2023.03.26 14:48 Ill_Ad_2002 Loosey

We all know Loosey hasn't come off as the most charismatic on this season, but I truly admire her self-belief because she is indeed very talented. As a creative who struggles with imposter syndrome, it actually inspires me to know my own worth and not to downplay it, even if the people around me do.
She's had a very strong run on this show and I'm sure will grow a lot from it, both in regards to her brand identity, but also finding a way to let loose (pun intended) and relax. I just hope her edit and the way the audience has perceived her doesn't affect her and her career too much moving forward.
Being on Drag Race is very testing and some personalities cope with it better than others. Production obviously exploits and highlights when contestants have an edge and tend to get uptight.
Where past contestants in a similar role (ie Alexis Michelle, although her delusion was stronger imo) have grated on me and I just wanted to see them gone, the complexity of Loosey's character has added a lot to this season and made it very watchable, I find. #thatsmyopinion

What am I dealing with here?
Hi all,
These guys have been showing up in my bedroom studio lately. It's a 12m2 bedroom that I use for music stuff, so I'm not to keen on leaving them rooming about in there. i thought they might be moths? Got a second hand rug from my girlfriend's grandma three months ago. Other then that there are some guitar bags (mostly plastic) in there. The room is kept dark, ie. not much sunlight in there. Any guesses on what these are and what I can do to keep 'em out? Cheers!

2023.03.26 14:46 AlisaofallTimes May I ask you something?

There's two things I really want to see from fellow fans, and I'm not sure if it's rude to ask, but here goes:
  1. Angus McFife karaoke (instrumental with lyrics in the video, like an actual karaoke)
  2. The Fires of Ancient Cosmic Destiny guitar cover (at least from the "Goodbye" to the beginning of the interdimensional transmission)
I don't know... Was it rude to ask? Will you do it?

2023.03.26 14:45 maoriminister Should I [27F] trust the most common views that are expressed online, on Reddit and on this subreddit. Or should I trust the views of the people in my life? [33F] [62F] [56M]

Basically I believe the following things (about people in a general sense, I don't mean these apply to every man and woman):
I believe that it's thought that sexism towards women is so much more common than sexism towards men, across the world (especially in Muslim countries) and throughout history, even fairly recent history. (But my parents and sister told me it is more common but not so much more and that sexism is not about hating women nor seeing them as lesser inferior beings, that it's about men having had the roles of power and control, because they were stronger so exerted strength to get them, etc. But that women were also thought to have a just as important role, in the home.) They said violence towards women is not about hatred towards women but instead about power, control, men being physically stronger and testosterone. And that the men who commit domestic violence are also the types to get into physical fights with men in pubs, etc.
I believe it's thought that women like men as a gender more than men like women as a gender due to this. Because people think sexism means mistreating, hating, etc. And that it's thought women treat men better and with more respect.
I believe it's thought that women like men in a more well rounded way than men like women, because of sexism and because because people think men objectify women and "only want one thing" from women, and also that if you took sex away... men would prefer men in all other ways (they think women are unfunny, etc and they think that men are superior, etc.)
I believe it's thought that sexism towards men is only a thing as backlash against sexism towards women. So women who hate men hate them for how men treat women.
I believe traditional roles are not seen as equal but different and are instead seen as representing a belief that women are incapable and to serve men. I believe also that it's thought that women are defined by their relationships to men.
I believe that when men do typically female hobbies and jobs women propel them to success and praise them for the bare minimum (which they wouldn't do for a woman with the same skills), like drag queens and gay male makeup artists. But women doing typically male jobs or hobbies are held to higher standards, have to prove themselves more, are not given the same support and are even verbally abused or threatened online. (Female gamers, female Mps, in sport, female celebs, etc.) And that there are boy's clubs that are hostile towards women in male dominated workplaces, but not girl's clubs that are hostile towards men in female dominated workplaces. I believe that having female main characters, idols, etc is not something many men want nor can relate to, while male main characters, idols are fine for women.
I believe it's thought that women (especially teen girls) hate each other, get jealous, compete and have internalised misogny, but that men have stronger bonds, friendships and camaraderie. (Even though my psychologist told me that it's instead believed that women mostly support each other.)
My parents and sister told me I was wrong about all of these things and that most people don't think these things, my sister identifies as a feminist herself. But online and on Reddit everybody has the same views as me. Why the contrast? What are your opinions? (Also when I asked my psychologist, she had the same opinions as my family.)

2023.03.26 14:45 beatleswmc01 08 Focus Auto: Difficulties Uphill

Hey everyone. My mother’s vehicle is having issues. It was having a metal scraping noise in the same wheel that used to be vibrating but the shop she took it to replaced the spindle and said it was the worst one they’ve ever seen (I would have fixed that if it was my vehicle but I didn’t wanna mess with something like that on hers), that noise is gone.
When she got it back the traction control and the drivetrain wrench light were on and the MAF sensor turned out to be unplugged. However, the lights eventually came back on (when she drove it, not when I was idling). The transmission fluid is burnt and there was also a drag feeling when you let go of the gas.
Before I discovered the MAF sensoon the way home from the shop we were going up a mild hill where the speed limit was 45 but it was only going like 30-35. (In a working vehicle most people go 55 on that road).
I haven’t rode in it yet since I plugged the MAF back in but she said it’s okay after you get it up to speed.
Without Googling it again, from my mind I’m thinking the main possibilities are any engine problem including an exhaust blockage as well, transmission, or something wrong with that back left wheel still (some possibilities are a lot more likely than others)

2023.03.26 14:43 Lekritz I think I know why Eminem's lyrics disappeared

(Sorry that this is a long text, but just read it)
So, as you might've noticed, on popular music streaming platforms (specifically Apple music and Spotify), time-synced lyrics are gone. It has taken a few days for the community to realise this and start discussing it on threads. You might think it's because of an error in lyrics database but, that is probably not the case.
For those of you who use Musixmatch, might notice that the lyrics are removed there too, with the message saying "We're not authorised to show these lyrics". This is uncommon. When artists disallow Musixmatch to make profit off of them by displaying their lyrics, Musixmatch can't show them and will display this sentence instead.
There could be several reasons for artists to make this choice. The main reason being, Musixmatch builds their music catalogue almost only by the community working on it with trust. Artists can be worried for their songs to display as low-quality when their lyrics are incorrect, so they disallow it.
The reason I'm telling you this, is because these streaming platforms don't worry about lyrics. They use third-party-companies like Lyricfind, Genius and Musixmatch. When Eminem blocked Musixmatch from displaying his lyrics, the streaming platforms that used Musixmatch to get lyrics couldn't get lyrics.
With that being said, these streaming platforms can't fix it. The only thing they can do and are probably doing, is finding a different lyrics platform that'll give them lyrics

2023.03.26 14:39 annualincome Dreamed GF tried to kill me with trans lover??

I just woke up from a very upsetting dream where I went to see the new super Mario bros movie, and it was kind of a horror movie? But also real life? And in it, my GF has been cheating on me with the main trans character from Euphoria? And they were like the villains in the film with me and some other friends in it; toad was there too and played by a really fat man who had trouble getting through the green tube. Repeatedly in the dream her and Euphoria girl tried stabbing me and everyone else a lot and it really hurt (not in real life). At one point Euphoria girl stabbed me, and then GF stabbed me again in same spot and dragged knife all the way down from my chest to my stomach and I felt so betrayed and sad. And then somehow we were at dinner later with her family and she had like no remorse over anything but also was crying and confused. Then I left and I was in a group chat with her and her twin sister and her twin texted “wait… so you love Victor (me) more than her?” And GF emphasized the message and wrote “hate hate hate” and then I woke up!
TLDR : I love my gf and this dream about her trying to stab and kill me with another lover made me very sad. Does it mean anything?

2023.03.26 14:38 Recent-Listen7679 Metallica enter sandman written as a Disney story by ChatGPT

Once upon a time in a magical kingdom, there was a young boy named Jimmy. Jimmy had trouble falling asleep at night and often had nightmares that kept him up. One day, a fairy godmother appeared to Jimmy and promised to help him overcome his fears.
The fairy godmother gave Jimmy a special sandman doll and told him that every time he closed his eyes and held the doll, he would be transported to a magical dreamland where he would be safe and protected from all harm.
Excited to try it out, Jimmy went to bed that night and closed his eyes tightly, holding the sandman doll in his arms. As he drifted off to sleep, he felt the magic of the sandman taking over and he was transported to a wondrous world filled with enchantment and adventure.
In this magical world, Jimmy met a group of friendly animals who took him on a journey through enchanted forests, across sparkling rivers, and up into the clouds. Together, they battled evil witches and sorcerers, rescued princesses and dragons, and saved the kingdom from certain destruction.
As the night went on and the adventures became more daring, Jimmy felt his fears slip away and a sense of peace wash over him. He knew that with the sandman by his side, he was safe and protected, and nothing could harm him.
Finally, as the night came to an end and the sun began to rise, Jimmy returned to his own bed, feeling tired but happy. He knew that the next time he had trouble sleeping, he could always count on the sandman to take him on another magical adventure and help him overcome his fears once again.
And so, with a smile on his face and the sandman doll in his arms, Jimmy drifted off to sleep, looking forward to the next time he could enter the magical dreamland once again.

2023.03.26 14:32 Smurphilicious Telling a story with Josn's lute

Josn's lute is my favorite scene in the books. Always has been. Before I started theory-crafting on the sub, that was the scene I'd always revisit. I must have visited this particular scene more than any other scene in the books, and last night I noticed something new for the first time.
First off, let's talk about Denna's perfect ears.
“I...I think I understand, Reshi,” Bast said in conciliatory tones. “I’ve seen her too. Once.”
Kvothe sat back in his chair, surprised. “You have, haven’t you? I’d forgotten.” He pressed his hands to his lips. “How would you describe her then?”
Bast brightened at the opportunity. Straightening up in his chair he looked thoughtful for a moment then said. “She had perfect ears.” He made a delicate gesture with his hands. “Perfect little ears, like they were carved out of...something.”
This isn't just talking about being aesthetically pleasing. Denna is Listener. Let's look at when Kvothe wins his talent pipes
I shrugged. “Everyone kept telling me this is where the best musicians played.” I made a sweeping gesture with one hand toward her. “I trusted someone would know the part.”
She gave a sheepish grimace. “I’d only heard the song twice before this. I wasn’t sure if I’d remember all of it.”... “And the second time was just a span ago. A couple played it during a formal dinner I attended off in Aetnia.”
I shook my head, hardly believing it. “That’s amazing. It’s a terribly difficult harmony. And to remember all the lyrics....” I marveled silently for a moment, shaking my head. “You have an incredible ear.”
Her perfect, incredible ears hear more than just the music. Look to their picnic at the end of WMF
“Do you know the secret of stones?” she asked as she reached into thewater. The hem of her dress dipped into the stream, but she seemedunconcerned.
“What secret is that?”
She drew up a smooth, dark stone from the stream bed and held it out tome. “Come see.”
I finished cuffing up my pants and made my way into the water. She held up the dripping stone. “If you hold it in your hand and listen to it ...” She did so, closing her eyes. She stood still for a long moment, her face turned upward, like a flower.
Finally she opened her dark eyes. They smiled at me. “If you listen close enough it will tell you a story.”
She hears the stories. Now let's look at my favorite scene, Josn's lute.
I moved a finger and the chord went minor in a way that always sounded to me as if the lute were saying sad. I moved my hands again and the lute made two chords whispering against each other.
I played soft and slow, sending notes no farther than the circle of our firelight. Fingers and strings made a careful conversation, as if their dance described the lines of an infatuation.
The music moved like a spiderweb stirred by a gentle breath, it changed like a leaf twisting as it falls to the ground, and it felt like three years Waterside in Tarbean, with a hollowness inside you and hands that ached from the bitter cold.
... and she heard it. Denna listened to the story that Kvothe was telling through his song. A song from his broken heart, not directed at her, not meant to pull her or steal her away. Just the story of an unlucky orphan boy. She listened and knew what three years Waterside in Tarbean felt like, felt the hollowness inside herself.
Reta remained frozen, her hand held in front of her mouth. Denna lowered her face into her hands and began to cry in quiet, hopeless sobs.
That is the story of Jax and Ludis. That's how Jax told her his story, not through words, but through song.
He poured out a sweet song into the clear night sky. No simple bird trill, this was a song that came from his broken heart. It was strong and sad. It fluttered like a bird with a broken wing.
Hearing it, the moon came down to the tower. Pale and round and beautiful, she stood before Jax in all her glory, and for the first time in his life he felt a single breath of joy.
An angel heard Jax's beguiling song, and descended from Above to be with him.
She looked me in the eye. “Kvothe,” she said seriously. “Steal me.”
Bound with kisses and cords of a chorded song.

2023.03.26 14:29 CrownedSeeker Tickets for Sabaton's show in the Netherlands on the 3rd of May.

First, I apologize if I'm breaking any sub rules. I' m just kind of desperate and can't think of another way to do this.
My wife and brother in law are both big Sabaton fans and since both their birthdays are coming up (in May) and they wanted to go to one of the shows from the European tour and so i bought them the tickets. I just got told that they won't be able to go, because her brother can't gather the money for the trip there (We don't live in the Netherlands).
Unfortunately, since that's the case, i can't sell the tickets directly through the site, since i don't have an account with a bank in the Netherlands and refunding doesn't really exist in the eyes of Ticketmaster. That being said, if anyone is looking for the show I'd be more than happy to sell the tickets to you (at a cheaper price, of course).
Alternatively, if anyone can point me in the direction of a subreddit dedicated to the transferring of tickets from people who can't use them to people who need 'em - that'll also be greatly appreciated.

2023.03.26 14:27 List_Man_3849 ListMan's kinda crazy Eurovision Analysis: Poland since 2015 seems to mirror Slovenia from 1997-2006

This may seem random (and possibly even offensive to the Jannposters on here), but hear me out. Data on the "fan opinions" are based on the Eurovisonworld ratings and the ESC Discord rankings. Flaired as memes/shitposts as that is what it deserves
Zbudi Se-In The Name of Love (divisive sad songs; you either like it or you hate it)
Naj Bogovi Slišijo-Color of Your Life (well liked ballads by male singers with interesting voices)
For a Thousand Years-Flashlight (two amazing performers with songs that build up well)
Energy-Light Me Up (the stereotypical EDM of their eras)
Samo Ljubezen-Pali Sie (cool performances, generally agreed to have been robbed)
Nanana-Empires (few have strong feelings about these)
Stay Forever-The Ride (controversially selected, kinda bland)
Stop-River (male vocalists who are generally liked, who also underperformed)
Mr. Nobody-Solo (controversially selected to the point where fans of the second place point that out incessantly, generic radio pop)
If you hate this, downvotes to the left

2023.03.26 14:27 SeniorBaker4 I[F] had an interesting discussion with my male coworker about hooking up with orbiters.

I told my coworker that I didn’t really see anything wrong with how Destiny picks up woman. He told me it’s a bit weird.
I replied with “Well I don’t find it weird because it’s basically like tender for girls. If I were to make an tender right now there be 100 guys in my dms instead of if I were a guy there would be 0. It’s actually kind of smart. I think you find it weird because it’s not a common method on picking up woman.”
Coworker: “Oh I didn’t think of it like that. I don’t think their is anything wrong with the method as long as their adults.”
Me: “So is this what it would be like if a guy had this many matches on tender? Because girls just usually scroll through the matches and pick one guy they like.”
Coworkers “ Haha. Yes instead of select one it would be select all. Gotta catch em all”
The end. Discussion?
