Have a look at Tau-44, an Oceanic mil-sim community based in the SCP universe.
In our continuity, the Foundation is no longer a secret, the public knows that anomalies exist (even if they don't know all the details), and groups of interest have surged in numbers; many of which have plans to use or abuse anomalies for their own good.
Wars over these anomalies - waged both in the open and behind closed doors - have become commonplace, dictating the requirement for more MTFs like Tau-44 to fight the conventional fight so that others in the Foundation may continue the mission to Secure, Contain, and Protect.
Our unit,
Mobile Task Force Tau-44 "Phalanx", is a globally ready first recon and fast response force aimed at putting effective initial investigation and surgical strike capabilities into the hands of regional Department Heads, O3 and O4 Councils, and Site Directors on assignment request.
With an emphasis on being the first force in position, as well as the last force to give up ground, Tau-44 are the go-to MTF for sensitive tasking where conflict with enemy armed combatants is likely. Where Nu-7 "Hammer Down" famously embodies the obvious, eponymous hammer, Tau-44 "Phalanx" is equal parts the anvil and the scalpel.
Based out of Site-231 in the sunny region of █████, ████████, Tau-44 trains for a typical deployment consisting of less than a company of soldiers, comprised of a primary HQ element directing platoon-sized detachments, further organised into teams of two four-man fire-teams.

Frequently asked questions:
- What are your experience requirements? We understand not everyone has 2000+ hours of hardcore mil-sim gameplay or even any hours at all. Because of that we offer a training course specially designed to teach our new players our unit's tactics, mods, gameplay, and many other aspects. So even if you have never played in an Arma 3 mil-sim before, we're happy to take you on board.
- How dedicated do I have to be? Our general rule of thumb is that you attend as many operations as you can, but we understand that real life obviously takes precedence over the unit. This is only a game, real life is real life. Don't feel stressed about having to come to every mission.
- When do we play? Tau-44 runs events on Sunday nights starting from 6:00pm ACST and expect our active players to regularly attend. Operations normally last 2-3 hours.
- Do I need any of the DLC? To play in our operations, you will need the Apex and Contact DLCs. All other DLCs are optional, but recommended.

Even when I am parked, i can't type or look up addresses on navigation apps. Waze won't let me use the app at all and Google maps says "voice only while parked," which works fine until you say a street name that has 7 different ways it could be spelled and it can't find it. And it doesn't help that it completely locks you out of using your phone apps while android auto is active.
Does anybody else have issues, or is it just me and should I talk to my dealer about it?

Our community has an organized ranking structure beginning with Members who comprise the majority of the roster. Scouts are our support team of Members who've stepped up to more officially support the FC, some work on obtaining a future leadership rank. Lieutenants and Officers comprise the proud Azure Council, a diverse group of players of different specialties and services to the FC, making up lower and higher tier leadership, seeing over the Scouts and the FC weekly events, aside from being admins. The FC Infinitum Master oversees all and leads the Azure Council and the company forward while always keeping the heart and vision of the community alive and in sight. Currently we are re-assessing ranks in the free company, giving more support permissions and duties to our Scouts, while the current council operates as a small team of Lieutenants lead by the FC Master.
Everyone Welcome and Who Fits Best
We have an open door policy. Whether you're casual, a returning player, a veteran, or a newbie, we have a vast array of players in our member roster. Our weekly schedule is organized and provides an array of activity for players of most levels, however we like to ask players who're pretty new or under the level cap, to be extra vocal about their needs while they're still unable to attend some daily events or higher level content that most of our weekly lineup focuses on. We want everyone to have as much fun as possible and have the most success. We find that most players enjoy Azure Infinitum, many have stated that they subscribed to FFXIV much longer than they ever would have imagined after they have been around in our community, as they've gotten involved and experienced all that we offer.
Our FC keeps a daily schedule (see here: https://www.azureinfinitum.com/events/) of events that are hosted by permitted Scouts and Council ranks, these range from 8-man and 24-man raids and map parties, to WT journal groups and trial clear parties or farms, and more- and attending anything isn't mandatory at all here. We're happy to have you, and its up to our members how much they'd like to get involved. Attendance is optional! There's never any stress to attend FC functions.
Savage Raiding Statement
We find that some hardcore raiders looking for free companies just to join their statics who don't already have one, might not fit well if savage raiding is their only or greatest focus, because traditionally Azure does not have a Savage Static, but focuses more on allowing members to organize their own groups and also provides resources to do so. Despite not supporting an official static for the FC, we hope that hardcore raiders enjoy the wealth of our community's wealth of harmony and overall fun, and that everyone may take initiative to seek out or build a raiding static within our community if they are interested, as opposed to missing out on experiencing Azure. Depending on the content season, we may have an Unofficial static lead by a leader, and routinely offer limited time Savage-learning events that may run for a number of months.
Rules and No Drama Policy
Please take a moment to look over our Rules Page at (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/rules/), we find that rude individuals and people who create drama are the outsiders here that don't fit well. We know its a big page, so at least visit the General Rules section before joining.
Recruitment Care & Activity
People of Azure Infinitum are often if not always good natured players who found their way to our community looking for a place with structure, friendliness, organization, and great activity, or they've been scouted during recruitment drives and have been well screened. Its a place where one can be social and attend everything, or relax in the background and enjoy the services and facilities of being in an active, organized, and friendly FC. We actively recruit periodically to assist with upkeep of community activity levels, and to meet new comrades. A community that closes recruitment can be doomed to stagnation. Its normal for a community to have an inner core of die hards who log in daily regardless of content releases, and also have an outer core of individuals that range from those with less availability to those who check in during Patches. This is why we take extra care in keeping the fresh blood flowing into Azure, cautious recruitment, and support our active model by always staying welcoming and sometimes running recruitment campaigns and other services. Handling Online Drama
Because we keep a no-drama policy and have a strong communication network, it is leadership's ultimate priority to handle any issues that may come up as soon as possible, and most people appreciate our problem solving which has inspired many other communities. Between our Support & Leadership ranks, we use a number of report and resource channels to handle situations, and perform problem solving protocols & tactics to fairly address issues as possible. Drama is inevitable at some point for any online community, so its important to have a large and strong list of moderators (currently around 60!) and a council of leaders (15+) to quickly handle any problems. Luckily, we don't have a lot of drama, but we're always very well equipped and very prepared. Our community has been commended by game staff in the past for our methods, and we have worked with the FFXIV Special Task Force to ensure as much safety to our community as achievable. It should be stressed that it is up to our membership to report to GM's in-game, and to Azure Leadership should any issues or concerns come up. Its also highly recommended that our members appropriately document evidence that can be used to help us assess situations and make proper decisions. Documenation such as screenshots of harassment is a great example! Our members online safety is greatly important to us and is a number one concern of our leadership team. Estate Organization
We have the entire set-up at our estate, from gardens for members and Krakka Root production (free for members' chocobos), to our stables, nicely uniform clean lawn with hangout spots that are popular, with crafting stations, all available NPCs for simple mats and repairs, cut-scene viewer, toybox, triple-triad board, a fully operational and geared fleet of airships and subs, and our Azure Infinitum Assembly Chamber on the top floor for our meetings where announcements are made at our Grand Assemblies. We also have an organized form of gathering for weekly events in the yard, places to relax, food that is always available on tables at our Cellar, and hold a lot of special events and social games at our Hall. We're also conveniently located next to a Market Board and a Retainer Bell outside of our estate.

We have multiple services of which none are mandatory, but we provide being (azureinfinitum.com) where our Forums, Event Calendar, News, Company Meeting Summaries, Seasonal Merch Giveaways, Contests, Rules Page, and more take place and can be found. We also have a popular and active Discord Server.

This network ensures a lot of information and communication gets around and has been exceedingly useful to us.

One part of our reputation that often precedes us is our event crafting and hosting.
First, let me make sure its clear that attendance is never mandatory, but those who can make use, when possible, of what we provide each day, benefit from our events each week.
Since our beginning, traditions like our Thursday Treasure Thursdays events have run each week. Our weekly line-up presently begins on Tuesdays post-weekly reset, and consists of Raid Tuesdays, Wondrous Wednesdays (WT Journal Parties, often doubles as Trial Clears and Pony Drops), Treasure Thursdays (Endwalker's timeworn maps with groups of 8 doing up to 3 rounds of maps allowing for up to 24 maps ran), 24-Man Tuesdays (full pre-formed Azure 24-member alliances are made and raids are cleared, will be returning upon the release of EW's 24-man), Super Azure Slayer Sunday (our weekly meetup to do all sorts of PVP content be it Rival Wings or Frontline), and Monstrous Mondays (helps clear the current and previous patch extreme trials).

We also have what we call Special and Quarterly Events. These types of events are Weekend-Long-Events that usually consist of a theme or celebratory social events we craft. During these events we hold big Riddle Races, Costume/Glamour shows and contests, 3-Story Mansion Maze Races, Speedrun Dungeon Races, Hide and Seek games, Custom Quest Events, Discord events like Cards Against Humanity nights, Comedy events, PVP Tournament Circuits, and more.
Our Special and Quarterly events are Azure Day Weekend (Takes place 3 times a year across a weekend, celebrates the FC), Azure Summer Festival (3-days at the end of August in partnership with Child's Play, raises money for children in long-term care, anniversary of historic FC event called the Lunar Rebellion), Anniversary Azure Day (a big weekend event in November that celebrates our Founding), Azure Day Saint's Wake (celebrates Halloween/All Saint's Wake), Azure Starlight Day (celebrating Starlight Day/Christmas/December Holiday Season), Azure Grand Melee and Duel Tournaments (PVP Circuit series crowning our PVP Champions) and more.

If you've been around our server you may have heard of our Azure Day Weekends. Our Azure Days take place quarterly as mentioned just above, with four evolved editions called Azure Summer Festival, Azure Day Saint's Wake, Azure Starlight Day, and Anniversary Azure Day. With Azure Day Weekends and related events traditionally occuring quarterly our members are always excited to see the next big weekend of crazy and fun social games, and our showering of the free company in gil and prizes galore. We go all out when we celebrate the free company, and Azure Days are another way we find for leadership to give back to the community. 2023 and beyond is now host to additional seasonal Azure Day events!
We're always giving our members a chance to have fun, win big, and make some great memories in the in-game family we've become. Something fun is always on the horizon in Azure.
Community
I almost can't stress enough how friendly our community is. We have a vast variety of members from hardcore gatherers and crafters, social butterflies, chill veterans, experienced raiders, level grinders, support teams, PVP aficionados, mechanic specialists, and mentors. We're also very friendly to all casual players as well and we keep an open door so long as recruits are always aware that we have a no-drama tolerance here.
Evolution into a Gaming Clan & Network
Plans are in the works and foundations are being laid that is slowly turning our community into a larger gaming network, with our first established Azure Wing with regular occurring activity being founded in Monster Hunter World, this has led to a successful Destiny 2 clan and more. Becoming a member of our Discord and/or Free Company now means access to things like our huge discord, Azure Wing membership in other games, and being able to join in on any of our other activities in the general community. Azure Network as its being called at the moment, is growing with an all-new website and community features for playing together across Final Fantasy XIV and to Azure Skies beyond!
Activity
We rank high as one of the top FC's in Worldwide Activity on lodestone, and have for a long time. Most of our players are divided between the US East and West Coasts, members in East and West Canada, and a few outside the US or in EU or Aus zones. Because we do have an activity policy (mentioned below) we keep a standard flow of people, and have crowds in the early morning, late morning, early afternoon, afternoon, evening, and late night crowds.
Elitism isn't our style. Our community boasts a broad range of characters, great personalities, the proud, and also some silly goofs. But elitism isn't welcome, no matter how successful we are or how large we grow. We're always welcoming towards fresh faces interested in joining our guild, and the in-game activity ranges between 30-60+ online at once during prime time hours, sometimes around 70+ on patch days, and usually always with half the roster logging in throughout a 24 hour period, and around 15-30+ during the night.
Activity Policy
We ask that our members do not go missing without logging in for more than 60 days straight. If we hear word from someone or have some kind of decent excuse, we place our members on our On Vacation rank, which lasts presently until 90 days have passed. Exceptions are made for military deployments, hospital stays, financial issues, disability/health related issues, moving, or other reasons that might fall on a case-by-case basis.
All members not heard from in 60 days (roughly 2 months) or currently 90 days (roughly 3 months) are discharged. We allow 3 joins to Azure Infinitum in total, but exceptions can be made due to reasons listed above. If removed for inactivity, or you've left our FC for another reason and haven't already joined 3 times, you're always welcome back, but please remember, we are not a revolving door.
Keeping our roster full of members who have been online and presently play the game actively ensures an active environment for our players who play often. It also keeps our credits and clerical processes balanced across our network, and allows space for new faces to join our big happy in-game family of comrades.

Hi everyone!
I’m rewatching and have quite the excel workbook going.
I think the most important validations are:
- The symbol (Jade/Christopher’s) is a map. (I made an earlier post about this.) Source: when Tab and Ethan go to drop Off the belongings of Frank, Lauren, and Meagen… Ethan says: “But for the lonely dragon, all the stuff was treasure. And guess what. In one of the big piles of stuff, there was a map of the rainbow sky” Later… Jade discovers his symbol- the one I am sure represents a map somehow. Whether it’s the shape of the land (Victors side island drawing) or the trees moving or the line’s intersecting to create “the lake of tears”. The symbol is a map.
Side note; 8 is very important number in this story. Spiders have 8 legs (spider references all over, 8 is the number of push outs in the map, father Khatri is sitting in a circle of 8 stones where he buried his secret, 8 directions on a map (n, s, e w, and the four between).
- Father Khatri is an UNRELIABLE NARRATOR he advocated for frank to be put in the box, then thinks Sara should be spared (without her telling him of the voices) and makes references to NO BOOKS OF THE BIBLE in town (see screenshot). While it may not be a Bible there are books of Bible stories in town.
- Root cellar- much much more to be found there. Jade sees symbol on ceiling after seeing a person crushed by a round boulder (stone that falls In caverns?), Victor hid there from Christopher to find everyone dead when he came out, Ballerina comes out from there with the visions…
- In Universe “Creelmans Cola”… it’s everywhere. The school (hospital), gas station (bar) inside and out, it’s everywhere.
Quick google- Creelman started a company for non soda soda- it is basically juice and seltzer. Interestingly- the Mathew’s were drinking strawberry bubbly and grapefruit bubbly in the RV. I noticed bc I don’t drink soda. In real life a man named Creelman started the Spindrift sodas (juice and bubbly water- healthy soda, not really soda)… but I think there’s something to the fact that all the other advertising is generic. I can post pics.
Just doing my first rewatch… let me Know what you think… and if anyone wants my ridiculous excel workbook lol.

So Google used to have "my maps" where you could create POIs and save/share that map. Of course they've now discontinued the app for Android. Google Earth won't let me create/edit projects either. Is there such a thing as a map application I can use on my phone, which I can then export/import the data to a Google my maps or Google Earth file?

Queremos ir con unos amigos en Noviembre, cuando la temporada de verano comience pero estábamos pensando quedarnos en Uspallata y después partir para el Parque Provincial Aconcagua temprano por la mañana, Google maps marca ~75 km de recorrido y alrededor de 1 hora y media manejando por lo que me parece factible. Hago la pregunta para saber que opina la gente de la zona, ¿alguna recomendación?
Y aprovecho para añadir, ¿sería factible quedarse en en Mendoza, donde habría mas opciones de alojamiento? ¿funciona Airbnb en Argentina o también se fue a la mierda por el tema de la inflación y el dólar?, gracias desde ya

From comedy to drama. Traveling steed to vehicle. Land to sky to underwater to other world. And back again. These constant switch ups aren't particularly unique in the genre. But I think the glue that makes them work in FFV is that the player is never made to stay too long with any one thing. They're given just enough time to process something before the game lobs another ball in their direction. This also applies to the challenges and options provided throughout. From dungeons with their own hazards and constraints the party has to work within, to bosses that have different gimmicks to figure out and pay attention to beyond mitigation + steady damage dealing.
This is best exemplified early on with the party needing to escape the destruction of a castle. The player is given 10 minutes, but this is generous for getting from the starting point to in the clear. The real challenge comes from how many of the castle's previously sealed off treasures the player can pilfer before meeting a fiery end. Almost all of the chests these goodies lie in are guarded by monsters who can teach you some early blue spells so long as the AI decides to throw said spells at you in a reasonable amount of time, and the right conditions are met. But the player can also come away with a generous AP payout, the more of these encounters they're able to fit within the time limit.
This is in contrast with overworld encounters, which typically give less AP for learning the game's many jobs. They can be grinded. And there are small, specific spots around the map for that purpose. But it's far better to keep it pushing to the next location where you can gain both story and character progression. Instead, these stretches are best served for dipping your toe in the water with new jobs, or getting a grasp of how different skillsets can synergize.
In that regard, the game's many resourceless skills and jobs provide both balance and variation. They can be incredibly powerful with no cost, or they can just as easily waste a turn depending on the roll of the dice. You don't have to use them, but they can supplement more stable staples--- your white mage, black mage, magic knight, until they get their best spells, or the more flashy casters like summoner or blue mage until they have a comfortable mana pool to work with for each outing.
And with the game's job system, nothing is truly wasted. Sure, there are crutch options like monk that get phased out, and others like dancer and bard that feel niche and novelty. But what they all can potentially pass on, either in stats or traits, justify the time spent playing with them. Truly, it's not a difficult game. Even without, but especially with the multitude of ways to break it wide open. I just think it's a joyous example of the spirit of experimentation. There's always a foundation you're building.
And like, who doesn't want to see Bartz or Faris walk over to that pub organ piano to try their hand at it. Today, they'll plink away at a couple basic exercises. Tomorrow, those maestro mani will have mastered Mozart!

I've read quite a few posts on here about how people can't just play games anymore. Take a game like Fallout New Vegas for example where the whole game is a series of choices. There are countless posts where people ask like "what will choosing to do this do?" The only time I do that is if I am on a replay and want to just mess around and explore the other routes. I've probably played New Vegas like 10+ times so I'll stop and google stuff on my playthroughs now. But that feeling of the choice being yours and just making the decision you think is right at the time. It's kind of the point of the choice. You deal with and live with whatever the choice was. The idea of googling a step by step map of how to get the "good" ending of a game ruins a whole game for me.
I was with a friend recently and he was playing video games. Every 30 or so minutes he would pause the game and go on his phone and google the outcomes of each result. It just seems terrible and immersion breaking to me. Just wondering what you patient gamers think about this

Hello! Two of my friends and I are currently looking for another player for a homebrew campaign I've been running. We play every other weekend on Sunday or Saturday (usually Sunday) at 2pm EDT on Discord. We plan our next session at the end of every session. Sessions usually last ~4 hours. We are an all-queer group. New players are welcome.
About the Party
My name is Gavin and my pronouns are they/them and I'm the DM. I'm fairly new at DMing, but I've been playing DnD for over 2 years now. I'm a big rules nerd but I tend to favor the Rule of Cool.
Players:
- River (they/them) plays Harry Cox (he/they), a copper dragonborn rangefighter multiclass who uses a heavy crossbow and excels at tracking and hunting monsters.
- Helene (she/they) plays Ariax Dapperling (he/they), an aasimar wild magic sorcerer who gets his powers from the spores of a giant divine mushroom located near his hometown and enjoys crafting weird potions/poisons.
Don't worry about party balance. If the party is struggling with healing, there's health potions for that. If the party is struggling with doing enough damage, there's magic weapons for that. Play whatever kind of character will be fun for you :)
About the Campaign
We are playing in a homebrew world I made with its own pantheon of gods. The world, Oberron, is roughly split into different city-states. You can find a google doc with info about the gods
here. There is a lore channel in the discord with maps for the world and more lore. I continue to worldbuild as the campaign goes on.
Lately, in the world of Oberron, monsters have been popping up all over the planet, terrorizing the inhabitants of the world. Where are these monsters coming from and how will the world defend itself from their onslaught?
A copper dragonborn from Kangto set off on a journey hunting these strange creatures after one of them ravaged his hometown. On his journey, he came across a village that had been terrorized by chicken-like creatures who could turn people into stone. He and a local tracked the creatures to a cave and, with some help, exterminated them and some strange hamsters they were with. Upon searching the cave the party found books written in sylvan detailing transmutation experiments and a map of the world with three glowing dots of red light, one of which was right at the spot they stood, and they watched as the dot marking the cave faded and disappeared.
They are now on a mission traveling to these spots and fighting new monsters, battling strange new creatures and, sometimes, fairies.
Will you join our heroes and protect the people of this world?
The party is currently level 4 and I plan on level-ups happening every 3 or 4 sessions. I plan on the campaign lasting until around level 15. I like to play in worlds with a lot of magic, so it will be common for NPCs to have at least some low-level magical abilities and magic items won't be super rare. I also like to make homebrew magic items specifically tailored for my players. We are using theater of the mind for our sessions. There is potential for inter-planar travel in this campaign as well as venturing into the underdark if that's something that interests you. There is a new monster every session or two, with an overarching villain that will become more obvious as the campaign goes on, and this will eventually lead to an epic ending to the campaign. If you've ever seen Supernatural, this campaign's structure is similar to that (though not intentionally lol).
This campaign setting is free of homophobia, racism, transphobia, misogyny, etc. I have no interest in playing these things, tension and conflict comes from other places. There will be no pvp without enthusiastic consent from all parties (including stealing from other PCs). I also have a consent-in-gaming form for you to fill out if you end up joining our group.
Next Session
Our next session is on Sunday, June 11th, at 2pm EDT. I am hoping to have our new player join that session for a Pride one-shot to meet the party and get a chance to play with the group before continuing the main campaign. This should give you a few weeks to build your character for the main campaign.
For the one-shot, make a level 11 character that is part of the wedding party of two brides. You can choose 1 rare magic item and 1 uncommon magic item (or you could choose items of lower rarity).
Building Your Character
When you build your character you have access to all official content and, with permission, any homebrew or UA content. I also have things I've homebrewed that are available, including a race of mushroom people called the
boletarii and four sorcerer subclasses I'm currently working on. The sorcerer subclasses are meant to be for descendants of four of the five original gods in my world. They are fire/sun, knowledge/sky, earth/forge, and watechaos. Stats will be rolled in Discord by the usual 4d6 drop the lowest method. If your stat total is below 75, then you can re-roll if you want. HP will also be rolled on Discord. You also can modify your racial ability modifiers to be a +2 in one stat and a +1 in another, or a +1 in three different stats, like WOTC's recently released races. You can choose one uncommon magical item or we can work together to homebrew one for your character.
Homerules
- You can cast more than one leveled spell in a turn (e.g. if you use your action to cast fireball, you can still use your bonus action to cast misty step)
- A spell scroll can be used by anybody no matter their class
- Death saving throws will be made for all NPCs and most villains (at least humanoid ones)
