Chapter 24: Top Dog
Boys: Shawn
Girls: Heather, Lindsay
Episode 24: Top Dog
"Last time on Total Drama Action," Chris said over a shot of the film lot. "A sweet, surprise package from the outside world left Heather bitter," Heather was shown looking at her jawbreaker with disgust, "and the cast got a taste of life in zero-gravity conditions," the four were seen floating in the space shuttle.
"But all was not well in the universe as Shawn and Courtney continued to spitefully hate each other," the two mentioned were shown making comments at each other.
"In the end, Heather won the challenge," she was shown to be covered in barf, "but lost her sweet smell. Lindsay fixed things between Courtney and Shawn" she, Shawn and Courtney were shown talking, "but lost her chance to stay in the game almost. Thanks to a tiebreaker, Courtney lost the game, but won a Lame-osine ride back to the real world?" She was seen puking into her pot and entering the limo.
"Can Lindsay breathe once more now that she barely got lucky?" The dumb princess was shown in the confessional.
"Will Shawn be able to carry on without his sole alliance?" The conspiracy nut was shown looking at his tinfoil hat.
The scene flashed to Chris in front of the cast trailers. "All this and more, on today's out-of-this world episode of, Total! Drama! Action!"
XXXXX
The episode opened on a shot of the morning sun before panning down to the cast trailers. The camera centered on the girls', then cut inside as Lindsay woke up.
"That was a nice dream I had," Lindsay talked to herself while sitting up in her bunk. "Marshmallow pillows and candy rainbow pieces have never been so tasty."
She soon looked around for a bit. "Where did Heather go? I thought she would be back from showering last night."
The door opened and Heather walked in, though she was looking groggy and tired.
"Where were you all night?" Lindsay asked her roommate. "Were you out on a secret trip thanks to your immunity? Let me guess where you went. The cheese factory, Niagara Falls, or did you go to the mall?"
"Zip it!" Heather shouted. "I spent the entire evening in the bathroom."
"Why did you sleep in there?" Lindsay asked.
"That ghost slash vampire fighting freak soaked the last of the gumbo on me!" Heather complained. "It took me hours to wash the food off and make sure I smelled exquisite."
"I don't blame Shawn for what he did," Lindsay shot a glare at the queen bee's direction. "You made him get into a fight with Courtney. Things could've gotten worse if I didn't solve their problem."
"Shut up, Lame-say," Heather insulted. "That homeschooled reject is going down, and once I deal with him and you, I'll claim the grand prize."
"I have no idea how Amy could tolerate you," Lindsay told her. "You worked with her, sure, but you decided to strategize behind her back just because she had standards."
"Amy and the other contestants mean nothing to me," Heather said. "Just watch your back!"
Confessional: Heather
"I knew I'd make it to the end. Big shocker," Heather filed her nails. "I just can't believe the zombie weirdo and brainless blondie made it. So they may as well just give me the check, I mean come on. I think we all know who's gonna win."
Confessional Ends
Heather yawned and laid down on her bunk. Just then, the trailer door burst open. Chris walked in and promptly and joyfully blew a few notes on a bugle into the room. "Wake up, sleepyheads!" he announced with glee. "Breakfast is served, along with today's movie challenge. You've got ten minutes to get your sorry butts down there!" He backed out of the room.
"I bet today's genre will be "guy in a coma" movie," Heather suggested as she lied down.
"I doubt it, but I'm just going to eat breakfast," Lindsay said before leaving.
\
The scene flashed over to the craft services tent. "Wow Chef!" Shawn said in awe as the camera cut to a close-up of his plate as Chef ladled a portion of something that was pale yellow, lumpy, and slightly hairy onto it. "These scrambled eggs actually look pretty good!"
Chef looked at the theorist, then burst out into raucous laughter. "Scrambled eggs," he repeated before resuming his laughter and even falling over.
Shawn shot his food with a worried look and put it back before walking away. "I'll just eat on the leaves I've gathered."
Confessional: Shawn
"The way Chef was laughing made me believe that the scrambled eggs were too good to be true," Shawn confessed. "Or maybe they were poisoned. Or maybe they were drugged with sleeping medicine. But worst of all-"
Confessional Ends
Shawn sat next to Heather, who stopped eating once she saw him. "I gotta say, you smell pretty good," the theorist told her teasingly.
"It's just lavender soap," Heather glared. "I used three bottles of it thanks to your stunt."
"Now you know how I felt when you messed with my mind and got Courtney eliminated," Shawn said. "Zombies may eat brains, but they don't have any control over what they're doing."
"It's always supernatural stuff with you," Heather groaned. "I'm stunned Jo even likes you, but it makes sense. You two are ugly and can't dress fashionably to save your lives."
Shawn furiously got in Heather's face. "She likes me for me, and I won't change myself for her."
Confessional: Shawn
"It's one thing to be manipulative, but to insult my feelings for Jo? That's crossing the line," Shawn ranted. "Like Jo did before, I will make sure Heather loses."
Confessional Ends
The scene cut to Lindsay approaching the serving counter, only to look confused when she didn't see Chef. The cook then lifted his arm up and dropped a ladle of fake eggs onto her tray.
"Scrambled eggs?" Lindsay wondered as she looked at her plate. "It's the second episode all over again." Chef broke out laughing again behind the counter, but he managed to sit back up and wipe a tear out of his eye.
Lindsay sat down next to Shawn. "Hey Shawn. Where's your food."
"A heads up," Shawn whispered. "The eggs aren't cooked well. They're just fake."
"They looked real," Lindsay slid her tray away.
"So anyways, me and you are up against Heather, Lindsay" Shawn told her. "I know what you're gonna say."
"Let's team up and take her down," Lindsay grinned.
"It's almost like you read my mind," Shawn said, "but without being an alien."
Confessional: Lindsay
"Shawn is really cute," Lindsay admitted. "His constant nagging about his theories do bug me and he could really use a shower every once in a while, but I can see why Jo is into him."
Confessional Ends
"What can I do about the eggs?" Lindsay asked Shawn. "Chef will totally kill me with his eyes if I throw it away."
"Leave it to me," Shawn told Lindsay.
Shawn grabbed the eggs with his two hands. He mushed them together and created a ball out of the eggs. Twirling it on his finger for a brief moment, he tossed the ball away and it landed in the pot Chef was using to cook a meal. The cook stopped whistling to see what slipped in, but went about his business without a care.
"I can't believe he didn't even care," Lindsay commented.
"I don't know what Chef uses to make his food, but it's probably leftovers," Shawn said.
"Attention, cast!" Chris said, the camera cutting to him standing on the other side of the tent with a blue-and-yellow macaw perched on his shoulder. It squawked as the three contestants walked up.
"What is that parrot doing on your shoulder?" Lindsay asked.
"That's my new BFFF!" Chris explained with a grin. "Best Flying Friend Forever. That brings us to today's movie genre: the Animal Buddy flic." The three teens gave him skeptical looks.
Confessional: Chris
"You try coming up with twenty-two movie genres," Chris accused in the confessional. "It was either animal buddy, or guy in a coma movies."
Confessional Ends
"The hallmark of any good animal buddy flick is the human-animal bonding," Chris explained as his macaw watched him. "First, the human and the animal start out as enemies. Then, through many misadventures, the animal and human grow to care about each other," the camera zoomed in on the macaw as it seemed to be touched by the host's words, "and become fast friends."
The parrot rubbed Chris' chin affectionately with its head, and the host responded by extending a finger to rub the bird. However, the macaw decided to playfully chomp on the finger and squawked laughingly as the human winced in pain.
"You guys just hang tight for a sec, 'kay?" Chris told the cast with a calm look on his face. He walked off camera, and the castmates watched in mild horror as sounds of an attack were heard. Feathers flew, squawks were heard, and the host yelled "Let go of my coif!"
He walked back into view moments later, brushing the feathers off his shoulder but ignoring the ones in his now-ruffled hair. "So...where were we...?" he asked idly before smiling in realization. "Right! The first animal buddy movie challenge will be to pick an animal and teach it to be just like you," he explained as the camera panned across the wary faces of Heather, Shawn, and Lindsay. "That shouldn't be too hard, since you're all animals." A rimshot played, but none of the cast were amused.
Chris got serious again. "The cast member whose animal most resembles them at the end, wins the challenge." The contestants were shown again, and Lindsay in particular was looking pleased.
Confessional: Lindsay
"I love animals, especially dogs," Lindsay gushed in the confessional. "I even have one of my own. One time, I told my math teacher that his new hair piece looks like my dog's butt. But he totally took it the wrong way. My dog has the cutest curly little butt!" the blonde explained. "It was a compliment!"
Confessional Ends
The footage resumed at a shot of the contestants outside. "Alright cast," Chris announced, "time to meet your future BFFFFFs!" He motioned behind him, where something large and covered in an orange tarp was stationed between him and Chef. "Best Furry, Feathered, or Finned Friends, Forever!" he explained further, earning an eyeroll from the cook as he pulled away the tarp.
The four teens gasped as the four cages were uncovered. The camera focused on each animal one-by-one. First was a brown bear that roared at the cast, then a bigger cage holding a rather agitated looking shark, then a smaller cage holding a raccoon that tried to claw at them, and finally a bird cage holding a chameleon that rolled out its tongue.
"Pick an animal," Chris told the cast, "and get training. You have three hours."
"I got the raccoon!" Heather said immediately, shoving Shawn to the ground and dashing forward towards the small cage before either of the others could react.
Confessional: Heather
"I had to pick the raccoon," Heather reasonably told the viewers. "The chameleon is gross, the bear is huge, and the shark is murderous."
Confessional Ends
The scene returned to Shawn and Lindsay standing with the other animals. "I'll take the chameleon," the blonde said. "If it can change colors, I can't pass that up."
"And I'll take the bear," Shawn announced. "It has a lesser chance of eating me alive in comparison to the shark."
Chris saw that the final three have made their decision and chosen their animals, but noticed that the shark was lonely.
"So it seems they left out the shark," Chris mused. "I paid good money to bring all four of the animals out here, and I won't let any of them go to waste." He thought to himself. "What to do, what to do."
Ezekiel suddenly ran up to Chris. "Hey Chris. I'm here to help judge the animals."
"Ezekiel! Great timing," Chris piped up. "Say, do you want to pet sit for an animal while we wait for the judging part?"
"Uh, sure," Ezekiel agreed. "Which one do I have to watch over?"
"Chef, bring the pet here!" Chris ordered, causing the cook to drag the shark over to the home schooled guy."
Ezekiel's eyes almost popped out. "I have to take care of a shark? They're dangerous looking eh!"
"That's not my problem," Chris laughed while departing. "Just make sure it doesn't try to hurt the other animals. They didn't get picked, so they're sorta jealous."
All Ezekiel could do was gulp at his predicament.
\
Heather and the raccoon were sitting on a table. "I don't know if you've been tested for rabies, but I have my eyes on you, so don't try any funny business."
The raccoon snarled at her. "Hey hey! I don't want any trouble. I just want to win this challenge."
Heather pulled out a box of doggy treats. "If you behave, I'll feed this to you." This caused the raccoon to sit up straight, and Heather gave it a treat. "Good."
After devouring the treat, the raccoon held out its paw, causing Heather to awkwardly shake it.
\
The camera went to the chameleon, who's colors changed from red to bright yellow. It was supposed to change to Lindsay's hair color, but it didn't obey.
"That's not the color," Lindsay told her animal. "It's supposed to be blonde, not bright yellow. Let's try this again." The chameleon turned dark green in response.
\
The scene flashed to Shawn and the bear inside the service tent. "I know something that we share," Shawn told the bear. "We both like food, but the only difference is that I can cook and you can't."
The bear growled at that, causing Shawn to retract. "I'm not saying this to insult you. I'm just saying that I teach you how to cook. That way, you won't have to eat out of the trash can."
The bear smiled in response.
\
Ezekiel was looking at the shark still in its tank. He touched the tank with his hand, and after the shark chomped its jaws, he recoiled back in fear.
"You know what I like to do?" Ezekiel said. "Play songs on my harmonica."
The home schooled guy took his harmonica out and played "Ocean Man" by Ween. Just as he was going to get to the third stanza, the shark howled in boredom and pretended to fall asleep by rolling over.
Ezekiel stopped playing to see what the shark just did and sighed. "I know music doesn't kill animals eh. I'm not that naive."
\
The scene flashed to Heather and her raccoon lounging about. "I've already taught you manners, but I don't have anything else to do."
The queen bee's face lit up with inspiration. "I know." She lifted up the raccoon. "Want to help me sabotage the others? I'll give you the entire box of treats if you do."
The raccoon thought about it, but complied.
Confessional: Heather
"This will almost be like sabotaging my competition in the ballet competition, only this time, it's on a reality show," Heather said.
Confessional Ends
Lindsay's chameleon was now orange-colored. "My hair looks like it's colored orange, but that's not the case," Lindsay expressed her frustration.
Behind her, Heather had hooked her raccoon to a fishing line. She swung it over Lindsay's head, allowing for the raccoon to use a can of spray paint on Lindsay's hair.
Seeing what color the hair was now, the chameleon turned white.
"That's definitely wrong," Lindsay said while the raccoon resprayed her hair brown, causing the chameleon to turn into that color. "Wrong again!" Her hair got sprayed pink. "My hair isn't even close to pink!"
Not wanting to be exposed, Heather quickly reeled her raccoon back and took off.
\
The camera flashed back to the kitchen. The bear was stirring pancake mix and flour in a big bowl as Shawn watched him.
"I work in a bakery, so making cake is my first lesson in cooking," Shawn instructed. "I need to use the bathroom. Keep stirring until I come back."
After Shawn left, the bear decided to search the cabinets for more ingredients. The raccoon, who was under the table, crept from under there and stood near the bowl.
They took out a bottle of maple syrup, and quickly squirted it all onto the bowl. As soon as the raccoon was done, they went back to hiding when the bear came back with the ingredients.
The bear added some sugar into their bowl and resumed stirring the mix, unaware of the syrup. Heather saw her pet return back and they smiled at their sabotage.
\
Meanwhile, Ezekiel was bringing a set of books with him. "Alright, shark. I think you'd like to read a story."
He took out "The History of Canada" and turned to page one. "This book is one of my favorites. It describes how Canada was made."
Seeing the book that was picked, the shark silently whined before taking out some earplugs and placing them into their ears. Afterwards, they faked a smile just to show that they're paying attention.
"I knew you'd like the story," Ezekiel looked up from his book, unaware of the fact that the shark wasn't listening.
\
A flash took the scene to a stock shot of the film lot before another cut took it to Ezekiel, Chef, and Chris sitting at a judge's table, the contestants and their animal buddies waiting around in front of it. "Alright cast," Chris announced, "time to judge the animal buddies."
"Why does the bear have frosting on their lips?" Lindsay asked Shawn after seeing the animal lick their lips.
"It's a secret," Shawn replied.
"Heather!" Chris called, earning the attention of the mean girl and her partner. "You and your raccoon are up first!"
"About that," Heather walked up. "I didn't teach my raccoon much of anything," she said, causing Chris to frown at her.
Heather soon whispered to her raccoon, and before anyone else knew it, the raccoon sprung up and snatched Ezekiel's crochet hat.
"That's my hat you're taking!" Ezekiel protested as the raccoon returned to Heather.
"But I did teach it how to snatch and grab," Heather said.
Chris and Chef looked at each other and held up two signs with numbers on it. "Ten!" Chris announced with a smile.
Ezekiel revealed his score. "I give it a six personally!"
Heather glared at the boy and hurled his hat at his face.
\
"Alright chameleon," Chris said next, "give it all you got."
The chameleon stood on Lindsay's shoulder and turned its color blonde like the girl's hair color.
The three judges clapped and gave Lindsay an eight.
\
"Shawn," Chris told the remaining contestant. "Time to see what your bear cooked up." He opened the pot and saw a chocolate cake with maple syrup surrounding it. "Why is there maple syrup?"
"I don't know," Shawn shrugged. "The bear must've put it in as a surprise." He got slapped in the head by the bear. "What? I didn't give you any syrup."
Chef took the first bite. "This is an eight. The cake is good, but it gets hard to scrape off your teeth."
Chris was next. "Nine out of ten. I'd like the dessert better if you had properly planned it out."
Ezekiel was the last one. "Maple syrup goes great with everything," he smiled. "Especially cake. This scored ten points!"
"If it makes us look good, I applaud you for your skills," Shawn complimented the bear.
"Points have been tallied," Chris announced. "And the winner of the first challenge is Shawn!"
"Yes!" Shawn cheered, but noticed Ezekiel still eating the cake. "Uh, Ezekiel, are you gonna share with us?"
Ezekiel stopped eating when he heard him. "It is your cake, so yeah."
"I do get first dibs," Chris grabbed a piece before turning to look at the camera. "Be right back," he said with a wink.
\
(Commercial break)
\
The scene faded back in to a shot of a dirt road running through some unidentified forest just as a bus pulled up. Its door opened with a hiss, and Chris stepped off. "Here we are gang! Don't you just love field trips?"
Following him off the bus were the raccoon and Heather, then Lindsay with her chameleon on her shoulder, and finally Shawn who had to pull his bear through by the paw.
"The woods? Again?" Heather asked.
"Your next challenge is to find your way back to the film lot," Chris told them as an angled shot of some trees nearby was shown. "A ten mile hike through these woods," the camera panned back to the castmates, "using only your animal buddies to guide you," the host added and the shot moved over to the raccoon, chameleon, and bear as they shrugged in ignorance.
"But be careful," Chris warned. "Several vicious and life-threatening traps have been set up along the way."
"Who would do such a thing?" Lindsay got scared.
"Hint; it's the only guy here," Heather said.
"It wasn't me, so obviously it was you," Shawn accused Chris.
"Correct!" Chris confirmed. "First one back wins invincibility. Shawn gets to shave thirty minutes off his final time for winning the first challenge. Everyone ready?"
"Wait, where's Ezekiel?" Lindsay asked. "And where's that shark?"
Chris chuckled a bit. "They're just spending time together."
\
Ezekiel was standing on a rock supervising his shark. "I only have a couple of hours left before I can go home, and it's just you and me."
He realized that his pet had brought more sharks into the stream of water. "What the heck? Chris never told me I had to watch all of you."
\
"See you all back at the film lot," Chris told them as he took a step onto the bus, "and good luck." He boarded the bus, and moments later the door slid shut and it sped off in a cloud of dust.
The three teens lingered in the area for a moment, then slowly split up. Heather and the raccoon went left, Lindsay and the chameleon went right, and Shawn and the bear stood still.
Shawn saw the girls going their own ways. "I know how to get back. I'm a bit of a navigator," he told her companion, who smiled at the knowledge.
Confessional: Shawn
"If you want to know the inside of my bunker, check it out!" Shawn said before pulling out blueprints and showing his first page. "Entrance chamber with eye-scan entry and remote lasers here, here, and here. And here and here. And here." He turned to the next page. "Master bedroom with bite-proof bedspread and weaponized pillows, and just in case…" the page turned, "this is the panic room." He flipped one last time. "And this is the panic room inside the panic room. Can't be too careful."
Confessional Ends
Heather and her raccoon were shown wandering through the woods and searching around.
"How did Jo manage to do this part of the challenge?" Heather rambled. "It was a stranded episode, but I still don't know which way she went."
The raccoon rolled their eyes, but still followed Heather.
\
The camera flashed to Lindsay walking through the woods. "No offense," she said to her companion, "but I think I should've picked the bear. Shawn must be lucky riding on their back."
Whether or not the chameleon got offended, they turned themselves invisible. "What the? Where did you go? I can't lose you!" Lindsay frantically ran about trying to locate her pet.
The camera moved to show her stepping on a string hidden behind a small shrub. It snapped, and a rock was launched out of a nearby bush by what looked like a small catapult. It hit Lindsay in the stomach, causing her to kneel over.
"Those were the traps," Lindsay wheezed out before collapsing.
Confessional: Lindsay
"One of the things I would've liked to do with my money is spend it on a lifetime supply of lip gloss, but I canceled it because there's more things to value," Lindsay confessed. "Like creating a brand new style of lip gloss."
Confessional Ends
Back with Ezekiel, he was sitting down as he watched the sharks racing each other. He pulled out some cake pieces from the one Shawn and his pet created and proceeded to eat them.
"I should've packed them in a bag if I didn't want syrup in the pockets, but I'll make do," Ezekiel shrugged before a shark swallowed all of his pieces. "Hey! If you wanted a piece, you should have just asked!" he said angrily.
This wasn't the smartest thing to say as the sharks chomped their jaws and went towards his direction.
Not wanting to potentially die, Ezekiel took out the last of his cake slices. "If you want these, go get them!" He threw them far away, causing the sharks to forget about Ezekiel and swim for the cake. "That was close."
\
The camera cut to Heather as he followed the raccoon. "Are you sure you know where we're going?" she asked. "I am not going to lose because of you leading us in circles."
The raccoon growled, but still stayed by her side.
"Of course I'll be upset," Heather replied. "I have plans for when I win the million bucks."
Confessional: Heather
"When I win, I'm thinking of my own spin-off series. The World According to Heather," Heather described it. "Luckily, I'm up against the dimwit and the nutcase. So they may as well just give me the money, I mean come on. I think we all know who's gonna win."
Confessional Ends
"Chameleon, where did you wander off to?" Lindsay yelled as she walked through the woods, "We have to be together so we can make it to the film lot."
The camera followed her to show that she was rapidly approaching a large patch of ground with a suspiciously large number of sticks and branches on it. "Could this be the way home?" As soon as Lindsay stepped onto the odd patch of ground, the branches snapped and she fell with a holler into the pit that had been hidden. "Booby traps!"
\
Shawn and his bear were strolling along. You know," he told his companion, "I can say that I trust you. If you were robotic or built by Chris and the producers, there wouldn't be any trust." The bear giggled happily.
The camera followed them as they came across a pile of leaves. As soon as they hit it, a net seemed to appear in the leaves under their feet and dragged them up in a suspended bundle.
"This isn't good. We have to get down," Shawn mentioned.
Confessional: Shawn
"I never thought I would see the day where I got captured in a booby trap," Shawn said.
Confessional Ends
"I have an idea!" Shawn said as he grabbed some nearby blueberries and gave them to the bear. "You eat as many blueberries as you can. If we're lucky, your increased weight can get us out."
Shawn took out a piece of wood bark carved into a knife. "I'll use this to cut holes into the trap just to help us."
\
The camera flashed to Heather and the raccoon outside a small cave. "I don't think there's a time for breaks," she told her companion. The raccoon snarled viciously and crawled into the cave. "As long as we're quick," she complied and followed her pet.
Inside the cave was the raccoon's surprisingly luxurious den. There was a reading corner, a kitchen, a ping-pong table, and even a big screen TV.
"You guys are civilized?" Heather said in shock upon seeing the den. "This resembles my house, but much smaller." A raccoon walked by and offered her a sandwich from a tray. "One sandwich? I'll take more than that," she said as she took three.
The raccoon, holding a paddle, chirped at her from the ping-pong table. "Ping pong? Like I would pass up on that offer," Heather said before going over.
\
The camera went to the pit Lindsay fell into. She had dirt all over her body along with leaves, her boots were gone, leaving her barefooted, and she was drifting into insanity.
"I'm so hungry," Lindsay croaked out. "What can I eat that's edible?"
She pulled out her lipstick and took the tube off before biting into it. "Tastes just like cherries."
\
Meanwhile, as Shawn was sawing through the net, the bear had its belly and mouth covered from all the berries they were currently eating on. After a few more seconds, the net finally burst and the duo fell into the ground.
"We're free!" Shawn whooped. "Time to get back to the lot."
\
The scene skipped ahead to a shot of the afternoon sun high in the sky, the camera panning down and to the right to show Chris standing alone by the cast trailers. A little ways to the left was a meager finish line flanked by tall red flags.
"Shawn and his bear!" Chris announced as he saw them coming to the lot. "Nice one!" He proceeded to high five Shawn. "You're the first team to arrive, and for being the first one back, you get a guaranteed spot in the final two."
Confessional: Shawn
"Going to the finale!" Shawn whooped with the bear next to him. "Training pets can be a hassle, but as long as they're not your enemies, you can bond well with them!"
Confessional Ends
"Where is everyone?" Shawn asked the host, both watching the woods along with the bear.
"Sure they'll be here any minute," Chris answered while looking at his watch.
"I'm back!" the voice of Ezekiel announced as he entered the scene.
"Where's the shark, Zeke?" Chris wondered.
"It met some friends in the water," Ezekiel described the situation, "or its family."
"As long as a mammal is reunited with their family, I'm cool with it," Chris shrugged.
\
\
The camera panned to the sun as it set, then the moon rose, then the moon set and the sun rose. The shot panned back to them waiting for the remaining contestants, with Chris having grown a large and bushy beard, and the bear asleep.
"Any... minute... now," Chris said weakly, still looking at his watch.
"It's been days," Shawn pointed out. "Maybe we should send out a search party."
"And here they come now!" Chris announced brightly before speeding off screen. The camera pulled back to show Victor and his raccoon and a soaking wet Heather and her fox walking up to the brickhouse.
"Are you guys ok?" DJ asked. "What took you so long?"
"I lost track of time when spending time with Lord Montague," Victor said while gesturing to the raccoon.
"And I wound up taking the wrong river," Heather explained through chattering teeth.
A familiar shout caught their attention and they turned to see Kitsune, now sporting and eye-patch and the parrot on her shoulder, swing into the film lot on a vine. "Argh!" She said in a thick pirate accent. "It be good to be back in me home port."
"Welcome back cast," said a clean shaven Chris. "Better late than never. DJ and his bear buddy easily won the challenge, which means invincibility. DJ gets a free pass into the Final Three."
"Shiver me timbers!" Kitsune cried. "Good job me boy!"
"The question is; Who will join him in the Final Three?" Chris asked. "And who will be the next one outta here? The answer will be revealed on the most exciting Gilded Chris ceremony ev-ah!"
"Now be the time to make the treacherous wench walk the plank!" Kitsune told her allies, who just gave her confused and concerned looks.
"Faith!" Heather groaned. "You're so annoying!"
"Who be Faith?" The goofball asked in genuine curiosity. "I be One-Eyed Foxy, the deadliest pirate on the Seven Seas! And this here's me faithful parrot, Eddie," she added with an affectionate rub of the parrot's head.
"She spent too long in a pit," the parrot explained. "Rawk!"
Heather walked up to the goofball, then slapped her across the face. Kitsune's pupils shrunk and she blinked a couple of times. "Thanks," she said begrudgingly. "I needed that."
XXX
"I must say," Victor said, "this has been one of the strangest few days of my life. At least I do not have to vote for DJ now. And maybe Chris will realize that a mole is no longer necessary"
XXX
[A grand theme played as the camera zoomed in on the amphitheatre. Several film strips of the host's highlights from the previous season flew past the screen, then the camera panned out from a solid gold screen to show a Guilded Chris.]
\
"This is a big one cast," Chris told the four teens from his podium. "DJ's safe from elimination which means the rest of you, are fair game. So," he mined a cat's claws scratching, "sharpen those claws and cast your votes. Someone is going home for the last time."
"Pfft," DJ scoffed. "Sorry girl, but you gotta go." He made his vote, and the screen shrunk into the top-left of the screen.
Kitsune sighed in relief as she made her vote. "Now that's satisfying." She shrank into the bottom-right.
"Like it matters at this point," Heather spat bitterly as she made her vote. She shrank into the top-right.
"There really is one choice," Victor said as he made his vote. He shrunk into the bottom-left.
A close-up of Chris grew from the center of the screen and stopped just before it overlapped with any of the castmates' faces.
"The Gilded Chris goes to..." the host announced. "DJ! And Kitsune!" The screen cut to Chris at the podium. "Heather, since you were the only one who didn't vote for you, it's time for your ride home."
"Finally!" Kitsune cheered.
"And Victor will be joining you," Chris added, causing everyone to gasp.
"But why?" DJ asked.
"Let's just say he had some special caused in his contract that he is now in breach of," the host answered.
"But DJ was immune!" Victor protested. "What would you have me do?"
"I don't know," Chris answered with a shrug. "Maybe sabotage DJ like we told you to," the other three gasped again.
"So Sugar was right?" Heather asked in disbelief.

The camera cut to a long distance shot of the film lot as a frustrated growl from Heather shook the screen.

Heather yelled back at the host. "You think you were in trouble when Alejandro sued?! I'll make you wish you never met me!"
Victor got in the limo, Heather was thrown in by Chef, and the cook slammed the door shut. It sped off in a cloud of dust, and the shot cut back to the start of the red carpet where the host stood flanked by the two finalists. "DJ! Kitsune!" he announced, putting his arms around their shoulders. The two

"Don't talk to me," Heather

2023.03.28 20:54 Ok_Carob_9286 Where To Watch 'Shazam! Fury Of The Gods' Online Free: Is Shazam 2 (2023) Streaming On HBO Max, Netflix Or Disney Plus
DC movies! Here are options for downloading or watching Shazam! Fury of the Gods streaming the full movie online for free on 123movies & Reddit, including where to watch the anticipated superhero movies at home. Is Shazam 2 available to stream? Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods on Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.
Watch Now: Shazam! Fury of the Gods Online Free Watch Now: Shazam! Fury of the Gods Online Free Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the latest installment in the soon-to-be rebooted DC cinematic universe, hasn’t quite soared to the Olympian heights of critical and commercial success some would have hoped for since it opened in theaters last weekend.
The film landed with a resounding thud, earning just $30 million in its opening weekend — the lowest opening of any theatrical-exclusive DC movie to date. Of all the DC movies, only Wonder Woman 1984 and The Suicide Squad did worse, but it’s worth bearing in mind both of those films had to contend with simultaneous streaming and theatrical debuts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Surprising cameos and continuity lampshading aside, Zachary Levi’s second turn as the superpowered wunderkind Billy Batson feels like the end of an era, leaving fans and skeptics alike to wonder how, when, and if Shazam and his extended family of living titans will return to the DC cinematic universe in light of DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn’s recently announced 10-year plan for a soft reboot following the release of The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Inquiring minds also want to know when they can expect Shazam! Fury of the Gods to be available to watch from home. To that end, we’ve called upon the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury in order to divine an answer to the question: When does Shazam! Fury of the Gods come to VOD and streaming on HBO Max?
Here's your guide on how you can watch the highly anticipated movies Shazam! Fury of the Gods streaming, the latest installment in the DC superhero franchise.
Shazam Shazam Shazam! Fury of the Gods Release Date: Yes, Shazam! Fury of The Gods will be released exclusively in theaters on March 17, 2023. Originally, the movie was expected to be released on April 1, 2021, but was then pushed to November 4, 2021, and again to March 17, 2023, with these delays ultimately being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Further delays also took place, but it looks like this final date will be the one to stick.
Where to watch Shazam! Fury of the Gods: As of now, the only way to watch Shazam! Fury of the Gods is to head to a theater when it releases on Friday, March 17. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or buy on digital platforms like Vudu, Peacock, Apple and YouTube, or become available to stream on HBO Max.
Watch Now: Shazam! Fury of the Gods Online Free
Following its release in theaters, the film will be available to stream on Paramount Plus. Expect the movie to hit the streamer 45 days after its theatrical run, which should be sometime in April. it's most likely that HBO Max will be the main platform that will stream Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods Available for Streaming Online? Right now, there are currently no confirmed plans for streaming Shazam! Fury of the Gods. As more cinemas open up and theater attendance continues to rise post-pandemic, simultaneous streaming and theater releases are becoming less common. However, if past titles are anything to go by, it's a safe bet that Fury Of The Gods will join its DCEU siblings on HBO Max within the next few months. It's possible that you'll also be able to rent or buy copies of the movie on other streaming platforms, such as Amazon or YouTube but again, it'll be a while before the movie becomes available anywhere other than in theaters.
Shazam Shazam Is Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Streaming On HBO Max? No, Since Shazam! Fury of the Gods is being distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery, it will, indeed, join HBO Max. However, unlike last year when the company would drop their movies on the streaming platform the same day they were released in theaters, we are going to have to wait at least 45 days before we can watch from the comfort of our living rooms.
While there is no official streaming release date yet, Black Adam, another Warner Bros. movie, was released in theaters on Oct. 21 and didn’t make its way to HBO Max until Dec. 16 — just over 45 days after it debuted. If Shazam! Fury of the Gods follows the same trajectory, it’s possible we won’t be able to stream it until early May 2023.
Will Shazam! Fury of the Gods Be on Netflix? No, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is not on Netflix — and it likely won’t be any time soon seeing as it is going to stream on HBO Max. In the meantime, you’ll just have to head out to a theater or wait for it to become available on streaming and VOD.
Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods on Disney+? Unfortunately, Disney+ does not house ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ in its expansive collection. But worry not, as there are plenty of Marvel movies that you might enjoy on the streamer. We recommend you watch ‘Deadpool‘ and ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’
Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods on Hulu? Hulu subscribers might be a bit disappointed to know that ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ is not included in the platform’s library. But don’t let it stop you from checking out exciting alternatives on the streamer, such as ‘Spider-Man‘ and ‘Spider-Man 2.’
Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods on Amazon Prime? No, Amazon Prime Video does not include ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ in its expansive collection of movies and TV shows. Nevertheless, you can turn to other superhero movies using your subscription, including ‘Lazarus‘ and ‘Samaritan.’
How to Watch Shazam! Fury of the Gods For Free? Since ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ is unavailable for streaming on any digital platform, there is currently no way for you to stream the superhero film for free. What you can do is hope that it lands on the online platforms offering a free trial to new subscribers. Nonetheless, it is our humble request to our readers that they don’t resort to any illegal methods to watch their favorite content and instead choose to pay for the applicable subscription and support the cinematic arts.
Shazam Shazam Where to Watch the First Shazam! Movie
If you're looking to catch up on the first Shazam! movie, you have a few options. If you have an HBO Max subscription, you can stream it on that service. Alternatively, you can rent or buy the movie on Prime Video or Apple TV.

Rocket Launchers have went unchanged during the transition between Seasons 19 and 20, so I'm back with a smaller (well.. compared to previous posts lol) breakdown and updated Season 20 Infographic. As a reminder: much of my
previous breakdown post on the topic of Rocket Launchers is still valid, so I won't be copy and pasting the majority of that post to here; if you want the nitty gritty details on Perks, how Rockets function, and more then go read up there.
This breakdown also comes with an infographic which can be used as a reference while reading. Note: I've decided to split my previous infographic into two (mainly due to sizing issues and feedback):
+++++ This is another Comprehensive Breakdown in my long series of these posts.
Previous Breakdowns:
I also maintain the
Comprehensive Destiny 2 Data & Information Spreadsheets - the following current information is directly sourced from this spreadsheet. I'm currently in the process of moving much of the graphics/data to infographics releasing throughout this year.
You can also find me in the
Destiny Massive Breakdowns community including the MB:PvE Podcast and MB Discord server, and I post various Destiny informative guides and graphics on
my Twitter too.
+++++ Credits:
+++++ Edits: If there are any I'll post any subsequent edits/clarifications at the bottom of this post. +++++ Rocket Launcher Overview
Let's remind ourselves the frames (or "archetypes") of each Rocket Launcher, their damage profiles (compared to the baseline), and their strengths/weaknesses.
Frames - Precision
- Damage Profile: 0.9x (-10% vs baseline; -21% vs Adaptives/Aggressives)
- Strengths: Built-in Tracking
- Weaknesses: Low Blast Radius & Reload stats
- Häkke Precision
- Damage Profile: 0.9x (-10% vs baseline; -21% vs Adaptives/Aggressives)
- Strengths: Built-in Tracking and Häkke Breach Armaments (for Vehicles, Turrets, etc)
- Weaknesses: Low Blast Radius & Reload stats
- High-Impact
- Damage Profile: 1.0x (baseline)
- Strengths: High Blast Radius & Handling stats
- Weaknesses: Low Velocity stat
- Adaptive
- Damage Profile: 1.1x (+10% damage vs baseline; +21% vs Precisions)
- Strengths: Average All-Rounder
- Weaknesses: Does not excel at any particular stat
- Aggressive
- Damage Profile: 1.1x (+10% damage vs baseline; +21% vs Precisions)
- Strengths: High Velocity & Reload stats
- Weaknesses: Low Blast Radius & Handling stats
Season 20 Acquirable Rockets The following is a list of all the Rocket Launchers that can be directly acquired in Season 20. For the benefit of the doubt: no, we didn't get any new (or revamped) Legendary Rocket Launchers in Season 20. We are due a new Rocket perk in Season 21, so presumably we'll get some newness/refreshes then.
- Precisions
- Solar Ascendancy (Monument Kiosk)
- Void Royal Entry (Zavala Focusing)
- Arc Subzero Salvo (Europa)
- Häkke Precision
- Stasis Palmyra-B [CRAFTABLE] (World Drop)
- High-Impact
- Solar Code Duello (Dares of Eternity)
- Solar Roar of the Bear (Lord Saladin Focusing)
- Arc Sleepless (Dreaming City)
- Adaptive
- Solar Apex Predator (Last Wish Raid)
- Arc Blowout (Lord Shaxx Focusing)
- Arc The Hothead (Zavala Focusing)
- Void Red Herring [CRAFTABLE] (Throne World)
- Aggressive
- Arc Heretic (Altars of Sorrow)
- Solar Hezen Vengeance (Vault of Glass Raid)
Previously non-Sunset Acquirable Rockets These are Rocket Launchers that are not sunset, but no longer have a direct acquisition path outside of purchasing it at the Gunsmith or Xur when available.
- Hoosegow (Arc Adaptive; XuGunsmith)
- Shining Sphere (Arc Adaptive; XuGunsmith) [old Iron Banner]
- Tomorrow's Answer (Void High-Impact; XuGunsmith) [old Trials; also has an Adept version]
- Bad Omens (Void Aggressive; XuGunsmith)
- Bump in the Night (Stasis Aggressive; XuGunsmith [formerly Season 17 Haunted + Craftable]
- As of current Season (20) you are unable to directly acquire this unless it's in Xur or the Gunsmith's vendor purchases - if you already have this crafted then you can freely adjust an existing crafted one or craft a brand new one
- Deepsight Resonance ("Red Boxes") can still drop for this weapon if you still require more recipes but the drop rate is low; there is no "direct" way to purchase red boxes for this weapon at least as of the current Season (20)
- The upcoming (targeted for S21) ‘Deepsight Activation’ method appears to be a more direct way to get recipes, so it might be best to wait until then
- The Hothead [Adept version] (Arc Adaptive; Grandmaster Nightfalls)
- Adept version no longer acquirable, but the normal version can still be focused via Vanguard Engrams at Zavala
Exotic Rocket Launchers While we didn't get any new/revamped Legendary Rocket Launchers, we did get some Elemental synergy and a new catalyst for one!
- Two-Tailed Fox
- Elemental Synergy: Solar Rocket now applies 60x Scorch; 90x Scorch w/ Ashes (Void Rocket already had Void Suppression synergy)
- Catalyst now grants an additional Arc projectile; this also applies Jolt
I ran out of space in my previous breakdown, but just to confirm Gjallarhorn & Wolfpack Rounds interactions:
- Wolfpack Rounds
- Damage Reduction to the following Combatants:
- Minibosses/Champions: 38%
- Bosses: 78.7%
- Vehicles: 78.7%
- Wolfpack Rounds Element always matches to the Weapon Element (e.g. Red Herring Wolfpack Rounds = Void, Gjallarhorn's = Solar, The Hothead's = Arc, etc)
Rocket Launcher Total Ammo Capacity
Something I wanted to revisit after the Mod overhauls as it's a topic that requires nuance. Reserve Mods have been consolidated into Elemental synergies, rather than by Weapon - it costs 2 Energy if you're using a 'Harmony' Reserve Mod (matching your currently equipped Subclass Element) or 3 Energy if you're using a specific Element. This also means you can also slot in an additional Reserves Mod (3, up from 2).
As a reminder from my previous breakdown: ammo capacity (amongst other things but they aren’t in the scope of this breakdown) is affected by the hidden "Inventory Size" stat. The higher the Inventory Size stat, the more ammo you can carry. For Rocket Launchers this is pretty simple as we're only working with small numbers. For more information regarding this stat then I will defer to
MossyMax who has been doing some tremendous exhaustive research and testing on this stat.
For Rocket Launchers: you are hard capped to 10 for your total ammo capacity (under normal circumstances that is 1 in the magazine and 9 in reserves). To calculate how much total ammo capacity (again, credit to MossyMax who deciphered this formula) as being the following (numbers always round up):
( ( [RL Inventory Size base number] * 0.05 ) + 4.5 ) = total ammo capacity
e.g. Sleepless has a base Inventory Size stat of 36
((36 * 0.05) + 4.5) = 7 total ammo capacity
For those curious: you can find the Inventory Size stats on websites that relay and utilise the game's API (such as light.gg). To gain a higher ammo capacity you need to combine some effects to increase the Inventory Size stat (just add them to the base number; you can add as many as you can slot in):
- Reserve Mods
- Pre-S20 was the following:
- Post-S20 now is the following:
- Field Prep
- Normal: +30
- Enhanced: +40
- Chain Reaction
- Normal: (no benefit to Inventory Size stat)
- Enhanced: +20
- Reminder: Rocket Launchers do not have access to traditional weapon magazine perks or Weapon Mods that affect Inventory Size stat.
e.g. using the same example above, while using Field Prep and 1x Reserve Mod:
(( (36+30+20) * 0.05) + 4.5) = 9 total ammo capacity
The introduction to a middle tier Reserve Mod hasn’t fundamentally changed a lot for Rockets compared to last time. I’ve highlighted (using **) to help identify where gains are being made are happening in regards to total ammo capacities.
Not including Field Prep:
| Inventory Size Stat | Base Total Ammo Capacity | w/ 1x Res Mod | w/ 2x Res Mod | w/ 3x Res Mod |
Hoosegow | 25 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 8 |
Blowout | 29 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 8 |
Heretic | 32 | 7 ** | 8 ** | 8 | 9 ** |
The Hothead | 34 | 7 | 8 | 8 | 9 |
Bad Omens | 35 | 7 | 8 | 8 | 9 |
Sleepless | 36 | 7 | 8 | 9 ** | 9 |
Roar of the Bear | 38 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Code Duello | 42 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Royal Entry | 45 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Red Herring | 36 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Bump in the Night | 40 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Palmyra-B | 42 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Hezen Vengeance | 50 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
- Summaries (no Field Prep):
- For Hoosegow and Blowout: choose 1x Reserve Mod and 2x Reserve Mods; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 3x Reserve Mods
- For Heretic, The Hothead, and Bad Omens: choose 1x Reserve Mod and 3x Reserve Mods; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 2x Reserve Mods
- For all other Rockets: choose 1x Reserve Mod and 2x Reserve Mods; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 3x Reserve Mods
Here's the same line-up but now
including Field Prep (Palmyra-B and Hezen Vengeance are omitted as they don't roll Field Prep) and
Enhanced Field Prep [in parenthesis] if it has access to it:
| Inventory Size Stat | Base Total Ammo Capacity w/ Field Prep | w/ 1x Res Mod | w/ 2x Res Mod | w/ 3x Res Mod |
Hoosegow | 25 | 8 | 9 | 9 | 10 |
Blowout | 29 | 8 | 9 | 10 ** | 10 |
Heretic | 32 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 10 |
The Hothead | 34 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 10 |
Bad Omens | 35 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 10 |
Sleepless | 36 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 10 |
Roar of the Bear | 38 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 10 |
Code Duello | 42 | 9 ** | 10 ** | 10 | 10 {c} |
Royal Entry | 45 | 9 | 10 | 10 | 10 {c} |
Red Herring | 36 | 8 [9] | 9 [10 **] | 10 [10 {c}] | 10 [10 {c}] |
Bump in the Night | 40 | 8 [9] | 9 [10] | 10 [10 {c}] | 10 [10 {c}] |
- Summaries (Field Prep):
- For Hoosegow: choose 1x Reserve Mod and 3x Reserve Mods; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 2x Reserve Mods
- For Blowout, Heretic, The Hothead, Bad Omens, Sleepless, and Roar of the Bear: choose 1x Reserve Mod and 2x Reserve Mods; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 3x Reserve Mods as 10 is the maximum capacity
- For Code Duello and Royal Entry: choose 1x Reserve Mod; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 2x and 3x Reserve Mods as 10 is the maximum capacity
- For Normal Field Prep on Red Herring and Bump in the Night: choose 1x Reserve Mod and 2x Reserve Mods; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 3x Reserve Mods as 10 is the maximum capacity
- For Enhanced Field Prep on Red Herring and Bump in the Night: choose 1x Reserve Mod; you do NOT receive an additional Rocket with 2x and 3x Reserve Mods as 10 is the maximum capacity
- {c} signifies that they theoretically would have more than 10 capacity (have 11) but are hard capped to the total ammo capacity of 10 (see ‘Theoretical Uncapped Capacity’ section below)
Misc Combinations - Palmyra-B can't roll Field Prep, but it can be crafted with Enhanced Chain Reaction:
- Base ammo capacity: 8
- 1x Reserve Mod: 9
- 2/3x Reserve Mods: 10
- Enhanced Chain Reaction enables Palmyra-B to be the only non-Field Prep Rocket Launcher that can achieve 10 total ammo capacity... but probably not worth it due to the bottom tier damage profile and Precisions being bad for Blast Radius (which Chain Reaction doesn't really synergise well with)
- Bump in the Night is very unique: it has access to both Enhanced Field Prep and Enhanced Chain Reaction. If you craft it with both of those perks:
- Base ammo capacity: 10
- 1/2/3 Reserve Mods: 10
- Both of the Perks combined with Bump's already high Inventory Size Stat enables it to be the only Rocket Launcher that doesn't require any Reserve Mods to achieve maximum ammo capacity! Sure: you are sacrificing a damage perk (and Aggressives aren’t good for Blast Radius), but if you want to focus on an add-clearing Heavy then this may be your friend
- Theoretical Uncapped Capacity:
- If there was no cap to Rocket Launchers’ capacity of 10 we would have the following ammo capacities:
- 11 capacity: Code Duello & Royal Entry w/ Field Prep + 3x Reserve Mods
- 11 capacity: Bump in the Night & Red Herring w/ Enhanced Field Prep + 2/3x Reserve Mods
- 11 capacity: Bump in the Night w/ Enhanced Field Prep & Enhanced Chain Reaction + 1x Reserve Mod
- 12 capacity: Bump in the Night w/ Enhanced Field Prep & Enhanced Chain Reaction + 2/3x Reserve Mods
What about Exotics? Well they are tuned independently and only have access to Reserve Mods so can be easily charted as the following:
| Base Total Ammo Capacity w/ Field Prep | w/ 1x Res Mod | w/ 2x Res Mod | w/ 3x Res Mod |
Wardcliff Coil | 6 | 7 | 7 | 8 |
Deathbringer | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Gjallarhorn | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Truth | 7 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
Eyes of Tomorrow | 8 | 9 | 10 | 10 |
Two-Tailed Fox | 8 | 9 | 10 | 10 |
- Reminder: in regards to the Inventory Size stat, Exotics are independently tuned; they do have Inventory Size stats like any other Rocket Launcher but that is not what is controlling how much total ammo capacity they can get
- My previous total ammo capacity data had Wardcliff Coil following the same as DeathbringeGjallarhorn/Truth pattern but after Lightfall (or if my previous data was incorrect) it now have the lowest ammo capacity out of all Exotics
- 3x Reserve Mods does not provide an additional Rocket for all Exotic Rocket Launchers, except for Wardcliff Coil
- Wardcliff Coil requires 3x Reserve Mods in order to gain an additional Rocket for its total ammo capacity; 2x Reserve Mods provides no additional Rocket (use 1x and 3x)
+++++ Summaries - Despite some significant changes to the Heavy Weapon meta in Season 20, Rocket Launchers have largely remained untouched compared to Season 19
- No new Rocket Launchers were introduced, nor did we receive any refreshed perk pools for existing ones
- The Hothead [non-Adept] has returned for Legacy Focusing
- We know that Season 21 will have a brand new Rocket Launcher perk, so I expect we’ll get some new/refreshed Rockets then
- Two-Tailed Fox got a catalyst added which adds a third projectile, and its three Rockets perform Elemental synergies (Void: Suppression, Solar: Scorch [60x/90x], Arc: Jolt)
- Season 17’s Bump in the Night no longer has a direct acquisition method but can still drop (with RNG Deepsight Resonance aka Red Border) via the Gunsmith or Xur if they are selling it
- The upcoming (targeted for S21) ‘Deepsight Activation’ method appears to be a more direct way to get recipes on older craftable weapons, so it might be best to wait until then
- Fundamentally the introduction of a mid-tier Reserve Mod hasn’t really shook anything up in regards to Rocket Launcher total ammo capacity
- In the majority of cases you should either run 1x/2x OR 1x/3x Reserve Mods (see table + summaries in the breakdown for more specifics)
- In regards to total ammo capacity, the gap between the usual high-tier suspects (Code Duello, Royal Entry, Red Herring, and Bump in the Night) has widened compared to all other Rocket Launchers
- If you’re after a powerful and ammo efficient Rockets then craft those Enhanced Field Prep Red Herrings and Bump in the Nights!
- Don’t go rushing to shred your old Adept Hotheads though; that is still one of the most powerful Rocket Launchers with Explosive Light for general damage scenarios
- Overflow Hezen Vengeance and Demolitionist Bump in the Night are still some great picks too
- Two-Tailed Fox now aptly has the trifecta: great damage, ammo economy, and synergy
+++++ Post-Posting Edits Section - Edit #1 [few minutes after posting]:
- Forgot to change the S19 (Seraph) icon to the S20 (Defiance) icon; everything else will be related to S20 as normal
- The Hothead should also have a little thumbnail icon next to Explosive Light (this was omitted last version as you couldn't obtain The Hothead; you can now via Vanguard Focusing)

2023.03.28 17:57 804Brady Observer Newsletter story from 2016 about Cody quitting WWE
Cody Runnels, better known as Cody Rhodes and more recently Stardust, quit WWE on 5/21, frustrated with his lack of push.
His wife, Brandi, also known as ring announcer Eden Stiles, followed him, quitting three days later. The latter wasn’t a surprise since when Cody quit she then tweeted how proud she was of him for making the decision. Many figured that was her swan song, but she did come back to work over this past weekend.
The key factor seems to be that his planned return to being Cody Rhodes, agreed upon months ago to happen right after WrestleMania, was nixed by Vince McMahon. This left him with a gimmick that had long since run its course, and he was being booked almost like enhancement talent on B TV shows.
Brandi Runnels on Twitter wrote, “What I’ve been teasing for weeks, I’ve been offered a new opportunity outside of WWE. So I’ve decided to part ways with WWE after tonight.”
Apparently she didn’t give them much notice because they used her on the PPV and when rumors were going around before the PPV that she was gone, which Brandi Runnels claimed were false, those in the company also said the same thing, which would indicate she hadn’t given notice and was just working it out.
Many in the company expected this, feeling with the less than harmonious departure of her husband, that she would probably follow suit, similar to what happened with A.J. Lee after C.M. Punk quit.
Cody Runnels, after quitting, wrote a long statement explaining his decision. He was careful when it came to McMahon and HHH, even though McMahon is the one who nixed his switch and slotted him in the position he was put in.
Instead, he lashed out as the head writers on Raw and Smackdown, Ed Koskey and Ryan Ward, saying “one pretending to be Brain Gewirtz (Koskey is known for being similar to Gewirtz) and the other too busy hitting on developmental divas” (Ward was head of creative with NXT until just recently being moved full-time to the main roster and taken off NXT creative).
Internally, it was the line about hitting on developmental divas that created a stir internally, for obvious reasons. The key is fear that would break out into being a news story that TMZ-style media would go after, but thus far that hasn’t been the case.
Runnels, 30, said. “I would do this job for free, but that didn’t stop WWE from always compensating me in a generous manner.” He also in particular praised Arn Anderson and Fit Finlay as great teachers.
Runnels is considered one of the smartest guys on the roster, and heavily driven. He wanted badly to be a main event star, but those in power didn’t see it in him. Over the years he’s talked to many people and sought out advice on how to be a top star, a position the company, and for that matter, the fans didn’t see him at but he so badly wanted to be at. A lot of talent understands their lot, and is happy to be role players because the money is very good, maybe not what it should be, but it’s better than anywhere else if you’re on the main roster.
Could he have been used better? Of course. But for most of his WWE run, he really was just a guy on the roster, a nice looking guy who was fine in the ring. He seemed to be missing the charisma and the kind of standout level in-ring that has helped a lot of talent today become stars that never would have been in another era because, when appearance was so much more important. The Stardust gimmick was a bad idea even if it had been pushed because it was very much like Damien Sandow as Mizdow, a spoof on Goldust. But it didn’t get over at the same level, and he got no push with it so it didn’t even have a strong run before it ran its course.
It was a short-term gimmick that could leave the person with nothing when it ran its course. As it turned out, Stardust, with the original idea of feuding with brother Goldust, was a feud that didn’t click. And he wasn’t pushed much at all after that, except for being the foil for Stephan Amell in a short program.
When Dusty Rhodes passed away on 6/11, nearly one year ago, Cody took some time off television. His coming back as Stardust no longer made sense. He was in a position where people wanted to like him. They empathized with a guy whose father, a larger-than-life character, had just passed away. Of course that sympathy wouldn’t be there for the long haul. But Stardust was already a dead character by that point. My impression is he wanted to keep the character based on what he wrote at the time, but with the idea of building to the return of Cody Rhodes. They were pushing fans to chant “Cody,” with the obvious long-term of him turning back.
It is believed it was in February when he was told that he’d switch back to being Cody Rhodes. There was a meeting with Vince McMahon. He had all new gear made. He started teasing it on Twitter. Because it never happened, I had thought he was just messing with the Internet. But that actually wasn’t the case. The change was supposed to happen right after WrestleMania, and then Vince McMahon nixed it. He was still doing Stardust, but even with a good performance at WrestleMania, he was on the lowest rung of the totem pole and getting almost no main show television exposure.
“Setting foot in the dingy ol’ Greensboro Coliseum this past Monday can only be described for me as just a whimsical moment of clarity,”
Greensboro was one his father’s hottest arenas after he left Florida in 1984 to work for Jim Crockett Promotions as booker, and was the architect of a few big years during a period people romanticize about and was very strong in 1985 and 1986, drawing 1.9 million paid attendance per year.
When talking about his mentor (who he never mentioned by name, although he appeared to mean his father), said many superlatives have been used to describe him, “but one I often forget about...is fearless. And it’s a trait I wish more of had been passed down my way.”
He noted being in the dressing room, but “being benched” (not used) and sitting there watching a monitor advertising a returning star (John Cena) and seeing his gear bag “to find an outfit I had long outgrown and a face paint kit.”
He said his goal was to win the WWE title, noting that his father never held it, and he’s tried for a decade to convince Vince McMahon and HHH that he could be their top star, but he realized neither saw that in him. And really, it wasn’t as if fans, or anyone, were clamoring for him in that high of a position.
He said he appreciates HHH acting like a custodian of history and honoring his father since his passing. He noted HHH telling him that “WWE is a play, and everybody has their role and needs to act it their best.” He said he was thinking that “The best actors don’t want the lesser roles.”
He noted that for the past six months he’s pleaded to go back to being Cody Rhodes, had pitched every writer “like a door-to-door salesman” on how, why and when. He thanked many for helping him out, noting Brian James, Nick, Faz, J Russo, Dave K (Dave Kapoor), JBL and Michael Cole. But he blasted Koskey and Ward, saying they “continued to not return my pitches or emails, and in face-to-face encounters tried to big league me by pretending to be on their clearly powered off laptops, barely willing to listen to an idea I considered beneficial to more than one talent.”
My reaction reading this, and a few closer to the situation than me had the same one, not knowing the exact dynamics, but it is Vince McMahon at the end of the day, who decides who is and isn’t being pushed. Writers shouldn’t be rude to talent of course. But they are given marching orders on who is to be pushed and who isn’t. In particular, when Vince changed his mind, Koskey and Ward weren’t going to be allowed to do anything with him except perhaps put him in the Social Outcasts-like position, and he wouldn’t have been happy with that spot. You can only look at the pre-Social Outcasts, 3MB, to see the long-term of that role.
He said for ten years he’d done everything he could including what he called the “half-cocked” idea of painting himself up like his brother, he said turning chicken shit into chicken salad had been his specialty.
He made a brass ring reference saying “I felt like I had a bag of those brass rings and when it came time for me to cash them in, I find I can’t do so.”
He said his moment of clarity on 5/16 in Greensboro was, “I realized that I don’t need to sell myself to these two writers captaining a broken unrecognizable system, matter of fact with the time I had put in and the body of work I presented it should have been other way around.”
It’s not unusual for wrestlers to in their minds scapegoat the villains in the company, the roles people like J.J. Dillon, Jim Ross and John Laurinaitis played for years. I couldn’t tell you how many times when someone was let go, it was the hatchet man, or the writers, who took the blame from the wrestlers. “Vince loved me but that John Laurinaitis buried me,” is a typical response. I’ve always thought that the people should know better, but Vince McMahon does have a quality and aura about him and the system is done to help him deflect the heat.
Other writing made it clear that it was a very strong feeling in his mind to honor his father after his death, which in his current role, he couldn’t do. In the role he envisioned, that would be a key part of it. And it could work at first, and you never know for sure what will or won’t click. And obviously he’d have to be more than just Dusty Rhodes’ son.
“It’s been said never to leave money on the table, but no money is worth being less than you are. Ask my wife: I don’t even read the check breakdowns. This was never about the money, this was always about the moments and I’ll be damned if my father’s legacy is Stardust or a series of sizzle reels for NXT.”
He then talked about missing guys in the locker room, mentioning by name Cesaro, Zack Ryder, Tyler Breeze, Kevin Owens, Luke Harper, Kofi Kingston, Tye (Dillinger), The Wasteland (The Ascension) and the NC (which stands for the Nicky Clan, his group of Clash of Clans video gamers).
“Almost one year ago, the biggest light in my sky was ripped away from me when I lost my father. It’s time for me to try and seek that illumination...that glow that’s still out there. This is not a goodbye. There’s a whole world of film and television and the stage that I might find I have a knack for (maybe I even already got an offer). As far as the future is concerned, though, I’m a wrestler. So that’s what I’ll do...wrestle.”
One person close to the situation noted to us that Runnels had been unhappy of late and had, as expected, taken his father’s death hard. I don’t want to get into family stuff but the relationship with Dusty and Cody was very much like Ric Flair and Reid in that their father, even with their schedules, were always there as their biggest supporters growing up. They attended their sports events when they weren’t there often for their older children because of the insane schedule that wrestlers worked when they were in their primes.
Cody was born in 1985, so really from the time he was six years old, Dusty was off the road and the death was very hard on Cody. Dusty’s legacy lasting is a very important thing in Cody’s life because people realize there were gigantic stars in this business, even at the Dusty and Flair level (Jim Londos was far bigger than either just as an example, and even people like Lou Thesz) whose names are largely forgotten. It was noted that Cody dealt a lot with Brian James (Road Dogg). Koskey, for example, does pick and choose who he’ll really give time to and Cody wasn’t one of those people. But that was more directives from Vince, who makes the calls on who he thinks is important and who isn’t, but for all past situations with Ward and people Cody knows or Koskey not giving him the time of day, the buck stops and starts with Vince on who does and doesn’t get angles.
But there is an issue legally right now. Right now he doesn’t know his status in wrestling. If you quit, and he did, WWE traditionally will not allow you to work in pro wrestling or MMA for the duration of the time on the deal. If they didn’t, why would people be signed to contracts in the first place if they could just quit and work elsewhere?
We already saw this issue with Bryan Danielson several months ago, when he wanted to leave and do ROH, New Japan and CMLL, and was outright told that they would not release him from his contract and allow him to work anywhere, claiming the clause that if he doesn’t fulfill the time frame of the contract, it automatically rolls over.
At the same time, C.M. Punk quit, but he hired a strong lawyer and there was the claim of a misdiagnosis of a serious staph infection and threats on his end that forced WWE’s hand and they released him to where he was able to sign with UFC.
At this point, Runnels is tied up. WWE did grant him his release, something they wouldn’t do with Danielson. As of a few days ago, he wasn’t even sure what he could or couldn’t do when it came to wrestling. The split with the company was not smooth at all and the company was making it very difficult on him as far as working anywhere is concerned at this point. If they are no longer paying him, it’s difficult to keep someone from earning a living. But there are a number of issues, such as whether WWE will try and keep him from working with TNA, ROH or New Japan, and whether he would be able to use the name Cody Rhodes. He can go anywhere as Cody Runnels, but he never used the name Cody Rhodes in wrestling prior to WWE because he started there. So they would own the rights to that name even though the name has been used by his family for nearly 50 years. And clearly that’s the name he wants to use.
And there aren’t a lot of options. TNA would probably take him and almost surely allow him to try to be what he would want to be. But TNA is filled with question marks right now. And TNA isn’t a place that it’s easy to build a name or make a reputation these days as compared with a New Japan/ROH combo which is building stars to a certain level. He doesn’t at first feel like the right fit for ROH, in the sense they don’t pay a fraction of what he’s used to. But ROH is far better for him to build his name. He could get work in Europe, but that’s dates here and there and nothing full-time. New Japan is a possibility, and being Dusty Rhodes’ son in that culture does help. But New Japan already has a full roster of foreigners.
There is the opportunity to a degree of proving people wrong that didn’t think you had it to be a top guy, if he can pull it off. Drew Galloway and Ethan Carter III did it to a degree. A.J. Styles did it to TNA in a huge way. But they are few and far in between.
Runnels, Ryback and perhaps Wade Barrett (if he is planning on continuing to wrestle) are all about to be on the independent market. But there are only so many foreign spots in New Japan, and they are pretty close to full. Mexico isn’t an option due to the economy, perhaps past a show here and there. If Sinclair decides to up the ROH budget, or TNA gets new money or new ownership that wants to spend, the situation changes. He doesn’t seem to fit in Lucha Underground, but it’s not like others who haven’t figured to fit haven’t been used there. But they are all but done filming for this year, so even if they do come back for a fourth season, that’s no work until 2017.
Dusty Rhodes, in his heyday, could afford to be fearless. He had dozens of options if he didn’t like it somewhere. In that era, that was the case for not just top talent, but even solid mid-level talent. Cody Runnels will be able to make a living for years, like Carlito, Chris Masters, Tommy Dreamer and several others even just on indies even if he doesn’t end up with a contract with a full-time promotion, although not at the level he’s been making since probably around 2008. But if his goal is to be what WWE wouldn’t let him be, as opposed to a guy filling up a calendar of weekend dates, that’s going to be very difficult.

2023.03.28 16:19 FelicitySmoak_ Song Of The Day Discussion : "Billie Jean"
"Billie Jean" January 2, 1983 - 2nd single from
Thriller https://youtu.be/Zi_XLOBDo_Y Written by Michael Jackson. Produced by Michael Jackson & Quincy Jones. Recorded in 1982 at Westlake Studio
"There never was a real Billie Jean. The girl in the song is a composite of people my brothers have been plagued with over the years. I could never understand how these girls could say they were carrying someone's child when it wasn't true" —Michael Jackson, Moonwalk
According to Jackson's biographer, J. Randy Taraborrelli, "Billie Jean" was inspired by letters Michael received in 1981 from a woman claiming he was the father of one of her twins. He regularly received letters of this kind, had never met the woman and ignored those claims. However, she continued to send letters stating that she loved him and wanted to be with him, asking how he could ignore his own flesh and blood. The letters disturbed him to the extent that he reportedly suffered nightmares. Eventually, he received a parcel containing a photograph of the fan, a gun, and a letter instructing him to die at a particular time. The fan would do the same once she had killed "their" baby, so they could be together in the "next life". The Jacksons later discovered that the fan had been sent to a psychiatric hospital
Jackson said he felt "Billie Jean" would be a success as he was writing it: "A musician knows hit material. Everything has to feel in place. It fulfills you and it makes you feel good. That's how I felt about 'Billie Jean'. I knew it was going to be big when I was writing it." He explained that, hearing it in his head while in his car, he was so absorbed that he did not realize his car had caught fire until a passing motorcyclist informed him
He disagreed with the producer, Jones, about the song. According to some reports, Quincy felt it was too weak to be included on
Thriller, but Jones has denied this.Jones disliked the demo and did not care for the bassline, and wanted to cut Jackson's 29-second introduction. Jackson, however, insisted that it be kept. According to Jones, he conceded when Jackson said it made him want to dance: "And when Michael Jackson tells you, 'That's what makes me want to dance', well, the rest of us just have to shut up."
Jones also wanted to change the title to "Not My Lover", as he believed that people would think the song referred to the tennis player Billie Jean King. Jackson refused to change the title and asked Jones to give him co-producing credits for the track, as he felt that the finished product sounded close to his demo. In addition, Jackson wanted extra royalties. Jones granted him neither and the two fell out for several days
Engineer Bruce Swedien mixed the song 91 times—unusual for Swedien, who usually mixed a song just once. The mixes grew progressively worse, and Jones asked Swedien to listen again to the second mix, which was much better. The second mix was the final version.
"Billie Jean" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, topped the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart within three weeks of it's release and became Jackson's fastest-rising number one single as an adult solo performer. It remained at #1 for nine weeks on the R&B chart. "Billie Jean" peaked at number 9 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It was also number one in the UK Singles Chart. "Billie Jean" and Thriller topped both the singles and album charts in the same week. This occurred on both sides of the Atlantic simultaneously, a feat very few acts have ever achieved. The song was the third best-selling single of 1983 in the US and ninth in the UK."Billie Jean" also reached number one in Canada, Switzerland and Belgium, and the top ten in Austria, Italy, New Zealand, Norway and Sweden. It won the National Association of Recording Merchandisers Gift of Music award for best-selling single in 1984. By 1989, the standard format single was certified platinum by the RIAA. The digital sales of "Billie Jean" were certified gold in 2005. In May 2014, a viral video of a high school-aged teenager imitating Jackson's Motown 25 performance of the song helped the song re-enter the Billboard Hot 100 at #14. "Billie Jean" was certified Diamond on August 29,2022
"Billie Jean" helped
Thriller become the best-selling album of all time, and became Jackson's best-selling solo single.
His performance of "Billie Jean" on the TV special
Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever won acclaim and was nominated for an Emmy Award. It introduced a number of Jackson's signatures, including the moonwalk, black sequined jacket, and high-water pants. In a Top 100 list compiled by VH1 and Entertainment Weekly in 2000, Jackson's performance was ranked as the sixth greatest rock 'n' roll TV moment.Five years later, Entertainment Weekly named Jackson's Motown 25 performance as one of the most important pop culture moments in history. "It was a moment that crossed over in a way that no live musical performance ever had. There was a messianic quality to it", Entertainment Weekly editor Steve Daly commented. David Moynihan of NME wrote in 2009 that "Jackson's status as the world's biggest superstar was confirmed" by the Motown 25 performance
The "Billie Jean" music video, directed by Steve Barron, was the first video by a black artist to be aired in heavy rotation on MTV. They initially refused to air the video for "Billie Jean", as the network's executives felt black music did not fit into "rock"-centered network. Walter Yetnikoff, the president of Jackson's record company CBS Records, was enraged by their refusal to play the video in spite of Jackson's success as a musical artist. Yetnikoff threatened to go public with MTV's stance on racial discrimination: "I said to MTV, 'I'm pulling everything we have off the air, all our product. I'm not going to give you any more videos. And I'm going to go public and fucking tell them about the fact you don't want to play music by a black guy.'"MTV relented and the "Billie Jean" music video debuted on March 10, 1983.After the video was aired in heavy rotation, Thriller went on to sell an additional 10 million copies. It was one of the first videos by a black artist to be aired regularly by the channel
The short film was inducted into the Music Video Producers Hall of Fame in 1992. In a 2005 poll of 31 pop stars, video directors, agents, and journalists conducted by telecommunications company 3, the music video was ranked fifth in their "Top 20 Music Videos Ever".The video was also ranked as the 35th greatest music video in a list compiled by MTV and TV Guide at the millennium. On June 10, 2021, "Billie Jean" became the first 1980s clip by solo artist to reach 1 billion views on YouTube
This song introduced a more paranoid lyrical style for Jackson, a trademark of his later music. Billboard called it a "brilliant piece of writing" and "one of [Jackson's] finest performances." In a Rolling Stone review, Christopher Connelly described "Billie Jean" as a "lean, insistent funk number whose message couldn't be more blunt: 'She says I am the one/But the kid is not my son'". He added that the track was a "sad, almost mournful song, but a thumping resolve underlies [Jackson's] feelings". Blender stated that the song was "one of the most sonically eccentric, psychologically fraught, downright bizarre things ever to land on Top 40 radio". They added that it was "frighteningly stark, with a pulsing, cat-on-the-prowl bass figure, whip-crack downbeat and eerie multi-tracked vocals ricocheting in the vast spaces between keyboards and strings". Overall, the magazine described the track as "a five-minute-long nervous breakdown, set to a beat". Stylus said of the song, "It's one of the best representations of film noir in pop music, ending with no resolution except a single mother and a selfish, careless scumball"
"Billie Jean" was awarded honors including 2 Grammy Awards (Best R&B Song and Best R&B Male Vocal Performance) and an American Music Award (Favorite Pop/Rock single). It won the Billboard Music Award for favorite dance/disco 12" LP, and the magazine's 1980's poll named "Billie Jean" as the "Black Single of the Decade". Cash Box honored the song with the awards for Top Pop Single and Top Black Single. The track was recognized with the Top International Single award by the Canadian Black Music Awards and awarded the Black Gold Award for Single of the Year
In a list compiled by Rolling Stone and MTV in 2000, the song was ranked as the 6th greatest pop song since 1963. Rolling Stone placed it at #58 on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004 & at #44 in its 2021 update of the list. The song was also included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll. "Billie Jean" was named the greatest dance record of all time by BBC Radio 2 listeners
Michael Jackson's original version of "Billie Jean" was remixed by Kanye West for
Thriller 25 Titled "Billie Jean 2008", the remix garnered a mixed reception. Mike Joseph, in a review for PopMatters, says "You've been given the opportunity to remix the most iconic single from one of the most iconic albums of all time, and all you can do is stick a drum machine on top of the song's original arrangement?".Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone disliked the removal of the original bassline
There have been many covers. English musician Ian Brown took "Billie Jean" to number 5 on the UK charts in 2000. American rock musician Chris Cornell recorded "Billie Jean" in 2007. Cornell said of his cover, "I didn't plan on it. It just sort of happened organically. I changed the music quite a bit, I didn't touch the lyrics." He added, "And it's not a joke. I took a completely different approach to it, musically." In 2008, Cornell's version was performed live by David Cook on the seventh season of American Idol, and this version charted on Billboard's Hot 100 at #47.In 2011, Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump covered the song as part of an a cappella medley of Michael Jackson songs, in which he sang all the parts. In 2015, Irish musician EDEN released a remix of "Billie Jean" then separately released a cover of the song with his own vocals
TL;DR -This song is fuckin iconic as it gets! submitted by

2023.03.28 06:19 jessersnake Desperately in need of dystopian recs
It has been years since I’ve read a book that I absolutely adored. Recently, I had a lightbulb moment and realized that all of my favorite childhood books were dystopian fiction. I would love recommendations for adult dystopian novels to reignite my love for reading!
I have read:
The Hunger Games Trilogy, The Maze Runner series, The Unwind Dystology, House of the Scorpion, Among the Hidden, Life as we Knew it, The Giver, City of Ember, Ender’s Game, Ready Player One, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, The Handmaid’s Tale, Dark Matter, Lord of the Flies
I’m currently working on The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin, but it is definitely too fantasy heavy for me. Additionally, I just ordered 1984, as it felt like the most appropriate jumping off point.
Thanks in advance!

2023.03.27 21:40 ivan0x32 WSIB Current grindfest games with no need to play with other people (for the most part)?
To be clear I'm looking for PvE centric games (or with strong PvE).
Games I've played: - Torchlight Infinite - next season is in whole month, waiting for that after grinding this one
- Diablo 3 - boring at this point
- Path of Exile - fuck Chris and his shitty VisionTM.
- WoW - doesn't fit the bill, all the character power is in raids and dungeons and those basically require you to play with other people and deal with their bullshit, also I don't have a PhD in Rocket Propulsion to apply for M+ pugs.
- Destiny 2 - hit 1800ish (gear only ilvl, overall ilvl is 1813 so its even past the recommended one) recently on Arc Hunter and this expansion's zones still feel like bullet sponge fiestas and everything seems to be locked behind some bullshit challenge (namely build enabling exotics are behind Legendary Lost Sectors). I could probably progress to 1810 this week after reset, but I'm not convinced its going to change much. PvE is in a really good spot otherwise though, one of the few games where I can tolerate non-solo content - queue times are very short.
- SWTOR - gearing is kinda fucked right now iirc, they introduced some kind of tokens system and other bullshit, huge downgrade from the previous system where you could just grind out highest ilvl BiS gear solo pretty much.
Games I'm considering: - Genshin Impact - haven't progressed much beyond intro quest, is it worthwhile and how p2w is it (and what's the "payment structure" - is it pay $100 and pray to RNGesus to get some value out of it or more like pay $300 and get a guaranteed win?)
- Undecember - actually not sure if its worth getting into? I barely progressed through campaign last time I played it. Also is crafting still kind of pay2win? I remember something being really dumb about its p2w system, think it was crafting.
I'm basically looking for games where I can progress my character with grind rather than mechanical skill (I was always a potato mechanically and am getting older on top of it) and without dealing with people much. I guess that's most likely ARPGs, but I'm out of those currently. To be clear I'm not against the challenge overall as long as it involves changing tactics/cheesing or even grinding perfect gear.

2023.03.27 21:03 schmeebus Trying my best to rank every Fake immunity idol that's aired on the show
There's a TL;DR at the bottom of this if you'd like, or you can skim through the list it's pretty straightforward.
This list is going to be very subjective, but I'm going to try my best to rank, or at least tier all the fake immunity idols that ever AIRED on the show. No secret scenes, no interviews. So sorry to Wendell, Tony, Val, Gary, Austin, and the countless others who made fake idols that never aired because they had no impact, or weren't ever found/used. I'll list a few criteria I used to rank these, albeit these aren't 100% of what I used to rank them all. Also I'm going to be using the letters FII throughout this to save myself time.
Also I am NOT counting simply just lying about having an idol, nor am I counting fake non idol advantages such as fake legacy advantages. Also if a FII is used more than once for anything I'm including the entire life of the FII instead of each play
Things I am considering
- Effectiveness - How much did the creator of the FII actually benefit from this?
- Believability - Did the person who made the FII actually convince the target that it was real?
- Fallout - How much did the game actually change because of this FII
- Necessity - Was this FII made for a good reason?
- Reaction - Did this turn players/jury members against them for the move?
Things I'm not considering
- TV value - Getting a big reaction doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things
- The design quality, kinda - This morphs into believability a bit, but as long as the FII worked in the target believing in its authenticity, how cool the design looks is ambiguous to me.
ALSO - I'm not ranking the FII's in Survivor 44 because they haven't fully played out yet.
Anyways, lets get into this monstrosity of a list, These will be in tiers, however they are *loosely* ranked from top to bottom with the top being the worst.
Had a Negative effect on the creator
- Nick (DvG) - Backfired because he was a target now with seemingly 2 idols, and to make it worse, it cost him a real idol by falsely reading the room after playing his fake
- Angelina (DvG) - Made for no real reason other than to embarrass someone, and it ruined relationships.
- Romeo (42) - Wasn't believable at all, wasn't the target, cemented his 0 vote status.
- Dale (SJDS) - This one might be the most confusing. He takes something off the well thinking it could be an idol, but then he finds that the tribe idol was found by John and he figures his isn't real, his fake idol then gets outed by Jon as real? To the tribe and is sent home. Unlucky.
Aired but never found
- Yau-Man (Fiji) - Cool design, and he placed it at the location to which the clues led him to find the real one.
Did essentially Nothing in the grand scheme of the game
- Chrissy (HHH) - This is borderline negative, but ultimately winds up here because of the fallout, Chrissy bluffed an idol to ben's face, that Ben already knew was fake, breaking any trust that could have been left between the two.
- Joe (World's Apart) - Joe Tried to convince Mike to switch his vote with the idol, but Mike took it and didn't do what Joe asked anyways, Joe went home the same round.
- Jacob (GI) - He was the target regardless of what was going to happen, the fake idol did force some votes to split but ultimately nothing major changes.
- Abi (Philippines) - Used a scroll from the auction to leverage what was something muddy that could be an idol, but she lacked the agency to leverage effectively.
- Taj (Tocantins) - Could have led to something, but Joe was medevacked the next vote after discovering the fake.
- Bob to Randy (Gabon) - Good TV value, but Randy was gone either way.
- David (MvGX) - Jay finds it, but was ultimately hopeless in the game.
- Jason (Micronesia) - The infamous Stick, didn't add much to the game besides tv value, as even if Jason had gone to the location and seen nothing, it would have been the same as the stick, with it being so unbelievable.
- Kelley (Cambodia) - Gave it to Keith, Keith did nothing of note with it.
- Bob to Ken & Crystal (Gabon) - Nearly caused the opposition to fold but they called the bluff.
A Mixed Bag
- Ron (EoE) - Gave Rick an expired Idol (In the form of an advantage menu), he did get Rick to vote for the person who he wanted him to (Aurora) but Ron was voted out at that TC regardless.
- Dom (GI) - This is the one he got that was the reused fake idol that Jay used, which may have gone a bit overboard with the theatrics, he was already going to be safe likely but this could have marginally decreased his jury favorability with the latter jurors.
- Dom (GI) - This is the one he crafted himself Gained marginal trust with Chris Noble as well as some other original Malolo members, it worked with some, and not with others like James. The round he showed them this, Dom voted incorrectly as original Naviti Morgan went home.
- Shan & Ricard (41) - The bigger move was essentially stealing Genie's idol by convincing her to not open it, however all the advantages eventually led to their rift down the line with the extra vote and such.
- Rick Devens (EoE) - Both of his fakes are super similar so they're going together, they're good because they essentially increased the Deven's theatrics hype train that had been going on at every tribal for a while, but not great in the way that they kinda needlessly embarrassed 2 players, and in bad taste has been shown to hurt your jury chances should you make it there.
Slightly Positive effects
- Ben (HHH) - Made his own fake to bluff at tribal, but the jury ate all of his theatrics up time and time again so I can't argue that it did at least something, even though he took every vote.
Saved a player
- Xander (41) - All time tv value moment for a FII, and this might be why we have so many fakes now. Xander openly has an idol, so he swaps it for a fake with Tiff to throw off the KIP play.
- Rupert (HvV) - Literally just a rock in his pants, but it worked to perfection the idol bulge remains one of the better FII moves of all time.
I didn't exactly rewatch every single scene of these playing out so I'm sure I interpreted a few wrong, but I tried my best to compile as much of these together as possible.
TL;DR
Fake Immunity idols have a very, VERY low hit rate of actually pulling off something that will benefit the creator. According to my rankings, which admittedly don't mean much, FII's have a higher chance of negatively affecting the creator versus a positive one. By a large margin, FII's are likely to do just about nothing in the grand scheme of things in Survivor.

2023.03.27 16:09 kingnixon Enjoyed the Beta
Started out playing as Druid, enjoyed the introduction but not a fan of the amount of click prompts/door openings/walk-with-me-talk-with-me's required to progress. Was good to see most of it was skippable in further play. I think too much story can be a bad thing, I haven't played diablo 1 but I hold diablo 2's cinematics in high regard, they were an exciting reward for having finished an act, diablo 3's cinematics were visually amazing but the cartoonish and over explained dialogue in between really hurt that game.
Playing as druid wasn't that engaging, appears to be some balancing between werebeawerewolf and elemental skills but it wasn't feeling particularly exciting or engaging, having seen snippets of the class exclusive mechanics which seemed to just be perk selections i kinda lost faith. And the wolves and ravens felt kinda dull (werewolves looked neat), Diablo 2 had a summonable bear. Last epoch druid can have giant raptors, sabertooth cats, scorpions and wolves.
So I dropped the druid and started playing Barb. Much more satisfying. the arsenal is a cool system which means more loot to gather and the Mastery system means different ways to proc different debuffs on enemies or buffs on yourself, more layered choices which give options for prior skills. Fell in love with the kick skill, booting baddies into walls and laying into them was fun.
Aspects seemed neat, none of them were too exciting unfortunately, hoping that's remedied down the line. The bones for item crafting and upgrading seem interesting enough, there's some complexity there but not overly so. Not really looking forward to gathering materials and tons of mmo style mini quests for fetch quests.
Looking forward to seeing more on the paragon systems. The possible complexity there is what initially piqued my interest in diablo iv.
Pacing of combat is closer to d2 than d3, more weight, less enemies. I think that is a good thing, dash, managing mana, health pick ups and various cooldowns was reasonably engaging, felt like there was often some delay between actions, not sure if server issues but hoping things will feel a touch more responsive post release. I remember diablo 3 being a mess at release, beta is currently better than that.
I will now consider pre ordering because I was reasonably impressed, co op worked rather seamlessly even during story missions. The only thing really playing in my mind is how messy the servers will be at launch but I trust they'll function nicely a couple of weeks into release.

2023.03.27 15:30 DannyJLloyd (Hypothetical) The British 5th Airborne Brigade Preview
It is speculated that the British
5th Airborne Brigade (5AB) will make an appearance in the future NORTHAG DLC post-release.
The Parachute Regiment, as part of the British task force to retake the Falkland Islands in the Falklands War in 1982, saw fierce combat, scoring victories against a numerically superior and well entrenched Argentine force. It's worth reading up the story of Lieutenant Colonel H. Jones. During the Battle of Goose Green, 2 Para (lead by Jones) was pinned down by heavy fire. Jones was frustrated by the lack of progress, and lead a charge against the Argentine positions. He was shot down, but 2 Para were charged on and the Argentines soon surrendered. For his bravery, Jones was posthumously award the UK's highest military honour, the Victoria Cross. Lieutenant Colonel H. Jones represents the epitome of the British battlefield officer leading from the front.
Following the Falklands War, the 5th Infantry Brigade was converted into 5AB. It consisted of two battalions of the Parachute Regiment, an airmobile Parachute battalion, a Gurkha battalion, and a Parachute Territorial Army battalion. Additionally, all of the support elements including military police, logistics, catering, and all the rest were all considered parachute support elements. Every piece of equipment in the Brigade was air portable in the RAF C-130 Hercules aircraft. Hence, there is a very strong forward deployable theme in this division.
5AB was intended to be deployable to Germany in the event of war within 5 days, though it was expected they could be deployed even faster in a heightened state of alert.
The 5th Airborne Brigade in detail Unit/weapon
New unit/weapon
Credit to Scottfitzz on Discord for some historical corrections and useful insight.
For logistics, they would certainly have a
Rover CP. An airborne
Rover Supply would also make good sense as part of this brigade, similar to the 35th's UAZ.
British airborne and air-mobile forces as of 1988 used the amphibious Supacat all terrain mobility platform for a number of different roles. A supply unit that could fit somewhere between a
Rover Supply and a
Bedford MJ Supply could therefore be the
Supacat Supply. I think this
Supacat Supply could be a nice unit for
transporting towed artillery, as it had specialist trailers able to tow the artillery and ammunition at the same time. They also towed Rapiers during the Gulf War.
5AB's primary fighting force consisted of the very highly trained British
Paratroopers. They would be 8 man teams, with two LMG's. In terms of small arms, Paras were equipped similarly to regular Rifles with the
SA80,
LSW and
LAW80.
Paratrooper Engineers could be easily armed with a
fire support version of the Carl Gustav, which was used extensively against infantry and emplacements by the Paras in the Falklands war. Additionally, a Para version of the 4-man gun group with GPMG's, the
Para Gun Group.
Paras would receive the airborne trait, as well as the shock trait standard for airborne units in Warno. Paratroopers also deserve the
Resolute trait. Their bravery and performance in the Falklands against a numerically superior enemy in entrenched positions, and their rigorous training earns them this trait.
Their transports would be Bedford MJ trucks.
5AB also included two airmobile battalions. One consisted of
Airmobile Paras, that come in RAF
HC1. Pumas or
HC1. Chinooks (of which we've only seen supply variants so far). We should also get the
Airmobile Paras Gun Group. The other airmobile battalion was made from the feared Nepalese
Gurkhas.
Gurkhas are fierce warriors,
famous for carrying a kukri knife. They would be equipped with the
SA80. As for LMG, it would possibly be a
GPMG. Their AT could be a
Carl Gustav or
LAW80. By 1989 their equipment was in-line with the rest of the army, but we don't want too many copycat units; a unique way to differentiate them could be to make them a 12 or 16 man squad deployable in Chinooks, representing additional fire teams (with extra LMG's) in the larger transport helicopter.
Gurkhas also deserve the
Resolute trait.
RMP Paras would be the air deployable military police unit, and would effectively be the regular
RMP, but forward deployable in a
Rover.
Once the main force had been deployed,
a security unit would defend the airhead. Therefore, a new unit with the funny name
Airhead Security with the
Security trait should also be available. These would be equipped only with
SA80's.
Attached to
5AB was the para TA battalion 2nd Battalion The Wessex Regiment for the different
Terriers Paras units already in-game with 1st Armoured, though with only one card of
Milan 2 paras (1st Armoured division purposefully received extra Milan 2 paras and Milan 2's as a forward defence force compared to normal compositions). Airmobile
Milan 1's and 2's would also be common in
5AB, transported via
Lynx's.
Some form of
SAS should feature. A unique transport for them could be a kitted out Supacat, named something like the
Supacat MG. The Supacat could be armed with one GPMG and one 50cal.
As for artillery, the 7th Field Regiment Royal Horse Artillery was moved to Aldershot where
5AB was based, and renamed 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.
5AB would therefore be given forward deployable
L118 105mm guns, and
L16 80mm mortars. This is about the extent of the divisions natural artillery assets, and leaves it rather light.
The 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery also received the
Javelin AD MANPADS as part of its regimental organisation. Hence, the
Javelin Para and
Javelin LML Para feature. During the Falklands, the paras received a couple batteries of
Rapiers, and therefore could be an easy addition to the division in-game. In 1989, the Paras conduced a successful proof of concept by fitting a Javelin LML to the bed of the Supacat for drop zone air defence. Here is a perfect new unit for this brigade, the forward deployable
Supacat LML.
The tank tab is the brigade's biggest weakness by far. It would only really consist of
Rover Milan and
Rover Milan Para, as well as non-recon versions of
Scorpions and
Scimitars. The Supacat could also be fitted with Milan 2's, for a new
Supercat Milan unit, which has a higher ammo capacity than the Rover thanks to it's ability to tow extra ammo behind it. This would put it at a roughly similar strength to 11e's tank tab, but with no KE tank gun and less mobility, and no hard hitting AMX-10 in the recon tab to compensate.
5AB would feature a relatively strong recon tab. Some new units such as
Pathfinders and
RAF TACP would feature.
Pathfinders would drop low 12-24 hours ahead of the main assault, recce the drop zone and suppress local opposition and establish an airhead to allow reinforcements to arrive. These were elite and specialist trained 4 man units (
possibly with a sniper rifle), with Very Good optics, deployable in a
⧝ Rover with two GPMGs. RAF TACP on the other hand, would provide a Reservist recon unit of 4 men. TACP (Tactical Air Control Party) units effectively act as spotters for air support. Two units of
RAF TACP were attached to the brigade (also parachuted in).
The Blues & Royals were expected to deploy with 5AB. That means lots of
Scorpions,
Scimitars, and
Fox recon units. This provides literally the entirety of the brigade's armoured vehicles.
SAS Patrol and
Sniper units would also make sense here. While quite a strong tab, they lack a dedicated Exceptional optics recon unit, and would rely upon the SAS Patrol's GSR to provide that.
Lynx and Gazelle helicopters were aplenty with 5AB, providing logistics, transport, and fire support. These would naturally include recon
Gazelle, Gazelle AH.1 [RKT], Lynx AH.1 Helarm, and Lynx AH.7 Helarm. The Lynx AH.7 could also be armed with
2 40mm rocket pods, 2 20mm Oerlikon autocannons, or a M134 minigun. Hence, we may see
Lynx AH.7 [RKT],
Lynx AH.7 Cannon, and
Lynx AH.7 Scout (Good optics transport for recon units?). While there would be a lot of helicopters here, none of them are very strong with a max of 6HP and underwhelming loadouts. The I-TOW performs well vs most PACT tanks, though.
To make up for a lack of aggressive armour, the air tab should be quite strong with the renowned RAF. New units could include
Harrier GR.5 and GR.7's. The
Harrier GR.5 was the first of the British Harrier II series. Compared to the GR.3's in game, GR.5's have a better ECM, but are still limited to AIM-9 Sidewinders for A2A defence.
Harrier GR.7's are
just in the uchrony timeframe (1991/Gulf War for NATO), as GR.7 had it's maiden flight in 1990 and 34 GR7's were delivered in 1991. The GR.7 has improved ECM compared to the GR.5, as well as better night vision optics. With regard to payload, it's very similar to the GR.3, but improved ECM (30% and 40% for GR.5 and GR.7 respectively), and possibly faster engines is still pretty good. The Harrier didn't get the Paveway until the mid/late 90's, so is OOTF.
We could also see the
Blackburn Buccaneer with Paveway II laser guided bombs, or EW weapons. This would be the UK's main LGB aircraft, and a perfect inclusion for 5AB.
There's also opportunity for ground support versions of the
Phantom F.3, including SNEB rockets and different free-fall bombs, similar to the US's F-4E's with the option to go up to 454kg bombs. They'd be very similar to the Jaguar lineup, but slightly lower ECM (20% vs 30%).
What else could be added? Two RAF Regiment Light Armour Squadrons were stationed nearby for providing defence in depth for air bases and patrolling. But they were also to act as a rapid-reaction force. So
R.A.F. Rifles could easily make an appearance (in
FV432 Spartans however), and would be an interesting cheap inclusion, giving the full spectrum of infantry quality (reservist, Terriers Paras, the new elite Paratroopers and Gurkhas, and SAS). They also provide an armoured transport which no other unit would have in this division. RAF
Rapiers would also make the inclusion of Rapiers pretty straightforward.
Scorpions were also part of these RAF Regiment Squadrons, so that could be the non-recon TANK tab version...
RAF Scorpion with reservist trait. Truly a crap unit, but a unit nonetheless. These regiments also included a L7A2 GPMG squad, so a new
R.A.F. MAG 7,62mm with the
reservist and
security traits could be added for something a bit different.
NORTHAG's air defence organisation, Second Allied Tactical Air Force, was commanded by the RAF. This gives some options for attachments to this Brigade that could feel quite natural...
3rd Armoured division already assists 2nd Infantry Division ingame (as per the 2ID dev blog) with Challengers and Arm. Rifles in Warriors. So either 3rd has detached enough, or it could share some regular
Rifles and
Chieftain Mk.9/11's. However, I think this would make the division too similar to US 82nd Airborne with their M1IP Abrams. A single card of
Arm. Rifles in
Warriors would make it the most different of the other NATO airborne divisions by having some heavy mechanized infantry to call in. However, I think any of these ideas around 3rd AD supporting 5AB ruins the flavour a little.
The US had a small contingent of
F-15C's and
A-10s here, but I don't think they're necessary.
The Belgian air force had a few
F-16's,
Mirages and
Alpha Jets that could be a fun inclusion, as well as
MIM-23 HAWKs. With the Rapiers and RAF, I think this attachment isn't necessary.
Netherlands are likely to make an appearance in the NORTHAG DLC, and a small feature in this division could be another place to include them. They could bring fightebomber
NF-5A Freedom Fighers, as well as
F-16A's,
I-HAWKs,
Patriots, and
40mm Bofors. I think this would be the most interesting inclusion to the division overall (even without the Patriots!).
In summary The easiest way to describe the division would similar to France's 11e Parachutiste. However, I think it would feature stronger infantry and AA, but worse armour and helicopters. Otherwise, it's very much on par with everything else. Those small changes would make it a different playstyle to 11e, 82nd, and 35th and it would be a lot of fun overall.
I hope you found that interesting!
