TL;DR: I (23M) am currently on leave from medical school. I left during M1 due to mental health issues, and almost unaliving myself. It’s been a rough year, and quite the learning experience, but I’m doing better.
I’m now struggling with the idea of going back though…but also…not going back too. I only have a few weeks to decide. I don’t want to make a mistake either way, but I fear potential regret from either choice.
I’m not sure what I’m looking for by posting this, or if it’s just a vent, but thank you for reading if you do. You are all amazing.

I posted a few months ago about how I took a leave from medical school during my first year.
Long story short I had a lot of mental health issues (and no meds), a drug/alcohol problem, and at my lowest had an unaliving letter written to my loved ones and was actively planning my way out. My entire family dropped everything to fly across the country to pull me out of school because despite my struggles, I couldn’t give it up on my own.
After leaving I spent some time in a facility, and got some nice grippy socks. I was eventually cleared though (woo-hoo 🥳), and have been trying by best to stay healthy ever since.
I started proper medication, quit drinking, kicked my addictions, got pretty fit actually, traveled some, etc. Things have gotten better…but the scars of the past are still there. I’d be lying if I said I was 100% okay. I still meet with multiple mental health professionals on a regular basis, and am now pretty reliant on (properly prescribed) meds to get me through the day.
Fast forward to these last few weeks and (re)entrance tasks have picked up. Paperwork, zooms, emails, loans, cross-country apartment hunting, etc. have all triggered me to say the least. I can feel the anxiety building.
I’m scared of losing myself again. Or even worse, racking up $100k of debt per year and then losing it at some point down the road when I’m in too deep. I already have ~$100k debt from undergrad + last year with a pretty useless chemistry degree to show for it. However, I’m also scared to let this all go.
People from the outside make it seem like it’s so easy to just walk away. It’s not. Like many of you, I put everything into this. This was my dream, and the only career I ever really considered. Getting here consumed so many years of my life. I’m not the brightest person, so I worked pretty hard in undergrad for good grades. I made no friends. I didn’t go out. The MCAT took forever to study for. Meanwhile, I couldn’t work, do internships, or build a real-world resume because I was so focused on checking boxes to get in. And that’s just my part. My parents also supported me in many ways financially throughout this entire process.
As dumb as it may sound, I hate that I feel so stuck on a path that I’ve barely even started. I got a near 4.0 from a decent undergrad, I got a 52X on my MCAT, I got into a top medical school, I spent years getting here. I worked so hard…..all potentially for nothing?
I hate that I only have a few weeks to decide if I want to try this out again, or fully drop out. I already got denied extending my leave another year.
I hate that if I do drop out, there’s no going back. I’ll likely never be accepted again, even if I were to reapply several years down the line. I’m scared I’ll regret it.
I hate that if I do drop, I’ll be doing so without an actual taste of what real medicine is like. Just a really small sample of preclinical, which is nothing like clinical medicine.
I hate that leaving means I’ll probably have to go back to undergrad, and potentially work towards a backup career that might not turn out the way I’m hoping again. A career that will always be something I did less out of interest, and moreso because medicine just didn’t happen for me. There is nothing I’d want to do with a chemistry degree.
I think most of all though, I hate thinking that there is a chance, even if it’s a very small one, that I could go back to med school and figure it all out. I could get through it all and love being a doctor like I always thought I would. I could maybe finish and look back on this one day & be so happy that I stuck it out. But, there’s no guarantee.
Obviously this is a personal decision…it’s my life after all. I just wish it didn’t have to be this difficult.

Sorry 4 the rant // just want advice
I am sick I currently have a sinus infection and I think I have an ear infection and the ear infection is causing me to leak fluid out my ear, cause ear aches, & headaches

Apparently not, earlier this morning I decided to tell my mom before she goes to work since this is my day off that I am going to go to a hospital after she gets something work because obviously clearly sick and need some antibiotics... She told my father and my father comes in my room tells him I need to stop complaining about stupid shit and that I need to "man up"
I was just telling her my plans for my day yk what I mean just to let her know and I feel like I'm being attacked just cause or picked on... I really don't try to complain I focus on the positive for the most part & I lead with logic for the most part & I'm a very agreeable person yk
Does anyone else kinda have like this problem or had it? I wanna talk with my parents about this but I don't wanna come across as dramatic or anything when I try to speak with them yk

I've been paranoid about bedbugs for ~4 years, never actually had them.

Extra Info:
We (wife, 2 babies, and I) are visiting in-laws for a few weeks. No one has stayed in our room since we left there, almost exactly 1 year ago. 5 Days ago, we found these two bugs in our room, the day after a trip to the zoo (1 on pillow, 1 on wall corner in the opposite side of the room away from all beds/people).
Yesterday, we found these blood stains on one of our child's bed sheet and blanket. It could have been there longer, but we only happened to look and see it yesterday.
Possible blood sources: This child has had bloody noses a few times over the past month. I have the bad habit of picking my hangnails, causing bleeding.
After extensive searching the mattresses, box springs, and frames of all three beds/cribs and the surrounding areas, I haven't found any bugs, eggs, husks, poop stains, or other evidence.

So my very obese white cat has been in my basement for the past 2 years ever since my other cat had kittens. I also think she could be down their because thats where her best friend, my other cat of 16 years passed in the basement about 4 years ago. Mind you my cat is 8 years old right now, and I wanna start her on a diet and get her moving again. But the other 4 cats in my house like to pick on her except the one who had kittens. I tried to bring her upstairs multiple times but she went crazy and hair got all over. Any thoughts or answers would be appreciated.

Baldur's Gate definitely offers you some viking flavour in both the Berserker and the Skald, but I've been reading the Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell and also listening to viking podcasts and based on that trying to create a build on how a viking (probably) would have fought because a little bit trickier.
My Reasoning as to what a viking build is:
I'd say fighter is definitely in there somewhere. Even regular viking farmers knew how to use an axe/spear and a shield. I would argue against Berserker. Much ado is made about these people, and there is some historical truth that a few elite warriors drugged themselves into a frenzy, but the vast majority of Viking warriors, including those serving in the variety of armies, were regular guys who learned to fight with weapon, shield and armour. Not cloth and two axes.
So you would want to put pips in axe because spears are two-handed and pips in sword-and-shield. The richest Danes, the leaders and warchiefs, also carried longswords, so you could put pips in that instead. BG offers plenty of magical longswords throughout the entire trilogy. And to round it all off, you'd probably need pips in shortsword as well. Repeatedly mentioned in the Saxon Stories is that a seax (short daggesword hybrid) is much better to fight with in a shield wall than a longsword which requires reach and an axe which can easily get stuck in a shield.
So we start with fighter, with grandmastery in pips in axe, longsword and shortsword, along with some pips in sword-n-shield. You do not put pips into two-weapon fighting, because no matter what age, vikings either used shields or carried big-ass two-handed halberds. Hell, the Varangian Guard from the Eastern Roman Empire (viking bodyguards) did both at the same time. Their greatest weakness was their inability to adapt to heavy cavalry charges both in England and the Middle East.
Now, Next, I'd argue that you want to dual class into thief. What made the start of the Viking Age so devastating is that viking longships could reach coasts easily, vikings could do their work and then leave before any organized opposition could arrive. Even the battles in the Great Heathen Army relied more on guile and stealth than proper strategy. The Danes could conquer large swaths of land because of their mobility, surprise attacks and a few clever strategies rather than military prowess or discipline.
It also helps that longsword is a backstab weapon, so you can start with longsword and then move to axe for better magical effects or even a ranged weapon. You carry a shield and try to get Elven chainmail asap. Nothing better. Chainmail dominated all of the Early Medieval period as the best armour kings, nobles and warriors could get their hands on.
So with all of that context, here's my build:
Human: F->T (13/39)
Alignment: Chaotic Good. Uthred (protagonist Saxon Stories) starts off very much chaotic neutral, but mellows into chaotic good.
Stats: 18 Str, Dex and Con, 10 in the others for balance: minimum 84
Pips: 2 in axe, 2 in longsword. Put three in axe and master it, then put a third pip in longsword. Then dual class, where you want a pip in shortsword, sword-n-shield, longsword, shortbow and dagger. These are all weapons vikings used. Then once you've reactivated your your class, two more pips in longsword. You now have 4 pips left, which is perfect to grandmaster shortsword. Depending on how much you do of SoA and ToB, you may not get all your thief levels, but ah well.
Weapons BG1: Axes, though Varscona is also good. You'll probably use +2 axe and +2 throwing axe.
Gear BG1: Helm of Balduran (vikings didn't use horned helmets! But the effects are too good), cloak of Balduran, the +2 Chainmail, +2 round shield, the rest is up to you.
Weapons BG2: Frostreaver or Stonefire, Azuredge for axes. Blade of Roses as an early +3 sword, Daystar is good for undead (though so is Azuredge). Very long-term you probably want to go for the Answerer, which is a better +4 sword than the epic longsword.
Gear BG2: Helm of Balduran, Shield of Harmony, the best Elven Chainmail you can get (Black Dragon Scale while dual classing). The rest doesn't matter, though Kangaxx ring is an obvious pick.
HLA: Assassination, Traps, etc. UAI is not that great for the special gear, but because of the weaker armour stoneskin scrolls or whichever spell you fancy becomes pretty good to use in a bind.

Hello everyone,
Long story short company where I am working at (marketing/digital agency) has put a couple of roles up to redundancy.
Whilst I am not directly in danger, I have the feeling of not knowing what to do in general.
I've been working in Paid Social Media (advertising on Facebook, Instagram etc) for a bit over 4 years now.
This has helped me quite a bit over the pandemic (worked remote) which helped with other personal problems during this time.
But overall, I can't say I'm ecstatic about it, or even enjoying it in a major way.
Not sure if it's me being burnt out in general (mix of work and the personal matters), but I was thinking of picking something else up.
Think the most useful thing would be if I could get something remote (which is more common in other domains) so was thinking of doing a course for something else (UX/UI, learning how to code, cybersecurity).
I think this thread can be reduced to if anyone has any advice, or if you've felt the same, what did you do?
Could be life in general, or just the work, but I do feel stuck somehow.

Assalamualaikum guys, non Saudi here, i got few packages waiting for pick up at the saudi post office, im not in saudi and i need those packages to be picked up and delivered to my virtual P. O. Box with a company called box it 4 me, if they stay for 30 days at the post office(they're been there for about 21 days) they'll get sent back to where they came fron and I'd lose them, I have already lost a few packages that way
I tried to get the company to pick them up but they said the couldn't do it, and i can't get the saudi post office to deliver them because I'm not a Saudi

Hi all… I am in the process of building a cabinet with a tankstick I picked up. This sub has convinced me to use a PC and launch box as my foundation. I found this on my local buy and sell… It doesn’t list a GPU, however, I am only interested in emulating systems up to but excluding the ps2/3D era.
Would this suffice? I would add another ssd to hold the build

Lots of people out there are generically funny, but few are talented.
If you picked a random company and forced everyone there to do comedy professionally for 3 years, many people would end up making a passable set. They could get paid gigs, achieve some passing acclaim.
Point being: 1) lots of people are reasonably funny, 2) could write a decent set if they had to put their mind to it, 3) most comedians aren’t special.
It’s akin to how most people could be decent at piano if forced to learn it at an early age, but few have prodigious talent and can become concert pianists.
The difference is that with comedy, the “concert pianist” goal always seems a reality because mediocre comics have way more job opportunities than mediocre pianists. You can delude yourself that you’re uniquely talented and going somewhere, when in reality you’re a dime a dozen sorta funny person who’s practiced a bunch, and people are mostly chuckling through your forgettable set.
Most comedians are like authors mass producing unoriginal paperbacks of little lasting note. Few comedians are like authors who produce brilliant, original works that stand the test of time, or even pretty decent books.
You’re only talented if:

• Your sets are original, not tropes seen in 2000 comedy clubs every day
  
• People routinely crack up at your material, not chuckle. Your set isn’t 3 decent jokes and 4 minutes of “haha, it’s funny enough and I guess we should be laughing” filler. Again: anyone decently funny could do the latter
  
• You can easily write jokes people crack up at; it’s not a belaboured process
  
• If you’re in an underrepresented group (I’m in one myself), your set would be just as remarkable if performed by a middle-aged white man (obviously with some jokes changed). You’re not in any way coasting on being promoted for diversity’s sake. Your set is good because it’s funny, not because it’s “sorta funny, and it’s nice to see (your group) up there”.
  

Pursue comedy if it’s fun, but most people are pretty average.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense or sounds vague but it came to my mind after hearing the phrase "wage slavery" ingrained in mind, million times on the sub. (No problems with sub just it comes out every post it seems)
Would be cool to have like a mind map of how the power structures in society try to control you, whether it's:

1. Prison/Police
2. Military
3. Politics
4. Religion
5. Education
6. Taxes

Not sure if its a good idea or not, and perhaps you can just pick up everything just reading a variety of different books, but I just thought it would a cool way to help navigate this shit hole world. :)
Perhaps it can be a variety of posts showing the different ways society manipulates you.

I’m a full time CS student at a state university with about 2 years left until my graduation. I have 2 scholarships, 1 that pays my tuition in full and another that disburses $30,000 divided over 4 years. I also have been working as a software engineer in my MCOL city for the past year at $30 an hour. To this point, my employer has been flexible with me scheduling my work around my classes, and I’ve been able to manage my expenses, both so long as I work about 30 hours a week.
However I am approaching a problem. Starting this fall, it’s extremely unlikely that I will be able to schedule my work and classes effectively. My degree program has very little to no online options for higher level courses, and there are fewer times to pick from. It would be virtually impossible for me to be in the office at my job regularly. My scholarship requires a certain number of credit hours so I am essentially entirely at the mercy of my class schedule. As much as I would love to just focus on school, I need an income. Here are some options I’m considering:

• Find a remote job: Ideally this would allow me more flexibility, but I’ve never had a remote job before and I don’t know how feasible it is while going to school full time. The ideal situation would be to find a place that pays slightly better per hour and would allow me to work part time (20~ hours) but I don’t know how realistic finding a position like this would be.
  
• Negotiating my current position to be fully remote: I really, really enjoy the company I work for right now, but I don’t know how realistic this would be. My boss believes in having people at the office and he is already allowing me to only come in 3 days a week due to school. I don’t feel that he would be confident in my productivity if I were to work remotely full time. I would also be forced to work less hours starting this fall. At my current pay rate I would be stretching myself a bit thin.
  
• Transferring to a online degree program: A well-respected university in my state offers a fully online CS degree. It would certainly offer me the flexibility to work full time, in person or remote. I would still have my tuition payed for in full. However, I would be giving up $15,000 in my other remaining scholarship money. I also do enjoy going to class in person, a lot. I love campus, and the sports games, and all the other college stuff. So, the opportunity cost of this option is difficult for me to weigh.
  

I would love some advice on what course of action I should take. Thank you
