onto entrees. Kanae wanted to lead the team on the garnish station but despite Ed getting off to a strong start with perfect wellingtons and duck, Antonio served raw salmon and Ramsay said that Antonio was out of control and needed to get it together. Ed said he was going to drag the team through service but Ed then managed to serve raw fillets which further set the blue team back and Ed couldn’t believe his mistake. Kanae then started to get behind on garnish due to having to redo garnishes and burnt Brussel sprouts with Kanae screaming at Giovanni to not help her but to help Antonio as he was the one sinking the kitchen. Antonio was getting behind on the salmon orders and Giovanni came over to cook salmon for him but also brought it up raw as Antonio angrily took over at basing the salmon but when he took it out the oven, Antonio realised the skin had come off the salmon and asked for an extra 6 minutes. Chef Christina angrily told the blue team to get their shit together but the communication continued to break down as Antonio asked for 2 more minutes on Ed and when 2 minutes were done, Ed served overcooked fillet and Antonio’s turbot was raw and Ramsay finally had enough and kicked the whole blue team out! Ed said that service was a joke and Kanae said she felt bad for the salmon and turbot that died only be ruined by Antonio.
The red team wanted to get off to a stronger start but Elizabeth instantly had issues with the crepes despite having the best crepe on the challenge, ruining her first two. Van came over to help out and realised that Elizabeth’s hands were shaking so he took over the crepes while Elizabeth cooked risotto and flatbreads and Nikki’s first scallops came out well. Elizabeth got her confidence back to take over the crepes but Nikki brought up 2 orders of scallops rather than 3 and after being told by Ramsay to get it together she had her pans too hot and served burnt scallops for the ticket. Ramsay told Nikki to wake up and she did bounce back to get the next scallops out and the red team did finish appetizers. Van on garnish wanted his ladies to get it together for entrees and Ramsay praised Vans leadership which saw Tara’s first fillets and chicken fly out as well as Nikki’s turbot. Tara though started to struggle and cut into her wellingtons and realised they were raw and asked for an extra 3 minutes with Van telling Tara she needed to communicate better before Tara fought back. Despite Van’s best efforts the communication continued to break down as Tara got behind on chicken, saying she needed an extra 2 minutes but when Tara brought up her chicken it was RAW and Ramsay said he couldn’t deal with anymore mistakes from the red team. Nikki and Tara did try and communicate but Nikki continued to have problems cooking fish and brought up overcooked turbot to the pass and Tara then brought up duck with burnt skin. Ramsay was apoplectic at this point saying “THE DUCK’S BURNT” and with the dry turbot he kicked the red team out of the kitchen as well!
The blue team were spent after service and Antonio accepted he should go up but said he was going to fight for his place while saying Kanae should go up with him for overall performance. Kanae was quick to say that Ed had a worse service though and Giovanni agreed that Ed should go up for his mess on steaks but Ed said the blue team wouldn’t be completing service without him. The blue team realised they had to come to a consensus and Antonio finally agreed that Ed should go up with him. The red team were torn as well as everyone decided Tara was the 1st nominee for sinking the meat station but Nikki and Elizabeth voted each other which left Van with a tough decision. Tara was fuming saying that she was actually fighting back until Nikki and Elizabeth fell apart halfway through service but Elizabeth pointed out this was twice in a row on the meat station she had gone down and Van was left with a tough decision, eventually deciding that Elizabeth should go up with Tara for overall worse performance. Ramsay sent Elizabeth and Ed back in line before finally eliminating ANTONIO for his disaster on the fish station but told him to keep his head up. Ed was annoyed at being voted up for 1 bad service but said tomorrow is another day and Elizabeth felt that improving in service seems to mean nothing when people go on past services.
Next episode will have a double elimination as only 5 Chefs will make it into the black jacket lounge.

I think there's a lot for the team to be thinking about for the next season, but my main request (in the small off chance they see this post) is to tone down the music.
We all love 90s music: Nirvana, Radiohead, Garbage, Cranberries, Pumpkins, etc. And it can be very impactful to have a 90s banger over a poignant scene, but I feel it just happens way too much and becomes very intrusive.
My sense is that music is being used as a crutch to make a scene feel more emotionally deep, presumably because they're either not confident that the scene carries itself or because they've had to edit weirdly and the music smooths it out. But I find the over reliance on very famous songs to carry the emotion starts to grate after a while.
For instance, I rewatched the "oops we killed Javi" scene from the beginning of ep9 with some simple, sad music, and it felt a lot more emotional to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cranberries, but I found them blasting Zombie over the action pretty distracting. On top of that, this episode had Street Stpirit, a Metallica cover, a Buffy Sainte Marie song, and two (!) versions of Killing Moon, all of which made the music feel really intrusive.
I hope season 3 has more original music which is designed to fit the tone better, and maybe a limit of 1 or 2 90s bangers per episode.

Sensible transfers – Defensive midfield
Welcome to another edition of my ‘Sensible Transfers’ series, where I analyse what I believe to be realistic transfers (to varying degrees) for Luton Town FC ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season. In this post we discuss the defensive midfield position. with Nakamba’s loan finishing and him returning to Villa, there’s a huge void in front of the defence that needs filling. This list includes some ‘first-choice’ picks I believe are realistic, and some ‘wildcard’ picks that I think would be nice but are less realistic for one reason or another.
First-choice
I cannot stress how important it is that Luton sign Marvelous Nakamba permanently. His presence and ball-winning ability was pivotal to Luton’s rise from January onwards, providing the shield that the defence didn’t have under Nathan Jones. His wage demands might be a stumbling block, but he’s a known quantity at the club and thus worth the outlay. Bring him back!
I have been a fan of Ethan Ampadu since I saw him boss the midfield at the base of a diamond for Exeter at 16 years of age. Since a big money move to Chelsea, the versatile Ampadu has fallen victim to the loan merry-go-round that plagues Chelsea’s development team. This has allowed him to develop a pedigree playing in a number of different positions in different leagues. Given his utility in midfield and defence, either a loan or a permanent loan here could be win-win for all parties involved.
I know Hamza Choudhury didn’t pull up any trees for those lads down the road, but I’d imagine its hard to succeed in such a toxic atmosphere. He’s strong in the challenge, has Premier League experience, and is available on a free. He’s worth a punt as a rotation player in my opinion.
Daniel Neil was a key player in Sunderland’s rise into the playoffs this year. Capable of playing across the midfield, Neil was a product of Sunderland’s youth system. He chipped in with 2 goals and 4 assists this year, and could deputise for Nakamba with the potential to make the position his own in the long term. He would command a substantial fee however, having just signed a new deal in March.
Wildcards
Stefan Bajcetic is in this section as its unlikely Liverpool will loan him, but has shown enough talent in the limited time he’s been given for their first team this season that he should be under consideration. For a teenager he shows incredible poise on the ball and demonstrates an ability to dictate the tempo of a game. As Liverpool are rumoured to be signing up to 3 midfielders, he could be sent out on loan to gain more experience.
Another longshot is Tunisian anchor Ellyes Skhiri. I was impressed with Tunisia’s ability to defend at the world cup, with Skhiri key to their defensive shape. Domestically, he’s managed to chip in with 7 goals and 1 assist in the Bundesliga this season. As such, he’s likely to have a lot of suitors this year, especially as he’s out of contract.
Florian Grillitsch is set to leave Ajax on a free transfer after joining them for free last year. Ajax have not had a great season, and neither has Florian personally, only making 10 appearances in the Eredivisie. Before this, he was a solid Bundesliga defensive midfielder. A spell at Luton in the Premier League provides him with a big stage to revive his career.

In season 10, my duo and I hit GC for the first time. We were ecstatic. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the GC rewards, only getting 8/10 wins before dropping back down, despite a long grind in the final few days. Rather disappointed, we just told ourselves we'd get them next season. But now here we are, barely in champ.
Look, I understand what needed to be done. 2's has been skewed massively for quite a while now. But as a another redditor said in a thread, why do we have so many high ranks if so few people can reach them? GC1 was about top 1% in 2's. Now I don't know about you, but seems pretty damn convenient. Top 1% = GC. Reasonable enough no?
Regardless, I think a softer reset would've made it better. Maybe change these distributions over multiple seasons, not in one go. Or even better, bring other ranks up (looking at you extra modes), as well as 1's. Bringing other ranks up would've been a better solution imo.

Sean Darcy’s hamstring tear against Melbourne allowed Luke Jackson to take over against his old side while sparking a frenzy of speculation about the Dockers trading their No.1 ruckman.
As it happened, it also delayed a discussion that would have stopped that talk in its tracks.
Darcy had been set for talks with the Dockers and his management about a long-term extension on the contract that makes him a free agent at the end of 2024.
Those talks across Fremantle’s round 12 bye have been pushed back a couple of weeks as he gets some rest and relaxation before a big second half of the season.
As clubs across the competition try to work through how to establish an elite ruck department, the Dockers will lock away Darcy for the long-term.
For all the pre-season talk of Jackson stifling Darcy’s influence, the opposite has occurred.
As the Dockers attempted to give Lloyd Meek game time last year, Darcy averaged 64 ruck contests a game playing 87 per cent ruck and 13 per cent forward.
This season in rounds 1-10, alongside Jackson, he averaged 73 ruck contests and a 90-10 ruck forward split.
Jackson might thrive as the No.1 ruckman at times, but he was well aware when he came to Fremantle as a 21-year-old that playing alongside Darcy was the perfect way to extend his career.
And it would give Fremantle the best chance of success as he mixed rucking with a hybrid midfield role and the forward responsibility that has seen him kick six goals in the Dockers’ four-win streak (and 13.10 for the season).
So the Darcy-to-Geelong narrative won’t happen for the former Cobden man mountain as rivals look elsewhere.
Tom De Koning would have to sacrifice ruck opportunities and money to stay at Carlton, which seems increasingly unlikely.
The talks scheduled for the bye will likely drift until the end of the season as Geelong, St Kilda and Sydney chase the 23-year-old.
If he stayed it would be as the Blues’ No.2 ruckman and No.3 forward, even as his one-out ruck performance against Melbourne showed he was capable of holding down the ruck.
Last Friday’s clash against Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy was his highest-rated game for the year with 13 hitouts to advantage and two intercept marks.
If he did stay at Carlton it would be out of loyalty to the club that drafted him, and his strong mateship with his teammates.
Like Carlton, Geelong might pay him only $600,000 a season.
But the Cats can promise him the No.1 ruck position, plus a complimentary role in attack when 34-year-old Tom Hawkins eventually retires.

Montreal, Canada - "Do you smell smoke?" That's the question people in Canada have been asking each other this week as hundreds of wildfires are burning in what has been described as an "Unprecedented" start to the 2023 Canadian fire season.
The emergence of smoke-filled, discoloured skies in parts of Canada that typically aren't affected by wildfires has spurred widespread public concern and calls for authorities to better prepare for a problem that experts say is only going to get worse.
Jill Baumgartner, an associate professor in the School of Population and Global Health at McGill University in Montreal, said pollution levels in the city and in Canada more generally have been three to four times higher than usual as a result of the wildfires.
"We tend to think about wildfire smoke as being an acute or short-term exposure, but we're seeing that we're having these events more frequently. Wildfires are more common. They're happening for longer periods of time," she told Al Jazeera.
Flannigan said Canada needs to take a more proactive approach to wildfires going forward, including imposing fire bans and closing forests to recreational users and industry "Before the fire episode is upon you".
Environmental advocates are calling on Canada to do more to address the problem fuelling the recent scenes of wildfire devastation: climate change.

I've been playing since season 1 (free to play) and stopped playing around season 3 then started playing again around 2-3 months ago and I never have received any free items other than the season rewards.
My friend on the other hand (who also started in season 1, but stopped playing in season 2) has only started playing again within the last 3 weeks or so and out of nowhere got some items (not sure on the amount, one of which being the "Veteran" tag) after their wifi apparently cut out while playing.
I obviously have no clue on how this happened or why I havent gotten any of the items myself (do I also have to mess with my router I have no clue), I'm unsure if it's one of the 300+ items you got for free before the game became free (I'm told you this was a thing by a friend who played in the legacy seasons, but I'm unsure if this is true) and they got it from a glitch or what.
If someone which experience in the game could help me figure this out that'd be great.

Due to an incident at an underground bio lab a new strand of fluffies has been released into the world
Scary fluffies are fluffies who were subjects to strange and horrible experiment. Luckily for them one of the tests transformed 5 into weird monsters who now roam. The 5 categories shall be described below

1. Spoopy: this category is the least dangerous. Spoopy fluffies are fluffies who are basically like a regular fluffy but they might be a lil scary. A deformity or weird behaviors afflict these guys, they also lack pain receptors and don't even know when they're hurt. These fluffies are found anywhere, they can survive easily in the wild or in a home
   
2. Spooky: spooky fluffies look just like a regular fluffy But are exactly as smart as humans. They speak like a human and not in fluffy speak. These ones call themselves "brainers". These ones are usually dangerous as they understand what happens to fluffies and will often set up traps for humans to fall into. They are much more sturdy too
   
3. Horror: these flufflies are as large as horses and are extremely aggressive. These ones aren't all that interesting but they do enjoy gore and blood. They die rather quickly from self inflicted wounds when they reach teenage stage. Those who live to adulthood are called "ouchers" and often take care of hoards of fluffies
   
4. Grimm: these fluffies are horrifying to look at. Due to the pure terror and fear they bring to everything around them they often move to larger outside areas and live off small animals that die from shock at it's appearance. These ones are about the size of a medium dog and act like a regular fluffy, although they cannot understand the terror they produce
   
5. Terror: terror fluffies are the most dangerous. Even though the other categories are scary this one is terrifying for it's own way. These were made by combining human, orangutan, whale, and flat worm genes. What was found in the abandon facility was a true abomination. It was a massive brute with long arms and hands with a permanent grin slapped on its equine face. It was a mixture of methods that made the spooky, horror, and Grimm flufflies that produced this monster. It began to call itself Azrael and swore to make humans pay for it's creation and the creation of fluffies as a whole. The worst part about this beast is that it can both regenerate from most wounds & make sarcastic remarks about it.

I just finished Season 2 of "Galaxy Express 999" and it started out really strong, almost floundered in the middle, and then, actually, finished really strong.
But, uh ... I guess we're just gonna have to acknowledge the Elephant in the room and accept him as part of the décor, huh?
What I'm referring to, of course, is the uncomfortable subject that Tetsuro and Maetel are in love and are just destined soulmates that met too late/too early in time.
The reason is that in Season 1 they did a fairly good job of showing that, while, yes, they shared rooms. There was always double beds, there was privacy, there was interactions between them that was much more matronly and childlike. Maetel does get undressed a lot in front of him, but they play it off as Tetsuro being a kid and being too young or innocent to really flinch.
But, fairly early in Season 2, they began referring to Maetel as "Tetsuro's woman" and him not really denying it. Also, Maetel goes through this entire arc for five or six episodes where at every turn, she is trying to get Tetsuro to settle down with her somewhere so they can live together forever - her words. However, around the back half of the mid-season 2 they actually do an interesting thing and start showing that Tetsuro and Maetel are actually starting to get on one another's nerves a bit. I actually really liked that they were starting to clash, butt heads, and argue. However around the time of "The Pirate of the Time Castle" 3 part event, when Harlock officially dubs Tetsuro a man ... it, uh, it starts getting weird.
The one thing I started to notice as I was closing up Season 2 was that, uh, well, Tetsuro and Maetel's relationship changed after the encounter with evil robot Harlock and the man himself giving Tetsuro his personal stamp of manhood. One thing, obviously, is that Tetsuro is starting to realize that he's in love with Maetel ... which I guess is, look, every boy going on puberty is gonna feel that way, I guess, especally with Maetel (my dream girl). But there is also small things.
One of the big things I noticed is that after the "Time Castle" incident ... they're sleeping together. Not in the having sex way - thank the lord - but now, when they're staying at Westernized hotels, there's only a single bed now. Or if they're staying at a Japanese inn, they're sleeping closer together as a married couple would side by side, rather than before in season one where each futon is spaced a good deal away.
But, I think the thing that seals it for me, that we're supposed to accept that Maetel and Tetsuro are just in love, is in the Galaxy Railways OVA.
In the final episode of the four part OVA which crosses over with Galaxy Express 999, and takes place post "Galaxy Express 999: Eternal Fantasy" and is supposed to reboot 'Adeu' and 'Eternal Fantasy" into one timeline, you get a quiet scene between Tetsuro and Maetel that is extremely heavy handed in subtext. In it they basically acknowledge their love for one another and stop short of admitting their feelings with Maetel saying basically - paraphrasing.
"I cannot live if anything happens to you. Tetsuro you know how I feel about ..."
Then she cuts off and they both look down at their feet. before Tetsuro says quietly that she knows he feel the same way, or something to that effect.
I guess, at this point, I'm just gonna have to accept that Maetel and Tetsuro are destined soul mates of some sort.
Which, if that's the case - you know, weird - but can we stop doing young!Tetsuro stories now and age this guy up so at least it's less strange and creepy?
I mean, it's never not gonna be weird that Maetel fell in love with a 10/12 year old boy.
