La Papesse from the Camoin/Jodorowsky 1997 TdM
La Papesse has an open book on her lap. I confess that when I initially looked at this card, I did not think much about it. I presumed it was the Bible (or some other writ approved by the Church), and not very interesting. However, it has been and continues to be, for many writers of TdM commentary, a source of speculation.
When we work with tarot cards, we make the assumption that every detail contributes to the meaning of the card. The problem is in determining what is genuine symbolic resonance and what is merely cleverness on our part, concocted symbolism leading us through rabbit holes of our own conscious design to intellectually determined conclusions (i.e., taking us where we had already decided to go). It is an especial dilemma for me because I love rabbit holes, but I love them when they lead me into unsuspected areas of discovery; I do not want to be (pardon the mixed metaphors) like my cat who catches sight of his tail, begins chasing after it, spinning like a dervish, and banging into furniture.
The book La Papesse holds on her lap, at least in the Jodorowsky text, shows seventeen lines. This is significant as it establishes a connection with the 17th arcanum, “for the accumulation of The High Priestess is the action of [L’Étoile].” La Papesse is passive; she is not engaged in any activity: she reads her script, meditates upon it, allowing it to fill her in accordance with a traditional monastic practice called Lectio Divina or “Divine Reading.” In the Lectio Divina, scripture is the living word, the Logos, which became incarnate in Jesus Christ; hence, the presence of the egg, a symbol of new life, which in its most positive aspect represents an elevated future self. (In Jean Dodal’s deck, this second arcanum is named La Pances, which means “belly” and might signify the womb or Church.) This takes us to L’Étoile, which features a human woman, naked and pregnant; in the Jodorowsky-Camoin illustration, “she [bears a sign] on her rounded belly at the level of the navel evok[ing] a seed of life. She spreads fertility.... What is received from on high, The Star, channel of universal generosity, pours toward the Earth to fertilize it.”

It is an odd mark Jodorowsky refers to (it has always reminded me of a set of lips), but it has precedent in the Dodal and Payen decks. In most of the other historical decks, the mark has been diminished and appears to be an ordinary belly button, or it is not present at all. In the Dodal and Payen, and well as the Noblet, the naked woman is flesh-colored, except for her face, which is strikingly white, like the Popess’s. In 1709, Madenié made her face flesh-colored like the rest of her body, and so it is in every historical TdM type-II, as well as Jodorowsky’s deck, contributing to the distinct impression that in his recreation of an authentic Tarot de Marseille, he and Phillipe Camoin cherry-picked (or outright contrived) details to further the narrative they had decided upon.
So are the seventeen lines displayed in the Popess’s book a discovery of another harmonic resonance in the Major Suit or artifice introduced, consciously or otherwise, into Jodorowsky’s commentary? It is always a slippery slope, and even if we can find no antecedent, that does not in itself invalidate the image.
Authentic symbols cannot result from focused, linear, rational thought. “They,” as Joseph Campbell writes, “are not manufactured; they cannot be ordered, invented, or permanently suppressed. They are spontaneous productions of the psyche, and each bears within it, undamaged, the germ power of its source.” When people try to devise symbols, they end up with signs, which stand for something completely known, and of course they are known, for they come from that part of us that quantifies and qualifies, labels and categorizes.
Jodorowsky makes an intriguing case for the connection between the Popess and the star woman, but he does not follow through. Further, he does not cite any historical precedent, and when we look at other cards, we see in the Noblet, the book has six lines, linking La Papesse to Le Chariot. This is not an obvious connection, but it is not impossible to make either: Jodorowsky writes, “The Chariot enters the world like a conqueror, a traveler, or an inseminating prince.” In the Pierre Madenié, the Popess’s book has sixteen lines, referring us to La Maison Dieu, which might be interpreted as representing the traumatic experience of birth. We could apply the same line of associative thinking if one of the TdMs featured a book with twelve lines: Le Pendu, hangs upside down, like a fetus preparing to be born. If a book had twenty one lines, we would no doubt see the world dancer in his/her vulvic wreath; and if it had twenty lines, that might signal a birth into an eternal life, from the womb of the tomb into an incorruptible spiritual existence. We are able to devise an endless number of permutations, for our capacity for cleverness is boundless. In Francois Tourcaty’s 1745 TdM, the book has fifteen lines, a number that corresponds to the 15th arcanum, Le Diable.

“The open book is flesh-colored to show that it represents the evolution of life on the physical plain, not only in all its modalities, but also as heredity and as a continuance of the species.” This comes from Paul Marteau’s commentary, which has only recently become available in the English language thanks to the efforts of Kitos Digiovanni in his blog https://smallcabin.org.
“The book she holds,” Jodorowsky declares, “destines her to study and knowledge. Flesh-colored, it tells us that she is studying the laws of human incarnation. Because she is not reading it, it gives us reason to think that this open volume is nothing other than herself, waiting for someone to come to decipher it, to awaken her. It also refers to the Holy Scriptures: The High Priestess collects the language of God the Father, the living language.”
Jean-Claude Flornoy, in Seeing the World: Tarot Signposts on the Path to Perception, writes, “The open book she holds on her knees is the great book of the knowledge of vitality and of nature.”
The book in all the historical cards I am familiar with is flesh-colored, until we come to Rochus Schär, 1750, when the pages appear more white. Shortly thereafter, Nicolas Conver decided to make the pages gold, an innovation of his that did not catch on, though J. H. Arnoux and A. E. Amphoux (1801) did retain the gold color for the outer edges of the flesh-colored pages.

Unlike the number of lines, which I believe is more likely to be random than a revelation, this seems to be a significant detail, but it leaves us with questions that have yet to be satisfactorily addressed. Going all the way back to Noblet, why would the book be so full of vitality when the reader of the book appears lifeless (all the blood drained from her face and hands)? How do we interpret this?
If the book is full of life, then would not her close contact with it also reinvigorate La Papesse? Perhaps this is what Claude Rochias intended to convey when his Popess’s hands were made flesh-colored. It may be the vitality is moving up through her body and will eventually reach her face. (If that was his intent, I wish he would have made her neck at least partially flesh-colored as well, to strengthen the impression.) Nicolas Conver continued this stream, and we see it in the Arnoux & Amphoux as well (1801) though in the Bernadine Suzanna (1839), her hands are white, once again.

In the 1880 De La Rue, which became the model for Paul Marteau and Grimaud, not only the book is flesh colored, but so are the hands, face, and even the Popess’s sleeves, as well as the curtain that hangs behind her. “The flesh-colored drapery behind the tiara, shows that the higher part of the woman, a symbol of passivity, can be hidden by the veil of matter” (Marteau, trans. Digiovanni). Marteau goes on to contrast the veil representing her individual corporeal nature with the “immutable and eternal wisdom” represented by the three-tiered papal crown.
But if this is the distinction we are meant to make, then it would seem that Conver’s idea of making the pages gold would be more on point. Of course, white (as we see in the Gassmann above) would be a fine choice, indicating the purity of God’s Word, which can bring life to the dead but cannot be corrupted itself by the contact: the flow is one way only.
It is also possible that the card-makers intended to make a statement more relevant to history. For around a thousand years, during the Middle Ages in Europe, ordinary people were not allowed to read or even own a Bible. Further, it was a crime to translate a Bible into common language. This was a way for the Church to maintain control over the people: their congregants were utterly dependent upon the clergy for spiritual wisdom. The last thing the Church Fathers would have wanted was for people to be able to read and think for themselves. Bibles were only becoming available to the masses shortly before TdM imagery was created, but even then the issue was not put entirely to rest. There were many laws regulating the publication and reading of Bibles, and people who were found guilty of violating them were sometimes put to death.
I am not an expert in this area, but it is possible that the Popess, with her lifeless face and hands was a statement against the Church for denying people direct access to the life-giving wisdom of the Holy Writ.

This post is long, controversial people and ideas appear below, I speculate at points, and there's a lot of acronyms, so a summary up-front: The Wilson/Davis meeting was real, the program Admiral Wilson told Dr. Davis about was real. It is the same program--Zodiac--that Lue Elizondo and Harry Reid ran afoul of in 2009, pointed in its direction by Dr. Davis. The program is so powerful in the US DoD that it managed to do what all organizations do when they feel threatened by a competitor: it "consumed" the UAPTF (successor to Harry Reid et al's AAWSAP), and re-org'd it ultimately as "AARO", to serve a role once filled by Project Blue Book: a public UFO debunking group to make the subject appear mundane. AARO, unknown perhaps to some or all working for it, is the public relations wing of the control group behind the cover-up, or is itself now an active arm of it. AARO should not be trusted. The control group guards the gateway to a reality wilder than imagination.
Intro
In May 2022 the United States held hearings on UFOs (9-min highlights).
In those proceedings, representatives of AOIMSG (later re-designated "AARO"):
...appeared publicly representing the then-recently re-organized program, succeeding the UAP Task Force.
The two gentlemen claimed no knowledge of any UFO program/s within the US Government in the years between AAWSAP (which officially ran from 2008-2012, and continued in some fashion through 2017 before being succeeded by the UAPTF) and the USAF's Project Blue Book (which closed in 1969).
They claimed no knowledge of well-known UFO incidents (which would have been in the files they inherited from UAPTF), claimed no communications attempts had been sent to unknown fliers in US airspace (Implies that unknowns--including Russian or Chinese--can enter and exit US airspace without challenge), showed a short video of a 'dot' in the sky claiming it was all they had to go on, and so on. But Mr. Moultrie's and Mr. Bray's testimony did not match information previously released, not limited to but specifically by Luis Elizondo, who once ran AAWSAP/AATIP: the predecessor to UAPTF, the program AOIMSG/AARO re-org'd from and the papers and materials of which they had in their possession.
We know that AAWSAP/AATIP and UAPTF shared at least some personnel (Dr. Eric Davis was a consultant to both programs, for instance), it is reasonable to think there was a continuity of data between programs as well, meaning that AAWSAP's data became UAPTF's, and in turn: AOIMSG/AARO's. Which leads me to ask why the representatives of AOIMSG/AARO seemed ignorant of data they should have had. I don't expect the people at the top to know everything off the tops of their heads, but one would think they'd have their resident nerds brief them before going before Congress.

So what did AAWSAP/AATIP know?
Though former director Luis Elizondo has often asked us to "read between the lines", limited in what he can publicly say due to the Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) he's bound by, his message becomes clearer when events are laid out in order, dots between them connected.
When comparing information from AAWSAP and Elizondo to the Wilson/Davis notes, parallels emerge and details bolster each other.
This has implications for the legitimacy of AOIMSG/AARO.
Part 1: Admiral Thomas Wilson meets "the gatekeepers"

Uploaded in 2019 by UFO researcher Grant Cameron, the Wilson/Davis notes were found in the personal papers of late NASA astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell, after he passed in 2016.
The notes had been rumored to exist for over a decade prior. Edgar Mitchell discussed the story behind them on CNN's "Larry King Live" in 2008: https://youtu.be/unEzDmiHKic?t=80 (time-stamped)
The notes are one of the most controversial cases to appear in ufology in decades, with credible supporting and skeptical arguments alike. No less than John Greenewald Jr. (of The Black Vault) has speculated the notes were written for a film or TV show.

I ask your indulgence as I respectfully disagree with Mr. Greenewald below.

The Wilson/Davis notes contend that Admiral Thomas Wilson (US Navy, now retired) met Dr. Eric Davis (of Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies, NIDS, AAWSAP, and a consultant for UAPTF) in Las Vegas in 2002 for a confidential meeting at Davis's request. Davis tooks notes during the meeting, and those notes are what Grant Cameron eventually published online.
Admiral Wilson allegedly told Dr. Davis in that meeting about the admiral's attempt circa 1997 to gain access to a reverse-engineering program managed by at least one large American private defense contractor, and controlled via an unusual governmental Special Access Program, or SAP.
SAPs can serve as "umbrellas" for USAPs: Unacknowledged Special Access programs, which can themselves be umbrellas for even more secretive programs, programs that ultimately even the SAP Oversight Commitee has little or no window into. Like a "Russian doll" of secrecy.

In the mid-1990s, Dr. Steven Greer (of CSETI) obtained a document dated 28 July 1991, said to be leaked from the Nellis Test & Training Range (NTTR) in Nevada:

This document listed a number of group code-names, warning each to suspend visible operations in light of an impending civilian UFO-researcher event in the nearby town of Rachel, Nevada, just to the north of the NTTR.

Dr. Greer, at that time in the mid-'90s working alongside Dr. Edgar Mitchell (Mitchell later distanced himself from Greer), met with Admiral Wilson around 1996, and showed him that allegedly leaked document from the NTTR.
Dr. Greer asked the admiral to see if he could, using his clearances and access, find anything about any of the code names on that list.
Two of the names on that list are MAJ and MAJI Ops. If legitimate, this would lend credence to the idea of some group with a name similar to "MAJIC" or "Majestic": extremely loaded terms.
Admiral Wilson searched the Pentagon Records Group, and found at least one of the names on that list (we don't know which): it was a Special Access Program within what was at that time the OUSDAT (at that time, the Office of the Under-Secretary of Defense for Acquisitions and Technology).
From the Wilson/Davis notes page 7, Wilson speaking to Davis in 2002:
They told me of a special projects record group not belonging to usual SAP - a special subset of the unacknowledged/carve-outs/waived programs - not belonging to usual SAP divisions as organized in '94 by Perry himself - set apart from rest but buried/covered by conventional SAPs

The admiral was concerned that the program he found should have been something he was aware of, if not in control of. But he had no prior knowledge of it at all.
He reached out to its leaders, and was grudgingly granted a meeting with three people who called themselves the gatekeepers, who reluctantly told him they represented a reverse-engineering program: that they had in their possession at least one intact vehicle "not made by human hands".
They were mostly concerned with how he found them and what he wanted. When he said he needed to be vetted in, they saw to it that the admiral was rebuffed and threatened--with loss of rank and pension--if he pursued the matter further.
Admiral Wilson has been contacted multiple times over the years since and has denied the Wilson/Davis notes each time, as he promised he would within the notes themselves.
In a 2020 interview with the NY Post's Steven Greenstreet, Dr. Eric Davis awkwardly refused to confirm or deny the meeting and notes. Judge for yourself, here is that clip, he reads to me as a man cornered:

Next I'm going to get into AAWSAP, and it's worth noting I feel that Dr. Davis was a consultant to that program. He reported to Dr. Hal Puthoff, who himself reported to Lue Elizondo.

As all these people worked together and shared security clearances, they were freer to talk about certain topics than Dr. Davis appears in the video with Mr. Greenstreet above. This potentially has implications, for how and from where Elizondo might know where to look for "certain things".
Part 2: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the mysterious "other" UFO group
2008: AAWSAP's beginnings have been gone over many times, I'll summarize only. The New York Times article from December 2017 that revealed the program is here.
A brief summary of the origins of the program can be had here, in a somewhat neutral tone.
The program grew out of discussions between Las Vegas entrepreneur Robert Bigelow and the late Senator Harry Reid, and initially was led by Dr. James Lacatski with a focus on studying unexplained phenomena, including UFOs.
When Dr. Lacatski left the group, former counter-intel officer Luis Elizondo was brought in to lead the program.

I'm going to put aside the fact Mr. Elizondo met the head of a US Government UFO program that ran in the 1980s, which already makes AOIMSG/AARO's assertion there was no program between Blue Book and AAWSAP false. Mr. Moultrie and Mr. Bray had only to ask Elizondo if he knew of any other groups, but they apparently were incurious.
2009: Mr. Elizondo, the fresh director of AAWSAP, bumped up against a different group (not the one from the 1980s) within the US Department of Defense--a Special Access Program of some kind--which he and Sen. Harry Reid had reason to believe held deep secrets about the same kinds of subjects AAWSAP was looking into, specifically non-human-created technologies.
Not being a Special Access Program themselves, AAWSAP had no access to this other group's personnel, data, or materials.
Senator Reid, who was at the time the US Senate Majority Leader and one of the trio of senators (along with Ted Stevens and Daniel Inouye) who'd gotten AAWSAP initially funded, tried to get AAWSAP (as "AATIP") re-designated a Special Access Program itself:

This would have granted specific AAWSAP personnel (as AATIP) the appropriate clearances to be vetted into this strange SAP they'd run into.
Senator Reid was rebuffed, and he, along with AAWSAP/AATIP personnel--including Mr. Elizondo and Dr. Hal Puthoff--was denied access to the other group and its materials. No... um, I've just only heard rumors, and I'm not going to get into rumors.
Part 3: UAPTF, to AOIMSG, to AARO -- Stealing back the narrative
In 2012, AAWSAP was refused additional funding and officially closed, though the program continued in some fashion until Elizondo's resignation from the US Government and his joining Tom DeLonge's To The Stars in 2017.
After Elizondo went public, the US Government effort that had been AAWSAP/AATIP was ultimately reborn as the UAP Task Force (UAPTF), which eventually counted among its members UFO whistleblower David Grusch.
Under To The Stars, the current public UFO disclosure advocacy effort began, with Christopher Mellon acquiring and leaking three now-famous videos of UFOs recorded by US Navy personnel, the release of History Channel's Unidentified series, and a steady stream of press: the tone of which began to take the subject more seriously.
This began to apply pressure from the outside to the subject: by re-framing it as an aerospace integrity, safety, and national security issue, credible people like Mellon poked the US Government asking, "Why won't you take this seriously?"
This led to increasing serious interest in the topic not only by the public but by vocal members of the US Congress like Mike Gallagher and Tim Burchett, by respected journalists like Ross Coulthart. Stigma was chipped away at, new reporting avenues were added for US military personnel; progress seemed to be being made.

In response, I think the group Elizondo and Reid, and before them I believe Admiral Wilson, had encountered, did what any organization that feels another could become a threat to it does: they bought out the competition, consuming the UAPTF and making it their own.
In a December 2021 article for The Hill, Elizondo and Mellon each voiced concern over the re-org and move of the now former-UAPTF to AOIMSG (later re-branded AARO) under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security (OUSD(I&S)):

With the newly-branded AARO in their pocket, the control group regained the upper hand. Instead of doing away with a government UFO office entirely, they would control the one that existed and through it shape the public narrative, getting disinformation back on track.
Part 4: Who is this "other" UFO program?
For decades there has been talk of an organization operating behind the scenes within the US Government on the UFO problem, from Project Aquarius, to the "men in black", to the Majestic 12.
In May 2021 UFO researcher Project Unity tweeted this brief exchange between UFO researchehistorian Richard Dolan and Lue Elizondo.

Like the devil of Earth myths, they've "had so many names".
They may no longer go by "Zodiac", but they almost certainly did as recently as 2009, in order for Elizondo to know that name, unless he heard it from Dr. Eric Davis (possible, even likely).
Zodiac is almost certainly the program Sen. Harry Reid tried (and failed) to get his people vetted into. I believe it's the same group (or a related silo) which denied Admiral Wilson access to their reverse-engineering program in 1997.
This group is either the current version of whatever it was Admiral Wilson found via the Pentagon Records Group, or it sits beneath it in hierarchy. Dr. Davis is likely the person who pointed Lue Elizondo in its direction, when Elizondo took charge of AAWSAP and started snooping around internally.
Zodiac is either the umbrella group itself, or one of several sibling programs (Unacknowledged SAPs) nested within a master SAP.
If it's a sub-program, it might be the reverse-engineering wing, compartmentalized apart from other silos. The other big candidate in this case could be crash retrieval.
The reverse-engineering program places recovered non-human technologies in private corporations (exempt from Freedom of Information Act requests), access to which is limited to strict "bigot lists" and protected by extremely punishing NDAs.
Progress on reverse-engineering is glacial if anything, but we will be shocked to learn what things we use in daily life have come from or were influenced by alien technologies.
People have been ruined or buried in unmarked graves for breaking ranks with the program/s. Favored aerospace and technology corporations have benefited from the relationship while their competitors have been bought out or ruined.
Military application of technologies takes all precedence.
Crash retrieval sounds straight-forward but I bet it has a lot of nuances, a lot of special skills and equipment. A global quick-response infrastructure is implied (meaning groups ready to deploy across the globe at all times. We don't want people flying out of Wright-Pat to get to a crash in say Australia, we'd want a team with the right equipment already in say Guam, ready to activate), with skilled/trained personnel and equipment standing by at all hours. The field personnel may be military or ex-military. National borders would seem to mean little and essentially violating other countries' territories a required part of the job.

Reverse-engineering, and crash retrievals, are likely not the only silos of the group.

Will Miller: Yes, I’d opine that there are probably multiple “Control Groups”, each one covering certain aspects of the UFO/ETI issue; i.e. one probably covering crash retrievals & analysis, another covering collecting & analyzing reports of “encounters,” another related to overall oversight, etc. That’s just within DoD. Additionally, there are a limited # of DoD “contractors” who even have the technological capability to work this issue to include analysis, security, etc.

The other silos under the master umbrella program, compartmentalized apart from each other, could look like...
(This is me speculating wildly on what these other programs could contain information on, and should be taken with enormous grains of salt):
  • Biological remains, and what can be gleaned from them on the environments the beings evolved in; cell-structure, nutritional requirements, reproduction, ancestry/evolutionary history. Weapons applications of non-terrestrial biology.
  • Intelligence gathering on off-world organizations. Spying on those watching humanity, maybe even using stolen alien technology to do so. Implications of using ET tech to spy on terrestrial competitors, both corporate and national. Implications if any of our visitors turn out to be biologically human (meaning their ancestors were taken from Earth and a viable breeding population of humans is kept part of the alien society even now, identical to us, perfect spies).
  • Organic/machine interfaces - anything from physical control consoles, to mind/machine interfaces, to biologically-integrated technologies, purpose-grown artificial/synthetic life-forms, genetic engineering.
  • Xeno-linguistics and communications. Alien languages: spoken, written, computemachine language/s, and maybe things we don't have an analogue for (IE the oft-reported telepathy, either naturally evolved or technologically achieved).
  • Exo-politics - the nature of alien command and social structures (or lack thereof) and initiatives; policies on dealing with native life-forms (like us).
  • Terrestrial foreign power intelligence gathering - what do other countries know/have and what are they doing with it? Given the reasons for the cover-up (weaponization), this would seem of paramount importance to the overall program.
  • Recovered craft: testing and potential use thereof. As astonished as I feel writing this... have we taken recovered or reverse-engineered craft off-world ourselves? Do we use them for terrestrial espionage? A single alien craft, if useable by humans at all, could be a game-changing military asset, so I doubt this... but I can't call it "off the table".
  • New (to us) physics - imagine what someone capable of traversing the space between star systems (or "parallel realities" if one prefers) knows about the nature of reality, that we humans do not. As the late Carl Sagan once said, "To bake an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe." Weaponization of ideas learned from alien understanding of physics (IE microwave or beam weaponry, gravity manipulation to achieve force fields, time distortions, or targeted gravitational disruptions).
  • Materials science - compounds or isotopes not found in the Sol system or even guessed at. Atomic or sub-atomic level engineering. Imagine trying to understand objects that came from industrial-sized fabricators with integrated particle acceleration capable of "3-D printing" anything from hand-held devices to entire starships in minutes using nothing but hydrogen and helium as building blocks, engineering from the sub-atomic on up with integrated quantum-computing in every atom of the device. The possibilities, as astounding as I find it, of 3-D printing custom-engineered living beings or exact duplicates of existing organisms.
  • Exo-computational devices and databases - consider what might be gleaned from understanding the alien version of a "computer". Imagine the data stored within: star charts, maps back to the point of origin or colonies and to every other inhabited biosphere within thousands of light years (or on a multi-galactic scale), medical data, historical data, entertainment like music or visuals, 3-D data storage including imagery and sounds from Earth's own past and/or countless other worlds under their observation. Not to mention insights into the minds of the people who made the technology: how they think and process data, at what speed, etc.
...and god knows what else.
Imagine if there's a silo that holds alien medical technologies: treatments or cures for diseases. The ability to re-grow lost limbs, to repair spinal damage or lost eyesight/hearing. Even if not applicable (yet) to human biology, the ideas that could come from this if shared with the medical community across Earth... all brought here incidentally in a "first-aid kit" aboard someone else's spacecraft. In defense of Zodiac, imagine the terrible weaponization potential.
Could we ever forgive these people for keeping secrets like this? For the crimes they've committed to do so? Even if they did what they felt was needed to protect national interests, at some point the base fact that we're not alone should belong to everyone. Because it really feels like what started as an attempt to hide technologies that could be weaponized if a competitor figured them out first has turned into "hiding everything we've done to hide that technology, and we can't mention aliens because that begs the question how did they get here, which brings us back to the technology", tech they don't know how to make more of.
Conclusion: Following "Lue's Clues", thoughts on and fear of the control group, disinformation, and questions
There is implication in information from Elizondo and Dr. Davis that there's been a clandestine organization controlling the UFO issue operating within the US Department of Defense for decades, a group which has repeatedly shielded itself from prying eyes. What they can't shield they reduce through propaganda to ridicule. If not in name or historical fact, this may as well be the Majestic 12 of UFO lore.
I write that name with a heavy heart, and with fear. People on these forums always snipe, "That's just what you want to believe," or, "Nobody wants to believe more than me, but c'mon".
I read those replies and every time think, "Do you know what you're saying? Have you read the Majestic documents? They're terrifying. Of course I don't want it to be real! I want it to be fake, like Robert Hastings said!" The reality they suggest is horrifying to me.
I've recoiled from, fled from, the possibility of the Majestic 12 for more than 30 years, since I first read the initial papers in Timothy Good's Above Top Secret in late 1989.
I with great trepidation read Stanton Friedman's TOP SECRET/MAJIC, hoping for some fatal flaw. I've read with interest (and often unease) these past few years everything Harry_is_white_hot--probably the lead researcher currently working on the topic--has put out about MJ-12. I keep hoping for that fatal flaw in the basic concept of a shadowy "men in black"-type group like this. No conspiracy can be that big and remain hidden, surely.
But objective reality is not influenced by what we want or would find more comfortable to be true; it simply is what it is.
That's not to say everything in the Majestic documents is real (I still hope to god it's not; they literally contain a directive on when to execute stranded alien beings to preserve secrecy), but the fact of a real organization filling that role--whatever its real history is--is for me no longer escapable after David Grusch.

I've had suspicions about AARO since its inception as AOIMSG, since the warning from Elizondo and Mellon about OUSD(I&S) in The Hill.
The re-org of UAPTF into AARO seems to me an attempt to regain control of the narrative after people like Elizondo and Mellon began to apply public pressure on the US Government to disclose what it knows about UFOs. What they can't keep secret, they ridicule: a powerful social tool.
For two decades, the US Air Force used Project Blue Book to gaslight not only the American populace, but the news media and the world, into thinking there was no "there" there in UFOs. That those of us interested in the topic were insane, to be socially ostracized, shamed, and shunned.
Blue Book was, it was later revealed by its former scientific advisor Dr. J. Allen Hynek, a public relations and propaganda program.
AARO is in its purpose no different, and will be the first place the news media turns to explain to them what is going on with the unfolding David Grusch story. Well, AARO or Neil DeGrasse-Tyson. Maybe Bill Nye.
The Grusch story is already being attached to the sensational Las Vegas "aliens in the backyard" tale - see ABC News Chicago, complete with X-files music! - scroll down the article to see them mention Mr. Grusch. Zodiac's tendrils in the press are twitching, and not even that much: just poke the bias toward mundanity they've nurtured in us for decades.
As the infamous quote goes:
"There's nothing to hide?"
"There's nothing to hide at all."

I don't know everything above and I'm absolutely very obviously speculating in places, on things I would once never have considered possible and which looked absolutely wild to my eyes even as I wrote them. I may stumble in some places but I think I've headed in the direction Lue Elizondo, Chris Mellon, Dr. Eric Davis, and others have pointed us in.
Mr. Elizondo's information, passed in pieces due to his NDAs, has been widely mocked as "Lue's Clues": deliberately mysterious and obfuscated. He's been derided as a grifter and con-artist, he's been doxxed, he's provided what he can at enormous personal cost to himself and his family. Stringing the information and hints that he's put out together, the picture not only becomes more detailed, it implies a conspiracy which in and of itself will be an ontological shock, beyond which lies even more shock, after shock, after shock.
If a nobody like me can read what Elizondo's getting at, why can't Mr. Moultrie, or Mr. Bray, or Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick for that matter? Do they not at least have questions? Are they so incurious? This is literally their job, at least on paper.
David Grusch has briefed AARO personnel on his extraordinary findings, and AARO still says, "We have no credible/verifiable indication of non-human intelligence." Saying little, they speak volumes.
The implications make me feel, appropriately I think: "somber".

Reddit has made changes in the prices to access their API that will make third-party open source apps used to access Reddit unsustainable.
This has the capability to kill third-party apps like Infinity and Diode, as well as Linux clients like Giara. RedReader was the only one lucky enough to be kept free of API charges so far, by Reddit's own pick. Who knows what the future holds for it and other projects.
An unofficial poll on this subreddit done days ago resulted in favor of going dark.
We decided to go dark on 12/06/2023 until further notice. This means you will see a banner saying something similar to "This is a private subreddit" after this date.

First of all, thanks for being patient with us. Our decision to shut the subreddit down for 48 hours was positively received (93% upvoted) by the community save for a couple of redditors. I've devoted a good chunk of my time to write this update to keep you informed before shite goes down, so I hope you'll read this post in its entirety.

How the AMA went

Steve Huffman or spez is reddit's current CEO and he held a disasterclass of an AMA yesterday. He ignored the users' most popular and upvoted concerns and cherry-picked from the lot, answering a whopping total of 14 questions.
He slandered Apollo's developer yet again, claiming Christian was two-faced with his communication privately and publicly but could not come up with any evidence. Steve then proceeded to lie about working with other third-party app developers when in truth, they were repeatedly IGNORED, like robocalls and Nigerian princes.
He also inadvertently revealed he was using canned responses, forgetting to remove the "A:" prepend after replying to a blind user... only to edit it afterwards. However! Make no mistake, this is a huge improvement over editing other users' comments by modifying their database entries. We all start somewhere :')
The AMA promised a whole lot of nothing that isn't immediately available to any of us, and the plan to charge outrageous prices for API access is running full steam ahead, like the Spurs' race for seis.

NBASpurs moderation, bots and you

With their API pricing model, this subreddit's game and post-game thread bot will be affected, particularly the box scores.
The free tier allows 100 or 10 queries per minute depending on authentication access. The bot is used by half of existing team subreddits to my knowledge, but might be decommissioned or heavily modified to stay within the free tier limits. Reducing the API call rate will render the feature useless as box scores in essence, provide real-time data, else they don't offer any substantial value to anyone.
Quoting the post Steve wrote, developers can contact reddit through a support ticket if their bots require access to the Data API above the free limits, but bigger developers have been ignored for months and months on end, so it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that they will get a free upgrade to a different tier. If push comes to shove, we'll replace it with another bot that creates game threads only, sans any other details.
Other bots that I'm currently developing will not be affected by the API pricing changes, but I'm on the fence whether it's worth it at this stage. I'm seriously thinking about quitting after the 30th. I know I just returned to publicly moderating this community, but this is not the reddit I've grown up and fell in love with. I'm 31 and I've been here since I was 15. I've seen how the site's quality went down year after year. By the time the IPO comes around, reddit will just be like any other social media website. And that's a damn shame.
u/SquandasNutCheese is also undecided at this point, and may leave if things go terribly awry.
There's also a possibility that Reddit admins might step in, remove the active mod team and replace it with users who align more with their interests. That being said, I can promise another WFSN surprise if they walk back on the changes, so you better support this protest because you're in for a real treat.

edit 1: as expected, the post is intentionally downvoted and comments to it are dismissive and offensive. Most are made in purpose, they do not want any of this to be in public light. Discrediting is what they did since day one, especially the "you need help / you're in a manic episode" etc, it's disgusting. Just read the post.
edit 2: I sent this DM to the person saying "seek help" and instead of replying he added to his public comment a large "in the spirit of berghain as a clubgoer, contact the Krisendienst, seek support"... If you want to talk, engage with the arguments and reams of evidence. But all you Still want is to silence, stonewall and discredit.
. PART ONE .
Browsing Reddit these days you can see the writing on the wall: mass subreddit protests, 3rd party reddit apps shutting down, loveletters to Reddit Admins… Reddit's CEO just had an "AMA" and in classic corporate style no real answers were given. He doubled down on his lies, attempted to gaslight the entire platform, caught copy-pasting from prepared answers, gave the same generic answers he gave many years ago, mods complaining about Reddit never responding to them. The post by the Apollo developer makes it very clear that Reddit is a very dishonest and greedy corporation.
The most common sentiment: Reddit does not respond. blind moderators' requests for accessibility features have been ignored for 3+ years. Countless moderators see how messages to modsupport lead to a void. No response, no result, no action. No word, at best some canned copypasta. Yet it's the only "official channel" to get your request heard, if it's about anything more complex than their Basic "native mod tools".
Reddit Incorporated pretends to "care" but they only care about money and anything that brings it to them - views, engagement, metrics, ads. Reddit's greedy strategy which tries to squeeze all "value" before the big IPO cash out is in clear contrast with its core model - the unpaid labor of thousands of Mods (volunteers).
Reddit is a Californian company and its culture is largely shaped by its head, it's CEO. Do's and Dont's "trickle down" from there, affecting employees' actions and decisions such as those that Reddit Admins (paid employees) take, especially in complex cases - the more greedy a company is, the less it cares, other than What Generates More Profit.
Former Admins and older mods both say that there used to be many Admin employees that cared about responding and being there. By now most are fired or have quit. Some saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. New Admins are made sure to be more compliant with the real face of Reddit before being hired, as their actions have shown. Recent example: they tried to populate new German subreddits with fake accounts / bots, using AI Translation from English to German to generate "activity".
The anonymous nature of Reddit makes it highly prone to misinformation and disinformation, something that the platform's heads have repeatedly done themselves:
In 2005, Reddit's creators help seed Reddit with numerous fake accounts to make Reddit seem more populated than it actually was.
Literally the first "major event" in its timeline, how the whole thing started.
Its creators sold Reddit to the global conglomerate Conde Nast already back in 2006. One month later, Aaron Swartz was already complaining about work becoming too corporate. This all goes back to the very beginning.
Without a doubt, Reddit's leadership shows clear signs of narcissistic abuse. There is a lot to be said about narcissistic abuse and capitalism - what "trickles down" are all the nasty byproducts of ego, greed and ignorance. Not only to internal employees, but to the broader culture of the platform.

What does any of this have to do with berghain?

There has been an extreme amount of narcissistic abuse that took place in the three Berghain subreddits (2 public and 1 private, the rest made last year), private messages, modmails, chats, false reports and so on.
This case grew far beyond just "reddit sub ownership/rivalry/whatever" - it became coordinated, scaled, directed abuse and harassment in pure bad faith. There have been extreme amounts of effort in silencing and burying the truth. Something extremely unbecoming of whoever claims to be "The Berghain Community".
Some users saw all this as just a game that they could "stir up" in any direction., joking about it in private subs (below that there was a reply saying "oh no it was a huge headache dealing with this guy" by that sub's owner).
berghain and the few people who supported it have been under an extreme amount of abuse, slander, harassment, bullying and platform manipulation over 10 entire months. The gang of abusive trolls (Bad Actors, BA for short) started with 2 members but quickly grew much larger. They allege to be "The Berghain Community" and kept discrediting everyone else in abusive and slanderous ways. Any attempt to bring the abuse itself to light and make it stop was met with never ending gaslighting: "you're crazy, paranoid, troll, insane, delusional, nobody cares, you need professional help". The comments below this post will no doubt be dismissing in similar ways - they especially now count on "many months have passed" - oddly they tried saying the same a while ago but later once exposed, immediately changed their efforts and words and had to twist reality again instead of admitting anything. Of course there were some specific users who kept gaslighting way more than others - but even when caught red handed they never admitted anything, their responses simply shifted, finding a new detail to twist reality, constantly inflating everything, making it difficult to summarize to any mediating group.
The ever growing group of BA kept denying any coordination between then, saying "it's all natural, we don't know each other". They are all regular guests of the same nightclub open for more than 30 hours every single weekend. There is way too much evidence of actions that wouldn't take place if it was just strangers on the internet. There have been countless instances where BAs kept "playing dumb" when they thought that their coordination was not known but evidence exists that proves their guilt.
When faced with endless bad faith, there must be mediation to bring sanity and peace. On Reddit, the employees that mediate complex cases are called Reddit Admins. They were repeatedly approached in full transparency and asked to make decisive actions to make the abuse entirely stop, which was happening both directly and indirectly through various creative means, timings, spaces in order to avoid "clear rule breakage", making it hard for anyone to directly "punish" it.
Around August, Admins responded "Use the report system to build a case". This was objected because the report system is extremely limited: it reviews single pieces of content, ad-hoc, hard to link to each other, especially in complex cases. Admins insisted in the same answer, they were approached again and copy-pasted the same response.
(Note: an "Actual Admin" once said that the Report System is apparently operated by different teams than "Actual Admins", such as Safety / AEO, which are likely more decoupled from Reddit HQ..)
Over the next 8 months, the report system was legitimately used: there are more than 80 verified instances of abuse, all willingly committed by Bad Actors. Some huge threads even counted as only 1 or 2 instances, despite going on for entire weeks. The harassers kept refuting everything, claiming "it's all false reports by an obsessed troll" since the very beginning. They only have 1 minor example to show which is deliberately framed as "false report" by overgeneralising, oversimplifying and omitting important context off - methods they have continuously used to twist reality.
The Bad Actors have primarily been reported for HARASSMENT (70+ instances) and REPORT ABUSE (10+ instances). They have deliberately submitted more than 10 False Reports clearly aimed to ban and silence whoever tried to bring the truth to light. The main target of the Bad Actors has been user "Agitated_Whereas8966" (AG) who has been wrongly suspended 3 times.
Here are many instances of Abusive False Reports submitted by the Bad Actors, in FULL context.
Also, here is a small number of mostly confirmed Harassment reports only up to September '22 , about 25 out of 70+.
The full timeline in detail and context with other remaining reports will be posted at a later time.

What happened with Reddit Admins?

Despite mountains of evidence that proves the guilt of the Bad Actors, Reddit Admins have been consistently silent, distant, making barely any actions, some of it entirely arbitrarily as they later proved through their absolute nonsense response around March, and even though Bad Actors kept committing abuse and new evidence coming to surface, in the end Admins kept punishing the victims and supporting the abusers.
AG was first wrongly suspended on September as a result of mass-false-reports made in retaliation by Bad Actors, right after their "founder and leader" was legitimately suspended for EXTREME HARASSMENT and Ban Evasion. AG's suspension was quickly reverted as it was the result of automation: mass-false-reports triggered some code.
AG was then again wrongly suspended on December after having sustained reams of abuse for months:
A new random account popped up that made very directed attacks against AG and berghain, kept making ridiculous claims and shifting all blame to the victims. This account was operated by the core group of Bad Actors, who are currently very active in another specific subreddit, but they constantly declined revealing who they are. They did that in order to commit extreme abuse while avoiding any infractions to their main accounts. And despite that account consistently committing extreme gaslighting over 2 entire weeks, reports kept returning negative and were only actioned in the very end… But some days after that, absurdly, AG was the one who got suspended. It took 1.5 months to get reinstated. In the meantime, Bad Actors kept trolling and violating berghain in many ways and literally twisted all of the above "temp mods" events as "comically their alliance broke very quickly and the troll alleged 'harassment'" - they wrote that the very "reason of existence" post of their subreddit no less.
Late January, AG made a public post briefly summarizing what has been happening all along, asking the bad actors to finally admit their wrongdoing and bring an end to all of this. The responses below were: "You're crazy, insane, you need professional help" etc. The worst one was an extremely contradictory comment by a sockpuppet account - attempting to describe what this account did unavoidably turns someone into looking like this… but here's the short version:
(Also in the topic of sockpuppet accounts, it is assumed that one of the mods in the specific rival sub was such an account that pretended to be real/separate and was used several times to "saintify" the main perpetrator in public comments, became their mod, the account likely remained inactive for 6+ months. When their sub was under risk/review they removed the account from mod, oddly stickied some triggering "suicide" post in its profile to repel any admins and called it a day. Interestingly the Bad Actors have called the recruitment of the temp mods in berghain as "done only to provide legitimacy to the subreddit"… while they had many alt accounts as mods that never did any mod action.)
Given all above, that January comment is complete nonsense: it implied AG is insane ("don’t know why you keep posting about this"), made ridiculous statements and repeated BA's abusive narrative ("your drama caused the death of the subreddit"), used vocabulary of the main perpetrator ("the new one was born") and entirely contradicted both this sockpuppet account and its owner, as well as the position itself ("this nonsense essentially ended the moment that subreddit was created"). And there are more condemning details, omitted due to size.
Question is: Why did the Bad Actors have to go through all this effort through alt accounts if they were right that they're supposedly "innocent" and "they were trolled by someone who made false reports"?
In February, Bad Actors kept sending messages to Admins with their false narrative, doubling down on abuse. They kept denying all wrongdoing, shifting ALL blame to AG as "insane obsessed troll", claiming the main perpetrator's suspension was "inappropriate" and blatantly lying: saying "he didn't know that ban evasion was against the rules" however the ringleader had already committed both Ban Evasion and Harassment with 3 alt accounts during Aug-Sep, before SENDING THIS to the moderator. What makes it even worse is that all Harassment he kept doing through his 3 alt accounts were of exactly the same type that got him banned from berghain in the first place: gaslighting and abusing AG. "Ban Evasion" can be tolerable if the user simply makes normal contributions but he literally kept doing the exact same extremely abusive actions, non-stop. He even posted this abomination right after he got suspended in September… everyone else's fault except his. More Context about that whole part can be found here.
The extremely absurd result: The main perpetrator got reinstated and AG got again wrongly suspended.
In his "I'm Back" post, the perpetrator avoided mentioning harassment - yet the reports that brought his suspension were for Harassment - it's very obvious by reading the threads linked above (More Context), specifically extreme sealioning and gaslighting.

The New Admin

Mid-February, a New Admin (hired end of '22) approached berghain with a message that claimed to "provide help" through something called "Community Builder Program" - that program's "help" is entirely simplistic and useless, as if targeting complete newbies to Reddit to help them with the most Basic platform features. Absolutely zero relevance to such a complex case - other than a calculated insult. He even sent this "builder" message twice, he also confirmed it was not automated.
The Admin claimed ignorance and asked "What are your issues?" - a very extensive summary was given, and additional messages as abusive events kept happening on the subreddits, a small example of indirect abuse being the rival sub adding a rule of "No Sealioning - whoever knows, knows", which is one of the abuse methods they consistently used, never admitted and never apologised about.
The Admin responded after 10 days with something short that barely made any sense at all. As if the Admin was responding by taking into account only the context given by the Bad Actors, Not the context given by AG. The admin's most absurd statement : "We see no evidence of them "manipulating" Safety or other people at reddit, the actions taken check out." This was the only response ever given by Admins currently employed by Reddit.
It is very evident that Admins only reviewed a small part of the case files, reports, content, even their own admin actions… and so on. Admins have only handled this case ad-hoc, in separate tickets as their workflow goes, Never consistently as "one case", despite being asked to do so countless times when the case was much smaller.
Over the next 2 months, at least 20 additional messages were sent to this specific admin's channel (and more to modsupport): a combination of existing evidence they overlooked, new evidence by new events but also new evidence by older events, such as the main perpetrator's abusive False Reports he did back around September, but were only found out and counter-reported in April.
That latest proof was the strongest of all - the main Bad Actor got AGAIN suspended for the #1 reason he kept shifting blame to others: False Reports in bad faith. BA's response: creation of a new account with the same name and an extremely abusive User Flair, visible to his entire community over a whole week, shifting blame to the "Obsessed Troll" yet again. And posts filled with lies in modsupport asking for his reinstatement.
The admins blindly reinstated the Bad Actor and made an incredibly violent action to entirely silence AG. From that point on, it's been obvious: the Admins are engineering actions to condemn and silence AG, also condemning the subreddit in favor of another one which was made in clear bad faith and competition, with its "birthpost" foundation being an extremely abusive post. The online Community is entirely controlled by the bad actors and apparently Admins will never look at the case again.

All in All

This is all still a short summary, about 30% of all that happened. Many parts that warrant another post of this size (e.g. temp mods) are already quickly skimmed over.
It is expected that this post will be falsely reported and removed, despite telling the truth. Due to size, this post does not even delve to the problematics of the subs' subject matter itself: berghain forums on Reddit.
The abusers' main narrative is "an obsessed troll destroyed the original subreddit, attacked people left and right, claims to be harassed by anyone who doesn't like, knows how to ban other accounts by manipulating the report system and is trying to destroy our small music subreddit with false reports". Pure, absolute nonsense. Their subreddit was literally built on abuse, slander and bad faith competition. The main perpetrator kept "advertising" his subreddit, bragging about "its success" and alleging that the victim of his countless abusive actions is "jealous of my sub's success". All about a sub that claims to be "The Berghain Community". They never admitted anything, only kept doubling down on abuse and gaslighting. Admins never properly reviewed the facts and never gave justice to the case.
Reddit is a capitalistic profit-driven platform. Reddit is NOT a safe space. Admins simply do not care, especially for small subs with complex cases. There is literally no support avenue for anything complex. There are many close supporters of Admins who will still claim "admins never take sides, they're never biased, they only follow protocol"… despite clear evidence to the contrary.
Admins were asked countless times to be open for a sincere dialogue - they never responded.
Other specific owners of private subs were asked many times to engage in sincere dialogue - they only responded at a certain time, under certain conditions, with a set agenda, in clear bad faith, derailed the "dialogue" on purpose and used the derailment itself to further incite slander and harassment in private subreddits.
Justice will prevail.

While the greed that is driving the recent changes to Reddit’s API pricing is appalling in itself, the lack of transparency, the deceit, and inability to see that 3rd party apps provide accessibility features that are otherwise absent from Reddit.com and the official app is unacceptable.

I have been a VERY active moderator across many subreddits, but this one is by far the fastest growing one I have started. Most people think it is just another doom scrolling time suck, which it is, but we are shaping our community to be more than just that. We are adamantly pro LGBTQ+ and pro accessibility. We have been very fortunate that we have not had many trolls or hate in our new community, but the upcoming changes to Reddits API prices will essentially lock out 3rd party apps and tools that other mods rely on to keep Reddit safe.

Cyclic models (Albert Einstein put some work into) suggest the universe always was, and always will be. Big Bang theory is for the inflation cycle only.
The behavior of matteenergy powers a coexisting trinity of self-similar “trial and error” learning systems at the molecular, cellular and multicellular level. This biologically intelligent process includes both human physical development from a single cell zygote that occurred over our own lifetime, and some 4 billion years of genetic development into human form.
We are this way part of and created by a molecular level learning process that keeps itself going through time by replicating previous contents of genetic memory along with best (better than random) guesses what may work better in the next replication, for our children. The resulting cladogram shows a progression of adapting designs evidenced by the fossil record where never once was there not a predecessor of similar design (which can at times lead to entirely new function) present in memory for the descendant design to have come from.
In the beginning of our genetic lineage: self-assembly of increasingly complex molecular (RNA) self-learning systems, caused the emergence of membrane enclosed self-learning cells, which caused the emergence of self-learning multicellular animals like us, humans. Along the way was a moleculagenetic level chromosome speciation event causing almost immediate reproductive isolation from earlier ancestors, a genetic bottleneck through one couple, who by scientific naming convention hereby qualify as Chromosome Adam and Eve.
In chromosome fusion speciation there is first a population of 47 chromosome ancestors, who from one of their parents still retained the normal unfused chromosome pair, for the cell to switch areas of on or off, when necessary to compensate for loss of gene function at the tangled fusion site of the other. Best of both worlds, to help make a chromosome fusion like ours a survivable change. There is next a generational population of 46's where one of the now reproductively isolated couples in it started the lineage that left the African forest tree paradise, all the rest of the lineages ultimately died off in. At the time there would have been a number of families giving birth to 46's who after maturing only needed to find each other. The fusion may have caused enough behavioral change for us to not want to live with the 48's anymore.
The question of "Why do organisms seek to survive?" is in pre-existing genetic and cell level "altruistic" and "survival/homeostasis" behavior being expressed in the behavior of our multicellular brain. From our cellular altruistic self-sacrifice and survival to keep our body alive, is an emergent sense of "morals" and "moral duty" that greatly differ, but all reduce to survival of a greater whole Just like cells do. Similarly well networked together cells communicate through ion channels to our sex cell production areas, to help epigenetically prepare future offspring to survive what their parents themselves experienced, especially diet. Before multicellular bacterial biofilms of many species inside toilet tanks wire up mutually beneficial ion channel linked networks that make all a part of the whole, sitting right behind you when using and never knew you had the company, with surprisingly good memory
To not fudge the all important question of afterlife, and better word for a scientific answer, we can conceptualize a pre-conscious at conception, and post-conscious after returning, to what becomes an in-between state of non-conscious. This accounts for the possibilities we can come back again in the future, go backwards, or (by in a way being the universe experiencing itself) the lifetime of everything multicellular that ever was and will be everywhere. This way theory does bit automatically rule out all other possibilities.

TRIAL-AND-ERROR LEARNING, MODEL FOR HOW INTELLIGENCE WORKS
Behavior from a system or a device qualifies as intelligent by meeting all four circuit requirements that are required for trial-and-error learning, which are:
(1) A body to control, either real or virtual, with motor muscle(s) including molecular actuators, motor proteins, speakers (linear actuator), write to a screen (arm actuation), motorized wheels (rotary actuator). It is possible for biological intelligence to lose control of body muscles needed for movement yet still be aware of what is happening around itself but this is a condition that makes it impossible to survive on its own and will normally soon perish.
(2) Random Access Memory (RAM) addressed by its sensory sensors where each motor action and its associated confidence value are stored as separate data elements. Examples include RNA, DNA, metabolic networks, brain cell networks.
(3) Confidence, a central hedonic system that increases the confidence level in motor actions every time they are successful, and decreases the confidence value of actions that cause an error in the system, fail. For computer modeling the normal range is 0-3. Molecular level examples include variable "mutation" rates of genes as in somatic hypermutation in white cells in response to sensing failure in successfully grab onto and destroying a given pathogen. Epigenetics helps control DNA changes to offspring.
(4) Ability to guess, take a new memory action when its associated confidence level becomes zero, or no memory yet exists for what is being sensed, experienced. For flagella powered cells a guess is produced by the reversing of motor direction, causing a “tumble” towards a new heading. In genetics there are random mutations, chromosome fusions and fissions.
In biology a 3 or so layer Artificial Neural Network memory addressing is mostly component location dependent, easy to have millions of sensory inputs. Digital RAM memory space exponentially increases by sensory address bus size, but still works very well when sensory is used wisely, as in the benchmark ID Lab 6.1 that has a wave propagated 2D spatial network map of where visible and (learned by bashing into or zapped by causing confidence in almost everything to go zero) invisible things are, at a given time, to control when it needs to guess a new motor action, in response to what is being sensed at that moment. This gave it intuitive foresight to wait behind the shock zone until the food became safe to approach, and other behaviors that once seemed impossible to simply code.
