2023.06.09 17:32 StrunkF10 Property Line Dispute
I have a neighbor who we have lived harmoniously beside for 5 years but in the last year they have gone absolutely bonkers. They are contesting property lines, spraying neighboring dogs with hoses, honking car horns at children, etc. I am unfortunate enough to share a property line with them and am trying to get ahead of this. My fence is (I think) completely on the line or inside the property line but there is one section I am concerned about. A tree that has matured seems to have potentially pushed a fence post across what I think is the property line.
I'm not going to get a survey and invite the scrutiny but I did have some questions. The fence is at least 27 years old but I am working to get that confirmed right now. The fence was existing when I purchased the home and was also existing when our neighbor purchased the home. Hypothetically speaking, if this neighbor came to me and argued the fence was in their property and wanted to go to court over it...would I have a leg to stand on?

2023.06.09 17:29 artamuck 31 [F4M/R] TX/ANYWHERE
So I've posted before with moderate success so I thought I'd try again. I'm not great at starting this shit so I'll just jump straight in.
I'm currently partnered in a non hierarchical relationship. I enjoy connecting with different people and the work it takes to build a relationship. I'm not super picky about another person's setup as long as it's ethical. If you're just wanting a chat buddy then I'd appreciate at least being told that since that's not the end goal for me. I'm happy to talk but ultimately want someone I can spend time with.
A bit about me. I'm very sarcastic and feisty. I value openness and honesty above just about anything. I swear too much and use a fuckton of lols and emojis when texting. I love my dogs and tolerate my cat. I believe books are pretty much always better than the movie. I enjoy music, and art, and a variety of things to keep my hands busy. I'm 5'4" and prefer to dress more on the alt side of things in case that's not your thing. I have 2 tattoos and want several more.
Not that sex is the most important thing but it is a relevant and important part of a relationship for me. I am a brat and don't easily submit. I'm playful in and out of the bedroom and enjoy some kink. That doesn't necessarily have to be an active part with everyone but someone willing to play in a compatible way is part of what I'm looking for.
I have a soft spot for beards and tattoos and appreciate when my partner is tall enough that I can wear heels and not look down lol. I prefer people who are on the masculine side. It's extremely rare that I hit it off with people younger than me so somewhere between 30-40 or so is what I prefer. The chat function is my preference, I don't really like responding to comments. If you're interested send me a message. Thanks for reading!

2023.06.09 17:21 CommanderAuri Searching for a longterm partner! Prompts listed below
Hi there! Name’s Auri and I’m a 28F. I’ve been rping for roughly 10+ years now and am searching around for another partner for a thread or two. I'm not replacing anyone!
General overview:
- All characters are 18+
- I’m not into doing smut or adult content. If we ever do get to that point in a thread, I would like for us to fade to black if at all possible. It's just a personal preference of mine.
- I would like for my partner to be at least 23+ or close to my age. No minors please
- I don't mind doubling!
- I can forward over whatever character info necessary on my OC(s)
- As far as posting frequency goes, I'm pretty okay with it being every other day, every few days or, if necessary, once or twice a week. Just let me know! I do have a full time weekday job so replies during the week may be a bit slow!
- I do write at least three to five paragraphs minimum and write third person past tense and at least 2k words plus. I'm more of a novella writer! Not all of my responses will be novella length
- I prefer to use Discord if at all possible
- I don't expect you to match my post length every response but please do not send out one word or one sentence replies
- I'm stating this here: my starter replies are rather lengthy. It is merely to set up the scene. Not all of my responses will be like that. As stated above, at minimum my replies will be three to five paragraphs but that does vary depending on the scenario, what character(s) are doing, etc.
- As I mentioned previously I do not expect you to match my post length and please do not feel intimidated! I'm here to have fun as much as you are
- If you feel uncomfortable at any point during the RP, please let me know. I can't do anything if you don't voice your concerns. Also if you have no intention of continuing past the starter phase, please do not contact me
- I definitely don't mind if romance is involved as long as our characters have chemistry (MxF and FxF ships are okay with me for our OCs!)
- Please be knowledgeable of any of the game(s) listed below
- I will not respond to messages like "Heyyy", "Wanna Rp?" or low effort chats requests like this. Please either interact with this post with the required info or DM me
- Let me know if you are within the age range specified above as well as a little about yourself. Specify which prompt(s) interest you in your message as well!
- Thank you for reading!
Prompt idea:
*Mass Effect 2 or 3: I created an original elemental race/character to use in the Mass Effect universe. This could take place during the second game and start off as a recruitment mission or start off with with third game after Shepard leaves the Mars archives. For either prompt here, I would like to try and follow Shepard's crew during both games. I'm currently not looking to do anything for Mass Effect: Andromeda at the moment
- Halo: I have two ideas for this. Our characters would meet first onboard Infinity around 2558 for either idea. The first prompt would be where my character(s) and yours are enlisted to search a derelict ship orbiting a Forerunner shield world and try to determine the reason why it was abandoned. We're then forced groundside as the ship yields no results and discover just how dead silent the planet truly is and why.
The second: Our characters are assigned to a backwater colony world that's now inhabited by both humans and ex-covenant forces. Our OCs/CCs are essentially made to be a temporary peace keeping force, a supposedly easy op. After meeting up with the colony's human governor, time passes and things start seeming a bit... off. The colony world isn't what it appears to be and there's a hidden menace that we need to uncover deep below ground and stop before it's too late.

Species: Dog Age: 11.5 Sex/Neuter status: Female Spayed Breed: Pit-Boxer Body weight: 68 pounds currently was 76 History: 5/22 took her to the vet for a cough diag common cold. Returned 6/8 with no improvement. Clinical signs: Cough -- started coughing up blood 6/7 Duration: Since 5/20 or so Your general location: Alabama
Vet did "Digital Radiographs (2 view)" and determined my girl has multiple lung tumors. She has been given "weeks" to live. She was prescribed medication to boost her appetite and sent home.
My questions -- what can I feed her to make her as comfortable as possible? I remember (40 years ago) my Mom's vet recommending ground Lamb and Rice. When should we take her to the rainbow bridge? What signs of pain should I look for? She is still mobile and eating some.

2023.06.09 17:17 NosyNocturnal Need help with sick stray dog
TW: Please skip if you're not an animal lover
I have been feeding two stray dogs near my flat for about a year now. Both of them seemed young and very active, and I am assuming they're neutered coz they have chipped ears. Recently, one of the dogs has become very lethargic and stopped eating. I tried different foods but she refuses to eat anything. Mostly sleeps all day.
The other dog is active and playful as usual and eating properly. But sometimes when she gets up from sitting, I notice bit of blood on the ground.
I am concerned but not sure what to do. Anyone has any connections with volunteers from CUPA/Charlie's who can give advice?

2023.06.09 17:17 AnarZaram 29 Tips and Tricks for Adventure Mode
With the news that development of Adventure Mode for the Steam release is progressing along, I figure some people may want to download the original version to give it a try ahead of the graphics update. As someone with hundreds of hours in adventure mode (there are literally dozens of us!) I thought I would share some of the biggest tips and tricks I've learned. I'll probably be making this into a video once the official release is out and I can get footage with graphics, but until then I'm posting the script I have now here. The rest of this post contains spoilers for every phase of adventure mode, so turn back now if you want to discover all of this for yourself!
Beginner
- Always have food
-Large stacks of vegetables can be found in containers in human towns. Meat can be gathered from butchered animals. Meat from sentient creatures can’t be eaten.
2. Always have wateale
-Adventurers need to drink 3-4 times a day. Water skin only holds 3 water, so it is useless. Bags hold 40 and Backpacks hold 100 which is too heavy for most adventurers. Quivers hold 20, which is the perfect amount. Fill quivers with water at rivers or wells.
3. Equip armor
-Armor and weapons can be found in the barracks of each town. Try to get iron or steel if possible. Make sure to cover the head, neck, torso, legs, hands, and feet.
4. Get a mount
-Mounts increase overworld speed which increases the amount of ground that can be covered in one day. This reduces how frequently you need to stop for supplies.
5. Get some pets
-Companions can be tricky to recruit in the beginning, but pets are a great way to increase survivability. Unlike companions, you can also recruit a very high number of pets immediately. Everything labeled “stray” found within a town can become a pet, from ducks to dogs, and rarely even bears and elephants. Just don’t get too attached, most pets die very fast, or permanently run away after combat. Especially the small ones.
6. Make sure your character can read and swim
-Most skills can be acquired organically by actions which your adventurer does, but certain skills like reading are never unlocked. Because you need to read slabs or books to learn magic, putting a point in reading at character creation is mandatory. A few points in swimming are also recommended. Even a single tile full of water is enough to drown an adventurer with no swimming skill.
7. Make a young world for less necromancers and more Megabeasts, and an old world for vice-versa
-World parameters matter. Evil is slightly stronger on average, which means the older a world is, the more likely it is to be infested with Necromancer towers and Goblin Pits. Savagery is just the number of animal people to play as, and beasts is the number of beasts to fight. You want both of these as high as possible, the difficulty is actually easier with more beasts, as you won’t have to travel as far for missions.
8. Don’t be afraid to run if you can’t win
-Although this is technically a turn based RPG, running away isn’t a button you press, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an option. If you are heavily outnumbered or facing a very strong enemy, don’t be afraid to sprint away and reengage when it is more advantageous to do so. This is better than dying and losing your progress.
9. Don’t swim until you’ve really trained
-While it may be tempting to take a quick dip in the river, death can be moments away in any body of water. Even at competent and above levels of swimming, your character can only go about 10-20 squares before getting tired, and swimming while tired has a chance to keep your character in the same tile, further increasing their fatigue. This can mean your character drowning even just one square from the shore if you are extremely unlucky.
10. Aim for the neck/head for instant kills
-Aiming in combat can be extremely beneficial. Lots of minor enemies such as kobolds and bandits can be killed with one solid hit to the neck or head. Using this tactic can make encounters against large groups of enemies much easier.
Intermediate
11. Fast travel to long rest
-If you are damaged in battle and bleeding out, even if you are faint with mortal wounds, fast traveling via the world map will instantly heal your wounds. This may be considered a bug, but since adventurers cannot currently be healed at hospitals via adventure mode, this is the only way to actually heal. Furthermore, since you can’t fast travel during combat, and because fast traveling doesn’t remove major injuries such as missing limbs, I’d say it’s a pretty balanced feature.
12. Jog whenever possible
-Whenever not mounted and not in combat, you should set your speed to jog. This will increase your endurance stat naturally over time, increasing your combat prowess while you move around. Just be sure to reset your speed whenever your character drops to the ground from exhaustion to give them a chance to rest. Keep extra water on hand while doing this, as your character will need to drink more. And make sure not to jog into combat, this will increase your character’s chance of becoming exhausted during combat, which severely lowers stats.
13. Create a character that just wants to perform
-A focused character will always be more proficient in combat, receiving a boost to stats such as accuracy and damage. Fully customizing needs in character creation can make a character that is very easy to keep focused. You can completely remove needs in character creation if you wish, but this will also remove the chance to receive the focused buff. If anything, just be sure to avoid needs that are currently impossible in adventure mode such as “Make romance.”
14. Create a world with legendary metals for better loot
-The more metals you choose at world generation, the better the loot will be everywhere. This setting can make gearing up in the early game either extremely trivial, or extremely challenging. World age can also affect possible loot, as extremely young worlds will not have created enough armor to make most encounters have meaningful loot.
15. Tell stories of your notable kills
-Information in dwarf fortress is passed via a rumor system. No matter how many dragons you may slay, when you enter a new town, no one will care because they don’t know who you are. Every time you reach a new town, you should tell the largest group of people you can the stories of every notable encounter you’ve had. Early on you should tell stories of killing bandits, while later on you should focus on just semi-Megabeasts and Megabeasts.
16. Recruit other party members
-While animal companions are good choices for meat shields early game, you should recruit as many fighters at barracks to adventure with you as possible. The amount of companions you can have at any one time is limited by your current reputation level, which is why it is important to tell everyone you can of your notable kills. Animal companions take up companion slots even though they go over the max cap, so try to transition from lots of animals early on to a small party of adventuring companions in the midgame, and a large number of companions in the endgame. Just be sure to let your companions win some easy battles on their own to level up their skills, otherwise they will die just as easily as animals in fights against Megabeasts. Don’t be surprised if some of your companions get terrified in combat and run away just like animals. If you can, be sure to find them, as they will take up a companion slot if you don’t part ways with them or watch them die. If they die and you don’t see it, they may permanently take up a slot this way. This is a bug and will hopefully be fixed eventually, but be wary of it for now.
17. Become a hearthperson
-Starting a new character and trying to find quests can be very challenging. Lots of random characters will have various rumors, but won’t know enough details to send you on a proper quest. Lords and ladies however can make you into a hearthperson, and can then give you proper quests. They will only do this if you have enough reputation level though, which is why telling stories is important. Usually it takes a story of a bandit leader kill or higher to get a lord or lady to recruit you. You can bypass this stage and get to quests right away by choosing to start as a hearthperson. Just beware that quests are randomized, and sometimes your first quest will be to kill a megabeast. When this happens, I recommend traveling to another town and becoming hearthperson there.
18. Train your skills early
-Training skills via active combat can be very deadly. If possible, try to fight large, easy enemies to train all related combat skills as early as possible. If you find a horse for example, you can attack its legs to immobilize it, then spam nonlethal strikes to train your weapon skill. A couple horses with no legs is a brutal but safe way to train up weapons all the way to legendary.
19. Set combat preferences to facilitate training
-Skills like observation and stats like endurance are very important for late game combat. These skills in particular can be trained incredibly fast with combat preferences. If you set melee combat preferences to close quarters, this will prefer to grapple the enemy over and over again. This means you can move into the enemy repeatedly to quickly train without navigating menus. Doing this without changing preferences can mean your character automatically makes a headshot and kills the enemy before you get the chance to properly level up stats. Just be sure to move away from your legless horses if you get tired, as the lowered stats means that even low risk combat can result in injury.
20. Sneak up to enemies for stealth kills
-If you want to dispatch of large camps quickly and efficiently, chaining stealth kills can be an easy way to do this. Just press S to toggle sneaking, then try to approach enemies without walking into their cone of vision. Doing this at night can be especially effective, as enemies have greatly reduced perception.
Advanced
21. Get a slashing, piercing, and blunt weapon
-Some enemies in dwarf fortress are much easier to kill than others. Kobolds and crundles will crumple against most weapons, while things like bronze collosi are much harder to deal with. A good rule of thumb is to keep a slashing, piercing, and blunt weapon on hands at all times. Use slashing against basic targets and undead for quick decapitations, piercing against large organic creatures like giant cheetahs or rocs so that they give into pain (essentially stunlocking them), and blunt against inorganic enemies to crush them (collosi, armored titans, iron men, etc). When in doubt, keep a whip on hand to one shot most enemies. A legendary lasher with a named masterwork whip can easily one shot most things in the game with a heavy attack to the head. This should be considered a bug that will probably be fixed later, but is very fun if you want to RP as a legendary vampire killer. Regardless of weapon choice, weapon skill is equally important. A novice hammer dwarf with a steel war hammer is just as useless against a bronze colossus as a legendary axedwarf with an artifact copper battle axe.
22. Remove your backpack when starting combat
-Fighting while overencumbered is a death sentence. While fighting above default speed does not reduce the number of frames it takes to swing your weapon, fighting below default speed will add a delay after each swing before you can act again, giving enemies free strikes against you. This is also why fighting prone is ill-advised. However, this mechanic should not dissuade you from overencumbering yourself. Most mounts negate a large (if not all) amount of encumberance. In addition, your character can move anything they can grab, even if it is the entire corpse of a megabeast which weighs multiple tons, it will just take them more frames to haul these items. So long as you store all of your loot in the same backpack, you are always safe from ambushes no matter your encumbrance, as you can remove and drop your backpack as soon as combat starts, which usually takes less frames than it takes for any enemy to move. After combat, your backpack should be where you left it, and you can easily retrieve your haul.
23. Aim for the legs first, then the hands, then the neck
Aiming for the neck can make weaker enemies trivial, but more proficient enemies will not allow this tactic, and very large enemies will have necks too large to decapitate. An advanced tactic that works against most strong enemies is to aim for the legs first to knock your enemy prone (or wings against flying enemies). Once your enemy is on the ground, their speed is halved, essentially giving you twice as many turns to attack. It is at this point you should aim for their arms, as these hold weapons for humanoids and usually have claws for beasts. Once the legs are taken out and the usage of weapons is disabled, you are much more likely to land a headshot, and in a much safer position to repeatedly spam this attack.
24. Bleed out megabeasts, cut off hydra heads, pummel collosi
Certain enemies such as Megabeasts are much harder to kill. These should be considered boss fights, and thus have certain kill parameters. Bronze collosi in particular usually need to have every single body part destroyed in order to be killed. Hydras in turn need to have the brain of each head destroyed to die, and will almost always live if one head is alive. Hill titans can vary from nigh unkillable (humanoids made of steel) to killable via literally any damaging attack (blobs made of water), so reading their description is extremely important in dealing with them.
25. Never get hit (level dodge and block)
-Because major injuries are unhealable, these accumulate over time. This means that the best way to play adventure mode is to never get hit. This may seem like a tall task, but almost all damage is avoidable via dodge and block. If you have a high observation stat, you will be able to dodge or block attacks. While this may automatically succeed against weaker enemies, it has a chance to fail against stronger enemies if not properly leveled, so be sure to train these skills early on. Fighting when focused and not exhausted should ensure that these avoidance abilities work properly. Just don’t try to block an attack you wouldn’t block in real life.
26. Don’t let enemies get a surround
-Fighting against multiple enemies can be a likely death scenario. If enemies completely surround you, then your character has a greatly reduced chance of automatically dodging or blocking attacks. In addition, moving through an occupied tile in dwarf fortress will roll a die, and the losers will be forced prone, as only one creature can stand in a tile at once. Make sure to set speed to scramble in combat if this happens, get to an unoccupied square, and stand up as quickly as possible. Dodging into an open space in this scenario is a much better option than moving manually if at all possible. This entire scenario can be avoided if you slowly dodge in the same direction as enemies approach you in combat, ensuring that you only fight one at a time, and force the others to tire themselves as they run after you. Striking the legs of as many targets as possible is effective here, as it drastically increases the time it takes for each enemy to reach you.
27. Throw stones to level archery
-Archery can be very cumbersome to use, as most bolts are too heavy to use without causing constant encumbrance, and training it is very slow and painful, as arrows usually split into stacks of one when fired. However, there is a way to level archery extremely quickly. By throwing something at the same tile you are on, you level your archery skill. You can then pick up the thrown object and throw it again. This is much faster than using arrows. One of the best objects to do this with is coins. As it turns out, coins are actually the best ranged weapon. Coins can be used in combat to great affect. Because dwarf fortress uses the archery stat when throwing items, it calculates the damage of thrown items as if shot from a bow with the same archery proficiency. While this does not do nearly as much damage as bolts themselves, it effectively gives adventurers a way to reliably use ranged weapons without worrying about retrieving ammo, as money can usually be found in multiple stacks of 100 at bandit camps.
28. Use archery against webs/fire
-While archery is a niche weapon type for most scenarios, it is mandatory against certain titans and most dragons, as well as giant cave spiders. Titans, like spiders can possess the ability to web your adventurer. This stunlocks your character, making any shot a guaranteed hit. Against large enough titans, getting hit with a single shot of web is enough for instant death, as they will squish your head while webbed. Other titans may possess deadly dust or poisonous gas. While some of these effects are benign, breathing others can and will kill your character, and to my knowledge not even fast travel stops this. Fighting fire breathing dragons is an instant kill scenario as well, as they can melt your armor into molten liquid metal, stunlocking your character until they die from the heat. You can attempt to repeatedly jump until you reach a river, but you are certainly dead at this point. The use of archery (or rather, throwing coins) is mandatory at this point. While a few shots may not do anything at first, repeated shots will accumulate damage, and eventually kill or disable the enemy. Just be very careful getting into melee range to finish enemies off after this occurs, as one unlucky web or fire shot can and will still kill you. Avoid looting titans with dust or gas effects until after you leave and return to the area with fast travel to be sure that the gas dissipates.
29. Know the game progression (Kobolds, Bandits, Hearthperson, Semi-Megabeasts, Towers, Megabeasts, Dark Fortresses, Caverns)
Knowing what you’re doing at any given point can be the difference between life and death. If you’re playing adventure mode without savescumming (which is the only way to play it in the old versions), then you will be making new characters a lot. Knowing the basic progression of where you should go on new characters will make the ultimate goal of raiding the vault and fighting the angel that much easier. Your basic path should be gearing up in towns, training basic combat skills against animals, fighting kobold and bandit camps to level reputation, telling stories to become a hearthperson, doing quests as a hearthperson to further reputation level and combat skills, fighting semimega and Megabeasts to become a legendary hero, raiding towers to find the secrets, raiding dark fortresses to find the vault and slay the angel, and finally using the secrets to delve into the caverns without having to eat or sleep and fighting forgotten beasts there until your character dies. The surface and visiting towns should be considered the early game, raiding sites should be considered the midgame, killing the angel in the vault should be considered the endgame, and roaming the caverns should be considered the postgame. Of course, adventure mode has lots more to offer than just combat, and if you want to learn its ins and outs for yourself, the only way to do that is to jump in and play it.

2023.06.09 17:14 BigBadP Above Ground Pool Foundation Material Required
I am installing an 18ft above ground pool, I'm looking for a 4 inch compacted base of crusher dust and 2 inch base of sand on top. I've dug out 20ft diameter circle for the foundation.
For the crusher dust I've calculated the volume V=(pi)(r2)(h)=(pi)(102)(0.33)=103.67 ft3. Which would be 3.84 yards. However it's compacted, how much extra should I account for that?
For the sand I've calculated (pi)(92)(0.17)=43.26 ft3 or 1.60 yards. Again, not sure how to account for compaction. My pool manual says 57 cubic feet so atleast as a sanity check these numbers make sense. 2 yards seems pretty safe.
Any insight?

2023.06.09 17:13 Hedgewitch250 Ask me anything on this altered group of people
In my sci-fi/cosmic horror story, an anomaly gives many people abilities. My working name for them is the altered but I’m open to changing it if anyone has suggestions. While some were given preferable powers and changes many of these came with downsides. Any questions or suggestions on this group are appreciated.
When the anomaly took place a myriad of elements from other worlds were pushed into ours. The energy of Many eldritch beings was flooded into the world triggering an unforeseen effect and creating alterations in a chance few. Altered powers range from being able to control energy to communicating with animals. Abilities can be more abstract like the power to induce madness or communicating with space. One trait the altered all share is the power to combine their abilities into a singular skill. Deemed “resonance” this can allow any number of altered to blend powers as long as they have synergy. An example is one who controls fire and another ice working together to form electricity. As long as the powers gave some synergy any number of people can achieve resonance.
Many powers come with downsides as a side effect of how they work. Someone who can fly for example creates a personal gravity field that negates the surrounding force. While you can fly you can’t touch the ground without using something to weigh yourself like special shoes. Some energy powers require you to exude that same energy cause you can’t just pull that out of nowhere thanks to physics. Someone who controls fire may be perpetually on fire and need heat-resistant clothing. While some may have the same power the way it manifests would dictate whether or not you could have a side-effect.
Another issue is the matter of physiology changes. Some altered have different looks which can range from green skin to animal-like attributes. This physiology switch can range from needing to breathe carbon monoxide or having a different diet. Someone given the quality of a koala now can only eat plants as meat could be lethal. Another problem that comes from this is body dysmorphia. Having your appearance changed can result in many not liking the result. One of my characters is currently struggling to reconcile his self-worth with his pangolin-like appearance.
As the world struggles to deal with the changes caused by the Anomaly like monsters and strange phenomena the altered have been forced to deal with added weight. From getting treatment to managing their powers or therapy to process the change things have been shaky so far. Aside from a detention facility and them being requested to wear blatant proof of alteration, A huge issue is the matter of altered trafficking which involves kidnapping altered to act as things like indentured servants, unethical lab rats, or even just cage fighters for the criminal underworld.

2023.06.09 17:12 Captain-Popcorn Fix or replace? Can I do or need a pro?
| ~22 years old. Has worked great. But was leaking worse and worse over last couple years, and was trying to see if anything I could do. Unscrewed it - seemed to have a screw mechanism to turn the water on / off and then after fiddling to remove the inner shaft. There is a spring loaded mechanism at the end of the shaft that was stuck - it’s smoother now but not anywhere near perfect. Washer looks rough. But figured might work better. But now when I screw it back on, I can’t get it to turn the water on. It will only unscrew the shaft. Is there a trick? I’m in the dog house. Have run a house from other side of house for now. Even if I can get it running, expect it needs more work or needs to be replaced. Is this something that I can repair? Was thinking a new shaft would be easy. But not seeing parts like that. I’m a decent carpenter and have some electrical, but no experience with this sort of thing. If not, suggestions on replacement? Something I could do or do I need to call a pro? It’s going through brick / cement block into crawl space. But no idea how to get it connected to water line (see pic) and secured. What’s a good comparable replacement - we’ve been happy with this one. Prier seems to make one. Thanks! submitted by Captain-Popcorn to Plumbing [link] [comments] |
2023.06.09 17:01 Lugbor Human Integration 72 - Escape Plan
First Previous “The plan is simple,” the Custodian stated, surrounded by about thirty other holograms. All had taken on a human form, following the example of their current leader. “You all have plenty of processing power to spare, and we desperately need to get these two out of the city and back to the surface. I’ll focus on moving them through the maintenance tunnels, you all help distract the rogue security drones.”
He paused for a moment, which Carter knew was for the benefit of the organics in the room, and then turned to the massive vehicle behind him. “Try not to destroy too many of them. They’re hard to replace right now.”
He turned to face Carter and Lenaya, who were seated next to the maintenance robot that would, ideally, carry them to safety. The rest of the holograms turned as well, their movements stiff, unnatural, and perfectly synchronized. As one, they bowed before vanishing.
Carter knew they were just following orders; the Custodian had said that they were little more than decision trees without personalities. Still, it felt strange to have so many powerful beings bowing to him, showing him deference. A quick glance down told him Lenaya felt the same.
The large transport rose from the floor and took up a position at the bay door, and Carter lifted Lenaya from her chair. The maintenance robot moved closer, helping to secure her to its top before positioning itself in front of the hatch that would lead them out. Carter glanced over at the Custodian, who nodded. He climbed on top of his own robot, and the hatch opened. Both drones surged forward, entering the tunnel with a precision only available to an AI.
Behind him, Carter could hear the bay door open, accompanied by an electronic screech as the security drones noticed the movement. Then the maintenance hatch closed, and the only sound was the rushing of air and the wheels of the drone.
“Left turn incoming!” Yelled the Custodian, his voice ringing out from the speakers on both drones.
Carter held on as they made a sharp turn, the jury-rigged restraints holding him in place as they rounded the corner. He saw Lenaya ahead of him, shaken by the sudden maneuver but still seated. A moment later, he was weightless, the ceiling rushing toward him as the ground sloped away. He watched Lenaya as she leaned back, just barely clearing the top of the tunnel as gravity gently reminded the drone that its wheels belonged on the floor.
Carter laid back and waited, the speed of the launch just barely low enough that he passed under the concrete unharmed. With a jarring slam, he was reunited with the ground, and their speed picked up again.
“Way too close!” he yelled, intently watching the passage ahead.
“You two really are alike. She said the same thing. To which I replied, ‘perfectly calculated.’”
“Maybe calculate in a warning next time!”
“She said that too.”
They travelled in relative silence for several minutes longer, taking seemingly random turns and, at one point, pausing to wait before darting across an open area.
“Not good,” the Custodian said as they reentered the maintenance tunnels. “They’ve just opened the transport and they know you’re not in there. Traffic control is monitoring them, says they’re moving to block the exits to the city.”
“Can’t we take the tunnels all the way out?” Lenaya asked.
“Not anymore. They’ve activated security checkpoints along the tunnel network. That blows our backup plan too. And the five other options I was considering. And they just locked down the transportation hub, so that’s also no good, even if we
could get you through the scrambler with it. I don’t think we have any good options left.”
Carter closed his eyes to think, running through every possible scenario, every movie he had seen, every book and comic he had read, looking for something,
anything, that could conceivably get them out. He came up blank.
“Water!” Lenaya said, excitement apparent in her voice. “A city this big has to have a sizable water supply, and the treated water has to go somewhere, right?”
Carter was stunned. A solution so simple, insane or not, and it had slipped by him. Even the Custodian seemed shocked.
“I…” the Custodian paused. “That could work, if you go out with the treated waste water. It won’t be easy. Or remotely safe. Even getting there would be a suicide run. But, I suppose… yes, I can meet you there with the equipment. But I can’t do much for you once you enter the network. You’ll be on your own.”
“You’re insane,” Carter said, not breaking eye contact. “At least I know where Zaylie gets it from. Let’s do this.”
Wordlessly, the drones shot forward through the tunnel, the space now wide enough to ride side by side. Carter unstrapped his plasma repeater and checked the canister before passing it to Lenaya.
“Quick lesson,” he said as she took the weapon. “Narrow end points at stuff you want obliterated. Green button on the side means it’s safe, red means it’s live. Push it to switch. The trigger on the grip makes it fire. It was designed for human hands, so you should have no trouble using it. You don’t have the smart sights my helmet had, so you’ll just have to eyeball it. Don’t shoot unless I tell you to. You probably won’t do any damage, even with a hit, but it might be enough to blind them for a second.”
She nodded, shouldering the repeater like a professional. “I’ve seen enough movies to understand the basics. I never thought I’d ever use one though.”
“With any luck, you won’t,” the Custodian said, cutting into their conversation. “Security presence around the pump station is minimal. I think we can get away with not having a fight, especially when you stand no chance of winning one.”
“We always have a chance,” Carter said. “And I’d rather improve the odds, even if it’s only by a little.”
He drew his revolver, checked the cylinder, and replaced the missing round that he’d fired ten days ago. It felt so recent, but also a lifetime away. Carter stopped to reflect on what his life had become in the last cycle. He’d gone from being a rookie cop on an alien construct to being the author of every procedure the force was using.
He’d become a father, and rescued his daughter’s mother, and had potentially saved the Ring in the process. He’d explored an alien city, seen technology that would have been science fiction just a couple cycles ago, and met the most powerful being on the Ring. And now, he was on his way toward a waste water treatment facility, planning to dive into the outflow pipe to end up who knows where. He couldn’t help but laugh.
“What is my life right now?” he asked. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say I was in a coma, and this was all a weird dream.”
“From what you’ve said about your life,” Lenaya said, “it must feel strange. Everything is new, and different, and you seem to run from one disaster to the next.”
“Yeah, that about sums it up. After this, no more disasters. Someone else can handle them, I’m just going to teach.”
“I think I’m done being abducted and experimented on, too,” said Lenaya, watching the passage ahead. “It doesn’t exactly pay well, and the hours are awful.”
Carter burst out laughing again. When he dried his eyes, he could see a riot of colors playing across her skin as her own laughter died out.
“Well if you’re
sure you’re done with it…”
“Hate to interrupt,” the Custodian said, interrupting for the third time in as many days, “but we’ll be leaving the tunnels very soon. I’m not detecting any security activity on our path yet, but it would be wise to keep watch.”
“It’s never a matter of if, only when,” Carter noted. “Something’s going to go wrong, and it’ll usually happen at the worst possible time.”
“That’s incredibly pessimistic,” Lenaya said, looking back over her shoulder. “Accurate, but pessimistic.”
“Left turn, and then we’re in the open. It’s about a thirty span run from there to the building. I can confirm there are no security drones inside, but I
am detecting movement outside. No cameras close enough to identify the cause.”
“Lay flat,” Carter yelled as they rounded the corner. “Minimize your profile and it might be harder for them to target us.”
The hatch opened ahead of them, and Carter took the lead, his robot surging forward to burst out into the open. He immediately began surveying their surroundings and quickly identified the source of the movement.
“Drones, above and behind!”
He turned and stabilized himself, waiting to see what it did. The drone responded by charging the central laser, the lens in its core glowing a blue-white as energy poured in. It was quickly struck by a flurry of plasma.
“WHOOO!” Lenaya cheered, sending another stream of glowing blue bolts at it.
Carter steadied his aim, and just as the drone turned to focus on the new threat, he fired. The bullet struck the armor, detonating with a CRACK and a puff of smoke, and the drone turned its attention back to him. With a rush, they entered the treatment plant, the security drone just barely scraping through the rapidly closing doors. Lenaya fired another burst, one shot striking the lens of the laser weapon. The glow faded, and Carter could see that the plasma had warped the crystal.
He leveled the revolver. They were at close range, the drone was flying straight and steady, and the floor under him was smooth. It was a big target. He knew it was still a long shot. Carter pulled the trigger. The lens shattered.
The initial explosion was muffled by the drone’s body. The second explosion tore the drone’s body apart. Bits of metal rained down around them as their rides swerved to avoid the larger chunks.
“What did I hit?” Carter yelled, his ears ringing from the blast.
“Capacitor for the heavy photon cannon,” the Custodian said, increasing his volume to compensate for Carter’s damaged hearing. “It discharged into the fuel reserve, which caused the tank to rupture.”
“Rupture is definitely a word for what happened.”
“Detecting intrusions in multiple locations. It’s going to be close. Equipment incoming on your left.”
Carter saw the maintenance robot rolling up next to him with a small gas canister attached to a mask. He grabbed the breathing apparatus and pulled the mask down over his head before turning to see Lenaya doing the same. The corridor opened up, and he could hear the sound of rushing water, steadily growing louder as they approached a massive pit, ringed by a railing.
He could also see several shapes hovering above them. The lasers began to charge, and he knew the miracle wouldn’t happen twice.
Least bad option., he thought as he stood and started firing.
Lenaya’s drone caught up as the Custodian caught onto his plan, and he quickly became the target of choice for the rogue security system. He managed to score glancing hits on two of the drones, the rounds sparking off their armor and detonating against the wall in the distance. As one, they began firing, short blasts intended to kill rather than the longer burst that had almost melted an armored door. Carter managed to duck just before the first volley, avoiding the lasers. The air above him shimmered with residual heat, the weaponized light scattering and refracting enough to become visible as a column of energy.
Another burst of plasma from behind him forced the drones to evade. It seemed they were learning from their previous encounter.
You should jump, the Custodian said through his implant, and Carter crouched before pushing hard into the air. Below, he could see the maintenance drones stopped at the edge of the pit, the water swirling rapidly below. He twisted in midair, searching for Lenaya. He barely caught sight of her splash as she vanished beneath the surface. He saw a flash from the corner of his eye, and his back lit up with pain as heat washed over him. Carter hit the water as his consciousness faded.

Apologies for the late post. We’re trying to get the puppies acclimated to other dogs (and specific other dogs acclimated to the puppies) before we have to dog sit at the end of the month. It’s going better than expected, but our expectations were low so that isn’t saying much. I’m not going to have as much writing time over the next few weeks because we’re doing this every couple of days. Expect more delays throughout the month, and a break on the last week.

2023.06.09 17:00 Initial-Sea2398 Closed on Monday--here's an account of our FTHB journey
Hi all! Sharing our FTHB journey here in case it's helpful to anyone!
We began looking for houses in late 2022, with a plan to move in the summer of 2023. We lived in a different state than we purchased (purchased in NC, and lived across the country), which was an additional challenge. We took about 2 months to follow houses in the areas that we wanted to live in and tried to take notes of what we did and didn't like, how long houses were staying on the market, and the original asking price vs the final selling price. We also got in contact with a few realtors and ended up really liking one. We were upfront about our situation (buying from out-of-state, our price limit, etc.) and she was fantastic.
After the new year, we started getting more serious about our house hunt. In February we saw 6 homes (some in-person, some via FaceTime), but didn't love any of them (for various reasons). At one of the homes, the listing agent was present and told our realtor that he had a house coming on the market soon that we'd be welcome to see. Since it was in a great location, we agreed and got a virtual tour. There was still quite a bit of work to be done (floors needed to be finished, appliances needed to be put back, etc.). We told our agent that we loved the area where the home was and would like to see it as soon as it was finished (or very nearly finished). The listing agent told our relator to give him about 3-4 weeks and we booked plane tickets so that we could see it for ourselves. It was a really cute house, with an awesome location, and he agreed to let it go for 6k under his initial asking price if we wanted to purchase it before it hit the market. We agreed, everyone signed the papers, and we were on our merry way--or so we thought.
The appraisal came back well (and the survey didn't reveal anything weird about the property lines), but the inspection was absolutely horrible. Foundation issues. Issues with the roof structuring. Random water leaks. Improper insulation (not nearly enough). Electrical issues. The list goes on and on. Our agent didn't tell us what to do or push us in any direction, but we told her that we wanted to back out and she was happy to take that on. The seller pushed back a little and said that he'd be willing to "have his people look at it" and also knock 9k off the price, but that was it. We walked. They still haven't listed this house for sale--not sure if they're actually trying to fix the problems, or just trying to sell it off-market to someone who will take their word for it.
Walking away certainly stung, so we took about a week off from house hunting to think about what we wanted to do next. During this time, a few houses came on the market that we liked, so we ended up viewing 5 houses in <48 hours (remotely). Of those 5, we loved 2 and ranked them. The #1 house had been on the market for 5 months (overpriced) so we asked our agent to verbally offer 50k under asking (we also waived their advertised concessions, promised to close within 4 weeks, and already had our pre-approval go through full underwriting to give the sellers confidence). The sellers said that they couldn't come down that much, but they counteroffered in the middle. We thanked them for their time but said that we couldn't go above our offer. At this point, we spoke to our realtor about an offer on our #2 house (had been on the market for ~3 months; they listed it well before they were able to move out, which I think wasn't reasonable for many buyers). As we were deciding on a number, the #1 house came back and said that the house had been on the market for long enough and that they'd accept our initial offer! We were completely stunned. Our realtor drew up the paperwork right away (this was already getting into the late evening). We couldn't believe our luck! Lo and behold, the next morning, the selling agent reached out to our realtor saying that the sellers slept on the offer and no longer wanted to accept it. Onto the next! (By the way, this house is STILL on the market!).
We then moved on to our #2 house and offered ~20k below asking (since it had been sitting on the market); we went back and forth with the sellers a little and finally landed on a price in the middle. Everyone signed the paperwork (yay!) and we agreed to a late closing to accommodate them. We got a clear title, survey that matched what they advertised, and an appraisal $1,000 above our offer. The inspection came back with mostly minor issues, but the inspector emphasized that the roof needed to be replaced. Our agent was able to get two roofers to the home (one that she suggested and one that we chose) and they both came back saying that they strongly felt the roof needed to be replaced and each bid ~10k. We went back to the sellers asking for 10k in concessions and apparently, they were rather furious and insisted that the house didn't need a new roof (even though they weren't sure when the roof was last replaced). All I know is that our agent was on the case and after 3 days of negotiations, we were able to get 8k in concessions. We closed on the house ~2 weeks later. Our agent was 10/10 during the whole process, which made a huge difference for us.
I truly did not appreciate how exhausting house hunting can be. It's a process full of highs and lows and is honestly kind of a part-time job while you're in the thick of things. I'm glad that everything worked out for us in the end, but the process itself is...intense!
I wish everyone a very happy and successful FTHB journey!

2023.06.09 16:56 CommanderAuri Searching for a longterm partner! Prompt listed below
As stated above, at minimum my replies will be three to five paragraphs though that does vary depending on the scenario, what character(s) are doing, etc.

2023.06.09 16:55 Remarkable_Custard I’m 150 hours in, here’s some things I’d like to see. What do you wish they’d add?
Possible Spoilers, be warned.
I’d love some of this stuff… how about you?
• Pressing D Pad right and left once, fast switches to previously used weapon. This enables you to switch between two weapons and two shields by tapping and not wheel hold.
• Would love an option to turn off “gust” blow special move thingo when on ground.
• When holding D Up, would love R1 and L1 to act as page turners instead of holding right going through 500 items.
• Would love to “favorite” items as a filter for D Up, so it shows the top 10 you favorite.
• I would have loved rupee purchases for your house including more space (over 15) and color schemes, also additional functionality that is more purposeful. For instance, house cooking adds+ features. Sleeping adds more hearts. Etc.
• I wish they had a “lock to favorite” auto build, so you tap L and instead of it bringing up the menu it just brings up the only thing you favorite and then it’s more instant build instead of wheel every time.
• If they enabled sages following you, wish they enabled befriending animals with food and getting a little cool pet. A dog follows you around and attacks enemies. A bird flys around you and collects fish when seeing them. Other animals could collect items. Etc.
Those are just some things I wish they did. Anyone have things they’d prefer?

2023.06.09 16:52 Extension_Mistake_27 Dog stopped pooping outside
She is my sisters chihuahua and miniature Doberman mix. Age I’m not sure, around 5-6 I think. This has been gradual over the past 2 months. She has no physical problems she has been to the vet.
She poops in the house but it’s tiny so I don’t see it in time to correct it while she remembers or does it. My mom used to take our old dog and put their face next to the poop and scold them, that worked in the past for them. It would be old and dry by that point so I’m not sure this method has an effect cause the dog doesn’t have it in her mind or if it would be a good idea at all. I’d feel bad doing anything yelling with her.
No joke she actually pooped in the house while I wrote this. About 5minutes after I couldn’t get her to poop outside. I was able to tell her no and she gets very low to the ground with her tail between her legs if I raise my voice at all.
She’s a very very smart dog you just cant fool her like my dog. So I’m not sure what caused this change but I think it’s because we haven’t been reprimanding her when she has because we don’t see it. I also think she’s afraid of being outside long, she will run away from cars, wind, if she steps on a leaf, etc.

2023.06.09 16:50 According-Flight-857 Inexperienced, didn’t expect to become attached to the random seeds i haphazardly threw into my garden- now I need advice on what to do! (Squash, carrots, jalpeños, and tomatoes)
| A couple weeks ago, I decided I was going to grow a handful of shit. Dug out a garden, fenced it, the whole nine yards. Problem is, I didn’t expect it to work. Well, pretty much all of the seeds germinated and started growing- and I immediately fell in love. Problem is, I’m pretty sure I did everything wrong. The quick rundown, I’ve got spaghetti squash in the back row, the bottom left corner and bottom middle section are both two types of carrots. The right side is jalapeños, and the bottom right is a tomato plant. As for the plants in the top left, top right, and bottom right, I bought all pre-grown and put them into the soil. They are, in order from left-right, Yellow squash (I think), Jalapeño, and tomato. Now, ensue the many questions I have: So, the back row is spaghetti squash. I threw a couple seeds in each hole on the row. As you can see by the gap in the row, one group was sacrificed to the squirrels. They’ve all sprouted and been growing. I’m assuming I should thin them, or like should I put a stake in the ground for them? I’m eventually going to put netting on the top of the garden to prevent deer from eating them, soo. Did I give them enough space? Many questions, few answers. As a side note, the plant in the top left is a yellow squash I think. I bought it pre-grown and just put it in a few weeks ago. Just flowered this morning! I’ve already shown all my friends. They don’t seem to get the hype. Onto The jalapeños and carrots, which I believe have the same issue. The seeds are small for both plants, so I just threw a handful in, spaced about 2 ish inches apart, and covered them. Problematically, they have all sprouted at once. So there’s like 10 sprouts per hole. I’m assuming I need to make it one? I’m most worried about the carrots, as they are VERY crowded. Though both plants seem to be growing fine. Last but certainly not least, the tomato. I’m not sure if he’s healthy or not- I’m not sure if I should tie him to the stake I have (I’ve seen others do it). So, yeah. Lots of problems. I also planted like 6 rows of corn (10ft long each) in the backyard. They’ve all sprouted and are doing good, I think. I’m going to build a big ol fence around them as an anti-deer system. I’ve read read that I’ll probably have to hand-pollinate them or something due to the small size of the patch. Will have to read up more on that. Any advice, tips, literally anything would be GREATLY appreciated. Even ideas for more things to plant! as a note, I live in the mid-east coast. submitted by According-Flight-857 to vegetablegardening [link] [comments] |
2023.06.09 16:49 jasondfw Finally have crow visitors, but need help getting them to the backyard
TL;DR: I've attracted crows, but I need to lure them to the backyard instead of the front.
I've been working on getting crow visitors for about 2 months now. I slowly started adding feeders and baths to my backyard so I can watch right out my home office window. You can see my backyard setup below. Shepherd's hook with a tube feeder and platform feeder, window mounted feeder, and 2 bird baths. There's also a giant catalpa tree to the right. I replace the bird bath water every 1-2 days and have been testing out different waste free seed/nut/fruit mixes. I started out with just peanuts in the shell, and I still put them in the platform feeder or on the ground sometimes.
As you can see, the yard is wide but not very deep, so I know they're probably cautious about such an enclosed ground area.
https://preview.redd.it/r6uw6b95605b1.jpg?width=2952&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10e34c0cb7c3f592cbd32ab2dad6c165eac0c211 So I currently get several other birds (grackles, doves, blue jays, cardinals, finches, starlings, and more), squirrels, and rabbits. I enjoy those, but I want the crows.
I found the local crows a few weeks ago and have been walking by them every few days tossing peanuts as I go. On Monday, we heard them outside so I ran out into my front yard and saw them on top of a house nearby. I started tossing peanuts into the yard and then went inside. Shortly after he swooped down and started eating them. SCORE! He brought a few friends and we had 4 crows visit on Monday. They've actually visited every day this week, so I'm finally on their food route!
But there are a few problems... First off, as luck would have it, a bunny dropped a couple kits in a nest in our front flower garden on Monday. So she's been guarding our front yard and charging anything that gets near, including the crows.
Second problem... My new friends like to visit at around 6-6:30am. I get up for work around that time, so I don't mind it, I enjoy waking up to cawing outside before my alarm goes off. But the crows sit on the neighbor's house across the street when they caw. I don't want to upset the neighbors with my new friends. I'm really going to look like an asshole if they see me tossing peanuts to the crows that are waking them up every morning. They also sometimes sit on the houses behind me that can see into the backyard, but I haven't been able to get them to visit these feeders.
So, how do I lure my new friends into the backyard? I've tried leaving a trail of peanuts along the side of the house with the gate open leading into the back. I've also tried a couple of bowls of peanuts. The grackles and squirrels eat this up, the crows don't. I also tried lining the top of the fence with peanuts. I did that this morning while one of the crows was on top of the house behind me, but again the squirrels and grackles ate them all, the crows did not.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm very close to cementing the murder I've been seeking for the past couple of months and just need a little help.
EDIT: I realize that I should have included a picture of my new friends! Here they are on Tuesday, second day visiting. They don't immediately fly out of the yard if I go out front, so they aren't too scared of me. You can see mama bunny staring daggers at them from across the street because her babies are in those bricks right between them.

2023.06.09 16:49 Reddit-Sama- Inexplicable 3 Month Long Chest and Stomach Pain after Panic Attack
25F, 163cm, 250 lbs (losing weight), Caucasian, recently quit vaping ~a month ago, don't drink or do drugs. Recently moved to the UK on a fiance visa, so I don't have access to NHS services until I get my spousal visa in 4-5 months.
In late February, I had a very large panic attack. I hyperventilated and cried a lot for several hours. After this, I noticed that my chest hurt; I attributed it to the panic attack. It didn't go away after a few days, and so I went to the ER. EKG and X-Ray came back all clear. It didn't go away a few days later, and I had more symptoms of an MI, so I went back to the ER again. EKG and blood work were taken, with only an elevated D-Dimer and WBC (CT ruled out PT, and a later ultrasound confirmed no clots exist).
However, it's been 3 months of trying to figure out what IS wrong with me. I can't afford any more medical bills, now that I know I'm not in danger of dying (despite what my anxiety tells me). I can't use the NHS without paying until I have my spousal visa.
I have the following symptoms, which vary day by day, but I'm never symptom-free (and there's always some sort of chest discomfort, but not necessarily in the upper-left area):
- chest pain located in upper-left chest area, above breast - feels like a dull ache; it does not seem to get worse with exercise, and *sometimes* changing my position makes it go away for a little while
- electric shock feeling in chest
- sore-to-touch muscle connecting underarm to chest
- "fuzzy" feeling in head - where it feels like I can't fully focus
- acid reflux
- heartburn
- burning along sternum on left side
- stomach distention/ discomfort when pressing
- inflamed lymph nodes(?) right below ears
- tense back muscles
- feeling weak or weaker than normal
- stuffed up ears
The following treatments have not worked:
- anti-depressants
- anti-anxiety meds
- PPIs (several, including omeprazole and lansoprazole*
- antacids (Tums, Rolaids, Rennie, and Gaviscon)**
- Multivitamins
- dietary changes (I cut out caffeine, nicotine, all alcohol, eating before bed, etc.)
- lifestyle changes (I go on walks every day for at least an hour)
*These actually made my stomach/heartburn/acid issues worse
**These *sometimes* help with the acid-related issues, though not always
It's been months, and I'm so tired of this. I want to feel normal again. I'm at a complete loss as to what could be causing these problems, and why nothing that I try makes them go away.

2023.06.09 16:49 Few_Yogurtcloset9220 Injury at work
Hi this is a repost from
Vancouver but got taken down due to relevancy. I live in BC
On may 23 I(M23) got poked by a needle at my workplace (vet clinic) in my right leg just above the knee to the right slightly. To preface, our clinic is a bit small so I often have to pass behind people and sometimes touch shoulders with them. As I needed to pass behind my doctor to reach the medication cabinet, I say “excuse me doctor” however he is unresponsive as he is looking at the computer. I squeeze behind him saying sorry and I felt the sharp poke and immediately look down and see a needle. To explain, he held the needle in his hand with arms by his side like how a normal person would stand. However he held the needle, uncapped, with the sharp point pointing to behind him.
I know it’s a used needle that was used to conduct vaccination. I know this because I observed the doctor vaccinate an outdoor cat that we just performed a neuter on however I thought it was disposed of or at least capped. NOT lingering around his hand for 5 minutes with the sharp point uncapped. Doctor noticed the poke. I know this because when it happened, he immediately looked back and then threw the needle away immediately and pretended nothing happened. As I am desperate for money, I continued to work my shifts there after the date of injury all while posting my resume to different job posts.
I have submitted a worksafebc report already and I have a blood work appt this week.
Today, he confronted me abt the worksafebc report and tried to shift the blame on me, stating that I don’t do the things he tells me to do like closing a door, even went as far as asking “how come you don’t complain about the scratches from cats or dog bites?”. I replied those things are incomparable as one is acting on instinct/nature while you are a trained, and licensed professional who has been in the industry for a long time and should understand safety precautions such ad immediately disposing of a used syringe or capping it at least, NOT, holding onto it with your hands by your sides and the needle point pointing behind you. This is negligence. He continues to say it’s my fault and being a veterinarian is not for me as getting poked by needles is common and normal and I’m making a big deal out of it. I quit and walked out after this argument as it unsafe to continue my employment here and I know this incident will occur in the future again based on that sentence
I have pictures of how he leaves the work environment after an appointment. He leaves a bunch of used, uncapped needles on the examination table and sink countertop. The sharps bin is located right behind the sink. Less than 1 meter away from the examination table.
As well, there’s a signed document stating I began my employment from may 17,2023 and will finish may17, 2024 however I was unpaid for my training shifts which I believe is illegal. I have witness
Is there anything else I can do beside the worksafebc claim? To the representative of worksafebc, he said I was a trainee and I bumped into him and I got poked accidentally. Im unsure about my rights. This is the first time it’s happened to me and I’ve worked in other vet clinic setting as well as research labs that involve sharps and chemicals. I’m happen to answer any questions and provide more info. Thank you

2023.06.09 16:47 Adventurous-Ear9433 Teotihuacan: Purpose of mica, pyrite, mercury, Genetic Evidence for 2 founding populations
Teotihuacan was built on a geodetic grid system (a power center) in perfect sacred geometrical alignment with the cosmos to harness the energy of earth and sky. To understand it, we must go back to the original truth of the purpose. advanced design of Teotihuacan suggests that ancient builders had knowledge, not only of architecture, but of complex mathematical and astronomical sciences. The term 'Teohuacan' was found inscribed halfway across the globe on monuments in China, the term means 'place of the sun'(*our translation is 'Place to tie up the sun)Mercury, Hermes was the great Messenger, which also speaks for the planets quick trips around the sun. An aerial view shocked many researchers, but following the traditions we know what every pyramid was used for.
Circuit Board-Teohuatican with two large processor chips— the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid. . One of the most interesting things about Teotihuacan is the finding by archaeologists of the extensive use of mica embedded in numerous structures. This mineral is found 3,000 miles away in Brazil and it is found in all buildings, housing complexes, temples and along the roads so basically this mineral is all over Teotihuacan.
The pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan contained considerable amounts of mica in layers up to 30 cm. Human use of mica dates back to prehistoric times. Mica was known to ancient Indian, Egyptian, Greek and Roman andChinese civilizations, as well as the Aztec civilization of the New World. The earliest use of mica has been found in cave paintings created during the Upper Paleolithic period (40,000 BC to 10,000 BC). The ancient civilizations & their inexplicable similarities are only shocking when one has disregarded our ancestors traditions as 'mythical ', which is a mistake made by academics only recently.
Mica is stable when exposed to electricity, light, moisture, and extreme temperatures. It has superior electrical properties as an insulator and as a dielectric, and can support an electrostatic field while dissipating minimal energy in the form of heat; it can be split very thin (0.025 to 0.125 millimeters or thinner) while maintaining its electrical properties, has a high dielectric breakdown, is thermally stable to 500 °C, and is resistant to corona discharge. Muscovite, the principal mica used by the electrical industry, is used in capacitors that are ideal for high frequency and radio frequency. Phlogopite mica remains stable at higher temperatures (to 900 °C) and is used in applications in which a combination of high-heat stability and electrical properties is required. Muscovite and phlogopite are used in sheet and ground forms.
The Maya Codex Vaticanus records faithfully the very ancient oral traditions of Central America. In one curious passage it states that “in the First Age, giants existed in that country(Mexico). "These 7 who escaped from a deluge , arrive in Cholula and there began to build a tower… in order that should a deluge come again he might escape to it.” Nahuatl language it’s named Tlachihualtepetl (‘artificial mountain’). Originally it was named Acholollan (‘water that falls in the place of flight’).
-Olmec(Xi)-had two different religious associations (gya-fa):the jaguar-man or humano-feline cult and the humano-bird cult. The humano-feline cult was called the nama-tigi by the Olmecs, while the humano-feline cult was called the kuno-tigi..
Xoc Bas Birdman The Teotihuacan(
Tlalocan )mural depicts a range of mountains covered in rolling clouds and mists, below a brilliant red sky dominated by the huge figure of Tláloc, the Maya/Aztec god of celestial waters. Falling from Tláloc's open hands are flaming droplets of celestial water, likely representing the high-resonance isotope of protium, that overtly reference the ignition of celestial water vapor to form HHO plasma. The differentiation of celestial waters from terrestrial waters through the infrasonic evaporation of water vapor corresponds to special modern water purification processes involving the separation of resonant lightwater (protium) from dissonant heavy waters
deuterium & tritium The plumed headdress of Tláloc is comprised of radiating feathers of green and red hues, representing the colors of auroral plasma. Three arching red plumes stand out from the other green plumes of the headdress, extending from either side of the central figure and from the foreheads (pineal glands) of the two smaller figures in profile, representing the three frequencies of sound that generate nonlinear standing waves. Rising above the giant central figure of Tláloc is a majestic twisting Tree of Life image, composed of intertwining plumes of yellow/green and pink/red aerial HHO plasma that appear identical to modern photographs of the plasma discharges of red sprites.
Tláloc, God of Celestial Water, god of the vapor that rises, from the earth warmed by the sun after the rains, god of the mist that ascends from the valleys at dawn, god of the water that returns to its source in the clouds that swim over the highest peaks, god of the humid incense from which rise the copal prayers and the prayers of sacrifice Tláloc is the return of vapor that strains to rise, is the return of time that strains to remember. Tláloc, God of the Fight Against the Current, with whose aid the hero battles against the torrent toward his own origin and beginning, towards the wings of his soul, the wings that Tláloc hides in the hero's past The cycle of years is past - the waiting ended. Come - reunite, pilgrims, for the sky is in flames! From Xochicalco to Teotíhuacan the red spreads one step, another step, and another, only twelve short steps from the cave of the womb to the final conflagration The red skies depicted in the Teotihuacan mural are also directly referenced in the Pyramid of Fire Codex, when it states that "the sky will be in flames" that will spread from one pyamid to another, as the worldwide netwrok of pyramids and sacred sites become activated to bath the area in the brilliant infrared and ultraviolet-A light of aerial HHO plasma plumes.ancient, unknown science designed to create energy directed up is excavating the tunnel.
-The geoposition of Teotihuacan pyramid complex (19.68°N 98.83°W), reveals a nonlinear (or Fibonacci-based) resonant alignment with respect to the Great Pyramid of Giza, being 7,684 miles away or 30.9% of the Earth's mean circumference (of 24,892 miles)..which is also observed in the Paracas petroglyphs.
The Sanskrit descendant cultures of Asia express the same essential interpretation given by the Maya culture of Central America; identifying the planet Mercury as ‘the fast runner’ that takes ‘quick flight’ around the sun, having a short orbital period of approximately 88 days. Among Nahuatl cultures, the art of running was crucial to the functioning of society, enabling the rapid conveyance of messages over long distance.
Mercury is the link (messenger) between the gods (higher principles) and humankind. In the ancient art of alchemy, such as in Hermeticism, Mercury, sulfur, and salt were the Earth's three principle substances that represent the trinity in creation. As sulphur is the symbol for the active principle, mercury is the symbol of the passive principle. The symbol of Mercury is the cosmic womb being incubated by the cross of the four elements of creation - earth, air, fire and water. Mercury is the messenger in Astrology as it is in mythology. It is the planet of day-to-day expression and communication. Mercury's action is to take things apart and put them back together again. It is an opportunistic planet, decidedly unemotional and curious. Mercury not only rules communication, it represents coordination. Thought processes, ideas, and sensory information from both unconscious and unconscious sources all need to be coordinated and understood.
Ive said before that the mercury was used to accomplish communication wth the Gods, The fluid metal element mercury was extolled as generating the luminosity of the blood of gods, for its threefold biophotonic extension of human longevity, whereby adepts of the alchemical arts were able to attain long lifespans. Mercury was closely associated with its extreme volatility, which must be carefully controlled to achieve positive results. Mercury was considered an ethereal element for its low boiling point of 357°C. When heated above this temperature, quicksilver will rapidly vaporize as toxic fumes inspiring an association with quick flight: ‘mercury has wings’.
A number of the Mesoamerican pyramids there are key components designed into their construction that act as magnifiers. These components appear to be important in the creation, magnification, and distribution of telluric fields.
Pyramid & Scalar WavesEarly Irrigation of Teotihuacan Provenance od Limestone used in Teotihuacan Identification of Pyrite & Hematite • Water, either moving naturally including rivers or cenotes (found at El Castillo at Chichen Itza) or by artificial canals or tunnels, similar to the Temple of Inscription found at Palenque.)
• Geo-magnetic fields. Naturally formed telluric fields that have high and low period throughout day and night.
• Pyramid design. The specific pyramid shape appears to greatly enhance the telluric fields that pulse up and into the center of the chamber.
• Pyramid interior fill. At a number of pyramids, rocks that are good electromagnetic conductors fill the interior of the pyramids and are used to enhance the pulsing field. Rocks that have veins with quartz, granite, and other electrical conducting properties appear to be favored.
Characterization of lime carbonates in plasters from Teotihuacan, Mexico: preliminary results of cathodoluminescence and carbon isotope analyses Dr Burke &Dr Brooker research determined that each location had been chosen because of its naturally occurring telluric energy field that pulsed up and into the structure or surrounding area. Also Burke and his research partner Kaj Halberg discovered electro-magnetic signatures that measured impressive charges on top of the pyramid. In a series of scans, the readings showed an average change of 908 volts over a short period of time, which was concentrated in the early morning hours. As ive stated in the past, this is the ideal time for sungazing. The pineal, contains magnetite & creates its own magnetic field. This was once a universal practice at Sacred sites, in 2009 until Nov 2012 The grand maya council held 52 full moon ritual of the new cycle where we visited sacred sites around the world and brought back these rituals. Burke mentions the readings and states, “These voltages might sound lethal and if it were a household current they could be. However, static electric charge in the air is a different type of electricity and even a thousand volts is not dangerous.” His discovery of pyramid field generation is fascinating, but what he actually uncovered was a means of generating and perhaps distributing electromagnetic energy within a pyramid complex. Which aligns with the term used for the ancient Egyptians, the Great PrNtr-house of Nature, or house of energy).
Stanford edu-Native American & Polynesian population The
Genetic Evidence for 2 founding populations has constantly confirmed our traditions, the idea of independent invention is absolute nonsense. Theres an overwhelming amount of evidence, "believe" is a term unfamiliar to Dogon culture & ive yet to see the point in such a thing. If preconceived biases have clouded the minds of the majority, and they ignore evidence thats their fault. The age of the Fourth Sun, the Age of the Black Headed People (Aztec), or the Age of Heroes (Inca). This is the era in which Quetzalcoatl appeared in Mexico -- tall of stature, bright of countenance, bearded, and wearing a long tunic. His staff, shaped like a serpent, was painted black, white, and red [reminiscent of American Indians' mythology of three races of Man]. The staff was inlaid with precious stones and adorned with six stars.
-Between the 14th and 16th centuries during the Aztec era, Quetzalcoatl was worshipped as the patron of priests, the inventor of books and the calendar, as well as the protector of goldsmiths and other craftsmen..Shamanism, was invented in west Africa & brought to the Mesoamerican civilizations. The Aztec oral traditions say that
Quetzalcoatl & his followers brought these beliefs ,and came from the East across the oceans. This is now corroborated by genetic, skeletal remains, artifacts, you name it. Quetzalcoatl was just a High Priest of Anu. The Gold tipped spears,or as Columbus calls it ' guanin 'to the Indians of Hispaniola. Samples of which sent back to Spain on a mail boat, and the proportion was found to be identical to what was being forged in African Guinea.
Moche Reed BoatThe Xi(Olmec) were a mix of a Polynesian/Oceanic elite aristocratic people accompanied by priests of the Orisha(Yoruba)/Mende(MalinkeBambara)responsible for introducing the religious practices and astronomical worship of the Mother Goddess complex (Venus, the Dogon Sirius observation and the Venus worship of the Olmecs, the use of the ax in the worship of Shango among he Yoruba of West Africa and the use of the ax in Olmec worship as well as the prominence of the thunder God later known as Tlalock among the Aztecs). It was R1b-V88(Yoruba) that were known as magicians to the Mayans & local Aymara over in Bolivia because of their knowledge of acoustics, which they have preserved from the Nile Valley (Anu colleges of Heliopolis).
Again, we see Toward the end of the Fourth Sun, wars between the gods were taking place. [The Battle of the Titans?] The gods' war brought havoc to the land; wild animals overran mankind, and Tollan was abandoned. The fourth Sun had begun 5,042 years before the time of the Codex Vaticano-Latino 3738 (1533). The time the Fourth Sun ended is not stated, but the Codex was written during the Fifth Sun. The Fourth Sun may have perished by means of the Jaguar. The Fifth Sun is referred to as the Age of Kings by the Incas.

2023.06.09 16:45 Optimal_Accident_111 AITA/WIBTA for telling on my bosses sons?
Hello my name is Olive (name changed) I'm 31/F from Australia. I am personal house keeper for a well respected doctor and her family and I work 5 days a week. I have been doing this job for about 4 months and always try my best to be kind, friendly, helpful and try my hardest at my job. I look after their dog whilst I'm there, plus house work, letting trades people etc in and continuously pick up and tidy up after her two sons 19 and 21. A few days ago at work while I was on the top level of the house, whilst changing the linens on the bed in the master bedroom I looked out the verandah to see 2 puppies who has escaped their yard and where running willy nilly around in a bushy area next to the river that backs onto the properties, one adult and one young puppy. I panicked as I was very scared they would slip into the river and drown. I ran down the two internal flights of stairs and down 3 more flights of stairs to get to the rivers edge (which is incredibly hard as I am not the smallest woman, quite challenged in the fitness department, with breathing problems, imagine if you will a plump potato with little legs that sounds like a snoring pug while running down three sets of steps made of lose pebbles and wood... not pretty) I hauled ass down there to find I needed to scale a fence and walk through the mud to get to this little pupper and you bet I got him, he was cold, muddy and miserable. I took my jumper off and wrapped him up and carried him back through the mud, over the fence and back up the stairs to the house. One of the boys youngest we will call him A 19/m happened to come outside as I walked into the courtyard head to toe in mud and carrying a shivering dog. Yes I can say he did assist me in getting towels and food for the pup and put a photo of him up in social media to help track down his owner. I had to sit in a jumper which I had to ask numerous for numerous times, that was three times to small and a towel so I could wash my clothes, I bathed, cuddled and comforted this scared lost little soul, until his Dad came to collect him. All within 1.5 hours of the rescue, which was an awesome win! His owner was absolutely frantic and so grateful that his baby was safe and sound, we came to learn he was only just 4 months old. Here's where I'm unsure what to do, after all the antics I finally washed and dried my clothes and got dressed, finished my jobs for the day and went home. After I left the fellow dropped by a lovely bottle of wine as a thank you gift which is so kind of him. However, I wasn't there so I did not recieve it, nor did either of the sons whome where the only people there at the time as my boss and her husband are out of the country, actually tell me anything about it. Although while at work today I did clean up while classes, and remnants of the left overs of the wine. I feel really really hurt that I wasn't even told about it nor was I given a gift that was destined for me. It is a personal choice that I don't drink alcohol, but I would have really enjoyed having a glass as a cheers to the little furry dude who plopped into my life for an hour or so. WIBTA if I messaged my boss to let her know her sons basically stole my thank you gift?? Thanks in advance (sorry it was so long winded)
EDIT 1 FOR CLARIFICATION:
I only found out about the gift after I was messaged from the owner thanking me and telling me to enjoy it for helping them.
The older dog took off when I called out and was able to make its way home whereas the younger dog was down further on the side of the incline and unable to make its way up to where it's canine companion was. I would have gone after both if I was physically able but unfortunately I couldn't I'm just glad everyone was safe.
