2023.06.09 16:12 rollersky Why left-wingers should be in favour of Freedom of speech
An actor everybody is pretty much somewhat familiar with, Rowan Atkinson that plays Mr Bean recently made an about 10 minute press release speech and statement. It was directly concerning the freedom of the people of the United Kingdom to merely express themselves, to perform the very human act of communicating and sharing.
https://youtu.be/xUezfuy8Qpc The fact that the U.K is unfortunately by law a tyrannical state that dishes out criminal punishment to anyone who says anything anyone finds offensive, no literally they actually have laws that get you arrested for posting normal song lyrics and other mundane normal usage posts. It's from a recent yet slightly older law from 25 years ago, and it enables anyone to be charged with hate speech for saying or since the advent of social media posting anything anyone ever finds offensive.
I wish it were otherwise but unfortunately these authoritarian tyrannical laws are also present... in Australia and you have probably forgotten but they were on full display in Australia in 2019... when the Pharmaceutical companies became the wealthiest and most profitable companies on Earth... the same companies that sponsor Political Parties,... and Television advertisements,... Social Media companies (like the one your on now) and literally run the tests and produce all medical scientific papers (studies, theories, hospitals, physicians on payroll, fund entire hospitals and livelihoods... etc. etc.) The best example I can remember of the absolute tyranny Australia was under is a case whereby a pregnant women in Victoria was arrested for writing on a Facebook post that she was against lockdowns and supported the protests against them... the Police came and arrested her... for 'Hate Speech'... it luckily enough got picked up media companies (TV stories and articles). Luckily. So the police, after dragging this pregnant woman kicking and screaming out of her apartment (not exactly literally) let her go without charge. She was lucky. Very very lucky. And there is no way she should have had to have been 'lucky' for merely making a post on Facebook.
America simply does not have this problem as written into the very constitution as the 1st Amendment to their constitution by the founding fathers in all of their wisdom, intelligence, good faith and if your religious like they where, filled with divine enlightenment wrote it such that the Government in America has no ability to write any law to restrict people's rights to express themselves (Freedom of Speech), restrict the press (because back then they lacked smart phones, social media and all modern technology, which should be obvious but perhaps it is not and is difficult for people today to even begin to imagine life back then despite it being very loosely similar to today's world) and finallu restrict people's religious freedoms (written in reverse order to this because they were all wise God loving, humble, noble and brave men.
America's 1st Amendment is the only Freedom of Speech law written into its very constitution in the entire world, it is the reason that America is referred to as 'Land of the Free' and the second part of that phrase, 'Home of the Brave.'. As for protests, peaceful assembly had always been constitutionally protected, not violent assembly so riots and revolution is still very much illegal and is met with lethal counter force every time. [As a side note, if peaceful assembly fails to prevent America becoming a Tryrannical State, then the 2nd Amendment is the fail-safe. As the wisdom of the founding fathers literally argued and intendeded]
Australia does not have that phrase and frankly I feel that every Australian that knows that, feels a deep unspoken, subconscious shame over that fact and far more importantly that all Australians simply do not have the constitutional right to even speak their minds freely, as every human being alive desires.
As Rowan Atkinson stated 'Hate Speech' is not real. It is a term used to silence, censor and remove power from whomever those in power disagree and dislike or are offended by. There are seemingly endless examples from history of the evil deeds of enactment of those disliked by existing powers for example, Galileo (ostracised and persecuted by the church and all religious folk for merely stating he believed that the sun was the center of the Galaxy and not the Earth), Nikola Tesla (defamed by the work of Tomas Edison and countless people trying to claim his inventions as their own by way of patent theft and lies for the purpose of advertising like don't by an American organisation NPR over the discovery of radio), (Jesus Christ himself by his crucifixion by my Ancestors, the Romans) and as the last example, the NAZI's by locking up any intellectuals that disagreed or dared critisize any of their doctrine and propoganda, their torture of anyone condemned for death by way of countless sadistic and grotesque torture methods, and some though quite few, for scientific discovery purposes, their burning of the books followed in time by bodies, and lastly their brutal slaughter of the Jews, no evidence of wrongs but only stirring words and speeches from their beloved demagogue, Adolf Hitler and gigantic amounts of absolute propoganda distributed to the masses, orchestrated by NAZI Propoganda Chief Joseph Goebbels and his team. (Which every highschool student should have, though potentially didn't, have already learned from Highschool History class, at least in every Public School, Private Schools may be permitted a different curriculum.) Offensive caused by speech has only 1 solution. More Free speech, Rowan Atkinson a famous actor that has probably more wealth than this entire subreddit conveyed this message, and it would seem as an absolute truth as far as I can tell.
I have written this in hopes of sparking and pasing wisdom and knowledge into whoever needs to have read this. And hopefully you will pass this type of message on yourself from now on. Australia needs the Right of Freedom of Speech written into its very constitution. As demonstrated during COVID19 it needed it years ago but now even more than ever.
And to those that would say it will do nothing but allow mass disinformation, manipulation and mislead people, I would say this, history has proven you absolutely dead wrong on that statement and sentiment, the only solution to offense from speech is more Free Speech and if you silence, censor or try more modern trends of the same kind known as deplatforming or cancelling, then all you do, all you achieve, everything you are trying to stop will only be made stronger, more resilient and more popular then ever before. As examples, take Jesus Christ, he has the Roman equivalent of being hung drawn and quartered, he was crucified, publicly executed like a lamb to the slaughter to send a message of absolute obedience being required to the rest of the herd. Yet because of that Christianity exploded and has been far more viral than COVID19 or any viral video has ever been to date. And for modern times look at Tucker Carlson, deplatformed by pressure from Pharmaceutical companies, lawsuits from shitty voting machine companies and pathologically idealogically fanatic ex employees in lawsuits. Tucker Carlsons show on Fox was the most popular show on Fox News and it drew in about 2 million people every night to watch it... after he was fired... is now getting 35+ million on the regular after he started up on Twitter. I do so imagine that actuall that will be an understatement in the coming future as currently he's on his 2nd episode ever. The 'Streisand Effect' in full unbridled, unstoppable force.
Every Australian deserves the right to express themselves freely, meaning free of all Government persecution and all possible Government and legal persecution. This is and has always been a left wing idea, as the rule of Tyrants; Dictators, kings Pharaohs, Caesar's, Shoguns, Kahns, Lords, Nobles Knights and Emperors have always, always been majority perpetuated by people with conservative temperaments, whereas free thinkers, creative and imaginative people are the minority of people perpetuating the rule of Tyrants.
We here in Australia critisize China for authoritarianism and tyranny when there is weakness in our own ranks. 'Those in glass houses should not throw stones' - some famous person', 'never lay cannonfire on your enemy with a glass cannon' -me. Western countries, especially our home Australians true colours, true laws and beliefs of of people were broadcaster for the world to see during covid. And they paint a very dark authoritarian picture of our nation to the world, something China is more than smart enough to take advantage of... and much to our chagrin they are and have been since Covid ended for us. Chinese propoganda, their Television Channels, all Chinese State OWNED... all of them constantly bring up how Australia, England and America all were even worse if not just as bad as China was during Covid19, and as the best and most convincing propoganda always is... its harrowingly mostly true. (Only, partly mostly thankfully) but domestic Chinese TV isn't the most important propoganda outlet taking the easy win by using our sins in their propoganda... no, that would be the Confucius Institute in Australian Universities. China's unelected ruling communist party (communist in name only these days, just a full bull authoritarian tyranny is their ideology nowadays) main propoganda outlet in Australia is a Chinese University group called the Confucius Institute (I could be wrong about the name and I've spent too long writing this to be bothered to look it up). They target young, impressionable Chinese men and women when they are studying abroad in Australia's universities, our most popular young adult Chinese attraction, I dare say, maybe even 'Global young adult Asian attraction' as I once met a man from Tibet who said exactly that in a course I had to take for my construction job (white card). The Confucius Institute goal is promote CCP propoganda via demonising the way Australia and all Western countries are so that as few young people ever believe in the ideals of Democracy and want to return to China, such that the CCP can perpetuate its tyrannical rule over China forever. Idealogically brainwash 'loose ends' - Mafia Terminology if you understand. They thanks to what happened to Australia under the Lib/Nats Coalition 2019 to late 2022 they distribute and spread half truths about Australia and countless other lies about every part and aspect of life in Australia as well as pay members of their organisation to organise pro China protests, (sign holders and chanters) in Australian Universities, footage of this circulated sparsely in Australian media and articles during 2014-2018 roughly though probably a bit before too. They actively seek out and target specifically ethnically Chinese and often try to emotionally blackmail them, incite fear into them, speak exclusively their propoganda to then and rarely but almost certainly literally blackmail them using the threat of violence, torture and death of their families back in China. Naturally there's no direct evidence of that claim except for Chinese Father and Husband in England that was blackmailed (husband of high ranking shipping Port official wife) they abducted his wife and child and forced the wife read a script to the husband over the phone (utilised emotional and physical blackmail and just directly veiled and unveiled threats, I recommend you look up interviews from the husband) and if you look up the articles of the Confucius Institute from IDK 2011-2018 and have the ability to interpret from what the articles found you can tell the Confucius Institute, only has 1 purpose, to try and perpetuate the CCP's rule of China and stop and protest against their rule, specifically stopping Tiananmen Square type protests from ever happening again. The Tianamen Square Massacre was a global well known proverbial black eye to China that severely hampered every nation's diplomatic relations with China for close to half a century, and the CCP didn't like that as even Tyrants love swimming in money, also the CCP loves stealing technology through trade espionage, China's MAG Lev trains and their entire car industry is built off stolen technology from Western companies dumb enough to deal with companies owned by the CCP. Naturally the Chinese who have been or are being 'convinced' by the Confucius Institute are always the biggest promoters of Anti Freedom ideas, especially the death of Freedom of Speech via hate speech crime laws such as: incitement of violence laws (Victoria mainly), offensive Tweets, Facebook Posts, Instagram Posts,,, Goddamn Reddit posts all hopefully being made illegal and the Liberals God awful rich persons almost exclusive digital world referee, The new E-Safety Commisioner. And like all the God awful Tyrant Commissioner's from TV shows and books if the E-Safety commisoner ever... EVER gets in the hands of the Liberals again it will be used against the normal people of Australia to beat the collective will of normal free thinking Australian's to the ground if not to death. Only complete dumbass Liberal Supporters usually dumb beer drinking sky news watchers (usually fossils) and Young Adult Chinese University Students support ANY of the laws and speech referees I just mentioned.
Again please war h the video I linked at the tiop and if the Politcal State of the U.K interests you for whatever reason then I recommend: Count Dankular (his second channel) the first person in Scottish History tried and found guilty of 'Hate Speech'... from a freakin comedy video. Where he's mocking the very thing they charged him for supporting [funny pug salute video as a direct hint]), Jonathan Pie (excellent wit, fantastic satirist and insult wordsmith wizard, also very yelly, I like him) and lastly Jordan Shanks himself, the namesake of this subreddit, FriendlyJordies. Whenever he actually gets round to covering the U.K his analysis is excellent.
Also a guy from YouTube channel Sargon of Akkad though... fair warning, his videos are really boring but he is quite very articulate.
All Australians deserve the Right of Freedom of Speech. And unfortunately, on Reddit in particular I see far too many Tyrannical Speech Law sympathisers which I personally find truly disgusting and as much as I hate the authoritarian ideas you spout, I will defend your right to say and spread them. If your a real FriendlyJordies fan or agree with his ideas and rhetoric than I already know you support all Australians Right of 'Free Speech'.

Want to make sure I document the journey, and keep myself honest, so each month I will be making a post about the statistics, progress, some thoughts and what are the next steps I want to be focusing on.
While the main purpose for the post is to bring everyone along on the journey, I do think that members of
DataAnalysis might benefit from the site, especially those looking for a new data analyst job. I'd also love to engage with people on the sub who'd like to share their data analyst career journey.
If it's not something that belong here, have absolutely no issues to take the post down and / or keep the updates to a different subreddit.
So, just a reminder that early stages vision is to become the #1 job board for data analysts - hand-picking interesting data analyst job opportunities across industries.

1. General Observations
Stats
DataAnalyst.com has been online for just over 5 months and we've brought over 1,250 hand curated data analyst jobs onto the site - all of them including a salary range.
There's now 1,200+ people subscribed to the newsletter, and I can't thank you enough for your support and for joining us on the journey.
While in April the site grew to just over 5,000 monthly visitors across 26,000 pageviews, in May we've been able to cross the 5,000 visitors yet again, with over 28,000 pageviews - not only that, we registered approximately 4,500 data analyst applications being started from the site!
Additionally, I've also had multiple people reaching out, both in comment section of my previous updates, but also in DMs, sharing that they have found the site to be extremely useful in their job search, and that they were able to get interviews and onboard new roles through the site - I absolutely love this, and even if the venture doesn't end up being commercially successful, I'm super happy to hear that it has indeed helped people when needed.
Google impressions are over 50% up, albeit the amount of people clicking through to the site remained flat.
On the positive note - the site has finally ranking for all the major target keywords:
"data analyst jobs / data analyst job / data analyst / data analytics jobs"
Pumped about this, as having multiple channels is crucial to long term growth and protecting the site and traffic from algorithm updates.
Things that happened
a) Expired Listings - There's feedback regarding some of the jobs on the site already expiring and leading to non-existing listings. I am trying to come up with a solution where visitors would be able to upvote/downvote and thus highlighting status for everyone else. For now, I went through job listings and marked those roles no longer open as "Expired".
b) Product Hunt launch - Early last month I decided to share DataAnalyst on Product Hunt. The idea wasn't necessarily to try and rank up to the top, but mainly get the site out there, and gain a backlink from ProduntHunt that's going to help the site's authority. Overall the voting process is extremely cumbersome, but we did end up with 36 upvotes which was more than I expected.
Expecting a summer slump
With summer, there's typically very little hiring happening / it's extremely slow as people are taking well deserved time off. I'm expecting activity on the site to decrease, and my main goal for this period is getting together a plan of action to start reaching out to companies in Q4 and Q1, educate them about the site, the value proposition and hopefully get a few partnerships on the books.
What that will look like, I honestly have no idea, but experiment, iterate and go again.
Some of you may have noticed that I've also recently launched
BusinessAnalyst.com - where I'm looking to replicate step by step what I've done over the last 5 months with DataAnalyst. The overall idea is to create a network of sites, benefiting from the same infastructure, serving and helping different career paths, and making a collaboration with organisations much more appealing (afterall, most companies who hire for data analysts also look for business analysts and vice versa). Arguably, this might not make much sense seeing that DA still hasn't brought any revenue in, but on the other hand, I can reuse the whole tech stack and structures already in place, halve my cost per project, while doubling the surface area to catch me some luck. Anyways, how this will work out is a case study for another time.
2. The Salary Guide
On a monthly basis, we've been utilising the data available to developing and sharing Market Insights - a deep dive into the data analyst job market, where we can have a look at the job openings and provide you all with insights on the latest hiring trends in the United States.
With these insights I'm trying to bring answers to questions such as: Which industries are hiring the most? Are we seeing any salary increases? And what about the remote working trend?
With that in mind, I'm excited to share that the first five months of insights were consolidated, and
the Salary Guide has now been published.
The data analyst salary guide provides the overview of salaries in various industries - and now also shows a more detailed view on each industry page, with a deep dive into how much entry level, senior and lead data analysts can earn depending on their experience.
This is only based on job opportunities on the site, and no external data sources are utilised. The plan is to have it updated quarterly, with the next update in September.
For the US, we've also released the May edition of Market Insights, you can see the full report
here. 3. "Day in the Life" - a series of interviews with data analysts sharing their experience, thoughts and advice.
The third interview from our series has been published. In these interviews, we aim to share stories and experiences about the route to becoming a data analyst, keeping up with the skillset, recommendations to aspiring data analysts and much more.
Tisha, who is a data analyst at Tesla, has shared some fantastic insights, and I'd love to highlight couple of my favourite quotes from the interview.
On what she loves about being a data analyst:
"For me, the most exciting aspect of being a data analyst is the opportunity to unlock meaningful insights from vast amounts of data. I enjoy the challenge of uncovering patterns, identifying trends, and translating complex data into actionable recommendations. The ability to make a tangible impact on business outcomes and help organizations drive growth is incredibly rewarding." On her advice for those aspiring to enter the industry, she shares 6 points that everyone should focus on:
- Acquire a strong foundation in SQL. This is an essential tool for data analysis and manipulation.
- Familiarize yourself with data analytics tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Alteryx. Demonstrating proficiency in these tools can enhance your employability.
- Seek out internships, projects, or volunteer opportunities where you can gain hands-on experience with real-world datasets and analytical challenges.
- Continuously enhance your skills by staying updated with the latest trends and best practices in the field. Online courses, webinars, and industry conferences can be valuable resources.
- Showcase your skills and projects through a portfolio or personal website. This allows potential employers to see your capabilities and the impact you can make.
- Network with professionals in the data industry through events, online communities, and LinkedIn. Building connections can lead to valuable opportunities and mentorship.
We've also touched upon the Question of the Year: Is AI/Chat GPT a threat to data analysts?
Highly recommend reading the
full interview. Things in the pipeline
- New data analyst jobs, added daily
- Actually launching the weekly newsletter with the pick of best jobs directly to your inbox (yes, I know....)
- Monthly US data analyst market insights
- Improving the overall site experience (this one is a never ending activity)
- Continuing to bring you Data Analysts across their experience levels, to share tips, tricks and their thoughts
- Keep breaking a feature that would allow visitors to report an expired job posting
3 ways you could help
- Looking for a new challenge? Check out the website - I'm adding new jobs daily
- Looking to hire a data analyst to your team? Do you know anyone looking to hire? Shoot me a message on Reddit (or [email protected]) and I'll upgrade your first listing for free!
- As I mentioned, we have an ongoing "Day of a Data Analyst" series. For those of you who are open to do an email based interview about your data analyst career journey, please just send me a message and we'll organise something - would love to get you featured and share your experience with our readers!
If you have any questions, concerns, come across glitches - please just reach out, happy to chat.
Thank you all again, and see you in a month.

2023.06.09 16:11 zuzu_ludgate Re-introduction through breast milk
Coming up on 8 months of dairy, soy free, and still breastfeeding. LO is just starting g to show some interest in solid foods but our GI is of the camp that recommends I do the milk ladder first before LO does. I was never totally convinced he had a dairy intolerance but am fairly certain there’s a soy intolerance - I tried eating bread made with soybean oil recently and gave him some too and the spit up increased.
So, for those who reintroduced milk through breast milk, what did you eat and for how long before moving to the next thing? I started with Annie’s cheddar bunnies that we have on hand for older sibling and have been eating increasingly larger handfuls once daily for the next past week.

2023.06.09 16:10 proximuse my sister keeps saying she wants to kill herself but i know as well as anyone that i can't call 911 for her or admit her to a psych ward that's just going to make it worse
i'm 23, my sister is 30. i live in europe and she lives in the north-east of the US and there's very little i can do from here.
first off i don't blame her. from living paycheck to paycheck to handling everything about adulthood on her own with people who don't give a shit about her, she's been passively suicidal for pretty much her whole life, but over the past few years she's lost so much. two of her childhood pets that were the only things that gave her true comfort, about whom she joked a whole lot in their old age that she'd kill herself when both of them died.
well, last year was the year it happened. this was after already losing a close friend she was on bad terms with at the time to a housefire, and after losing our cousin to a brain hemorrhage. among others. but she hung on. she was posting about missing them daily, and that remained her coping mechanism. and in the middle of that existing grief, her best friend, the only friend she had that was loyal enough to drop everything on a dime and be with her in person when she needed it, the only friend that truly listened, suddenly died in a motorcycle accident.
one after the other after the other, before she could ever recover from the previous deaths. she's dealing with not only grief, but guilt that she could've been there and done something to save her. this is the last nail in the coffin. my mom, who moved back to the state to be with her in her grief, says she talks about killing herself every day. when i checked in with her, the first thing she said to me was "honestly sissy, i just want to die." when i asked her to promise me to at least hold on until i could come visit her later in the summer, she said "i'm sorry, but i can't. i can promise i'll try. but i can't promise. i'm tired. it's too much."
and i don't blame her. she's been fucked over by so many people, and she's lost countless others. the society she lives in doesn't make it any better.
and here's why i decided to post this in this sub rather than in off my chest or any other mental health community: no matter who i vent to about this, they all say the same thing. call 911. get her involuntarily committed, she's a danger to herself. she needs professional help.
she's been 51/50'd before, and it didn't fucking help. she maintains to this day that she's grateful to absolutely no one for "saving her life" at the time, because the way they treated her in that glorified prison ended up making shit worse for her. the entire 72 hour hold she just wanted OUT and eventually she played the game of pretending she felt better so they stopped surveying her like a hawk.
she also cannot financially afford to be locked up and drugged like that against her will. the police don't know how to handle suicidal people besides handcuffing and treating them like criminals, which is what happened the last time someone called 911 for her. while i can admit that some psych wards are better than others, the ones in her vicinity are all abusive and do more harm than good.
so i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. she says she needs IN PERSON comfort. talking about it or having calls with loved ones does nothing, and she's being overworked to hell at her job and gets max 4 hours of sleep per night with a 4 hour roundtrip commute.
i'm trying to come to terms with the fact that it's her life and she's autonomous when it comes to what she can or can't handle. i've seen first hand how bad luck has targeted her and if i were in her position i probably would've offed myself a long time ago. but now it feels like i'm existing on an inhale, expecting that at any moment i'll get a message or a call that she's gone.
all i can do is scrounge up enough money over the next few months to come visit so i can be with her physically (which is the only thing she needs right now), but i don't know if she has that much time. with her job keeping her away from home 18 hours a day, i feel all it takes is one more thing to go wrong for her to impulsively swerve the wheel during the commute and it'll be over. i can't be present to make sure that doesn't happen.
so i don't know. i've had this sick feeling for a long, long time that i can't see her making it past 35 and i'm pretty sure she feels the same about herself. i'm stuck between respecting her decision if she goes through with it and anticipating a crushing guilt that there's something i could've done to prevent it. but there's nothing else to do that won't make it worse. i feel so horrible for her. and so helpless

2023.06.09 16:10 throwawaytinyllama Opening up my relationship questions
Me (26f) and my partner (27m) have been together for 6/7 years now. I’ve the last few years I have noticed my libido dropping massively but when another person sparks my interest and flirts with me my sex drive shoots up and I generally have a better time with my partner.
Anyway, I have come to realise I am interested in an open relationship and I think if I were enjoying the company of other people I would be more aroused regularly and have more sex with my partner. The sex I have with my partner is very loving, comfortable, tender, and he knows me inside and out. But there are certain things we don’t do together, rough play etc because it’s not his bag. I would love to experience that with someone else.
My partner struggles to understand this because for him, I am enough. Which I struggle to understand because for example, he loves to give oral and I hate receiving it. I always feel a pressure to allow this to happen but if he had someone else to do this with I wouldn’t feel that pressure. (But what he wants or doesn’t want to do is his prerogative, I am happy if he does or does not want to have another partner)
Throughout our discussions his main concerns are
- What if I leave him for someone else. Which I can’t imagine, I have never met anyone in this entire world quite as incredible as him. How can I ease this feeling?
- What if he can’t get over the thought of me being with another person? I would say this is the biggest one, I think he sees it as dirty. Does anyone have any reading suggestions or advice on handling this?
We’ve been discussing this for two or three days now and we’ve been brutally honest with each other which has felt amazing and sort of arousing. I really hope we can work this out.

I’m going to the same concert we went to last year, with someone else. I cannot stop thinking of how badly I miss you. The last 6 months have been absolute hell.
I know if you wanted to talk to me you would. I know if you wanted to see me .. you would.
I hate that I felt so enamored by you and afraid of falling that I froze up and ruined everything. I know it doesn’t look like it to the outside world, but I miss you every single day. I imagine it was easy for you to just shut the door and never looked back.
I don’t know why I thought we had such a great connection. I must have just imagined it all in my head. I don’t know why I thought you were different and I don’t know why I still think of you even when I am supposed to be in love with someone else. I don’t know why I am so addicted to how you made me feel when I was with you.
You told me once a girl in college broke your heart - it was only three months and it ruined you for a long time. I think you passed that curse of unrequited love on to me.
I hope someday you can at least communicate in some way and tell me what the hell happened so I can close this book and stop wondering.

2023.06.09 16:09 anxious-wreck For those with Cyclothymia, how long do your mood swings last?
I tend to notice that sometimes I've had elevated mood for weeks or months and then the depressive episodes can last weeks or months too. Are yours like, lasting a couple of days/weeks/months? Curious.
I'm trying new medication (lithium) and let's see how it goes.

2023.06.09 16:09 EternallyTidus A Fate Written Before Time - FF8 VW Ultima Weapon cap team - Dark element
Hello everyone :)
I finally managed to cap today myself and thought I'd share my setup. Upfront: I had been toying around with other ideas but finally went with the one
u/Chipofthehead69 used which was based on one
u/Resnaught shared. I never looked at any videos though so I'm not sure how similar my setup really is :)
I do not have the World Ender VC, am using 2x Sweet Friendship VCs though. If you do not have said VCs the team can still work but you'll have to adapt (-> chain Olive's SLB with Esther's LB on the kill turn; Rinoa's damage will suffer quite a bit though). The World Ender VC makes this a whole lot easier.
Team gear: https://imgur.com/a/sqxKldn Ilmatalle - passive provoke + evade, a source of Nethicite, paralysis resistance; doesn't really matter how you achieve that, it's easy. EX level doesn't matter either.
Ibara - base form needs some help with MP as she will be using Bardarkja A LOT. BS form is just pure LB damage against machines. Mine is EX+2 (lvl 130).
Esther - now here's a build I never thought I'd share. Let me explain: Her base form is built to squeeze out the last bit of damage I could find. She did ~50 million which is... something (especially when you miss the cap by 32 million :> ). Her BS form is built specifically to have enough Spr to manage the incoming damage (my setup takes a little over 4k damage total). Both forms have at least 100% earth resistance.
Rinoa - base form Zidane's STMR + full LB fill (12 stones + as much LB fill rate as you can). BS form full magic damage against machines with Diabolos equipped. Mine is EX+1, her mag stat doesn't reflect properly on the builder (it's 1.5k too high, maybe counting the weapons twice?).
Dark Rain - laziest unit in this team. Full LB damage against machines.
Olive - full magic damage against machines.
While equipping for damage, the order of importance is Ibara > Rain > Rinoa > Olive.
Turn by turn:
Turn | Ibara | Rain | Ilmatalle | Rinoa | Esther | Olive | Boss actions | Seals needed |
1 | 3x Bardarkja | Guard | Power to Destroy Nethicite | I wanted to go with you! | (Start in BS) Electromagnetic Shield + Storm Guardian + Energizing Bunny | Brilliant Splash | AoE Gravity (seal/reflect); 2x AoE Phys; 1x Fixed AoE Magic damage | 1 |
2 | 3x Bardarkja | Guard | Power to Destroy Nethicite | Singing | Base LB | Brilliant Splash | AoE Gravity (seal/reflect); 1x AoE earth magic (reflect); 1x AoE Phys; 1x ST Phys | 1 |
3 | 3x BS chain | 3x BS chain | Power to Destroy Nethicite | Singing | 3x BS chain (in base form) | Whipped Cream Garden | 2x ST Phys; 1x AoE non-elem Mag (seal), dispel (seal) | 2 (or 1 and get dispelled) |
4 | Bardarkja + Wish of Vengeance + Endarkga (after Rinoa) | Guard | Power to Destroy Nethicite | Base LB | BS LB | Guard | AoE Gravity (seal/reflect); 1x AoE earth magic (reflect); 1x AoE Phys; 1x Fixed AoE Magic damage | 1 |
5 | Base LB | One and Only Ruler | Power to Destroy Nethicite | Summon Diabolos | Power to Destroy Nethicite | SLB | AoE Gravity (seal/reflect); 1x AoE Phys; 2x ST Phys; 1x AoE non-elem Mag (seal) | 2 |
6 | Bardarkja + Anun + Tsukiyo | Elemental Burst - Dark + 2x Magic Boost+ | 2x Machina Rune II (Olive + Rinoa) | BS LB | Power to Destroy Nethicite | Breaks + killers + Fire Cannon Fire | AoE Gravity (seal/reflect); 2x AoE Phys; 1x Fixed AoE Magic damage | 1 |
7 | BS LB | SLB | 2x Machina Rune II (Ibara + Rain) | 4x Apocalypse | Whipped Cream Garden | Whipped Cream Garden | | |
I hope that's readable when I'm done...
Three specific things I want to mention:
I willingly take the dispel on turn 3. I don't have anything up at that point that I need and it removes the earth imperil, making Esther's build easier.
I did all of this without macros. Turn 3 is my 100 chain turn, it's 3x triple BS + 1x quad BS, I never failed that. BS chains still the single best thing Gumi ever brought to the game. And as for timing Rinoa's Apocalypses: Count to four while she casts/flashes, then back down from 5 in the same rhythm (so 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 0). Send Olive/Esther at 0, then Rain/Ibara right after. That way Rinoa's first hit lands around ~20 hits on the chain and the last one right at the end. It took me two or three tries to figure out the timing and it was pretty easy from there.
This does rely on variance. It took me exactly 20 tries to get a 18.47b roll (18.03b needed). Before that, I did have a 17.99b roll, too. So there is some leeway in the damage requirements but not a lot and any worse builds than the featured ones mean you'll need more luck.
If anyone has any questions on that, feel free to ask.
I hope this helps some more people cap this for the sweet 10k Lapis price :)

2023.06.09 16:08 thkt6475 They keep setting up another relationship behind the scenes, ridiculously hurtful
I’ve had two long term relationships, each 3 years long, and after that two that lasted around 6 months each. The three recent breakups were pretty rough, all of them had set up a relationship behind the scenes with another guy, whether it be a new guy they’ve recently met or an ex boyfriend of theirs. The first absolutely ruined me, bad nightmares, hardly ate, lost loads of weight and was just constantly miserable for about 6 months. I got through that rough patch, was happier and met another girl that I fell head over heals for, fast forward 6 months later… I move her out to her new apartment - worked like a dog, and 2 days later she dumps me and goes straight back to her toxic ex - again, I’m heartbroken, back to square one and a walking ball of depression. So once more, I get through it, I’m happy again, I meet another woman, this time older than me by 4 years (I’m 26, she’s 30 ish) so you’d think more mature and hopefully more morals, but once more, I was dropped after 6 months for her to “work on herself” - which turned into her getting back with her ex (that she’d never mentioned before).
I just feel like this is relentless, this generation is just quick snap onto the next one, so many people (likely myself now too) are dealing with demons caused from being mistreated in the past, how many times will have to go through a phase of dealing with these losses, my confidence plummets every time even tho I may not show it, I want someone genuine to come along, I’ve even tried to date people with varying personalities. I’m not going for the same severely insecure girl every time, I’ve tried to limit the poor decisions I could potentially make.

2023.06.09 16:08 Flaming20 This subreddit should be called critical fans of critical role
I a new listener to critrole starting in season 3, it's great! It feels like a full story that no one except Mercer knows where it's going. ( It's like charlie in the chocolate factory on that boat).
So I come onto the reddit expecting fan theories and favorite characters or backstories, etc. But almost half is just random criticisms that seem super minor and overly mean. Like their playing a game of lore chicken? I mean yeah a bit but that's how you make a series last this long you don't just lore dump in 20 episodes.
Idk I just wanna see more love in this subreddit.

2023.06.09 16:08 shortstory1 Are you sure technology has made things faster?
Are you sure my boy that technology had made things faster? Because I don't think so. Technology hasn't made anything faster and this argument of our is making me feel tiresome. I suggest a race, I will send a letter which will have our address on it, and you should send an email to your friend. We will see which is faster by seeing whether the letters gets delivered first or your friend replying to your email. I do not think technology has made things faster, and it is only an illusion that technology gives that it has made things faster.
My second boy troy, have you aborted your child? Because like I have said before your child will become an evil dicator. Troy gives me excuses like he can't find the pregnant woman that is holding his child, but he is close to finding her. He has gone to place where she was last seen and his child must be aborted or the whole world will be in trouble. Troy must do it and he does get second thoughts about it but I crush them and set him right, in the right direction. Troy must do it or else all is lost.
Then my eldest son who sent the email to his friend to see which is faster, hasn't had a reply yet and I have had the letter posted to my house. I had won and I had proven to him that technology hasn't made anything faster but rather it has given the illusion that things are faster. My eldest son is in disbelief and doesn't seem to understand how this was even possible, I keep on laughing and he sends out more emails to his friend but here I am waving the letter that i had sent out and has come back, beating the email my son had sent.
Troy my second eldest son comes back to me and tells me that his son, that should have been aborted, has been born. So now in each place that he goes to, he ordered every baby boy to be slaughtered in the chance that it is his baby boy that should be aborted, to prevent evil. I advise him how unwise that is and babies that he ordered to die, in trying to find his son, will not be able to enter the other world, until his child is killed.
My eldest son, goes to his friends house and sees the front door open and observes that his friend and his family have been killed. He quickly realises I had done this is a lesson about technology, technology is only fast as the other person controlling it. My son tells me that i cheated by killing his friend and family, and that's why I made that challenge. He is right.

2023.06.09 16:08 supersoakergalaxy 20F and 19M in love and in a rough situation. What should I do? or we?
Hi everyone, I am(20) in desperate need of advice. Last year I met this guy (19) who seemed to be great, I mean off the bat the chemistry was amazing. Unfortunately how we met had little to nothing to do with morale. He did have a girlfriend at the time but they were long distance and on the brink of separation. I also had a partner but this was a domestic violence relationship hard to escape from. Yeah I know how it goes, you lose them how you get them blah blah blah. So we made the decision to seperate from our previous partners because we discussed and made it clear we had grown more and more attracted to each other on the daily basis. I mean with every conversation, touch, quality time, dance and exchange, it was like there was just this irresistible force between us that couldn’t be broken. Not too long after we were beginning to establish the seriousness of our relationship, he had to move to New York with his father to get his life back together and get on his feet. I let him know that I am not into long distance relationships and while he’s up there he could do his thing, since we’re both young and still foolish. For about 8 months he stayed gone and as soon as he came back, I was the first person he came to see. It was almost like he was back like he never left and the chemistry remained the same. After a few weeks arguments were being had because I was going through a rough time and I felt like he wasn’t there like I felt he needed to be. To be fair, we both have strict parents and jobs to work so the was rarely time for us to talk about my issues, but he did the best he could with our schedules. Little did I know, he was going through a rough patch at home as well, he just wasn’t willing to communicate the way I would about his living situation because of his pride. His mother kicked him out and now he lives with a random girl from tinder. He’s sleeping with her and helping pay her rent and he’s let me know he’s not in love with her. Recently she found our chats in one of his phones and was upset, but she didn’t kick him out. I didn’t want him on the streets so I just didn’t say anything plus I don’t know her and I don’t want to bust her bubble because I don’t like mess. He is staying there until he gets back on his feet and gets his own place but for now that’s the situation he’s in. I am somewhat okay with it because I’m about to go into the military but in the other hand I just don’t feel like he needs to live like that if he’d just learn to communicate with the people around him. I only wish for him to confide in me as I did him but it’s something about his pride that just won’t let him. I really need advice because I love this man with my heart and I want better for him, but at the same time I want to know if this is a waste of time. I don’t want to move onto somebody and easter their time when I know I’m not over him. We are just two young adults in love trying to figure it out step by step. I wish I would have heard him out more when he told me about his mother (who is Jamaican by the way) She was taking all of his money that he earned himself, showing up to his jobs and taking his phone, constantly yelling about things that were already done. Just a lot of bad energy from her and he’d always remain respectful to her. I understand he needed to get out but I just don’t think it was the right way.

2023.06.09 16:07 kristi_nix Vanessa, Xander, Yoli, Mal & the distancer-pursuer game
As someone who has experienced commitment issues an ended up in therapy, I'd like to share some personal insights related to Vanessa and Xander and an unhealthy relationship cycle my therapist called the "distancer pursuer game". This is long, bear with me. Often, a person with commitment issues tends to attract others with commitment issues. As an example, I'd like to share a bit of my personal experience. When I was in my early 20s this manifested in a relationship similar to what Xander and Yoli seemed to experience with Vanessa and Mal. I also issued an ultimatum, which was unsuccessful and we broke up (without the painful experience of a reality TV show appearance thankfully). From there I went on to find a new love interest, who invited me to move to Europe with them for a year long adventure trip, very exciting. However, when my ex-partner heard about this, they were suddenly inspired to love bomb me and dropped the long awaited proposal. Foolishly, I accepted. We married. it didn't work out. Years later, I found myself in a similar relationship with another partner who didn't want to commit. Confused and hurting, I went to a therapist to understand why I was locked into a pattern of some sort Ultimately, I learned that it wasn't all about my partners who wouldn't commit. I was attracted to these relationships because I wasn't ready for commitment either. I was trapped in a cycle of distancing myself or pursuing a partner who was distancing themselves from me, this is where the go away-come closer game comes in. According to my therapist, the distancer pursuer game happens when two people either consciously or unconsciously need to distance themselves from a love interest. They may not feel safe. Things may be too intense, or they may fear getting their heart broken again. Sometimes, a partner doesn't want to fully commit pretends to just be "confused" constantly. What often happened for me in this unhealthy cycle is I'd find myself chasing after someone and wanting more. That person would allow me closer and then pull away, or ignore me. I would feel the urge to chase them more, to make demands, to beg or issue ultimatums. I felt horrible and trapped. Like Xander and Yoli, I wanted someone to "pick" me, to me my "hell yes". What my therapist taught me is to stop chasing people and let go. If a partner says they're confused about their feelings, I had to learn to believe them and let them go. Then the oddest thing happened. Once I stopped pursuing that person, they morphed into the pursuer, as happened most clearly with Vanessa. At one point, Vanessa and Zander meet with Vanessa's dad. Vanessa says she's changed her mind and now is ready for marriage. Her dad tells her something along the lines of it's not love that is motivating you, it's your ego. Perhaps that's true. I do think he's correct that in that if Xander had signaled she still wanted to be with Vanessa, the roles would've reversed and Vanessa would've started distancing herself again. Yoli and Mal seemed to be caught in this cycle as well in that when Yoli stopped chasing Mal is when Mal decided to propose. But, in the end it still didn't work out. Yoli mentioned this after the proposal, questioning why it took putting Mal's back "against the wall" before Mal was ready to make a commitment. I suspect it was when Yoli stopped chasing Mal that Mal felt the urge to become the pursuer. But, in the end it appears when Mal saw the show and realized that Yoli wasn't honest about many things she felt betrayed and they broke up. Personally, I suspect Yoli was just being immature and may not even realize how badly she hurt both Mal and Xander. The whole distancer pursuer dance between these couples really broke my heart for everyone involved. It can really be a painful and confusing experience. Personally, I really felt myself reflected in Xander most clearly, As for me, through therpay I manage to break free of these patterns. I eventually found a wonderful partner and stopped chasing unhealthy relationships. It wasn't easy and at one point I almost ruined the relationship because of my doubts and immaturity. It took time. I was lucky my partner was patient with me. It seemed to me Xander and Yoli seemed to be authentically in love and had an opportunity to break free from their commitment issues. They seemed hugely compatible in that they both wanted to get married and create a family together. Xander brought financial resources to the table that would enable them to begin that journey. (FWIW, getting pregnant after you're 35 years old greatly increases the chance of having a child with birth defects, most specifically downs syndrome.) Yet, despite having found that, Yoli chose to walk away. It really was heartbreaking. I watched Xander's face when Yoli told her she was engaged to Mal and felt great empathy for her pain. I noticed that after Xander walked away, Yoli felt compelled to chase after her one more time for a final hug This could be seen as her wish for Xander to keep chasing her, to "fight for her", and continue the game. In my humble opinion, Yoli threw away a chance to break free of her commitment issues and start a family. Real love is rare. It's a gift. And, it's a gift that not everyone receives or if you are lucky enough to find it, it may not last. After nine years and finally starting a family with my true love, cancer took all that away and I ended up a widow. I am now a single mom planning to my MA and become a counselor so I can help other people struggling with grief and commitment issues. I would love to hear other people's personal experiences with these type of issues and how the show reflected your journey. Thanks for reading all of this.

2023.06.09 16:07 shortstory1 Are you sure technology has made things faster

2023.06.09 16:07 StyleEastern9063 Ano ka, gold?
Kaya naman pala walang tumatagal sa’yo because you’re dumb af. Lol. Ang dami mong maling assumptions, but what annoyed me the most is yung pagpaparinig mo instead of directly talking to me. Sobrang insulting din na ganyan tingin mo sakin without fully knowing me first.
Mannn, I don’t need anything from you, sa totoo lang. I lasted this long na mag-isa, I know how to survive without anyone by my side para isipin mo na “yun” yung habol ko sa’yo. Kapal mo naman.
Also, I’m 10 years younger than you and I have good friends na marunong mag-enjoy sa buhay. Hindi lang sa trabaho umiikot buhay ko, I have a life outside work, mag-eenjoy ako as long as I want to. If di mo magets yun kasi magkaiba tayo ng lifestyle, di ko na problema yun. Walang mali sa ginagawa ko, I have a job that pays well, I don’t have kids, walang ibang responsibilities bukod sa sarili ko.

2023.06.09 16:07 janas19 My main gripe with Darkest Dungeon, and how it could be improved.
I've been playing DD for the last 2 days, slowly learning the game. There's a lot I like about the game, but my biggest complaint is the tedium of battles. Every enemy attack causes damage or stress, so my healer needs to heal every turn. My joker needs to reduce stress every turn. My tank does barely any damage. Only one party member is doing decent damage per turn, and sometimes they miss.
Heals/songs recover only a tiny amount of the respective stat, and only one member is doing damage, so the battles are a grind. I wish the game let you cast spells outside of battle.
I kind of understand the reasoning behind not allowing for spells outside combat, it makes the dungeons and game much more tougher and unforgiving. I like that, but I also feel like it could've been implemented better. For example, having a strong heal or a strong destress on a cooldown. Or maybe using MP, to limit the number of casts. The game could be balanced around that mechanic.
So, my question is how can I make the battles less of a grind? Does it get better? I'm loving this game, but the grind is getting to me.
