It’s not really important to detail everything of the next few weeks, word did spread that the Walkers were leaving again, of course, there was no way to keep that secret. Packing had to be done, after all, and arrangements for the house had to be made.
There was simply no way to keep our going ‘completely quiet’. So the neighbors started to come by asking questions.
“Should we leave too?”
“Am I going to end up with more bits of shrapnel in my kitchen?”
“Do I need to get more stuff to patch bullet holes?”
“I assume we go to the same hotel as last time, or will it be a different one?”
It was frequent enough that we held another ‘neighborhood barbecue’ where William explained over sizzling meat and a mix of real beer and that abomination to all civilized species ‘non-alcoholic beer’ that, “You are in no danger. We are leaving for a government assignment, but it is not one that puts any of you at anymore risk than yesterday or the day before. I promise, there won’t be any crazy masked gunmen showing up and disturbing the peace.”
William’s reputation was one of truthfulness, and it probably didn’t hurt that making sure the neighbors were safe had been a priority last time.
‘Last time… for the sake of the void… how many shenanigans are we supposed to get involved in?’ I asked myself that question while sipping on a very large ‘wood bottle’. This was a wonderful innovation in alcoholic beverages. Instead of ‘glass’ this ‘wood’ actually added a wonderful earthiness to the beer, making it smoother and far more full bodied than the glass counterpart.
It had its drawbacks, of course, if you didn’t want that added flavor, you had to use glass, but I found it to be positively delectable, if a little ‘thicker’ than my usual preferences.
I had a great fondness for ales, particularly the more ‘aggressive’ ones with an immediate sort of bite to them. They weren’t to be ‘chugged’ like the bland and fizzy ones that had all the kick of a sleeping toddler. No, no, these powerful ones were meant to be ‘swigged’. You take one big swig at a time, savor the richness, the full flavor, the taste, and the feel of it going down.
It’s about here I should mention that ‘beer clubs’ and ‘bourbon buddies’ were starting to gain popularity among dlamisa.
It began with the Ballyball League of Earth and Dlamias. As part of their training for the sport, teams ‘ran’ a great deal, and they learned of an ancient Earth organization that survived through the centuries called the Hash House Harriers, ‘drinkers with a running problem’ as they are popularly known.
These organizations around the world would lay out trails and follow them in search of alcohol at various stopping points. They would drink together and have a grand old time, and be rather intoxicated by the end of it all. From this my people innovated various ‘fan clubs’ for certain alcohol organizations that would sponsor their runs in exchange for filming their gatherings.
Naturally I set up a few gambling options for people to bet on my players during training, but out of these grew specific off-field rivalries which were now starting to spread to my home world, usually run out of coffee establishments.
This might be the thing that made someone decide to put me at risk. I will probably never know the answer to that one.
It didn’t matter. Not really.
I was standing there among my friends, family, neighbors, with warmth and welcome, with the smell of good food cooking and people wishing me well on my ‘business trip’ and I knew I was doing the right thing.
This was the reason, this was the point of it all, to bring ‘this’ not just to me, but to everybody.
Every drop of blood that spread in my arena, every credit that flowed into my exponentially growing cooperative organization… all of it was serving this single purpose. ‘I will see my will done. I will bring it all down.’ I vowed and took another swig from my bottle. Latunde was telling a joke, and I huffed politely.
A good man, a good neighbor. And a surprisingly good actor considering he ran a feed store, his pretend police situation when we were making our evacuation a few years ago was really well done.
But I couldn’t pay attention to jokes right then.
I went back into the house and up to Fauve’s room. I knocked, “Come in.” She answered.
I expected this, she was never particularly social, and didn’t care for large gatherings of people. I still wasn’t the biggest fan of those, but…alcohol makes everything much easier.
“Hi.” I said, poking my head in without entering. “How are you?”
She was seated at her terminal, pounding away at ‘nothing’. But she had a virtual headset on so there was ‘something’ to her.
“Fine. I’m just taking care of some things. Writing out some notes, researching the Praeda species that we’re going to meet, writing my will, breaking up with my girlfriend, the usual sort of thing that happens every…single…time I think life is going to finally come out of warp and let us relax.” She said it with such deadpan humor that I almost missed it.
“I’m sorry.” I said and slipped into the room, closing the door behind me, I went and sat down on her bed.
“For what? You didn’t do anything wrong.” Fauve answered, though she didn’t take her attention off her work. “This is just more of the usual, and if anybody is to blame, it’s me. I could have faded into the background. I could have just let everything go back to normal. I could have just shut my mouth after everything was over the first time… but no. I didn’t. I didn’t and now I can’t have a moment’s peace or normalcy. I had to be media personality, a speaker, a filmmaker a….” She trailed off and slapped her palms down on the desk. “I did this to myself. Now I’m going to be alone again because I just can’t say no. Michael is going to lose years with his friends. You’re being thrown back into god knows what, mom and dad are… no, they’re fine, to them this will be a vacation, if anything.” She sighed.
“My point is, Bailey, you don’t have anything to apologize for. I’m just, I’m stressed out a little.” Fauve said to me and I swallowed hard and nodded.
“I know what you mean.” I said, I chose not to mention the pseudo-attempt on my life, but added, “This is a disruption to my life too, and… a lot of things are going to change, even if things go well, maybe ‘especially’ if they do.” I got up and went to put my hand on her shoulder.
Fauve leaned back, rocking her chair so that it hit my waist, her head was against my fur, “And I don’t think I did anything wrong here but… I’m sorry that things aren’t as easy for you as you deserve. I mean that.” I promised.
She cracked a smile beneath her headset.
“Yeah, yeah, well it’s not like space is boring. No human has ever been out that far before, so we get to be a first… but even so? I’m tired of having to end relationships over work. It happened with Halbert, it happened with… wait… has it ever not happened that way?” Fauve stopped and thought that over.
I wasn’t surprised she referenced her first romantic interest. Humans tend to template all later relationships on the basis of their earlier ones, and Fauve tended to be hyperfocusd on what she was engaged in at any given moment, so I wasn’t surprised that she would never have really looked at how something over ‘played out’ in the end. Not until she had a reason to.
“Wow… yeah… everything always ended because of something work related… if not mine, then theirs. Damn.” She sighed as that understanding hit home.
Humans have in my observations, a tendency to blind themselves to what is happening, they don’t always see underlying causes for what goes awry in their lives, and as such they may miss patterns that will not be missed by other species. It makes them interesting to be around, at least.
“I’m taking a long vacation when I get back.” She promised herself and slumped. “Maybe I should sell the rights to that game series and turn my attention to something new… I…” Fauve shook her head, “Bailey, do you think it’s possible to be too career focused?”
I squeezed my hand on her shoulder a little nad cocked my head. “You’re asking me that question? Fauve, I came here on a fifty year doctoral program, I’m the last person you should ask that question.”
She was quiet for a moment before she quipped, “Alright, that’s fair. But after this is over, I’m definitely taking a break. Maybe I’ll just rewrite this breakup note and explain that because of work that we need to ‘go on a break’ no questions asked after I get back.”
It was of course possible that the other person would ‘move on’ and there was nothing to come back to when Fauve did return, however this did leave the possibility open at least. “I think that’s wise.” I said with a gentle voice.
“You should invite them to Waterland Park with everybody else.” I suggested, but Fauve shook her head.
“No. No. I have to face this one on my own. If I can walk in there and walk past that place without a problem, on my own, I can finally put the last bit of that bastard behind me.” She said it with such iron resolve that it was hard for me to imagine she wouldn’t be able to do it.
“You won’t be alone, you know that.” I reminded her.
She smiled again.
“That’s not quite what I mean, Bailey… but thank you. I still have some work to do here, but, would you be a friend and bring me a beer while I finish this up… and maybe a hamburger?” She asked.
“Sure thing, Fauve.” I said, and left her room again.

2023.06.10 19:03 JamariusQuangle My Ideas for Fallout 5

FALLOUT 5
Fallout 5 will take place in the Dixie Wasteland, in the ruins of Charleston, South Carolina in 2322. It will be the first fallout to take place in the South. The only nuke to hit the region was a defective US nuke that detonated as soon as it was launched.
Character Building:
You start with 35 special points, making it so you have a more specialized build or a jack of all trades. The old skill system makes a return, with you choosing a perk every 3 level ups. Skill checks are frequent, and can vary from Special stats to perks. You get to choose a special perk when you start the story, like Small Frame or Kamikaze. Karma has three tiers: Evil, Neutral, and Good.
Mutations and Radiation: Mutations will occur like in 76, but you can become a super mutant if you dip yourself in a vat of FEV. Your strength and endurance will increase dramatically, but many factions and cities won’t let you in without a huge hassle. Radiation makes you mutate more, but if your mutation level is too high you will turn into a mindless Behemoth. Too much radiation will turn you into a ghoul, which makes you immune to radiation and raises your endurance. If you get too many rads while ghoulified, you become feral.
Weapons & V.A.T.S:
Makeshift weapons are far more prevalent in this game, but they are more diverse and realistic than those in Fallout 4. Normal weapons are more powerful and rarer, selling for more at stores. More real guns will be added alongside the retro-futuristic fallout guns, including the 9 round and 1 shotgun shell LeMat revolver. Weapon customization exists alongside a wider variety than of weapons. Dual wielding makes its first entry to the series, allowing for dual wielding of small melee weapons, pistols, and smgs.
Higher Agility levels makes dual wielding more accurate. V.A.T.S will return to freezing the game instead of the slowed down time in Fallout 4
Settlements:
There will be 3 buildable settlement locations that you discover on your own, and 5 customizable player home locations.
World: The Dixie Wasteland is a mix of civilized and Wild. The Western section of the map is the most dangerous, full of raiders and animals, despite that the town of Magnolia is in the west. The Northeast is the city of Charleston, the city of Civitas Ferro is set up within eastern Charleston. The South of the map is controlled by the Brotherhood of Steel as well. The middle of the map is a bunch of small towns mixed with the wildness of the west. The eastern side of the map is swamps, and the west is forested hills. A large lifeless crater exists in the in the middle of the map, simply known as the Hole.
Enemies: Some animals return, such as bloodbugs, deathclaws, ferals, bloatflies, and Yao Guais, Mirelurks, and Gatorclaws. New animals include Raddlesnakes, Giraffe Dogs (coyotes with long necks), Snappers (huge turtles), and Prowlers (mutated bobcats). Raiders are in named groups again, with three main bands terrorizing Dixie. The tribe known as the Confederates who enslave and sell rather than pillage, the Beastmasters who tame mutated animals and attack with them, and the Vaulties who were former vault dwellers. Generic raiders can also be found. Super Mutant bands have moved south from the Capital Wasteland, and continue their sackings in Dixie. Enemy robots are occasionally found, especially from the RobCo factory in the city. The last kind of enemy is the main factions if you piss them off, as they send death squads out to gank you if you have a bad reputation.
Dixie history: The Carolinians united the eastern coast and Charleston together as a large scale civilization in 2190, but by the year 2291, the Brotherhood of Steel invaded. They pillaged, plundered, and took control of the east coast and the capital of the Carolinians. Their despotic rule has causes several factions in the wasteland grow rebellious, and tensions are reaching a high in 2322.
Themes: The game has a southern theme, with the radios playing country and bluegrass music. Characters have southern accents, as do the robots.
Radio Stations:
Magnolia Radio - Swing and Jazz hosted by a charismatic ghoul named Darren Dixie. Darren will comment on the events that occur throughout the wasteland.
Hoedown Capital - A country and bluegrass station hosted by Mr. Hillbilly, a DJ Mr.
Handy. He still believes the year is 2077, and only tells news relating to events that happened leading up to the Great War.
Brotherhood Military Channel - Updates troops about tech locations and orders patrols around.
There are plenty of side quests and random events, including side quests for each faction.
Factions:
There are 5 factions in Fallout 5, and you have to side with one of them to complete the story. The Tribal ending is the wild card ending. The reputation system makes a return, with the New Vegas pictures.
Brotherhood of Steel: The Brotherhood of Steel has turned into nothing short of a jingoistic military dictatorship, developed by Elder William Garrick. The Brotherhood abandoned Maxson in the commonwealth, as Garrick lead a silent coup in the Capital wasteland. The Brotherhood has grown colossally in size, and now spans the East Coast unchecked in power. Not only do they seize military technology now, they also seize stuff like pre-war small arms, Auto-docs, pip-boys, robots, terminals etc. They’ve ruled over Atlanta for the past 2 years with an iron fist, forcing settlers into giving up their crops and crippling the wasteland and infrastructure of the Dixie Wasteland. They control a large city inside Atlanta called Civitas Ferro, with their headquarters in the center. Despite your hatred for them initially, you can join them and defeat all the rebels.
Carolinian Revolutionary Army- The Carolinians are the remnants of the former largest nation in the Dixie Wasteland called the Free Federation of Charleston. It was a democratic civilization based on the old state of South Carolina, with elections and rights for any human or quasi-human. Although it was weak and corrupt, it was better than the alternatives. When the Brotherhood rolled in, the Carolinians resisted their raids, so the Brotherhood overthrew them in a scorched Earth campaign. The Carolinians are the remnants of their military, dedicated to rebelling against the Brotherhood’s tyranny, and have the endgame goal of bringing Democracy back to Dixie. They grow steadily by the day, but they suffer from bureaucratic issues and corruption. You can join the Carolinians as an agent, and you help them lead a rebellion against the Brotherhood.
Greylock’s Hand: Greylock’s Hand are a band of violent raiders and mercenaries, who likewise want the Brotherhood of Steel gone, but instead desire an anarchic survival of the fittest wasteland. They are lead by a profane, wild ghoul named Greylock. They are basically terrorists, but their raids and ambushes against the Brotherhood are effective. They reside in a secret underground missile launch site, completed two days before the war. Even the Brotherhood knows nothing about it aside from rumors. The missiles, however, are not finished. You can join Greylocks Hand after getting kidnapped by them, and after you help them build part of the missiles.
Magnolia: The last joinable faction is Magnolia, a large settlement in and around the former plantation home. The city is ruled by a group of Mister Handys who escaped from a crashed truck driving to Charleston the day of the Great War. They saw the magnolia plantation and went their to clean, doing so and repairing it for 150 years, eventually realizing what was happening in the world around them.Their newfound “sentience” allowed them to create a settlement, inviting wastelanders and tribals to live and trade under their protection. Their elected leader is a specialized Mr Handy that has economic programming. The robots have defended themselves from several Brotherhood attacks, and after some convincing they allow you to become an honorary robot and join their faction.
Tribal: Instead of choosing any of the four main factions, you can instead unite the smaller settlements, tribes, and factions into New Dixie. You are assisted by an intelligent Supermutant from the Capital Wasteland named Spider, acting as your loyal second in command.
Minor factions:
The Network: A secret underground trading organization that sells and trades equipment that would normally be confiscated by the BoS. You can rat them out to the BoS, or you can join them.
Wasteland Marshalls: A paramilitary organization that patrols highways and hunts raiders, based on the US Marshals of the past. You can join them or convince them to join the brotherhood.
Catawbas: The descendants of the old native tribe from South Carolina, they specialize in the creation of makeshift weaponry to sell to wastelanders. You can convince them to join the rebellion, or you can convince them to join the Brotherhood.
Abolitionists: A militia of borderline terroristic anti-slavers, based on the conquests of the radical abolitionist John Brown. You can join them or eliminate them.
Plot:
South Carolina: 2322. War, war never changes.
The main character is a tribal living southeast of Charleston. The tribe has to pay a toll to local raiders, and it’s left their tribe starving. In the first part of the game, the Tribal, their sibling and their friend are searching for food for their tribe, when they stumble across an old sunken West-Tek storage depot. In it is a prototype suit of power armor called the AX-01, which is a large tank-suit with back missiles and two hand laser rifles, built for ease of use. You learn how to pilot it from a terminal, and you take it back to the tribe; the raiders and their leader are there demanding their payment. You kill the raiders with the power armor, and the tribe is free from their subjugation. Weeks later, 4 Brotherhood of Steel paladins arrive at the village. After the tribals refuse to give up their power armor, the BoS execute everyone in the village and burn it to the ground (including your sibling), seizing the suit and flying away on a vertibird. Only the Tribal remains.
Act 1: The Tribal picks up a broken pip-boy as soon as they leave the town, and they hunt down the paladins North to Charleston, you kill all 4 of them while adventuring across the map. By the end of the first act, the Brotherhood declares you an enemy of the Brotherhood.
Act 2: Due to the deaths of several Paladins and the constant rebellion from the region, a Brotherhood blimp appears. The brotherhood frequency states that if the Tribal visits the ship, they will be absolved of their crimes. The Tribal is also invited to secret meeting of between Carolinians and robots from Magnolia. You also get kidnapped by the Greylocks 2 days after this meeting. From there you can choose between the rebels or the Brotherhood, and do their specific quest lines. For the Greylocks, you have to find parts to build their rockets. Whereas for the other groups you have to find a way into their base.
Act 3: All questlines end in the ultimate battle and raid on the Greylock base. If you side with the Greylocks you repel the attackers. The end of the story is where you fire the missile array at the Brotherhood’s home base and their airship, chasing them out of Dixie. If you side with the Brotherhood you secure the missile array and fire the rockets at the fleeing rebels, crushing their numbers.
Each ending depends on your karma and what side you chose, potentially turning a “good” faction evil or an “evil” faction good.
Your actions have consequences throughout the story, and no character is essential except for potential companions.
The Tribal:
The tribal is the name of the 28 year old protagonist, and you can choose between you or your friend to be your character. One is male, the other is female. The protagonist is silent, but the character you don’t choose has voiced dialogue. Their default names are Sammy and Cora, but you can change them. Speech is back to the chart with full responses. Their personality is determined by the player, allowing for better roleplaying opportunities.
Companions:
There are 10 companions, 3 non human and 7 human. The affinity system returns, and each companion has a personal quest. They also have comments for the main quest and other miscellaneous events. Companions have specific likes and dislikes, and have different karmas. You can recruit companions outside of your karma if you pass a speech check. Any positive affinity progression while not in their karma has a 1.25 multiplier. Companions are romanceable regardless of gender.

2023.06.10 17:34 vickyvalle Death Certificate

My mother passed away 4/3/22. After clearing her apartment and dealing with the small matters, I waited for her death certificate to take care of all other matters. I got a couple of phone calls from hospitals and her rehab center saying that her bills were being kicked back because her date of passing was wrong; I assured them that I’d take care of things as soon as I could.
I received her death certificate in May 2022, and immediately realized that her date of passing was listed as 3/3/22. I handed them back to the funeral director, who assured me that they’d be taken care of.
Fast forward to 2023, and I still don’t have a death certificate. The funeral home says it was the doctor’s mistake; the doctor disputes that. Because of the time elapsed, the hospital and other caregivers can no longer seek payment from her insurance (she had great insurance; she never had to pay out of pocket). Her last month, she racked up a ton of medical bills.
Does anyone have any advice? I signed all her paperwork for her care. It wasn’t a big deal, because, great insurance. Now I have one, and possibly more, hospital coming after me for payment. Help!

2023.06.10 17:28 Spookytayyy AIG travel insurance… is it actually worth it?

Recently I took a trip with frontier… or attempted to. This terrible airline canceled my connecting flight while I was in flight to my connecting city. Their reason? Schedule change (from what I have gathered frontier does this on undersold flights so that they can cash out on their own insurance benefits). This happened at their hub airport in Denver so they should have planes, but nope they left about 50 people stranded with minimal accommodations. I was flying into the west coast for a funeral and was literally going to be in town for 5 hours and then back out on my return flight by the end of the evening. The flight frontier offered me home was over 48 hours out and they were only willing to pay for 1 night hotel??? Anyways I thought screw this I have third party insurance and they’ll pay me back for my flight home. WRONG. AIG Domestic Air Ticket Plan does not cover common carrier delays under their trip cancellation, or trip interruption sections and the trip delay section includes a bunch of exclusions that will only allow pay of additional expenses limited to food and LOCAL stays/transportation. If I rented a car and drove it back to my home state I would’ve been reimbursed but because I took a flight home and chose not to be stranded insurance says nope we don’t cover airfare??? Then why even offer insurance for air travel.… especially at the checkout of an airline that notoriously cancels flights for no real reason the day of. The government needs to better regulate travelers rights and define what airlines can and cannot do to their customers. All the loose terms FAA uses only hurts us.
Unfortunately I have already booked a European trip and purchased AIG travel insurance. I’m now worried and thinking of canceling it since it was rather useless this last time. I’m mostly worried about the healthcare benefits being out of the country.
TLDR: purchased AIG Travel Insurance and was not covered when the airline canceled my connecting flight and left me stranded.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Has anyone successfully received payout in a similar situation? Has anyone had a good experience with AIG travel?

2023.06.10 17:21 Fall-of-Enosis We finally finished our campaign after 4.5 years. Together.

Just wanted to share this with ya'll as this was something that was very special to all of us.
Our campaign has been running pretty strong for the past 4.5 years, with us playing over Fantasy Grounds every other Saturday. The party consisted of myself Playing Rorik Ironfist, a one armed Dwarven Pugilist, Dibble Dabblestone, a Gnomish ADHD Artificer, Tharic, a half elven multiclass Servant of Mystra (mostly Pally/Cleric) and Fedhin, a warforged (robot more or less) wild magic Barb. The campaign started at level 1 and we ended at 20.
All of us players actually work at the same place and have known each other for many years. But our DM, (name changed for Privacy) Mark and I met first on Xbox nearly ten years ago through his brother when he randomly dragged him into a Crota's End Raid on Destiny. Both are Australian, but Mark lives on the East Coast as he is a professional actor. Spends most of his time in theater. But also has done some voice acting in games and a few smaller films.
Over the course of 4.5 years Mark weaved for us literally the best campaign I have ever played in DnD. It was 100% homebrew with the most vibrant cast of NPC's ever, spanning over most of the Moonshae Isles where it took place. We started out on a lowly fishing ship, barely knowing one another. We fought Goblins, saving the Moonwells, protected Kingdoms. We tavelled to the Fey Wilds asking for help on the side of the road, while a bunch of Fey ignored us. We made a quick enemy of an Arch Fey named "Sadereal" whom Dibbel immediately wrote a song about called "Sadereal's a dick". We "befriended" a Green Dragon. We were sucked into a bottle where we lived in a desert until we could escape. We found ourselves on a space faring ship, The Argent Traveler, making more friends of the crew along the way. We made close friends of William, the proprietor "Williams Wonder Emporium", who was always happy to invite us into his home/shop for a cup of tea and a chat about adventure. We generally over-payed Tanka, the kind and mostly reserved Firbolg owner and bartender of "The Ivy Rose", where we would always sit upstairs and drink in our booth to chat about our next steps. This is where Dibble also found a flyer an upcoming Dinosaur carnival. The entire city showed up to watch the dinosaur ships dock, but all hell broke loose when we found that they were out of their pens with all the crew massacred. We had to track down a bunch of Dinosaurs running amok! This is when Rorik succesfully grappled a T-Rex! (well TBH he grappled a TON of things). Rorik found out about his Long lost family (he was Born in Waterdeep, a beggar, thinking he was tossed out due to his misshapen arm) the Lightrocks. We travelled to White Rock, the largest Dwarven settlement only to find that most of my clan was lost, but a good amount were still holding on. We took back the mines from an evil Beholder named Xualaxisk, who was the one that bit off Rorik's arm as a child. Rorik plunged his fist into the eye and had William fashion a new Ironfist out of it. Dibbel grew close to another smart Gnome named Layla and she helped him make new special ammunition for his rifle "Duchess".
But some evil was set to take over the entire Moonshaes as well as Toril. All this crazyness was coming to a head and we had to stop it. "The Onyx Empress" was behind all of this. All of our friends we made along the way were rallying together, and we found a relic that would allow us to meet the Onyx Empress in a pocket plane.
But months before all this happened, Mark told us that we wouldn't finish the campaign.
At least not over Fantasy Grounds.
He told us that for the last session he wanted to fly out from the East Coast so we could finish the campaign. Together. In the same room.
This was obviously amazing. Not only would I get to meet a good friend whom I had never met in real life, but we would be together when we finshed this story that was so important to all of us. We had a few months to prepare while we contiued to play over FG. We rented an AirBNB on Oregon Coast. Planned Food. We all ordered custom Minis from Hero Forge, as Mark was already painting Minis and creating terrain for the final battle/session.
We knew that we wanted to do something special for Mark. Get him a gift. Something to remember this wonderful journey he took us on. We eventually settled on a party portrait. I contacted MANY artists on Reddit and eventually settled on u/Weeeizard aka Isabell. I asked her to create a drawing of all of our characters, together in the Ivy Rose, but with one extra person there. Mark. Retelling us his stories. Isabell was awesome throughout the entire process. Professional, on time, and never complained if I needed changes done to the characters. She understood how important all of this was to us. We spent four wonderful days together at a rented house on the Oregon coast being nerds. One of which was a 7 hour session where we faced off against our BBEG, The Onyx Empress, with wonderful terrain and gorgeous minis hand painted by the DM we cherish so much. We barely survived only to have the BBEG implode sucking Tharic (the guy toying with the silver flame) in immediately killing him, but sending him back into the hands of his God, Mystra. This is a GOOD death for Tharic. He only ever wanted serve his mistress and was happy to do so to bring balance to Toril. Dibbel was saved barely as he was out of the AOE. The rest of us survived and ended the campaign going our separate ways. Dibbel (the gnome) and Phedin (the warforged) are returning to Caer Callidyrr (the main city in the Moonshae Isles) to help rebuild the city after the destruction the BBEG had brought. Rorik (my character, the tattooed Dwarf) is returning to his clan and family, that he only recently realized were still alive. There is a teleportation circle available so he can go and visit his friends in Caer Callidyrr when he needs.
We presented the art to Mark after the last session and he LOVED it. We all teared up a bit together with him and embraced. He was so greatful for the memories that had now been immotalized.
We finished the weekend, by chilling on the beach, playing a bunch of board games, probably drinking too much and also watching the DnD movie together.
Thanks for reading my wall of text. This was so special for us, and I hope you all have a wonderful campaign/DM out there for yourselves! It's so nice to be able to share the game we love so much with one another.

PS: We're starting a new campaign in a couple of weeks with Tharic's player as DM and Mark playing as a PC!
Here's Isabell's webpage if you're curious on more of her art: https://www.isabellbartnicki.art/links
Also many thanks to u/SterlingVermin for the Pugilist. Rorik was a blast to play and will probably be one of my favourite characters ever. Although me and my DM had to nerf the class a bit in the later levels.
TLDR: We played a 1-20 homebrew campaign over 4.5 years on FG with a DM I had known for a decade but never met. He flew in for the final session so we could play together in the same room. We commissioned some dope art that he loves. It was a wonderful weekend for us and we're starting a new campaign soon!

2023.06.10 17:18 Fall-of-Enosis My group finished our Campaign after 4.5 years.

A DEFECT IN NEUROLOGY, NOT A DEFECT OF HUMANITY ADHD: A National Crisis
2023
To Larrakia Country I write to you from the lands and home of Larrakia, in the Northern Territory, which I am grateful to call my home too. Their elders, leaders and children are the owners and protectors of this land and its stories and songs. I am grateful for their hospitality and grace, considering the intolerance and violence that they continue to endure. I dedicate my work and myself to support their stewardship, in whatever role I am asked.
To my sons You are incredible people already. This is one of the biggest things I think I will ever do to make the world you are growing up in a better place than the one I was born into. We have already endured so much together, yet you go from strength to strength. The Blue Witch’s days are numbered.
To E, A, J, M, Ki, N, P, B, Ke, and all the Spirited Children Some might think I paint a bleak picture in this document. You all know this isn’t even the half of it. You deserve the life you want to lead, anything less is a failure, and should be unacceptable to all.
To Dad, Star, Cat, Moh. It is a comfort to know you are somewhere better, when we are left here.
A DEFECT IN NEUROLOGY, NOT A DEFECT IN HUMANITY ADHD: A National Crisis
Abstract ADHD is the biggest and easiest dealt with human challenge of our time. It is a debilitating impairment, that is lifelong and brings no inherent benefits or superpowers. It has likely been a part of hominid neurology for 300,000 years, and in that time it has been systematically rejected by genetic evolution as an enormous set of risks to the survival of the human race. It brings earlier death, more disease, isolation, hopelessness. Making the people who live with it even more remarkable. I have seen neglect, abuse, cruelty and ignorance that would make Dickens blanch. ADHD is routinely rejected, shunned and left in-addressed by Psychiatrists, Paediatricians, Nurses, Teachers, Judges, Police, leaving families in ruins, good and vibrant people be turned to husks, and children as young as 7 turn to suicide.
Not understanding it, not treating it costs our economy $20.5baud a year, if not more.
The need for a national effort to tackle the challenges is paramount to the future success of all Australians.
Self and Evidenced Truths.
  1. People with ADHD deserve recognition as living beings with rights, dignity, and aspirations despite our impairments.
  2. Fundamental to those rights, dignity and aspirations being observed we deserve guaranteed access to our medications, support, workplace arrangements and other accommodations across our lifespan.
  3. ADHD is a current and emerging Australian national crisis that demands immediate response in kind.
  4. ADHD is a chronic neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorder that impairs many aspects of living, at all points of the lifespan (Faraone et al., 2015).
  5. People diagnosed with ADHD face higher risks of other neurodevelopmental disorders, of suffering child abuse, experience school exclusions and engagement, discrimination, financial predation, other mental health problems, physical disorders, substance use, accidental injuries, chronic health problems and premature death, including suicide attempts and completions. Children are twice as likely to die by age 10, adults are 5 times more likely to be dead by age 25 (Barkley et al., 2022).
  6. Stimulant medications should be used as soon as possible and practicable following a diagnosis. Several Stimulant medications are safe and effective for treating ADHD and for preventing many adverse outcomes. Non-Stimulant and Non-medication treatments are less effective. (Storebø et al., 2015).
  7. ADHD costs Australia $20.4 billion per year in lost productivity, wellbeing, and public services (Deloitte Access Economics, 2019).
  8. There is a need for more awareness, education, and training explaining what ADHD is, as many people with ADHD remain undiagnosed and untreated due to ignorance, bias, or incompetence (Faraone et al., 2019).
  9. Australia’s attitude towards ADHD costly, uncoordinated, and unfair. This harms people with ADHD in multiple ways, such as limiting their ability to manage their symptoms, increasing their financial burden, and reducing their social support (Australian Clinical Practice Guidelines for ADHD Working Group, 2022).
As a Matter of Urgency
  1. The Commonwealth Government must fund a co-designed national awareness campaign for ADHD, highlighting its medical nature, the importance of early and persistent intervention and its impacts across the lifespan, and all aspects of modern life as a matter of priority. a. With particular focus on key peak bodies; Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency and its members, the Australian Council of Unions and its Members, Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority Curriculum, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Australian Finance Industry Association, Law Council of Australia, Police Federation of Australia, Universities Australia, and Australian Council for Private Education and Training.
  2. The Commonwealth Government must expand the professions that can screen, assess and diagnose ADHD to include Teachers, General Practitioners, Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Midwives and Remote Area Nurses, as well as expand telehealth options for remote areas.
  3. The Commonwealth Government must establish a national framework for ADHD assessment and support that clarifies roles and responsibilities of different agencies and ensures seamless transitions across life stages and reduce costs for government.
  4. The Commonwealth Government should mandate that bachelors, postgraduate degrees, and Community Service certificates and diplomas in health sciences, enrolled and registered nursing, education, community health, criminal and industrial law and allied health fields include compulsory modules in ADHD, co-designed with people with ADHD.
  5. The Commonwealth Government must delist methylphenidate, amphetamines, and their various formulations as Schedule 8 drugs and relist them as Schedule 4, they must also expand Medicare and PBS coverage for ADHD medication to include all people with a diagnosis of ADHD. This would reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with ADHD medication use as well as simplify the prescription and dispensing process for people with ADHD and their prescribers.
  6. The Commonwealth Government must fund presentation sensitive research on ADHD and its comorbidities, as well as presentation responsive training for anyone who cares for, educates, works with, or employs people with ADHD.
  7. The Commonwealth Government must direct new training and mentoring programs for practitioners, staff and community and health service delivery areas, focusing on Peri-Natal Services, Daycare and Primary School staff. Rationales Personal Experience My personal experience is as a father of a child with ADHD and as a sufferer of undiagnosed ADHD myself. My professional experience with government, hospitals, mental health, drug and alcohol case management, and the elderly, has led me to being an Advocate.
I suffered countless unnecessary medical, emotional, economic hardships and injustices throughout my life because of my undiagnosed ADHD. As a child I experienced routine ridicule, shame, and punishments. I was regularly abused and excluded by teachers, both immediate and extended family, peers, and random members of the public, verbally and physically. For symptoms, colloquially and incorrectly referred to as behaviours, of my Combined Presentation of ADHD. Combined Presentation of ADHD means that I have both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. Symptoms are the observable signs of ADHD, such as difficulty paying attention, being easily distracted, fidgeting, talking excessively, not saying much, daydreaming, working memory issues, etc. Symptoms that informed my personality and identity, that I was targeted for, abused for.
As I grew up, contrary to popular belief that ADHD symptoms get better as people age, the effects of my undiagnosed ADHD quickly got worse. The lack of access to university due to needing to work to support myself and look after my ailing father put me in unskilled retail positions, which became administrative positions before accidentally falling into Community Services. Through those careers, the constant workplace bullying and harassment prior to my diagnosis, needing to leave positions that were constantly either short contract or put up for recruitment where my skills, knowledge and wisdom meant nothing has left me with a colourful and varied career. The experience is nice but puts me at a significant disadvantage as I get older. My undiagnosed ADHD made it possible for me to perform well in different jobs. But as I juggled time management, organisation, communication, and self-regulation I would be burnt out as I self-medicated with work, and I would become expendable. Less time in positions, less experience, less expertise, less money, less able to provide for my family, less able to take part in society.
Despite my experience with health systems and supporting disabilities, my son who is 5, is facing similar barriers already and he is aware of himself. Being unable to access practical support for his disability, medication has been rationed as though we should be grateful to be receiving any assistance at all. We are 6 months post the last review, and the practitioner we saw last, hopefully mistakenly, provided us with incorrect information. Both his school and education department in the Northern Territory refused to allow therapists into the school to do observations without onerous and impractical limitations, not least of which was opposing observations in classes which effectively means no inclusive practices. It has come to the point where, to conserve his and my own mental well-being we will have to close his plan out. This shows how the education system continues to fail to accommodate the needs of children with ADHD and violates their right to inclusive education, and not much has changed in 30 years.
The emotional and physical toll of everyday life with ADHD and past traumas makes life an ongoing struggle. My Combined Presentation ADHD, physically, is managed, but even that is tenuous. My health is up in the air, as getting regular reviews with a psychiatrist is impossible, despite the medication I am on being perfectly safe and the prognosis of my condition is unremarkable while on medication. Regular reviews with a psychiatrist are essential for monitoring my medication dosage, side effects, and effectiveness, as well as for addressing any other mental health issues that I endure. You’ll need to start another Inquiry before I talk about those though.
ADHD has meant more serious consequences, and harder to rectify situations: homelessness joblessness, discrimination, isolation. I am still standing but am never safe from them. These are some of the ways that ADHD, diagnosed and undiagnosed, has impacted my life. Due to the lack of recognition, respect, dignity that I deserve as a person, disability or not. I received my Diagnosis less than 3 years ago and already I have experienced the best stability and success I have ever had. In this 3 years I have been homeless, unemployed, suffering severe trauma and depression. All dealt with alone.
My NDIS application is now 18 months into its appeal. I wonder if it will survive longer than the AAT?
ADHD assessments and diagnosis: Children and adults with ADHD often face various gaps and barriers in accessing appropriate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services for their condition. These include lack of awareness and recognition of ADHD among health professionals and the public; stigma and discrimination associated with ADHD; variability in diagnostic practices and criteria; limited availability and accessibility of specialist services; high out-of-pocket costs for diagnosis and treatment; lack of coordination and integration of care across different sectors; insufficient monitoring and evaluation of treatment outcomes; and lack of evidence-based guidelines and quality standards for ADHD care. These gaps and barriers contribute to the underdiagnoses and under treatment of ADHD in Australia and limit the potential benefits of early intervention and quality care.
ADHD management: Qualified and experienced practitioners who can assess and diagnose ADHD in children and adults are in short supply, especially in rural and remote areas. This leads to long waiting times, inflated costs, and inconsistent quality of assessments, and cascading health outcomes. People with the Inattentive presentation of ADHD, which is predominantly girls and women, face significant gender bias in ADHD assessments, support services and research. This leads to under recognition, misdiagnosis and inadequate treatment and supports of both inattentive presentation ADHD and female-specific issues related to ADHD. Different sectors and levels of government fail to coordinate and integrate their support services for people with ADHD. This creates gaps, overlaps and confusion in accessing education, health, disability, and social services. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) staff, and feeder service staff incorrectly prevent and discourage people with ADHD as a primary disability from making access requests. This flows to review mechanisms, including the Australian Administrative Tribunal. This excludes and isolates many people with ADHD from accessing not just NDIS support, but any support at all. Many people with ADHD cannot afford or access ADHD medication, especially those who are not eligible for Medicare or PBS subsidies. This limits their treatment options and affects their quality of life.
The impact of ADHD on individuals, families, and society: Children and adults with ADHD have a significantly reduced life expectancy and are more likely to die prematurely from various causes, such as accidents, suicide, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and substance abuse. The reduction in life expectancy ranges from 9 to 13 years for people with ADHD compared to those without ADHD. The risk of premature death is higher for those with more severe ADHD symptoms, comorbid disorders, and untreated ADHD. In Australia, this means that (statistically) about 1,900 deaths per year would be attributable to ADHD, but further study would be necessary to investigate. Children and adults with ADHD are more likely to suffer from various chronic physical and mental health conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, allergies, sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and antisocial behavior. These conditions can impair the quality of life and functioning of people with ADHD and increase their health care costs and utilization. In Australia, the annual health system cost of ADHD is estimated to be $546 million. Children and adults with ADHD face various economic challenges and disadvantages, such as lower educational attainment, lower income, higher unemployment, higher poverty, lower productivity, higher criminality, higher health care expenses, and higher social service costs. The annual cost of ADHD to the Australian society is estimated to be $20.4 billion, which comprises $12.8 billion in financial costs and $7.6 billion in wellbeing costs.
Awareness of ADHD: ADHD is not a result of poor parenting, low intelligence, or moral weakness. ADHD is a lifelong condition that can persist from childhood to adulthood and affect various aspects of life. The importance of recognising ADHD as a genetic, neurological medical condition, requiring medication as a first line of successful management, and not a behavioural issue, cannot be overstated. Health professionals, educators, employers and the public lack awareness and understanding of ADHD, which causes stigma, discrimination and underdiagnoses of ADHD. Research funding for ADHD in Australia is inadequate, which hampers the development of evidence-based practice guidelines, interventions, and policies for people with ADHD. This also limits the opportunities for innovation and collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by ADHD. Children with ADHD typically receive a disproportionate percentage of school based harassment, both from peers, and education staff. Routinely EAPs are formulated in opposition to recommendations made by specialist practitioners, and children are severely punished for not meeting the often odious or impossible goals. Detentions, responsibilities, suspensions, supervision and expulsions are common place. In the classroom, ignorant and unqualified teachers harass students and parents to stop behaviours they, from no basis, deem developmentally inappropriate. Time off to be with the excluded children is often supported by employers, higher education facilities, until they decide that enough is enough. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that has a strong genetic basis. ADHD is associated with structural and functional differences in the brain, especially in the regions involved in attention, executive function, emotion regulation and reward processing. ADHD is also influenced by environmental factors that can affect gene expression and brain development. The name ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is inadequate and misleading for several reasons. First, it implies that the core symptoms of the disorder are only attention deficit and hyperactivity, while ignoring the causal and key features such as impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, and executive dysfunction. Second, it suggests that attention deficit and hyperactivity are always present and equally severe in all cases of ADHD, while ignoring the heterogeneity and variability of the disorder across individuals, subtypes, and contexts. Third, it conveys a negative and stigmatising view of the disorder as a deficit or a problem, while ignoring the strengths and potential of people with ADHD.
Conclusion The writing is on the wall, whether you read it or not is irrelevant to its truth; improve the outcomes for people with ADHD and the entire nation will benefit, go on ignoring its magnitude and we will continue the cycle again, until the next generation finally addresses it. Addressing it represents net savings for the Commonwealth Government, and the states and territories. I think we could find other ways to spend $7 billion dollars than on badly managing ADHD in Australia.
I am happy to answer more questions or speak to any of the points raised herein.

2023.06.10 16:49 ArugulaVast780 AITA for telling my mom to take what I believe is her share of the inheritance? ( tw: cancer and potentially upsetting topics )

I and my brother are both busy people. I work full time, running my own business — my brother is a student in a very small seminary. Last year, my grandmother, who was 91, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
My grandma was a raging hypochondriac all of her life. If she heard that someone was sick, she suddenly had exactly all of the symptoms they had. You couldn’t be any sicker than her. She was difficult, mean, and downright hateful. Still, my mom bought a house and lived right by her and took care of this terribly thankless woman for nearly FORTY years. Because, as my mom put it, she’s always been sick and ‘required’ care.
My mom stayed three days in the hospital with her and then nearly two weeks in a nursing home. I visited every day, and my brother came home from school … because the nursing home discharged her and sent her home.
Here, it was up to us to take care of her. Hospice came every two days, they gave us the morphine and all that we needed to make her comfortable. We were there 24/7, my brother missed a month of school, and who wasn’t there but maybe once or twice a week and also lived ten minutes away? My uncle, my grandmother’s son.
Don’t get me wrong, I love him. But he didn’t do very much to be of assistance to us during this very traumatic time.
We sat there, my mom and brother were there when my grandmother took her last breath. But my extended family didn’t come around for the funeral planning — They griped about the fact that we didn’t have had enough money to buy a headstone immediately ( both of my cousins make significantly more money than I could ever dream of making ) so we bought a headstone, but it was the one my grandma wanted and not the one they wanted.
My uncle didn’t get much in the will. But we decided to give him the family farm, because he already farms it and we don’t want it. He will make all of the crop earnings, which most of them were going to my grandma, and I told my mom to take what very little my grandma had left in the terms of money. Her house was falling apart, and we got very little from it — my mom was so traumatized by the ordeal that we moved away, and the little money that is left would be helpful to get my mom cushioned and for her not to have to worry about money. She lives modestly and doesn’t spend very much other than the essentials.
…now here’s the big issue. My uncle wants half of the money. I told my mom to keep all of it, because she got it in the will and I don’t feel that my uncle deserves it. Am I the asshole?

2023.06.10 16:48 itsnotmyfault44 AITA for expecting time frames/dates for family visits?

My husband invited MIL to visit (she’s 5 hours away) this past week. They also decided, without involving me in the conversation, that our kids (12,14) would be going home with her for a visit when she left. I don’t have any problem with her visiting, especially when it’s planned. For the first 10 years of our relationship his parents would just show up at our door unannounced and stay for 5 days. This obviously caused some major issues between us. They eventually learned that they had to give us advance notice since we had kids, jobs, lives, etc.
Somehow this visit went from being MIL, to MIL, his sister, and her 2 kids (7, 9 months) coming as well. It’s not clear if she invited herself or if MIL invited her. I wasn’t included in that conversation either. I love the kids and the 7 year old is my sweet little sidekick, but I also started a new job a few months ago and it is very stressful and demanding, so that’s a lot of unexpected visitors to accommodate and feed. While they’re here, my stepson, his wife, and her 2 kids are also here every day/evening. So in addition to the 4 of us, there are an additional 8 people in the house when I get home from work.
Since the kids still living at home were leaving I looked into taking a quick getaway trip for just the two of us and requested a few days off work. He asked his mom if she would be willing to stay and kid/dog sit for the 3 days but she declined. She doesn’t like dogs or animals in general. No big deal, we made other arrangements for the dogs. I asked my husband repeatedly when she would be heading home so I could plan our trip, but he didn’t know and she would not give him a date. This is not new, she has always avoided giving telling how long she’ll be staying.
The night before they were set to arrive, she called and said they would stay through the weekend. My SIL’s nephew (my husband’s brother’s wife’s nephew) passed away under very sad circumstances and she wanted to stay for the funeral, but didn’t know when it would be. Mind you, she met the nephew once when he was a child at their wedding but didn’t really know him. By this time we had already cancelled the trip plans but still planned to spend time alone together. I was upset at the last minute change and that she had already left the visit open ended, but even that was extended to a further unknown date. My husband then got furious with me for being frustrated with the situation. Not mad, but definitely frustrated, and he thinks I owe him an apology for “ruining” his time with his mother by being frustrated. My relationship with my family is very strained so I don’t always know if my feelings are valid or if it’s because of my upbringing, but I also feel that it’s basic houseguest etiquette to tell your hosts how long you will be staying. AITA?

2023.06.10 16:30 rissaroo28 Book 4: Chapters 36 and 37

Welcome back Middlemarchers! We hit some rather long chapters this week, so I apologize if I omitted any details—plenty of room for discussion. And I’m fascinated to hear what you all think about the direction the book is taking.
Summary
Chapter 36
After the bombshell that is Featherstone's will, Mr. Vincy starts frantically worrying about his children’s future status in society and financial stability. He first targets Fred, for whom he has scant sympathy. He advises Fred to return to college and complete his education, but it remains unclear in this chapter whether Fred will follow this advice.
With the anticipated wealth and land no longer coming his way, Mr. Vincy starts to question the engagement between Lydgate and his daughter, Rosamond. He instructs his wife to persuade Rosamond to break off the engagement. Rosamond, however, remains steadfast and uses subtle manipulation to convince her father to not call off the engagement publicly. Lydgate, a man of higher social standing but modest financial means, remains largely unaware of the family's monetary difficulties until Rosamond mentions her father's altered stance to him. Fearing that Mr. Vincy might dissolve the engagement against their wishes, the chapter concludes with the couple deciding to fast-track their wedding date.
Chapter 37
This chapter unfolds with an analysis of the ongoing political environment at both local and national levels: the demise of George the Fourth has left the government transforming. The local political newspapers are similarly experiencing a shift. One such paper, The Pioneer, has recently put forth an article claiming it's an opportune time for competent men to play more significant roles in politics. The chapter kicks off with two peripheral characters, Mr. Hawley and Mr. Hackbutt, theorizing that the article points towards Mr. Brooke, fueled by rumors of his recent acquisition of the paper. As it transpires, the rumors are accurate.
Ladislaw continues his stay with Mr. Brooke and it is revealed that Brooke has proposed a job at the paper to Ladislaw. Ladislaw is giving the offer serious thought. Concurrently, Mr. Casaubon is expressing hostility towards Ladislaw's presence in the vicinity, something everyone but Mr. Brooke appears to be cognizant of. Ladislaw has been circumventing Casaubon, yet he also yearns to meet Dorothea. One day, he starts sketching near Casaubon’s residence, in hopes of catching a glimpse of Dorothea on her daily stroll. However, rain forces him to take refuge in the house, which, fortunately, Casaubon has vacated for the day.
Dorothea is thrilled at the prospect of conversing with Ladislaw since Casaubon appears uninterested in her opinions. They discuss various topics, mostly revolving around the shared family history of Casaubon and Ladislaw. Ladislaw brings up the job offer and Dorothea advises him to seek Casaubon's viewpoint.
Later, an irked Casaubon returns home and upon learning of Ladislaw’s visit, voices his displeasure about Mr. Brooke offering Ladislaw a job. He pens a letter to Ladislaw the following day, advising him to decline the job offer and relocate.
Having gleaned more about their family history, Dorothea ponders over the ethical correctness of Ladislaw’s reliance on Casaubon. She is a woman deeply ingrained in the conventions of her era, specifically primogeniture. Nevertheless, the Casaubon/Ladislaw situation lacks the clarity she desires, as both men are descendants of two sisters, neither of whom should have had sole claim to the family wealth. The narrative suggests that Ladislaw’s father was older than Casaubon, hence, he should have been the rightful heir as the firstborn male in the lineage. Dorothea, aware of Casaubon’s will favoring her, wishes to restore some justice for Ladislaw. One night, she voices her desire to Casaubon; she wants him to assign a living allowance to Ladislaw, owing to his moral and potential legal rights. She also proposes that Casaubon amend his will, reallocating a larger part of her inheritance upon Casaubon’s demise to Ladislaw.
Casaubon shrugs off her proposal and prohibits her from ever broaching the subject again. The chapter closes on an ominous note, with Casaubon resolved to thwart Ladislaw’s decision to stay in the area and accept the job, by any means necessary.

2023.06.10 16:29 EstablishmentNeat650 None of the common divorce reasons… our living situation just isn’t viable and he’s married to his job.

I (31 F) have been married to my DH (33 M) for 7 years. We have a son (4.5 years) and a daughter (3 years). We moved to the town I grew up in when I was pregnant with our son because my parents offered to be the primary babysitters while we worked and went to school. Fast forward almost 5 years and an additional kid later, my parents are burned out on helping. So we are paying for full time daycare on my daughter all year and my son during the summer (he’s in all-day public preschool in the school year). Essentially, the purpose of moving back to this town no longer exists. And the job I took just to make it by while my husband was in physician assistant school has gone fro. $43k/ year to $60k/ year within 2 year and have 2 more raises due for me this year. So it’s hard to walk away from.
DH took a job at a hospital 70 miles away when he graduated and passed his PANCE exam. It’s the highest paying entry level PA job in our state. He’s making $130k/ year plus full benefits and he gets quarterly bonuses for meeting certain goals. However due to his inconsistent schedule and second and third shift hours, he rents a studio apartment. He goes to his apartment and sleeps after he gets off work then he usually manages time pretty poorly before making it home to us the following day.
There’s no infidelity, no financial abuse, no alcoholism, no substance abuse, no controlling issues. I am just a married single mom and our family completely comes second to his job.
His job comes before everything. I believe that if I died, he wouldn’t even ask off for my funeral. He goes to work contagiously ill. He doesn’t take PTO. He lies to me with excuses about why he’s not allowed PTO even though I have his contract and he has generous PTO. The kids and I recently took a 5-day long vacation with my parents. He knew about it 5 months in advance and was supposed to request those vacation days off. He didn’t. He had 3 days off in the middle of our vacation so he came down and joined us for 2 days and then had to rush back to work.
His schedule is typically working anywhere from 1-4 days in a row on 12 hour shifts that are second shift hours and then being off anywhere from 1-4 days. Let’s say he worked 3 days in a row then is going to be off 3 days in a row. He gets off at midnight on day 3, goes to his apartment to sleep, wakes up around 9am or 10 am the next day, goes back into work for 2-3 hours to dictate patient notes, goes to the gym, then finally comes home in the late afternoon. Meanwhile I’ve been at work all day and there’s a million things that need to be done around the house but he’s not doing them because he hasn’t come home.
When he’s home, 90% of parenting is still on me. He takes some initiative to get things done and he actually isn’t a messy person himself at all. But if we need more than washed dishes and a swept floor, I have to give him a list.
We do not have a life as a couple. We have sex maybe once a week. It’s satisfying but before he was gone so much, it was 2-3 times per week. There’s no such thing as a date night. It’s rarely an outing with just him, me, and the kids. In the rare instances where we do go out as a family of 4, 9 times out of 10, he’s mean and irritable and has 0 patience with the kids merely existing. It tears my heart apart to see what I call “normal dads” in a baseline happy or chill mood just living life with their kids doing things. I am jealous of couples who hold hands and just regularly come home to one another. I envy women who get to hear their husband’s voice and see their face. My marriage seems like a text message, brief phone call relationship.
I’ve been expressing my unhappiness for a year. He promised therapy but never went. I’m in therapy and on meds. All my therapist says is that the decision to leave is ultimately up to me. I don’t really feel like I’m getting help in making the decision. I even paid like $400 for a program that supposedly helps women decide whether to stay or leave and it has not given me clarity. One day I feel like I want to serve him with divorce papers and get out of this lonely ass marriage immediately. The next day, I feel like I would be too susceptible to going back to him if I left. There is absolutely no other man in my life who is even remotely a dating prospect.
When I bring up separation and/or divorce, DH is very against it. I tell him I’m tired of being so lonely and living like a divorced family anyway. He says to give it another year before he can give up his apartment and buy a house. His solution for me having help with the kids is “hire somebody” but not actually taking any steps to help find a nanny.
I love him. I don’t want to leave. But I want a husband who doesn’t basically live somewhere else and who doesn’t put his job above family and health. We’ve talked about his priorities ad nauseam and he has made no changes; I don’t think he knows how, but his actions have shown that he will not go to therapy to learn.
This weekend, I’ll drive 45 minutes to meet his parents halfway between our house and theirs to drop my kids off for the night. I’m suffering an exponential mommy burnout. I’ll go out by myself to a local restaurant to watch my cousins play music. DH will be working. I hate this life. It’s a shame that we are salvageable but his job situation makes life as a family impossible. Is there anything I can do besides divorce him?

2023.06.10 16:19 thenovlewrighter i have been writing a novel pls rate it

5 nights at aftons
4pm ,location aftons house,
Golden Freddy does a head turn to look right at Jack.” Who are you¨ Jack shouts across the room.freddy says nothing but still looks at him. Jack runs and runs as fast as he can spamming the elevator button for safety.lucky the door shuts just in time but something doesn't feel right to jack the elevator is not moving then he sees a blur an animatronic he sees but he doesn't know this one.the robot 12 ft high burt skull face razor sharp teeth and claws wires sticking out everywhere ¨who…… who ……… are you¨jack says the robot looks down at him and says ¨death jack death¨ all the sudden it attacks him biting ripping skin off him from the wires.but jack sees a logo that says afton enterprise.bleeding bad Jack escapes the elevator running out the door of the house the robot chasing him but wants he out the door the robot is flung back from something ¨hummmmmmmmm so they can't leave the house¨ jack says taunting the robot so called death.
Jack goes home to his apartment on the other side of town. When he gets home he treats the wounds trying not to scream in pain. And then he just lays down like that. Hoping nothing attacks him in his sleep.
¨hello¨ ¨ what did i do to you¨ ¨everything ̈ .errr errr errr ¨uhhhhh the pain.¨ Jack says looking at the alarm clock hitting snooze. getting out of bed jack turns on the lights to see his bandages came undone and his bed was covered in blood.later that morning jack went to the er to get stitches from the attack the nurse looks at him and says what happened to you jack just says ¨death¨ thats what happened the doctor stitches him up and sends him on his way when he drives by aftons house he sees death still waiting for him to come back in.¨not today he says¨ looking out the window.all the sudan his car exploded throwing jack in the air. Just then he walks to one of the doors with the flashlight he just so happenly found by him. He opens the door to see if he hears or sees anything just then he hears something breathing. He turns on the flashlight to see a fredy with sharp teeth and a messed up body.Just then it runs at him terrified he quickly shuts the door and turns the flash light out. Then Freddy runs in the room and goes out the other door.he wakes up to his alarm which was for some reason set at 6 o'clock. Jack thinks nothing of it and turns on the TV to see the news is talking about the attack yesterday “police dragged under ground by strange tentacles after magor car crash”the headline said.jack didn't want to listen to it so he just turned the tv off.a few minutes later the nurse walks in and checks him out of the hospital.when zoey comes to pick him up he sees the same burnt bonnie he saw that night.when jack got in the car it was gone again.jack thought nothing of it and went on with his day.jack and zoey where trying to figure out where to finger lunch out when zoey says “how bout we go to fazbears pizzeria for lunch” as much as jack does not want to go back there he says “sure”.when they get settled in the restaurant jack sees a new chica.when the waitress comes up the order there food and talk awhile when the food comes out there's a $100 check that say your pay jack quickly takes it and stuffs it in his jacket before anyone notices. When jack and zoey leave the restaurant some guy gives jack a letter when jack gets home he reads the letter saying
Dear jack
I know about what happened with the animatronics that night so I'm giving you a second chance. So i need you to watch my house
willam afton
“Really this fool thinks i'm going to watch the house i almost died in no way”Jack says to him self.there was a knock at his door then when he opened the door it was the landlord “give me your keys you haven't paid rent for a week” he says. Jack doesn't know what to say so his mouth does it for him “5 more days and i'll have your money sir” the landlord responds with “fine but if you don't have the money i'm changing the lock” as he walks away.jack grabs his keys rights his will and goes to the house.when jack enters the house though it's different instead of being a run down dump it was beautiful marble staircase ,golden chandeliers, and instead of the robot death there was a butler at the door. When Jack went into the backyard there was a smoothie stand, a big clean pool and palm trees.william afton walks out and then shows jack the security room. There were 5 flat screen TVs for each part of the house. There were also vent cameras if he pressed shift on the keyboard.the door had 5 layers of plexi glass in case something happened .then willam showed him a secret room with a bed tv bathroom and a fridge full of hot pockets and corn on blue.soon willam left and jacks shift started to be continued.Knock knock knock jack herer at the plexiglass door jack looks to see who it is to see the butler when jack opens the door he is offered a beverage from the butler.jack kindly accept it and looks at the camera “nothing strange yet”jack thinks to himself as he takes a sip of his drink.7 o'clock hits so jack locks the door and takes a nap planning to wake up at 12.the time comes and jack gets up but before he goes in the other room he warms up some hot pockets. When Jack looks at the cameras he sees a shadow of the bonni.jack keeps the door lock just in case if something happens when he looks out the door he sees the skeleton robot waiting for it to open.``really i thought this guy was gone” jack thinks to himself when he sees the same chicka he destroyed at the pizzeria rolling around on a skateboard. Then he sees the thing he fears the most: the burnt bonnie at the door jack almost spilt his drink on him he was so scared.then he goes in his room grabs the sheet of his bed and the roll of tape off the table. Jack puts the sheet on the plexiglass door just to keep him calm during the job.Painting Jack takes a sip of his drink. 4 o'clock 5 o'clock 6 o'clock confetti covers the floor. Good job the camera says you completed your 1st night.when jack takes down the sheet to see if the robot was still there it was gone when he checked every room in the house there were no more robots.with relief jack goes in his room to take a napThe rest of the day Jack sits by the pool drinking smoothies and eating pineapple.his watch goes off 5 o'clock 5 o'clock Jack turns it off and heads inside.when he gets to his room he locks the door and takes a nap. When 7 hits he goes in the other room puts the sheet on the door and watches tick tock on his phone waiting for 6 o'clock when he hears something crawling through the vents jack grabs the nearby ax and waits when the creature comes through the vent he swings when he hears “patron sir are you trying to kill the buttlar” the vent opened and the buttlar stuck his head out and started to come in.”wait how do i know you're actually the butler you could just be a robot”jack says “i have no proof but i also trust you” the buttlar says, the buttlar comes in with a duffle bag.soda, chips, tablets, rubix cubes, and pizza.”dude how much stuff did you bring” jack says “enuf to last the rest of the week”.few hours go by and more confetti covers the floor.congrats the screen says you survived night 2.”this is only going to get harder”jack says plugging in the devices.”there's going to be more of them soon”the buttlar says. “My name's jack”jack says “brysan” the buttlar says sticking out his hand “Knock knock KNock” here at the door.the butler slowly lifts the sheet then braysan jumps back.”what is it?” Jack says looking terrified, brayson says “a…….a……..burnt bonnie suit”.”thank lord im not the only one who sees him”jack says.then the door falls on the ground leaving the sheet up still though.”quick in the vents!”brayson hollers. They quickly throw everything in the duffle bag and climb in.then they see the burnt bonnie suit walking around trying to find them then it says “jack come out” then it hits jack the voice the robot everywhere it was afton.the whole time how did he not figure that out he thinks to himself crawling through the vents.then braysan is gone “braysan!”Jack hollers, then something grabs him,“ahhh!” Jack screams trying to get the grip off then he sees it is just a robotic hand then it pulls him looking at the hand again he sees its covered in blue fur. When the arm stops dragging him he sees himself in the old axols bbq that had been closed for a while after an unknown accident.he sees the old rusted robot suits and stays away from them in case they were dangerous too.jack sees a door with a blood lock (which would require him to give it blood to open) he bangs on the door for help but nothing happens.jack walks over to the old robots to see they had many malfunctions then out of nowhere one turns on and starts singing.then the blood lock door opens and he sees a tall figure who pulls him in. In the room Jack sees braysan in the corner with a bottle of water and bandaging.”What happened to you?” Jack asks, looking terrified at braysan. “The alligator thing got me” he says.jack looks at the man and says “who are you” “names cael i'm the owner of here” jack sits down and starts eating his room tempetar smushed corn on blue from the security room.”how do we get out of here” brayson say “you can't” cael respondes.”the only way in and out are the vents but somethings in there and it doesn't want us leaving” cael says. In the corner of the room jack see vials with things like ink, wood, blue fur, piece of cloth, and metal scraps.”what's that” jack ask “things i got from other areas” says cael.”what do you mean” braysan ask.”have you heard of the backrooms if so it's kinda like that accept more monsters so far i encounter killer dolls animatronics a murder ink monster and old person zombie”but i can't get past the doll.”i think i know who made this world besides you” jack says “what do you mean” cael says “i mean william afton made this nightmare world i saw him he has the burnt bonnie suite on he wants to kill all of us do you understand!” jack hallers. “That's it i'm taking a walk” cael says.when the door closes jack hears a loud slam in the wall and then a few swear word.jack rushes out side with the ax to see caels arm has been ripped off by axol.jack gats cael back in the room and bandages it up.”OK NEW RULE YALL NO GOING OUT ALONE”braysan. Then they hear a sound outside like a blade scraping metal then the door opens.Jack, cael, and braysan stand up fast to fight.then they see a person with 2 swords and one robot arm in his hand.jack looks up in shock and says “I thought i killed you” “what” the person says “i hit you with my car 5 months ago” jack says “that was you” “yes” “then you'll die” the person runs towards jack with both swords by his sides .before he can hit jack cael stops him with the ax and says”he's a survivor he can help us find the way out so lets not kill each other” the person looks and looks angrily and says “fine he can live but one wrong move and he's dead got it” “what's your name” jack ask “orion” “Orion cannon”orion says sitting down with axols arm attaching it to cael with the remaining muscles and bone left when he's done the arm works how cael needs it to like a normal arm.when he gets up he grabs a pull string bag and canteen while putting food in the bag jack ask “what are you doing” “going back to level 3 there's been crying in there for a while trying to find where its coming from” orion says “but what if there's more robots” jack says “dont worry theres not just killing toys like this big blue one and a pink a big spider and lots more” orion answers “but how do you get there” braysan ask “the vents” “then we should all go” jack says “why you have a death wish or something” orion says ¨yes yes i do¨ jack says ¨after all i survived i'm sure i should live till we escape ¨ ¨fine let's go then we got to be back by 8 or were dead¨orion says.they climb up in the vents and start crawling to the next level when they get out they see a abandoned toy factory and here crying¨where is that coming from¨cael ask ¨that's the thing there's no human life here¨orion says. After awhile of walking the floor fell in on cael dropping him straight down when every one checks to see if he alive they hear ¨y'all come down hear and bring flashlights¨ so orion past out flashlights and they all jumped down when they landed they turned on the flash lights to see a girl with ripped up clothes and cuts all over her “Who are you” the girl says looking terrified “orion, jack, cael, braysan.”orion says staring the girl down “were looking for survivors”cael quickly says looking rather nervous “and who are you” braysan says “gabby”the girl says.”ok well you can join us we have food and soda”cael said.”thanks but i'm good”gabby said getting up.orion quickly pulled a sword from his bag and gave it to gabby “how many of those things do you even have”braysan said in shock “about 50 at least” orion said “yall we need to get going we don't have long till it comes out” gabby says “till what comes out” cale says “the spider”gabby said “wait what does it look like”jack says “its pink 4 arms and is plastic”gabby says “kind of like the toy from when i was a kid mommy long legs” braysan replies.”well if that's the thing we need to leave”orion says.”where are you children” a voice says. “RUN!” gabby hallers. The group runs straight to the vent climbing as fast as they can. Eventually they get back to base.”welp we're screwed” jack says “sissy”orion says.”ill show u a sissy after i kick your” “stop!” ceal says “if were going to survive we need to get along last thing we need is orion skinning jack” “so you're saying i'm too weak to beat him in a fight” jack says in anger “no i'm just saying orion will cut your head off your body and cook u over a fire faster than u can say a word” cale says back “know what this is stupid i'm leaving” jack says walking out “well should we remind him of the robots”braysan says “maybe later” gabby responds later y=the group hears bloody scream from outside “orion” cale says “go save him before he bleeds out” “fine but i don't want to” orion responds but when orion walks out he sees its just a cat “O my god your scared of a cat” orion says laffing taking jack back in the room.letter orion tells everyone how jack was scared of the cat.then they get some rest.that morning when they realize jack was gone.”we can't let him die!” gabby says “yes we can we just don't look for him “ orion says “one more negative comet about jack and you'll look for him yourself” cael says in anger.when the group gets there gear ready they head outside when they climb in the vent there was lots of blue fir and blood terrified they followed it.when they got to the end of the trail they see a drop out of the vent when they got out they saw they were in a old studio everything though was black and white and ink was everywhere. After looking around for a while they found bacon soup and a poster that said wilson the slayer of the ink demon.”¨ahh! What was that? ``Cale said, jumping back.''what do you mean"Orion responds "something just ran past my legs".Then a black goo spider jumped at gaby 'get off me! Get it off me!"she screamed "calm down "orion said, cutting it in half with a sword.then the black goo on the floor disintegrated.''wow what was that"braysan said, amazed. "Proof that we were not alone"cale said.``well then let's find the mastermind behind it"braysan said.``bet it's afton"Orion said.after a while of exploring they heard a sound it was laughing not from something funny just laughing like a crazy person. When they looked around the corner they saw jack on the floor in a ball laughing nonstop “we need to get him out of here” cale said slowly going towards jack but then an animatronic face opened up and started screaming at them “that's not jack”bryson said “ya this place must be here to scare and confuse us we need to go back to the shelter before we all go crazy” the group started heading back to the shelter when they cot to the shelter they all got food and went to sleep.``Thump!” what was that gabby said getting out of bed just to see no one was there where did they go gaby touht getting on a jacket heading out just to see all their bodys dead on the floor with jack and some burt rabbit suit standing next to him then she woke up “so should we go back to the mall again to find jack or to the mansion” they heard orion saying “we shouldn't look for jack” gabby said “why” cael responded “this dream i had yalls dead bodys were piled up outside and he was standing there with a burnt rabbit suit next to him” gabby said “i saw that rabbit suit at the mansion he tried to get in the room with us” bryson said.``then we should go do the mansion” cael said packing extra materials in his bag “maybe we could find who is in that rabbit suit” orion said. The group eventually got to the mansion and started exploring they saw the room in shreds the bed was ripped up the tvs ripped off the wall and claw marks in the wall the group headed down stairs and saw a body not anybody a child's body when they got closer the saw it was crying orion pulled his sword out and ask her “what's wrong are you hurt” the little kid said “he's coming” then they saw a burt rabbit suit standing where the kid was. The burt rabbit suit just tilted his head and started waveying at them then they saw jack. Jack was covered in blood with a knife in his hand smiling not like he was happy but like he was crazy then gabby screamed the group looked over and saw the kid dead on the floor with blood oozing out of it. “You monster” Orion said, pulling out a sword and taking a slash the head came off the suit just for them to realize that wasn't the real suit. Jack then charged at Orion with the knife Orion then stabbed him with a sword in the leg making him go to the ground. The group fled while hearing Jack scream in pain “we can't just leave him there” gabby said terrified as they ran “yes we can he just tried to murder us and he killed a child and he's not going to die just be in pain for a while” orion said. When the group got back to the base they all went to sleep.the next morning they woke up and got ready soon they went back to the mansion to see if jack was still there but he was not but the sword was on the ground covered in a green substance. Cael put the substance in a beaker and back in his bag. They headed back and tested what the substance was. It would only respond to heat by trying to get out.”I don't think that was jack you stabbed Orion” cael said. “What do you mean it was his face his body how” orion responded. This substance is alive and we saw the bunny suit was fake so what if jack was fake” cael said. “That makes science” gabby said. Then orion slashed the wall the substance ozzed out of it. “This is all fake” Orion screamed “all of it is”. “Calm down orion there must be a reason” then jack walked through the door fast orion stabbed him in the throat more of the substance oozing out of it and jack smiled before turning into a pile of the green substance. The ozz started crawling away

2023.06.10 16:17 bin_of_slurpees Highly Recommend Carr and Porter books on stopping drinking

I ended a thirty-year drinking career six months ago under the influence of, first, a therapist (had me go through one of those checklists where you think you're doing pretty good checking only a few boxes and then the punchline is "any one of these indicates a likely drinking problem") and, through random serendipitous chance, almost immediately reading Alcohol Explained by William Porter. That book is similar to David Carr's Easy Way to Control Alcohol in that both try to attack what Carr calls the "brainwashing" that leads us to think alcohol (and, by analogy, other substances) "fix" things that are missing in us or truly provide a "crutch" (e.g., making us "more comfortable" and "less inhibited" in social situations). In fact, of course, the substances we abuse create almost every problem we think we are "fixing" by imbibing.
I read Alcohol Explained first, back in December and January. I just read the Carr book (actually, in both cases, I listened to audio versions, which was a great way to do it, I thought). Both of them talk about the fact that humans are basically born with a highly developed ability to socialize. Look at children at a birthday party. Perhaps a little shyness for the first 20 minutes, then bam, shrieking and running around together and not wanting to leave two hours later. Of course there are SOME people who develop some issues for various reasons and experiences, but nowhere NEAR as many as the people who gradually become convinced they "can't" feel comfortable in social situations without alcohol. But if you think alcohol is truly "helping" you socialize, fixing some congenital defect, ask yourself: How come this problem didn't really arise until after some significant exposure to alcohol?
Carr in particular emphasizes the importance of not changing what you do just because you quit drinking (with the exception of activities that you ONLY do for the alcohol, like hanging at a bar with fellow barflies you met there and only see there), because--since his book does such a good job eliminating the brainwashing that makes you think alcohol "helps" in some way and that its absence will be a problem--well, there won't be a problem.
This may sound crazy to some of you, but I have found it to be true. Five days after quitting drinking, I went to a New Year's Eve party thrown by neighbors in my extremely alcohol-friendly neighborhood. So, people I like, but people who DEFINITELY enjoy drinking. Bottles all over the counter, just about everyone with an alcoholic beverage in hand. And yes, I felt slightly awkward for twenty minutes and then I got talking and suddenly it was two hours later and I was having a great time (and not feeling so "uninhibited" that I started slurring my way through great long know-it-all speeches but actually enjoying a back and forth and learning things about my friends I hadn't known before). Literally NO ONE sniffed my glass and demanded to know where my required alcohol was, and if they had, I'd have known they weren't really my friend.
And last night, almost six months clean, I once again went out to a nearby restaurant/balive music venue where a lot of my neighbors hang out. There was an awesome funk band playing, and I was home alone with my 12-year-old daughter who told me she wasn't sleepy. So, at 8 p.m., we walked over. Time was, at 8 p.m. on a Friday, I would already have been drunk and high. I might still have taken my daughter out, but in that condition should I really have been crossing streets without a stop light, navigating dark city streets (pretty safe rural city, but still)? And my daughter's 12 now--how much longer did I really have before she would be really consciously noticing how different I am intoxicated, and how unsafe would that be making her feel? Surely it was already happening by the time I quit.
As it was, we sat with friends, enjoyed the music, she had a slushy and I had a soda water (looked just like everyone's vodka drinks or whatever and NO ONE CARED ANYWAY), and I enjoyed not only the music but NOT feeling my gut fill up with alcohol and greasy food I wouldn't otherwise have eaten. My friends were jolly and fun but also their cheeks started hanging loose and they got that stare a drunk gets when maybe they are on the edge of too much, and I knew in the morning they would be feeling the after effects and I would be well rested and fresh. And perhaps best of all--and this is one of my favorite parts of not drinking, how I can now be responsible and a protector of my family, and at any moment I can drive them to the ER without risking a DUI--I knew I wouldn't be drunk-walking my daughter home through traffic and dark streets reeking of booze.
My friends, it was awesome, and I did not miss drinking for a second.
I highly recommend these two books.

2023.06.10 15:48 No-Fault581 I cut off my grandparents from my life over a dog.Should I reconcile?

Well this is kind of long story but here we go.My parents divorced when I was 10.My mom remarried a year later so my brother and I went to live with my father, his grandparents and uncle. I also brought my 4 month old puppy (at the time)my mom bought for me days prior before she left us with our father.I truly loved my grandparents, they were so welcoming and I enjoyed spending time with them. But of course as time went by I started noticing they made sure that dog is only mine and no one elses. It made me irritated that everyone was reminding me it was MY dog. They took good care of her tho.Things went downhill after we moved from my grandparents home. And apartment we were moving to didn’t allow dogs.So we left her there.I was expected to walk her everyday which is normal, but dog was too strong for me(I had like 50kg at most and our dog had 25kg),I was really weak and tiny.I begged my family to go to a walk with me,but everyone brushed it off saying it’s my dog and my responsibility. So my friend would go for walks with me when she had time.I was already 15 at the time. But she stopped after my dog dislocated her shoulder after one of the walks.I was left alone, and I couldn’t fulfill my responsibility.I also felt super hurt no one from my family wouldn’t go out with us for a walk.Fast forward when I was 19,time when I cut ties with my grandparents. My brother showed up with my dog to our former family home(no one lived there)and said it’s your responsibility now, grandparents can’t take care of her anymore. It was after freaking 7 years! And it was also days before I moved to another country for college.I started freaking out, crying, hyperventilating, fainting, shouting how can they do this to me?!Was this dog worth nothing to them?In the moment I said to my brother I want to do nothing with them, I will come to visit them at their funeral.I admit it wasn’t nice to say but I was too hurt, and of course my brother didn’t miss to inform them everything I said that day.Thing I figured out is that my grandparents wanted to send our dog to my moms house since it was a dog my mom bought for me.And I couldn’t risk that.My mom had cats there and my little half siblings were like 5 at the time. And my dog was too aggressive towards small animals and children.I had no choice then to leave our dog at former family house(my moms mom property).I went there to feed her and play with her but dog run away after only three days. Before running away neighbors also called us to inform dog was crying all the time. After two days of unsuccessful search my dog found way back to my grandparents house by herself. They decided to keep her. I went to university and later met my boyfriend and moved even further away. I couldn’t face my grandparents,I tried to sneak and see my dog couple of times, but it was impossible so I would only see her from distance. Fast forward to today,it’s been 4 years since I talked with my grandparents and uncle. They never called me,and I didn’t want to be first one to make efforts to reconcile since I thought they were in the wrong. My dog died two years ago after long therapy for heart worm. It’s breaking my heart I couldn’t see her.And now I’m afraid my grandparents will die before I reconcile with them.I was hurt back then, felt betrayed and unloved and I still do to some extent. But time went by and I feel like I should put everything behind and try to be the first one who will make a move.
So please help me,what should I do?How can I reconcile with them? I feel too anxious only thinking about meeting them after all this time.
This is whole story but without many details since it would be way too long. Also english is not my first language, sorry for any writing mistakes.
Hope you can help me. Have a nice day.

2023.06.10 15:45 Reasonable_Waltz_646 A Day in Fury (A Falling Down Fan Edit)

A Day in Fury (A Falling Down Fan Edit)
I just updated reddit so now I can add text to my movie releases which is cool) So I saw Falling Down quiet recently actually like maybe 3 weeks ago I think I've heard about but never had the time to watch it and while watching it I liked the story but the whole sideplot with the cop really bored me hell I was watching it with my parents and one of them fell asleep, I learned someone made a version called Under Construction which is a good alternative title, but one thing I thought that ruined it was the ending as it was still the same, not saying all fan edit movie endings should be different but that one thing that ruined it was that with the new story wise The cop appearing and knowing everything about William D-Fens is that it didn't make sense, because its like where did this guy come from? So I took it upon myself to make my own version of the movie, So I got a Blu-Ray of it and got to working on it, it felt nice as it was a break from doing The Life Of Spiderman series or doing movies that have a trilogy or Saga's so it was nice, I changed the name of the movie to A Day in Fury which fun fact is the Spanish name for the movie.
