2023.06.05 05:37 Theorpo I Got Rejected for the first time. (And a little more stuff from today)

When I saw posts here. I really wanted to have a happy situation to tell. But as of 3 1/2 hours ago I got rejected. I'll start top to bottom of my day. But first Backstory. I've been loving the heck out of this girl since 7th grade and we are now sophomores. At the Beginning of Freshman year, I asked my friend who did have her number If I could have it. (I could at that point never have done it myself.) Finally last day of Freshman year I texted here saying
"Hey -----! This is ----, I got your number from a friend. Just wanted to say Hello! We've been waving in the hallway and such all year. But how's life going? How have you been doing this year? Anyways just saying hi right now and I hope to see you next year!"
I sent this May 26th and didn't get a response and I decided to make sure I had the right number even
Hey! it's me ----. Is this -----'s phone number? Just wondering.
Then about 4 hours ago I got a response finally.
Sorry, wrong number. Please stop texting this number.
My heart sank. I truly was in denial I went to my friend that gave me the number and I asked him Did I get the right number like is that ----- -----------'s number? and he said
"Yes it is."
And I just broke down crying I haven't done anything but sit in silence I don't think I've said a single word accept insulting myself while crying. I have been building up this day and putting many things of my very small attention size due to ADHD to the side for this and I'm just defeated... I don't know what to do. What doesn't help is that earlier today I put down my dog that has been in the family for 14 years (he was a 19 year old Labrador) I've known him all my life and I've put that guy down. I've known this girl since pre school and this relationship Is either put down or will never be the same. Idk what to do. I have nothing to support mey mom can't drive me to counseling and I will be working this year my family hasn't had a job in 7 years now so I have been carrying this household family friends bring me to the store and I grab items and soon that's gone cause I will have to drive. I'm crying and I don't know what to do. I need something out there I've got no one.

This morning, I found $.55 spendable and a beat up steely. I had to go back to the same store this evening and I find this. Of course, the Buffalo is the most interesting. I had never seen this eagle design before. A bit of searching in the Google showed that it is a Hobo Nickel that was made by an artist and not the US Mint. I had never seen anything like it before. It is beautiful.

2023.06.05 05:34 shyguylh Rant Over Bad Day (Cashier Gardening), But Also A Useful Workaround

Today was a bad day, starting with my mistakenly wearing my house slippers (closed toes) instead of my normal work shoes, which resulted in horrible foot pain.
Then there was the customer with enough plants for the Biltmore Estate and he thought all of them were half off, but 3 out of 40 weren't, and he thought I was supposed to go through and find them (impossible when you have that many and they don't stand out on the screen) and when I said "the only way I can be sure is to rering everything all over again and besides some of them aren't marked down" and he flat out said to do so that he didn't care how long the line was, I told him "I'm going to have to skip you and come back later, I can't have the whole line waiting over 3 plants."
The worst perhaps was this situation where I rung up probably 34 items only to see that very few of them actually scanned because it became stuck on a tricky item and unlike other places where the scan sound changes and alerts you, Lowe's doesn't so you don't know unless you watch every item as you scan, and I flat out refuse to do that because it's too busy and I'm not walking all the way from the flat bed to the screen with every single item as I scan it. That's way too inconvenient and tedious. I became so angry I turned the machine off and kept turning it off again numerous times to where it was probably 10-15 min before I was ready to resume, and people left the store. In my mind, if you can't work properly and have the damn sense to change the scan sound from "beep" to "dee doo" so I know immediately something is wrong, then we might as well just eff up everything else while we're at it.
Now for the useful workaround.
I hate it that you can't quickly mark a plant as distressed with the scanner gun, and that it doesn't show on the screen to where you can easily see it. When you try and go back to the screen to mark them, you can't tell where you've been because there are no obvious flags on the screen such as a symbol or by changing the color of the row.
My fix: using the gun I add 9+ to the quantity, so I can mark it with the gun vs having to walk back every time, and so when changing multiple line items I can see my place easily because the large quantities make it obvious. Thus, if it's 1 distressed plant, I mark it 91. If it's 4, I mark it 94. If it's 36, I mark it 936. I simply go back when I'm done and remove the 9 from the quantity, and with the large dollar amounts it's really obvious which ones to override, you don't lose your place.
I appreciate your listening to me vent, and maybe my workaround can help some of you.

I usually find them in my carpet underneath dressers and other furniture. But recently found a bunch hiding in clothes I had stored away on a closet shelf 🤮 I’ve tried a zillion carpet beetle remedies to no avail, about to rip it all away and get hardwood in the bedrooms. We even hired a pest company for a spider problem and they spray for all household pests every 3 months and apparently whatever these are are immune to it. Extremely slow moving.

2023.06.05 05:32 Aggressive-Luck-7775 Dollar Tree cashier so worried I was going to yell at her about $5 items.

I took my great nieces and nephew to the Dollar Tree for coloring books and colored pencils. The kids found some toys and I let them pick out a few each. I didn't realize that DT now carries $5 items. So we are checking out and the cashier timidly says, "Um this is $5, do you still want it?" I look at the item and see clearly the $5 sticker. I was a tad shocked but after quickly glancing at the kids I just shrugged and said, " Yes I will still buy it. I should have seen the price." Well each of the kids had picked out a $5 toy. And each one she nervously asked if I still wanted them. I said," Yes, please." After the 3rd toy I said, "Don't worry, I'm not going to get angry at you because I know you don't set the prices." She audibly exhaled and said "Thank you". The store had only been opened a few hours that morning and this incredibly sweet and visibly stressed young person looked as though she had already taken a weeks worth of abuse from customers that morning. I was able to get a heartfelt(?) laugh out of her when she asked if I wanted my receipt and I said, "No thank you, it might make me cry." But what really makes me cry is the way human beings are treated so horribly every single day. I often see the fear in the eyes of cashiers as I approach them because I am a middle aged white woman, and I worry a lot so I look angry I think. I constantly see people visibly exhale when they realize that I'm not an entitled a*****e. And I will apologize for being a stupid customer. Because I am. I mean the $5 price tags were big enough for my old eyes to see and still missed them. So just a shout out to everyone who has to deal with human trash everyday, my heart goes out to you and I hope you know are better humans than those who treat you terribly.

I have been a huge fan of Pokémon since the original episode aired. I play the Video games, TCG, and have a collection that expands a good amount. I got out of collecting years ago to focus solely on another Collectible card game that I had been invested in competitively, but decided I would quit for reasons. It also didn't help that as a child I didn't know the value of my cards. I picked up again during the HGSS sets all the way to the BW sets last release of "Legendary Treasures" but due to the pandemic, I had to sell a large portion of my collection. I was able to pick up again after the Sun and Moon Tag Team sets and have been building a collection since. I am now thinking about keeping Holo Rares moving forward but am unsure if that's necessary. I collect WoTC cards too and know those Holo and promo's are worth keeping of course. I also collect alt arts, V, VMAX, EX, GX, LV. X, shiny vault, radiant, ⭐, etc by default and special reprints like the Celebrations set. The only dilemma is I feel like I have a large gap of missing Holo Rares/Reverse-Holo Rares from Sun and Moon sets up till now as I usually donate, add to decks with what I need, or trade them to my friends/local game store for credits. I would only keep 1 of each so not a ton to collect but the gap is what's bothering me. What would you do?

My store's freezer door has been kind of broken for a LONG time, and one of our employees has actually been trapped inside recently! Fortunately someone else happened to go down there before they were stuck for too long. Personally I have been propping a broom in front of the door to stop it from closing when I go inside.
I want to hope this wouldn't happen at a McDonald's, but... 😰

I don't think I like the filter that came with it, so I am browsing Amazon for a sponge filter.
Am I doing ok so far? I've only ever owned guinea pigs, so if there's something you see in this tank that makes you think, "oh hell no", please let me know.

I currently use a Nux Loop Core Deluxe to play pre-recorded stuff on stage, like ambient background noise and classical string tracks that I play over live. This is my first loop pedal and I do not use it traditionally. I only store pre-recorded wav files on there from my computer and don't make use of the actual loop/recording function (and don't need to).
Here's my situation: I need to be able to switch up to the next pre-loaded "track" in one fell swoop, with one tap of the footswitch. My existing pedal will stop the existing track or toggle to the next track up, but it won't actually play the next track until the current one is finished playing. I need to be able to interrupt the currently playing track and immediately jump to the next track up... again, with one tap of the footswitch.
Wish I could program something to send 3 commands immediately via footswitch: 1) Stop current track, 2) Load up next track, 3) Start playing that track.
Would love to hear your recommendations. I don't have much experience in looper pedals so if there's a looper out there that does that, I would love to hear about it. Or a non-looper pedal that will just play my pre-recorded tracks. Again, I don't need the actual looper function. Just need to play wav files by footswitch. Thanks in advance!
