Whole interior was painted in June from Certapro. I have no clue what’s happening but the painter is saying it’s structural. The thing is, none of the walls were like this before. House had been on the market for a long while. There were no cracks anywhere before and there are pics of the walls. Now that it’s been painted it seems to be falling apart. A little backstory, the house was smoked in so I decided this was not a job for me as the stains needed to be covered up. When I asked the painters what there solution was they said a really good primer would solve the issue. I questioned that being the only part of the solution. I had read a bunch about needing to really prep the walls as well. But I am also not a professional and these guys are a big name. So they went with zinsser BIN which I had heard was great too so it seemed legit. Well I wish I would have taken pics of the coat because it looked really thin. I questioned that as well but he said it was plenty. The paint looked great until about 2 months ago. Now I am dealing with this. Any ideas? I have heard poor prep is the main culprit and it could also be a million other things. If it was just one wall I would say yeah maybe some structure but it’s literally everywhere.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Given basically equal ratings I found online (4.9 out of 5), apples-to-apples comparison in the details of work to be done on each proposal, I think I’d be in good hands with either company.
Anything I should think about (besides price) while I’m pondering my decision?
If price ends up being the deciding factor, Five Star Painting wins, coming in at about 10% under CertaPro - but I’m here to solicit opinions because it’s not always just about money.

2022.09.06 00:10 ribfeast Sister in law hired a local certapro painter to remove wallpaper and paint her master bedroom. They finished the job but it’s clear the wallpaper is still there. How can we rectify this?
Previous owner just painted over the wallpaper and that was starting to peel up and look bad.
Room is 11 x 15 with 8 foot ceilings that peak up to 11’ in the middle. They charged $2200 for the painting and wallpaper removal. Seemed a bit high for one room but figured it was within the range for wallpaper removal and paint. She specified “removal”
They finished last week while she was still moving in.
I got in to see it today and had to break the bad news to her that it’s clear all they did was peel away the peeling edges of the wallpaper and spackle to try to smooth it. There are perfect lines perfectly spaced the width of the wallpaper visible under the paint.
She’s already paid them. What can she do or say to get a partial refund on this? Does the central certapro conglomerate care? Should she go straight to them?
It would be infeasible to get them back in to start over since all her furniture is now there and based on round one I wouldn’t let them near a paint brush ever again…
P.S. Additionally the rest of the job looks pretty shoddy. They had to come back to fix some zebra stripes and the cut in on the ceiling looks like a first timer did it with (not even good) tape.
