2023.06.09 17:47 HerbJonesIsMySaviour The Challenges Faced by the 2019 NBA Draft Class: Debunking the Curse Narrative

The 2019 NBA draft class was highly anticipated, with several promising young talents entering the professional basketball scene. While every draft class has its share of struggles and challenges, it is essential to approach discussions about players with fairness and accuracy. Unfortunately, false narratives and sensationalized stories have emerged, tarnishing the reputations of players like Ja Morant and Zion Williamson. In this article, we aim to debunk the exaggerated claims surrounding these players while shedding light on other challenges faced by members of the 2019 NBA draft class.
Ja Morant: Addressing Misconceptions:
Ja Morant, the talented point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, has been the subject of rumors claiming involvement with guns and being labeled a "thug." However, it is important to separate fact from fiction. Morant has not been involved in any criminal activity related to guns. As a young athlete, he has occasionally posted pictures on social media holding firearms, but it is essential to remember that many individuals, including sports figures, engage in legal gun ownership and responsible gun culture.
Zion Williamson: Dispelling Inaccurate Reports:
Zion Williamson, the explosive forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, has faced unfounded allegations of a porn/sex addiction. Such claims are baseless and lack credible evidence. It is unfortunate when false narratives overshadow the exceptional talent and potential of young athletes. As professionals, these players deserve to be judged based on their performances on the court rather than sensationalized rumors.
Other Challenged Draft Picks:
a. RJ Barrett (New York Knicks): RJ Barrett, the talented shooting guard/small forward, faced immense pressure and scrutiny as a highly-touted prospect for the New York Knicks. While his rookie season was inconsistent, it is important to remember that adjusting to the NBA can be challenging for any young player, especially on a struggling team. Barrett has shown flashes of his potential and remains a vital part of the Knicks' future plans.
b. De'Andre Hunter (Atlanta Hawks): Hunter dealt with injuries during his rookie season, hindering his development and impacting his on-court performance. Despite these setbacks, he showcased his skills during the 2020-2021 season and played a crucial role in the Atlanta Hawks' successful playoff run.
c. Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers): Garland faced criticism early in his career due to shooting struggles and adjusting to the NBA game. However, he displayed significant improvement during his second season, proving that patience and development are vital in a young player's journey.
d. Cam Reddish (Atlanta Hawks): Reddish faced challenges finding his rhythm and consistent playing time during his rookie season. However, his versatility and potential as a two-way player have become more evident, particularly during the 2021 playoffs, where he played a crucial role for the Atlanta Hawks.
e. Coby White (Chicago Bulls): While White showed flashes of brilliance during his rookie season, he faced inconsistencies in his game. Nevertheless, he displayed growth in his second season and has the potential to become an impactful player for the Chicago Bulls.
The 2019 NBA draft class has encountered its fair share of challenges and growing pains, but it is crucial to approach discussions surrounding these players with fairness and accuracy. False narratives surrounding Ja Morant and Zion Williamson should be debunked, allowing their on-court performances to take center stage. Additionally, other players from the class have faced different hurdles, but they continue to exhibit promise and growth as they navigate their professional careers. It is important to support and encourage these young athletes rather than perpetuate negative narratives that can harm their reputations unjustly.

2023.06.09 17:45 Babycloud20 Understanding and Responding to Your Baby's Cues and Needs

Understanding and Responding to Your Baby's Cues and Needs

Welcoming a new baby into your life is an exciting and transformative experience. As a parent, one of the most important skills you can develop is recognizing and responding to your baby's cues and needs. Babies communicate primarily through non-verbal cues, and understanding these signals can help you provide the care, comfort, and support your little one requires. In this blog post, we will explore the different cues your baby may give and provide tips on how to respond effectively.

Decoding Non-Verbal Communication:
Babies may not be able to speak yet, but they have their own unique language of cues and signals. Pay close attention to their facial expressions, body movements, and sounds. Each cue offers valuable insights into their needs and emotions. By observing these non-verbal cues, you can become attuned to your baby's communication style.

The Power of Crying:
Crying is the most prominent way babies communicate their needs. It can indicate hunger, discomfort, tiredness, or a need for attention. Instead of becoming overwhelmed or frustrated, view your baby's cries as their way of communicating with you. Respond promptly, providing comfort and reassurance. Remember, you cannot spoil a newborn with too much love and attention.

Hunger Cues:
Understanding your baby's hunger cues is crucial for providing timely feedings. Look for signs such as rooting, sucking motions, or putting hands to the mouth. Your baby may also make smacking sounds or become more restless when hungry. Respond promptly by offering nourishment, whether through breastfeeding or bottle feeding.

Sleep Cues:
Just like adults, babies have their own unique sleep cues. These can include rubbing their eyes, yawning, becoming fussy, or losing interest in their surroundings. Establish a soothing bedtime routine and observe these cues to help your baby transition to sleep. Responding to their sleep needs will contribute to better rest for both you and your baby.

Diaper Changes:
Babies communicate their discomfort during diaper changes through cues like fussiness, squirming, or displaying signs of discomfort. Regularly check their diaper and change it promptly when needed. A dry and clean diaper contributes to their overall comfort and well-being.

Comfort and Soothing:
Babies seek comfort and soothing when they are tired, overwhelmed, or experiencing discomfort. Use gentle rocking, singing, swaddling, or offering a pacifier to help calm and comfort your baby. Responding promptly to their need for comfort fosters a sense of security and trust.

Social Interaction:
Babies thrive on social interaction and seek engagement with their caregivers. Look for cues such as eye contact, cooing, smiling, or reaching out for interaction. Respond with positive and affectionate interactions to foster bonding and promote healthy social development.

Sensory Overload:
Babies can become overwhelmed by bright lights, loud noises, or busy environments, leading to cues of sensory overload. Observe signs such as turning their head away, becoming fussy, or covering their face. Create a calm and quiet environment or provide a safe space for them to retreat to when they need a break from stimulation.

Play and Exploration:
Babies express their curiosity and interest in the world around them through cues like reaching out, grabbing objects, or making excited sounds. Encourage their exploration by providing safe toys and engaging in interactive play. Responding to their cues for play and exploration supports their cognitive and motor development.

Trust Your Instincts:
Ultimately, every baby is unique, and you are the expert on your own child. Trust your instincts and the bond you have with your baby. Over time, you will become more attuned to their individual cues and needs.

2023.06.09 17:45 Blahblah0123999 My husband is almost perfect but I despise him when he drives

I love love love my husband with all that I am. He is my soul mate and dream man. He treats me well and loves me passionately. We don’t really argue BUT when we’re in the car… I feel like I despise him sometimes.
He started driving later in life, 38 yo to be exact. We live in Asia so he used to commute or take a cab his entire life. I have some driving experience when I was in my teens (30 now) but officially took driving lessons last year, he also had driving lessons but it was 6 or 7 yrs ago, he never really drove after learning until we bought a car in December 2022. Now he’s been driving for 6 months or so. We’ve had some accidents because he’s always so unsure when we’re on the road. I grew up with good drivers around me (mom, dad, brothers, friends, etc) so it’s really my first time to be driven around by a complete novice and I just lose it. He signals on the exact time he’s turning, he turns right or left from the farther lane, he doesn’t know how to park without me guiding him even when we have a parking guide in our car, he doesn’t know anything about car maintenance. He doesn’t even know how to operate any buttons inside the car (he asked me how to adjust his seat, how to bring down windows, how to open the head lights, etc) He’s really slow when he drives and he always hesitates when he’s changing lanes even if it’s completely free to change lanes! One time we were on the freeway and a large truck came from the right he suddenly pressed brake for us to slow down (he said he felt like the truck was gonna bump into us BUT it had its own lane). This caused the car behind us to also break and they got hit by a bus behind them. I was livid.
I am torn between driving everywhere when we’re together or allowing him to just drive and drive until he gets better at the expense of my sanity. I do guide/teach him some things I picked up from other drivers but I do it with such annoyance. I always say in my head that “He should know this!!”. I get so guilty because his driving really brings out the worst in me. Right after he parks, I’m always okay and back to normal but it’s when he drives that makes me go crazy.

2023.06.09 17:45 Inquisitive-Carrot Trying to hang a light fixture but the house is fighting back

I recently purchased a house that was built in 2010, and still has most of the builder grade finishes in it. As a product of 2010, this includes a lot of the fixtures commonly referred to as "boob lights;" the round ones with the glass shades held on with a, um, screw in the middle.
My quest to eradicate the titillating luminaries started in the basement, where the removal of the old one went fine, but the replacement fixture is a long rectangle instead of circular. I would guess the new light is about the same weight as the old light, but the weight is not as evenly distributed, so it causes the existing electrical box (secured on a joist to one side) to droop and the light to be lopsided. Plus, it doesn't make me feel confident that it's not going to drop out of the ceiling on me.
"No problem," I thought; "I'll just install a fan brace!" Been there, done that before and it was no big deal. Went out, got the fan brace and discovered that the existing electrical box is 3.5 inches in diameter (which I didn't know was a thing) and the box on the fan brace is 4 inches. So that doesn't fit.
I'm kind of stumped. For various reasons I'm really trying to avoid cutting into the ceiling. Is it possible to get a fan brace with a 3.5 inch box on it? The light fixture isn't super heavy (maybe 15 lbs max), so it's not like I need one of these things that can hold a 70 lb fan. Is there another option?
Also, I do have a spot upstairs where I do want a fan that will probably run into the same issue. Any input there?

2023.06.09 17:44 Civil_Collection7267 Meta releases new SOTA text to music model MusicGen. Demonstrated samples are better than existing models including Google's MusicLM

Samples: https://ai.honu.io/papers/musicgen/
Code and models: https://github.com/facebookresearch/audiocraft
Paper: https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.05284
Abstract:
We tackle the task of conditional music generation. We introduce MusicGen, a single Language Model (LM) that operates over several streams of compressed discrete music representation, i.e., tokens. Unlike prior work, MusicGen is comprised of a single-stage transformer LM together with efficient token interleaving patterns, which eliminates the need for cascading several models, e.g., hierarchically or upsampling. Following this approach, we demonstrate how MusicGen can generate high-quality samples, while being conditioned on textual description or melodic features, allowing better controls over the generated output. We conduct extensive empirical evaluation, considering both automatic and human studies, showing the proposed approach is superior to the evaluated baselines on a standard text-to-music benchmark. Through ablation studies, we shed light over the importance of each of the components comprising MusicGen.

2023.06.09 17:44 Mu_Fanchu Taiwanese Opinions About Neighbouring Countries?

Recently, in a comment on a post, I suggested that those that live in Taiwan shouldn't buy phone brands from a country that is trying to politically isolate Taiwan (to put it lightly), and I get the below response from another user (yes, I know that many phone components and phones are made there, but at least it's only the manufacturing).
I just want to know if the below is actually representative of how Taiwanese teenagers (or any other age group) feel? I was under the impression that Taiwanese generally like Korea (especially Korean pop culture) and that opinion about our giant neighbour was divided equally up and down the spectrum of hate/love. The response:
Blowhard. You are trying to be more of a Taiwanese patriot than the actual Taiwanese. The Taiwanese don't have this kind of a problem. Xiaomi uses a bunch of components that were made by Taiwanese companies. Processors for example. MTK doesn't have a problem doing business with Chinese manufacturers. If the Taiwanese pass on Xiaomi or Oppo phones it is because those are not cool enough brands. That's why every teenager I know and even my garbage man uses iPhones. Anything less than Apple is trash in the eyes of the Taiwanese. Guess what my Taiwanese friends hate more than Chinese phones: Samsung phones. My GF told me that she would leave me if I took home a Samsung phone. And she was serious. Lots of Taiwanese hate Koreans and Korean products. A friend of mine (Taoyuan baseball fan) told me this hatred is rooted to some baseball scandal, the Koreans cheated in some game.

2023.06.09 17:43 acidreinn Doctor said he doesn’t think I have it because I’m black

19M. My vision is blurry and my eyes are dosing off it’s weird I can’t explain it. I get random pain in different spots one moment my wrist then my foot then my leg then my neck and I have a headache that travels down the sides of my face and I can’t produce a clear fucking thought my head is just airy. I keep yawning I yawn so much and fucking fatigue there’s so much I wanna do but feel like I just can’t. Something weird is happening with my hands, they are fiery and there’s no boundaries when I touch stuff now. When I touch stuff it feels so… light, it feels apart of my hand, and then my hand gets tingly and starts vibrating especially when I touch my hair and in a way the touching is all in slow motion. My professor, who has multiple sclerosis and in a wheelchair, was concerned for me and egged me to go to a specialist about this because he said it sounds like early onset. But my doctor said I don’t need a referral for a neurologist because I’m African American and this disease is mainly towards white people.

2023.06.09 17:42 Alfonse215 K2 Diary 8: Fission Power and New Science

K2 Diary 8: Fission Power and New Science
Last time, we upgraded our power to 300 MW on the basis of using water. Now it's time to undo that and move to something else.

Fission and Testing

Because U-235 is much more precious in K2 than vanilla, I decided to go back to older reactor designs. The first reactor I ever designed had throttling built-in: it didn't add fuel unless it was running low on steam. So I'm going back to that, though the implementation will be quite different.
Also, I discovered that K2 doesn't give you a 100% reactor bonus anymore; it's only 25%. So my dreams of a 2x2 reactor that gives 4 GW are dashed. But 1.5 GW is fine for the time being.
K2 also rescaled pretty much everything with regard to fission reactors (though for some reason they didn't rename them). They give 250 MW of energy, heat exchangers each absorb 50 MW of heat, consume 250 watesec, and turbines each generate 10 MW of energy. This makes the ratios much easier to work with.
But the biggest improvement K2 makes for fission is that steam contains a higher energy density than in vanilla. To get just 1.1GW in vanilla, you need ten water pumps. In K2, you can get 1.5 GW of power from just 6 pumps. The ratio of exchangers to pumps is also exactly 5:1.
What all this means is that its much easier to build a working reactor setup in K2 compared to vanilla. This makes sense, as fission is no longer the end-game power plant of choice (ignoring UPS, of course). Speaking of UPS, since you can build them much more compactly, K2's nuclear setups are probably better in GW/UPS terms. Though not much.
K2 also gives you gigantic fluid tanks that you can use to regulate the reactor, so you don't have a bunch of plumbing everywhere. Here's my overall setup:
Power is Good
Each of the three exchanger setups is isolated from the other two... mostly. I do have some pumps that are used if steam from one tank setup significantly exceeds the steam from another. This is mostly just to make sure that things stay relatively even.
The biggest difficulty in regulating reactors isn't telling when to insert fuel; it's telling when not to. You can't just say "steam is low, insert fuel", because the time between inserting the fuel and the steam getting high enough is extremely long. You'll constantly be inserting fuel until you fill up the reactor's capacity, and then it stays on for way too long.
So my setup uses an RS latch to detect when the reactor is on vs. off. One of the 4 inserters is the primary inserter; all of the other inserters only insert fuel when they see the primary inserter do so (and each inserter is limited to inserting 1 item). The reactor is latched to being "on" when the primary inserter inserts fuel. And it will never insert fuel if the reactor is "on". The reactor is unlatched to "off" when a spent fuel cell is removed.
So you only insert fuel when the reactor is off and the steam condition is met.
Unfortunately, I realized a small flaw with my design: the S signal being set is what constitutes the "off" state. This was very useful for detecting "off and steam low" (simply adding S from two different sources). But this means the system isn't self-starting. You must manually insert the first fuel cell (or manually put a spent fuel cell in the reactor).
And putting fuel cells in your inventory causes damage now. So that was fun. But that was always going to be a problem, since I don't have logistics chests yet.
Also, note that I built this design in a testbed map. I wanted to use Editor Extensions to spawn a separate shard within my main K2 map, but unfortunately, activating the testbed shard doesn't actually pause the main map. Biters are still evolving, power is still being consumed, etc. So I just switch to a different map when I want to devise setups like this, then bring the blueprints back to the main map.

Yellow Science is Weird

Previously, I talked about the weird design of K2's ingredients list for purple science. They weren't especially useful by themselves (unlike vanilla), and they weren't exactly in common use as intermediates.
K2's yellow science ingredients are even stranger.
Blue circuits and LDS are taken from vanilla. Both of these make sense from the standpoint of general utility (particularly among stuff that gets built from yellow science). But there's always been an annoying issue: they're also both (nearly) direct components of space science. Thus space science feels like yellow science, only *more*.
But flying robot frames more than make up for it. They have a very long and complex synthesis pathway (in vanilla terms), and they involve a number of slow-to-produce intermediate products. And if you can master their construction, you get bots. Thus, yellow science encourages you to get bots, which is something a novice player might not understand they even want. Especially given how hard frames are to produce.
But K2 replaces flying robot frames with... rocket fuel? You know, the other component of rocket parts. That just seems like a really bizarre change design-wise. Yes, veteran Factorio players don't need to be told to make flying robot frames; they're going right for them the second they get blue science done. But rocket fuel is such a bland choice.
Now, there is something going on here. In K2, space science isn't as important as in vanilla, because that's not the end of the tech tree. In fact, K2's tech tree post-purple and yellow splits into 3 paths: space science, matter science, and advanced science (what, did you run out of descriptive words there?), all leading to the final tier: singularity science. This means that a player can choose not to go for space science for a while and go for the other two instead.
But that doesn't justify using rocket fuel. It doesn't even have a complex synthesis chain like flying robot frames. You just add more light oil and some means of generating oxygen, and now you have rocket fuel.

Rocket Fuel from Water

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's make some.
Krastorio 2 seems to love having multiple ways to make the same stuff. There are 3 separate ways to make rocket fuel: from light oil (presumably some from of RP-1/LOX), from hydrogen chloride (any idea what propellant this alludes to?), and from ammonia gas (no doubt nitrogen tetroxide & hydrazine ). The latter involves pulling nitrogen out of the air (since nothing else can create it) and processing it into ammonia.
Unfortunately, every single one requires oxygen, and therefore every single one produces a bunch of extra hydrogen. OK, technically you can produce the oxygen you need via condensation, but despite my incentives to just burn uranium fuel cells, I'm not doing that. Also, I have to produce hydrogen anyway to make the ammonia; it's just that producing enough oxygen by electrolysis means making spare hydrogen.
The ammonia version doesn't require any material input save water for electrolysis, and I love making useful stuff from just water. So here we go:
37 MW for 50 fuel per minute
That's a lot of power for relatively little fuel; I could use the same power to get about 3x the fuel from coal liquefaction.
But, as I have built no lithium processing or even mineral water extraction (I should probably do that), my only source for precious tritium to run my portable fusion reactors is reprocessing spent uranium fuel cells. So being stupidly power hungry isn't a bug; it's a feature.
Also, I still haven't even hit 500 MW of consumption, so it's not like I'm running out of power.

Next Time

I'm running out of uranium. I started expanding towards the new patch, but then I decided that killing biters was boring so I got yellow science instead. So I guess I'll finish that expansion and move forward from there. And perhaps spreading U-238 to the bugs would be useful.
Lithium seems vaguely useful, so I will probably start in on that next. But I'm also beginning the process of transitioning to a bot-based hub. Since there's still a lot of game left, and I'll probably start building megabase blocks before getting too deep into the final trio of techs, it's best to make it easy to add new kinds of infrastructure. I just need to convert the bottom of my bus so that it inserts stuff into logistics chests.

2023.06.09 17:42 DormantSteveJobs Help "Identifying" a genre in video games from about 2000-2015

Hello everyone. I've recently gone back to playing "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" on my 3DS. I enjoy it for both it's mechanics and the way the game looks. A while after coming back to it, my cousin loaned me a copy of "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" for the PS2. I noticed it had a similar art style, as in how things were shaded and modeled. I began to think about other games that look this way, and two great examples are the Wii/Gamecube version of "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" and "Smash Bros. Brawl" on the Wii.
As I began to think more and more about this subject, I eventually figured out that I must have a thing for early 2000's to mid 2010's video games. I really love the way that they "feel". They are super clunky, but that clunkiness makes the game feel great. I love the lighting. The games look objectively dark, and it looks stunning. MH3U shades everything in such a way that it feels natural. It had a large emphasis on water and swimming, and when we think of those two in real life, we think happy and sunny things. In a game that is literally focused on hunting monsters, it should feel a little more dark. But it doesn't! Instead, there are places that shock you with their sheer beauty. In the middle of hunting monsters, sometimes I'll just stop and take in the scenery. I see beauty in the large areas all the way down to the small details. I cannot stop thinking about how amazing the developers did, everything looks just right. Not too cartoony, not too light, not too dark, everything is just right. This game, just like the others mentioned, feel so well lit and feel so exhilarating to play, and I've only felt this way with very few games. Of those few games, I noticed many of them were, once again, from the 2000s to mid 2010's. So, talented and wonderful people of the internet, I've come to ask for your aid. There is so much I want to know. What is this style called? Did games from this period often look like this, and I just don't remember? Why do I find it hard to describe the way these games look and feel? But above all else, what other games are like this "genre" in this specific time frame? I implore you to help me learn more, and I hope you learn something too. Whatever you can find and/or know would be greatly appreciated. I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I thank you in advance!
TLDR: I need help finding games from around 2000-2015 that look like "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate", where the game has a distinct look and feel to it (other games that look similar include "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" , "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater", and "Smash Bros. Brawl")

2023.06.09 17:41 Wholesale-Safety-S What are the best surveyors safety vests?

What are the best surveyors safety vests?
There are various elements to consider while purchasing surveyors safety vests, including visibility, comfort, durability, and compliance with safety requirements. While I cannot make product recommendations in real time, I can offer you a sense of what to look for when selecting the best surveyors safety vests. Consider the following crucial features:
  1. High-Visibility - Look for safety vests with bright colors like fluorescent orange or yellow, as they are highly visible even in low-light conditions. Reflective tapes or strips that provide additional visibility at night or in poorly lit areas are also important.
  2. ANSI/ISEA Compliance - Check to see if the safety vest meets the standards established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA). In the United States, the standard for high-visibility safety clothing is ANSI/ISEA 107-2015. Check that the safety vest meets the relevant class and type standards for your specific needs.
  3. Pockets and Storage - Surveyors frequently need to transport equipment and gear. Look for safety vests with a sufficient number of pockets and storage choices to make important goods conveniently accessible.
  4. Breathability and Comfort - Surveyors may be required to work in a variety of weather conditions, so it is critical to select a safety vest that is both breathable and pleasant to wear for lengthy periods of time. Surveyors can stay cool and dry by wearing vests constructed of lightweight, moisture-wicking materials.
  5. Adjustable Fit - To provide a secure and personalized fit for varied body proportions, choose safety vests with adjustable elements such as straps or side closures.
  6. Durability - Because surveyors frequently work in harsh locations, consider the longevity of the safety vest. Look for vests constructed of tough materials that can survive a lot of wear and tear.
  7. Additional Safety Features - Some safety vests may include extra features like as D-ring access for attaching tools or ID badge holders for simple identification.
To find specialized surveyors safety vests that fit your needs, I recommend exploring reputable safety equipment vendors or manufacturers. They can provide up-to-date information on the greatest options on the market and aid you in selecting the proper safety vest for your needs.

2023.06.09 17:40 jaft0000 Is there something wrong with me/what is wrong with me?

Hello there. I've chosen this sub because there are quite a few people here so maybe someone will chime in but it's going to be mostly anger related stuff. I meet so many people I'd consider to be of below-average-intellect and I'm getting a bit too frustrated to just "let it go" at this point. I should probably do something about it. Just not sure what exactly. Mindset or just heavy meds. Anyways, before I go on I'd like to mention that the quote "If everywhere you go it smells like shit, maybe it's time to check your own shoes" has me worried and am aware of this possibility.
Some stuff I recon wouldn't even be noticed by many/most but still grinds my gears tremendously. I wonder if it's fair of me to be pissed. Here are some.
Job - too many to point out, I'm sure we share lots of similar experiences. Douchebag clients/coworkers/bosses, you name it. Not always the same but at least one usually happens at every job.
Gym - people not caring about others at all. Not putting weights back in their place, feeling like they are superior to the beginners, badmouthing them instead of helping or "acting tough".
Shopping - cutting the line, commenting stuff like "why are you in the supermarket if you are only buying 2 things" (as if one does not deserve to shop for less than an entire week), being impatient and putting pressure on folks packing their groceries (apparently too slowly) etc.
Roads - that's a huge one. I get migraines every time I'm in the car. Cutting off, driving below the speed limit (which is somewhat acceptable but if you are scared of driving/overtaking maybe leave some space so I don't have to overtake 5 cars at a time. Such a small thing that would make our lives easier), parking in 2 spots, sitting in your phone at the traffic lights and not paying attention etc.
Cinema - as an avid movie enthusiast I go to the cinema quite often. The whole point of the cinema is to immerse yourself in the movie. 9 out of 10 times there's someone talking or checking their phones every 5 minutes. Occasionally browsing instagram on an unmuted phone making sure we also browse with them passively.
I could probably go on for hours but it's not the point. Am I going nuts here or is this stuff actually annoying? Or maybe I have a moron-magnet and stumble upon them more often than not. Just give it to me straight. Living like this is tiring.

2023.06.09 17:40 MaHawkma /r/UnionOmaha will go dark on 12th June in protest of Reddit's API changes

I know this is a small subreddit and it probably won't make that much of a difference to Reddit, but I feel compelled to join with other moderators in the blackout starting the 12th(especially since these changes has killed the third party app that I use on mobile /apolloapp). As far reasons why someone should care:
Below is the template provided by the folks at ModCoord(that I found on /Omaha). What it doesn't mention is the impact that this shutdown will do for the vision impaired et all that were using third party apps to access the site.
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do as a user?
What can you do as a moderator?

2023.06.09 17:40 jabathehutjfjkskka what can i do to make this the best set up ever?

what can i do to make this the best set up ever?
you can’t see them but there are two thermostats inside for the heat emitter and UVB lamp. i also cover the right backside and top of her tank with a light blanket for more coziness and to keep the humidity in. i just bought some artificial plants to create more possible hides, but is there anything else i can do? i love her so much, i want her to have the happiest home possible!

2023.06.09 17:39 XanDeR1337 7800X3D Temp Concerns

Hey guys, I just finished my build a few days ago and had some concerns that I might have used too much thermal paste (I'm a first time builder) Im running a 7800X3D and a H150i topmounted running as exhaust in a 5000D airflow, both with stock settings.
I'm idling at an average of 44.7°C, Here is a screenshot of my pc idling/lightly browsing for 40ish minutes https://i.imgur.com/AsZGjWQ.png and here is me running Jedi Survivor at 1440p max settings with fsr2.0 on for about 30 minutes https://i.imgur.com/0AMYeQY.png
I even peaked at 85.3c yesterday, while playing apex i believe, is it normal for there to be such a small difference in idle to game performance on the 7800x3d? or should i reapply my paste?
My ambience is probably around 20-25 degrees depending on the workload and if window is open, room is quite small.
Edit: Thermal paste is Arctic MX-6

2023.06.09 17:39 Mysterious-Act4414 Weight lifting and liver enzymes?

Lifted weights for the first time in several months, had the worst doms (delayed onset muscle soreness) of my life in several major muscle groups. Could barely straighten my arms or stretch pectoral muscles etc after without SEVERE post workout soreness. A week later it’s mostly faded away but still a tiny bit tender.
Workout was on a Friday night, fast forward to next Thursday morning (5.5 days later) I go in for CBC, metabolic panel, lipid panel, etc.
AST 225 U/L (ref 10-40)
ALT 86 U/L (red 9-46)
Bilirubin flagged at 1.3 but ref high end 1.2…
For an unrelated work up previously I’ve had imaging done of the abdomen, ultrasound followed by MRI confirmed a hepatic hemangioma 2cm but nothing else noteworthy.
In December I had a CT scan again for unrelated reasons and this again made note of an unremarkable liver except known hemangioma which they see again on the CT.
Of course I’m following up with my doctor but while I’m waiting on next steps any docs out there to put my mind at ease as to have you seen excersise related liver enzymes like this before? Is there a good chance I just overdid my muscles during my workout and it’s making my liver look out of wack? Or should I start worrying?
Also: Male 32 years Light/social drinker (maybe one drink or two on a weekend every couple weeks) 180 lbs, 6’0” Very active with running cycling etc.
Thanks!

2023.06.09 17:38 IzBox Don't Let Reddit Kill 3rd Party Apps

What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free. Reddit's tools for moderation are improving but inferior to many third party apps we use to run this and other subs. Bots that improve the QOL for all of us also would be impacted by these changes. And while nobody here has a problem with monetization, the amount reddit would charge is far beyond what any of these bots or apps make, let alone ones that provide functionality for free.
(And yes, our sub will be returning after the 48 hour protest.)
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

Guided Prayer to St Expedite for Urgent Needs (Posting Because a Blessing Occurred!)
My sisters and brothers, I am sharing with you a very special prayer to my heart that I discovered four years ago. Ever since, I have created a short guided prayer video to this prayer so that all may know this powerful intercessor, St Expedite. He is the saint of urgent needs, procrastination, and I can say without a doubt he has helped me in times of great emergencies!
I recently completed this prayer as a 9 day novena and would like share with you a blessing and testimony. At the time for two weeks, I have had seen no progress in a particular situation financially that left me in great distress. I could not find the means to care for my family in light of a medical emergency. Despite the struggles during this novena, I kept praying even when I felt like my faith was wavering. On the 9th day all of a sudden things changed drastically, and in turn not only did the medical emergency subside but the financial situation recovered! Praise God!
This is my thanks to God and to St Expedite for his miraculous and speedy intercession. Please share this prayer video if it resonates with you. God bless!
