 | I recently rescaped my 210 cichlid tank to replace the jagged rocks with rounded Aquadecor faux rocks so my large Oscar would stop scraping himself up. submitted by scottts210 to Cichlid [link] [comments] As I removing the old rocks my pike’s covered cave got removed and now he really only has areas to hide, not a proper cave. As I was making these changes he started to develop the red markings you see in the pics. It happened so fast, right before my eyes, I have to assume this was stress induced from territory/protection loss. He hasn’t eaten significantly since, maybe a week now. Do I wait a bit more for him to adapt or perform some intervention to improve this? These new rocks make it difficult to form an actual cave for him to hide in. I fear I messed up. |

Graduated 3 weeks ago at 36 1/2 weeks and had an overall positive experience (here is my birth story from babybumps for those interested ) but it’s been non-stop scare after scare ever since.
Week 1- After we took the little one home, we ended up back at the dr for jaundice. His levels were around 21, even though there were 6 just over the weekend. Fortunately, our area has a program allowing you to rent the light therapy beds for home use, instead of having to stay in the hospital. So for the next 24 hours, babe was just chilling. He’s back down to acceptable levels and his skin tone has significantly improved!
Week 2- We noticed oral thrush popping up, and at our check uo, the pediatrician pointed out what we thought was a diaper rash was actually a yeast infection as well. So now he’s being treated for both. Our little Yeastie boy.
Week 3- Last night his breathing is very labored, wheezy, and he’s more lethargic than usual, really only waking up to eat. We go to the ER and he comes back with a positive RSV test. We’re sent home with a baby inhaler type thing, and instructions to monitor his temp & other symptoms. (Anything else I can do to make him more confortable or things to watch out for?)
I dont know if its just postpartum hormones or what, but I feel like I’m failing my child. I can’t seem to protect him and keep him healthy. Is this normal? Is it because he was born early? A string of bad luck? Is this just how it is with kids? Advice and feedback appreciated.

So there was a wounded hawk at my doorstep on Monday, me and a friend wound up being able to take it somewhere in town to be looked at and taken care of, since then numerous dead things like squirrels or smaller birds and stuff like that have shown up dead around my front door, my only theory is other hawk or hawks in the area noticed us taking care of the injured hawk and are now bringing me offerings or something as a thank you, I have no clue if thats a thing, hence why I'm on a bird reddit to try and figure this out. Yes I know how potentially stupid this sounds, but I have also had a really big hawk show up at my door alive and well before and just chill there and when we were getting the injured hawk, 1 did notice what we were doing and started making whatever noise hawks make at us

So I am in the last part of the Clues and Riddles quest in Glowecestrecire where I have to answer Halewayn’s questions. I collected the clues but during this process I ended up in the water (I thought the treasure chest marker was a quest clue) and I didn’t have my mask on when I came out of the water. Halewayn won’t talk to me without the mask on and I can’t find it in my inventory or around the area. okay so back story, i’m 23, about to be 24, and my boyfriend is 28, we’ve been together for 4.5 years. and he was being suspicious about where we’re going for my birthday. but then he reminded me to take off the 8th (my bday) 9th and 10th. i panicked about what we were doing on the 10th bc he said it was an all day thing. but then he said i should be concerned about the day before, because he has to pick out my outfit, and i asked why? and he said your birthday dinner. we usually go to red robins or ihop for my birthday because they have my safe foods. (i have arfid, so i’m extremely picky. so i’m also nervous about not liking the food, when we went to disney, i didn’t like anything they had lol, even tho he thought it was safe. i’m scared this won’t be safe.) he gave me very little clues but i know reddit’s full of no-it-alls🫶🏻 thank you in advance.

Meanwhile, Pankratios, with 4 700 men, defeated the 2 400 Romans at the Battle of Silistria in June. Pankratios continued the campaign and captured several forts of the noble families. In 1014, Basileus Anthimos intervened as he did not want to lose these lands. He forced the families to pay a ransom to the Argeads in exchange for the return of their cities. That year, Leontia made a deal with the nobility to give them more rights and autonomy in hope of keeping the stability of the realm. She also had another daughter, Simonis. However, the agreement did not last as one of the nobles, duchess Lyudmila, revolted against the Argeads in 1015. The Myrmidons were once again called and their leader, Marko, led the campaign against the rebels, who had made sure they enjoyed a lot of popular support for the conflict. Marko successfully crushed the rebellion in a few weeks only, by boldly ambushing the rebels and taking all of their resources before they could organize. Lyudmila was arrested and stripped of all of her titles and lands while the other leaders were executed. The peace lasted for some time, during which Leontia was once again able to invest into Attica, which by that point was by far the most prosperous region in the realm. Until 1018, when Leontia discovered a conspiracy where the Argeads from Cyprus were trying to peacefully add Thessalonika to their domain by switching the allegiance of the officials. The despotissa sent some men to deal with the situation, however they were murdered and then she sent an entire army to bring it into the fold before Cyprus could intervene. The officials were defeated, stripped of their ranks and Leontia began to manage Thessalonika more closely. The next year, Leontia reorganized Rashka, which had previously belonged to Lyumlida. She created noble houses from the local Serbian population and gave them titles and lands in the region, in hope of counterbalancing the Bulgarian nobility which was causing her such trouble since the beginning of her reign. In 1020, Leontia began the construction of a grand temple in Athens in honor of the ancient Greek gods and the Argead dynasty. In 1021, Prince Alexandros died during an accident. Leontia began to drink heavily to drown her sorrows. Yet, she also found more time and gold to work on her domains as there was peace and stability in the realm. She improved the law, the administration, the organization of the cities, the farming system, all while being fair and just. Her court was open to everyone, including commoners. However, he was a Catholic and because Leontia did not follow Christ, he was able to call on the Knight Templars, an order of warriors made to fight the enemies of the Catholics. The despotissa, in turn, called for the Myrmidons. In total, the Catholics had 10 700 men, while the Argeads were 11 400, under the command of Maximos. While she was busy in Beroë, she lent 2 000 soldiers to Theognosia, a Greek woman trying to take a city from her brother, in exchange for her allegiance after the campaign. The Eastern Roman Empire, despite the loss of such a large territory with the Argead independence half a century before, had managed to hold together under the leadership of Anthimos, who was a skilled general. Leontia had had the goal to invade for several years and was waiting for an opportunity. But the Empire stayed stable and she was getting old, so she decided to attack nonetheless. Anthimos gathered 12 000 men. However, under Leontia the Argead realm had grown stronger and richer. Including the Myrmidons, she was able to rely on 15 000 soldiers for the war. The two armies faced each other at the Battle of Smolyan in September. The Argeads, led by Viseslav, were victorious, though it was not a decisive victory. Viseslav went back in Argead territory for the winter, and then both sides started capturing the forts and cities of the other, the Argeads in Thrace and the Romans in Asia Minor. This went on until November 1040, when Anthimos led his army back to Thrace to defend his land. They fought at the Battle of Ustra. The Romans were defeated and Anthimos himself was captured during the battle. It was the decisive victory Leontia had been looking for. With the Basileus in her custody, she imposed harsh conditions on him. He was forced to give back the forts taken, while confirming the loss of the cities taken by the Argead and even giving more, including Constantinople itself. The surrender of Constantinople was a shock to the Christian and Muslim world. For centuries it had been held by the Roman Empire without ever being captured, and for the first time it was abandoned to a foreign power. People from the time saw it as a sign of the coming end of the Eastern Roman Empire and the rise of a new power in its place. After the war, Leontia focused on rebuilding and changing Constantinople. She planned for it to be her new capital. However, during the year 1041 she lost first her lover and then her daughter Simonis, dying in childbirth. It took a heavy toll on her and she took her own life in early 1042, at 68. Despite all of her successes, she faced a lot of loss and her mental health was definitely affected. It is believed her tendency to bury herself in work only made matters worse. She was a heavy drunkard, even for the time, and it is even surprising she lived as long as she did. Despite her difficult early reign, Leontia managed to make the Argead realm rich and prosperous. Athens became the fourth most important city of Europe, behind Constantinople, Rome and Cordoba. She is also seen positively today for having been such a just ruler, which is not to be exaggerated by believing she was a friend of the peasants in her realm. She was still part of the elites. Her capture of Constantinople had a large impact and completely changed the balance of power between the Argeads and the Eastern Roman Empire. In 2020 after working through the first and second or third wave of covid I went to my first outing at my best friend’s house. I arrived late as I had a nightmare the night before and was feeling somewhat sketchy having not been around people prior to March 2020. I arrived late, didn’t really eat, and ended up drinking the whole bottle of wine I brought. I had broken my ankle just maybe a week before this so I was limited in activities I could do at the party. They had set up multiple activities in various areas on the property; however, I was limited in options due to my broken ankle and fracture boot. I played bean bag toss. That’s the last memory I have of that evening. I woke up early in the morning, I was sore, but figured I exceeded my physical limitations, waking up without my fracture boot further confirmed this. I woke up fully clothed in the same room as my son. I felt guilty for getting drunk the previous night. I messaged my sister all morning, sharing memes on Instagram. Eventually, around six am I saw my friend cleaning up outside, I opened the window and called her over and she helped me down to shower as my fracture boot was still wet from drinking during a rainstorm while playing bean bags the previous evening. Well after my shower the day went as follows. I hung out with my long time friend and there was her guy friend who wouldn’t leave. She was being rude to him and confirming and arguing certain events he talked about and she used snap chat to confirm parts of their argument. I thought she was being pretty rude. I ignored this as I figured this was a situational event and none of my business. Fast forward, I found out I was SA’d that night by her best friend (the guy friend she was upset with) and my son was a witness to everything. He was able to describe everything he endured in great detail in attempt to protect me. I’ll never forgive myself. We have court later this year and nothing has ever been the same. I hate myself. He deserves a better mom. I would do anything to take away the pain he was put through that night. “Can you help me find my mom’s pants?” It’s often my first thought when I wake up and last thought before I go to sleep. I was his protector and he became mine that night. Not appropriate. I hate myself for it.

Sorry in advance for the long post, but I hope it's amusing!
I've been playing cataclysm off-and-on for about a year, but most of my runs have been pretty short-lived. I'd usually end up dying mid-summer due to dying to some acid-based zombie, but on my current run I've been doing much better than I ever have before. I've even managed to raid a lab, installing cbms and mutating myself along the way. It's amazing, but I don't know if I'll ever convince myself to play again if I die and lose my Sōjutsu + Lucerne Hammer combo. As a matter of fact, I nearly died today and almost tore my hair out in the process.
I was raiding a trans-coast logistics (which is a rather fancy name for what could otherwise just be called "big lab") for the first time, and my expedition was going wonderfully. I found a couple of mutagens along with other specialized lab equipment, and neither the bots nor the zombies were putting up too much of a fight (I even managed to obliterate a melded task force by melee alone!) - in other words, I was getting a little too cocky. In my hubris, I stopped my usual tactic of kiting zombies and leaving the lab to heal every time I hit "moderate pain" and started running through the lab as fast as possible, looking for the last piece of home-lab equipment I was missing (the fabled fractional distillation apparatus)
At one point, I enter a room with only a single cleaning bot in it. For those who haven't encountered them, this is a timid little bot which doesn't even so much as fight back. I didn't need to kill it... and in fact, doing so would serve little purpose at this point. But I was beyond the point of needless things like "caution" and "basic reasoning ability". So instead of leaving it alone, I stab it... ...only for it to explode and set me on fire. In approximately sixty in-game seconds my danger level drops from hydrogen bomb to crying baby as both of my legs burn up (along with my combat boots which I had grown so fond of - goodbye sweet acid protection), leaving me practically immobile and in-severe pain in one of the lower floors of the hardest area in the game. Hoo boy. At least the fire went out after it finished burning my legs...
After spending a couple seconds crying (irl) and calling out to god for help (in-game), I mentally debate the idea of smashing some furniture in the lab, crafting a splint and simply waiting out my recovery in this cleaning bot's now empty room. But of course, I didn't bring a coat (I flashback to four minutes ago, where my past self is laughing at the idea of staying the lab long enough for the cold to get to me. It'll be in-and-out before my morning coffee is done brewing [again, irl], he says to himself). I don't know if it gets cold enough in the lab for someone to freeze to death, but I decide not to test that theory. So, my heart still pounding, I drag my pathetic, burned body across the floor of the lab through the "safe route" I cleared out earlier. I run into a couple skitterbots on the way there, thinking my run would be ended by the most pathetic enemies the game has to offer, but apparently they can't even hit a barely-moving target. I barely do any damage in my weakened state, but managed to finally beat each one after four in-game minutes of fighting.
Eventually I manage to exit the facility. But I still have another challenge ahead of me - getting home. Usually I'd just walk my "safe-ish" route through a forest, but now even the idea of running into a regular zombie sends shivers up my spine. Thankfully, the lab's parking lot has ton of cars... most of which I drove back to my home base on earlier trips when I was scoping out the place. Whoops. I get in, and I'm delighted to find there's still a quarter-full tank of fuel. I'm less delighted to find that I can't see over the dashboard while prone, but I find out after five minutes of harrowing blind driving that - thankfully - you can sit on seats even while your legs are crippled so long as you don't move to a new tile. Please don't think about how I managed to operate the gas pedals without working limbs - and to any devs reading; please do not implement anything based on my last sentence. The rest of the drive still makes my hair stand on end, especially when passing a triffid grove and "place where I saw a mi-go once and avoided for the entire next in-game season", but I finally make it home, craft splints for my legs, and collapse on my cozy bed.
I wake up the next morning with fully healed limbs. I know I have good in-game health and the "very fast healing" mutation, but thinking about what my body did overnight gives me the shivers irl. I'm more blob than man at this point, and it's not just because I'm fat this time!
Anyways, I digress. I come away from this experience wielding lessons more crucial than any weapon:
1) Don't get cocky in games with permadeath
2) Always tip the cleaning lady, or at least do not skewer her with a spear-like implement.
3) Humanity peaked at the discovery of fire. It was our scariest weapon back then and it still is today.

I've been playing cataclysm off-and-on for about a year, but most of my runs have been pretty short-lived. I'd usually end up dying mid-summer due to dying to some acid-based zombie, but on my current run I've been doing much better than I ever have before. I've even managed to raid a lab, installing cbms and mutating myself along the way. It's amazing, but I don't know if I'll ever convince myself to play again if I die and lose my Sōjutsu + Lucerne Hammer combo. As a matter of fact, I nearly died today and almost tore my hair out in the process.
I was raiding a trans-coast logistics (which is a rather fancy name for what could otherwise just be called "big lab") for the first time, and my expedition was going wonderfully. I found a couple of mutagens along with other specialized lab equipment, and neither the bots nor the zombies were putting up too much of a fight (I even managed to obliterate a melded task force by melee alone!) - in other words, I was getting a little too cocky. In my hubris, I stopped my usual tactic of kiting zombies and leaving the lab to heal every time I hit "moderate pain" and started running through the lab as fast as possible, looking for the last piece of home-lab equipment I was missing (the fabled fractional distillation apparatus)
At one point, I enter a room with only a single cleaning bot in it. For those who haven't encountered them, this is a timid little bot which doesn't even so much as fight back. I didn't need to kill it... and in fact, doing so would serve little purpose at this point. But I was beyond the point of needless things like "caution" and "basic reasoning ability". So instead of leaving it alone, I stab it... ...only for it to explode and set me on fire. In approximately sixty in-game seconds my danger level drops from hydrogen bomb to crying baby as both of my legs burn up (along with my combat boots which I had grown so fond of - goodbye sweet acid protection), leaving me practically immobile and in-severe pain in one of the lower floors of the hardest area in the game. Hoo boy. At least the fire went out after it finished burning my legs...
After spending a couple seconds crying (irl) and calling out to god for help (in-game), I mentally debate the idea of smashing some furniture in the lab, crafting a splint and simply waiting out my recovery in this cleaning bot's now empty room. But of course, I didn't bring a coat (I flashback to four minutes ago, where my past self is laughing at the idea of staying the lab long enough for the cold to get to me. It'll be in-and-out before my morning coffee is done brewing [again, irl], he says to himself). I don't know if it gets cold enough in the lab for someone to freeze to death, but I decide not to test that theory. So, my heart still pounding, I drag my pathetic, burned body across the floor of the lab through the "safe route" I cleared out earlier. I run into a couple skitterbots on the way there, thinking my run would be ended by the most pathetic enemies the game has to offer, but apparently they can't even hit a barely-moving target. I barely do any damage in my weakened state, but managed to finally beat each one after four in-game minutes of fighting.
Eventually I manage to exit the facility. But I still have another challenge ahead of me - getting home. Usually I'd just walk my "safe-ish" route through a forest, but now even the idea of running into a regular zombie sends shivers up my spine. I've been working on a cryomancer subclass for the sorcerer, and I would love to get some feedback. I uploaded an older, unfinished version earlier, but here is the updated version.
Flash Freeze
At 1st level, you can instantly cover your body and gear in a layer of ice. On your turn as a bonus action, or as a reaction when a creature attacks you, you can grant yourself this protection for 1 minute. While you have this protective layer of ice:
• You gain temporary hit points equal to your Sorcerer level + your Proficiency bonus.
• Your AC increases by a number equal to your proficiency bonus.
• When you cast a spell that deals cold damage, add your proficiency bonus to the damage dealt by that spell.
• You have resistance to fire damage.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. When you have no uses of this feature left, you can expend 1 Sorcery point you use this feature again.
Ice Pike
Also at 1st level, as an action, you can create a large spear of ice and throw it at one creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against a target within 60 ft. The spear deals cold damage equal to 1d10 + your Proficiency bonus, and the damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10).
Force of the Frozen
Also starting at 1st level, you have learned to manipulate the cold to great effect. Any of your spells, attacks, or effects ignore resistance to cold damage, and creatures with immunity suffer half damage instead (rounded up).
Ice in the Veins
At 6th level, you have become a master at maintaining a calm state in stressful situations. You can add your Charisma modifier to any Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma saving throw you make.
Bitter Cold
Starting at 14th level, your mastery of the cold has granted you the ability to overcome any defenses against the cold that a creature may have. Any of your spells, attacks, or effects ignore immunity to cold damage.
Freezing Aura
Also at 14th level, your protective coating of ice becomes particularly potent. While you have temporary hit points granted by your Flash Freeze feature:
•Any creature that hits you with a melee attack suffers cold damage equal to your Proficiency bonus.
• If a creature starts its turn within 5 feet of you, the creature suffers cold damage equal to your Proficiency bonus.
• You have immunity to fire damage.
Cryogenic Stasis
Also at 14th level, you become capable of encasing creatures in ice. When you hit a creature(s) with an attack that deals cold damage, you can spend 2 Sorcery points per creature to attempt to freeze the target(s). The target(s) must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be Petrified until the end of your next turn.
Glacial Eruption
At 18th level, as an action, you can cause pillars of ice to erupt from the ground. Choose a point within 60 feet of you. Each creature within a 10-foot cube must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d10 + your Proficiency bonus cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Additionally, the ground in each area becomes difficult terrain until cleared. Each 5-foot-square portion of the area requires at least 1 minute to clear by hand. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. When you have no uses of this feature left, you can expend 1 sorcery point you use this feature again.
