So tractor Supply has a policy to match prices with competitors. There's a wagon on sale for $30 cheaper at Lowes in Defiance and Warsaw (not in stock in Fort Wayne at the moment). I went to the NE store and they refused the price match, saying that Defiance isn't local (it's 35 miles away, under an hour from that store, and in an adjacent county).
I ended up not purchasing the wagon. There is no mention of locality on the online policies. Is it reasonable of them to not honor the price match policy?

(Friday, June 9, 2023) – As a part of multi-faceted and continued efforts to address gun violence, Mayor Malik D. Evans today released a Gun Trace Data Report compiled by Brady.
The City commissioned the national, nonpartisan organization in late 2021 to conduct an in-depth analysis of firearms used in crimes and recovered by the Rochester Police Department between 2012 and 2022. Brady utilized data from the Rochester Police Department (RPD) and its open data portal, which serves as an open resource for information about RPD crime data.
The 28-page report, redacted by the ATF before its release, provides a high-level overview of crime guns across the country, and dives deeper into details around the 6,036 crime guns recovered in the City of Rochester between 2012 and 2022.
The Tiahrt Amendment to the 2003 federal appropriations bill restricts the ATF from publicly releasing disaggregated gun trace data, which is why Rochester’s report has been redacted.
“This report synthesizes 11 years’ worth of gun trace data,” said Mayor Evans. “I appreciate the work of our police officers and the RPD’s data team, and the work of the Brady team to make this information digestible and actionable.”
“In addition, I want to celebrate the efforts of community leaders – specifically the Roc Against Gun Violence Coalition and City Councilmember Willie Lightfoot – for championing this project through several years,” he said.
Rochester is among a small number of states and cities to release its crime gun trace data.
"We applaud Rochester for leading the initiative in identifying the source of crime guns in their city, and we encourage other cities and localities to follow suit," said Kris Brown, president of Brady. "Gun violence plagues every city and community in the U.S., and local officials need individualized solutions to address this epidemic. This report provides critical information about the characteristics, trends, and gun industry sources of crime guns recovered in Rochester, which is necessary to craft evidence-based solutions.”
The report notes that, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Uniform Crime Report, Rochester’s overall crime rate falls below the national average. However, Rochester’s homicides, especially firearm-involved homicides, rose between 2019 and 2022 — and at a higher rate than many cities of far greater size.
The report illustrates:

• The majority of Rochester’s crime guns come from out-of-state sources
  • 57% were purchased out-of-state
  • 43% were purchased from dealers within New York State
• A small percentage of firearms dealers sell a disproportionate number of Rochester’s crime guns
  • The majority of guns recovered by the RPD come from just 10% of dealers, and 28% of crime guns recovered by the RPD were traced to just 1% of the dealers
• Most of the dealers that sold the highest numbers of crime guns are located in Monroe County
  • Of the crime guns sold by the “top 30” crime gun dealers, 53% came from dealers located in Monroe County; 13% are/were located elsewhere within New York State; and 34% are/were located out-of-state
• Dealers with the most traces tend to be independent businesses, but chain stores are also significant sources of crime guns
• Crime guns circulate long after their dealers go out of business
• Ghost guns are on the rise

“Although there are currently no gun dealers currently operating within the city of Rochester, the city bears the brunt of the impact of gun violence in our community,” said Councilmember Willie Lightfoot. “This report underlines the importance of partnerships across jurisdictions so we can work together to address the supply side of crime guns.”
In addition, the report identifies those dealers that sold the most guns with a short “time-to-crime" (the time elapsed from retail sale to recovery by law enforcement), and identifies those dealers that sold multiple weapons that were used in homicides in Rochester.
“Even with all the information this gun trace data report provides, it will not solve gun crime in Rochester,” said Mayor Evans. “It is, however, another important piece of the puzzle, and we will use this information along with other tools and strategies to continue our fight against deadly gun violence.”
The City of Rochester continues to leverage its strong working partnerships with local, state and federal law enforcement entities, including the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, U.S. Marshals Service, the ATF, and probation and parole offices.
The new Gun Trace Data Report will be used to inform additional initiatives, and will guide City leaders in advocating for local and state leaders to identify ways to address problematic gun dealers.

Three weeks ago, I talked with Dad and told him that my husband and I were available to go to the property that was our family home and spend a week "helping clear things out." "Helping clear things out" is code for exactly what you might think: identifying donations and taking them where they need to go, getting trash to a dumpster, identifying the things they want to move to the house they now live in and get them ready to move, and getting ready for an auction.
We had planned to take our RV and stay for a full week because we can't stay in the 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house... the guest/caretaker has taken it over. We can't take our RV as planned, because the guest/caretaker has brought in too much junk for us to safely maneuver our RV (which is necessary in order to park).
I talked with Dad about renting a dumpster (20 or 30 yard roll off), because our time is more valuable than to load & make trips to the local dumpsters. He didn't follow through with getting quotes and setting that up.
He didn't talk with the guest/caretaker about needing to move vehicles out of the way so that we could bring our RV and start clearing things out. Right now, I don't even know where we would put the roll off.
I've talked with my husband about the situation, and am very seriously considering taking whatever Dad agrees that I can have and then... just not being available unless it works for my husband and/or me.
It's blatantly obvious that my parents' situation requires intervention. It's been obvious for quite some time. When I filed for guardianship and conservatorship of both in December 2019, the guardian ad litem (GAL) had concerns about both Mom and Dad's ability to manage their own interests.
I don't know when exactly, but at some time within the past 18 months one of Mom's doctors told Dad that if Dad didn't get help for Mom, he (the doctor) would report Dad to APS for neglect. Dad told me this himself. He took it seriously enough that they now have in home help for Mom. I don't know if Dad can't, or if he won't, tell me when the in-home help comes.
The neighbors agree that Dad doesn't understand how bad the situation is. At least they are now aware that I've tried to do something about it and my hands are tied.
My sister is the power of attorney. Over the course of the past 8 years, she has repeatedly demonstrated that she will use to her advantage information I obtain via professional courtesy and share with her because they're our parents, and then cut me out of communications. She has done this repeatedly, to the point that I have not been informed about numerous medical crises, inpatient procedures, hospitalizations, or transfers to rehabilitation centers. She insists that it's what Mom and Dad want. According to what Mom and Dad tell me, and what they tell their siblings, it isn't. Yet Mom and Dad won't do anything to change it, so as far as I'm concerned it is EXACTLY what they want. (My kids and husband agree that it's payback for me calling CPS and turning Dad in for SA on me when I was 12-15.)
I don't want to throw more money at the problem. It took me a year to pay off the attorney last time, and the money I spent on attorney and GAL fees then is money I should have spent obtaining professional credentials which would enable me to double my annual income. It's taken until now to again be in position to afford the fees for that program.
Helping them would be a time sink and an energy drain, and I have other things to do with both my time and my energy. About a year ago, even though I plan on being around another 30 years or so, I started decluttering and doing my own "death cleaning" because I don't want my stuff to control me any more and I don't want to do this to my kids. I don't want, and don't think it would be healthy, to put the needs of my own household on the back burner to be available to my parents when honestly, they were never available to me.
I've made a list of those professional services that are needed in addition to the in-home healthcare they already receive, so that they can live comfortably in the home they purchased for their retirement and the other properties sold (at their current home: lawn care services, housekeeping services, handyman services, medical transport, adult day care; at our family home: clutter removal, roll off rental, professional organizer, moving company, scrap metal hauler, estate sale services, auctioneer services). I am empowered to organize none of it, so I may as well not become further involved.
Were I to bear this in mind and become further involved anyway, it wouldn't improve the relationship with my sister. It would not improve my relationship with Dad. It would not restore the relationship with the son from whom I have been estranged for 18 years as a result of family dynamics involving Dad and my sister. It will not change the fact that Dad has set me up to take a fucking when it comes time to settle my parents' estate. My sister and I are supposed to be 50-50 heirs, and I 100% doubt that's how it'll work out by the time she's done being power of attorney and executor.
Dad is the barrier to moving forward with anything. He will not, and cannot be made to, either "shit or get off the pot." In theory, Dad wants to move forward and wants help doing so. In theory, Dad wants my help.
In practice, my time, education, professional expertise and professional connections mean nothing to him. He disregards any suggestion or recommendation I make. He ignores my considered opinion. He will not make plans or follow through on commitments. Add to that, he talks shit about my sons in front of me and he talks shit about me to our relatives behind my back. He lies, and tries to claim things that never happened despite the recollections of others involved and hard evidence to the contrary.
He will not ask for help in advance; he deliberately waits until the last minute, so that everything must be dropped or reworked in order to help him.
It is not possible to have a discussion with my sister and then tell our parents that we agreed ___. I've tried on numerous occasions. She will not agree to having me take lead on things involving Mom and her staying lead on things involving Dad, and meeting regularly to ensure we're both fully informed regarding each of our parents. Supposedly their attorney advised against this; per the elder law attorney I retained when I filed the petition for guardianship and conservatorship (who was recommended by the county board of guardians), it's the recommended arrangement.
She will not step back and let me hire a case manager (to deal with health and household) and a fiduciary (to deal with finances and estate planning/senior law). She will not step up, either.
I am as sure as I'm sitting here that Dad has ASD level 2. (While I am not a diagnostician or clinician, the bulk of my professional experience is in community based social services, special education instructional and behavioral support, and supported employment services for adults who have disabilities.)
I am aware that it's possible to have ASD and a personality disorder, and I believe with certainty that this is the case with my dad. I know he has been to counseling several times and is regarded to be resistant to treatment. (My dad has done some things that resulted in court ordered counseling. It was a waste of time. At least once after the court ordered counseling, my parents attempted marriage counseling; after some months, it was discontinued with neither of them feeling any resolution/improvement. Also at that time, my children were receiving children's' mental health services; their providers shared that they felt my parents deliberately interfered with the individual and family progress my children and I were making.)
I've talked with my husband and we agree that my parents' situation is not worth me winding up back in therapy or on medication.
I am very seriously considering just going through Mom's stuff with her, asking her if I can have __, and doing absolutely nothing to help with anything of Dad's.

Hey folks! I'll give you a little bit of a backstory to set things up. I'm 39 years old, and at the end of last year finally finished paying off my student loans 18 years after graduating. I live in a rural town and my income (48K, increasing to $52K when a raise kicks in three months from now) qualifies me as "low income" by USDA Rural Development guidelines set for my county.
This means I qualify for a USDA Rural Development 502 Direct home loan with some pretty amazing terms. It's $0 down payment, 4.125% interest, and no PMI on a standard 33y payment term. You can almost move into a home with no money out of pocket. You can roll your closing costs into the mortgage so long as the house appraises above the sale price. Even out of pocket costs like inspection fees are refunded at closing.
I filled out the application last week, and late this afternoon, I got a call from the underwriter informing me that I'm approved for $293K (I'll be buying in the $150K range because I want PITI to top out around $1,000/mo) and I'll be getting my certificate of eligibility (like a prequalification letter basically) on Monday.
On the call, the underwriter mentioned that I qualify for payment assistance as well. Basically this would take that 4.125% standard interest rate and further reduce it as long as my income is below certain government thresholds. The only caveat is that the subsidy is subject to recapture at the end of the loan when you pay it off or sell the house.
While I can opt out of payment assistance, my gut still says this is worth doing, considering the time-value of money. Better for me to save those dollars now and pay them back in 10 or 20 years when I sell, right?
Am I thinking about this correctly?

I recently made a huge mistake of buying a high dollar used item on a fourm for a couple thousand $. I paid through PayPal FF, since the seller had a long sale history on that site I bought from. He was very responsive the whole time, and now I haven't heard from him for a few days now. So, yes I'm a dumbass.
On the fortunate side, because he had such a positive seller history I was able to find his name and email from the previous buyers he sold to. Which lead to me finding his social media page, address, both places of work, and County assessors info. I made sure it was the same guy by verifying his Facebook page photos matching his fourm picture and seeing that he owned the product I bought. I screenshot some things, incase he makes his profile private.
So now that I have all this info, how should I proceed? Bring him to small claims court with the info? Or call his place of work and see if I can get him on the phone.

• No, he is not in the hospital, because he just posted on Facebook yesterday.
• This should be the same guy, and not someone who hacked his fourm account, since I messaged a few of his precious buyers and they confirmed the same PayPal email I sent money to, and they had recieved their items.

Any advise would be appreciated.

TACOMA, Wash. — Homeless service providers bracing for steep funding cuts got a last-minute rescue in Pierce County on Friday. However, although they say the immediate crisis has been averted, the problem that led up to the financial shortfalls still remains.

It follows from this that you should not expect your article to be supported by most readers. If people aren't responding negatively to you, it may indicate that they stay quiet because they don't want to be targeted, rather than that they agree. Both Champaign and Indianapolis are large cities, which can draw on outlying areas to get workers, making up for having below-replacement fertility. Door County also relies on importing workers, but because it is not a large city with lots of political power, this is less reliable. In 2020, for example, the supply of foreign J-1 workers was abruptly cut off. Door County manages to get a consider number of immigrants from outside the county, but most who relocate for longer than a season are wealthier than people residing in Door County. They also tend to be older and not looking to start new families.
Instead, as larger-scale governing bodies destabilize Door County and break down its social fabric and economy, they can use former Door Countyites to solve the worker shortages in large metro areas. Support for transgenderism is a shibboleth for the economic interests of large metro areas. This manifests itself locally as a lower quality of life and an economic leakage to outside the county. Because it isn't a big city, Door County is especially dependent on its birth rate for its future. Its total fertility rate in 2020 was 1.533 lifetime births, well below replacement of 2.1 lifetime births. At this rate, each generation, without factoring for immigration or emigration, will be 27% smaller than the one before. However, since something like 30% to 40% of young adults leave the county, the effect is even stronger than 27%.
Transgenderism's concomitant drugs and surgeries tend towards sterilization, and towards making its subjects less attractive to the opposite sex. Assisted reproductive technologies are too expensive to be implemented on a broad scale. Transgenderism is a risk to Door County's future, because it could help push that 1.533 figure even lower. In this way, transgenderism is a demographic factor in the overall gentrification, just as unaffordable housing is an economic factor. Just as it is unwise to encourage unaffordable housing, it is unwise to encourage transgenderism.
Or even if you think replacement fertility is unrealistic and unachievable, consider that when the age structure of a population gets too unbalanced, it is harder to take care of the elderly. Or should elderly people just be relocated far away, or as some think, even euthanized? Every transgender sterilization is a step in the wrong direction.
It follows then, that someone who refuses to use preferred pronouns might not be a horrible bigot who gets perverse satisfaction from it, but rather, someone who loves his or her community and wants it to have a future. Such people may even be willing to personally be on the losing side of a litmus test for the collective good.

Some of them, such as the Miller Art Museum, Door County Community Auditorium, Peninsula Music Festival, Northern Sky Theater, have benefited from, and can expect to consider benefiting from, public, tax-funded support. Because taxpayers come from all sorts of political backgrounds, these organizations should have avoided all political activities, aside from lobbying for particular things directly related to their organization.
An example of the political trust vested in the Door County Community Auditorium is described in https://doorcountypulse.com/struggle-for-a-stage-door-community-auditorium/. But like Disney in Florida, they are engaging in partisan activity, betraying that trust. Institutions which benefit from public funding should be non-partisan and impartial. Public money should not be spent on group-think.
Most of the sponsors are local, but Carrie Busse Shorewest Realtors and Napalese are from Green Bay, the Avenue Art & Company is from Appleton, and Marketini Media is from Madison. They get to influence Door County while their cities benefit from Door County's emigrating young-adult population.
I'm not sure if this has been covered in your classes so far, or privately by your boss. If so, bear with me as I restate it. The Pulse has a different political makeup among its advertisers versus its readers. That it is a free paper tends to result in a readership which is inherently less educated than the readership of a subscription newspaper. I used to know a man who had once ran a free paper, but sold it. He was a conservative. It had a lot of general-interest content, nothing political, and especially featured ads for alcohol. Free papers tend to be read by people who read occasionally rather than regularly.
Occasional readers are less educated than regular readers, and the level of education corresponds to the political alignment. This means that natural readership of the Pulse is more conservative than the overall population of Door County. For people with a regular reading habit, the Pulse competes with a number of subscription outlets, while for occasional readers the Pulse has less competition.
Yet the Pulse isn't dominated by gas station and liquor store ads. Unlike many other free papers, its advertisers run more towards the left. This makes sense, because presently Door County has a disproportionately left-wing visitorship. One factor in the loss of right-leaning tourists may be in marketing decisions over recent decades has shifted. Right-wingers from the Chicago metro area are probably drawn more towards state parks in Indiana and other Door County alternatives. Local businesses geared toward tourists, or even seasonal residents, will probably be well-served by advertising in the Pulse.
This leaves the Pulse in the situation where it is to the left of its readership, but still financially sustainable. Its leadership must be aware of this vulnerability, as the Pulse's podcast tends to be to the left of the paper. That it sometimes leaves its readership behind is exemplified how, in the recent midterm election, Ron Johnson did not return any answers to the Pulse's questionnaire, while his Democratic opponent did. Door Countyites voted for him anyway, by a margin of only 75 votes. During the 2022 election it seems that a number of Republicans intentionally spurned media outlets over left-wing bias. To the extent that they did so, and won office anyway, this served to send a message to their base that they were unwilling to be manipulated by left-wing media. It could even be seen as a plea for fair treatment in the future.
Instead of pronouns, there are other topics out there. Recently, a large firm was paid a lot of state money to write a report which claimed that "Potawatomi was chosen in honor of the tribe that had lived in the area before ceding its land to the US government in the 1830’s."

You could write an article debunking this, and explain what really happened. I think it would be well-received locally, though maybe not by the DNR. Had you written an article about how pronouns should always be biologically honest, that would have hurt your chances of getting a job someday as a journalist in a large metro area, but I don't think debunking Graef would hurt you. With some effort, you should be able to find other topics which are win-win for both your future career and for Door County. Although this is a social relationship, were it a biological relationship instead, this would be "mutualism" rather than "parasitism" or "predation".
