Class Rank: My school does not do class rank since it is a specialized high school.
Coursework: Every class I have taken at my high school is AP level, but it is not an AP class. In other words, it is not labeled as an AP class but I have taken three AP exams without studying and got 5s on all of them just by taking the class. I also have 12 college credits from taking certain classes.
AP Tests: 5 on AP Chemistry test, 5 on AP Environmental Science test, 5 on AP Human Geography test.
SAT and ACT: 1480 SAT (780 Math/700 English), 32 ACT
Awards: Nothing notable, won a county science fair for an independent research project I conducted freshman year, and I have the biliteracy seal for Spanish and English.
ECs:
LORs and Essays: Great LORs from my Chemistry 1 and 2 teacher, Spanish teacher, and Physics teacher. I have two essays that I believe are good, and I have had everyone I could get proofread them. This includes my teachers, my friends that are good at English, and my family.
Intended Major: I would like to go for Aerospace Engineering.
Chance Me: Chance me mainly for Georgia Tech and UMich, but also chance me for any other good aerospace engineering school in the country.

I have not taken any AP classes, but I need help choosing what classes I should take if I’m interested in engineering specifically aerospace engineering and architecture.
For math I have only taken: Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry. For science I have only taken: Earth science, biology, and chemistry.
Next years planned schedule: •AP Chemistry •AP Physics 1 or 2 • Intro to Computer Aided Design •Civil Engineering & Architecture •PreCalculus •AP Government (?) •Economics •English •AP Psychology (?) •AP Comp Sci Principles

2023.06.10 04:27 MrPoliSciGuy The Roma Rebuild - Vol. 5

Hi all,
It's about that time again! For the fifth year in a row, here is my (unsolicited) overview of Roma's squad, current mercato, potential signings, and loan dealings.
Every year I try to give these a theme - last year, the name of the game was versatility: getting players who could cover multiple roles as we had a severely reduced squad due to FFP rules. We saw exactly how that came to bite us both in the league - where we were LITERALLY playing the kids to give the first teamers a break - and in the EL Final, where forced substitutions left us going into Penalties with no designated penalty takers.
With no expectation of squad reductions this season, the name of the game for this exercise is depth - our first team is good, VERY good even, but the question is "what options do we have on the bench or in rotation that can keep that level of quality?" and the answer this season due to injuries (Wijnaldum, Kumbulla), transfers and personal issues (Zaniolo, Karsdorp), or registration issues (Solbakken) has been categorically no. Simply put, it is not fair to put the weight of expectation on Benjamin Tahirovic (who is too young to purchase Alcohol in the United States) because our midfield of Matic and Cristante cannot play every game. Pair that with the long term injuries to Kumbulla and Abraham - both of whom will not be back until 2024 - and we need bodies, plain and simple.
Our current FFP situation also means that we will likely need to end this mercato in the black - which means relying on free transfers, loans, and spending money VERY judiciously.

Transfer Dealings Done

Now to our credit, we have gotten a head start on at least two players:
Houssam Aouar: Aouar is a gamble in my honest opinion. A few years ago, this man was the Robin to Nabil Fekir’s Batman, and while I don’t think either of those players has had the career they had hoped to have, on his day this man can be unplayable. Emphasis on the “on his day”. On good days, Aouar has Jordan Veretout’s work ethic, and Jeremy Menez’s feet. On bad days, he has Veretout’s feet and Menez’s work ethic.
On the positive though, he can play (like Pellegrini) both in the center midfield as an 8, or more attacking as a 10. This can give us options off the bench to either rotate or change a game as necessary.
Evan Ndicka: Now this one I’m very happy about. Ndicka is left footed, very physical, but very intelligent as well which means he has a good eye for a pass as needed. He reminds me quite a bit of Antonio Rudiger in that he fits a very similar profile and played for a Bundesliga club at a similar level. I have no reservations - I think he will be a hit, but like Aouar will benefit tremendously from a full pre-season.

Squad Breakdown

NOTE - I am not including loan players who have returned to their respective clubs (Wijnaldum, Camara, Llorente)
Goalkeepers
Pietro Boer - Let’s start with the easy one: Boer is a third choice keeper that is home-grown at club. Useful for registration, costs us peanuts, has never complained. Keep.
Rui Patricio - From the easy to the hard one: Rui’s decline this season has been sharp, but consistent. His great saves remind us that, once upon a time, that’s a solid goalkeeper, but that has been paired with just… odd mistakes - not Robin Olsen bad, but pretty bad nonetheless. This is no longer a starting International Goalkeeper (that honor goes to Diogo Costa nowadays). He would still make an excellent second-choice goalkeeper at a top club - which might be a good selling point as he still has admirers in the Premier League. Sell.
Mile Svilar - I really wanted to love Svilar. Football Manager Stans rise up, because ALL of us have signed Svilar at one point or another. Svilar still strikes me as potentially a very good keeper, but he has been unable to dislodge Patricio from that starting berth. I think he will end up staying around, and I hope he can prove himself to everyone in a starting role next season. Keep.
Defenders
Gianluca Mancini - We start with Mancini because as of right now, he is the only defender that looks certain to stay. He is definitely the second coming of Materazzi in temperament… if not in talent just yet. He still as a few years on his contract, Mourinho likes him a lot, and he provides leadership on and off the pitch. Keep.
Chris Smalling - While Smalling has been our best player (not just defender) at quite a few points this season, I am always concerned about long-term performance with him. I think he should be renewed - his play has merited that - but if I said “leader at the back, wins everything in the air, incredibly useful on set pieces” I haven’t just described Smalling… I’m also describing one Federico Fazio. Players like Fazio and Smalling are incredibly reliant on their physical attributes - but that physicality at older ages is one major injury away from disappearing completely. Renew him - but no more than two years. Keep.
Marash Kumbulla - Ah, the anti-Smalling. If Chris Smalling’s play has merited him to receive a contract renewal, Kumbulla’s definitely has not. However, due to his ACL injury, Marash is staying for another season in Rome… even if he probably shouldn’t. Keep.
Roger Ibañez - Now comes the other shoe. Roma needs to raise 30 million euros by the end of June to comply with their FFP agreement with Uefa. Failure to do so will likely hamstring us again in the coming Europa League, especially without Champions League money. With Abraham’s injury, and Ndicka a done deal, the clearest place to monetize in the squad is with Roger Ibañez. Our relationship with Roger has been a love-hate one, where we love his grinta and his ability to score in crucial moments, but his brain-farts have cost us on the pitch… repeatedly. Sell.
Full-Backs
Rick Karsdorp - It’s unclear what Karsdorp’s situation with the manager is. On the one hand, Karsdorp was reintegrated into the squad after his falling out with Mourinho and did continue to play, but how much of that was convenience and a “wait until the summer” mentality rather than anything truly genuine. Karsdorp is also currently recovering from an injury, which he should be fit from before September. He has a contract until 2025 - I’d consider him out the door should we receive a good offer… but I doubt we will. Keep.
Zeki Celik - I think it speaks volumes that Mourinho at times has preferred to play Spinazzola or Zalewski on the wrong side rather that give Celik the start. I don’t know if this has been due to poor form, injuries, or simply needing another season to “gel”. Regardless, I don’t think selling Celik at this point will accomplish anything. Keep.
Matias Viña - Remember him? Bournemouth has not exercised their option, so Viña is returning to home base. Unlike other loan moves, however, his time with the Cherries was fairly solid - including an outrageous goal against Chelsea. Why he’s not being renewed, I’m not sure but the Premier League exposure definitely helped us if we choose to cash in. The question is… should we? We are crying out for depth and Viña is a textbook “depth” option. I think we should approach this like Karsdorp - if we get an offer, consider it, otherwise Keep.
Leonardo Spinazzola - On paper, this is our best fullback. In practice, all of us know that the best ability is availability and Leonardo has just… not been there when needed. He is also - critically - the wrong side of 30, which in this position can cost you that turn of pace that is needed. I think, like Ibañez, this is a player we should cash in on now, especially as he enters his final year of contract. Sell.
Nicola Zalewski - Fortunately, this one is easy: Nicola has the distinction of being both young and home-grown, takes no space in registration, and Mourinho loves him. Keep.
Midfielders
Nemanja Matic - Boy was I wrong about Matic. I expected him to be too slow and lumbering for Mourinho’s game, but instead was exactly the midfield veteran we needed - a tall, Serbian Roy Kent. At his age, there is no-one realistically coming in for him, and his contract was automatically extended. Keep.
Bryan Cristante - The unsung hero of this season, Cristante has been consummate professional we all know he can be. Unless we get outrageous money for him (doubtful), this is a Keep.
Edoardo Bove - Like Zalewski, he has been the cream of the crop of youngsters brought through by Mourinho. The argument here is not - should he stay or should he go, but rather should we keep or should we loan. Bove does need minutes… but in his defense, this season he’s gotten them and earned them on the pitch. Keep.
Benjamin Tahirovic - I feel so bad for Benjamin. He was thrown into the fire and while he didn’t do poorly… he didn’t do well either. Like Bove, he needs minutes… unlike Bove, his play hasn’t warranted giving them to him. If there was ever a player who needed a move to Sassuolo, here he is. Sell (with Buy-Back Clause).
Ebrima Darboe - I feel really bad for Darboe. He had the breakout season of his life only two years ago, but has been heavily hampered by injury for the past year and a half and is only returning to training… now. So what do we do with him? He needs minutes to gain back fitness, not just for us, but him and his sharpness. I doubt Sassuolo will bite, but I think a newly promoted team or an Udinese might. Loan.
Gonzalo Villar - Yep, he’s coming back. Like Viña, Getafe is not exercising their option to buy - he never even put on the jersey! - and like Karsdorp he also rather publicly fell out with Mourinho. In this case, though, the falling out was quite a bit more justified, as Gonzalo has proven himself to be both mentally and physically frail, while being technically gifted. There is value in this player, but no team has really been willing to take a risk on him. He has spoken publicly about a willingness to prove himself to Mourinho - I’d be willing to give him that chance, if anything due to a lack of options. Keep.
Attacking Midfielders/Wingers
Lorenzo Pellegrini - Do I need to discuss this one? Keep.
Paulo Dybala - Recent statements have really put the speculation to rest: Dybala appears to want to stay in Italy and in Rome specifically. Keep.
Stephan El Sharaawy - He has demonstrated a willingness to be a servant for the club, even agreeing to a pay-cut with his renewal package. Keep.
Cristian Volpato - See Tahirovic. He desperately needs the minutes his potential deserves. There has been a lot of chatter of him going off to Sassuolo and I think it makes the most sense. Sell (with Buy-Back Clause).
Ola Solbakken - Had his minutes cut drastically by the registration shenanigans due to Zaniolo transfer, but was solid in the league and has room to grow. Keep.
Justin Kluivert - Once again, Kluivert is returning to home-base. While I would like to see us make use of him, he has made it categorically clear that he doesn’t want to be here. Bournemouth are said to be interested, but I see him potentially doing quite well in France or Spain. There’s a particular club in Spain in particular who I think might bite… but more on them later. Sell.
Carles Perez - Like Kluivert, Perez is also returning from a loan (I’m seeing a pattern here), but unlike Kluivert I don’t see anything worthwhile that Perez might bring to this team. Sell.
Strikers
Tammy Abraham - Up until recently, he was the most likely in the squad to be monetized with West Ham and Aston Villa both interested. His ACL tear scuppered that plan, and is now likely to stay in Rome for one more season. I hope it’s redemption for him after a fairly poor season. Keep.
Andrea Belotti - SPEAKING OF POOR SEASONS! I cannot explain exactly what has happened to Belotti, but I’d guess that his poor form in the league is more due to a poor team form than his own. The service and creativity behind him was simply lacking, and without Abraham’s physicality to win long balls he was kind of left to his own devices, pressing defenders and midfielders as needed… which he did. His automatic contract extension was activated, however, so expect to see Andrea in Roma colors next season. Keep.
Eldor Shomurodov - This is a weird one… although this signing has been odd from the get-go. Shomurodov’s loan is likely not going to be made permanent by Spezia - especially if they get relegated - and this season he has been completely been cut out by N’zola’s heroics in front of goal. That said, Abraham’s injury means that there is a good chance Shomurodov will be playing in Roma colors next season - especially if we cannot get a striker in. Keep.

Squad Needs

To my mind - this is including the Aouar and Ndicka transfers - this team needs at least one more player per role.
  1. A Goalkeeper to replace either Rui Patricio as first-choice keeper, or Svilar as second-choice keeper.
  2. An additional Left-Back to replace the departing Spinazzola - preferably left-footed to provide a different kind of player to Zalewski.
  3. An additional fullback as coverage for both wings (either footed).
  4. A deep-lying playmaker who can give coverage for Cristante, either to rest or when he is needed as an additional defender.
  5. A rotation defender who can slot in to give coverage for the injured Kumbulla.
  6. A versatile attacker who can play both at striker, and as a second-striker alongside Dybala for coverage.

Targets

Let’s tackle these in order, shall we?
Goalkeeper
Emil Audero - Audero has been Serie A’s most unsung hero for a few seasons, keeping a mediocre Sampdoria side up when they clearly didn’t deserve to. Sampdoria’s financial woes can be very helpful to us, however, as we could essentially pick him up for a song (ie 6 million or less). There will likely be a bidding war for both Vicario and Carnesecchi this summer, but I’d rather go for solid and less flashy between the sticks.
Dominik Livakovic - This is a PSA: Livakovic still plays for Dinamo Zagreb… somehow. This is a world class, internationally rated goalkeeper that is entering his final year of contract. If we can beat the competition, this would be a great pickup.
Center-Backs
Kostantinos Mavropanos - With Stuttgart facing a relegation playoff, it’s possible that one of Europe’s best young(ish) center backs might be available for a significant discount. With the legacy that Dellas and Manolas have left with this club, having a Greek defender back at the club feels… right!
Diego Llorente - Played on loan with us for six months and impressed when he played. With Leeds just relegated and the player pushing to stay in Rome, it’s possible we get a good discount (there is no way we should spend 18 million on him though).
Fullbacks
Cristiano Biraghi - Biraghi is entering his final year of contract at Fiorentina and has been a solid option everywhere he has played. More defensively minded than Spinazzola or Zalewski, but still willing to run down the left and play a cross - he leads la Viola for progressive carries. Importantly, he is left-footed so he gives us a different play down the left than our two current left-backs.
Kai Wagner - If you don’t rate MLS, feel free to skip but Kai Wagner has been the one of the league’s best left-backs - former Schalke player before moving to Philadelphia and really exploding. Was set to join Leeds but their relegation changes that completely. Their loss is our gain - his contract expires in December, could be an excellent pickup.
Adrien Truffert - Had a breakout season for Rennes last season, who have an excellent eye for talent in recent years. Truffert has been marketed as being available for 15 million this summer - which is perhaps more than we’re willing to spend, but if Spinazzola is sold for a comparable fee, then this might be a solid like-for-like replacement.
Sergio Reguillón - His loan at Atletico has come to an end, and it’s looking like Reguillon is hitting the market once more. Mourinho is supposedly a big fan and they’ve worked well together before. This would likely be a loan, and only after Levy pays up for Ibanez as he’s likely to pull shenanigans. Still - this could be a great, essentially free, pickup.
Wilfried Singo - Last one on this list, Singo’s has had a great few years for Torino but has publicly come out and said he will not sign a new deal. This would be a solid alternative to Karsdorp as they play relatively similarly.
Midfielders
Youri Tielemans - This has been discussed quite a bit - Tielemans is available on a free this summer, and is pure class at deep-lying playmaker. My only concern is that he does not play as defensively as Mourinho might like, but this is still a great player and a great opportunity we should not let slip.
Florian Grillitsch - Like Tielemans, Grillitsch is available for a free this summer. Unlike Tielemans, however, Grillitsch has not had a great season after his move to Ajax this season - mainly due to injury. That said, this is a physical player who can play well with his feet - very much in the mold of a Strootman.
Nikola Moro - Moro has been an unsung, unspoken of, hero of Bologna’s season with Serie A leading stats for progressive passes, carries, and successful through balls. He is currently on loan with an option to buy from Dinamo Moscow and it seems increasingly unlikely that Bologna will use that option. We should absolutely make an offer as Moro has shown himself to be an excellent and reliable midfield option.
Davide Frattesi - Let’s try this again, shall we? This is likely going to happen this summer - with a players plus cash mega deal with Sassuolo. This is not quite the profile I outlined but would provide a dose of dynamism to a rather sluggish midfield.
Strikers
This one is complicated - because the profile I outlined doesn’t exist at our price-range. In an ideal world, we would take advantage of the absurd situation at Chelsea and pickup Kai Havertz on loan as that fits the criteria exactly - Striker and Attacking Midfielder in one (Richarlison also comes to mind). So here’s my best choices although none of them is exactly perfect for what we want.
Sheraldo Becker - One of the lynchpins of the Union Berlin cinderella story, Becker is explosive when he gets going and fits a counterattacking team perfectly. Becker is very publicly available for a cool 20mln this summer, but may be able to be negotiated down as this is last year of contract. The issue is that Becker is more a wingeattacking midfielder than a striker. He has played there in a pinch but it doesn’t play the most to his strengths.
Alfredo Morelos - Morelos has just left the Ibrox at the end of his contract looking for a bigger club, but no-one has bitten yet. He is an out-and-out goal scorer, who played as an 11 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Here, the problem is the reverse - can he play at second striker as a Raumdeuter-type player?
Mauro Icardi - Here we are again, linked with Mauro Icardi for a price as close to “free” as is possible. Is it worth it to bring the Icardi soap opera to a powder keg like Rome? Honestly… if there’s one thing Icardi does, that Icardi always does, is score goals, something we desperately needed this past season. Again, like Morelos though, can he play alongside a number 9 as a second striker?
Last one, which I’m including purely for the banter of it but…
Mario Balotelli - WAIT stop don’t Alt-F4 this just yet. Hear me out. Mourinho is one of the few coaches to get Balotelli to act like an actual footballer, and he has a great rapport with Stephan El Sharaawy. I think these two things in combination might get one last gasp out of Italy’s last truly great talent, with the added benefit that he can play both the positions I outlined above. Sion has crashed out of the Superleague in Switzerland after losing their playoff, so Balotelli will likely leave on a free. I would go for a gamble on him with an Adriano-esque behavior clause that lets us tear up his contract for behavioral issues.
Also, for what it's worth, he's fairly good at Penalties. Which I bring up... for reasons.

Conclusion

Well... that was a long read, kudos for making it to the end. This summer looks to be another summer of transition - but there is a lot to this squad that is salvageable. After the Final, a lot of us were perfectly willing to blow up the team and start over, but that's not my take here. We were let down in that final by our squad depth - when preparing for penalties Mourinho looked at a bench that had Volpato, Tahirovic, Camara, Karsdorp and two goalkeepers - not exactly a stacked bench full of specialists. We can talk dirty play, bad refereeing, and poor penalties all day though, but what killed us at the final hurdle and indeed all season was our lack of depth. Rebuilding the squad is not a way to achieve that. I look forward to your comments and thoughts, and hope to see a good mercato!

2023.06.10 04:19 nosy_bore Passed with a hundred points on my second attempt

I ended up with 100 points, 90 plus 10 bonus points.
About me:
Five years as a software developer, two and a bit as a pentester. Had another life and a zillion careers before then, but went back to university to do a computer science degree. I’ve found four CVEs as part of my job and love to shell things, dump source and find more bugs. I have a family and fuck all free time, but managed to carve out some consistent time in the evenings when the kids were in bed.
Total study time:
Two weeks concentrated, and a couple of hours most nights for about five months as well as day to day pentesting.
First attempt, December 2022:
I’d done maybe 50 of the (old) lab boxes, 30+ proving grounds, lots of the TJ Null list. Started my first attempt at 10am, first shell on AD took less than an hour….then it took me 12 hours to try and privesc on the second AD box after which time I went to bed.. Woke up at 3am, managed a stand-alone box as a break, tried again on the AD set and didn’t get anywhere. Abandoned around 9am. It was a slog. I did not enjoy it and it was extremely depressing.
After the first attempt, I got two months of extra lab time, determined to get the bonus points, which I did. I also redoubled my note taking on privilege escalation in particular, making a cheat sheet of all the techniques outlined in the material all in one place. My previous notes were a mess, comprehensive but badly organised. I also worked my way through a bunch of the new networks as well as the three practice exams over a month, and used them as some very detailed note taking practice.
Second attempt, May 2023: Started at 10am again, had knocked off the AD set by lunch. Got a foothold on a standalone box by 2pm, straightforward privesc (it was in the material). At this point I had enough points to pass (40, 10, 20) but plenty of gas left in the tank. Got another foothold around 4, the box was a bit of a surprise, but nothing that wasn’t in the material. The privesc was right in front of me when I logged in, it just took a bit of time to enumerate properly.
Paused for dinner, then back into it. Got my exploit half working but not quite. Let the proctor know that I was going to use metasploit, finish it off….annnd it didn’t work. Took another break then tried manually again, and finally got my low priv shell. Last box! At this point there were diminishing returns on everything I was trying, so it was time to go to bed. I checked my notes to make sure I had enough detail to work my way back through the chains. Woke up at 6:30, had some breakfast, reset the boxes and started working through all the exploits again. It took about ten minutes to replay the AD set from my notes. My notes were pretty good so it was just a matter of taking all the possible screenshots for every single step of the process and making sure I hadn’t missed any commands or tooling - I had known of someone getting 70 points but being marked down and failing for a missing reference, which sounds like some classic offsec bullshit.
Took about four hours to write the report, thanks to my very detailed note taking. Got the passing email 48 hours later.
Anyway, here are the bullet points: - Enumerate and nmap at least three times, SO many times in every offsec thing ports simply aren’t open the first time. - Reset the boxes, don’t assume offsec have done their job properly. - If you get creds, spray them EVERYWHERE. Do it. - Take notes and screenshots of absolutely everything, try and use a tool like cherry tree or obsidian to keep them as organised as possible. - Use every tool at your disposal, everything from inspect element up. - Take breaks and drink water. - Take your time enumerating, start manually, try the basics and look around before reaching for a script like the PEAS suite (don’t get me wrong, they’re fantastic but verbose) - When you’re studying, if you hit a wall, don’t be afraid to use the forums or discord. You don’t know what you don’t know! Just be sure to take notes if you learn something new
I’m just glad it’s done. It’s supposedly an ‘entry level cert’ which is only partially true, there’s such a huge breadth of content to learn and 900 pages of a PDF doesn’t exactly feel entry level.
Good luck everyone and thanks for being part of this very supportive community.

2023.06.10 04:13 AbbreviationsTop6757 Crmaam 8:3 (The Life of a Crmaam)

Schooling is the most important thing we do in Crmaam In fact, the holy city of Crmaam is centered around a school, which is where the holy Tree is.
As such, we must build our own Crmaam education system, for all Crmaam children, This should done, not only to avoid critical theory , but to provide a fully Crmaam childhood experience. All children, regardless of who their parents are, are taught in the same schools from the -1st to the 5th grade. The school is not in 1 building, even in colder climates. Each classroom should be a separate building. The school should be placed in a natural setting, where kids are able to walk into the wilderness directly from the school property.
When students in Crmaam elementary schools walk from class to class, they should go by themselves and not walk in a line. Likewise, all Crmaam elementary students do not wear uniforms. Elementary schools in Crmaam are day schools, and are co-ed.
In elementary and middle school, children learn certain subjects. The students learn Math, English, Ithkuil and other subjects. In math, the main focus is on using numbers and creating the best possible curriculum, and also showing why math things are a certain way. The sciences are relatively unchanged. In English class, non-Crmaam books written after 1923 are not rea, to avoid critical theory. In history class, history is taught from a non-CRT viewpoint. CRT words, such as “racist” are not used. All students are required to learn three languages in school, the dominant language, the indigenous language, and Ithkuil.
The school is fully trilingual, with students expected to know 3 languages by the end of the fifth grade. The majority language(e.g. English) is used for math, English, Science, Physical Education, secular field trips, and events that involve interacting with the non-Crmaam. The indigenous language (such as Ptjanjanjara) is used for history, geography, art, drama, and Indigenous Language. Finally, Ithkuil is used for Crmaam and school events, Crmaam field trips, and for civics class. Civics class teaches them about Crmaam values, and encourages obedience to the Miquon way.
Physical education is mostly focused on emphasizing the values of teamwork, and risk-taking. In addition, all elementary students take All students get at least an hour of recess every day. At recess, the students play on the playground equipment. If a kid is injured safety rules are not added, because safety rules tend to be cumulative. • And much more!

Module 2: Secrets to Killer Leads

Discover how to captivate your prospects and keep them reading with established and proven techniques. Take your leads from fluffy to first-rate as Kim shares the 6 types that keep prospects reading, how to open with a bang and what NOT to do!
But that’s not all. You’ll also…
  • Find out 5 ways to write killer leads again and again.
  • Hear Kim break down one of her own successful leads (and discover her A-list copy secrets)… plus review the PDF provided of the entire sales page promo.
  • Watch a “no-holds-barred’ critique of 3 leads submitted by Kim’s copywriting mentees and uncover golden nuggets of wisdom to apply to your own writing.
  • And much more!

Module 3: The Truth About Fascinations

Fascinations might just be one of the best secret weapons in sales copy…if they’re deployed effectively! In this module, Kim not only explains what they are and why they’re so important, she gives you one of the most comprehensive explanations of how to write them you’ll find anywhere. Here’s just a glimpse of what you’ll discover:

  • Ways to boost your average order value with upsells, cross-sells and down-sells.
  • How to create a guarantee that feels ‘iron-clad’ and risk-free.

Module 6: Crafting Compelling Emails (or Lifts)

The best online promo in the world is only as good as the email that drives traffic to it. Find out the most effective techniques and tactics that let you “lift” your prospect from the subject line of an email to its body copy to sales page, VSL, or other web page it’s linked to. Here’s just a glimpse of what you’ll discover in this module:

2023.06.10 03:41 Achilleszero01 Question regarding Reconsideration for UST

Context: I could not pay the reservation fee for UST and was stripped of my slot. I applied for recon and I got this email yesterday. Does this mean I have a slot UST once I pay the reservation fee?

2023.06.10 03:30 Shayan_Shiva What records are unlikely to be broken, ever in science?

🔬📚🌌🌟🧪 Science is an ever-evolving field that continually pushes the boundaries of knowledge and discovery. While it's difficult to predict the future with absolute certainty, there are certain scientific records that are considered highly unlikely to be broken due to our current understanding of the laws of nature and the limits of technology. Here are a few examples of records that are unlikely to be surpassed:

1️⃣ Speed of Light: The speed of light in a vacuum, approximately 299,792 kilometers per second, is considered a fundamental constant in physics. According to our current understanding of the universe, it is highly improbable that any object with mass can surpass or even equal the speed of light. This principle, known as Einstein's theory of relativity, forms the basis of modern physics and has been extensively tested and supported by experimental evidence.

2️⃣ Absolute Zero: Absolute zero is the lowest theoretically attainable temperature, at which atoms and molecules come to a minimum level of thermal energy. It is defined as 0 Kelvin or -273.15 degrees Celsius. Achieving absolute zero is a monumental challenge as it requires removing all heat energy from a system, reaching a state where molecular motion ceases entirely. While scientists have achieved extremely low temperatures, getting to absolute zero is considered unattainable due to the laws of thermodynamics.

3️⃣ Planck Length and Time: The Planck length (about 1.6 x 10^-35 meters) and Planck time (about 5.4 x 10^-44 seconds) are incredibly small units of length and time, respectively. These values represent the smallest measurable scales in the known universe according to our current understanding of physics. It is unlikely that we will be able to probe or measure anything smaller or shorter than the Planck scale due to the limitations imposed by the uncertainty principle and our technological capabilities.

4️⃣ Age of the Universe: The estimated age of the universe, currently believed to be around 13.8 billion years, is another record that is unlikely to be broken. Determining the age of the universe involves intricate calculations based on observations of cosmic microwave background radiation, the expansion rate of the universe, and the formation of celestial objects. While refinements in our measurements and theories may lead to small adjustments, it is highly improbable that the age of the universe will change significantly in the future.

🔍🌌 While these records are considered highly unlikely to be broken based on our current scientific understanding, it's important to acknowledge that science is a dynamic and evolving discipline. New discoveries, paradigm shifts, and advancements in technology may challenge our current understanding and open up possibilities that were previously unimaginable. The boundaries of scientific knowledge continue to expand, and what seems unbreakable today may become the foundation for groundbreaking discoveries tomorrow.

🌟🔬 Embracing the wonder and potential of scientific exploration, we continue to push the boundaries of what we know, challenging the limits and striving to unravel the mysteries of the universe. The pursuit of knowledge and the quest to break records are intrinsic to the human spirit and the essence of scientific endeavor.

2023.06.10 03:09 Content-Weird-5169 In-depth analysis of the universe system in "Three-Body 3"(4)

From Liu Cixin's description of this fish, the following preliminary conclusions can be drawn: 1. This kind of fish comes from the depths of the black hole, and the black hole is likely to be the "gate" of the big universe. 2. The spacecraft that this fish takes is extremely advanced. 3. The attack power of this fish is very strong. What is this fish? It is the "dark civilization" from other big universes.
  1. Why did "dark civilizations" from other universes invade the "Pastoral Age" universe? Is this your imagination, or Liu Cixin's setting?
A: This is Liu Cixin's setting. Because he put forward the following principles in "Three-Body 2". See page 5 of "Three-Body 2": First, survival is the first need of civilization; second, civilization continues to grow and expand, but the total amount of matter in the universe remains the same.
Sooner or later, civilizations will consume all the matter in their own universe, so they will inevitably need to find a "new home", and the "glutton fish" is a super civilization that has lost its "home" and needs a "new home". It is the existence of this kind of civilization that makes the "pastoral" universe inevitably become a new "dark forest".
This is logically inevitable. From this, we can see the rigor of Liu Cixin's Three-Body Problem series.
10.
Do you mean that there are also dark forests between different big universes on the supermembrane?
Answer: According to Liu Cixin's setting on the fifth page of "Three-Body Problem 2": First, survival is the first need of civilization; second, civilization continues to grow and expand, but the total amount of matter in the universe remains the same.
There is also a dark forest between different big universes on the "Super Membrane". A "glutton fish invasion" will occur. And the "Glutton fish invasion" led to the dimensionality reduction of the universe's "Pastoral Age". Then the universe is destroyed. Then the escaped civilization (that is, the new "glutton fish") went to invade other big universes. The cycle continues.
It's a pity that according to the setting of "Three-Body Problem", such a dark answer must be deduced.
  1. If a certain universe is invaded by "glutton fish", can the civilizations in this universe "unite" and speak out as one?
Answer: The premise of "unity" is communication. For example, if aliens invade the earth, it is possible for all civilizations on the earth to unite. Because the earth civilization can achieve effective communication. However, if the scale of the universe is too large, and simultaneous communication cannot be achieved between civilizations, then it is impossible for these civilizations to unite together, because a "chain of suspicion" appears between them. So, the unity of this universe depends on, first, the scale of this universe is not too large, second, the speed of light is close to infinite, and third, there are no high-dimensional fragments. If the "glutton fish" encounters fierce resistance, then the most effective way they can take is to create "high-dimensional fragments", that is, to prevent the "quantum instant communication effect" and "close to infinite speed of light". Only in this way can the "glutton fish" survive in this new big universe.
  1. What if the "glutton fish" had not met fierce resistance and wiped out all the aborigines?
Even if the "glutton fish" did not encounter fierce resistance, all civilizations in the new universe would be wiped out. They still have to face the invasion of other more powerful "glutton fish". The invasion will not end. Therefore, the dimension reduction of this universe will not end, and this universe will inevitably go to the road of destruction.
13. In Liu Cixin's "Three-Body Problem 3", did the small universe appear only after the solar system was destroyed more than 10 million years ago?
Answer: No, civilizations capable of creating small universes existed from the very beginning. However, these civilizations have two options:
One, to find a new big universe, but that new big universe may not be a paradise, and invading a new big universe will cost a lot of money; two, continue to live in such a universe, and continue to enjoy it through dimensionality reduction resources of this universe. Like in a flock, a sheep is infected with a terrible germ. Some bacteria choose to infect other sheep, while others stay on the sheep and consume the life of the sheep. Macro and micro, many times, are actually similar.
  1. Wouldn't it be easier to connect the "small universe" created by a super civilization with its own "original big universe"? Can they connect with other big universes?
Answer: Because these civilizations are more familiar with the "star map" of their original universe, "black hole position", "physical laws", "mathematical laws" and "cosmological constants", it must be easy for them to connect with their "original big universe" of. And it is very possible that the relationship between these small universes and their "original big universe" is like "two bubbles stuck together" (this is still two different concepts from "big bubble" and "small bubble"). It is not easy to invade other big universes, even the newly born ones. It needs to stay away from the original macrocosm, find a new home in "Nothingness", and then stick to the new macrocosm. This process is likely to consume a huge amount of energy.
15. Is there any evidence of "other universes" "beyond our universe" in real life?
Answer: Yes. An inconclusive evidence is that, for example, the dark energy hypothesis is not the only but the most popular explanation for the observed results of the accelerated expansion of the universe today. Dark energy (also known as dark energy) is an imperceptible form of energy that fills space and increases the rate at which the universe expands. Recent observations show that the so-called "dark energy" did not appear with the birth of the universe, but popped out about 5 billion years after the birth of the universe; in the early days after the big bang, the universe experienced a rapid expansion phase . After that, due to the very close distance between dark matter and matter, under the action of gravity, the expansion rate of the universe began to slow down. But around five billion years ago, dark energy emerged. Its appearance has caused the accelerated expansion of the universe. Some scholars believe that this clearly shows that dark energy is not inherent in our universe, but comes from the outside of our universe, that is, the "outside universe". Of course, as Li Miao, a professor of physics at the University of Science and Technology of China, said: "There are as many dark energy models as there are dark energy experts." It is only one of several theories that dark energy is brought by the outer universe. However, Liu Cixin's cosmic system is likely to be influenced by such theories, that is, there are universes beyond this universe, and when other universes forcibly open the cosmic gate of this universe, the cosmic gate may swallow some dark energy to enter .

2023.06.10 02:54 usa4cc Acceleration & Shudder Issue: 2022 Nissan Rogue 1.5L Turbo

TL;DR Has anyone experienced intermittent "judder" or jerking with the 2022 Rogue Turbo while driving at very low speeds? The issue happens more often than not. Is this normal or should I take my car to the dealer?
I have a 2022 Rogue SV AWD, which I bought new fifteen months ago. Lately it's been shaking when driving at low speeds, at least some times; it's a little inconsistent but at this point is happening more often than not. Basically, it feels like the car is moving backwards for a split second. It happens mostly when I'm accelerating from a stop especially when I need to accelerate slowly bc of traffic, and also when the car is moving at very low speeds. If I'm in a parking lot or in stop and go traffic and trying to move 10 MPH the car will consistently jerk back and forth at varying intervals of time. Believe this has happened a few times when accelerating at faster speeds as well, say while on a hill, but need to confirm that; primarily an issue when driving at around 7-14 MPH.
A second issue is that it seems to be very bumpy, but not when driving on the highway; like sometimes the road will look completely smooth but it feels like the road is very bumpy. This seems to happen when I'm driving in town, at say 15-35 MPH. When I bought the car a year ago, it was very very smooth. This might be normal and I'm just noticing it more but it would make sense that it could be related to the issue above. Both of these seem to be the "judder" caused by the Nissan JATCO CVT transmission even though this car is supposed to have the updated JATCO CVT-X which uses a chain instead of a belt and has 30% less friction apparently; in theory, it should reduce the judder issue because you have less heat being generated. This link from Nissan for a previous Rogue (and similar bulletins exist for other Nissan vehicles with CVT) says: "The customer reports a transmission judder (shake, shudder, single or multiple bumps or vibration)." https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/SB-10075090-5448.pdf. Shaking/shuddering and multiple bumps or vibration describes what I am experiencing.
Finally, when I'm on the highway, it seems like at least sometimes I have to push the accelerator more than I should for the car to accelerate. I've read similar issues online so it's possible I'm imagining this. But what happened today was more serious and freaked me out: I was in a slow moving lane (possibly 35 but probably 45 MPH) and tried to accelerate to safely switch lanes; the car in the lane over was definitely going faster but I had ample distance, so I switched lanes and immediately accelerated. Eventually, I was FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL and desperately waiting for what felt like two or three seconds for my car to move faster, so the car behind me wouldn't have to hit their brakes (which they either did or almost had to). I've heard there is a thing called "turbo lag" but is it actually this bad? If I'm already driving 45 MPH I don't see why flooring the gas pedal should take two or three seconds for the car to drive faster. It's basic physics: the car is already moving so there is much less friction. FWIW, I was driving the car in Auto mode, which is how I always drive; ECO mode IMHO on this car isn't safe bc there are times when you need that extra power like merging onto a freeway and the acceleration on ECO mode is very slow. Also, I don't think I was experiencing "Limp Mode" and I wasn't using ProPilot Assist so it's not a cruise control safety feature. I try to drive safely and usually don't accelerate when changing lanes as much as today, so maybe this is normal and I just haven't experienced this before. But in the past, I've had decent acceleration on the highway without depressing the pedal nearly as much; by the time I was flooring it I would have expected the vehicle to be going very fast very quickly, since the car was already going 45 MPH. It was basically accelerating at a snail's pace or at least felt that way.
From everything described here, it seems like an issue but I'm hesitating to take it to the dealer for two reasons:
  1. I'm a recent college graduate and this is my first car. I've heard horror stories about dealers ripping people off and while I take it to the dealer for maintenance, I'm a little concerned that they might charge an exorbitant diagnostics fee which I would need to pay if the problem was deemed normal.
  2. I've recently tried to use the brake as little as possible when parking, meaning holding the accelerator at very low speeds. I don't think this is the case, but could this be normal for the Turbo engine and/or Nissan CVT? Specifically the first issue: That you can't drive at very low speeds without the car shuddering/shaking back and forth. Is there anyway this is normal because you can't push the accelerator very slowly on these vehicles? It could also be an ECM (Engine Control Module) thing, where because I've adjusted how I drive at low speeds the ECM has to be reprogrammed. Not sure whether that is something that will happen automatically or if taking it to the dealer would be the best course here as well.
I basically want to know am I crazy or is there actually something wrong with my car? Seems like it could be a transmission issue, Turbo variable ratio issue, or Mass Airflow Sensor, but maybe it's completely normal. Comments from someone with the new 2022 or 2023 Turbo would be especially welcome. Thank you!!!

2023.06.10 02:48 BatteredAndBedamned My marriage relationship is over and someday I will get a divorce

I am just venting into the void of cyberspace. I have already started seeing a therapist and I have a few very dear friends that I lean on when I need them.
I (34m) have been married to my wife (34m) just shy of 10 years. We started dating in collage but have know each other since before high school. Looking back on things now I realize that I just wasn't mature enouph to get married when I did. Our relationship has foundered on our lack of communication and perpetual neglect.
Backstory
We met in grade school but, later attended the same 2 year university. My wife aggressively perused me after we reconnected in collage and I was in love. I can remember that I have always had a burning desire to be in a fulfilling and passionate relationship with a partner and equal. I was raised in a very conservative family and so I rarely if ever perused a girl/woman frivolously even during my teenage years. Naturally, when we married I had only ever been intimate with a single long term girlfriend in high school before my wife. My wife's mission in life was to have me and thus is where my immaturity first lead me astray, I had not learned how to be cold and hard when needed and, I was terrified of dying alone. Our dating relationship was rocky, my wife has been extremely manipulative and abusive from the very beginning but, I could not see it. My wife used every asset at her disposal to keep me and we had a very passionate and intimate relationship full of physical and emotional ups and downs. Everyone in my life that knew the two of use could already see the writing on the wall but, I would not listen. I was clinging to my one, and only chance from my perspective, at having a life long loving partner and friend. After a time I proposed and then things started to change, even though she did not have the ring I had effectively become hers and she no longer needed to peruse and conquer me. The intimacy stopped and the passion faded and my burning desire to be with her was left unrequited. I thought that it was just a phase before we married but, alas after only sharing our wedding night together our physical relationship ended.
Marriage
A few months before we married I took my first job after collage and moved a few hours away to start working. We married a few months later and moved in together in a 2 bedroom apartment about 1 hours commute from my first job. The first year of our marriage was very hard. My new wife would not reciprocate my advances and she also started to loose interest in me romantically. She would accuse me of only wanting sex which cut so deep, to this day I do not think I could be intimate with her again even if she tried to initiate, we have slept in separate beds, except for rare occasions, ever since. My wife had attained her prize and now she was looking for something else to do with her life and I was left on the shelf. I was never violent and I did my best to be mindful of her needs and the few times we have had real conversations about our relationship over the years I have attempted to incorporate the feed back to better meet her needs. I am not a perfect person, far from it and I have neglected stuff around our homes over the years the biggest one being the cleaning and our pets. I pay for everything, and put in most of the mental and emotional work of our marriage, she has been attending collage to get advance degrees so someday she can start a career and contribute to our family, this is the challenge she chose for her life after a year or two of me saying we could not afford stuff that she wanted. She demands many material things where as I can get by with very little and so over the years we have almost always been broke as I try to keep up with her demands and I have spent very little of all the money I have made in this life on myself, I have always and continue to saving for my retirement though.
Today
I have finally come to understand that my wife will never want me the way I wish she did and will never attempt to meet my needs no matter how many times I attempt to tell her what those needs are. I have been a fool, thinking that if I was only good enouph she would desire me. I know that she does care about me in her own way but, it is not enouph for me. I am unwilling to just dump her and walk out the door, she should be finishing collage soon and starting a career. Once she has a full time job and a means to support herself, I am done and gone.
Sometimes I sit on a bench in a park looking at the big city we live outside of and burn with a desire to rip the world into oblivion down to its very atoms. The pain of being lonely in marriage is so terrible, I have no words to adequately describe it. I am still terrified of dying alone but, I now know that I would be better off single and able to look for a person that could truly be my partner than I am spending energy attempting to breath life back into this dead relationship.
I am willing to share more of my story, I have glossed over many many details in this very short summary but, I didn't want to try and write a book in a single post. Thank you all, who read this to the end, it means more to me that I could ever possibly convey to you with words or actions.

2023.06.10 01:37 Fresh-Task-4232 First Year iBSc. Honours Comp. Sci Schedule

First Year iBSc. Honours Comp. Sci Schedule
I need 120 credits to graduate so roughly 30 per year and even without the 6 credit geography course I was still 5 credits short (25 credits) with such a hectic schedule. All while a lucky friend in accounting has a much lighter course load with Mondays and Fridays off and she earns 30 credits for it.
Is this normal for a first year cs student? A weekly burnout seems inevitable. Is there anything I should see if I can change or general tips?
I'm also considering seeing if I can change to mainstream comp sci. and not the international degree since I've heard it's better but again I kind of don't know what I'm doing.

2023.06.10 01:25 Affectionate-Yak2965 Accepted to 6 Canadian Medical Schools: Guide to Canadian School Applications

Hi Everyone 😊 I was going to wait to make a post closer to the peak of the application season but I've been seeing people post about starting their applications so I figured now was as good a time as any.
Some house keeping things first because I know it does provide a lot of context in posts like this. My stats were 3.95 OMSAS GPA, 517 MCAT (129/128/130/130) and 4Q Casper. I have a research based MSc, 2 first author publications, a few conference presentations and some awards. I also worked as a research assistant at the time of my application. IP in Ontario and a black applicant.
I was accepted at UofT, Mac, Queens, uCalgary, uAlberta and UBC. Waitlisted at uOttawa. I did not apply to any other school in Canada. Didn't apply to Western because by the time the deadline came around, I really did not have it in me to write 8 essays so I figured I would risk it as save myself the money.
For all schools except Queens, I applied under the black student stream. A note about the black stream because I know it sometimes gets a lot of hate and some students are weary of applying. If you are black and feel like you connect with that part of yourself, please use this stream! I can only speak for myself but I know there have been times where I was underestimated or judged because I was black. Applying through this stream ATTEMPTS to level the playing field by making sure your application is judged by people who look like you. Most other non-minority applicants already have a panel that looks like them so why shouldn't you? Up until 2018, Queens even still had a policy on the books, enforced or not, that stated they did not accept black students to medical school so just know that institutionalized racism is alive and well so don't miss out on the opportunity to participate in solutions. Applying through this stream is even more work because you need to write an extra essay so don't feel shame in using this program.
Also, please know that you are not defined by being accepted or not. I know it probably sounds pretentious coming from someone who got in but I found myself through the application cycle really being affected by potentially not becoming a doctor. As someone of faith, I truly believe everything happens for a reason so I decided to put in the best application I could and let the chips fall where they may. If I did not get in, I was going to become a genetic counsellor and really start living the rest of my life instead of waiting for med school to upend my life. You are more than any application and a rejection does not make you any less worthy.
Okay back to the guide. Note: These are not my actual entries just to avoid any plagiarism. Every example I give is just an example. Also, I had 2 of my friends read every single thing I submitted, twice, to make sure what made sense to me when I wrote it also made sense to them. To avoid burnout, I would suggest reusing as many entries as you can. For UBC, Calgary and Alberta, I copied and pasted and then just cut to the character limit so that I was not re-inventing the wheel.
I figured the best way to make this post was to go school by school because my application to each school was slightly different.
  1. UBC since it was the first one I submitted: I believe my AGPA was 92.67 and I applied at the regular deadline. For the research and publications, I added literally everything. Journal articles, poster presentations, my thesis (MSc and 4th year). For activities, I leaned into the non-traditional ones (e.g I showed leadership by being an older sibling) and really focused on quantitive measures of success (e.g how much money I raised or how many people I trained) then ended with how the activity improved me. eg "I collaborated with 10 MSc students to organize the 2015 career day. We had weekly meetings to discuss planning and delegate activities. I learned to combine different viewpoints to achieve a common goal." Please have fun with the diversity of experiences section. I literally talked about teaching myself how to use a research program and learning to dance. I also left the high performance section blank. If you have something to add there, great! If not, it does not make or break your application. For UBC, I really think they value realness so be yourself because that is literally the best you can do.
  2. uCalgary was next: GPA was 4.0 because a grade from my MSc could replace my lowest grade from undergrad. This school was a little tricker because there is just one section where you can add top 10 activities. I just selected the top 10 things I had a lot of hours for and was passionate about and added them here. This included research projects/publications where I focused on how I overcame struggles with my project, my first research experience etc. My descriptions were similar to what I wrote for my UBC entries but in the experience impact, I really dug deep and spoke about how I struggled in each role and how I leveraged the people around me to fix problems. I also took the time to talk about why I involved myself in the activity in the first place. So my love for teaching led me to tutor.
  3. Alberta: GPA 4.0 I took activities from my Calgary and UBC applications and filled up this application. Please take the essays seriously, I know I really did. Do not minimize your experiences/challenges. I ended up writing about something I really did not think anyone would care about but it really shaped who I was. I started university at 16 years old and it was very hard for me but it shaped who I was. I also spoke about discrimination I felt as a black student. But do not forget to make the essays positive as well. Yes talk about how these situations were hard but also talk about how they made you resilient, strong and eager to help others. No one wants to finish reading an essay and feel depressed. Show them that you overcame these challenges and it strengthened your zeal to become a physician even more.
Ontario schools: In general I approached each ABS entry in my own modified XYZ method. This just means I provided details by quantifying my impact (numbers) and then talked about what I did. If I had the characters, I spoke about what I learnt. I also wrote down words that represented all the canmeds and spread them throughout my sketch. eg communicate, collaborate, lead, advocate, professional, mentor, manage, reliable, responsible, teamwork, serve, respect. I made sure I used these words when I could. I also used short form to save character limits such as pt instead of patient. Internt'l instead of international. Lastly, I tried to have a good spread of things in each section. I even included 2 entries in the other section.
Some examples
a. enrolled 50 pts in research studies by calling & consenting them, respecting confidentiality and explaining studies
b. Raised $2.5k for breast cancer research by working with 10 community volunteers to plan a bake sale.
c. Taught science to 15 high school students to increase their grades. Taught me how to teach people at their own pace.
  1. UofT: In your UofT essays both the short ones and the long one, make sure you are covering your 4 UofT clusters. I essentially covered 2 clusters in one short essay and 2 in the other and then hit all 4 in the long essay. Even if you just mention something that points to a cluster. It might seem hard to combine them in one activity so I would suggest picking an activity where is is relatively easy. I do not know how they grade the essays but I wanted to be safe and get all the points possible in case they grade the clusters in each essay. For the long essay, I would suggest also writing it as a story. I started with what got me into the activity, what I enjoyed about it, how I struggled, how I overcame, how it made me want to be a doctor and how I use the things I learnt in my day to day life.
5, 6 and 7. Ottawa, Mac and Queens, you really don't have more to do apart from the ABS and the black stream essay if applicable so your interview will be a major part of your application
General note about interviews: I am very good at interviews so I was not worried but you can practice and improve. I videoed myself a lot just to hear if I had any words I kept saying (for me it was I think...) or see if I was keeping eye contact. I would also treat each interview like a conversation with a friend. I like talking about random things so the MMIs were my favourite. Calm down and breath before you start answering each question. Also really think about your responses before you speak and have faith in your answer. There is usually no wrong or right answer so that also means you can change your mind when presented with new information, I did that a lot. Do not panic if you have technical difficulties, I had them at UBC, Mac, Calgary and Alberta. I still got in, trust me it's normal. Lastly, I started and ended each station with a big smile and actually tried to enjoy the interviews.
Now to answer a question I know some people may have, what school will I be attending. I am actually going to be attending a school in the US in the fall so you can checkout my other post to hear about that application process.

Good luck this application cycle and please pm me if you have any questions 😊

2023.06.10 00:56 ThatWasMyChangeJar Fed up with my 12-year-old and unsure how to help him.

I have 3 kids very close in age. My youngest is 12 (m). I am a single mom who works 50 hours a week to make ends meet. Their dad lives out of state and while they see him a few times a year, the parenting is all left to me. I am stretched thin between parenting, my job, my 12- step program, and the kids' activities (jiu-jitsu, wrestling, track, baseball, physical therapy for my son, etc).
My youngest son has been getting in trouble at school. He was suspended a few months ago for fighting. He happened to be suspended during state testing so he had to go to school every morning and then I would have to leave work at 10 am every day to check him out of school. He took no accountability for the fight and denied it was him. My son is 6 feet tall and dyes his hair in crazy colors. There is NO WAY they got the wrong kid for the fight.
Just today he was suspended again. Once more, I had to leave work and meet with the principal. Long story short, he and a couple of friends were picking on a substitute teacher, and my son decided to shove a broken pencil into the classroom door lock. This locked all of the students and teacher out of the class, while all of their belongings were inside the class. They had to call an emergency locksmith out to get the door open so students could get their belongings before the end of the day. The class was moved to the library, and the substitute teacher's plans were locked in the room as well.
My son seems to show no remorse or concern, which is the most upsetting part. I am so frustrated and feel like I am failing him as a mom. I try to get as much one-on-one time with my kids as possible and stay current in their lives, but it's hard with so much on my plate. I don't want my kids to repeat mistakes that I made in life that led me down a very difficult path that took me a very long time to get away from.
I have taken his phone and Xbox (again.) He will be participating in a community clean up for 4 hours tomorrow as well as completing some of my chores around the house this weekend. But I am not sure what to do from here.
He has also had issues at home with lying and has taken money from me before. He is getting terrible grades in most of his classes. I have tried punishment, I have tried taking away his privileges, having heart-to-heart conversations with him, and sharing some of my experiences as a teenager and preteen with him. I am not sure what to do to help him make better decisions.
Any and all advice, or personal experiences are welcome.

Sincerely,
A defeated, tired mother

2023.06.10 00:36 littlekingpaul Does benzo withdrawal cause brain damage?

I've heard cold turkey withdrawals are bad for your brain and the physical withdrawals may be so severe that it causes damage. Also about kindling, which means every time you try to quit and then go back to them, will make the next attempt at stopping more difficult. There's little science on this but there seems to be a belief that that may be possible and happening.
I've tried to stop benzo use close to 9 times, sometimes tapering down at a ridiculous rate, and I'd have to go back to normal, as well as going to rehab and completely stop three times.
Idk I take 2mg daily and often I'll take an extra 2mg or 4mg. I used to take 10+mg of xanax half of the time and at least 4mg the other half, when I wanted and needed to be more sober lol. My brain definitely doesn't feel the same as it used to, I feel less intelligent and experience significant memory loss and can't remember things chronologically that well.

2023.06.10 00:28 lavenpuffin It took me years to accept that I have special needs

It took me years to accept that I have special needs
I'm 19 and I was diagnosed with autism 16 years ago, in May of 2007. They would have diagnosed me even earlier, but the doctors wanted to wait until I was at least 3 years old to diagnose me. It's weird because I showed very obvious symptoms and people can and have gotten diagnosed at 18 months to 2 years old.
I was always seen as stupider, innocent and more child-like than most people at school. Medical professionals didn't think that I would graduate with anything past a certificate of completion. However, I silghtly proved them wrong by graduating with a general diploma.
It's not an academic diploma, but it's better than a certificate of completion. I suck really badly at math, so in high school, I had to take general mathematics instead of academic or advanced mathematics.
This is probably partially due to the fact that in junior high, I had a math teacher who is NOTORIOUSLY bad at teaching math. I sometimes wonder if I'd have been in academic math if I had a competent teacher before I reached high school. Your marks at the end of junior high determine which level of math you should take in high school.
In grades 10 and 11, I thought that I could just work at most normal jobs, but I now realise that this is not the case. Even when I had a Walmart position where I essentially just put a bunch of items back in their properly designed locations on the store's shelves, I couldn't do it fast enough. I had troubles with following some verbal instructions, too.
My manager hated me so much that he harassed me and stopped giving me shifts altogether, but without actually firing me. Everyone else at Walmart liked me, though.
Even in grade 12, there was one incident when my art teacher was giving everyone instructions about what to do for our art project. I didn't understand a single instruction, meanwhile other people around me had understood.
I didn't even understand when a friend had explained it to me. They actually physically helped me do some of it before I understood what we were supposed to do.
Another example is that I have troubles reading a map. Unless Google Maps is physically showing me and telling me where to go, I have a lot of troubles with reading maps or understanding directions given to me.
I currently reside in a homeless shelter that is part of a proper organisation to help people. They intend to send me to a small apartment complex with staff members who are available to help you. It's a place designed for disabled people.
They also intend to get me help through using a service for autistic individuals to help me get work.

2023.06.10 00:19 lavenpuffin It took me years to accept that I have special needs

2023.06.09 23:42 vanness69 Triple or combined? (It’s too late now)

I told my parents about the existence of combined science and triple science just now. She doesn’t know the details of them before. In her point of view I am a student who can get a 9 in all subjects, but in reality the most 9 I can get is 4 subjects (physics, math and Chinese(confirmed)). I am the type of student that is not on top of the school but also over the average.
When she learnt that combined science can only count two best science subjects, she was super mad at me, she said I had a choice on triple science but I did not because I can’t be bothered to, however, in my mind only people from set 1 can choose triple, and any set other than that can only do combined (I’m in set 2), which is not true. After watching some YouTube she got even more mad. She thought my talent being wasted as some ‘YouTube video’ suggests that doing combined will ruin your life by limiting your university choice, which is true, but in her point of view my life is totally ruined and I can do nothing but to flip some burgers. She is the type of person who exaggerates a lot, however, for my very first time, I swear at my parents and left for an hour. I would never imagine doing such things, not even swearing. This time it had gone on my nerve and I left the house.
I know it’s too late now, but no one had given me a choice of triple or combined. If I had the choice, I would’ve pick triple for sure, and what I will do is study for an extra two days and wala I just got myself another gcse grade.
Our family is in a really intense situation now. Please help
