2023.06.08 06:43 jhanad123 GDS Travel Software
| What is GDS? The Global Distribution System (GDS) is a primary reservation tool for travel agents. GDS is a network that implements travel agencies and their customers to contact travel data, shop for and compare reservations options, and book travel. GDS networks like the system operated by Travelport create billions of dollars in global travel sales. The three most important GDS systems are Amadeus, Sabre and Galileo. How does a global distribution system work? Global distribution systems are an intermediary between vendors, such as hotels and airlines, and service providers, such as online travel agencies. While most big GDSs are associated to the major travel agencies, smaller, less cost GDSs may provide a limited amount of travel agencies. Vendors sign up and link their own listing to a global distribution system. Once associated, guests can use the several portals associated with the GDS to purchase from a vendor. To avoid overbooking, each service provider receives real-time updated listings from the airline or hospitality company (vendor). Not only do vendors show their inventory, but they can immediately update products and rates. BookingXML allows vendors to use a dynamic price method that immediately changes over all of their portals. How does GDS Travel Software help to grow the travel business? 2023.06.08 06:41 rotundfire FAT legal & financial services?
I've been having trouble finding financial professionals that I'm happy with. I've switched CPAs 3 times in 3 years. None have been terrible, but the first two missed basic things on my return, and took days to reply to simple questions. Similarly, I've been putting together an estate plan, and am not getting the level of service I was hoping for from my current attorney.
For health stuff, I pay for a concierge medical practice, which has been a great use of money. For $25k/yr, I get a doctor who does house calls, answers my texts right away, and is very knowledgeable.
I'm hoping to find a similar level of service for tax, and legal (primarily T&E, but also misc contract reviews questions...etc). My needs are pretty basic (W-2, a few K-1s, need to setup a living trust and maybe SLATs in the future), and I realize $25k/yr is probably overpaying, but I'm looking to save time here not money. I specifically don't want an AUM based wealth management firm though. I want to manage my investments on my own, and while I can justify ~$25k/yr, I can't justify $100k+/yr.
I was thinking that maybe a multi-family office would provide these services, but all the ones I've found look like they focus on portfolio management, when what I want is a company that focuses on the other stuff: taxes, estate planning, misc personal legal advice. Does that kind of shop exist, and what would it be called?
I'm based in San Francisco CA, so any recs around here would be ideal!

2023.06.08 05:25 No_Speaker263 LittleBee Trust Fintech - an industry first for Web3! Explore financial compliance innovation by leveraging the advantages of the trust system
With the strong sweep of the Web3 concept over the past few years and the massive march of industry giants in the fintech sector into the Web3 world, the global financial industry is in the midst of a new and ever-changing era, both aspiring to and fearful of the iterations and innovations in technology and industry development models.
It should be noted that innovation has always been an effective way for financial institutions to enhance their competitiveness. Still, while it benefits financial practitioners, it can also lead to unprecedented risks. Compliance and management effectively control the risks associated with financial innovation.
As a result, "compliance", like "innovation", has become an essential part of the financial industry's development.
On the one hand, compliance is necessary for the sound operation of financial markets. There are numerous cases of financial institutions worldwide paying enormous fines for failing to meet local regulatory requirements. At the same time, countries around the world have been strengthening their regulation of financial institutions, which has forced the latter to spend a lot of human, material and financial resources on compliance-related matters, including the interpretation of compliance policy documents and related legal matters, regulatory reporting, business impact analysis, business process improvement and implementation etc.
On the other hand, as the industry adjusts itself and regulation continues to improve, the path of compliance development of fintech is becoming more apparent - Web3, as a typical representative of cutting-edge fintech, is transforming the entire financial industry from multiple dimensions and finance + technology brings about a deep-seated change in business philosophy and business model that is accelerating It has become a new engine for economic growth under the new normal.
In the future, the competition in the financial industry, as "transformed" by Web3, will be a competition for licences/qualifications, outlets/global, regional markets or scale, technology, service and experience. In an increasingly competitive financial industry where the old and the new are alternating, compliance is both a prerequisite for business development and the core of regulation. It is a subject that needs to be discussed in depth by the industry. At the same time, the innovation of "compliance" itself has become a direction worthy of particular attention in the industry.
LittleBee Trust Fintech: the first innovative trust-based compliance solution
As a global white-label service provider of trust technology and hybrid asset allocation platform deeply engaged in the field of fintech, LittleBee Trust Fintech has made great efforts in compliance, combining legal trust relationship with whole asset management for the first time and launching an innovative, compliant financial solution based on a trust system and trust legal relationship, greatly expanding the financial trading platform's breadth and depth.
Based in Hong Kong, LittleBee Trust Fintech focuses on fintech and connectivity to digitally transform global financial markets, integrating traditional and digital finance to provide hybrid finance (HyFi) solutions while addressing the end-to-end technology, regulatory compliance and commerce/smart contract requirements for issuance, trading, risk management, clearing and settlement across exchanges and all asset classes (including equities, bonds, derivatives, commodities, insurance, cryptocurrencies and digital tokenised end-to-end technology, regulatory compliance and commerce/smart contract requirements for issuance, trading, risk management, clearing and settlement across exchanges and all asset classes including equities, bonds, derivatives, commodities, insurance, cryptocurrencies and digital tokenised assets, etc.
Compliance support is one of the enabling services we provide to our B-side clients. The business is mainly led by LittleBee Trust Fintech, which helps B-side financial partners to create and maintain suitable trust structures globally using the latest fintech technology, based on the offshore trust law regime, with trust super accounts as the core, and to create single account for international financial transactions in combination with other global financial licences. This enables its clients to achieve cross-market and cross-chain asset trading compliance.
The superiority of the trust system makes it a high-powered tool in the field of financial compliance.
As an economic system, the trust system is based on the principle of honesty and trustworthiness, without which trust cannot be entrusted; as a legal system, it institutionalises the principle of honesty and trustworthiness and plays a role in building the cornerstone of social trust. In addition, the unique design of the trust system and its flexible forms make it an effective means of solving various complex economic problems.
Trusts are an integrated financial structure, and trust accounts for asset management have the advantages of not only wealth preservation and inheritance, insolvency segregation and security, but also cross-market operations, diversified ways of using funds and flexible transaction structures. Of course, the institutional characteristics of trusts make them more suited to the needs of wealth management and resource consolidation in modern society, in addition to their original function of transferring property, demonstrating their institutional superiority in modern economic and financial activities.
Trusts are widely applicable and highly flexible in the management, use and disposal of movable, immovable and intangible assets, as well as in financing funds, advisory services, asset restructuring and social development for the public good. The Trust Law formalises a new property management system and adds a powerful tool for enterprises to implement capital operations.
LittleBee Trust Fintech's successful exploration of compliance innovation is based on the value of the "intermediary/connector" function that allows the trust to provide a borderless service.
With the development of the economy, the trust function has evolved from the original function based on the institutional arrangement of property to a powerful function of financial trust, trust financial and trust socialisation, the function of trust has dramatically improved the efficiency of the allocation of financial resources, in this sense, the trust has an economic activation role and a variety of social functions, public interest function and economic relationship adjustment function and other trust financial functions.
The trust's robust investment and financing functions are mainly derived from the trust's own institutional advantages and flexible business models, including equity, debt and equity trust models, which realise the organic combination of financial capital and industrial capital while allocating resources through cross-cycle and across money, capital and industrial markets. These powerful and innovative functions put many social resources through integrated allocation into promising and good-yielding industries.
Overall, LittleBee Trust Fintech has introduced an innovative compliance solution that combines the advantages of the trust system, such as diversity of trust purposes, diversity of trust property, diversity of instruments and investments, flexibility in management and application arrangements, the longevity of trust duration and continuity of management, and integration and integration of multiple functions to provide financial solutions.
Our innovative financial compliance support services include a portfolio of innovative licences and fiduciary structures covering trust licences, securities trading licences, currency exchange licences, digital currency licences, trust deed support, KYC/AML and other compliance support; under common law regulation, LittleBee Trust Fintech ensures that all services we provide for "Web2 +Web3" hybrid financial (HyFi) trading services are secure and legal.

2023.06.08 04:08 SkullBasher999 More On How AI Is Going To Take Jobs
Heres a few examples of why ALL jobs are going to become obsolete, for humans,EVENTUALLY,SOME sooner rather than later, but also keep in mind, these technologies are only going to get bettemore efficient/more effective and these things are already possible, so the likeliness of a robot, not being able to do your job and not being able to do your job better than you as well,is really low/its inevitable for robots/AI to render humans obsolete, when it comes to needing humans, to accomplish tasks, not only will colleges only be for fun/hobbies in the future, because of AI and Robots, other technologies will render humans obsolete as well; Here are a few examples of whats been shown/used,so far, Sophia an AI Robot,Artemis Robot, which is a soccefootball playing robot,Boston Dynamics Robots, this company has contracts with Darpa/their robots are aggressive looking,Miso Robotics, this is a company that makes fast food cooking robots, such as Flippy, CookRight and Sippy; Also warehouse technology robots, like Toyota's Autonomous Forklift,Squid,Squid runs on rails, that go from the ground level, upto bays, which allow squid,to pick/pull items out of bays autonomously,Max AI Visual Identification System,is used to identify items and sort them or do certain things with items,it could be used to sort trash/recyclables on a conveyer belt autonomously,Autonomous Mobile Robots AMRs,this robot is used in warehouses,to retrieve/pull items and then take them to other locations,Handle Robot,Handle is a mobile robot that combines the rough-terrain capability of legs, with the efficiency of wheels. It is designed for material-handling applications, and features a manipulator arm capable of picking up heavy boxes, handle uses a swinging "tail" to counterbalance the weight of its arm, when it is holding a heavy box;SuperPick Polybag Picking System is a robotic solution designed by Soft Robotics Inc,the system is intended to enable e-commerce operations to automate the handling, scanning, and loading of outbound orders and returns,Starship Technologies make autonomous delivery robots, which are six-wheeled ground robots that can navigate streets and sidewalks autonomously. They are designed to be safe and robust, offering on-demand package delivery for consumers and businesses. Some have said the robots look like beer coolers, most likely this assessment came from young college kids, since currently that is where the robot/company makes most of their deliveries/this is where most of their business is carried out, on college campuses;Starship Technologies, robots can deliver a variety of items. They are currently available to deliver items on college campuses around the world, where they can deliver food, drinks, office stationery and tools. They are designed to make food and package deliveries more efficient, convenient and sustainable.
,Kiwi,Robo Mart,TeleRetail,Scout Robot, are examples of autonomous mobile robot stores; Construction robots/companies like BAUBOT,OKIBO,Hilti JAIBOT,Dusty Robotics,ULC Robotics,Built Robotics are available now as well; Also medical robots like The da Vinci Surgical Robot, also other companies like Edge Innovations, ABB Ltd,FANUC,Epson,KUKA,Staubli, just to name a few.
These are the different type of welding robots that are available as well:
Resistance Spot Welding Robots
Collaborative Welding Robots
Shielded Metal Arc Welding Robots (SMAW)

A LOT of jobs/workers are becoming obsolete/cashiers,warehouse workers/line workers, construction workers/the self driving field is accomplishing A LOT right now too/Elon Musk,is missing a key component/technology, and thats lidar; Also the U.S. military has had autonomous planes for decades,so pilots are Becoming obsolete as well.
A LOT can be prepped at night for construction workers/machines can be ran at night, also window installing and cleaning bots are a thing now as well.
Also autonomous agricultural bots/robots are a thing now as well.
Drs MAY become obsolete as well/their jobs could/will eventually be taken over by AI/ bots/bots ALREADY do A LOT of surgery, such as Coronary artery bypass ,cutting away cancer tissue from sensitive parts of the body ,such as blood vessels, nerves, or important body organs,Gallbladder removal, Hip Replacement, Hysterectomy,Kidney removal, kidney transplant,Mitral Valve Repair,Pyeloplasty ,surgery to correct ureteropelvic junction obstruction,Pyloroplasty,Radical Prostatectomy,Radical cystectomy,Tubal ligation.
There are several automated equipment/machines/software/robots developed for the radiology field as well, here are SOME examples:
Artificial intelligence (AI), which is a disruptive technology, for every hunan on earth, that is seeking/requiring a job/money,including Radiologist, that will inevitably be replaced in the future, the AI process involves the use of computerized algorithms to dissect complicated data. Among the most promising clinical applications of AI, is diagnostic imaging.
Medical robots handle surgeries, streamline clinical workflow and hospital logistics, and enhance patient care and workplace safety. Medical robots fall into several categories: surgical robots, modular, and autonomous.
Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) use a sophisticated set of sensors, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computing, for path planning, so the machines/software can interpret and navigate through their environment.
Here are some more machines, software, and robots that have been developed for the Radiology field:
- Computer-Diagnosis (CD) Software: CD software uses advanced algorithms to analyze medical images, to detect and diagnose abnormalities. It can detect tumors, fractures, and other anomalies.
- Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS): PACS is a comprehensive software system that stores, retrieves, and distributes medical images and reports. It views and interprets images and then distributes those images and findings/diagnosis.
- Automated Image Analysis Software: This software utilizes machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to automatically analyze medical images, such as CT scans, MRIs, and X-rays. It can detect features or abnormalities and determine a diagnosis and create a treatment plan.
- Robotic Radiosurgery Systems: These robotic systems are used in radiosurgery procedures, such as stereotactic radiosurgery. They combine advanced imaging technology with robotic arms to precisely deliver high-dose radiation to targeted areas, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
- Robotic Surgery: While not exclusive to radiology, robotic surgery systems, such as the da Vinci Surgical System, are used in radiology procedures. They replace surgeons and perform procedures with enhanced precision and dexterity, which is more precise/less invasive, compared to the limitation of humans, these systems are often using imaging guidance as well.
- Automated Teleradiology Systems: Teleradiology systems allow the transmission of medical images over a network,so the computeAI/machines can get access to the data these systems need, to interpret images. Automated teleradiology systems can automatically route and prioritize images, ensuring efficiency within these systems and reducing interpretation time for these systems,so they can diagnose, create a plan and execute that plan/surgery/implement precision radiation treatments, in a timely fashion.
- Automated Dose Monitoring Systems: These systems monitor and track the radiation doses received by patients during radiology procedures, which can aid the AI/machines/bots, in the process of optimized imaging protocols and minimize radiation exposure and make sure the automated plan doesn't need optimizing, with machine learning.
- Automated Workflow Management Systems: These systems automate tasks such as scheduling, image acquisition, report generation, and result distribution, for AI analytics. They can enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve overall workflow coordination, compared to humans.
- Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) Systems: ABUS systems use automated scanning technology to acquire ultrasound images of the breast. These machines are essential for early detection of breast cancer, particularly in women with dense breast tissue and also so this information can be analysed by the AI,so a plan can be created and executed as fast as possible, for a greater success rate, from any stage.
- Virtual Colonoscopy Systems: These systems utilize computed tomography (CT) imaging and specialized software to generate a virtual 3D model of the colon. This system can detect polyps and tumors, without using more invasive methods/by providing an alternative to traditional colonoscopy.
It's worth noting that technological advancements continue to occur rapidly in the field of radiology, and new automated equipment, machines, software, and robots are being developed and refined regularly to improve patient care and outcomes,so obviously the need for human Radiologist are going down at a fast rate, also as you can see even now,Radiology can be automated/humans aren't needed, but in the future, all of this will be even more optimized/even better than it already is.
When it comes to dentistry, a lot of automated equipment, machines, software, and robots have been developed to handle dental procedures and patient care as well. Here are some examples:
- CD/CM Systems: Computer Design and Computer Manufacturing (CD/CM) systems are used in dentistry to create digital impressions, design dental restorations (such as crowns, bridges, and veneers), and fabricate them using computer-controlled milling or 3D printing.
- Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Machines: CBCT machines provide three-dimensional imaging of the oral and maxillofacial region, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment planning of dental conditions. The process is automated, allowing for efficient and accurate imaging.
- Dental Lasers: Dental lasers are used for various procedures, including cavity preparation, gum disease treatment, and soft tissue surgeries. They offer precise and minimally invasive treatment options, with automated settings for optimal outcomes.
- Intraoral Scanners: These devices use optical technology to capture digital impressions of the patient's teeth and oral tissues. They eliminate the need for traditional impression materials, improving patient comfort and enabling more accurate digital restorations.
- Automated Endodontic Systems: Endodontic systems automate root canal treatment. They include features like electronic apex locators, rotary instruments, and obturation devices that enhance precision and efficiency during root canal procedures.
- Robotic Dental Implant Placement: Robotic systems have been developed to perform dental implant placement. They utilize imaging data and robotic arms to precisely position dental implants, improving accuracy and reducing procedure time.
- Digital Radiography Systems: Digital radiography has replaced traditional X-ray film in many dental practices. These systems capture digital images of the teeth and supporting structures, offering immediate results, lower radiation exposure, and automated image enhancement features.
- Dental Practice Management Software: Practice management software streamlines/eliminates the need for administrative personal, in dental offices. They automate appointment scheduling, patient records management, billing, and insurance claim processing, improving efficiency and organization.
- Automated Shade-Matching Devices: These devices use advanced technology, such as spectrophotometry or computer vision, to analyze the color of natural teeth and assist in shade selection for dental restorations. They provide objective and accurate color matching results.
- Automated Tooth Preparation Systems: These systems use robotic technology and artificial intelligence algorithms, for tooth preparation, for various dental restorations. They ensure precise and standardized tooth preparations, reducing the margin for error.
These automated equipment, machines, software, and robots improve dental care by enhancing efficiency, accuracy, patient comfort, and treatment outcomes in various dental procedures.
This is happening more and more NOW too, Brick and Mortar is some what going away/ more stores will either close and open up a distribution center or become a distribution center, door dash will handle that, AND AT SOME POINT, Door Dash will be FULLY AUTONOMOUS as well/the vehicles will be self driving and robots will load and unload the vehicles, Door Dash MAY NOT be the ending company/the only company doing this, BUT a company/companies will be doing this.
Probably SOON employees that unload trucks, stock shelves, truck drivers, should go next, because of self driving vehicles and arms, connected to vehicles, which will drop the package out, once the vehicles in position or an autonomous drone or some other type of robot, will make the delivery.
Also think about how much a human can lift, if lucky, you MIGHT get one that can lift 250 pounds, a robot could lift 1000pounds, robots don't need breaks, as often/they can charge up, while another one replaces them, they don't get paid/need money, they don't get sick, they don't have feelings or rights/its a machine, so basically its easier to deal with, also at some point they will be fixing them selves; Or another bot/robot,will fix/maintain/repair and so on,other robots/EVENTUALLY they will be able to fix them selfs or another bot will aid in repairing them/other robots.
Electricians MIGHT be okay, well, MAYBE for a little while, I mean think about it, how hard is it, to see colors/distinguish green/ground,White/Neutral,Red and black/hot/a camera paired with AI or even just IFTTT and a camera, could handle that, also electricians ALREADY consult machines/voltage meters, to diagnose problems/figure things out/ALL of that could be on a machine/bot and be handled MUCH quickemore efficiently/effectively, with a bot.
Auto mechanics MAY be the next to go, especially if bots, could get in tight places easiesync with the whole cahave a diagnostic reader on board, lift an entire engine/the whole car, on its own/vehicles are already assembled by robots/vehicle manufacturing plants use robots for, painting, welding, assembly, and material handling,ALREADY/An average car has about 30,000 parts. Once those parts are manufactured and brought to the final production line, it takes companie's robots about 18 to 35 hours to produce one mass-market vehicle, from welding to full engine assembly to painting, another example of all of this is Tesla/ to meet Tesla's uncompromising production goals, Musk settled on an equally uncompromising production strategy, full automation, no ifs, ands or buts. The goal was to remove every single human operator and only stop when the facility looked like an alien spaceship, according to musk/these are musks words.
This is a semi comprehensive list of obsolete jobs/fields right now,that are obsolete,eventually everyone will be obsolete though,at least in the sense that a robot can do your job better than you can,from a practical stand point;
Machines/robots/Automation/AI could easily ruine/destroy the economy/push society/people/humans to a moneyless society/to socialism or force people to revert back,or become more self reliant/people would need to raise their own farm animals, grow their own plants/make their own clothes/things/trade may be needed more as well, the honest truth is,all of these companies are putting them selfs out of business as well/they probably think that,if they don't release Chat GPT/a GPT/AI competitor, they will fall behind/become obsolete as a company, but at the same time, NO ONE will have any money to buy services/products,so no one can pay for a subscription and ad revenue won't work, because no one will have money to buy products,so theres no point in advertising, also rich people's money/generational wealth only lasts so long,if its not replenished, also honestly every employee/human hired,is a potential profit/those employees will purchase your products,if not yours, someone elses employee will purchase your products,IF your products are in demand,if there not in demand, you have a bigger problem, than people not having money to buy your products,Machines/AI/Robots don't need your products and these machines also have to be purchased by companie owners/it might sound appealing right now,to spend one minimum wagers yearly earnings on a machine, that can replace all of your hired employees, but EVENTUALLY if everyone's replaced and rich people's/generational wealth runs out,you will no longer be able to sell your products, because no one has money to buy them, obviously eventually it will be all jobs,at least until rich people/business owners realize this and decide humans are the better investment, but heres the list for right now, of jobs that will be going away/jobs that are obsolete.

“Amai!!!!!!!” Satsujin leapt forward and grabbed Amai, hugging and kissing her fondly.
“Where have you been!? I haven’t seen you in days!” He said. “Oh, were you scared without me? Did you miss me? Did you miss big bro Satsu?” He said in a dumb voice as he held the cat in his arms.
“Meow.” Amai responded, staring at Satsujin with half of a metallic face.
“Aw~ Of course you did! But don’t worry, I’m here again and I won’t leave you again.”
While he embraced the cat, everyone else who was just getting off the tram looked at him weirdly.
“Hmm… I never imagined that he would be obsessed with feline creatures.” Youki said.
“Obsessed is putting it lightly.” Sumireko added. “Still, how did she get all the way up Youkai Mountain?”
“Well, cats are known to be mysterious.” Kosuzu said. “But can you tell me who Amai is and why she looks like that?”
“Well it’s a bit of a story, but basically-”
“Shanghai! Shanghai Shanghai!” Shanghai yelled loudly while pointing at Amai, getting the attention of everyone else. Ko was holding her while Gummy listened to what she was saying, confused with whatever she had spouted.
“Ribbit. Ribbit ribbit. Ribbit.” Gummy translated.
“What!?” Ko was surprised. “You’re saying that Amai tried to get us killed after luring us over to Misty Lake so she could nab PB away while they were still deactivated!?” She said.
Ko’s words caused everyone to look at her, then at Amai in shock, while those who weren’t around when Amai temporarily joined the group remained somewhat confused. Satsujin on the other hand was the opposite of everyone.
“What!? No way! Amai would never do something like that!” Satsujin said. “Isn’t that right, Amai?” He asked the cyborg cat.
“Meow.” Amai meowed.
“See? She would never. I bet Shanghai is just jealous because she gets more love than her.” Satsujin accused Shanghai.
“Shanghai!!!” The doll yelled, trying to squirm out of Ko's hands to approach him and the cat. While she yelled, Gummy continued to translate, as Ko translated again for everyone else to hear.
“She says that Amai is evil, that she is not who you think she is, but rather a being who is bound to lead all of us to our doom.” Ko said.
Satsujin was skeptical, but did have some doubts about Amai. Yet before he could say anything, Satsunyan spoke up as a pair of cat ears appeared on top of the spirit’s head.
“Hold on a moment, Satsu~” Satsunyan said. “I speak cat, so maybe I can tell if she’s telling the truth.”
Satsunyan listened to Amai’s meows, nodding along for a bit until finally got everything explained. They looked over at Ko and Shanghai, with a glare that seemed very cat-like.
“Well? What did the cat say?” Ko asked.
“Amai said that Shanghai is clearly jealous of her getting her beloved Satsujin’s attention, leaving none for herself. Amai also said that Shanghai is being rude to her only because she’s a dog person.” Satsunyan said. “How dare you Shanghai, and after everything we did together on our journey.”
“Shanghai!?” Shanghai was immensely shocked with what Amai had said. She noticed how Amai was giving her a look, which infuriated the doll even more as she attempted to jump out of Ko’s hands and attack the cyborg cat with her lance.
“Wah! Hey, no fighting Shanghai! Now’s not the time!” Ko said, trying to handle the raging doll.
“Shanghai Shanghai Shanghai!!!” Shanghai yelled, while Amai looked from where she was as Satsunyan protected her.
“Um… can we all head towards the shrine? I like to see if there’s at least something that could give us a hint on where Haru and the others went.” Kosuzu requested.
… Moriya Shrine was quiet. The grounds were clean and free of anything but stone and concrete. Twin statues of Komainu stood facing each other, with the sacred building by their opposite shoulders. Large rope hung below the rooftop, with a large box that rested on the floor.
The large group looked around and at the building, seeing if there was something that seemed off or unusual; anything that could give them an idea on if Haru or anyone else they knew was here. All they found were the trees that had surrounded the shrine, nothing else was out of place outside the area.
“Did you find anything?” Satsujin asked.
“Nope.” Sumireko said.
“Nothing here.” Cirno said.
“Not that I know of.” Suika said. The rest were either still looking or nodded their heads no.
“Maybe something inside the building?” Satsujin suggested.
“I think Wakasagihime and Kagerou are inside right now looking.” Cirno pointed.
And indeed, inside Wakasagihime and Kagerou were looking around the living area of the shrine. They noticed all the furniture was intact, the walls were clean, and nothing seemed out of place. Save for a large aquarium tank that was cracked open with all the water drained from it.
Satsujin himself was a little wary, noticing how quiet the place was. He checked with Meiling for a moment to see if she could sense any signs of malice intent nearby.
“I don’t sense any qi that sounds harmful, it’s just us. But you’re right, it is weird how quiet it is.” Meiling said.
“It could be a trick, or even some kind of trap.” Satsujin assumed. “Maybe the Moral Gods had set up something knowing that we would be here.”
“You are too worried.” Youki said, stepping into the conversation. “It is fine for a warrior to be weary of their surroundings, but if it is all that one thinks, then they leave no room for other thoughts.” He spoke with wisdom.
Meiling looked at Youki strangely, which was understandable considering the mixed mindset she has regarding the swordsman.
“Hey! I think I found something!” Rumia shouted.
Satsujin, Mary, Sumireko, Cirno, and some of the others came over to Rumia’s position, except for Wakasagihime and Kagerou who were still inside the shrine, checking further down the available hall.
Rumia showed everyone a piece of paper, with a part of the bottom looking to have been torn off. Kosuzu grabbed the paper, quickly recognizing the near-impossible-to-read handwriting.
“This is Haru’s! It’s another entry.” Kosuzu said. “PB, can you-”
PB had already grabbed the paper before Kosuzu could finish, knowing what she was going to ask. A new paper was made as Kosuzu read what it had to say.

May 5th, Year 202X Hour of writing: 5 pm. Soft rain with strong winds. Incoming storm. We’re just back from the expedition. It went as I least expected; pretty fucking wrong.
Yesterday's meeting went well, for the most part. While everyone agreed on keeping everything under control, Aunn refused to come, because she didn't want to leave Akyuu alone after everything she's gone through recently, and that's perfectly understandable. Seiran did agree to come with me out of a desire to explore, so the next day, she and Ringo got everything sorted out on the comms side of things and we went our way into Youkai Mountain.
It took us roughly two hours to get into the base of the mountain, because of some youkai getting in our way, but we were able to go past them without major trouble. There, we found a ropeway, which saved us from the effort to climb the mountain. It was a pretty nice sight. After a while, we got to the peak of the mountain, and thus, arrived at Moriya Shrine.
Surprisingly, it was completely untouched. Both exterior and interior were in an immaculate state, save for a thick layer of dust that covered everything in there. We found a lot of useful things for the survivors, such as canned food, clothes, medicine, a handful of old weapons, and many other things.
At one point, we entered a big room with nothing but a giant water tank with a goldfish in there. We first assumed that this was someone's pet, having been abandoned due to the depraved incident. What we didn't expect, is that it started talking in perfect Japanese from nowhere. Yeah. A talking fish.
Before I could ask anything important, the fish started to insult me and Seiran. Apparently, It knew exactly who we were, and claimed to know a lot about us. It told me I was a drama queen, a liar, a psycho, a stubborn idiot, and many other things. It also said I was only useful because of my dragon heart, and that I would be nothing but a living floor mat without it.
It also told Seiran that she would fail to save Ringo, just how she failed before being sheltered by me, because it was bound to happen. I was shocked at what the fish said, and Seiran was about to explode in anger. She ran forward, trying to destroy the tank, but was sent back by a giant spectral snake that came out of nowhere. The fish laughed, and then called out a whole pack of those snakes to attack us. We tried our best to fight back, but after a tough fight, I realized there was no possible way to win, because of how powerful they were as a unit.
I ended up fleeing the shrine with Seiran in my back, as she carried all the loot we managed to get from it. I had to run for well over an hour until I got back to Eientei. She's doing well, though she seems to have been affected by the fish's words, now being notoriously under the weather with everyone including her partner. I will have to talk down with her about that later.
And as for the shrine, I'm never going back to that place. It was a terrible idea all along. What I was thinking?
…

Kosuzu looked at the last part of the entry, seeing the corrupted text once more. Her mind was once again worried like before, but her thoughts were interrupted by Suika.
“Wait, that’s it?” Suika asked, snatching the paper from Kosuzu. “No information on where they went? No signs of where to go?”
“It’s a journal entry, I don’t think it makes sense to write down directions on where exactly the author went.” Satsujin stated.
“I know that, but we’ve been running around in a circle across Gensokyo by now! The very least they could do is point us in the right direction!” Suika said.
“Maybe there’s something inside the shrine we haven’t checked.” Sumireko said. “I wonder if Kagerou and Wakasagihime found anything.”
The rest looked towards the shrine, with some noticing how they have been in there a bit longer than they should. Amai herself was sitting there, staring right at the shrine.
“Um… What’s taking them?” Suika asked. “Did they get lost or something?”
“I don’t think they would get lost. It’s not like Moriya Shrine is that big of a place.” Sumireko said. “It is strange how they haven’t come out yet. Maybe we should head in and check.”
Just as she said that, Amai darted to the left, running down and away from everyone else. Satsujin noticed her running off and called for her.
“Amai! Where are you going!?” He asked. “We need to go after her!”
Satsujin was just about to pursue the half-robotic feline, but stopped upon sensing something coming from inside the shrine itself. His body went to a halt, turning around to look back over.
Meiling and Youki also sensed something coming from inside the shrine. It wasn’t something that resembled corruption, but it wasn’t anything familiar either.
“Ah…A wolf, and a fish… A strange pair of friends, yet not unusual either.” A voice inside the shrine spoke. Footsteps could be heard, loud and clear, shaking the ground with each step that was taken.
“Oh…Dear.” PB said.
“Um…Guys…Something isn’t right.” Sumireko said, also getting a similar feeling like the others. Everyone readied themselves.
The doors of Moriya Shrine were wide open, as a figure walked out. Bare feet were shown, shining a golden yellow. Muscles were seen, big and toned from the calf of the legs to the pectorals of the chest. The shape of their body was almost godlike to the eyes of many.
They walked out of the building entirely, letting their face be revealed to all the others. Unlike the rest of his body though, his head resembled that of a goldfish. With a pair of big eyes on each side, big fish lips, and even scales which reflect on the sunlight.
In their hands, Kagerou and Wakasagihime were both being held; dragged out by their necks. They looked to have been beaten badly with bruises on their bodies and cuts on their clothes. Some of the members gasped as they saw who it was that seemed obviously to be the culprit of their wounds.
“What did you do to them!?” Meiling asked defensively.
“I just knocked them out. That’s all.” The figure said, dropping the two as he walked forward. “They intruded my resting quarters while I was napping, dreaming about glory and fame.”
“Who are you!?” Meiling asked again.
“And why do you have a fish head!?” Cirno said, asking the bigger questions.
Both her and Meiling rush at the figure with their weapons and their fists. They both striked the foe with might and fury for what happened to their friends. But as the smoke cleared, it was revealed that the figure, taking the full impact of Cirno’s Melon Blade and Meiling’s fist, remained standing perfectly fine.
Then during the small moment of confusion that the two bore towards their opponent, the fish-faced figure grabbed both Cirno and Meiling while also holding the previous two, and threw them both across the shrine grounds with great power! Meiling and Cirno crashed into the pavement, simultaneously being used as cushions for the wolf and the mermaid respectively.
“Meiling! Cirno!” Sumireko shouted. Mary and Satsujin both rush over to their friends, helping them up while checking to see if they sustained any major wounds.
Meanwhile, the figure hummed, looking around to see what he was presented with. He saw the majority looking human, but could tell that most of them were more than that. But upon laying eyes on PB, he smiled greatly.
“Ah, Peanut Butter. It’s been a while.” He spoke. “Last I saw you was back on Omnious, when my brother and I were this close to achieving our conquest.”
“...How?” PB asked carefully. “How did you return?”
“Wait, you know him?” Sumireko asked PB.
“I do.” PB answered. “He is a very powerful foe, known by his title as ‘The Omnipotent One’. A man who once tried to wipe out all three of the Mortal Realms after he and his brother agreed that the actions of the individual would lead to the downfall of all that is living.”
The Omnipotent One chuckled from PB’s statement about him. “That’s what mere mortals like to refer to me as. But for now, you may call me Simon.”
“Simon…Wait a second.” Sumireko thought for a moment. “Didn’t Sanae have a pet goldfish named Simon?”
“Correct naive child.” Simon said. “It is true, I once was kept as a mere pet fish by her and those two goddesses she claims are her ‘parents’.” He said while raising his hands to make quotation marks. “Before all of that though, I was a triumphant God; born and raised in the land of Omnious alongside many of my fellow deities.”
“But you were killed, we were there, Alena and I. You were supposed to be dead.” PB said in a more serious tone.
“Ah…But that’s the thing, Peanut Butter. I am a god, always have, always will.” Simon exclaimed. “I was reborn into the form of a man; grew up in a normal household and raised by two adults who believed in what was best for me. I was fortunate to have retained my memories and knowledge. In the following years I managed to position myself in a title of power and wealth, enjoying my days of careless wonder. Then one day, I was introduced to a man with both religious and political power, offering a unique kind of deal that anyone would accept in a heartbeat. There, I was engaged to a girl named Sanae Kochiya.”
“I could already tell that they were using her as an excuse to get more followers to their weakening cult, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have a person who I could use to my liking. So I decide to torture her; bringing home various bugs and creatures and watch her squirm all over the room while begging for it to stop. It reminded me of back home when we would take mortal men and throw them into the colosseum with lions, tigers, and bears.”
“Oh my.” Suika spouted suddenly, covering her mouth afterwards with her hands.
“Oh my indeed.” Simon said. “But alas, the fun didn’t last forever. There came a day when one of the creatures I brought got too close to her, one that contained a deadly poison in its fangs, and bit her…I was disappointed to watch her be taken down like that, especially since it was clear she had the blood of a god residing in her. But what I didn’t know was that I had accidentally angered an ancient god in the process. Thus, my form was reverted to that of a fish. A goldfish to be more specific.”
“And for years I was treated with harsh verbal tongue from both the Goddess of Wind and Rain and the Goddess of Mountains. They even managed to bring back that girl Sanae using a forbidden soul transfer ritual, turning her from a sad girl with mental trauma into the most happy-go-lucky kid I ever seen…Heh…Hahaha…Hahahahahahaha!” Simon started to laugh all of a sudden, making everyone else all the more confused on the matter as his laughter turned hysterical.
“HAHAHAHAHA!!! And all those years I had waited! Waited for the day that I would return to my full strength! Waited for when the stars would align, the planets in their right positions, the time being exactly right. Waited I did, and a reward I had received. With the thanks of a bolt of corrupted lighting I regained my power, and learned how to control the mishaguji that the ancient goddess left behind; the very beings who had given me that weak body to begin with!” He said, as a flurry of white snake-like beings manifested around Simon, waving like flames behind his back while looking down at everyone.
Simon gripped his hands tightly, flexing his arms to show his strength. “And with this new body, granted to me with the help of the powers of Hakurei, I now have a form to match my immense strength!”
“Hakurei? What do you mean?” PB asked, right as Simon decided to approach them with a bit of an unhinged look in their eyes.
“Don’t you get it? This was all planned from the very beginning! All of it!!! From the moment you all stepped onto that tram to move up the mountain you were already destined to meet me. And now you shall face me!” Simon said.
That was when it finally hit them. Sumireko and PB were the first to realize the situation that was put upon them: This was a trap no doubt, a very serious trap.
“We need to leave!!!” PB said as they went and allowed Sumireko to equip them to provide her extra power to evacuate. She dashed the opposite direction of where Simon stood, with PB yelling at everyone else to follow their lead as they knew staying any longer would only bring impending doom.
They ran down the shrine grounds as quickly as they could, but only for a few seconds before they collided with a barrier.
“Owie…” Sumireko checked to see if her face was okay. “A barrier?”
She pressed on it, the air felt like a solid surface. The others stopped as they approached, noticing they were now sealed in. Satsujin tried to phase through, but alas the moment he tried to push his arms through he was pushed back with a jolt of electricity. Suika made an attempt to convert her body into mist, but even in that form she was not able to pass through.
“This is like when we were at Hakurei Shrine.” Sumireko thought. “Then that would mean…”
She looked out the brand-new barrier, and saw Yuzuki with her hands out, and Demise standing alongside her.
“Ah, we meet again.” Demise said to the group. “I see you all met Simon? He’s a great fellow, knows his stuff well.”
“YOU!!!” Mary screamed, attempting to pierce through the barrier with her daggers. “Why the fuck is it always you everytime we go anywhere!?”
“Aw, I missed you too dear… A shame this may be our last meeting together.” Demise said. “But to the rest of you, best of luck.”
“What the hell do you mean our last meeting together!?” Mary asked, but Demise did not answer, making her more furious. “Hey… Hey! Answer me you prick! Get over here and let me carve you into a hollow corpse!”
The group looked back, seeing Simon standing there with a big fish-lipped smile on his face. He didn’t approach the group yet, almost seemingly waiting for them to come to him first.
“Ah…It’s been a while since I have been able to fight someone. This will be a good warmup.” He said, rolling his arms around as a large pair of blades fell from nowhere whilst he pulled them out from the ground. “Now… Which of you will be the first of my victims?”

2023.06.08 02:41 lechatheureux The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 3 (The Kingdoms of Tsaparang, Taishigang and Khotesh)
Please check part 1 and 2 for context.
The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 1 (Overview and The Gods) : worldbuilding (reddit.com) The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 2 (The Kingdoms of Jangshun and Monyul) : worldbuilding (reddit.com) Tsaparang Tsaparang is a Kingdom to the east of the other Tonpa Kingdoms, it is marked by thick jungles and winding rivers, a small number of mountains dot the landscape to the west, on the border with Jangshun and Monyul.
The jungles of Tsaparang are known for their dense vegetation and towering trees, with rivers that cut through the landscape and create a network of waterways. The jungle clearings are dotted with small villages, where the people of Tsaparang live and work in harmony with nature.
The people of Tsaparang have learned to live with the challenges of the jungle environment, including the risk of flooding during the rainy season and the dangers posed by wild animals. Despite these challenges, the jungle provides a wealth of resources for the people, including medicinal plants, exotic fruits, and valuable timber. The villagers have developed their own unique way of life, with a deep respect for the natural world and a strong sense of community. They work together to maintain their homes and farms, and to protect the jungle from outsiders who might seek to exploit its resources.
The kingdom of Tsaparang was founded by a legendary warrior king named Raja Dhananj, who converted to Tonpa and united several smaller kingdoms in the area left over from the Indraprastha Empire under his rule, he named it after a fortress city on the border of Monyul that was essential to his victory, he eventually built a grand capital city on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, which he named after himself – Dhananjpur.
The city is a bustling center of trade and commerce, and soon became known throughout the region for its wealth and prosperity. Over time, Dhananjpur grew into a magnificent city, with grand palaces, beautiful temples, and bustling markets, the most famous of which is the floating markets called Jalbazaar.
Jalbazaar is situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, which flows through the heart of the district. The district is famous for its bustling waterways, where vendors sell their wares from boats and barges that are moored along the riverbank. The floating markets of Jalbazaar are a riot of color and activity, with vendors hawking their wares to eager customers. The markets sell everything from fresh produce and seafood to handicrafts and textiles. The markets are busiest in the early morning, when fishermen bring in their catch from the river and vendors begin setting up their stalls. The air is filled with the smells of spices, cooking food, and fresh flowers, creating a heady atmosphere that is unique to Jalbazaar. Visitors to the floating markets can sample a wide variety of local delicacies, including steaming bowls of spicy fish curry, crispy fritters made from lentils and vegetables, and sweet desserts made from coconut and mango.
To the west of Dannajpur lies the village of Pashupati, the village sits on the edge of a dense jungle, its thatched-roof houses built on stilts to protect them from flooding during the monsoon season. At the center of the village is an ancient temple dedicated to the Dharmist God Pashupati, said to have been built by a powerful Thakur long ago. However, the temple has fallen into disrepair over the centuries, and now it is overrun with large cats, both tame and wild. The villagers believe that the cats are the guardians of the temple, and they feed and care for them as best they can. Some of the cats are even considered sacred, and are allowed to roam freely throughout the village. Despite the presence of the cats and the fact that the villagers abandoned Dharmism for Tonpa over a hundred years ago, the temple is still an important place of for the villagers, the temple's crumbling walls are adorned with faded murals depicting scenes from ancient legends and there is a sense of mystery and magic that pervades the place. Outsiders aren't rare in the village as it sits along an important road between two cities, but the villagers are wary of strangers who do not respect the cats, the temple or their ancient ways. However, they are hospitable and generous to those who show the cats respect and kindness.
The second most populous city in Tsaparang is called Serindia, it is nestled in the heart of a lush green valley, surrounded by towering cliffs on all sides, this small community has long been known for its bustling markets and vibrant culture. At the center of town, stands a magnificent castle, home to the ruling family of Serindia. Built from the finest stone and marble, the castle boasts towering walls and a grand hall where the noble lords and ladies of the land convene to discuss matters of great importance. But it's not just the castle that makes Serindia special. Just outside of town lies a sprawling grove of wild mango trees, known throughout the region for their delicious, juicy fruit. Every year, travelers from far and wide come to Serindia to sample the famous mangoes and to attend the lively festivals that celebrate the town's bountiful harvest.
The Company of the Wind have a large office in Serendia as every year people request them to deliver these magnificent mangoes so often.
As you wander the winding streets of Serindia, you'll encounter a diverse array of merchants and craftsmen, each offering unique wares and trades. You might stop by the blacksmith's shop to watch as he expertly hammers out a new sword, or perhaps you'll visit the town's resident healer, who is renowned for her ability to cure all manner of ailments.

The soldiers of the Jungle Snakes are expert fighters, they train in their own unique martial art which requires them to train in the use of whip-swords, a sword made with a flexible whip like blade, although relatively useless in a large scale battle these swords are deadly in one-on-one fights and it is believed training with them develops agility and hand eye coordination. The Jungle Snakes is made up of elite soldiers who are chosen for their physical strength, agility, and quick reflexes, they are fiercely loyal to their kingdom and their commanders, and are known for their bravery and determination in battle. Their unique weapon and fighting style make them a formidable opponent, and they are feared and respected by enemies and allies alike.
Tashigang Nestled deep within a treacherous and barely hospitable mountain range lies the kingdom of Taishigang, protected by rugged terrain and guarded by fiercely loyal soldiers. The people of this kingdom are rugged and tough, accustomed to the harsh conditions of their environment and deeply connected to the land that sustains them.
The tallest mountain in the known world is nestled within its borders, it is a revered holy site believed to be the last place on Earth the physical forms of the Three Gods were seen.
Taishigang is named after the two main ethnic groups that reside in the area, the Taishi and the Gangparan, occupying the north-west and the south-east respectively, the Taishi are said to be early cousins of the Jangshun people who migrated into the area hundreds of years before and the Gangparan are a group of people who escaped from the fall of the Indraprastha empire by migrating to the mountains. The kingdom is ruled by a council of clan leaders, with one among them being High Chief and first among equals, these leaders are chosen by their clans for their strength, cunning, and wisdom and in turn these leaders choose one among them to be High Chief, these leaders make decisions that affect the entire kingdom, and they are known for their fierce loyalty to the land and the people. The economy of the kingdom is based on mining and lumber, with the rugged landscape yielding valuable minerals and timber. The inhabitants of the kingdom work as miners and lumberjacks, extracting these resources from the earth and using them to build their homes and defenses.
Taishigang is home to a religious order of healers called “The Order of Spring” who are a a highly respected group of monks, the members of this order are known for their extensive knowledge of herbal medicine and natural remedies, as well as their spiritual practices that are believed to aid in the healing process. The Order of Spring has a long-standing tradition of passing down their healing techniques and knowledge from generation to generation, ensuring that their skills and expertise are not lost over time they are highly revered by the people of Taishigang, who often seek their help when they are sick or injured. Due to the harsh climate and rugged terrain of Taishigang, the Order of Spring has developed unique healing methods that are tailored to the specific challenges of the environment. They are experts in treating frostbite, hypothermia, altitude sickness, and other ailments that are common in cold, mountainous regions.
The members of the Order of Spring are dedicated to their craft and often travel far and wide in search of rare and unique ingredients to use in their remedies. They are known to journey deep into the mountain ranges and even venture into neighboring kingdoms to track down plants and herbs that are believed to hold powerful healing properties. Despite their extensive knowledge and skills, the healers of the Order of Spring are humble and compassionate. They offer their services to anyone in need, regardless of their social status or wealth. It is said that their selfless dedication to healing has helped to foster a strong sense of community and trust within the kingdom of Taishigang. The capital city of Taishigang is called Dzonggar, which means "fortress on the mountain" in the ancient language of the region. It is situated on a massive mountain peak that is over 4,000 meters high, with steep cliffs and a treacherous climb to reach the top. The city is built on multiple levels that follow the contours of the mountain, with each level connected by steep staircases and winding paths. The uppermost level of Dzonggar is the highest point in the city and is home to the Dragar Dzong, which serves as the administrative center for the region.
The Dzong is an imposing fortress with thick walls, ornate carvings, and intricate murals depicting scenes from Tonpa mythology. The upper level is also home to several important temples and monasteries that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. As one descends the mountain, the levels become more densely populated with homes and businesses. The middle levels of the city are home to bustling marketplaces, where merchants sell everything from spices to textiles to pottery. The lower levels of the city are home to workshops and industry, where artisans create beautiful handicrafts using traditional techniques. The city's buildings are made of stone and wood, with sloping roofs to withstand heavy snowfall. The streets are narrow and winding, with small shops and homes perched on the edge of the mountain. Each level of the city is connected by steep staircases and winding paths, making navigation through the city a challenging but rewarding experience. Despite its rugged location and challenging terrain, Dzonggar is a bustling city with a vibrant culture.
The people of Dzonggar are known for their colorful textiles, intricate woodcarvings, and exquisite metalwork. The city is also famous for its festivals, which are held throughout the year to celebrate the changing seasons, important religious holidays, and the city's rich cultural heritage. The military of the kingdom is composed of skilled rangers and guerilla warriors, trained to navigate the treacherous mountain terrain and to use it to their advantage. The rangers are experts in archery and hunting, the most famous regiment from Taishigang is called The Mountain Demons.
The Mountain Demons are an elite fighting force said to be established by the Lhakpa dynasty, the Mountain Demons only take the tallest of warriors some are said to reach up to 2 meters high, when one is chosen they go on a diet of carbs and protein to gain body mass, their training regiment consists of lifting heavy things and running long distances carrying heavy boulders, in battle they carry massive heavy weapons like hammers, clubs and sometimes even heavy metal gloves. Taishigang is home to the famous Druk-Lha Tsham, the Dragon-Tooth Forest, an expansive woodland that stretches across the western part of the Kingdom. The forest is named after the imposing mountain range that rises up from the trees like the teeth of a dragon.
The forest is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including towering pine trees, colorful wildflowers, and a variety of wildlife such as deer, foxes, and even the occasional black bear, streams and rivers flow through the forest in the summer, providing water for the plants and animals that call it home. Despite its natural beauty, the Dragon-Tooth Forest is also home to danger. Bandits and outlaws are known to hide within its depths, preying on travelers who venture too far from the safety of the nearby villages.
The forest is home to the village of Kulik a unique place where the houses are built high among the trees, the villagers live in beautiful treehouses connected by a network of wooden bridges that wind their way through the forest. The houses are made from local wood and are decorated with carvings of animals and intricate patterns. Some houses have balconies where the villagers can sit and enjoy the beautiful views of the forest.
The village has a central meeting place where the villagers gather to socialize and discuss village matters, the meeting place is just outside the only stone building in the village, the Lalimamandir, said to be a stone temple dedicated to the Dharmist God Lalima but repurposed into the home of the ruling Gurung Clan, the Gurung, saw similarities between Lalima and Caihong, who after a lengthy purification process instead dedicated the building to The Mother but kept the original name to honour the builders. The villagers are self-sufficient and grow their own food in small gardens and farms scattered throughout the forest. They also hunt and fish in the nearby rivers and streams. The villagers are known for their hospitality and welcome visitors with open arms, inviting them to stay in their beautiful treehouses and share in their way of life.
The people of the kingdom of Taishigang hold a special reverence for Caihong for it is her practical ways that help them survive the rugged terrain. The people of the kingdom have a rich artistic and musical tradition, heavily influenced by their connection to the land and the animals. They are known for their intricate carvings, woven textiles, and colorful paintings, as well as their haunting music and dance.
Khotesh Khotesh is a kingdom to the west, most of it is located in a vast and arid desert, with small portion of the Kingdom located on grassy planes and snow-capped mountains. The kingdom is known for its rugged terrain, with towering sand dunes, rocky outcroppings, and deep canyons. Most of its people are former nomads who converted to the religion of Tonpa and settled in one place, but there are still some nomadic people who travel with their herds across the desert. The people of Khotesh practice religion fervently, with Tonpa's teachings serving as the foundation for their daily lives. Their art and architecture reflect the influence of the Three Gods, with intricate carvings and paintings of Tonpa and his disciples adorning the walls of many buildings in the kingdom. The kingdom is ruled by a powerful monarch who resides in a grand palace in the capital city of Khanbalik. The palace is a majestic structure with domed roofs and intricate carvings, surrounded by lush gardens and fountains. Despite the harshness of the environment, the people of Khotesh have a rich cultural heritage. They are proud of their nomadic roots, and many still wear traditional clothing and practice traditional customs. The former nomads who settled in one place have formed close-knit communities, and their hospitality to travelers is legendary. Its capital city; Khanbalik is a built upon the grassy plains of the hills to the east of the Kingdom. The city is situated at the junction of several trade routes, which has made it a hub of commerce and culture. Its walls are made of wood and earth, with watchtowers at regular intervals to provide defense against raiders and invaders. The city is known for its harsh and unpredictable climate, with hot winds blowing in from the desert and cold winds descending from the mountains. These winds collide over Khanbalik, creating powerful storms that batter the city every autumn and spring. The storms bring heavy rains, lightning, and hail, making travel and trade difficult during these seasons, it is said that the sun-showers that regularly bathe the city in this time are a meeting of the Three Gods as the Sun, Wind and Rain are all aspects of Caihong, Druk-Ta and Daiden respectively, people often dance in the streets when a sun-shower happens. Despite the challenges posed by the climate, Khanbalik remains a vibrant and bustling city. The streets are crowded with people from all walks of life, from wealthy merchants to wandering nomads. The city is divided into districts based on trade and social status, with the grandest buildings located near the center of the city. The palace of the ruling Khan is one of the most impressive structures in Khanbalik, with ornate wooden carvings and sweeping roofs that curve upward like the wings of a bird. The temple district is also a popular destination for visitors to the city, with a variety of religions represented in the many shrines and sanctuaries.
Khanbalik is not only a bustling hub of commerce and culture, but it is also a melting pot of different ethnic groups and cultures. One of the unique features of Khanbalik is the seasonal influx of nomads who come to the city a few times a year during the changing of the seasons. As the seasons shift from summer to autumn and from winter to spring, nomadic herders from the surrounding grasslands and mountains make their way to Khanbalik to trade goods, socialize, and partake in the city's offerings. The changing of the seasons is a time of celebration and renewal, and the nomads play an important role in this cycle. During the autumn season, nomads bring with them fresh produce such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. They also bring livestock such as sheep, goats, and horses to sell in the city's markets. In turn, they purchase items such as tools, clothing, and other necessities that they cannot produce on their own. In the spring, nomads return to Khanbalik with wool, meat, and dairy products from their herds. They also bring with them handmade crafts such as felt blankets, rugs, and clothing, which they trade for goods that will sustain them throughout the summer months. The seasonal exchange between the nomads and the city-dwellers is an important part of the culture and economy of Khanbalik. It fosters a sense of community and interdependence between the different groups, and it has been a tradition for generations.
One of the most interesting places in Khotesh is the town of Rokhala, a town carved into a towering sandstone cliff that rises high above the surrounding plains, the town's location is strategic, as it is nestled in a valley along a popular trade route, making it a profitable place for a settlement, the entrance to the town is a narrow, winding path that cuts into the cliff face, providing a natural defense against invaders. The town is built in a series of caves and carved out of sandstone, with buildings made from the same material, the structures are connected by narrow walkways, staircases, and bridges that cross over the canyon below. The town has a unique charm with its rustic stone architecture and winding passageways that twist and turn, creating an intriguing labyrinth of alleys and streets. The town has a diverse population, including traders, craftsmen, and mushroom farmers who make use of shallow caves to grow them in.
The town is home to a massive sandstone mining operation that exports sandstone all over the known world, sandstone from Rokhala is seen in the Confucian Kingdoms to the East, the Dharmist Kingdoms to the South and even the Caliphist and Mazdan Kingdoms to the West. Another interesting sight in the deserts of Khotesh is Altan Gazar, a bustling caravan that travels in harmony with the seasonal migration of a massive herd of Ibex, tents and yurts, woven from the finest camel and goat hair, are packed up and loaded onto sturdy pack animals as the city prepares to move to its next destination, the inhabitants are skilled in the art of packing and unpacking, swiftly transforming their temporary dwellings into a well-organized mobile settlement. As the herd of Ibex moves across the arid landscape, guided by the keen eyes of the city's inhabitants, the nomadic city follows in its wake, the city's layout is flexible and adaptable, with a central encampment for the tribal leader and their entourage, surrounded by the dwellings of other important individuals and their families. Water is a precious commodity in the desert, and the city relies on natural springs and wells discovered along the migration route, the inhabitants are experts in locating and utilizing these hidden water sources, carefully managing their usage to sustain their community and animals throughout their journey, rainwater is also collected during rare showers and stored in large containers for times when water is scarce.
The Ibex is an integral part of life to Altan Gazar, most adults carry a drinking horn made of Ibex horn, Ibex meat is regularly consumed in the spring with various spices found in the semi-arid grassy plains of their spring migration pattern, Ibex blood is sometimes drunk when water is scarce, fermented Ibex milk is a regular drink among the adults and Ibex skins are worn during cold winter nights. The city's architecture is designed to be lightweight and portable, with structures made of woven mats, reeds, and mud bricks. The city's inhabitants are skilled in constructing and deconstructing their homes as they move, utilizing locally available materials. Life in the nomadic city is intertwined with the rhythm of the desert and the migratory patterns of the Ibex. The inhabitants have a deep bond with their animals, particularly camels, which are used for transportation, milk, and meat. The city is a hub of trade and commerce, with merchants and traders from nearby towns and villages joining the city's journey, bartering for goods and services along the way.
The army of Khotesh is renowned for its hardiness and combat prowess in desert conditions. The kingdom has a long history of fending off invasions and raids from neighboring regions, and its army is specifically trained to operate effectively in desert terrain. The soldiers of Khotesh are known for their ruggedness and resilience, with many of them hailing from nomadic backgrounds. They are skilled in mounted combat, with cavalry units comprising a significant portion of the army. These cavalry units are particularly adept at hit-and-run tactics, using their speed and mobility to strike quickly and then retreat before the enemy can respond.
In addition to cavalry, the army of Khotesh also includes infantry units that specialize in desert warfare. These soldiers are trained to navigate harsh terrain and extreme temperatures, and they are equipped with light armor and weapons that are well-suited for the desert environment. They are skilled in using terrain to their advantage, and are adept at setting ambushes and launching surprise attacks. One of the unique features of the Khotesh army is their use of desert animals in combat. The kingdom is home to a variety of animals that have been domesticated and trained for military purposes, including camels and falcons. Camels are particularly useful in desert warfare due to their ability to traverse long distances with little water, and they are often used to transport soldiers and supplies across the harsh desert terrain. Falcons, on the other hand, are used for scouting and reconnaissance, and are trained to locate and track enemy troops.
The most famous army regiment of Khotesh is called The Scorpions, they are renowned desert survivalists and lone assassins, but in times of battle they are called upon to form a vanguard for the ruling Khan or Khanum, alone they are formidable but as a unit they are immensely dangerous, they are expert hand to hand combatants and excel at short, light weapons like shortswords and javelins. Another famed regiment of Khotesh is called The Hailstones, they are a Camel cavalry unit who use shock cavalry tactics, their camels have two riders, a spearman on the front and an archer on the back, the camels are bred to be massive to carry out such a feat, the spearman on the front charges into infantry lines with the spear and then turns away from the enemy to line up another charge while the archer on the back fires into their ranks, it is a very effective tactic that has won many battles.

2023.06.08 01:47 Ammja In the Shadows, a Spark: A Character Short Story
Hey Folks, I was so excited about my new character in Blades in the Dark that I decided to write a short story about a significant moment from their past.
This story is about a group of young adults that formed a Shadow crew and use a derelict carnival in Six Towers as a base of operations. My character, Marasi is the sibling of another player character named Legosi. They have been through some hard times together.
My hope with this story is to describe details about my character's personalities and idiosyncrasies without writing an entire backstory. It was a super fun exercise and I feel much closer to Marasi.
I hope that you enjoy it.
After you've read it, I'd love your thoughts and feedback.
- What playbook do you think Marasi is?
- What Vice do you think she has?
- How old do you think she is?
---
In the Shadows, a Spark
"We are the voices of hope for those who dwell in the shadows, the guiding light amid the abyss. Our hands, veiled and unseen, reach out to those in need, offering solace, compassion, and assistance. For in this city of perpetual darkness, it is our faith and acts of philanthropy that ignite sparks of hope." Mother Narva spoke from the pulpit as her eyes swept across the congregation, connecting with each veiled parishioner.
"And as we leave this sanctuary, let the veil we wear be a symbol of our commitment—a shield protecting our intentions and preserving the sanctity of our service. For we are not here to be seen, but to be the unseen hand that lifts the fallen, mends the broken, and whispers hope to the hopeless."
Marasi looked down at her young hands concealed in black gloves as she listened, letting Mother Narva’s words sink in.
After the service was over, Marasi stepped past the crowd congregating outside the House of the Weeping Lady, removing her own black veil as she started to walk home. In the streets of the Six Towers district, the darkness surrounded her. It was not like the Nightmarket where wealth and commerce can provide sparkwork streetlamps at all times. But Marasi preferred it here in the darkness.
“Marasi! Marasi Wharver?” said a voice as it ran to catch up with her. “Marasi, I’m glad I caught you.” Before Marasi turned, she knew it was Sister Isabella coming to check in on her.
“How are you and your sibling doing? Do you need anything?” Sister Isabella asked.
“We’re fine. Thank you for all that you have done already.”
“And the others? Are you all settling in ok?”
“We all feel at home, sister. You have given us hope.” Marasi said without emotion.
“I’m so happy to hear that. I was worried about ones young as you on your own in the dark. You will let me know if you need anything ok?”
“Ok,” Marasi promised.
After a few silent moments, Sister Isabella said, “In the darkness, we find solace.”
“In service, we find purpose.” Marasi finished the proverb and continued walking home.
—
Marasi walked briskly through the desolate and decaying streets of the Six Towers District, her eyes scanning the shadows and her senses alert. In the darkness, the city's secrets thrived, and Marasi was no stranger to navigating its treacherous paths.
Turning down Tailor’s Road, Marasi stopped at the top of the small bridge over the Clearwater Canal. From here she could see the silhouette of the leaning Ferris wheel backlit by the sparkwork lights from Nightmarket across the channel.
As she continued down Tailor’s Road, the carnival's dilapidated grandeur came into view. Once a place of joy and amusement, it now stood as a reminder of forgotten dreams. The skeletal frame of the Ferris wheel loomed on the docks, its rusted metal creaking in the wind.
Marasi's footsteps grew softer as she approached the entrance to the carnival. She glanced around, ensuring no prying eyes were watching. With a practiced ease, she slipped into the shadows, past a broken sign on the ground that read “The Whimsy Wharf”.
—
Back in her tent, Marasi sat in front of a dimly reflective mirror, brushing her long wavy blonde hair, a symbol of her Skovlander heritage.
“Cricket!” Theo burst into the room, urgency in his voice.
“What?” Marasi said as she spun around half surprised, half threatening.
“Legs… something’s happened to Legs!” Theo exclaimed, worry etched on his face.
Marasi threw down the brush and rushed out of the room. With speed, she was in Legosi’s makeshift carnival tent.
“Ghosts take me! What happened?” She screamed as she saw her sibling laying on the floor clutching a stump where their arm should be, blood pouring from between the fingers of their other hand.
"Legosi's arm is gone... there was an explosion," Theo explained as he reached the door behind her and saw the sight of blood and shrapnel splattered all over the tent and the workbench.
“Be of some use! Go find Rivan. Tell them to bring medicine.” Marasi barked orders at Theo, “Quickly!”
She turned to Legosi, “I’ve got you, sib,” she murmured, her voice a mix of tenderness and strength, as she leaned down to support her sibling.
—
Marasi sat at the edge of the bed within her sibling’s humble tent, her eyes fixed on Legosi's pale face. The wounds had been tended to, but their weakened state still stirred deep worry within her. She gently brushed a blonde strand of hair away from Legosi's forehead, her touch a mixture of tenderness and determination.
"You're going to be alright, Sib," Marasi whispered, her voice carrying both comfort and a steely resolve. "I won't let anything happen to you again."
Legosi stirred, their eyelids fluttering as they slowly regained consciousness. Marasi's worry transformed into a glimmer of relief, but her eyes still held traces of confusion. She needed answers.
"Sib, can you hear me?" Marasi asked, her voice tinged with concern. "What happened? How did this happen?"
Legosi's gaze met Marasi's, their eyes reflecting a mixture of pain and confusion. They struggled to find words, the events that led to their injury were still a jumbled mess in their mind.
"I... I was working on something... something strange," Legosi managed to say, their voice weak but determined. "It... it exploded. I don't understand what went wrong."
Marasi's brow furrowed, her mind racing with thoughts and possibilities. She knew Legosi's curiosity often led them down unconventional paths, but this incident had left her with a lingering unease.
"We'll figure it out, Sib," Marasi said her voice firm with resolve. "Don’t worry about your arm right now. I’ll help you with anything you need."
Legosi slowly lifted their good arm to point at a box of mechanical parts they had gathered from around the carnival. “I’m going to need another mini sparkwork generator if I’m going to build myself a new arm.”
“Ok,” Marasi said hesitantly, standing and walking to the door. “Whatever you need.”
“Thank you, sis.”
Marasi stopped at the door of the tent. She looked down at the box of scrap Legosi had gathered. A large metal shark head with a hinged jaw stuck out of the box.
“Is that from the Gnashing Gauntlet Game?” she asked.
“Yea,” Legosi answered, not wanting to give her more details to worry about.
Marasi shook her head disapprovingly as she left the tent, realizing Legosi’s plan.
As she entered the darkness of the carnival outside, Marasi couldn’t shake the idea that this explosion was no accident, her mind mapping out the steps needed to uncover the truth. If this was a message, she would be sure to send one back.

2023.06.08 01:14 DefiantAbalone1 Study: Personality traits & Wealth accumulation
study synopsis:
https://www.psypost.org/2023/06/new-psychology-research-pinpoints-personality-factors-related-to-wealth-accumulation-164440 Cliff notes for the most influential of the big 5 traits:
"Conscientiousness appears to play a crucial role in money management and wealth accumulation, according to new psychology research published in Financial Planning Review. The findings provide evidence that individuals who are more diligent, organized, and hardworking tend to have higher levels of wealth, even after accounting for education and other factors."
On the other hand, neuroticism was negatively related to wealth, suggesting that individuals with higher levels of emotional volatility and anxiety tended to have lower levels of wealth. The data also suggested that neuroticism was negatively associated with work success, a major source of income. The unstable nature of neurotic individuals may hinder their ability to manage wealth effectively.
The study also found that extraversion had a modest but significant correlation with income. However, when it came to wealth, extraversion showed a modest but significant inverse relationship with savings and investments, but a positive relationship with wealth held in physical items. This finding suggests that extraverts may be more impulsive in their spending and make poor investment decisions."
*Glossary- what does conscientiousness mean in psychology?
"Conscientiousness is the personality trait of being careful, or diligent. Conscientiousness implies a desire to do a task well, and to take obligations to others seriously. Conscientious people tend to be efficient and organized as opposed to easy-going and disorderly."
What is neuroticism?
"individuals with high scores for neuroticism are more likely than average to be moody and to experience such feelings as anxiety, worry, fear, anger, frustration, envy, jealousy, pessimism, guilt, depressed mood, and loneliness"*

0. The Cosmic Judge and the Delivery Man
Thomas Morell, stepped through the transit gate with a yawn, cradling an oversized GUPS box in his arms. The large box impeded most of his view, but as the transit gate snapped shut behind him, Thomas noted that something was clearly amiss with his destination.
Looking down, he saw that his boots were buried in black ashes. The air tasted stale and dusty. Thomas lowered the box slightly and saw that he was standing amidst desolate ruination, a landscape ravaged by an unknowable cataclysm that had devastated planet Sintash.
"Well," he muttered with airy enthusiasm rivaled only by the charisma of a drying doormat. "This is just peachy."
Like a protagonist in search of plot, Thomas slowly meandered over to a charred, half-incinerated wall which, upon close inspection, yielded the faint inscription of "12/5 Stafford Street."
Obeying the bureaucracy of his vocation, functioning mostly on autopilot mode Thomas situated the cardboard box amid the pile of blackened ashes. As if that wasn't enough, he lovingly placed it adjacent to a wide-open hole that bore an uncanny resemblance to a doorway completely devoid of a door. Satisfied at last, Thomas captured a photograph of the tragically uninspired arrangement with his wrist bracelet device.
"Package confirmed at delivery location," the omnipresent voice of his wrist companion chimed with far too much cheerfulness which seemed completely out of place in the currently apocalyptic circumstances.
Thomas exhaled tiredly as he stood amidst the debris of cities, oceans, trees, and, indeed, the now vaporized dreams of the former denizens of Sintash, all reduced to elemental carbon. His shoulders slumped. He was there simply to deliver the package and not to ask questions, he reminded himself. Whatever happened here was far too big for him to deal with. He would have to file a report about this issue when he got back and someone more important would have to deal with this mess.
“Please obtain the signature of the recipient,” the bracelet on the delivery man's wrist suddenly chimed with a feminine voice.
“Recipient is not available,” Thomas deadpanned.
“Have you tried knocking?” The merry voice of the bracelet prodded him on.
“There’s no door to knock on,” Thomas replied. “Lizz, I’m pretty sure that everyone on Sintash is dead.”
“Please knock on the door and attempt to acquire a signature,” his robotic companion insisted.
Thomas rolled his eyes, stepped through the ashes and knocked on the blackened wall. The wall wobbled ever so slightly and careened forward. Thomas jumped back just as the last remaining wall of 12/5 Stafford Street fell and shattered into dust and cracked bricks.
“There’s nobody home,” Thomas insisted. “On account that everyone on the bloody planet is bloody dead! Portal me back, you stupid AI, I'm not getting paid overtime for this shit.”
“Please remain calm,” Lizz recommended. “Allow the recipient some time to approach the door.”
A 5 minute timer flashed on the delivery man’s bracelet with an animated picture of an old person walking down a stairwell.
Thomas gritted his teeth. The way Lizz was acting was entirely his fault. Normally the AI system was highly intelligent and understood emergency situations like this, but he had used her to pass the boredom in the exactly the wrong sort of ways which was frowned upon by the Good Directorate corporation. His repeated advances and numerous attempts to go around the AI’s censorship filter had kicked the filter to the highest possible setting which in turn made Lizz stupider than a potato.
Thomas sat down on the ash covered steps and stared at the desolate landscape waiting for the timer to clear.
He spotted something ambling in the distance towards him, which made him exceptionally nervous as it approached.
The thing ambling towards Thomas could be best described as a stick figure, an impossible, vaguely person-like thing that was decidedly not human.
“Emergency situation!” Thomas yelled into the bracelet. “Gate out!”
“Please allow the recipient some time to approach the door. A signature is required for this package,” Lizz said, ignoring the rising panic in the delivery man’s voice.
At that moment, Thomas regretted using the "emergency situation" routine to portal to the Skeleton Coast of Africa for his lunch breaks.
“Fuck my life,” Thomas hissed as the freaky stick figure drew closer to him. It didn’t have a face or a head. A thin, two-dimensional pyramidal structure sat atop of the two dimensional neck. It wobbled and folded into itself akin to an infinite fractal. It had three legs, moved more like a spider and an indeterminate number of whip-like, flickering arms.
“Please do not swear,” Lizz commented. "Your behavior is unfitting that of a Good employee."
Thomas had nothing on him, nothing in the pockets of his GUPS uniform except for a pad with a digital pen. He had no weapon to fight off whatever abomination was ambling towards him through the ashes. Sintash was supposed to be a perfectly mundane delivery! It was a terraformed, perfect, manufactured world with no wars, no predators, no diseases, no parasites and definitely no whatever the hell that thing was!
Feeling dread rising in his chest Thomas tore the enormous package open, hoping that something inside would aid him.
[Thank you for buying the world-end survival kit!] A letter declared within the box.
“Yes!” Thomas growled. His eyes went lower.
[Contents: 2000 dry meals, just add water.]
Thomas reached into the box, his hand automatically pulling out a single plastic bottle containing dry powder. The stick figure abomination was almost upon him. He threw the bottle at it.
The hand of the stick figure shot through the air and grabbed the bottle with unnatural, uncanny grace. It unscrewed the cap and shook the dry contents, absorbing them with its fractal-pyramid face.
Thomas fished another bottle out and held it in front of him like a lifeline, not sure what to do next. He didn’t understand what he was even looking at. The entire stick figure was composed of… something inexplicable, akin to constantly moving ferromagnetic fluid that rapidly folded into itself. The sight made his eyes water.
“What are you?” He uttered as he watched the stick figure finish devouring the powder.
“I am Zedix̶̪̘͐̕ͅx̴̖͓͎̾̓͂į̶̍͝s̷̪̅̏s̶̬̘͛̕h̸̨͖͖͑̽̌t̴̪͉͘ą̶̹̓͂͝v̵̧͇͔̂͋i̴̛̮͆͝b̷̬̝̥̍a̴̼̮͒r̷̢̗̺͋ư̸̱̬͈̔s̸̡̝̫̗̭̋͐͗̑͆ǐ̶͇̝͝a̶̹͛͒̚h̸͙͓̓̽͋͠,” the answer came.
The end of the sentence was made from incomprehensible sounds that reverberated inside the skull of the delivery man, giving him a blinding migraine. Thomas tried not to heave, his mind unable to process the name for a few seconds.
“I’m… urhgh. I don’t think that I could repeat that,” he said finally. “I’m… going to call you Zed, if that's alright with you.”
“Ṯ̷̆h̴̨̊i̷̥̾s̴͔̈́ ̸̂͜i̸̱̾s̸̼̿ ̴̟͘a̴̢̍c̷͙͘c̷͚͐ē̶͖p̷̡̒t̵̺͛a̸̱̍b̵̢̿l̴͙̄ę̷̆,” the fractal stick figure rambled, its voice made from static and a million other voices and sounds that clashed with each other in a barely-comprehensible cacophony.
“What are you?” Thomas repeated his question, trying to put his best 'first contact' face on. “An… alien? Some kind of machine? An AI that survived? You sound… freaky. It’s… exceptionally difficult for me to understand you.”
“I am an echo of the cosmic boundary of the song of the stars,” the thing repeated in Thomas’ own voice. "Using this limited method of vibrational communication and dimenshionality, I am what your fellow multicellular kin could best describe as the observer causality event horizon paradox manifestation."
“Marginally better, even if I have no idea what any of that means,” Thomas sighed. “Although... I would prefer you not using my voice.”
“Please attempt to acquire a signature from the recipient one more time,” Lizz chimed from Thomas’ bracelet.
Thomas put the bracelet on mute mode.
“Is this better?” the stick figure asked in the overly-cheerful voice of Lizz.
“Good enough,” Thomas nodded, trying not to stare at the folding fractals that made his head hurt. “What happened here?”
“I happened,” the stick figure being replied. “The denizens of this world that called themselves the Portal Management Research Institute created a microscopic white hole, through which I stepped into this plane. I have judged the local life and found myself beset by containment barriers which disagreed with my existence. I have obliterated all organic life on this cosmic sphere as I have judged it... bothersome.”
“I… see,” Thomas rubbed his scruffy beard. “Now what? Are you going back into the white hole?”
“That is not how white holes work,” Zed said.
“So... you’re stuck here?” Thomas raised an eyebrow.
“Affirmative,” Zed affirmed. "I shall persist here until the white hole comprising my core burns away."
"How long would this take?" The delivery man asked.
"Approximately one hundred of your years," Zed replied. "Unless I vaporize an entire planet's worth of organic life daily."
“How do you know how to speak English?” The now somewhat less nervous GUPS delivery man asked.
“I have studied the remnants of your communication devices,” the stick figure replied.
“Fair enough,” Thomas nodded. “What’s your plan now?”
“I am currently judging you, human,” Zed said.
“And?” The delivery man arched an eyebrow.
“I find you acceptable,” the fractal stick figure commented.
“That’s nice,” the delivery man exhaled. “I’m Thomas.”
“I find you acceptable, Thomas,” Zed repeated. “You shall serve as my emissary across the local cosmos as I judge all that I see.”
“What do I get out of it?” Thomas asked, sensing that he’s just been inadvertently burdened with some sort of an incomprehensible mission, which would likely result in the genocide of countless inhabited worlds.
“What do you desire in exchange for serving as my emissary… Thomas?” Zed asked, the cheerful female voice which the cosmic abomination now used clashing with its grand declarations.
Ideas rushed through the head of the GUPS delivery man. Wealth, power, love, immortality? What could this cosmic, alien judge even provide him? Was he really willing to become the Silver Surfer, a herald for a Galactus-like alien abomination that could end planets with a snap of its fingers?
Thomas opened and closed his mouth struggling for words. He felt that if he screwed this up, pissed Zed off like the people in charge of Sintash, all of humanity could face extinction.

2023.06.07 23:52 Annual-One-994 The Advantages of Investing in Gold: A Time-Tested Asset for Financial Stability
In today's ever-changing and unpredictable financial landscape, it's crucial to explore investment opportunities that offer stability and resilience. One such asset that has stood the test of time is gold. For centuries, gold has captivated civilizations across the globe with its beauty, rarity, and intrinsic value. Its unique characteristics make it an intriguing addition to any diversified portfolio. Some of the advantages of investing in gold include:
- Store of value and wealth preservation: Gold has proven its ability to preserve wealth over time. Throughout history, it has been a symbol of wealth and power, maintaining its allure even in the face of economic uncertainty and market volatility. Unlike fiat currencies that can be subject to inflationary pressures, gold's scarcity and physical properties contribute to its value as a reliable store of value. It has acted as a hedge against inflation, offering stability and security during turbulent times.
- Portfolio diversification: Achieving a well-diversified portfolio is a fundamental strategy for managing risk and maximizing returns. Including gold in your investment mix can significantly enhance diversification. Gold often exhibits a lower correlation with traditional financial assets such as stocks and bonds. When other investments may experience downturns, gold has the potential to perform differently, providing a buffer against market fluctuations and reducing overall portfolio risk.
- Global demand and market liquidity: Gold maintains a robust and highly liquid global market. Its universal appeal makes it accessible to investors worldwide. Whether you prefer to invest in physical gold in the form of bars or coins, or through investment vehicles like gold ETFs or gold mining stocks, there are numerous avenues to participate in this market. The liquidity of gold ensures that you can easily buy or sell your gold holdings as needed, offering flexibility and agility in managing your investment portfolio.
- Economic and geopolitical considerations: Gold's value can be influenced by various economic and geopolitical factors. It often serves as a barometer for market sentiment, and its price can respond to shifts in the global economic landscape. During times of economic crisis or geopolitical tensions, gold has historically acted as a safe haven asset, attracting investors seeking stability and a store of value. By monitoring these factors and their potential impact on gold prices, investors can gain valuable insights for making informed investment decisions.
One company I’d recommend checking out is CopAur Minerals (TSXV: CPAU). $CPAU is a junior mining company focused on exploring and developing their portfolio of assets. They have one gold/copper asset in BC, Canada, along with 3 high grade gold assets in Nevada. This is where their flagship asset, The Kinsley Mountain Gold Project, is located. Kinsley is a significantly advanced project with a 500,000+ ounce deposit currently and historical production of 138,000 ounces of high grade oxide gold from 1995-1999. They recently announced a drill program at Kinsley where they plan to increase the size and grade of the resource through in-fill drilling, along with testing new targets that have near-mine discovery potential.

2023.06.07 23:35 Annual-One-994 The Advantages of Investing in Gold: A Time-Tested Asset for Financial Stability
2023.06.07 23:13 TheBoringInvestor96 Struggling to get foot in the door
I (27M) am a sole proprietor in the reselling business for the past years and did relatively well. I also have a passion for finance and recently decided to attempt to get into the field for a more stable lifestyle and eventually get away from the reselling hustle. I want to become a financial planner ultimately.
Never held a professional job so everything from resume writing to applying for jobs is new to me. I have been applying for 100+ jobs in banks and financial institutions and even the $15/h teller positions rejected. Even entry positions require 1-2 years of banking experience. Only life insurance companies show interest. I despite life insurance companies but now they are my only options if I want a sponsor for the Series 7 and 6.
Any advice would be appreciated. I know my CV sucks but that’s pretty much what I did. Right now I’m inclined to just eat the ego and go work for a life insurance company to get the license til I got something better. Money is not really a problem because my business still provides me with a decent income regardless of if I got a professional job or not.
