Wolverine 1000 Mile MocToe - My Journey + Mistakes
2023.06.10 20:15 callm3fusion Wolverine 1000 Mile MocToe - My Journey + Mistakes
Hi GYW,
Its my routine boot care day and I was reminiscing about my first pair of GYW boots, so I thought it would be fun to show an example of how you can mess up every single thing, break all the rules of boot purchasing and care we've learned here in GYW... and still end up with a pretty great pair of boots.
I started my journey back in early 2018, I was a 22 year old Produce manager at a grocery store and a buddy of mine was going on and on about how Wolverine 1000 mile boots were the greatest boots ever made. It peaked my interest so I did some
hardcore research on these boots (2 google searches, and a scroll through their website). I was sold. But fuck, $400? That's a whole paycheck for me. I had moved back in with my parents after a breakup and had some disposable income but still..$400?? So, I put the idea on the back burner, and then they consumed every thought I was having.
Fast forward to March and I was at a Nordstrom's Rack with my mom just perusing the men's shoe department... lo and behold. There was a freaking pair of 1000 miles for $199.99. Pretty much half off! Not the ones I was originally looking at but still, cant beat half price.
Now, you have to remember, I knew NOTHING about GYW/Heritage boots. I had some Timberland hiking boots from boy scouts but nothing about this side of the boot world.
I was a 10.5 in running shoes, and these were a 10.5....perfect. I got them. Used a generic Instagram filter and showed the world.
https://imgur.com/dnAYBzt https://imgur.com/a/fIRmgYN After the first week of wearing these I was bummed, crushed, defeated, full of regret, because my feet were fucking swimming in them, I couldn't tighten the laces enough to keep my feet in place and they were getting scratched as all hell (which sucked because I just spent 200 hard earned dollars on them and I wanted them to look nice). I also have
atrocious arches so the lack of any support in these things absolutely killed my feet and knees. (over the years I discovered I'm actually a 9-9.5D depending on brand)
Since I had bad knees I decided to say screw it and throw a set of SuperFeet green insoles in them that I had laying around and ya know what, it helped. Gave me about 1/4-1/2" within the boot that helped me fill it out a bit. Night and Day difference. They no longer hurt to wear. I rolled with this for a couple months but was still really frustrated about how they were creasing and folding in weird places.
https://imgur.com/T0RGgLc A couple months later I stumbled upon a reddit post that mentioned you're supposed to condition your boots to help keep the leather moisturized and extend the life...And that was the extent of the research I did. I proceeded to go on amazon and bought Doc Martens Wonderbalm and a bottle of Lexol from amazon recommended. I proceeded to condition the ever loving fuck out of these boots. When I say I over did it, I mean there was a time I was doing it after almost
every wear.
Later, I found another reddit post that basically said "hey there speed racer slow the hell down, only do it every six months or so unless you're abusing the hell out of them in super dry conditions". I'm a PNW guy, so that didn't apply to me... and I slowed down a bit (albeit not as much as I should have).
Its now 2023, I've since found
goodyearwelt and other leather boot subreddits. Purchased Whites, Chippewas, Iron Rangers, and various other leather shoes/boots. I have invested in brushes and other polishes and creams too. I still wear these boots semi-regularly with that same set of SuperFeet insoles and a new set of laces. They hold a special place in my heart as the pair of boots that led me down a path of boot discovery and obsession. Although a cocaine addiction might have been cheaper....
I love them, they're not perfect, they're by far not the greatest boot ever made, but they're mine and I think they still look pretty darn nice. You can see in places where the hard insole has stretched out the toe box and creased in weird ways, but to hell with it. I think the patina and creasing makes them look loved.
https://imgur.com/DQsUWod Shout out to all you nice folks out here on GYW that consistently and repeatedly answer the same conditioning questions, creasing questions and sizing questions out there from the noobs that are just getting in to this expensive lifestyle. I wouldn't be here without some of you guys.
https://imgur.com/kqFEmyH If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I was just having some fun looking back at all my mistakes and naiveties.

2023.06.10 19:45 Dammit_Amanduh “Best day EVER!!”
Hey everyone! I wanted to share some love with you all…
My 9year old daughter has been obsessed with furries for several years now. She’s young, I know, but she has told me multiple times over the last 2years that she is a furry and can’t wait to get her first fur-suit. In other words: I don’t see this as a phase or another fleeting, childhood, play-pretend moment. Besides, I knew that I was a lesbian when I was about that young, why not her with this?
We are an LGBTQ+ household and I accept her no matter what or who she is/grows up to be as long as she is happy.
That being said: we went to our local pride March today and she noticed two furries (the only two in a crowd of hundreds!). She was so excited that she was too scared to go up to them and say hi so I went for her. Y’all… this child went totally fan-girl with these two! You’d have thought she had met a seriously famous celebrity 😆
She got a picture with them and as we were walking away she stared ahead all dreamy-like and said “this is the best day EVER!” 😍
Afterward I saw that she was furiously searching the crowd to see if there might be more furries at the park where the event started/ended but we didn’t see any. It is understandable since it is June in Florida and that suit has to be unbearably hot!
I promised her I’d ask in this sub where one might find a local group (or is it a pack? den? pride? hive? Is there an official name for a community of furries?) that allows stans like my daughter to drop by and maybe meet the members?
Thank you all for being you and if Astro and Nova from Northwest Florida are by chance reading this: thank you for being so awesome and kind to your adoring little admirer!!

2023.06.10 19:37 TheHomoscedastifier I feel scammed.
In a few weeks, I'll have 20 letters after my name. I'm 30, and I haven't stopped studying since kindergarten. I got my bachelor's in a top 20 university. I got my master's and soon my PhD at similar institutions. My master's was at a very famous and very very rich lab. But it was one of the most toxic places, I couldn't wait to get out. Then I thought fuck it, let's do medicine. I spent just over a year in medical school then realized I can't lie to myself, I like science. So I started my PhD also at a very famous lab, and the story was about to repeat itself, so after 1 year, I left and started my PhD again at an excellent lab but not in a flashy field (i.e. Not really rich). I made amazing friends, my supervisor was an angel, and my PI was flawless.
But.. Now I'm near the end, and I realized that wow... All this work, and what's in my skill set? Western blotting, qPCR, basic mouse work, ELISA, and other assays a child can do and that's it. From my other experiences, some basic cell culture as well. But during my PhD, I had to do some image analysis in ImageJ, and I taught myself some serious macro scripting, and really enjoyed it.
So I applied to an internship at a pharma giant for image analysis. I started there a few months ago, while my PhD is basically done. I realized that even the other interns over there are making deep learning models, hell, some are even making their own software to do a small part of their projects. And I'm sitting here trying to work with ImageJ like a Neanderthal (I even got laughed at). So since this internship is just a year long, thought maybe I should start looking at jobs, because it's not a quick thing.
Well. I'm not even being picky, I'm just searching for "scientist" positions in the industry (mind you, in one of the largest hubs of pharma research in the world), nothing even specific. 90% of them are asking for "fancy" things like omics techniques, stem cells, organoids, antibody engineering, screen development, LC-MS, etc, and the other 10% asking for more basic things like cloning, sequencing, phage display, CRISPR, etc. Guess what? I have never learned ANY of the above. I tried to push during my PhD for some transcriptomics, for any in vitro stuff (that would need CRISPR and the like), but nope, we're too poor and the project demands more and more experiments of the same basic techniques.
Now I'm just sitting here contemplating where my terrible choices have brought me. 20 alphabet soup letters bear more value than those stupid titles. I don't know to do. I thought hey, maybe I can learn, maybe I learned how to learn in my PhD at least. Let's dig into the hype, deep learning and all. It's difficult, but it can be pulled off alone. But NO TIME. I have to commute to my internship and I basically have 1 to 2 hrs per day where I'm not sleeping, working, or commuting. Even in my commute, I'm writing my thesis. Fine, forget industry, let's do a post doc, maybe I'll improve my skill set there then head to the industry. Haha. No. All the positions I looked at require the same skills.
Honestly wth. What do I even do. My PhD wasn't even a failure, we just submitted two papers, one a very big story and one decent novel one. I feel like the system scammed me. My education took so long that the world moved on from everything I learned. My skills are obsolete, ancient, useless.

2023.06.10 19:32 TheWatcher657 Why Alexee Will Be and Should Be Found Not Guilty. Case Analysis. The Real Guilty Parties Exposed. Long Read.
Hello. I know just from reading the title you are likely seething with rage and hate for Alexee. Likely you have already down voted this post. I am appalled by the number of people having already convicted Alexee and now want her lynched.
I am equally appalled by the amount of video the public has access too. This has tainted public opinion and makes it almost impossible she will be afforded a fair and unbiased trial based on actual evidence introduced in court. All of the surveillance video from inside the hospital should never have been released. This violates Hippa Laws and a patient's Right to Privacy. "When you use security cameras in a healthcare environment, the video footage that you record qualifies as PHI. As PHI, video surveillance footage must be protected according to HIPAA regulations.Jun 10, 2021"
Alexee was experiencing an acute medical and mental health emergency and the release / leak of hospital video violates her right to doctor patient confidentiality. For those whose blood is boiling what if this was inside an abortion clinic and a teenager was violated by the release of videos in a patient treatment area? Protesters would be enraged and demand action--where is the outrage here?
Based on the facts as currently known (no discovery yet just what is in public domain and can be verified) this is how I would defend Alexee during a trial. I ask you to consider all of the following:
--Innocence until proven guilty in a court of law--the cornerstone of our legal system and society.
I strenuously argue and expect the following be inadmissible and excluded from trial:
>All video of Alexee inside the patient treatment areas of the hospital--both security cameras and police body cameras excluded .
>Police bodycam footage from inside Alexee's treatment room should be Hippa protected. She has the expectation of doctor patient confidentiality. Police knew there was no crime actively happening inside the hospital room at the moment they entered. The question of IF a crime was committed already occurred in the toilet room previous to police arrival and there was no flight risk from Alexee in a hospital room with one way in and out.
Police violated her civil rights by entering her medical treatment room while Alexee was in a hospital bed. Further police by entering her hospital room delayed urgent medical care Alexee required and placed undue stressors on her during a critical moment when per the statements of the doctor she was hemorrhaging.
>At no point was she read her Miranda Rights. Any statements made during an acute medical and mental health crisis inside a treatment room without her being advised of her Miranda Rights cannot be used against her at trial.
--During all video of her in her treatment room and patient hallway areas--as has been so far illegally released to the public violating her Hippa rights-- Alexee was under the influence of pain medicine administered by the hospital.
Pain medicine alters how Alexee feels, her body's sensations, perception of said sensations, mental acuity, mental state, memory and cognitive ability--this is the whole purpose of pain medications. These are indisputable and known scientific facts for decades which have proven pain medications cause all of these reactions which is why every single pain med has strict warnings not to operate machinery, not to drive Et cetera, Et cetera, Et cetera........ (For those attacking Alexee as mentally deficient, "slow", retarded, "mentally off" and / or view her reactions as not appropriate the hospital had her hopped up on pain medications before she even went to the bathroom. I say shame on anyone convicting her in the court of public opinion under the influence of medication(s) and during an acute medical and mental health crisis.
>Purported pictures of Alexee with her cheer leading team in the grey shirt and holding the megaphone in her uniform. These pictures are all over the internet and have not been verified as authentic. I believe there is a high likelihood these particular pictures have been photo-shopped making them altered fakes. There are multiple indicators of the two most widely distributed photos showing they are not authentic.
The person who took said pictures, origin of the pictures, original metadata and chain of custody of these photos must be discovered and questioned. Once the absolute original files have been discovered, if they even exist, they need to be independently analyzed by a digital photography expert.
I ask everyone to please put the videos you have seen out of your mind as well as it should and will likely be for the jury during the trial. I ask you to consider the following facts as we understand them at this juncture. Use only the following facts to determine if there is any reasonable doubt concerning Alexee and what happened. Even a scintilla of doubt or uncertainty means Alexee should be adjudicated not guilty by a court.
During a trial I argue the following in defense of Alexee:
>Alexee is a teenager. She only recently turned 19. She is inexperienced in life, sex and relationships. Although technically an adult by a few weeks the law is contradictory. She is still in high school due to when she was born and started kindergarten. At 19 she cannot smoke cigarettes, vape or buy or drink alcohol. Society and the law has decided 19 is not old enough to make an informed decision on smoking and alcohol. Her mother treats her as a child.
>Alexee has been treated in such a way by her mother to be ashamed of teen sex and its possible consequences. Her mother despite good intentions created a relationship of shame regarding sex and loosing her virginity. Most teens and even young adults do not share intimate sexual details with theirs parents for many reasons. Consider the added stress the mother has created for years in a misguided attempt to protect her daughter.
People in general but especially children and teenagers deny they did something wrong when accused. A child is observed breaking an item and even though said child knows the parent saw her break the item often will deny they broke it when questioned. There are decades of child psychiatry and doctors to testify regarding this. Those young children grow up to be teenagers and if the parent(s) have not properly handled these learning opportunities at young ages the teenager will have--in this case 19 years--of improper responses of how to handle life.
>Alexee's mother was beaten and abused by her father so badly Alexee was born preterm with hip and spinal problems causing pain on and off her entire life. Imagine the unhealthy relationship regarding sex, men and pregnancy her mother--despite good intentions--during Alexee's life imprinted on a child and then a teen.
>Alexee was taking hormonal birth control pills. We do not know if these were prescribed for acne, menstrual problems or birth control reasons. If prescribed for acne or menstrual problems and Alexee's mom knew she was taking them this combined with her mom's many years worth of admonishment, forbidding and shaming of teen sex and her mother feeling confident her daughter was a virgin--this would create a mental assurance for her mother she could never possible be pregnant.
Likewise, regardless if Alexee was taking hormonal bc with or without her mom's knowledge she would be assured she was preventing any possibility of pregnancy and being safe. Hormonal bc is widely regarded as virtually 100% effective and the best non-surgical option for preventing an unwanted pregnancy. The Pill is the gold standard for being safe and responsible to the point it's common knowledge providing a false sense of security.
The pill is so ubiquitous as infallible even in pornographic videos it is commonplace for the teen or woman to state "pull out I'm not on the pill"--as if she was on the pill it would be 100% guaranteed safe. Teens and even adults are indoctrinated to commonly believe the pill is infallible--even in porn.
We know sex education is lacking in all public schools, her fundamentalist church certainly wasn't providing sex ed, her mom used fear, shame and abstinence as the only approach and her father was a scumbag abuser not even in her life in a meaningful way. Media targeted to teens promotes "safe sex" rarely making a point any bc can fail. It's promoted and considered as an absolute.
No matter how you consider the above facts both Alexee and her mom were very confident there was no way she could be pregnant. Taking the bc pill to Alexee was an assurance she could not become pregnant, she could not disappoint her mom--she was being safe with no risks and in a committed long term relationship. She wasn't "one of those girls" or the school slutt.
>Alexee gained some weight. Everyone knows the Pill can cause weight gain. Its the number one reason teenagers and young women state they don't want to take the pill. There is so much pressure on being thin--especially for a teenager and a high school student going to prom ect. When she noticed she gained some weight of course it was because of the bc pill. She can't be pregnant--of course not--because she's on the pill. How could she be? A quick Google search "can the pill make me gain weight" confirms its common.
If her mom knew about her being on BC this causes no alarms for her mom because not only does she believe her daughter is a virgin she's on the pill and the pill makes many women gain weight.
>Maybe--and we don't know--Alexee was on BC because of menstrual issues. If that was the case then any period irregularities would be explained by known period issues, the pill can make periods light or non-existent in many women so nothing to be worried about if she's irregular, besides irregular periods are common in teens--especially athletes, as a medical fact. It is well known many women bleed during pregnancy at the time when they expect to be having a period so think they are regularly menstruating.
There are even entire TV shows based on the woman not knowing she is pregnant--many are adults in their 30s, experienced in life and many even had previous children!! Plenty of incidents making this fairly common and plenty of respected medical doctors will testify in court to this phenomenon.
>Alexee was treated in the emergency room in December--one month prior--for back pain. The same back pain she experienced on and off her whole life--and the same back pain that would bring her to the ER the night she delivered. She would have been around 32 to 36 weeks pregnant (pregnancy full term is 40 weeks gestation even though everyone commonly thinks 9 months) and at the end of December when seen in the ER. No one, not a single medical professional noticed she was very pregnant while in the hospital four weeks prior to delivering a baby.
>Alexee tells her mom she is in pain in January and needs to go to the ER for treatment. This is significant. If Alexee knew she was pregnant and premeditated killing and hiding the baby from her mom, boyfriend and the world it makes absolutely no sense she would tell her mother she was in pain and needed to go to the hospital. If she premeditated murder and secrecy then she would not have presented herself to her mom in pain and needing medical help. Everyone has seen TV births--although not realistic--there is almost always pain and pushing and then a baby. So Alexee who has premeditated and purposely hidden 40 weeks or pregnancy fooling everyone--her mom, peers, boyfriend, coaches, teachers, nurses and doctors decides to tell her mom she needs to go to the hospital when IF she had realized she was pregnant and consciously hidden and schemed everything!?!?! This makes no sense.
We know for a fact she knew how to do things herself on the "down low". Afterall she wasn't having sex infront of her mom--she went somewhere private to do the deed. If her premeditated plan all along was to knowingly conceal........see where this is going?
>January ER visit considerations:
--Alexee's mom had three kids--makes her very experienced at pregnancy--and has no idea Alexee is pregnant.
>Alexee is seen by and triaged by a registered nurse. She does not notice she is full term and in active labor. The duty of and sole purpose of the triage nurse to identify acute medical conditions needing immediate and emergency treatment--like say heart attacks or active labor.
>Alexee is taken to a hospital exam room and seen by the intake nurse--another registered nurse-- who's duty is and is trained to takes vitals, acquire pertinent information, makes trained medical observations and prepares the patient for possible required exams for when the doctor arrives--all of this on behalf of the doctor.
This nurse does not notice she is full term pregnant and in active labor. Remember that part above "prepares the patient for possible required exams" if the nurse has any indications the issue was in anyway related to female reproductive organs or involved the vagina the nurse would have the patient--Alexee--change into a gown for a possible pelvic exam.
She does not do this--Alexee is not in a hospital gown so another registered nurse experienced in emergency medicine--nurse number two--is completely oblivious to a full term pregnancy and active labor.
>The doctor comes into the exam room. This is a licensed and trained medical doctor specializing in emergency medicine. She speaks with and presumably examines Alexee for her back pain--to do anything less is malpractice. This medical doctor, certified and practicing emergency medicine orders pain medicine administered to Alexee.
We have a trained and experienced MEDICAL DOCTOR that does not realize Alexee is full term pregnant and in active labor. Remember those photos on the internet I discussed earlier and believe them to be faked and photo-shopped? If they were real and she was that visibly pregnant tell me two registered nurses and a licensed medical doctor given the symptoms displayed, age of the patient and the obvious dynamic between mom and daughter about keeping her virginity and you still don't this she is full term pregnant and in active labor.
The dynamic observed between Alexee and her mom the doctor had the DUTY as a standard of car to ask the mother to leave the exam room so she could privately discuss things with Alexee.
>We have all been in the hospital and ER so we all know how this goes. We know another nurse came to administer the pain meds and to administer test(s) order by the doctor. (we also know this by the police interviews of all medical personal involved)
This is nurse number three not noticing a teenage girl is full term and in active labor!!! Not just any registered nurse but the Emergency Room CHARGE NURSE--the head of the nurses in the ER at that time. (he's the male nurse in the videos wearing a skull cap).
>We know one of the tests ordered by the doctor and administered was a pregnancy test. A pregnancy test that results POSITIVE. We have a teen girl patient in extreme pain who is sure she isn't pregnant and is adamant she is not pregnant because I don't believe she thought she was. This patient is in an exam room and you the medical staff and especially the doctor DO NOT immediately return to the exam room to conduct a simple and quick pelvic exam (which doesn't even require a doctor a nurse can do and routinely do pelvic exams).
>Instead the doctor orders an ultrasound. So time passes when a quick pelvic could have been done but wasn't and in comes the ultrasound tech. She DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER WAND ATTACHMENT TO CONDUCT A PREGNANCY ULTRASOUND. On top of this she is an Ultrasound tech--certified and trained--and even after attempting an unsuccessful ultrasound doesn't realize Alexee is full term pregnant with a baby literally in the birth canal in active labor.
Keep in mind the certified and trained ultrasound tech who has done presumably dozens, if not hundreds, if not thousands of ultrasounds on pregnant women in labor--because ultrasounds are common in virtually every pregnancy--this tech doesn't realize Alexee is full term and in active labor.
We KNOW the ultrasound tech had to pull up Alexee's shirt to expose the skin on her stomach to attempt the ultrasound (because you can't do an ultrasound without skin to wand contact via some snot-like medical grade jelly).
IF the tech thought Alexee was in active labor, full term and close to delivering does anyone not think she wouldn't tell a nurse or the doctor?? "Hey you better check on this girl right now?"
>None of the medical staff even tells Alexee her pregnancy test was positive. Alexee and her mom still have no idea Alexee is pregnant.
>Alexee feels like she needs to use the bathroom--to have a bowel movement. The nurses and doctor allow her to get up, unaccompanied and waddle / run holding her bottom all the way down the hall. Alexee has NO IDEA she is pregnant--has never been told by any medical staff and didn't see the baby on the ultrasound because the tech botched the procedure not having the correct wand.
>Common knowledge to most people--lay people--as a baby enters the birth canal and crowns the woman feels an overwhelming urge to have a bowel movement. We expect even at the lowest and most minimal level of care by registered nurses and licensed doctors to know a woman in labor experiences a sensation of needing to have a BM before the baby is born. Medical facts and training teaches nurses and doctors to instruct the woman to push the baby out as if she was pushing to have a BM. We know virtually every woman has a BM at some point while pushing.
Alexee and her mom still have no idea she is pregnant at this point despite being seen by three registered nurses, an ultrasound tech and a licensed MEDICAL DOCTOR.
The medical staff KNOWS 100% Alexee is pregnant-and has known long enough to send in an ultrasound tech perform a botched ultrasound--and yet the medical staff knowing all of this allows Alexee to waddle-run down a hall holding her bottom, ALONE and be in a bathroom over 20 minutes.
We are so far past medical malpractice on so many levels to the point of gross negligence and blatant disregard for Alexee-the patient. I've seen a lot of cases of malpractice at busy hospitals but nothing has ever come close to the malpractice and willful disregard for patient care and safety as I have learned in this case.
>Alexee, doesn't know shes pregnant, feels like she needs to have an urgent BM. She's on the toilet, shes in pain, pushing feels good because that is what her body is telling her and everyone knows if you feel super constipated with a huge and heavy poop that's stuck as soon as you get it out you will feel better.
At some point Alexee's body takes over--humans are animals--and like animals a body will birth a baby as an automatic process regardless if the mom is ready or not. Regardless if the mom is even conscious or not--after all comatose patients have delivered babies spontaneously.
This is that time.
I know everyone is going to shout but she should have called for help ect ect.
Really think about this and consider:
>Alexee is a teenager, young and inexperienced with her body and womanhood. She only just barely meets the legal definition as an adult buy mere weeks and can't even buy vape or a pack of smokes and she's still in high school. An adult by technicality only she is in high school, acts very immature and has not had any life experiences as an adult.
>Alexee has been to the ER twice in 30 days time and is in the ER at this very moment sitting on a toilet with an incredible urge to poop, she's seen by half a dozen trained medical professionals even just moments ago and she knows they gave her a pregnancy test "just in case" and no one has told her she's pregnant, she's scared to death but in her mind she's on the birth control pill and not a single person at the hospital during two visits has told her she's pregnant. She has NO idea a baby is about to come out. It's not possible to her and based on all we know she has confirmation in her mind time and time and time again she is NOT PREGNANT. In fact, she is on her period she thinks, she sees blood--yes confirmation of period, cramps, pain, nausea--all valid, legitimate and known period indicators. She can't be pregnant as we have established and since she is at the hospital they would have told her if she was. She has back problems, thinks she is on or starting her period and is constipated worse than she has ever been--of course combined these are the cramps and pain from the pitts of hell.
>Experts will testify at some point in that toilet room she disassociates with her body. Now she is in fear, overwhelming pain, anxiety, young with limited life experience. She has been drugged by the doctors with pain medicine which affects her sensations and cognitive abilities and decision making. She wants to yell for help but she can't. There is no voice, no words and no actual realization as to what is happening to her.
>This is NOT unheard of. Fear is a power controller. Every person responds differently. Many people do nothing and totally freeze and are oblivious to external stimuli. History is full of people--aged and experienced adults who are trained professionals in life and death situations who freeze and cannot function or function in a totally illogical way.
--The airline pilot who despite thousands of hours of flight experience suddenly forgets how to fly or simply does nothing. Or does something so incredibly stupid and so contradictory to every bit of training and flying instinct makes the wrong response causing the plane to crash. (Atlas Air B767 / Continental Express Q400 / UPS A300)
--Trained soldiers in battle firing on their own fellow soldiers wearing the same uniform right in front of them but in that moment they kill their friends.
--A veteran police officer responding to a school shooting in Florida so overcome with fear he cannot enter the building to do the job he has trained, practiced and done for 25 plus years of his career resulting in dozens of children dying or injured.
--A respected gray-haired "old salt" ship captain who has crossed the Atlantic hundreds of times in his 50 year career--actually the admiral of the fleet-- who becomes impotent when his ship hits an iceberg and after giving the orders to evacuate disappears from leadership. (Titanic)
The recent Idaho murders the downstairs roommate, who has experienced actual adult experiences living on her own in college, comes FACE-TO-FACE with the killer while her four friends and roommates are bleeding out locks herself into her room, goes to bed and does NOTHING for hours until the net day. This is despite her admitting she heard a pained / muffled scream, moaning, an unknown voice and came face-to-face with the killer POTENTIALLY while the victims could have been saved with immediate medical care. She is defended by society as bearing no burden or negligence because she was young, scared and had been partying so was under the influence of substances.
Wait a minute........so was Alexee. Ironically some of the same people in this very forum who defended the Idaho roommate for being completely without burden by ignoring and going back to bed want to lynch Alexee or lock her up for her entire life.
Can we under all of these circumstances expect a teenage girl who has every legitimate reason to be sure she is NOT pregnant and not in labor expect her to be rational in this moment?
If Alexee herself didn't know she was pregnant, had no reason to expect she was pregnant, was on birth control, her mom who has had three pregnancies doesn't notice, her peers don't notice, her teachers don't notice, her coaches, her church, her boyfriend AND....
TWO VISITS TO THE ER / HOSPITAL 30 DAYS APART
the visit where the birth occurred:
THREE REGISTERED NURSES
ULTRASOUND TECH
EMERGENCY ROOM DOCTOR / LICENSED MD
If ALL of the people in Alexee's life and ESPECIALLY TRAINED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS did not notice or realize she was not only pregnant but in active labor HOW CAN WE EXPECT ALEXEE--a teenager--TO REALIZE THIS WHEN SHE TOOK HERSELF TO A HOSPITAL WANTING HELP?
The hospital and its staff disgust me. They acted with total disregard to Alexee and human life. Not a single nurse or doctor even bothered to try and resuscitate the baby when it was found. Most likely the baby was beyond resuscitation but for medical professionals in a hospital to not even attempt to save the baby after totally botching the standard of care for Alexee up to this point shows how criminally negligent everyone who treated Alexee that night is culpable for the death of a child.
The state has WAY overcharged Alexee. At most she should be facing abuse of a corpse. She needs mental help not jail. She is not likely to ever re-offend.
The ER doctor should be charged with manslaughter and negligence resulting in a death as her level of care was grossly negligent.
My heart goes out to the little boy who is not live--stillborn or otherwise. All life is precious.
So is Alexee and her life. This is beyond horrible for all involved. Every single person in Alexee's life failed her time and time again.
Do not as a jury pr society fail her again and sentence her to life in prison. There is so much reasonable double of premeditation and medical negligence / indifference in this case it would be criminal for a jury to convict her of Premeditated Murder in the 1sr degree.
I pray for everyone involved on so many levels. This case has no winners--only losers . Every single person in contact at any point with Alexee--but especially on the night in question-- and Alexee herself has a heavy cross to bear for the rest of their lives.
The nurses and ultrasound tech should be retrained, put on probation to be monitored making sure they have the skills and judgements needed to care for patients and the medical doctor should lose her license.
Alexee especially as well as her mother and boyfriend need education and counseling.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Protecting your brand from negative content can be a daunting task, but it is essential to maintain the positive image you have built. Reputation Guards provides to help you monitor what people are saying about your company or brand online and safeguard against potential threats. We offer two options for the complete and permanent removal of any unwanted content: de-indexing from Google or removing the content itself. Our team will assess the situation and advise on the best strategy for full protection against future attacks so that your reputation remains intact.
Reputation Guards On Understanding the sources of negative Content
Negative content can come from a variety of sources, such as disgruntled customers, rivals and competitors, or even malicious actors. It is important to understand the source of the negative content to better address it.
Customers may leave negative reviews due to a bad experience with your product or service, or because they’re disappointed with how you handled their complaint. Competitors may attempt to harm your reputation by spreading false information about your company or sabotaging your efforts. And malicious actors could be attempting to defame your business with damaging posts and slanderous remarks.
Identifying the source of the negative content can be challenging, especially if the content has been posted anonymously. However, with the help of an experienced reputation guard team like
Reputation Guards, it is possible to track down the originator of unwanted content and take appropriate measures for damage control. Our team utilizes advanced online tools and resources to uncover the identity behind negative posts and assess any associated risks. We also specialize in finding ways to mitigate any potential damage caused by the negativity on a brand's overall reputation.
Monitor your online presence regularly
Monitoring your online presence regularly is key to protecting your brand from negative content. It is important to stay on top of what people are saying about you and your business and make sure that any potential threats are quickly identified.
Reputation-guards offers proactive services that enable you to monitor conversations, reviews, and other types of content associated with your brand across a variety of platforms. This allows our team to detect any harmful content before it has a chance to spread or cause damage.
We use sophisticated tools and algorithms to analyze large amounts of data in real time so that we can identify any potentially dangerous posts quickly. We also utilize advanced search capabilities on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, as well as traditional search engines like Google and Bing. This allows us to find even the most obscure content about your company or brand for effective proactive monitoring.
If any potentially damaging posts are flagged by our system, we take immediate action by contacting the original poster and asking them to remove the content or take corrective measures if necessary. We also document all interactions in case further legal action needs to be taken at a later date. This proactive strategy helps ensure that negative content is removed before it gains traction and causes irreparable damage to your reputation.
Develop a strategy to respond quickly and effectively to negative content
Developing a strategy to respond quickly and effectively to negative content is essential for preserving your online reputation. To do this, you must first identify the source of the negative content and assess any associated risks. Once the source has been identified, it is important to develop a plan of action that helps you respond quickly and decisively.
One way to do this is by crafting a well-thought-out response that appropriately addresses the issue. You should take into consideration the tone of voice used in your response, as well as whether or not you are addressing the original poster directly or publicly. When responding publicly it is important to be succinct and professional, making sure that all relevant facts are included without appearing overly defensive or argumentative. It is also important to remain respectful and show empathy towards those affected by the negative content.
Another key part of responding quickly and effectively to negative content involves being proactive in preventing it from happening again in the future. This can be accomplished by developing a set of guidelines for customer interactions, implementing clear policies for dealing with complaints, and setting up systems for monitoring reviews and comments on social media platforms. Additionally, having safeguards in place such as using automated moderation tools can help detect any potentially damaging posts before they have time to spread online.
Finally, it is important to remember that maintaining an online reputation requires ongoing effort. By staying on top of what people are saying about your business, monitoring any potential threats, proactively addressing issues when they arise, and setting up preventive measures against future attacks – you can ensure that your brand remains protected from unwanted negativity and stands strong against any potential threats.

Additionally, our proactive monitoring solutions enable us to detect any harmful content before it has a chance to go viral. We use sophisticated tools and algorithms to analyze large amounts of data in real-time to identify potentially damaging posts quickly. We can help you craft a well-thought-out response that appropriately addresses the issue while remaining professional at all times – regardless if you are responding publicly or directly with the original poster. We also document all interactions in case further legal action needs to be taken at a later date.
Finally, we can also recommend preventive measures that can be put into place for long-term protection against future attacks – such as developing guidelines for customer interactions, implementing clear policies for dealing with complaints, setting up systems for monitoring reviews and comments on social media platforms, and using automated moderation tools. With Reputation Guards on your side, you can rest assured knowing that your online presence is in safe hands!
Counteract the negativity associated with your brand name
Creating positive content is essential for countering any negative content associated with your brand name. It can help to distract from the negativity and give customers a more balanced picture of your business or product. Positive content should be crafted in such a way that it provides valuable information while also highlighting what makes your company or product unique.
One way to create positive content is to focus on customer stories and testimonials. Highlighting real-life stories about how customers have had positive experiences with your product or service can convince other potential customers that you are worth the investment. Additionally, customer reviews left on third-party websites like Google My Business, Yelp, and Trip Advisor can also help counteract negativity as they provide an unbiased opinion from those who have used your products or services.
Furthermore, engaging in charitable initiatives that showcase the good work you do in the community can also help create a more favourable image of your brand. Whether it’s providing support for local causes or donating a portion of profits to charity, these types of activities demonstrate a commitment to giving back and will make customers more likely to invest in your business.
Another great way to create positive content is through influencer marketing collaborations. By partnering with influential people within your industry or niche, you can gain access to their audiences and spread the word about what makes your company special – all while generating buzz around the product or service you offer.
Finally, staying active on social media can help cultivate a more positive reputation for your brand as well as boost its visibility online. Posting regular updates that show off new products and services, highlight customer stories, share news about promotions and discounts, interact with followers, and respond quickly to any complaints or inquiries ensures that customers stay engaged with your business even when there isn't any negative press surrounding it.
Engage customers and build relationships with them
Social media platforms are powerful tools for businesses to engage with customers and build relationships with them. Utilizing platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube can help create a more direct connection between your business and potential customers. Customers will be able to connect with your brand in real-time and get an immediate response to their inquiries or requests.
Posting regular updates that share information about new products or services, highlighting customer stories, or providing tips on how to use your product will help establish trust and loyalty among consumers. Additionally, engaging in conversations with followers by responding promptly to comments and messages will demonstrate that you value their input and feedback.
Furthermore, social media platforms are great for providing exclusive discounts and promotions which can increase engagement from potential customers. Creating contests or giveaways can also help generate more interest in your brand while gaining valuable insights into which products people prefer or what issues they may be having with any of your offerings.
Moreover, social media networks are ideal for connecting with influencers who can help spread the word about your brand while reaching out to a wider audience. Collaborations with respected figures in the industry or niche can generate more awareness among potential customers – thus leading to increased sales and revenue.
Finally, taking advantage of free analytics tools offered by social media networks can provide valuable insights into customer behaviour which can then be used to better tailor content to specific audiences. For example, understanding which posts perform best gives you an idea of what topics resonate more with followers, allowing you to create more effective content that resonates better with them.
By employing smart strategies on social media platforms, businesses have the opportunity to engage customers on a deeper level while building relationships rooted in trust and loyalty – leading to increased conversions and ultimately greater success!
Considering an online reputation management company
Considering an online reputation management company for more comprehensive protection is an excellent way to protect one's brand or company from potential negative publicity. A reputable firm can provide a range of services that help to safeguard a business's online presence, including monitoring and analyzing both traditional and digital media sources for any mentions of the business, its products, its services, and its staff.
Such firms also conduct proactive measures to ensure any potentially damaging information is quickly removed or corrected before it can spread further. To maintain a positive online image, they employ a variety of tactics such as content curation, optimized search engine results management (SERM), social media campaigns, pay-per-click advertising, and even website design or re-design services.
One benefit of using an online reputation management service is that the team can review all aspects of the client’s digital footprint to identify high-risk areas where competitors may be trying to damage their reputation. They can then develop strategies aimed at boosting positive press coverage while simultaneously diminishing any negative press.
Additionally, these companies monitor various social media platforms so they can quickly identify and respond to any unfavourable comments or reviews to mitigate any potential damage they could cause. This helps ensure that customers remain engaged with the business while providing them with prompt responses if they have any questions or issues with the product or service they are receiving.
Moreover, many online reputation management firms now offer analytics tools which allow businesses to track their progress over time and make informed decisions about how best to shape their future marketing efforts to maximize returns on investment (ROI). Knowing exactly how successful each campaign has been in terms of reach and visibility makes it easier for businesses to plan for future promotions and initiatives.

2023.06.10 19:03 JamariusQuangle My Ideas for Fallout 5
FALLOUT 5
Fallout 5 will take place in the Dixie Wasteland, in the ruins of Charleston, South Carolina in 2322. It will be the first fallout to take place in the South. The only nuke to hit the region was a defective US nuke that detonated as soon as it was launched.
Character Building:
You start with 35 special points, making it so you have a more specialized build or a jack of all trades. The old skill system makes a return, with you choosing a perk every 3 level ups. Skill checks are frequent, and can vary from Special stats to perks. You get to choose a special perk when you start the story, like Small Frame or Kamikaze. Karma has three tiers: Evil, Neutral, and Good.
Mutations and Radiation: Mutations will occur like in 76, but you can become a super mutant if you dip yourself in a vat of FEV. Your strength and endurance will increase dramatically, but many factions and cities won’t let you in without a huge hassle. Radiation makes you mutate more, but if your mutation level is too high you will turn into a mindless Behemoth. Too much radiation will turn you into a ghoul, which makes you immune to radiation and raises your endurance. If you get too many rads while ghoulified, you become feral.
Weapons & V.A.T.S:
Makeshift weapons are far more prevalent in this game, but they are more diverse and realistic than those in Fallout 4. Normal weapons are more powerful and rarer, selling for more at stores. More real guns will be added alongside the retro-futuristic fallout guns, including the 9 round and 1 shotgun shell LeMat revolver. Weapon customization exists alongside a wider variety than of weapons. Dual wielding makes its first entry to the series, allowing for dual wielding of small melee weapons, pistols, and smgs.
Higher Agility levels makes dual wielding more accurate. V.A.T.S will return to freezing the game instead of the slowed down time in Fallout 4
Settlements:
There will be 3 buildable settlement locations that you discover on your own, and 5 customizable player home locations.
World: The Dixie Wasteland is a mix of civilized and Wild. The Western section of the map is the most dangerous, full of raiders and animals, despite that the town of Magnolia is in the west. The Northeast is the city of Charleston, the city of Civitas Ferro is set up within eastern Charleston. The South of the map is controlled by the Brotherhood of Steel as well. The middle of the map is a bunch of small towns mixed with the wildness of the west. The eastern side of the map is swamps, and the west is forested hills. A large lifeless crater exists in the in the middle of the map, simply known as the Hole.
Enemies: Some animals return, such as bloodbugs, deathclaws, ferals, bloatflies, and Yao Guais, Mirelurks, and Gatorclaws. New animals include Raddlesnakes, Giraffe Dogs (coyotes with long necks), Snappers (huge turtles), and Prowlers (mutated bobcats). Raiders are in named groups again, with three main bands terrorizing Dixie. The tribe known as the Confederates who enslave and sell rather than pillage, the Beastmasters who tame mutated animals and attack with them, and the Vaulties who were former vault dwellers. Generic raiders can also be found. Super Mutant bands have moved south from the Capital Wasteland, and continue their sackings in Dixie. Enemy robots are occasionally found, especially from the RobCo factory in the city. The last kind of enemy is the main factions if you piss them off, as they send death squads out to gank you if you have a bad reputation.
Dixie history: The Carolinians united the eastern coast and Charleston together as a large scale civilization in 2190, but by the year 2291, the Brotherhood of Steel invaded. They pillaged, plundered, and took control of the east coast and the capital of the Carolinians. Their despotic rule has causes several factions in the wasteland grow rebellious, and tensions are reaching a high in 2322.
Themes: The game has a southern theme, with the radios playing country and bluegrass music. Characters have southern accents, as do the robots.
Radio Stations:
Magnolia Radio - Swing and Jazz hosted by a charismatic ghoul named Darren Dixie. Darren will comment on the events that occur throughout the wasteland.
Hoedown Capital - A country and bluegrass station hosted by Mr. Hillbilly, a DJ Mr.
Handy. He still believes the year is 2077, and only tells news relating to events that happened leading up to the Great War.
Brotherhood Military Channel - Updates troops about tech locations and orders patrols around.
There are plenty of side quests and random events, including side quests for each faction.
Factions:
There are 5 factions in Fallout 5, and you have to side with one of them to complete the story. The Tribal ending is the wild card ending. The reputation system makes a return, with the New Vegas pictures.
Brotherhood of Steel: The Brotherhood of Steel has turned into nothing short of a jingoistic military dictatorship, developed by Elder William Garrick. The Brotherhood abandoned Maxson in the commonwealth, as Garrick lead a silent coup in the Capital wasteland. The Brotherhood has grown colossally in size, and now spans the East Coast unchecked in power. Not only do they seize military technology now, they also seize stuff like pre-war small arms, Auto-docs, pip-boys, robots, terminals etc. They’ve ruled over Atlanta for the past 2 years with an iron fist, forcing settlers into giving up their crops and crippling the wasteland and infrastructure of the Dixie Wasteland. They control a large city inside Atlanta called Civitas Ferro, with their headquarters in the center. Despite your hatred for them initially, you can join them and defeat all the rebels.
Carolinian Revolutionary Army- The Carolinians are the remnants of the former largest nation in the Dixie Wasteland called the Free Federation of Charleston. It was a democratic civilization based on the old state of South Carolina, with elections and rights for any human or quasi-human. Although it was weak and corrupt, it was better than the alternatives. When the Brotherhood rolled in, the Carolinians resisted their raids, so the Brotherhood overthrew them in a scorched Earth campaign. The Carolinians are the remnants of their military, dedicated to rebelling against the Brotherhood’s tyranny, and have the endgame goal of bringing Democracy back to Dixie. They grow steadily by the day, but they suffer from bureaucratic issues and corruption. You can join the Carolinians as an agent, and you help them lead a rebellion against the Brotherhood.
Greylock’s Hand: Greylock’s Hand are a band of violent raiders and mercenaries, who likewise want the Brotherhood of Steel gone, but instead desire an anarchic survival of the fittest wasteland. They are lead by a profane, wild ghoul named Greylock. They are basically terrorists, but their raids and ambushes against the Brotherhood are effective. They reside in a secret underground missile launch site, completed two days before the war. Even the Brotherhood knows nothing about it aside from rumors. The missiles, however, are not finished. You can join Greylocks Hand after getting kidnapped by them, and after you help them build part of the missiles.
Magnolia: The last joinable faction is Magnolia, a large settlement in and around the former plantation home. The city is ruled by a group of Mister Handys who escaped from a crashed truck driving to Charleston the day of the Great War. They saw the magnolia plantation and went their to clean, doing so and repairing it for 150 years, eventually realizing what was happening in the world around them.Their newfound “sentience” allowed them to create a settlement, inviting wastelanders and tribals to live and trade under their protection. Their elected leader is a specialized Mr Handy that has economic programming. The robots have defended themselves from several Brotherhood attacks, and after some convincing they allow you to become an honorary robot and join their faction.
Tribal: Instead of choosing any of the four main factions, you can instead unite the smaller settlements, tribes, and factions into New Dixie. You are assisted by an intelligent Supermutant from the Capital Wasteland named Spider, acting as your loyal second in command.
Minor factions:
The Network: A secret underground trading organization that sells and trades equipment that would normally be confiscated by the BoS. You can rat them out to the BoS, or you can join them.
Wasteland Marshalls: A paramilitary organization that patrols highways and hunts raiders, based on the US Marshals of the past. You can join them or convince them to join the brotherhood.
Catawbas: The descendants of the old native tribe from South Carolina, they specialize in the creation of makeshift weaponry to sell to wastelanders. You can convince them to join the rebellion, or you can convince them to join the Brotherhood.
Abolitionists: A militia of borderline terroristic anti-slavers, based on the conquests of the radical abolitionist John Brown. You can join them or eliminate them.
Plot:
South Carolina: 2322. War, war never changes.
The main character is a tribal living southeast of Charleston. The tribe has to pay a toll to local raiders, and it’s left their tribe starving. In the first part of the game, the Tribal, their sibling and their friend are searching for food for their tribe, when they stumble across an old sunken West-Tek storage depot. In it is a prototype suit of power armor called the AX-01, which is a large tank-suit with back missiles and two hand laser rifles, built for ease of use. You learn how to pilot it from a terminal, and you take it back to the tribe; the raiders and their leader are there demanding their payment. You kill the raiders with the power armor, and the tribe is free from their subjugation. Weeks later, 4 Brotherhood of Steel paladins arrive at the village. After the tribals refuse to give up their power armor, the BoS execute everyone in the village and burn it to the ground (including your sibling), seizing the suit and flying away on a vertibird. Only the Tribal remains.
Act 1: The Tribal picks up a broken pip-boy as soon as they leave the town, and they hunt down the paladins North to Charleston, you kill all 4 of them while adventuring across the map. By the end of the first act, the Brotherhood declares you an enemy of the Brotherhood.
Act 2: Due to the deaths of several Paladins and the constant rebellion from the region, a Brotherhood blimp appears. The brotherhood frequency states that if the Tribal visits the ship, they will be absolved of their crimes. The Tribal is also invited to secret meeting of between Carolinians and robots from Magnolia. You also get kidnapped by the Greylocks 2 days after this meeting. From there you can choose between the rebels or the Brotherhood, and do their specific quest lines. For the Greylocks, you have to find parts to build their rockets. Whereas for the other groups you have to find a way into their base.
Act 3: All questlines end in the ultimate battle and raid on the Greylock base. If you side with the Greylocks you repel the attackers. The end of the story is where you fire the missile array at the Brotherhood’s home base and their airship, chasing them out of Dixie. If you side with the Brotherhood you secure the missile array and fire the rockets at the fleeing rebels, crushing their numbers.
Each ending depends on your karma and what side you chose, potentially turning a “good” faction evil or an “evil” faction good.
Your actions have consequences throughout the story, and no character is essential except for potential companions.

2023.06.10 18:24 Metro-Sperg-Services Legal Update on Jerm's latest sentencing & more
VOP
Violation of Probation Sentence: 365 Days + Credit for 302 days time served (+ Fine)
Reason: Florida state law guarantees time served multipliers for good behavior, which concerns the satisfactory completion of assigned tasks, counseling, drug or educational programmes etc.
Meaning, an inmate who serves 30 days with good behavior, depending on the judge's assessment, may for example be eligible for 30 x 1.5 days of actual time served.
Residual Charges
9 felony charges (mostly 3rd degree + no action taken on 4)
Almost all carrying a minimum sentence of 2 years (concurrent)
Trial set for 07/24/2023
Pre-Trial Conference set for 7/12/2023
After the conference in July we will learn if a plea agreement was reached for these cases.
Personally, I'm hoping for a televised Jerm trial extravaganza, but they'll definitely take whatever is offered. He'll probably get 1 - 2 years with time served for the duration after his VOP sentence.
Jerm will remain incarcerated until ~ August 12th, by which time a plea deal must've already been reached or we'll get a full on trial.
If he takes the deal, there is obviously no chance for a release, as he'll immediately start serving the next sentence.
Bond for these fraud charges was originally stayed due to the pending VOP proceedings.
To get out, even if all bonds are reinstated , he must first serve the remaining 63 days in corrections before it can be posted and he must maintain his not guilty plea in order to go to trial.
In summary, around mid - late July we'll know if Jerm accepted a plea deal for the fraud charges which means that he stays in jail for another year or two. By August we'll know if the judge reinstates all of Jerm's bonds and if he actually goes to trial so he can post bond and get out until the trial is concluded.

2023.06.10 17:18 FullPerspective4255 A NEWBIE'S HIGHLY THOUGHT-UPON PLAN FOR STARTING PHILOSOPHY
How's it going guys, I hope you're all having a great time!
Greetings, to all the
great minds here!
I would really appreciate your help with my entrance to the infinite world of philosophy.
First, I will give you the background. And second, I will ask you my questions at the end of the post.
FIRST PART: Background My Goal: I'm really eager to learn about what some of the greatest minds of the past and today have thought about the meaning of life, to move further in my journey of self-realization with meaning and purpose. In other words, I want to know what others have thought about the meaning of life so that I can develop and improve my philosophy on it. Basically, I'm a man searching for meaning.
Why? I have deeply motivational reasons, which makes me a passionate student (who self-studies).
With some research and the help of ChatGPT, I figured that the main branch of philosophy that deals with meaning is Existentialism. Then I kept researching the syllabi of various universities, such as Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, METU, etc., to learn how a structured philosophy education is provided. I read entries on Reddit and Quora about people's ideas and experiences on how to start learning philosophy.
With all the information I gathered, I created a learning plan:
My Learning Plan The first page of my plan, titled "Plan", is my guide on how I'm going to go about learning mainly
Existentialism. Numbers are indicating the priority (I am going to go step by step, starting from the number 1: "Read Introductory books"). However, I do not have to read or do every item precisely. For example, I don't have to read every introductory book on the first step, to go further to step two. Yet I'll try to digest as much material as possible.
The second page of the plan, titled "HELPFUL GUIDES", is my gatherings on how to learn
Philosophy in general (not just Existentialism). The reason I added this part to my study plan, is because I thought learning about Philosophy in general would also help my main study on Existentialism. I'm planning to mostly use the second part of the Helpful Guides, named "
2. My favorite learning plans" (Especially Hubert Tremblay's plan), while learning general Philosophy.
SECOND PART: Questions - Do you think my goal (I stated above, titled "My Goal") is well-aligned with the area I'm going to study, which is mainly existentialism and then general philosophy? Or are there better alternatives (other than religion, because I'm planning to read about it in the future)?
- Do you have any recommendations, ideas, or resources that can benefit my journey? Such as any book or website that's helped you a lot?
- Can you criticize my study plan? Do not hesitate to say that my plan is trash (because I know it is, that's the best I can do as an absolute beginner), as long as you provide better ideas from your past experiences and gained knowledge.
All I need is
constructive criticism, beneficial
ideas, and
recommendations from the people who started walking this path before me.
Your help will be
highly appreciated.
Thanks for your help in advance. I wish that you become 10x more smart and charismatic for every bit of help you provide me, haha :)

2023.06.10 17:02 Fickle-Park-850 How to Educate Partner
My BPSO (45M), married 12 years, hates conflict, which might seem paradoxical when combined with bipolar... so when he's not triggered in childish anger because he just wants happy cognitive dissonance all the time, (unless he is upset about something and then we all have to be upset with him) he just agrees as a defense. It's made it impossible to know what he truly agrees with. It shuts down our discussions, stops progress, and is making me feel panicked and trapped like how I grew up feeling unheard... and the patient and understanding partner I've been is chipping away rapidly now, because I recently came to understand how serious this is - and he is far from ready to grasp it himself.
He senses a change in me, and cut back on coffee and unsubbed from his doom news channels on YouTube, (I didnt mandate this at all, I said its bad for bipolar and as a show of loyalty I guess,, he just did it) which is shocking, and, I AM proud of him, but I think he is trying to appease something he fears inside me... I don't think he truly believes what I'm learning about bipolar. He says he's ready to do what it takes but he still argues and I see in his eyes he hates this, instead of believing its truly necessary. He won't go get a diagnosis, (I actually thought he had one long ago, but I guess he was on his way to it and didn't pursue therapy that far in his 20's.)
I thought, he's neurodivergent, he's traumatized emotionally, he had bad mentors at a critical age.. but in the latter half of our marriage I saw patterns, and began to worry this was mainly built into his brain chemistry.
He has gotten worse since 2021 - new levels and frequency of rage. I wasn't there to help him manage his mood a couple months ago - he depends on me a lot for that - and he had his first public outburst.. blacked out, shoued in a friend's face.. stayed in a delusion for ten hours... it was likely brought on by beer, but I know it was an episode, not the alcohol talking and walking around as him. He didn't have nearly enough to make him delusional from alcohol alone. He woke up in that state the next day too. Then like a switch, he came back, was terrified, got texts telling him what he did and was so embarrassed and ashamed. For the first time I felt seen. He's had cognitive dissonance about how he acts with his family. Plausible deniability because his memory is not clear during episodes.
He keeps saying, "this has never happened" and I keep saying, "oh so, the hundreds of times you do this to us, don't count?" He'll say, "but I would never do this in public" and I'm just... really?? There's a list of reactions I have that I need to repress because he's not at a level to grasp things or cope.
He's just so deep in denial. I'm moved by some recent gestures, I am, but since his last episode, I've educated myself about BP, that it's likely what we're dealing with - we need testing and confirmation. If he has this its progressive - as I have certainly observed. He was very different 12 years ago. I think he "rapid cycles" a lot now. Welcome clarification on that.
He isn't by default the type of person who would commit to a permanent life overhaul for the sake of his mental health. Loves his dopamine boosting routines. He can get motivated eventually.
The status quo is, he agrees to get professional help, since before I understood the seriousness of bipolar, yet he's still putting off searching for a good therapist/doc. I'm done trying to call them, have them tell me he needs to contact them himself, and then him never taking the step. He needs to take charge of this, for his own self esteem too.
I doubt my own sanity because, he's soft arguing, basically saying "okay, I promise, yes, this is a big deal, and I do take it seriously," but he means just.. flat "no." Because he never does it, and changes his mind on things he agrees with, and questions everything.
Now he says my sources seem sketchy... he doesn't think if he has bipolar any of this is an emergency, or dangerous...
I've been scared of his intense moods, shouting, ranting and obsessing. The kids are too. He cries about this, then turns around and acts like it's not there.
So sorry this was ranty. I tried to give history for relevance, but in a nutshell:
What official sources and info can I offer to educate him into grasping the seriousess of things? He can be scared to health, I know him. He's just got his head deep in the sand and is clinging to ignorance like a safety blanket.
Does anyone have good statistical data on where he's headed untreated? He doesn't believe this is progressive. He thinks he can mind over matter, just willpower away all this. Like it's a character thing or a personality disorder rather than a mental illness that requires all the good habits plus medical intervention. He says, "well I'll just get pills then." I try to explain it's NOT that simple but he is set on this being easy and thinks I'm caught up in some conspiracy, I guess. Not paranoia, just me being naiive, even though that's not in my reputation.

2023.06.10 16:33 CrustyDumpling1 Suspected Temp file issue
For a while now I've ignored this problem but now I've had it. Not too long ago I decided to move my temp files from my C drive (that was literally always full) to my D drive (which was empty af)
I followed this yt video and everything seemed fine for a while. One random day I tried downloading MS Office and it simply would not let me. I searched the error code online and it said it was a temp file issue. I didn't much care at the time as I could just use google docs or whatever but now it really gets to me. I can't download important software (e.g. epic games launcher and MS teams) and day by day more and more apps can't update themselves due to this. I have also tried all the indian tech yt fixes and none work because everything is greyed out (despite being an administrator???)
Another issue is with being unable to download ANYTHING to program files x86...
TLDR; My temp files/program files x86 are fucked any help appreciated :)

2023.06.10 16:22 skooterpoop Dihada, Binder of Wills Potential Updates for Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth
Introduction
As promised,
here is a spreadsheet of all of my previous posts, as well as what cards I suggested in each. If this is your first time reading one of these posts, know that I attempt to rate them somewhere from B- to S+, leaving out any card that I didn’t feel was strong enough to earn at least that much. Also, while there are many potential ways to build Dihada, I try to rate them specifically on my own themes as explained in the original post. That being said, please leave suggestions if I’ve left anything out!
Lastly, sorry for this being such a lengthy post. In my defense, “legendary” was a theme in this set, so I think it was to be expected. Without further ado, here are the potential updates we’re getting, first from the main set, and followed by the commander deck additions.
Main Set
[[The Battle of Bywater]]: Was this made for us??? For only three mana we get a board wipe for powerful enemies? And then we’re rewarded for surviving it with our indestructible creatures? Definitely a board wipe we can include. S+ Rating.
[[Boromir, Warden of the Tower]]: One does not simply make a Dihada list without Boromir. Having Vigilance is always useful for a deck with a planeswalker commander, and there are definitely times where your opponents might have to worry about his first ability, but I’m looking more at his second ability. For a deck relying on board wipes to gain advantage, Boromir can help swing that advantage way harder. In fact, that’s why I love Odric, Lunarch Marshal, Agrus Kos, Eternal Soldier, and Avacyn’s Memorial (or Avacyn herself). Push that advantage. S Rating.
[[Dawn of a New Age]]: This card seems really cool and can net a ton of value for fairly little resources/risk. Sadly not legendary. A+ Rating.
[[Flowering of the White Tree]]: I’m not sure how this card exists, since it’s a straight buff to pretty much every anthem. I guess it being legendary is supposed to be a downside but let’s be real this is absurd value in a commander deck and is probably going to be a staple in most white commander decks, but especially all Dihada decks since we can grab this from -3. S Rating.
[[Frodo, Sauron’s Bane]]: I largely view 1 drops as unnecessary in Dihada decks, but this is clearly an exception. Three mana for a 2/3 lifelink isn’t great, but considering that the upgrade is instant speed makes it a bit better. Let’s be honest, though, this card is only being considered for the kill condition he has. This card is definitely cool in a deck that has enough ring temptation, but that’s likely not my deck and I don’t see it happening. B- Rating.
[[Gandalf the White]]: I have to admit, even as someone who isn’t a fan of LotR, I think I would find it difficult not wanting to play him if I were to obtain him. But is he good? I think so. I don’t think he really benefits from being in my deck too much, and is similar to how I felt about Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines. However, the Flash aspect is very interesting, and can change how a game plays. By using Dihada’s +2 on him, you are able to avoid enemy board wipes, since Gandalf will survive them and then you can flash out legendaries before your turn. I don’t know if that’s truly worth the slot, but he at least earns strong consideration for a sideboard, if you have one. B rating.
[[Rosie Cotton of South Lane]]: My deck doesn’t focus heavily on token creatures, but it does contain a decent amount of treasure tokens, specifically with our commander. Back in the
Phyrexia: All Will Be One post I mentioned the play I’d most prefer with Mondrak being to +2 to defender her followed by a turn five Mondrak into a -3 from Dihada. I never specified what creature I’d want to defend Dihada for this play because I didn’t think it mattered much. Suddenly Rosie Cotton enters the picture and we have a potential 12/12 indestructible Mondrak. But even without Mondrak, she works very well with our commander. S- Rating.
[[Samwise the Stouthearted]]: Not a reanimation card, but not too far off. Yes, putting a card into your hand as opposed to the battlefield is much worse and not really our focus, but I like it because it’s legendary and because it says “permanent card,” meaning it can return most of the things we play. There’s even a world in which we let Dihada die and use Samwise to return her to our hand as to avoid commander tax. Getting him from a -3 means the table will know about him and be weary about losing value to you, which is solid deterring. B+ Rating.
[[Tale of Tinuviel]]: This does a lot of things the deck likes, but I don’t think the card is good enough to take the slot of a better reanimation card, such as Invasion of Tolvada. Besides, the reanimation cards we really want are either legendary or can be cast from the graveyard like Unburial Rites so we can dump it with Dihada without worry. B- Rating.
[[War of the Last Alliance]]: WotC seem to have realized that they’ve printed a lot of legendary legendary-support, and while this is great for us, perhaps it’s also good to print a lot of non-legendary legendary-support, and this is a prime example. TWO tutors? I’d run it even without that last chapter, but I can’t complain. The fact that you can search up both Olivia and Junji and get your reanimation loop going just by playing this card is wonderful. Or you can search for Magda so you can instead search for an artifact like Avacyn’s Memorial. There’s even a world in which you search up Aurelia, the Warleader to play on the turn of that last chapter and kill two people with overwhelming damage. Despite not being legendary, this gets an easy S- rating from me.
[[Isildur’s Fateful Strike]]: Legendary instants and sorceries can be difficult to cast, but probably not for a legendary-themed deck like Dihada. I like to play a few destruction effects but I usually like to have options as opposed to creatures only. That being said, you can grab this from a -3, so it’s hard to complain. The hand limiting effect isn’t bad if it’s done pretty early I suppose, or to counter a large hand (remember that it’s an instant). My biggest problem with this card is actually the flavor. It looks like you’re limiting their “hand” to “four” because you’re cutting off the ring finger, but the art (and movie) clearly show multiple fingers getting sliced off. Weird. Anyway, S- Rating.
[[Lobelia Sackville-Baggins]]: The best thing about playing Dihada is having access to way more cards than anyone else. This card helps this advantage by letting you play more of those cards. Save her for a rainy day and suddenly you’ve got a bunch of treasure, which at the very least can be used for commander tax. Not bad. B+ Rating.
[[Nasty End]]: Again, Dihada’s -3 is usually powerful enough that this is unnecessary, so I wouldn’t put this in my own deck. That being said, there are plenty of non-legendary cards worth drawing, too, so it’s nice that we aren’t forced to discard them. I would probably save this for if my own creature was about to be destroyed anyway to squeeze that extra bit of value from it. B- Rating.
[[One Ring to Rule Them All]]: Self-milling isn’t exactly a bad thing for us, but destroying all nonlegendary creatures is really why we want to play this card. That being said, there are other legendary-themed decks, not to mention that Commanders are all legendary, so I don’t like this effect over general destruction. It’s why I don’t play Urza’s Ruinous Blast, too, and at least that card is grabbable by -3. B Rating.
[[Sauron, the Necromancer]]: I am not a fan of exiling the cards I’m attempting to loop back onto the battlefield, so I can’t say I want to play this card, but I can’t ignore it either. If you’ve got enough Ring temptation in the deck, then keeping the token is nice, but the risk seems unnecessary to me. B- Rating.
[[Witch-king of Angmar]]: This thing’s play pattern seems sick in Dihada. The first and most obvious thing is that it has Flying, which is always welcome, and 5 power to make that keyword a serious threat. The second ability is pretty great for us, too, since it deters people from attacking us (always useful in multiplayer), and should someone actually attack you, not only does it hurt them but it benefits us by increasing our Ring temptations. Lastly, the cherry on top, it can become indestructible! Any legendary card with indestructible capabilities is sure to grab my attention since it can survive my board wipes without requiring a +2 from Dihada, but this also allows it to survive most targeted removal, which people will want to use in order to remove his deterring from the situation. And is it costly to make him indestructible? Not when you have Dihada as a planeswalker and plenty of value cards in the deck. In fact, discarding a card can sometimes benefit us with our reanimation theme. TLDR Literally everything about this card is good for us. S+ Rating.
[[Eomer, Marshal of Rohan]]: Additional combat phase potential on a solid statline card. With Sauron, the Lidless Eye, and Gandalf, White Rider, this set has a decent amount of support for aggression, especially for any Token variants. A+ Rating.
[[Gloin, Dwarf Emissary]]: I put this in a similar category as Mahadi, Emporium Master, and Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge. They’re three drops that can get you treasure, and this is good for us, although I would say that Gloin has much slower potential than the others. So why play him? He’s a Dwarf, and if you’re running Magda, there are definitely going to be games where Gloin gets going. And the goad ability isn’t terrible. B Rating.
[[Rising of the Day]]: As I’ve been saying, I hope to test my Haste cards soon. To reiterate, haste is a great option to follow up board wipes to keep aggression going. The fact that this both gives haste and buffs attackers makes it a pretty solid option for the Token variant. I really wish this were legendary itself, though. B Rating.
[[Spiteful Banditry]]: Not much to say about this. Red Meathook Massacre is obviously very strong, even with its advantages. For instance, the damage won’t kill our indestructible creatures while Meathook could, and treasure has synergy with a lot of the cards in our deck. But Meathook is legendary, which probably makes it better, but why the hell am I choosing one in the first place? Sure it’s a tight deck but surely it has room for both. S Rating.
[[There and Back Again]]: This is not a legendary card, and I don’t think I would call this legendary-support, either. But I look at those 14 treasures and think about all the things I could cast after a Dihada -3, or even being able to pay for more commander tax. The problem is fitting it into the deck. B- Rating.
[[The Balrog, Durin’s Bane]]: A huge threat in any deck, it’s a 7/5 haste that will be difficult for many decks to block, and even if they do, that’s okay. But none of this is particularly Dihada-related, so why play him? The cost reduction works with treasure tokens, my dudes. S- Rating.
[[Eowyn, Fearless Knight]]: This card hurts my brain. It has midrange stats, a control effect, and aggro potential, so it could probably be put into most decks I imagine, and ours is no exception. In most cases, hitting a commander is the best option, but there are definitely exceptions to avoid, but this in no way devalues the card. S Rating.
[[King of the Oathbreakers]]: I’m not playing many spirits so this is another card I’m not playing, but not necessarily bad in Dihada decks. There are some good legendary spirits, most importantly Agrus Kos, Eternal Soldier for the spreading of Dihada’s +2, but don’t sleep on Hofri Ghostforge as support for this kind of strategy if you choose to include it. Weirdly, he activates even if targeted by your own spells. I’m…not sure how that’s relevant, but go wild. B- Rating.
[[Lotho, Corrupt Shirriff]]: With the treasure we get from Dihada and friends, casting two spells a turn even with a potentially expensive curve can be quite doable. For us, Lotho replaces one of the treasures we might be spending to do so, And don’t forget we usually have large hands from -3s so you don’t have to worry about having the resources. And if he doesn’t get any value from your opponents, that’s mostly a good thing, too. He almost feels like a worse Smothering Tithe, but that isn’t meant as an insult. A Rating.
[[Merry, Esquire of Rohan]]: Obviously he works wonderfully in an aggro deck with equipment and such, but it’s the draw that’s most enticing. It won’t be incredibly difficult to trigger it, and it might not even be difficult to keep him alive. In a multiplayer game, there will probably be someone tapped out or lacking creatures, so you can send Merry that way. But, of course, there’s always Dihada’s sweet protection, too. I’ve said that card draw isn’t needed in a Dihada deck, but it doesn’t hurt, either, especially when it’s on a legendary permanent. A+ Rating.
[[Shadowfax, Lord of Horses]]: While the horse lord effect is cool, thankfully that haste ability
does apply to itself, and that’s all I really care about. There are plenty of cards in the deck that this can cheat into play, including all three Olivias (though you miss Crimson Bride’s timing). For Shadrix Silverquill, missing the timing could be considered a good thing at times. And while you would miss Crimson Bride or Aurelia, the Warleader’s timings, you could +2 Dihada during the second main phase if you’re worried. A+ Rating.
[[Anduril, Flame of the West]]: There’s so much equipment-themed legendary cards in this set that an equipment Dihada just got far more viable, but this is solid in a non-equipment themed deck, too. With board wipes being a primary strategy to make way for our indestructible creatures, an equipment that creates more flying attackers is powerful to say the least. It will likely make your average game end quicker. S Rating.
[[Horn of Gondor]]: Even without humans in the deck, this card has exponential growth build in. It’s like a Krenko, Mob Boss, except it doesn’t have the weakness of being a creature. Also, we actually do have plenty of awesome human options in the deck already. At worst, it’s three mana for a chump blocker each turn. B Rating.
[[Horn of the Mark]]: With haste cards, this card becomes way more viable. There’s a lot of card draw in this set, but this is one of my favorites. The idea of grabbing a creature from the top
five every turn sounds like a dream, and for only a two mana investment and attacking with two creatures. If you lack legendary land, then you probably won’t benefit from this as much as other card draws, since this can’t get you land and Dihada won’t be getting you as much land. S Rating.
[[Mithril Coat]]: We keep getting more indestructible options and I’m not complaining. Every one we add makes our board wipes a bit stronger. Don’t sleep on the fact that this is indestructible, too! There will definitely be times when we need to destroy artifacts and enchantments with Cleansing Nova, and this protects itself. Plus, most cards can’t remove it. S Rating.
[[The One Ring]]: As I keep saying, card draw often feels unnecessary, but with a lifelink commander it’s hard to resist the temptation The One Ring has to offer. Perhaps it’s difficult to resist the temptation even without life gain. Protection from everything until your next turn sounds unreal, and I think the best way to abuse that is to use it to kill someone. To clarify, I don’t mean that this gives your creatures protection (it doesn’t), but that you can safely all in someone without worrying about getting killed while tapped out. That sounds fantastic to me. S+ Rating.
[[Palantir of Orthanc]]: With our reanimation cards, self-milling isn’t a big deal. The longer the game goes on, the more worried we might get about milling ourselves out, but this is commander! We have a 99 card deck. I think we’re good. Also, the longer the game goes on, the more likely it is that a player won’t want to risk losing a ton of life. S Rating.
[[Phial of Galadriel]]: I know people read this card and instantly focus on the first two abilities, but that’s not my concern. This is a legendary mana rock, and its mana value may seem less desirable than others, it’s something we can grab from Dihada and absolutely worth a slot, in my opinion. I doubt the first two effects will occur much in my version, but it may help others. I dream of the day I have less than five life and can pull off a lifelink Heartless Hidetsugu trigger to gain an enormous amount of life. S- Rating.
[[Barad-dur]]: COLORED LEGENDARY LAND! And it can build an army as a mana sink! S+ Rating.
[[Great Hall of the Citadel]]: Not a legendary land but a pretty good land for us to be playing with all the legendary spells we have. S- Rating.
[[The Grey Havens]]: PSEUDO-COLORED LEGENDARY LAND, and it’s uncommon!! Early in the game it may only tap for colorless, but the scry can help us to look for colored land. Plus, after a -3 or two, we’ll have the colors we need. S+ Rating.
[[Minas Tirith]]: COLORED LEGENDARY LAND! And it comes with card draw! S+ Rating.
[[Mines of Moria]]: COLORED LEGENDARY LAND! And it can turn milled cards (like land) into treasures! S+ Rating.
[[Mount Doom]]: MULTICOLORED LEGENDARY LAND! I could be mistaken, but to my knowledge this is the first legendary dual land in the game. I’d have included it simply based on that. But on top of that it comes with a ping for
each opponent and even a board wipe? Pure insanity. S+ Rating.
Starter Kit
[[Gandalf, White Rider]]: Another Gandalf! This one is probably more suited for your deck. Having Vigilance is always useful for a deck with a planeswalker commander. He can help get you a bunch of power by casting the many spells you’ll have access to with Dihada’s -3, you’ll get to scry to make sure you hit what you want to hit, and then he doesn’t even die! And while returning fifth from the top may seem like a lot, as long as you can -3, you’ll only have to wait one turn to see him again, making all of his benefits consistent. S Rating.
[[Gollum, Scheming Guide]]: Gollum’s play pattern is that he doesn’t seem to die in combat. Either the opponent guesses correctly and Gollum is protected by being removed from combat, or they guess wrong and Gollum is protected by being unblockable. I suppose the downside is that you may be revealing the top card of your deck for free with no other actions. But the upside is potentially drawing a card every turn. Is it worth it? Gameplay-wise, maybe. Fun-wise, definitely. B Rating.
[[Witch-king, Bringer of Ruin]]: While nowhere near as good as the other Witch-king, there is definitely some synergy in the deck because usually players don’t have many creatures after repeated board wipes. Having this out forces players to either hold back their bigger cards for safety, or to play multiple, likely smaller, creatures. It’s a good position to be. A- Rating.
[[Fires of Mount Doom]]: Weirdly the best thing about this card, to me, is the equipment destruction. Besides that, I don’t see the two damage to a creature or the two damage to players as particularly useful, and the card advantage you can gain from it is surely less than Dihada. If you happen to have one I guess it’s a good budget option, but I can’t see myself pushing a card out of the deck to make way for this. B- Rating.
[[Sauron, the Lidless Eye]]: This is not a card that I will be putting in my deck, but I’ve seen comments from people who play a Token variant of Dihada that would benefit from this card. My version of the deck doesn’t go wide with all of the board wipes I include. If you find that you often go wide, Sauron is a decent card for you. It can also be good if you use an Aristocrat version that can sacrifice the creature you controlled, but remember that you only control it for the single turn. As for my personal assessment, B- rating, but like I said his stock goes up in the right deck.
Commander Decks
[[Gwaihir, Greatest of the Eagles]]: THE EAGLES ARE COMING!! Seriously, though, this card is absolutely nuts for us. I have no idea why this isn’t six or seven mana. A 5/5 flying that can give other creatures flying and makes more fliers that also give other creatures flying seems like a lot for only five mana, and it’s mostly colorless mana to boot. I suppose having to gain three life every turn is supposed to be a major weakness? But clearly it’s not for us. I have no problem whatsoever +2ing this every turn. S+ Rating.
[[The Gaffer]]: So much card draw in this entire set I’m kind of sick of it. This would be a lot better with three power, since Dihada could make him trigger himself. Just to reiterate, card draw becomes more important the less legendary land you have, since -3 won’t net you as many land and treasure is only one time use, so you need other ways of ensuring you get more land. A Rating.
[[Gollum, Obsessed Stalker]]: An interesting addition that can help you deal a ton of damage, either over time or in the right situation, due to Dihada’s lifelink. Obviously my favorite would be Heartless Hidetsugu, a combo which I believe instantly kills everyone in the majority of situations, and the only times it wouldn’t are due to Heartless Hidetsugu’s “rounded down” clause. So the fact that this is a cheap creature we can play that can secure us a lot of damage over time or result in an instant kill combo makes it versatile and threatening. If you’re not playing Heartless Hidetsugu (why, tho?) or a lifelink variant of the deck, its rating would lower, but S- Rating for me.
[[Gimli of the Glittering Caves]]: This card looks really strong on paper as something that can deal a ton of damage, make a ton of treasures, even gain a ton of life with +2. That being said, I don’t play too many ways to give evasion, meaning that he’ll likely be blocked on repeat. Our version of “evasion” comes from board wiping after a +2, and I don’t know if it’s worth it to do that too often. That being said, the additions of Gwaihir and The Black Gate give us more evasion options! A Rating.
[[Lobelia, Defender of Bag End]]: “Without paying its mana cost” has me excited about this card. It isn’t like it’s difficult for us to get artifacts to sacrifice with -3. And even once we run out of cards to cast we can use extra treasures to ping for two and gain two. And since it says “play a card” instead of cast, we can even trade treasure for land if that’s what we exiled, and that’s pretty cool. Plus I love having knowledge of the cards my opponents don’t have access to while they don’t. There’s even a world in which this is removed immediately, only to be reanimated and surprise everyone with those cards, so the fun factor is on point, too. S- Rating.
[[Too Greedily, Too Deep]]: I like my reanimation decks to be playable from the graveyard in case we discard them, but I can’t say the same for board wipes since there aren’t many options that fit. So even though this is a reanimation card that doesn’t have flashback, it doubles as a board wipe and, I think, is acceptable to go in. S- Rating.
[[Wake the Dragon]]: This seems like a budget card to me, but I have a soft spot for Flashback cards since we don’t mind discarding them from the -3. B- Rating.
[[Crown of Gondor]]: I’m always a fan of introducing The Monarch into the game. As I’ve said, I love deterring effects, and while The Monarch makes people want to attack us temporarily, it quickly becomes a deterring effect. B+ Rating.
[[The Black Gate]]: LEGENDARY LAND!! And evasion is a rare addition for us!
Box Toppers
[[Morgul-Knife]]: AKA Shadowspear. We don’t include a ton of trample and this could make a big difference. Plus everything else it has to offer. S Rating.
[[Isengard, Saruman’s Fortress]]: AKA Boseiju, Who Shelters All. Being able to make your board wipes, destruction, and reanimation effects uncounterable is always cool, but coming into play tapped, only adding colorless, and needing to pay life is a serious trade off. A+ Rating.
[[The Dead Marshes]]: AKA Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Obviously a great card. Expensive. S+ Rating.
[[Glittering Caves of Aglarond]]: AKA Gemstone Caverns. In a multiplayer game, chances are you're not the starting player, making this likely to go off if in your starting hand. Losing a card from your hand may not feel great, but accelerating your plays is probably worth it. Not to mention Dihada is going to refill your hand. S+ Rating.
[[Osgiliath, Fallen Capital]]: AKA Kor Haven. Again, tapping for colorless is tough in a three color deck, but being able to defend against a creature every turn is cool for the turns that you -3 instead of +2.Remember that you can protect Dihada this way. S+ Rating.
[[Helm’s Deep]]: AKA Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep. Colored legendary land and can give our creatures first strike. S+ Rating.
Conclusion

2023.06.10 15:57 bradmont Configuring/using the android port with doom?
Has anyone managed to get the android port working with distros like Doom? I'm currently using termux, which is very close to perfect as it is, except that it doesn't do graphical stuff like embedded images in org files.
Documentation on the native android port is hard to find; searching tends to give me decades old stack overflow questions and lots of info about termux.
Are there good docs about configuring the Android port?
Maybe the ideal at this point would be just to be able to point the native port to the .emacs.d I have already set up in termux, if there's a way to do that?
Thanks!

2023.06.10 15:44 Famas_1234 The final update is here. Then, Let's make a verdict: are you satisfied with Sunbreak?
Intro
After base Rise which released on March 2021 on Switch and early 2022 on PC, Sunbreak was released in late June 2022 with new direction. The director is different, with inclusion of Frontier stuffs added in the game. This adds more variety of content with new features. Sunbreak is the game with most modern platforms present, ranging from PC (or Gamepass), portable consoles (Switch), and home consoles (Xbox Series, PS4/5).
Retrospective:
are you satisfied with MHRise? At last, the final version has come on 8 June 2023 which is the version 16. That means it marks almost a year of title updates (TUs) which has 5 TUs + 1 bonus update. With that, various additions and improvements are added until the latest version. Several monsters -- new and returning -- are added, menu improvements, extensive post-game content, and more.
Of course, any game has their own pluses and minuses which is up to you to interpret. With that, I want to make evaluation and verdict about Sunbreak for you to have some thoughts and opinions for this expansion.
For categories, I divide the category into:
- Gameplay: weapon/buddy/follower combat design, equipment and skill design, quest design, level design, monster combat design
- Presentation: visual design, animation, audio design, soundtrack, story, and cutscenes
- Experience: user experience, controls, accessibility, performance, multiplayer
- Support: title updates, improvements
- Endgame: post-game content, grinding
As a caution,
spoilers are open. Now, let's get started
1. Gameplay
Self explanatory. You play the game, right?...right?
1a. Weapon combat design Sunbreak introduced new switch skills and new feature: switch skill swap. The swap changes switch skills in two loadouts: red scroll and blue scroll. With this, players can switch their playstyle around switch skills. Moreover, new switch skills introduced make the combat flashier and more customizable than before. Other than that, these weapons get balance updates even prior title updates. Some playstyles get more balance changes so that the gameplay feels balanced than before.
- Which weapon do you main? Are you having fun with these new features?
- Which weapon gets the most/least benefits for these new skills?
- Which weapon is the most/least improved, balance wise?
- Which weapon convinces you to try more after getting these new features?
- What do you want to see more about these skills? Do you think these added skills will be implemented for the future games? (example: moves from switch skills will replace the some of the core movesets permanently for next game)
1b. Buddy, follower, and endemic life Buddies, such as Palico and Palamute, got new equipment and skills. This means they can now contribute more than before. More tools and gadgets added for expanding the game.
- What do you think about their new tools and abilities? Are they significant enough towards combat gameplay which makes you depend on them?
- Do you think those buddy skills will be implemented for the future?
- Should this buddy system be implemented for the future?
Besides buddies, there are followers. Same as buddies, they can support for players during combat. Buddy amount wise, you can have four buddies: two pets and two followers. As a note, followers are only available at single player.
- Who's your favorite follower?
- Do you think followers should contribute more?
- Do you think followers should be implemented for next game?
Don't forget about endemic life too. Sunbreak also added new endemic life to expand further to gameplay, ranging from various wirebugs (ruby, gold) and more creatures (marionette spider, etc.).
- Which new endemic life do you think has the most/least benefit?
- Should this endemic life system be implemented for next game?
1c. Equipment and skill design This is where it goes spicy. Equipment is the most crucial, meta-defining feature in the game.
For weapons, the stats are varied than before with additional trees. The ramp-up skills for weapons in Rise are changed into a decoration, called rampage decorations. This allows weapons to use rampage and one-off skills.
- Stat wise, do you think the weapons are balanced enough? What are the best/worst weapon trees?
- What do you think about the change from ramp-up skills into rampage decoration? Does it ease the customization more?
- Most/least favorite rampage skill to use?
For armors, the skills are getting varied more than before with returning skills from previous games but with modernized mechanics. Some skills are more radical and thematic with representing monsters. For example, you have to reach certain damage to buff your stats on time, otherwise you got debuff (bloodlust); or let's say you can change buffs according to your scroll color but some has tradeoffs (furious, mail of hellfire); or another one: changing your health mechanics but benefits into damage (berserk, dereliction).
- Do you think these lineup of armor skills are good or better than before?
- Most/least favorite armor skill to use?
- Most/least impactful armor skill so far?
How about the initial balance? To balance these skills, usually the decorations are determined by decoration level, from Lv1-Lv4. To accommodate the feature, some armors, weapons, and talismans get a slot for those
- How is the balance of armor skills, whether it's for the stats or decoration level? Is is balanced enough?
For post game features like Qurious Crafting (armoweapon) and talismans, I'll elaborate in Endgame section 1d. Quest and level design For quests, the design remains the same, except now we got follower quests. These quests are specifically designed to delve more into certain followers. Other than that The quest design is improved for story purposes, meaning that we can understand more the story.
- What do you think about quest design that integrates more to a story?
- Some quests are presented once (example: afflicted Lunagaron story), meaning the set piece cannot be replayed again. What do you think about this decision?
- What do you think about follower quests and its progression? Does the reward worth the content?
For level design, we got two major areas: Jungle and Citadel. Jungle is a recreation from MHFU Jungle. The map features rich and vibrant design with added verticality (it has rain at night!). Citadel is a new and larger map designed with three themes of environment: forests, snow, and castle. While they are at most large, it's dimension is still approachable
- What do you think about those maps so far?
- Should they recreate more old maps?
- What should be the ideal size for a map? Horizontal vs vertical design?
What about rampage quests? Rampage has finished its story so there are no rampages in Sunbreak. However, some levels use heavy artillery from rampage implemented there.
- What do you think about heavy artillery in Sunbreak, since they are shown a bit limited? Should they implement them more?
- On heavy artillery, how would you design a level/quest/area with focus on that?
Lastly, arena stages like Gaismagorm arena and Forlorn arena. While they are straight to the point, the helpers are there with various endemic life placed for the arena
- Are the arenas good enough to play?
1e. Monster combat design With introduction of Master Rank, monsters are getting harder with some movesets added and/or changed. New moves are trending at chip damage, multiple hits, or big hits. Some are faster to counter player counterattacks, aerials, blocking, and more. With this, it creates more challenge to hunt with these pace
- What do you think about the trends of monster combat design?
- Do you think these trends should exist in future game?
- Which monster is most/least improved from High Rank to Master Rank?
- Which Sunbreak monster is good enough for a combat? Is that also your favorite monster to fight against?
- Which monster feels the most faiunfair, even for the new ones?
Talking about monsters, don't forget about wyvern riding. Prior Sunbreak release, we have been given a feature not to force ride if hitting the monster. However, wyvern riding for new monsters has more moves and combos. Sometimes, single strong movement is not enough.
- What do you think about wyvern riding moveset for new monsters?
- Which new monster is the most fun for wyvern riding?
- With endemic buffs like ruby/gold wirebug, which one do you prefer?
2. Presentation
Presentation is where players can experience the art direction of the game, including the visual and audio identity of the game
2a. Visual design After the eastern or let's say Japanese centric visual direction on base Rise, Sunbreak goes into rather "European" direction (at least east Europe centric?). We can see medieval style with some of the equipment, character design, and even monster designs. However, this feels different compared to western style used in old school MH (talk about MH1 and MH2). Those gens were truly darker in theming, but now it's vibrant, which can be a balance to old approach blended with fantasy feel
- What do you think about the shift of visual direction from Rise to Sunbreak?
- What do you think about the character, NPC, and equipment designs?
- What do you think about environmental designs especially the village and the areas?
- What do you think about monster designs in general?
A bonus about returning contents remade, such as returning areas and monsters. Polygons and texture resolution are getting upgrades. Environmental lighting retouches the materials of areas and monsters. Skyboxes rich in color makes vibrant feel for the game.
- What do you think about these graphical update for returning contents such as monsters and areas? Does it still have the same charm as source material?
2b. Animation design The animation is something MH doesn't miss for this kind of content. We can see the facial expressions during cutscenes (later discussed in 2e), new moves, better implemented animations on equipment design, monsters' animation, NPCs, and more. Moreover, some of these animations are motion captured, meaning that it can match realistic movement with creative freedom. While in final product feels faster, it's still realistic due to the capture
- What do you think about general animation design here?
- What would you like to see the animations forward?
2c. Audio design Another thing about these cool arts are audios. Playing with sounds with choice of output options such as speakers/headphones/soundbars makes varying experiences. Besides that, audio designs for the game are getting more oomph, such as explosion sounds with enhanced bass and middles.
- First of all, what kind of audio output you usually play on? What do you hear, feel, and think about audio design on the game? Which audio preference do you choose in the options settings?
- What do you think about audio design in Sunbreak? What makes it different than Rise?
- Are there standouts for great audio design in Sunbreak (not limited to sound effects)?
2d. Soundtrack Audios are something to hear, including the soundtrack (OST if you like abbreviations). OST direction in Rise were inspired with Japanese instruments, something that was mostly presented in MHP3rd. It added vocal choirs for each areas and monsters. In Sunbreak, the direction is different. There are more emphasis on classic instruments with fewer choir segments. As a tradeoff, the horns section is more frequent than before. That's no exception with returning OSTs such as Jungle music and monsters like Astalos, Seregios, Magalas, and more. They even invited the original composer to rearrange said monsters to give a faithful feel.
To give reference,
Sunbreak OST directory is here. Also, I created the MH
composer list - What do you hear, feel, and think about the Sunbreak OSTs in general? What do you like from them? What are your favorite track(s)?
- What do you think about original composer rearranging some returning OSTs? Do you feel something different? Is it necessary to do?
- What kind of soundtrack direction do you want forward?
2e. Story and cutscene design Story in MH is arguably not the kind of priority, mostly for the lores and stuffs. However, for Rise series, they are more emphasized, direct, and personal. This direction continues in Sunbreak, enhancing what's missing from Rise (minus Rampages). Characters are more expressive, including side characters who gives somewhat more important backstory. And of course, there are more character content. First, the follower quests which makes more character story. That also supported by their social media team who gives more further information about character story. Moreover, if you see the characters, their names are more personal and given rather than by title. For example: the name's Galleus vs Admiral
Cutscene design is no exception. While they are basically have focused direction as Rise, The experience is still good. You can feel the overall tension of the story.
- What do you think about the story so far? Does is more direct and "in your face" compared to older games?
- What story aspect that stands out for you, and what aspect that can be improved?
- How's the cutscene so far?
- What do you think about names which is now personal than being a title in previous games?
- Do you think they should emphasize more into the story in the future?
3. Experience
Experience is how players experience the game, such as how to access the game, how does it control and perform, and the multiplayer experience
3a. Overall user interface and user experience With UI and UX improvements, such as loadouts, equipment & talisman navigation, quest navigation, etc., the overall experience is improved from what's inside Rise. That applies in Rise version especially UX updates.
- What is the most improved aspect of the UI and UX in this game?
- How was the experience when you entered Sunbreak the first time? Did it overwhelm you?
- Is the tutorial popup helpful or at least improved, judging from the timing and how it's described in the game?
- What kind of UI and UX you want to see in the future?
3b. Menu information (visual) Menu is the most vital part of MH, giving people information about what's up. In hunter's notes, unlike previous games, they've shown actual numbers and meters to inform the values. This is huge in meta aspect, making the fight easier to analyze such as hitzone values, weakness thresholds, and more. Another thing is the armor skill descriptions. There are some consistencies need to be desired such as when to show the numbers in description or not. For example: damage +10 vs (further) increases damage.
- What do you think about these menu information? Does it inform you enough, or do you want it more?
- Do you think they need to make descriptions more concise or verbose, or should they release more numbers in description?
3c. Controls (motoric) In combat section, with introduction of switch skill swap, the controls become more complex. At least they have shown the UI for indicator, which is still a good thing. For PC, there are control improvements, even though there are some unfamiliarities transitioning from controller to keyboard and vice versa
- What do you play with? Does it play responsively?
- Optional: do you make the transition from one control to another? (example: controller to KbM)
- Switch users: do you feel different controlling in portable/docked mode?
- Does this game need full button remaps or at least button presets?
3d. Audio experience (audio) This has slightly different question than audio design in section 2. There are extensive audio controls in this game, including 3D audio. With this option, players can listen the direction of the sound
- How's the audio engineering? Is it well mixed?
- How's the 3D audio so far? Any differences compared to basic version?
3e. Performance and graphics (tech) Title, so I straight up ask
- For PC, optional: specify the main PC specs such as CPU, GPU, storage, RAM, VRAM. How does it perform in your PC? What are the most intensive performance so far? How's the driver update treat the performance? Is there a bottleneck so far?
- frame rate: 30, 60, 120, or unlimited fps?
- How's the booting time? Does it concern you?
- For home console: specify the console used. How's the performance so far?
- For switch: how's the performance on portable and docked mode? Are there changes on optimizations?
- In terms of graphics, where are the most beautiful scenes? (excluding cutscenes)
3f. Multiplayer (online) Multiplayer is one of the key features to experience in MH. Because of it, this time I put them in experience section. Although the experience is basically the same in Rise, there can be improvements, maybe a bit subtle, so I'll ask again
- How's the general experience of multiplayer in Sunbreak? Are there improvements compared to Rise?
I forgot to mention in Rise, the quest design flow is a bit different. If we compare to World, Rise is offline first. This affects how quests are designed. For the host, quest can be toggled for online but only in the hub whereas World can toggle while hunting due to online first design (SOS Flare +++ quests). Now for the finder, you can search while in "offline" mode (should I say asynchronous mode since searching lobby is basically online?). You can select specific quest. But there is one caveat, you don't know the players playing the quest or not, so for the finder it can be frustrating if there are no specific quests posted.
- Do you think this is a good multiplayer quest design so far? Is there something that needs to be improved?
- What should be the better multiplayer system for MH? (doesn't need to be retrospective)
4. Support
4a. Title updates Title Update (TU) is the most vital part of the game given how to make the game long lasting until now. TUs come with bunch of stuffs, including but not limited to monsters, gimmick weapons, additional weapon balances, followers able to participate anomaly quests, new craftable decos, and more. In fact, besides updates, we get more QoL features and improvements based on the feedback to make more convenience.
- What's your opinion about the overall TU lineup for Sunbreak?
- Which TU feels significant content wise? Also, which TU is your favorite?
- What do you think about how they treated weapon balance prior updates?
- Is the QoL across the updates enough, mainly for UI and UX aspects, or is there something that needs to be addressed more?
- Does the performance stable enough to handle TUs?
- Does the TU make grinding easier over time?
4b. Event quests Event quests are operated independent against TUs. As the name suggests, let's jump straight to questions:
- Do you like that the updates are independent against TUs?
- Downloadable quests vs scheduled event quests?
- Are you satisfied about the rewards after completing even quests??
5. Endgame
5a. Anomaly quests, monsters, and grinding After the final boss, there are anomaly quests that elevates the difficulty from the base version. Majority of monsters get afflicted with qurio parts to break with indications if some parts are broken, the player(s) passes the damage check which topples monster. Otherwise, monster unleashes large and stunning AoE damage which is kind of dangerous. Some may say it's akin to MHGen hyper monsters which has hyper parts needed to hit to increase hunter arts gauge. The rewards? You get afflicted materials.
However, anomaly quests and the rewards are not enough. They introduce anomaly investigations. This may be similar to MH4U endgame quest (disclaimer: I don't play MH4U). Anomaly investigation has the level system that needs to be increased to get better rewards with a increased difficulty. These rewards
- What do you think about anomaly quest design, and what about the rewards?
- What do you think about anomaly investigation design, and what about the rewards? Does the rewards worth the time to grind?
- In case of investigation. What is your usual time to beat the quest? How exhausting is the progress by grinding more? What do you think about its increased difficulty and the damage?
- What do you think about afflicted monsters gameplay? Is it well designed for its stats, mechanics and moveset?
- Favorite afflicted monster to fight?
- Which monster is the best/worst for anomaly quests?
As the anomaly endgame goes further, we are introduced with Risen elder dragons, who got in control with qurio to make them afflicted. Risen elder dragons difficulty is increased with exclusive moves that explodes anywhere near (or a bit further) with fearful damage. What makes them different than afflicted monster is they don't inflict bloodblight as the afflicted ones.
- What do you think about risen elder dragon so far, whether for its difficulty, moveset, time to complete, etc?
- What's your usual completion time for risen quests? Does the reward worth the grind?
- By completing these anomaly quests with some level requirement, you can unlock a new decoration and craft it from those quest rewards. Therefore, there are variety of decorations as opposed to Rise. Is this system good enough to be implemented
5b. Qurious crafting: armor As the reward for completing anomaly quests, you get items for augmenting equipment a bit further, particularly afflicted essences. Qurious armor takes the augmenting further, adding or trading skills so that the augmentations can be mixed.
- Whats your opinion about qurious crafting in general?
- How grindy is this in comparison to previous games' grindy sections (like MHW deco grind and others)?
- In terms of augmentation, do you like the fact you can have a tradeoff involving defense, slots, and skills?
- Do you think this augmentation is better implemented for next game? Or are there other suggestions for armor augments?
- Bonus: do you play without qurious armors this whole time? Because I do
5c. Qurious crafting: weapons Back in Rise, you can ramp up the weapons with rampage skills. Since Sunbreak, these upgrades are replaced by qurious weapon crafting. This features stat increases such as raw/elemental attack, sharpness and slot upgrade, and other upgrades like shell types. What makes them different compared to qurious armor crafting is this one's requirement is fixed and can minmax freely after you unlock what's desired. This system doesn't reward randomly like in armor. However, with this characteristics, the grind is real that you need to reach some of highest level of anomaly investigation
- What's your opinion on qurious weapon crafting in general?
- Do you think this kind of augmentation can be implemented for later games?
5c. Hazard quests Hazard quests was introduced in late title updates. Currently, these quest is implemented for all monsters after accomplishing anomaly investigation level 300, event quests, or even hub quests. These quests introduces modified movesets for monsters and also increase their health. In practice, the rewards are title badges and more.
- What do you think about hazard quests so far? How's the difficulty of it?
- Does it worth the accomplishment?
Closing
This is a closing part of the post. MH Rise series has come into the end with Sunbreak final update. We don't know what will happen how for the mainline series goes, but this marks for 2 years of service including planned last event quests at 27 July 2023. I believe there are many community contribution through this series, ranging from fanarts to in depth meta guides.
Last but not least, after these evaluations, it's time for the verdict.
The verdict: are you satisfied with Sunbreak?
Thank you

https://docs.novoos.net/novoos/novoos-pitch-deck Novoos team made an incredible feature for their project – their own wiki. To be honest, this is unique. In it you can see all kinds of FAQ and information you are looking to get.
https://wiki.novoos.net On the following link you can check all the organizations that Novoos have partnered with.
https://partners.novoos.net/members/ This is a massive project! A short overlook on Novoos utilities. As you probably seen from the whitepaper link above the project is massive and the information is quite a lot therefore, I will give a short overview of their utilities.

Novopad – Most supportive, most giving, most secure, most innovative! The next gen launchpad from Novoos – NovoPad offers extraordinary utilities for anybody that wants to raise funds for their project via many free out of the box offerings. The team strives to ensure that every project receives support throughout the crowdfunding to post launch.
How is Novopad different from their competitors? Let’s talk about prices here – their listing fees is only 0.5 BNB or similar tokens on other networks. I am not sure how much you are aware about competition but let me mention that NovoPad takes no token fees for their launches as opposed to Unicrypt or Pinksale where they get roughly 2% out of your tokens just like that. Let me add that the two platforms mentioned above provide no security measures, no investors tools, no NFT showcase, no project dev options, no insurance cashback while at NovoPad you get those FOR FREE.
I am sure you can take a look at all the problems they solve with their project by exploring it yourself and, of course, doing your own research.
Explore the community channels to be up to date! Novoos project team has provided several social platforms to engage and interact with the community and learn about the upcoming events, listings and announcements. You can also contact the team on their social channels to ask questions about the project. I am sure they will be happy to help.

- When I’m not busy being a gaming dork, I also love movies, tv shows, anime (especially anything Ghibli and the 90s era), creepy and horror stories, and conspiracy theory. Tell me about your favorite series or theory! I love everything from Marvel/DC to Harry Potter and Star Wars to LOTR and other types of fantasy/fiction. I also dabble in fanfics and writing too.
- Loves to cook and makes domestic and foreign cuisines. I especially love anything Asian and oriental style.
- Enjoys being around animals and nature. I own a Morkie puppy and he’s my favorite in the world.
- Finds learning about different cultures and languages to be interesting! If you have any to talk about, I’d be down to learn more about them!

2023.06.10 14:15 Turret_Run [TTRPG Streams] Crushed Opals: that time a TikToker tried to sue their way onto Critical Role
Critical role is an enigma. In the tabletop RPG (TTRPG) community, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall” is a fact of life. TTRPGs are a very lucrative industry, and the demand for new games, books, and shows provides plenty of opportunities for bad actors. From
Satine Phoneix to
Adam “forced robo orgasm” Koebel, it’s normal for this week’s darling to become next week's pariah (almost always for good reason). By that logic CR’s meteoric rise and near decade-long reign means we’re due to find out Mercer binds the souls of orphans to his dice. Until that day, while CR hasn’t stirred up drama, it’s played a (Critical) Role in several tales. Critical Role is basically the NBA of ttrpgs, and a lot of people try their damndest to get a piece of the pie.
.
In that vein, three people have most famously wrecked their own careers trying to cash in on CR. The first two are well known, namely the dragonborn sorcerer
Orion “I want to do four things” Acaba, and former Talks Machina host (current full-time piece of shit)
Brian W. Foster. However, in the background, a third career was also ended by Critical Role, or more specifically the influencer's obsession with it. This is the tale of FreckledHobo, the TikToker who tried to harpoon the white whale of Critical Role, and ended up being dragged under the water.
Welcome... to Critical Role As they put it, Critical Role is “a bunch of nerdy-ass voice actors” who “sit around and play Dungeons and Dragons”, but they are truly so much more.
Started in 2016 by a group of some of the most iconic voice actors in anime, video games, and just general nerd media, the group's in-game chemistry, dedication to roleplaying, and just fun atmosphere took them from a subsidiary of Geek and Sundry to an empire. They have their own TV show, partnerships with major ttrpg companies including the publisher of D&D, Wizards of the Coast, and their own upcoming set of games. And from what we can tell, it couldn’t have happened to a better group of people. As a company and as a cast, CR has a long history of supporting various charities. Anecdotes from fans depict them as nothing but kind, friendly people. Don’t get me wrong, there are critiques to be levied against them about their rather aggressive fanbase and the fact their all-white party is now playing in a SWANA-inspired continent written by a white man, but it’s more things you find out over time than are warned about. When the only hobby drama that actually involves them is about playing a
crappy corporate oneshot or ones where they sound like the victims you know they’ve done well.
This is all to emphasize that Critical Role is big and nearly blemish free, so any attempt to come at them best come correct, or you risk dealing with a massive company and an incredibly rabid fanbase. FreckledHobo was not correct.
Who is Freckled Hobo, and what is tiktok? Katie Ford (aka Freckled Hobo) is technically still an influencer on the video-sharing app TikTok. TikTok is known for two things generally: The diversity/strangeness of its content, and its incredibly detailed algorithm. By interacting with a handful of videos it’s able to create a feed not only specific to your tastes but also sets you up to connect with like-minded people. This leads to incredibly tight-knit communities connected by their passions, which are generally known as ___tok, such as cooktok, booktok, kinktok, or the one we’ll be looking at here, D&Dtok. While this is appealing because it allows influencers to find and build networks with other influencers, it also means drama can never be contained to one part of the community. If anything goes down, the entire community of influencers, and the millions of collective followers, will know every detail in less than 24 hours. This means you’re one good video from skyrocketing to fame, and one bad video from complete collapse.
Freckledhobo belonged to D&Dtok. She rose to stardom by making content about her experiences playing D&D, doing skits to lip-synced audio, having immaculate makeup and cosplay, and generally being a bubbly, fun personality. It’s not an overstatement to say she was the biggest ttrpg influencer on the app, with over 1.2 million followers at the time of the drama. Through her own actual play on Twitch
Dragons and dreaming, she was already well on her way to becoming a star of the ttrpg world in her own right. At least, until she decided her rise wasn't happening fast enough.
Aside: TikTok As you’d expect, much of what transpired with this event happened on TikTok. TikTok’s horrible search algorithm, ease of purging videos, and Freckledhobos own efforts to drown out the controversy and flood her feed have made it impossible to find much of the initial creator response or to even find the video that kicked this off. It’s led to a situation that pretty much looks like
that scene in south park, as you can find a ton of videos in response to what she said, but you can’t actually find the videos they’re referring to. This unfortunately means a lot of this will be “just take my word for it”. Instead of just linking random clips I’m able to find, below are three best collections of content from the event
Here is google doc with transcript of several of the tiktoks and their comment sections Here is a video with some of the deleted tiktoks Here is an article summarizing what happened with a handful of quotes The Claim In late June 2021, Freckledhobo published a TikTok, but there was no silly audio, no cosplay, and no jokes. It was her, sitting in front of (we guess) her house, and on the verge of tears (I would link it but the video itself seems to have been scrubbed too thoroughly for me to find). With a sigh, she began to explain how she believed that Opal, the human warlock with silvery hair played by Aimee Carrero in the recently released
Exandria Unlimited, was a stolen copy of her own character, Opal, also a human warlock with silvery hair in the aforementioned actually play.
Over a series of videos, she detailed her evidence for the claim. The full transcripts are in the document above, but it boils down to her belief that the D&D creator community is incredibly small and
with her million tiktok followers, she must be big enough for her and Opal to be known about. The actual play itself has a whopping 500 followers, and this event was actually the first time I at least had heard about FreckledHobo. She cited her playlist of Opal cosplays as the method by which Carero discovered her character, seemingly pulling it from her TikToks. On the right of the photo
here is Opal's character art.
Here is Freckledhobo in her Opal Cosplay.
She laid out what she felt must be done. She had reached out to Critical Role's legal team and threatened legal action because (*check notes*) someone was playing a similar character to her. She was, however, amicable. She was willing to “settle” for something she felt would be beneficial to both of them: a guest cast role on Critical Role.
As I write this out, I need to specify that this was not a joke misconstrued by a defensive fanbase. She was not attempting to start some light ribbing she was hoping to use to build up a rapport. She seemed to fully believe her character had been stolen, and that she was providing a respectful compromise.
She would eventually say she was given an
“ultimatum” from CR’s legal team and “chose to walk away”, and end this by plugging her current actual play, where Opal would be given a “makeover to look like more of an individual”. There are various videos interspersed and after this, but these are the key ones to understand what’s going on. It should also be noted that throughout this entire event, CR never put out any statements, meaning she’s the only source we have for any conversation.
Putting the Critical in Critical fail Of course, nobody supported her, especially when she stated what she wanted in compensation. The connections between her character and Aimee’s Opal were, to say the least, light. The concept of a gem aestheticized character wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, and there was evidence that Carero had started working on the character
before Freckledhobo. The only strength to her claim was the fact that the profile art for the two characters was similar, both dark-skinned women with silvery hair. However, this is where the problems started not only for FreckledHobo, but her entire actual play cast. As it was the crux of the evidence, people began to question why Opal's profile, and the profiles for much of her cast, left their artists uncredited. It would eventually be discovered that not only Opals but all of their primary artwork, including work used for merchandise, was either traced over or directly ripped from the internet without crediting the artists. Her justification was, in short “they wouldn’t be online if they cared about compensation or credit”.
At the same time another creator CertifiableNerd, someone who had played with FreckledHobo previously came forward saying Freckledhobo was rude in the campaigns she’d played with them, forcing specific character classes and alignment, lying about paying players, forcing players to purchase/make cosplays of characters for games that weren’t even off the ground, and guilting someone for not playing a session when they had a family emergency because they’d be “disappointing fans”. She also would privately claim she had played D&D with Matthew Mercer and Marisha Ray, two founding members of Critical Role, and that they said she was not “special” enough to even play a guest role on CR. I’m more writing about this because it transpired than because it had an effect because none of these details were levied when most people spoke about this. Opal was more than enough to sink this ship.
You see, Freckledhobo had made her fame within the modern niche of D&D players, which is predominantly made up of artists, POC or active allies, and Critical Role fans. Accusing a POC Critical role cast member (who had already been dealing with a lot of issues as a first-time player) of theft, accusing the community of reverse racism, and stealing art was a perfect storm of things to piss them off. It didn’t help that her response was all of this was to release a TikTok saying she expected her “fellow nerds” to have her back while she attempted to bully the Keanu Reeves of D&D into giving her a guest spot. Her entire following turned against her, and her DM promptly quit, ending her own actual play. Other creators either spoke out against her or shut her out, putting her out of favor with the algorithm. In the span of 10 days, Freckledhobo went from an influencer darling on her way to at worst whatever the modern equivalent of Attack the Show is to a toxic personality that most of the community wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole.
To get an idea of how badly she’d poisoned the well, a year later when it turned out she and several others had been invited to participate in the same event, the other creators had to release public apologies and still faced heavy scrutiny for months after.
Post campaign wrapup I often struggle writing the endings of these things because I like to write about large-scale events liable to have ripple effects for years to come. That is not true for FreckledHobo. FreckledHobo's career is dead and will stay dead. You see, the goal of TikTok is to translate your fame to a field that will actually pay your bills, and she pretty much shut down that path entirely. In retrospect, if she hadn’t fucked up her trajectory, she would probably have had that guest cast role a year later or had them on her show.
Connie Chang and
Haley Whipjack, TikTok influencers whose combined follow count is a third of Frecklehobo’s, now play pretty frequently with D&D juggernauts like Travis McElroy and Brennan Lee Mulligan. Hell, it wouldn’t surprise me if she would have gotten herself a cameo in Honor among Thieves the recent D&D movie.
Instead, she is the only example I’ve ever seen of cancel culture being successful.
It has now been 2 years since this all happened, and if you didn’t look closely, you’d think things are fine. She’s even grown from 1.2 to 1.6 million followers! However, followers are to TikTok what views are to modern Twitter: they don’t mean anything. Views are the stronger metric of regular success on the site, and her videos don’t even crack 10,000, less than 1% of her total following. She attempted to re-enter the public eye through further controversy a-la a very
anti-semitic goblin cosplay a year later, but it wasn’t enough to bring her back to the heights she once reached. She’s stepped away from D&D, now only doing cosplays that are
absolutely D&D characters. She says she’s focusing on an acting career which must be going great as sometime between the fiasco and now, she started an onlyfans(
NSFW Link). That announcement, which is pinned to the top of her feed for maximum coverage and has her shaking her ass in a bikini, has 200k views(

has 90 million.
