2023.06.10 23:02 bbitters Is this true?
Is it true is a bag of soil, mulch, or rocks are “damaged” Home Depot will sell the products for a discounted price? Someone said a bag of rocks with a hole in it will be sold at a discount. The store wouldn’t be able to sell it. This is there way of selling the damaged product. If this is true. Is there a set discounted price? I had to ask if this is true or not. Thank you in advance.

Did you know we sell carlifts? I didn't until my dad bought one and had it bootleged up here. Fun fact, this was the largest item and oddest item our receiving team has ever gotten.

2023.06.10 22:42 talldean New bathroom remodel, exhaust fan no bueno
Had my bathroom redone. The exhaust fan is a Panasonic FV-0511VF1; no humidity sensor, just a fan. The wall timer is also new, whatever the nice one was at Home Depot.
I take a shower, turn on the exhaust, and it spins up for like 10-15 seconds, then shuts down fully for 10-15 seconds, then repeats, and repeats, and repeats. If I look out the window and up, when it's running, the louvers on the vent move up; air is actually moving out, so that worked.
The timer doesn't seem to count down correctly while it's doing this, so it may go for 2-3 hours like this.
Wondering if it's likely the fan (miswired?) or the wall switch (bad switch?)
Any ideas?

Any other recommendations where to buy trichos in the bay would be nice too. I've been trying to find Altman's PC at home depots but so far no luck. Thanks!

2023.06.10 22:10 Vulture_sosunny Stubborn Misogynist Cust. Vs. Knowledgeable Female HC
Nothing cracks me up more than customers who come in and refuse to work with me because of my gender. I’m a female head cashier, most of the front end management team at our store consists of women. Never mind that I’m the one running the shift, we have a few regulars that despise working with the women and always opt for male cashiers, regardless of how new / inexperienced they may be. Last week I had a customer come in and ask one of my newer [male] cashiers about our return policy regarding plants. This cashier does a great job and he’s an absolute sweetheart, but he was stumped and pointed the customer in my direction. I was standing by the pro desk with one of the male associates. We were chatting when the customer approached us. For context, I am 5’4”, and this pro associate was well over six feet. I was also in between the customer and the pro associate.
Cust. : “Hello sir, I have a question for you.” The customer didn’t look at me at all, and was looking above me past my head at the pro associate.
Pro : “Hello.”
Me : “Hello sir.”
Cust. : “So I have these plants at home I need to bring in to swap out or get my money back, I just wanted to know what your policy was?”
Pro : “Ah, well,” the associate looks towards me.
I launch into an explanation with the customer, who still does not look at me and only the pro associate, about how our return policy on plants works and how he can go about it easiest. Before I worked as a head cashier I was a service desk rep. I know our return policies well, so it’s not uncommon for the cashiers to turn customers my way for specifics. After I have explained, the customer smiles and looks back to the pro associate. “Thank you sir, have a nice day.” And leaves.
… WHAT?? The pro associate and I looked at each other and launched into conversation on how disrespectful the customer was, and how he was definitely sexist.
Another great day at Home Depot. 🥲 I hope all of his plants die and his return gets denied.

2023.06.10 22:05 Fluffy_Cupcake180 Do I need to stuff this with copper wool before blocking it off with a metal plate?
| I'm thinking that I can buy the sub-$1 step flashing from Home Depot, cut it down to size/shape and putting it in the hole. But do I need to stuff the hole with something beforehand? Birds are nesting in there (will wait until they leave) submitted by Fluffy_Cupcake180 to Home [link] [comments] |
2023.06.10 21:59 THDThrowaway19340823 June 2023: Do those of you with years of Home Depot experience feel like Home Depot is legitimately starting to go downhill?
I am wondering if anyone else here is feeling similar to how I am feeling based on recent trends after nearly eight years of Home Depot experience between two stores.
It seems as if Department Supervisors are stretched thinner than ever before, as if the new hiring process (even if well-intentioned) is creating even more issues with call-outs and turnover, and that the wages being offered by Home Depot are not keeping it competitive with other employers (especially when considering the level of stress of many positions within HD). Also, now that the dust has started to settle on the Store Leadership (Re-)Structuring (SLS), it does not seem like it made the stores run any better.
(Before I get replies advising me to find another job if I do not like it, Home Depot is a second, part-time job for me supplementing the income from my full-time career and given that my current wage at HD is above what a lot of competitors offer for starting pay in my area, I am not likely to go elsewhere unless circumstances really force my hand.)
What are the thoughts of some of the other long-term Home Depot employees here?

Is there a fencing supply store that sells to the public? Alko used to, but they only sell to contractors now and Lowe’s and Home Depot are pricey. Close to $30/post. Also I’m looking for swedged chain link fence post extensions if anyone has tips on those. Thanks and TTFN.

2023.06.10 21:23 blinksviolently mini associate made my day
This sub is always filled with negativity so I thought i’d brighten up your day by telling this wholesome little story.
We had a kids work shop today and the store was filled with little kids and parents eager to build a mini bean toss game. We were also in a big rush because of the start of the season. The store was really busy and it was absolute hell. Imagine the combination of Karens and Kevins yelling at every associate in sight because we don’t have a specific tool set, and little monsters running everywhere with paint all over their hands.
This little guy, about 10 or 11, had just finished the kids workshop and was proudly showing off his mini apron as his mom finished her shopping. She came to the service desk to inquire about our delivery services and rental options. Her kid was so curious about everything, I let him see what was going on on my screen and scan the items his mom wanted to get delivered. We then went to the back to put her cart with the delivery stuff and stage it, I let him handle the phone and explained how everything worked (with his mom and my boss’ permission of course).
He kept looking for everywhere with the brightest look on his face and was asking so many questions. His mom looked like she appreciated the break (honestly with such a curious mind with me 24/7 I’d enjoy it too). I asked her if I could show him some other departments so I could answer more questions and she gladly accepted. We learned how to colour and mix paint, cut wires, water plants, use the wood saw and much more. Everyone in the store was glad to help out and show him how we work at home depot and it’s not like we were taking time out of anyone’s day, we were just watching as the other associates explained what they were doing.
We finished our visit in front of the break room and my boss came out just in time for the little guy to ask him when he could start working at our store.
We unfortunately had to break the news that he still had to wait a few years and he just said “Oh that’s fine! I have 5 years to get big and strong now! There’s no way i’d be able to carry all this stuff with these noodle arms.” We all laughed and my boss walked in the office to get him a homer badge and a HD shirt from a box of extras.
He walked out of the store with a huge smile on his face and was telling his mom everything he saw and did. It was adorable.
He honestly made everyone’s day and it was awesome. We often have little kids ask questions and wanting to see how everything works and I just love it.
Thanks little man

2023.06.10 21:22 lol_haha1234 am i the only one?
my husband was telling me a story as we were browsing through the aisles of home depot this morning.i glanced over at him & noticed the excitement & passion in his voice- for a moment, i felt like time stopped & an overwhelming burst of emotions took over my mind & body. i was paused in time just observing him & thought to myself , “my gosh, i love this man so much & i’m so grateful to be here in this moment right now.” my lip started to curl & my eyes started to fill with tears - IN THE MIDDLE OF HOME DEPOT!!! i felt embarrassed & turned my head away & played it off, without him or bystanders seeing me.
does this happen to anyone else? and if so- do you share that moment with your SO? do you think i should’ve shared that moment of appreciation with him? i feel like he would’ve been scared or confused lol. how would you feel if your SO did something like that?
context: - its not always easy for me to show (certain types) of vulnerability & emotions, but something i am actively working on. i also don’t often cry (which is why i thought maybe he would be scared or confused)
- i feel like my mind is always “on the go” - always rushing & thinking about what’s next. having that moment felt special to me.
