Random Nighttime Wilderness Encounter Table
2023.06.10 05:54 DnDBambi Random Nighttime Wilderness Encounter Table
| So I'm running SKT and they have a nicely detailed random encounter table for day time travel, but I also really wanted something for the nighttime while the party are trying to safely rest. So I made this! I added a few unique ideas/suggestions I'd seen around the internet while also creating a few of my own. I had my own party in mind for this (4 x Lv. 6) but I'm hoping it's universal enough to adapt for any party! Feel free to use and let me know what you think :) Random Nighttime Wilderness Encounter Table - At the beginning of each night/long rest, roll a d20. On a result of 12-20 a nighttime encounter occurs. Roll a d100 and consult the table based on the party's current location
- Roll a d4 (reroll 4s) to determine if the encounter occurs on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd watch of the night
- Once they have their first nighttime encounter, the d20 range shrinks by two for every future nighttime encounter thereafter until they reach the next settlement, upon which, the range resets. This is to prevent there being an encounter every single night they're on the road and not bogging down gameplay. Feel free to adjust these DCs if you want less or more random encounters.
- After first nighttime encounter, new range = 14-20
- After second nighttime encounter, new range = 16-20
- After third nighttime encounter, new range = 18-20
- After four nighttime encounter (and every encounter after) a Nat20 must be rolled to receive a new encounter
The Table Encounter Table Notes: Abominable Yeti: - A single abominable yeti ambushes the party hungering for flesh and blood. If the party manage to defeat this yeti, there is a 30% chance that 1d3 regular yetis show up after battle, drawn in by the sounds of combat and the scent of blood
Bandits/Barbarians: - You can choose between bandits or barbarians for this encounter based on the location and frequency of previous encounters
- Bandits:
- 1 bandit captain and 3d6+2 bandits
- Mounted on riding horses
- 25% chance they attack without warning
- Promises the party not to attack if they 'pay a toll' (no less than 100gp of treasure)
- Is this a potential way to introduce the 'Happy Fun Ball'?
- Treasure: Each bandit carries a pouch containing 1d10gp. The bandit captain’s pouch holds 2d10gp and 1d6 gems worth 100gp each
- Uthgardt Barbarians:
- Hostile group of Uthgardt barbarians made up of 4d6 tribal warriors, and 1 Uthgardt shaman (Appendix C). If the total number rolled is great than 20, add 1d3 berserkers and a tribal chieftain (berserker w 90hp)
- If dealing with the Gray Wolf tribe, use the werewolf stat block for all berserkers and chieftains (+90hp) and add 1d4 wolves as animal companions
- Uthgardt Barbarian General Info
- Black-haired and blue-eyed people
- Take their name from Uthgar Gardolfsson, a hero chief who battled giants and conquered much of the North before ascending to godhood
- Currently 11 tribes scattered across the north
- They speak Bothii (their own language) and most speak common
- Their spirit mounds are sacred as it's a place where tribe members gather to revere Uthgar, honour their ancestors, make sacrifices to their totem animal spirit, and choose a new Great Chief
- Uthgardt fear magic so much so that they attempt to kill and dismember any spellcasters they meet
- Tribal shamans aren't attacked because their power comes from spirits of their dead ancestors
- Tribes will unite against a common enemy, like a giant (whom they hate most of all)
- Each tribe consists of 1 Great Chief, 2-5 chieftains, and 1-3 shamans depending on the size of the tribe

- Great Chief - Recently slain Syken Nightblaze
- Syken was slain by adventurers from Neverwinter
- His daughter, Envir Sykensdottir, now controls the pack and plans to attack Neverwinter to prove she should be named the next Great Chief of the tribe
- Potentially run a surprise encounter if the party ever goes to Neverwinter
- The tribe roams in packs with ordinary wolves
- Will hunt down and kill those who survive their attacks to prevent the spread of lycanthropy to non-tribal members
- The only members of the tribe who possess lycanthropy are the chieftains and berserkers. The rest of the tribe are regular tribal warriors
- In an encounter have all barbarians start out in human form, then have them use their 'Shapechanger' action on their first turn to turn into a Hybrid or Wolf form and freak the party out
- Lycanthropy Cure: Can be cured with a 'Remove Curse' or 'Greater Restoration' spell
- Great Worm Tribe
- Based themselves at Great Worm Cavern and strike out occasionally to defend their territory (surrounding mountains, Feel Pass, Frost Hills, Lurkwood, and the northern reaches of the Silver Marches)

- His rivals are circling and preparing to unseat him
- Thunderbeast Tribe
- Currently hiding in the depths of Lurkwood preparing for a 'stampede' through the Surbrin Hills and the Dessarin Valley to the south
- Spirit mound - Morgur's Mound (hasn't been visited in years)

- Great Chief - Boorvald Orcbane (male - honourable and a protector)
- Declared themselves the protectors of the Grandfather Tree after years of conflict with other tribes and the elves of the High Forest
- Rarely seen outside of the forest
- Boorvald hunts orcs and frequently launches attacks against the Iceshield orc-holds along the western edge of High Forest
- Boorvald has 6 sons and 3 daughters, each of whom was given an "Oathbow" from the tribe's elf neighbours as a gift of friendship
- The tribe contains tribal warriors from other tribes who came to the Grandfather Tree, gained enlightenment, and forsook their allegiances to pledge to help the Tree Ghosts protect the Grandfather Tree
Bioluminescent Lights: - Depending on the location, this can be represented as bioluminescent lights or more of a aurora borealis in the night sky
- The party, or person on watch, notices a faint glow coming from nearby in the camp. A small pond (or tree/shrub/etc) is emitting a faint, beautiful glow that seems to be a wonder of nature
- Describe how the lights beautifully dance and shimmer in the night
- The effect is harmless and the party can spend as much or as little time engaging with it as they want
Blights: - 2d4+1 vine blights and 2d4+1 needle blights attack the party in the night
- The vine blights move in close and camouflage using their False Appearance ability. Once they're within 20ft, they run forward and use their Entangling Plants ability to subdue the party
- The needle blights then move within 30ft and release a volley of needles at the party from a distance
- Alternatively, the party may happen to set up camp in a congregation of unmoving vine blights who are relying on their False Appearance to strike when the party is caught off-guard. The needle blights join in later in the combat
Bodak: - A single bodak is drawn to the party's campsite by the light/noise, following its mission from Orcus to spread death across the Material Plane
- Any non-war trained animals will flee right before this encounter takes place
- If it fits in your narrative, the bodak can be a fallen NPC that one of the players used to know. It is seeking out all allies and enemies from its past life to wipe them from existence
- Increase the HP if a single bodak doesn't pose much of a challenge
Dire Wolves: - 3d4 dire wolves encircle and ambush the party at night
- The wolves won't attack outright. They will surround and then slowly close in on the party, giving anyone a chance to do something that might scare them off before combat begins (PC Intimidation check vs Wolves Insight check)
- Potentially nominate a pack leader that will have an impact on how this plays out
- If the party don't do anything or fails to intimidate the wolves, they will attack
- If things aren't going well for the party, you can have the wolves' survival instinct kick in if their numbers are reduced to less than the number of still-threatening PCs
Displacer Beasts: - 1d4+2 displacer beasts ambush the party either for food or just general sport
- One displacer beast might lash out at the party in an attempt to draw them away from the group to a location where the rest of the pack are waiting for a bloodier ambush
Ghosts: - 1d4 ghosts appear and attack the party
- If a 1 is rolled, a solitary, sad-looking ghost appears in the middle of their camp and sings a haunting song, then walks to where its grave is marked by a filthy stone. If the party ignore the ghost or leave the grave alone, nothing happens and the ghost remains suspended in the air looking at the grave until the party leaves. It they clean the grave site out of respect for the dead, the ghost disappears and turns into a shower of 777 silver pieces. If they desecrate or disrespect the grave for some reason, it attacks
- If it attacks, bump its HP up to 60 so it poses somewhat of a challenge
Ghouls: - 1d4+4 ghouls attack the party led by 1 ghast
- The ghast will give orders to the ghouls to attack who it feels is the strongest party member
- If ghouls are attacked while feasting on a paralysed creature, they will drag their prey their full movement (half speed) away while also continuing to use their bite on their paralysed victim
Giant Snakes: - 1d4+1 giant constrictor snakes slither into the campsite and attempt to snap up a tasty meal
- You can have the snakes appear and pause, waiting to see the party's reaction, to give your PCs a chance to do something that might prevent this from being a combat encounter
Magical Glowing Mushrooms: - Tasha's Cauldron of Everything - Magic Mushrooms (pg. 166)
- The party stumbles across a collection of magic mushrooms near their campsite, radiating this magical glow
- Those proficient in Medicine, Nature, or Survival can surmise that these are not naturally forming mushrooms and with a DC12 roll, can recall stories of magical mushrooms and how some can save lives or bestow unusual powers when consumed
- If a mushroom is eaten, roll a d10 to determine its effects:
- 1: The creature’s skin turns an unusual colour. Roll a d4:
- 1 - Purple with yellow splotches
- 2 - Bright orange with tiger stripes
- 3 - Tree-frog green with red squiggles
- 4 - Hot pink with yellow spots
- This change is permanent unless removed by a Greater Restoration spell or similar magic.
- 2: The creature gains the enlarge or reduce effect (50 percent chance of either) of the Enlarge/Reduce spell for 1 hour.
- 3: The creature regains 5d8 + 20 hit points.
- 4: Vocally, the creature can only cluck and croon like a chicken. The creature can also understand and speak to chickens. This curse lasts for 1 hour unless ended by a Remove Curse spell or similar magic.
- 5: The creature can understand and speak all languages for 1d4 days.
- 6: The creature gains the benefits of the Telepathy spell for the next 24 hours.
- 7: The creature gains the benefits of the Speak with Plants spell for 8 hours.
- 8: The creature immediately casts the Time Stop spell, requiring no components. Constitution is the spellcasting ability for this spell.
- 9: The creature immediately casts the Detect Thoughts spell, requiring no components. Constitution is the spellcasting ability for this spell.
- 10: Magical mists pour out of the creature’s eyes and ears, acting as a Fog Cloud spell for 1 hour that is centred on the creature and moves with it.
Oni: - An old halfling woman with a small glaive will approach the party's campsite looking for a place to rest and some company to talk to
- The glaive is a custom weapon made for a halfling that she's had since she was a young woman. She's pretty handy with it but getting quite slow in her older age. It's her only form of protection as she travels
- The old woman is really an oni who has used it's Change Shape ability to be able to get closer to its prey
- When the oni feels the party is no longer believing its lies or has completely let their guard down, it will attack
- This attack may begin with a Cone of Cold to surprise the party, and then on its next turn it will transform into its true giant form. Or it could also start with the oni transforming prior to combat, then on its first turn casting Invisibility on itself to create a sense of fear amongst the party
Owlbear Pack: - A loud, deep hooting sound can be heard throughout the night, not close but not too far from the campsite. The hooting sounds like it comes from something much louder than a regular owl
- Players who made a successful DC12 Perception check, notice off in the distance a pack of 5 owlbears slowly moving through the terrain in single-file
- There is a large owlbear at the head of the line, and another large owlbear bringing up the rear. In the middle of them are three smaller offspring
- They don't appear to be hunting at this moment, just moving from A to B
- Unless the party does something to draw the pack's attention, they will move on into the night
Owlbears: - 1d4+1 hunting owlbears will spring into the party's campsite, hunting them for food
- If a total of 5 is achieved and you feel this encounter is way too deadly for your group, have the hunting pack be a family made up of two adult owlbears and three younger offspring (40hp) who are hunting for their first time (no multiattack)
- If an offspring is killed, the parents will fight to the death with unbridled fury seeking vengeance
- If both parents are killed off, the offspring will flee
- If only 2 owlbears are rolled and you feel this encounter too simple, max out their hit points (91hp)
Pegasus: - A glimmering, white pegasus descends from the sky and lands not far from the party's campsite, looking for a place to drink, eat, or temporarily rest
- If this occurs along a road/trail, the pegasus won't land, but will instead gracefully soar past the party, basking in the night air
- Pegasi are usually quite jumpy, so will immediately take off into the sky if any loud noises are made or it is attacked
- However, if a good-aligned character can quietly approach and succeed on a DC15 Animal Handling check, the intelligent creature will stay grounded and watch the character as it approaches
- Narrate a peaceful interaction between the two before the pegasus takes its leave and flies off into the night
- If a character tries to mount the pegasus they will need to succeed on a DC25 Animal Handling check
- A failure will result in the pegasus bucking them and flying off
- A success, and the pegasus will just stand there, MAYBE briefly trot around, before indicating for the character to get off and then saying goodbye and flying off
Revenant: - 1 revenant stumbles into the party's campsite, appearing initially like a zombie, but will begin speaking to the party. Very much unlike a zombie.
- The revenant says he has come to seek justice for the wrongs the party did to him, killing him in such a brutal manner and taking the life of his greatest love, Kella. The party will then see past the unfamiliar face and recognise him as the slain leader of the Seven Snakes, Xolkin
- As Xolkin has sworn vengeance on the party, he can now only be completely destroyed by either using a Wish spell when his soul is bodiless, the party just straight-up dying, or the party survives for over a year from when the vengeance was enacted. After one of these has occurred, the Xolkin's body will crumble to dust and his soul will fade into the afterlife
- If Xolkin can't beat them in this first encounter, next time he appears, it will be with weapons and backup (spectres, wights, ghasts, etc). He won't quit until he is successful, making sure each future encounter is harder and more challenging
Stormy Night: - The clouds final erupt and the remainder of the night is filled with thundering rain and high winds
- Rain can be replaced with a blizzard if the party is in the upper mountains or far-north sections of the continent
- Unless one of the party members has a way to avoid/negate the rain and wind (such as Leomund's Tiny Hut for example), the party has a very restless nights sleep
- They gain the effects of a Long Rest but everyone also gains one level of Exhaustion and cannot recover any previous levels of exhaustion
Undead: - A single wight leads an undead army to attack the party. The army is made up of 2d6 zombies and 1 ogre zombie
- If the number of zombies rolled is less than 6, replace the single ogre zombie with 1d4 ogre zombies
- The wight will send the horde of zombies in first while it attacks from range to begin with, then moving in closer for melee
Vampire: - A figure will emerge out of the darkness, staggering a little. They make no effort to stealth either. They are friendly and will comply with whatever reasonable requests the cautious PCs make
- They will reveal themselves to be a vampire, in dire need of blood. They will ask for a donation, but if refused, will walk away disappointed
- If the player does contribute blood, the vampire will thank them, and next time this encounter is rolled, the vampire may have a gift for them (magic item, gold/platinum, jewels, etc)
- The player may choose to drain some blood into a vial or pot for the vampire to then drink, or they may choose to let the vampire bite them. Regardless of the way, they will take 1d6 piercing/slashing damage (based on how they draw the blood), then 3d6 necrotic damage, and their max HP is reduced by that amount until the end of a long rest
- If concerns are raised, the vampire will assure them that a simple bite isn't enough to turn someone. They must be killed with a bite and then buried in the ground to rise as a vampire
- If the party is very brazen and choose to attack the vampire, it is the DM's choice whether the vampire straight away flees, or decides to bite a character to take some blood by force to teach them a lesson for their rudeness, then flee
Will-o'-Wisps: - A cluster of 1d6+1 will-o'-wisps appear and start floating around the campsite
- Initially the wisps will appear as beautifully coloured, bobbing lantern lights offering hope and safety
- Eventually the wisps will surround the party and launch a surprise attack
- Alternatively, you can have the wisps attempt to lure the party away from the campsite by somehow beckoning them to follow. From here the wisps will lead the party into some sort of hazardous trap like quicksand pits or monster lairs so they can feed on the suffering of their prey and revel in their death screams
- If you are considering this option, potentially reduce the wisp numbers to only 1d4
If you're interested in the possibility percentages that went into calculating these d100 results, you can see them in this picture here: Wilderness Encounter Possibility Calculations If you would like all of the above in a neat PDF format, you can download it here. 2023.06.10 05:45 sookie_stacks Advice needed - 3days diarrhea, now blood
Hello-
Have a vet appt tmw at 8 am but need advice while I stress out. 60 lb out mix male neutered dog. History of frequent anal gland expressions, in hydrolyzed diet due to gut sensitivity. Timeline of events
Sunday: 2 p.m, noticed licking at butt. Made mental note to call Vet on Monday and schedule anal gland expression. Dog gets these regularly (every 1-2 months).
Sunday: 4 p.m. shaking, yelping, lethargic. Take to Vet ER. sedate, do rectal exam. Nothing found except one full gland. Discharged.
Sunday night- Monday morning: dog extremely restless, not coming out of sedation well, bad night of sleep
Monday morning: dog guarding rear, tail tucked, take back to ER. Sedated and checked. Told either inflammation or muscle strain. Prescribed carprofen and gaba.
Monday evening: finally returning to normal. Primary vet check up scheduled for following Monday.
Tuesday: doing well, no concerns.
Wednesday: last morning of regular stool. Noticed liquid (no solid at all) diarrhea starting in afternoon. Appetite normal. Took off carprofen per primary vet, still on gaba and added probiotic and omeprazole per vet.
Continued Diarrhea, still not one bit of solid stool and multiple accidents in home overnight wed-today. Moved up primary vet check up to 8am tmw. More lethargic, clearly just not feeling well. Evening meal- did not finish all food, less energetic, etc.
30 min ago: accident in home. Blood in “stool” aka liquid. Called ER, told use my judgement but can wait till primary care in morning.
Was something missed? Should my primary care have pushed to see dog sooner? I’m the one that moved it tomorrow instead of waiting Monday.
Advice/reassurance appreciated.

2023.06.10 05:14 DodgaCactuar 28 M searching for portential friends
Hey, I'm a 28 year old that's looking for a new group of friends to play games with. I'm a very shy quiet person at start but I warm up eventually and I've been told that i'm a delight to talk to. I suffer from mental issues that impair me with the ability to speak properly and know what to say at times but I try my best to communicate. So bare with me if I mess up but I usually try not to mess up. I'm a pc gamer that usually plays rpgs, mmos, games like Terraria n Stardew Valley. Been on the hunt for some new friends to play games with that don't mind me being a bit slow at times and a lil shy at first (I warm up really fast if I'm comfortable.) I'm a goofball and I tend to make dad jokes a lot. So if you like hearing cringey dad jokes. Then you'll enjoy having me around xD. I tend to work on games n have no sleep schedule at all. Whenever, I try to get one going it always fails without a hitch so I mostly gave up on it. I tend to have disabilities that affects my ability to conversate so it's a bit rough for me sometimes and I tend to mess up or word things wrong. If interested in meeting me hmu for my discord or other stuff. I also plan on getting back into Genshin so if you play as well I wouldn't mind having ppl join. I look forward to meeting new ppl :) Really looking to find people that want to play Genshin with me. Lmk if you're interested. Would be interested in talking to people who aren't really smokers, drinkers or such (I'm trying to avoid that type of group). And as you can tell from the header I am a huge LotR fan. All hail the Nazgul! I also would like to know beforehand if you don't think we will work out after a while instead of ditching me out of the blue.

Marginalia Schedule Chapter Summaries:
Chapter 46: Unlimited Credit: As part of a plan to win the good graces of Danglars’ and Villeforts’ families, Monte Cristo instructs Bertuccio to purchase Danglars’ two most beautiful horses for twice their asking price. These horses belong to Madame Danglars, as Monte Cristo is aware. Monte Cristo attached these two horses to his coach and visited Danglers at home in order to open an unlimited credit account with him. This act both astonishes and humbles Danglars.
Chapter 47: The Dappled Grays: While Monte Cristo is still at the Danglar’s residence, Madame Danglars is told that her horses have been sold and she sees them attached to Monte Cristo’s carriage. She became enraged at her husband for selling them. While Monte Cristo excuses himself from the argument, along with Madame Danglar’s lover, Lucien Debray, he does return the horses later as a gift. Knowing Madame de Villefort will be borrowing the horses the next day, Monte Cristo arranges for the horses to become wild while they pass his house. As the runaway horses go by, with the panic-stricken Madame de Villefort and her son, Edward, Ali, Monte Cristo’s servant, lassos them easily, saving mother and son. Edward passes out from fear, and Monte Cristo uses a special potent elixir to revive him.
Chapter 48: Ideology: Villefort visits Monte Cristo in order to thank him for saving his wife and son. Monte Cristo engages Villefort in a conversation in which they compare civilized criminal justice systems to natural justice. Villefort reveals that his father, Noirtier, once one of the most powerful Jacobins and senators in France, has been paralyzed by a stroke.

2023.06.10 04:34 PlsInsertUsername MTS Bus Service Changes: Effective Sunday, June 11, 2023
Hey everyone,
It's that time of the year where MTS has service changes. The following information is
taken from their website and directly affects UCSD students who uses the buses (since these bus routes stop at Gilman & Myers, i.e., Gilman Transit Center)
Bus Route | Changes |
30 | Weekday midday frequency is increased to every 15 minutes. Also, due to construction at UC San Diego, the Gilman Transit Center stop for southbound Route 30 will be relocated two blocks west on Gilman Drive, between Library Walk and Mandeville Lane. Also, weekday and Saturday schedule adjustments. |
41 | Due to construction at UC San Diego, the last stop for northbound Route 41 will be on Gilman Drive at Russell Lane (next to BluPeak Credit Union). For passengers boarding southbound Route 41 at Gilman Transit Center, please use a new stop located three blocks west on Gilman Drive, between Library Walk and Mandeville Lane. |
201/202 | Due to construction at UC San Diego, the Gilman Transit Center stop for Route 201 will be relocated two blocks west on Gilman Drive, between Library Walk and Mandeville Lane. (No changes for Route 202.) |
921A | Due to construction at UC San Diego, the last stop for westbound Route 921A will be on Gilman Drive at Russell Lane (next to BluPeak Credit Union). For passengers boarding eastbound Route 921A at Gilman Transit Center, please use a new stop located three blocks west on Gilman Drive, between Library Walk and Mandeville Lane. |
To summarize:
- The Gilman & Myers bus stop where the 201, 41 (to Fashion Valley), 30 (to Old Town), and 921A (to Miramar College) stops at will be relocated to Gilman & Mandeville.
- The Gilman & Myers bus stop where the 202 and 30 (to UTC) stops at is unaffected.
- The 30 will have 15-minute frequencies again (weekday midday).
Also, more so a reminder, but the 201
A and 202
A buses will not be running during finals week. This shouldn't be a huge deal, though, but if you rely on the 202A to get to school, be sure to plan around that.
Likewise, the 41 overflow buses (starting from, and ending at, Genesee & Balboa) will not be running. Same idea, be sure to plan (especially if you take the 41 to school).
Finally, I don't think there's been any confirmation from NCTD's side (since they run the 101 which also goes to UCSD), but I would expect the same thing to happen in terms of them stopping at Gilman/Mandeville.

2023.06.10 04:09 PresidentStone Dog has neurological damage after emergency vet treatment. Testing the waters.
Hey all, looking for potential legal advice as my girlfriend is devastated and would like some guidance in case things take a turn for the worse.
We live in Maine & our dog's regular vet is in Maine, but the Animal Hospital we went to is in New Hampshire.
Had a scheduled tooth extraction with our regular veterinarian for Tuesday, May 30th. Dog came out okay, was eating fine all day Wednesday & into Thursday morning. Thursday night she ate about 25% of her food. Friday was nothing but we thought it was her being a pain (she's gotten a bit stubborn in her old age wanting human food).
Saturday she is breathing bad, not eating or drinking, so we call up the animal hospital as our vet is closed on weekends. Hospital tells us to come in so we do. She is diagnosed with pneumonia & a raised trachea / blockage, they can't tell without doing putting a scope down her throat.
They give her meds & offer to keep her over night. We say no, they give us meds to take home as well.
Meds were An appetite stimulant - didn't work Anti Nausea Meds - No clue, dog didn't really eat. Antibiotic One - Worked Antibiotic Two - May have worked, but a side effect is neurological disorders.
After the hospital we notice she can't / won't walk, specifically her back legs. She can feel them, they're just floppy and useless. We give her the meds as directed and hope her legs go back to normal. Sunday comes, nothing, no improvement for the legs but her breathing is better.
We went to the regular vet on Monday. No pneumonia, but a little bit of fluid in the lungs. Vet tells us to stop Antibiotic Two as it can cause neurological disorders and the dosage from the hospital was too high which might have caused the leg issue.
Our vet has been fantastic and the dog has been slowly improving, gaining some use of her back legs, drank for a few days by herself, ate a tiny amount. But the past 2 days she's stopped eating again and has lost use of her back legs almost completely.
Vet called today asked how she was doing and if I wanted to come in, said I'd think about it and 10 minutes later the dog had a seizure (1st one ever), so we went in. Given another appetite stimulant and got some water injected into her. Also given some food to mix with water & put in a syringe to force feed her.
Vet said we're basically at the end of all treatments without an MRI (Which she doesn't have in the office & doesn't recommend). Next step is putting her down, which we're not quite ready to do, but preparing for.
Dog had another seizure 3 hours ago from writing.
My girlfriend wants to sue the hospital / hospital vet if the dog dies. I'm just looking for a step in the right direction, but don't feel right about suing. I can see my girlfriend's point of view 100%, the dog is sick & could die from this visit.
However the hospital vet was really nice, overworked & understaffed, plus she was pregnant. I don't think it was deliberate & I don't want her to lose her job. What I believe we would be suing for is
Time off work - We got paid using our PTO, but would want compensation for hours used. Medical costs - From Saturday's Hospital visit to however long it progresses till the dog dies. Small emotional damages - My girlfriend is a wreck.
Thank you for your replies. I'm sorry if this was hard to read, writing is not my strong suit.

2023.06.10 04:01 beannutrition Mast Cell Tumor Advice
Hello everyone,
My dog Kiki grew a small bump on her chest about a year ago. I initially took her to the vet but they stated that it was probably just a cyst and just to keep an eye on it (never once mentioned it could be anything severe like an MCT so I had no idea) flash forward a year and my new vet did a fine needle aspirate to double check and it turned out to be an MCT - she did not give me a grade but stated that it was good that it never grew in size. I'm going to schedule her surgery but she gave me two options: she stated that she was confident that she could remove it because it had not grown in size (only about the size of a penny) and it is on her stomach which is an easier place for her to remove, OR I could consult an oncologist surgeon that could remove it but they are known to be extremely aggressive and sometimes remove more than necessary leading to poor healing.
Because it was left alone for a year what should I do? My girl is only 5 years old and I truly cannot lose her but I also don't want to make her miserable if they take too much off. The tumor never grew in size or burst/scabbed or anything. It has stayed in the same place and the same size since I initially found it. Overall i'm just so broken that I believed that first vet, I should have known that something was wrong. Any encouragement would be greatly appreciative as I am falling down a rabbit hole and convincing myself that my best friend is going to die soon.

2023.06.10 03:57 leapsthroughspace Range of outcomes for mammary tumor?
- Species: Dog
- Age: ~6
- Neuter status: Spayed last winter
- Breed: Golden
- Weight: 65lbs
- History: Sandy was an outdoor breeder dog until last November, when she was given to a rescue in my area. She was fostered and spayed with the rescue. I’ve been her forever home since December 2022.
- Clinical signs: Had red spots and a puffy nipple for a few days. The vet took a sample that came back consistent with a malign mammary tumor. Sandy has had somewhat heavy panting/breathing the whole time I’ve had her, possibly because she is a bit overweight (she’s lost five pounds with me and has five to go!). She’s less energetic than many other goldens, but she isn’t lethargic.
- Duration: The red spots and puffiness a few days. The panting as long as I’ve had her.
- Location: Mid-Atlantic
- Image of the inflamed area: https://ibb.co/ZVxq3qY
I took Sandy in for this discoloration and had it tested for cancer because of her background. Test came back “consistent with a malignant mammary tumor” this evening. I was able to schedule surgery to remove it for Monday the 19th.
I was so in shock when the vet told me that I didn’t ask what the range of outcomes was. The vet mentioned that her blood work was normal, and said that it was hard to give a prognosis until they checked her lungs while she was out for the lumpectomy. And now it’s the weekend, and the internet tells me that the worst case scenario is that Sandy could have a month, but I can’t figure out the best case scenario.
I know she has a potentially cancerous mass, and it’s getting removed. I know the worst case scenario. But what is the best case scenario? If the tumor hasn’t spread, will Sandy lead a normal lifespan?
Thanks, all.

2023.06.10 03:55 InevitablePackage701 Daisy update❤️
| We found the funding and her surgery is scheduled for Monday! However, I took her in this morning for her bi- weekly bandage change. And according to the vet when they unwrapped her leg the bottom half detached. From lack of blood flow😳 So she’s starting antibiotics tomorrow morning in prep for surgery. Vet said her outcomes looks great and feels like she’ll have no problems pulling threw. ❤️ submitted by InevitablePackage701 to TripodCats [link] [comments] |
2023.06.10 03:43 LatchHyena Looking for indie games that are "wholesome" and short (>10 hours)
I am always looking for more indie games to play that are on the shorter end (10 hours or less) and fall under the "wholesome" umbrella (lighthearted with a cute/colorful artstyle; doesn't necessarily mean nonviolent). I do not like games that deal with overly dark or depressing subject matter (for example, I was considering getting Spiritfarer because I like its artstyle and gameplay, but the themes of mortality and loss put me off of it). I also do not like games that are too difficult (such as Cuphead), and a game gets bonus points in my book if it prominently features animals and/or LGBTQ+ characters. I am mainly looking for games available on the Nintendo Switch, but I will also look into PC games. I will greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Here is a list of games I have played and enjoyed. A few only match two of the three categories (indie, wholesome, short), but I have included them anyway to give a better idea of what kind of games I like.
- Alba: A Wildlife Adventure
- Anarcute
- Bugsnax
- Button City
- Calico
- Capybara Spa
- Cat Quest I + II
- Deltarune
- Donut County
- Endling: Extinction is Forever
- Equilinox
- Gorogoa
- Grapple Dog (the first 60% of it; then it got too difficult for me to play without using the accessibility options)
- House Flipper
- Island Saver
- Katamari Damacy Reroll
- Later Alligator
- Lil Gator Game
- Lunistice
- Melatonin
- Mythic Ocean
- New Super Lucky's Tale
- Octodad
- Ooblets
- Paradise Marsh
- The Punchuin
- Pupperazzi
- Puppy Cross
- The Red Lantern
- Seal World
- A Short Hike
- Slime Rancher
- The Spirit and the Mouse
- Storyteller
- Stray
- Toem
- The Touryst
- Undertale
- Unpacking
- Untitled Goose Game
- Webbed
- Wobbledogs
Here are a few games I tried and didn't like, and why:
- ABZU: I was so bored with it that I almost fell asleep. I felt like all I was doing was swimming around and doing the same puzzles repeatedly.
- The First Tree: Dull all around. The gameplay consists of walking slowly through uninteresting environments and listening to pieces of an unengaging story.
- A Hat in Time: I strongly disliked the level design and thought the graphics looked unpolished.
- Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch: Full of bugs, underdeveloped mechanics, a ridiculous amount of backtracking, bad story.
- Say No! More: Very repetitive gameplay, and the humor got old for me after one level.
- Shelter: The busy textures on everything are difficult for me to look at.
These are in my backlog/on my wishlist (omitting games that aren't out yet as there are dozens):
- Beasts of Maravilla Island
- Chicory: A Colorful Tale
- Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator
- The Shape of Things
- Skye Tales
- Wandersong
- Wavetale
- We Love Katamari Reroll
- Wingspan
Here is some information about my genre preferences.
Likes:
- 3D platformers
- Action
- Adventure
- Collectathons
- Creature collectors
- Exploration
- Puzzle
- Rhythm
- Simulation
- Story-rich
- Strategy
Dislikes:
- Colony sims (they stress me out)
- Dating sims
- Fighting (i.e. Smash Bros.; just never something I found fun. I don't like learning combos)
- Horror
- Metroidvanias (I don't like backtracking)
- Point and click (especially ones where you click a spot and a character walks to it and you can't just move the character yourself; it really annoys me)
- Roguelike/lites (there are a few I like, but they have become very oversaturated and I never finish them)
- Visual novels
Picky with:
- 2D platformers (there are just so many of them and they rarely stand out to me)
- Card games (I don't have much experience with them)
- Farming (for me, a farming game needs other things to do besides farming i.e. the battles and creature collecting in Ooblets; I tried Story of Seasons and got bored quickly)
- Survival (I am mostly interested in survival games where you play as an animal; not really into "survival crafting" games since there are tons and tons of them)
- Turn-based combat (it has to be something really unique and engaging, like Deltarune; otherwise I get bored with it quickly)
Once again, thank you so much for any suggestions!

2023.06.10 03:27 Expert-Kick6854 Refusal to provide requested info
Is there a reason why hoa and its management attorneys are not providing me with requested pest control spray schedules as well as schedule of landscaping maitenance? Lived in hoa complex in fountain valley ca that has common ground roach infestation affecting my unit as they crawl into my unit patio. Initially hoa deflected and said roaches coming inside my unit. I called terminix and orkin to assess and both stated not from inside but from outside commin area grounds. Other occupants shared they have seen roaches while walking dogs as well as have seen roaches in swimming pool area. HOA finally admit that it is from common area and said they spray 2x a month but I continuosly see these bastard roaches in my front and back patio. I have requested for the schedules and as of yet have noy bern provided. Is HOA hiding something? Why resistant to providing pest control schedules as I believe I legally do have right to know? Greatly appreciate your guidance on this. Thanks.

2023.06.10 03:22 CalmDownThomas My kitten is potentially seriously ill
I have two 11 month old cats, a brother and sister. I took the boy to the vet today because he’d been puking more than a cat should.
His stomach is distended and X-rays showed a swollen spleen. The spleen thing is really not good. Waiting for his blood tests to come back, and scheduled an ultrasound to follow up a but can’t get in til the 20th.
He and his sister are my world. I’m scared. I came home and instead of shoving all my emotions into a pit somewhere, I just let myself cry a bit (it’s scary, it’s expensive, I’m having a disease flare so I’m in pain, work is stressful right now).
I’m not hungry and didn’t eat dinner. I also realized I didn’t think about wanting a drink either. It sounded terrible, in fact.
I’m gonna do the absolute best I can for him. Iwndwyt.

2023.06.10 02:30 helpmah Breach of contract, do we have to pay for the previous month despite damages, or can we send them a bill and deduct?
So here's the shortened version with what I hope are all the relevant details. My wife runs an equestrian business and partnered with a property owner nearby to us. The place was convenient to us in location and they did not have a trainer, mutually beneficial (or so we thought). Here's the legal set up, the boarding facility portion was ran by X, her mom, Y however is the actual property owner, owning the physical buildings, land, and all that. X wanted to be involved despite the fact that they know next to nothing about running a business or horses or really anything at all. This being said there was no physical contract written up, but there are many, many financial transaction records and long chains of text messages and agreements between the two. My wife started bringing in serious money to the place with her lesson program which ended up in more boarders coming in. Seeing the influx of money Y started paying for improvements to property to help the business along and even invested in a few horses. The arrangement ended up being that X will handle the boarding the facility to include doing chores and hiring out labor as necessary, my wife would split her revenue (not profit, revenue) 50/50 as payment for the boarding of the horses used for lessons, with additional payment for the horses that were owned by the barn. This partnership goes well until X goes off the rails and basically looses her mind and starts lying about my wife and her business partner to Y, a back and forth ensues and Y no longer trusts her daughter. Y then cuts X out of the business altogether to partner with my wife and her partner. Out of no where, Y goes back to believing Xs lies for whatever reason and tells my wife that she has 24 hours to move all horses and equipment off the property and puts up a gate, locks it and has a person posted at the entrance as security. Despite the fact that this "eviction" is illegal and a complete breach of contract my wife and her partner move all animals and equipment that they own off the property for the welfare of the animals. Throughout this partnership my wife and partner were trying to help out as much as possible and we're filling in for the care of the animals because X couldn't be trusted to do it right, we were also forced, on many occasions to come handle basic chores because X would randomly say that she can't do it and didn't schedule anyone. My wife also spent many, many hours training one of the barn owned horses with the assumption that her training the horse is improving it for use in her lesson program and to be used in shows, greatly improving the horses skills and abilities. So here's where we're at: my wife had communicated with X and Y that she was going to be running summer camps and had provided estimates of the additional income that would be brought in for June, July, and August. They knew that the camps were going to be happening and were preparing for them, they knew that my wife had collected over 7k in deposits. So when my wife was forced off the property I told her not to pay a dime of the May rent because the contract was breached. Again, while there was no formally written contract there are texts and emails of this information and a sort of informal contract and agreement was set in place. They are, of course, demanding payment for May. Due to the breach of contract, loss of money and actual damages: paying back the deposits after materials and items for the camps were already purchased in addition to obvious loss of income from her regular lesson program and the camp, is there any legal grounds for Y to actually come after her? The partnership was with X, who had an established LLC on the property, the contributions that Y made were essentially for the benefit of Xs business, but X is...to put it lightly, a spoiled and lazy person who's never had to actually work at all in her life. Our current retort is to send them a bill for the refund of the camp deposits (about double the lesson revenue), and include training costs for the horse and costs for us having to go to the property to work to do Xs work when she wouldn't. I do realize that we could have legally told her to pound sand and continue business as usual until an eviction notice came in, but with the welfare of the animals on the line and them adding physical barriers to the property it seemed way more important to remove the horses and put equipment. We don't have money for a lawyer, but they are filthy rich and obviously do. We are basically just going to cut our (massive) losses and move on with life, however, they are threatening legal action. We aren't going to pay, not this early in the game because we know that getting that money back will be basically impossible, but do we have standing to refuse to pay them because they breached the contract and agreement?

2023.06.10 02:21 awwaygirl Seizures out of nowhere
My 8.5 month one rescue puppy, Piper, had a series of at least 7 tonic seizures on Tuesday afternoon over a period on 2 hours. They started when she was napping. It took me a few minutes to realize she was having seizures for me to start logging and timing them.
I was able to get her to a vet for bloodwork within 2 hrs of her last seizure. We did multiple panels, especially focusing on her liver. All values were normal. Neuro tests in office were all normal.
Scheduled the bile acid test for the following morning. That indicated liver issues.
The vet suggested she may have a liver shunt, and referred me to another vet for an ultrasound.
What else might be at play? Trying to get a sense of types of issues may need to be addressed. Any other tests that I should consider? Googling shunts has been a bit scary, but I’m hoping since she’s a small and young dog, she’ll be able to weather this storm and have a long, healthy life. ❤️🩹

2023.06.10 02:20 Playful-Mess-8680 32 [M4F] cst/Canada/anywhere - Nerdy and flirty
I've been lonely lately and missed having someone that I can game with and shoot the shit with throughout the night. I love just hanging out on discord and playing or talking about our day. Some of my all time games are stardew valley, rimworld, apex, TFT, and don't starve. As long as it's multiplayer though I'm down to play anything! Right now I've been way to addicted to diablo 4.
Now I am also looking for a girl that doesn't mind some flirting. I figure I'd be upfront about so there aren't any confusions. I'd want us to feel comfortable roasting each other one sec and flirty the next.
A little about me. I work at a hospital so my schedule can be all over the place sometimes. In my space time I love to watch nba, play games, binge watch tv. I love listening to songs from the 90s and 2000s but l can listen to almost any genre. Oh and I love making really bad jokes or puns. Talk to me long enough and I'll make you eyeroll for sure Also age and location don't really matter to me. So if you're interested drop me a message

2023.06.10 02:18 Radtech51 At the end of my rope, long post
So this is going to be a long post because this issue dates back to 2017-2018.
In 2016 my husband brought home a stray cat that he found at a hotel while working out of town. The cat was being fed by the employees and she was very friendly. Coming up to rub against him meowing and letting him pet her etc. We got her spayed within 2 weeks of having her and got her shots and all other tests that were needed. We already had three cats, one female(Abby), and two males . We kept her separated for about a month and slowly introduced them all to each other. Abby was never an overly affectionate cat with any of the other two cats. However, she did get along with them. Not so with the new cat. There was some mild tension in the form of a couple of swats at each other here and there, but never anything serious. They tolerated each other. Then at the end of 2017 she started peeing outside of her litter box. I had to put a camera around the house to try to figure out which cat was doing it. I saw on the video that she peed on a pair of my husband's blue jeans that he left on the floor of the laundry room and she gave a little meow whenever she was peeing so I thought okay, she must be hurting. I took her to the vet and her urinalysis was fairly normal although the vet said she may have a little bit of inflammation. I told her about the stress between the two female cats and she said it could be stress cystitis. Which is basically a cat stresses themselves out so much that their bladder becomes inflamed. She gave her antibiotics and everything was fine for about a month, when it started again.
At the time we had six litter boxes for the four cats spread out into three different rooms. I tried no less than six different types of litters. All the litter boxes were open at the top...no hood. I tried pheromone sprays, pheromone plug-ins, CBD oil, bachs rescue remedy, calming chews, corn silk d-manose, cantharis, etc. I also tried to retrain her by getting a two-tiered crate and putting her litter box on the bottom floor and her bed on the top floor. I did this for 3 weeks. The first week she stayed in her crate all of the time. Every single time she needed to use the bathroom, she peed in her litter box. every single time. So on the second week I'll let her out into the room. She went back to her litter box in the crate every single time. The third week I'd let her out into the room, even when I was not in there with her. She still used the litter box every single time so I did not think it was litter or litter box aversion. So I'd let her out into the rest of the house little by little. She still used the litter box like a champ. So I could only assume that it was because of my other female cat. The doctor suggested Prozac and I did put her on Prozac at that time. She was on it for at least a year and a half and she was perfect. She did not pee outside the litter box for a year and a half. We moved to a new house in 2019. At that point we only had three cats. My oldest male cat died of cancer in 2018. She still was perfect at going to her litter box even with moving to a new house. Before we moved to the new house we purchased a litter robot. I thought it may help her because she may like a super clean litter box all the time and I worked during the day so I could not scoop it every time after she went to the bathroom. However, I did scoop three to four times a day. And remember she has six litter boxes to choose from. So the cats were all acclimated to the litter robot before we moved to the new house. At the new house We did keep her in a large room to let her get acclimated to the house and she seemed to do fine. When we moved to the new house we had two litter robots. One upstairs one downstairs.
Then at the end of 2020 she started peeing outside the litter box again even while on the Prozac. She had long stopped eating a treat that I would hide the Prozac in. So I had to start using a pill syringe to give her her medicine and that eroded her trust in me and she avoided me when she knew it was time for her to get her medicine. Of course I took her to the vet for another urinalysis and it came back normal. So I did the whole thing of putting her upstairs in a large bathroom with a cat tree in the window and a litter robot and plenty of room to stretch her legs. I did that for 3 weeks and when she came back downstairs she was fine for a few months and then she started peeing outside the litter boxes again. At this time I had one litter robot upstairs and one litter qrobot downstairs. I had cameras around the house and two of them were specifically aimed at the litter boxes. Sometimes she would go inside and poop, leave, then come back 5 minutes later and see that the robot had not cycled and she would turn around and pee in front of it. At that time, the robot was scheduled to rotate 15 minutes after the cat left. I changed that to rotate after 3 minutes. And I noticed that she would then poop, leave, It would rotate and clean and then she would come back and pee inside of the litter robot. So I thought great. Maybe that solved the problem. Maybe she did not like going to pee inside of a litter box that was dirty. Then I thought maybe she did not want to pee in the same litter box that she pooped in at all. So I purchased another litter robot. So then I had two upstairs and one downstairs. She seemed to use them more. She would go at least 2 weeks between episodes of peeing outside of the box. I did not see any conflict while she was in the litter box. Abby usually just avoids her. She will stare at her and I know that that is a form of aggression. But she never did that while she was in the litter box. However, my problem cat, Penelope, would be aggressive toward Abby. She had another urinalysis and blood work done in January of 2023 and everything was normal. So in February of 2023 she peed on a living room rug. It was only a month old. I had enough at that time so I took her and put her upstairs in the bathroom again. She stayed in the bathroom for 2 weeks. I had a camera in there with her. She went almost two days of holding her urine before she finally went inside the litter box. Never once in the 2 weeks did she pee outside the litter box. After those 2 weeks I open the door to let her into the bedroom that was attached to that bathroom. I had the bedroom door closed so she could not get out of that space. I went upstairs three times a day to feed her and to play with her. Our bond returned. It was at this time that I weaned her off of the Prozac. After all, Why use it if she was still peeing inappropriately while on it. Even with her having the bedroom and the bathroom. She still went to the litter robot to pee and poop every single time. Now starts month TWO. I block the entryway at the top of the stairs with a screen door. And I open up the bedroom so that she has the hallway, another bedroom, and another bathroom that also has a litter robot in it. The hallway was a great place for her to run full speed chasing a laser or another kind of toy that I might have. The screen door kept her from going downstairs and it allowed the other two cats to come upstairs to sniff her and hopefully reintroduce the two female cats. So the routine was three times a day, I went upstairs to play with her and to feed her. The entire 2 months she never once peed inappropriately, she used the litter box every single time. So after the 2 months I decided to let her downstairs for a couple of hours. She did well. She sniffed everything, but she never once peed on anything. We have a cat door that leads out to a screened in porch and she went out there for a short time. And then I put her back upstairs. I did this for a week, letting her down a few hours every afternoon when I got home from work. After that week, on a day when I was home all day, I'd let her down all day. She used litter boxes downstairs. She would use litter boxes upstairs. Her and the other female cat didn't seem to care that the other one was in the room. they've always been able to sleep on various pieces of furniture in the same room and it does not seem to bother them at all. In any case, she was 100% perfect for 5 weeks. Using the litter boxes all the time. Then out of the blue, seemingly, she peed on a blanket that had fallen off of our bed. Then a few days later she peed on one of those turbo chaser toys that the center has a cardboard piece in the middle, she peed in the middle part. Then a few days later she peed on the bare floor under the dining room table. I cleaned everything with a good enzyme cleaner and didn't smell anything else. But the next day I thought I smelled something but I could not find where it was coming from. Then I realize I had left a dusting mitt on top of the dining room table. She had gotten on the table and peed on that. So more enzyme cleaner. I emailed my vet in tears telling her that maybe she needed to refer me to a behaviorist or a specialist that could take x-rays, ultrasounds, and whatever test was needed to see if there was anything physically wrong with her bladder. We had only ever done an urinalysis and blood test but we had never taken an x-ray. Not that I think she has stones of any kind because after this many years there would have been blood white blood cells or something to show that she had a physical issue. So while I was waiting on the vet to return my email or call me, I used various calming sprays and calming choose and praised her every time she used the litter box. And she went almost 2 weeks using the litter box again. Then 2 days ago I'm going to my bed and she is underneath my side table peeing on the floor. I didn't mean to but it was an automatic response, I yelled NO! Well she stopped midstream and ran. Then yesterday as I was getting into bed she jumped on the bed and meowed and I pet her and thought that she was coming up to settle down for the night. But no, she went to my husband's side of the bed and peed on top of our comforter. I took it off immediately before it could soak through and of course she ran. Are comforter is white and they're not seem to be any blood in the urine. It was typical yellow, stinky cat urine. So I had no choice but to put her back upstairs in the bathroom again and that is where she is going to have to stay until we can figure out a solution for this problem. Otherwise she is going to destroy my home. When I went upstairs this afternoon to feed her I closed the bedroom door and opened the bathroom door so that maybe I could play with her. She didn't seem interested in playing she walked around meowing....obviously I'm sure she is stressed. So I got on the bed with her she got on the bed and I was petting her She then jumped off the bed and proceeded to walk over to where I had a small box on the floor and she squatted and she peed on the carpet. This does seem somewhat behavioral to a degree, but her peeing in front of me is new and it makes me think she's trying to tell me something. In the past she has always peed while hiding or when I'm not home or when I'm in another room. This time she has peed three times in front of me.
I just wish I could figure out why she all of a sudden became neurotic in 2017 .
Has anyone ever had a cat that peed inappropriately that ended up being a physical issue and not a mental issue? At this point I would love it to be a physical issue because I think that one is obviously much easier to probably fix. A mental issue I feel is much harder especially if medicines do not work.
Some basics about Penelope are: Approximately 8-year-old spayed female
Her diet is all wet food. Including raw lamb, pork, chicken, and a variety of canned foods. I use dry food as treats. So she will sometimes get three or four pieces of small kibble. I would put them in a puzzle and she figured the puzzles out very quickly.
She weighs approximately 13 lb which is too heavy for her. She gained a lot of weight in the last year and a half. And I think I know why now. We have microchip pet feeders for all three cats. So only her microchip will let her into her bowl. However, I noticed a few weeks ago that she will go over to my mail cat's bowl and wait for him to stick his head past the sensor and then push him out of the way and puts her head in there before the door can close over the food. So it's no wonder that she has gained a lot of weight.
She's a diluted calico
Making her an outdoor cat is not an option.
Rehoming her is not an option. No one is going to want a cat that has a pee problem
Putting her down is not an option.
Are there any other kind of test that any of you can recommend besides x-ray, ultrasound, urinalysis, and blood work? The x-ray and ultrasound I definitely want to get. I am definitely willing to do another urinalysis and blood work. I'm just wondering if there's anything else that might be beneficial. I love my vet and don't want to start all over with a new one. She is not the fastest to return my phone calls or emails. She's a mobile vet and that is one of the things that I love. I also love that she does not push me to get unnecessary vaccinations. And I also love that she is receptive to anything that I want to try. In other words, she is not pushy at all, like some other vets that I have gone to. So there is a compromise in that regard. However, going to a specialist is what I would like to do and she will refer me to one when she gets back to me. I would appreciate any constructive advice that anyone can give me. If anyone has any questions they like to ask me to get more information, please ask away. I really do not want to have a cat that I have to regulate to live the rest of their life in one room. It is not good for the cat and it is definitely not good for my quality of life either.
If you've made it to the end, Thank you so much for reading and helping if you can.

2023.06.10 02:10 Radtech51 At the end of my rope, long post
2023.06.10 01:13 Economy_Sky9335 I have severe work-related anxiety. How can I avoid homelessness?
I am already 36 years old and have never been able to support myself. I was a shut-in for 7 years until my controlling and abusive mother died. After she passed, I was finally free to live my own life. I started taking steps to improve my health, which had deteriorated over those 7 years, and to gain independence.
It has been 5 years since my mother died. In that time, I have been slowly improving in many aspects but my issue with employment persists. I wake up every morning with panic attacks and racing thoughts because I feel like I don't know who I am or what I am supposed to do. I don't know what kind of work I should be doing. I will spend countless hours ruminating over this, nonstop. When I am able to finally decide on something, I will feel hopeful and motivated, but then the anxious thoughts start overtaking me again. "What if I should be doing something else? Why did I choose this? I have chosen the wrong thing. I should have chosen this other thing. Now my life is destroyed." On and on like that until I am mentally exhausted and dissociating.
I have tried multiple jobs and classes, and each ends in failure because I have severe social anxiety on top of this debilitating career choice anxiety as well. I have no idea why I am like this. Does this sound like obsessive compulsive disorder (inability to make a decision)?
I want so badly to be financially independent. To pull myself out of poverty and live on my own. My living conditions are so poor. I have a desire to live, to be married, to have a job I can enjoy and find my work meaningful. I fall into despair because my mother robbed me of my youth. She never wanted me to leave her and kept me terrorized and helpless. I never got to marry or have children. I never got to try different jobs and figure out what I enjoy. Now I am almost 40 years old and out of time.
I wake up every day feeling desperate and confused and frantic because the clock is ticking. I don't know who I am or where I belong. I am completely alone. My life is my own now but this debilitating anxiety is destroying any chances I have left. I feel certainty about other things, but it's the occupation choice that is stealing my days from me with nonstop fear, racing thoughts, researching careers over and over again.
I have a useless bachelor's degree. Right now I am earning a certificate in paralegal studies. I chose it because I thought it was an in-demand profession and it was something I could pay for myself and not have to take on more student debt. I can also finish it in a year. I finished my first semester with straight A's. Sometimes I will feel like it's interesting and I like it and that it's what I want to do. Then I hear people say it's a horrible job, working long hours with demanding attorneys. I start thinking I am too dumb to do this kind of work. That I'll be mortified when I go into a professional workplace and can't do what is asked of me. I can't imagine myself interviewing clients when I have social anxiety. Etc. Etc.
I'll go to the library to study and start thinking I should have been a librarian. I didn't pursue it because it requires a masters degree, which I cannot afford, and because I hear it's a very competitive job market. Regardless, I'll get racing thoughts about how I should have done that, how I've destroyed my life now because I'm trapped doing this meaningless office work I'm going to hate, start researching my options, feeling envious of people working at the library, etc. That's how the thought process goes for me.
When I finished college, I wanted to get an associate's degree to become a registered veterinary technician. I am passionate about animals. I never pursued it because everything I read said that it's a very low paying profession, so I would not be able to support myself as a single woman doing it. I am envious of people who do this work.
My last job, I was an apprentice at a dog grooming salon. It was hard work, but I was doing well (even though I didn't believe it). I was managing my own schedule of clients every day. But then I made a mistake at work (got some soap in a dog's eyes). It caused some irritation and the dog had to be taken to the vet to have his eyes rinsed. The managers didn't care at all. They said it was no big deal. Told me not to quit. That this sort of thing is part of the job. Even professional groomers have accidents. They said my team loved me, etc.
I went back to work, but then I started dissociating, feeling like I was animal abuser and that the animals deserved better than me. I walked off the job and never went back. I destroyed my opportunity to work with animals. I was excited to be learning a trade where I could feasibly support myself AND be able to work animals. My career anxiety dissipated even though I still had daily performance anxiety at work.
I have had interview opportunities to work as a bather at other salons to try again. But every time I will drive to the building and break down and dissociate, unable to go inside. I keep burning bridges. I yearn so much for an identity and purpose. I don't know what to do, but I fear my story will end in suicide.
Before all that, I took classes in web development and IT support. I failed both because I could not handle my social anxiety. Everything I try ends in failure, leaving me back at square one and scrambling to try and quickly figure out who I am and what I should be doing.

2023.06.10 01:03 squeezy102 Why does talking to townsfolk dismount me?
There is nothing more annoying in this game than the fact that talking to townsfolk to turn in quests or receive quest assignments dismounting me from my horse.
There's literally no reason for it. Are you telling me you can't talk to people on horseback?
Why do I have to re-mount every time I talk to someone?
This is absolutely fucking ridiculous. Please fix this immediately.
There's no reason I can't talk to somebody on my horse. Its fucking stupid.

2023.06.10 01:01 DentMan06 7 year-old Husky mix - sudden anxiety w/ known trigger
Hello, all! I hope you are all doing well. Here is the situation:
Cali (my pup that has the issue): Breed: 50/50 Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute mix Age: 7 and change Sex: female (spayed) Breed: 50/50 Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute mix Origin: we adopted her at around 16 weeks old from a home operation. Based on meeting the family at the time, and other factors, we had no reason to believe Cali was ever abused there. The family told us that she was part of a litter of someone else and that they took her in to foster when she was about 8 weeks old.
History: At age 4, I brought another pup into our home (Siberian Husky named Smoky) when he was 8 weeks. The two of them have been buds ever since, no issues at all. I got divorced in 2019, kept the pups, no major change in behavior. 2.5 years ago, my girlfriend and I moved in together (she has an Aussie and an Aussie/Mini Poodle mix). Outside of a few chest bumping sessions between Cali (who has always been more of an alpha personality) and Lucky (the Aussie) in the beginning, no major issues. They get along great, play, etc. Another important point to make is that my girlfriend's 2 daughters stay at our home every other week due to custody agreement. They are now 8 and 12, absolutely love Cali and Smoky, and they love them.
Issue: With all the above said, we have noticed, started in April a couple of months ago, we noticed that Cali would randomly appear to be anxious. Symptoms include the following: -Tail tucked -Staying close to me (not 100% of the time, but she will come to me and be near me) -Will jump up on me to get closer to me, for instance, when I am at my office desk -Looking at me the same way your dog would probably look at you when they really want to go outside -Will not come inside. On Easter this year, she literally went outside at 9AM and didn't come inside until 9PM. She will come to the door and act like she wants to come in, but as soon as we attempt to open the door, she will run away. She will even bark at the door like she wants to come in or for Smoky to come out, but the result is the same.
One pattern we have noticed is that she doesn't exhibit this behavior during the weeks when the girls are not at the house. The last 2 weeks that the girls have come, Cali's anxious behavior starts almost immediately when they come in. When the girls to come home and come inside, Cali is very excited to see them, will run up and greet them, get pets, etc, but very quickly she turns into anxious Cali.
Worth noting as well that there are some days on the weeks that the girls are here that she is better than others.
We figured it could be the energy level of the girls, which is a possibility, it is just strange that this has only started to make her anxious recently when we've lived together for almost 3 years with no issues. No major change in the home, no abuse going on, well fed and well loved... it just has us puzzled.
We have scheduled a vet visit just in-case there is something we are missing. Google search has brought up Age Induced Anxiety, and that may be the case at 7.5 years old, I suppose.
Any ideas as to why Cali would (apparently) suddenly start this behavior? THANK YOU FOR READING AND FOR YOUR HELP!

2023.06.10 00:37 breedecatur A tale of an incredible f up by Synchrony
Hi! I thought I'd come on here to share a word of warning in regards to Synchrony Bank and their line of credit cards. A brief search in here shows I'm not the only one this happened to but it's always worth a new person bringing up in case theirs new viewers to a sub.
Six or seven years ago I applied for, and was given a CareCredit card through synchrony. I really valued that card, it had a relatively high limit for someone in their early 20s ($8k) and was an appreciated safety cushion for unexpected vet and medical/dental expenses. In the first few years, if I carried a balance it was low. In 2018 I had to have some dental work done that after insurance was much more than anticipated, and put that $6k on the carecredit card. I stayed on top of payments, granted not much over minimum because the minimum was $200 a month and of course was right at the same time as rent, but I never once had a negative mark on my account. In 2021 I decided to do a credit card consolidation loan, mostly because the APR on it was significantly lower than the APR on my CareCredit card. Paid it off in one lump sum, and a few months later charged a vet bill to it just to keep the card open. Carried that balance for a bit, paying over minimum but letting some roll to the next month because, really, how often do you use a card dedicated for medical expenses?
In February 2022 we found out my husband had to have surgery. Unfortunately our insurance company doesn't accept carecredit, but it's okay. We decide to buy a new couch that pulls out so when his mom comes to help she isn't on an air mattress or our shitty couch. Off to Jerome's we go. Pick a nice, but cheap, couch... maybe $500-600 out the door? Oh if we pay it off in 6 months with their card we can get 0% APR? Sure! Apply for the card, get immediate approval for the Synchrony Jerome's card, fast forward to September we send in the last payment before the promotion expires. Super easy, honestly never even activated the cards they sent us. I had no intention of closing this card, the extra available credit always looks good.
By this point the CareCredit card was paid off, but every month I still check the accounts of paid off cards because you never know. The account is closed. Gone. My unexpected medical expenses safety cushion is gone. I call and ask why. Im googling while on hold and finding out this is happening to tons of other people. They can't give me a straight answer, I ask for it to be reinstated, they tell me to apply for a new one. My credit isn't as good as it was when I still lived with my parents, not to mention as far as I'm aware having that closed account on my report isn't the greatest. I say no, reinstate my account. They say they can't do that. I ask for a supervisor, the supervisor was rude, I ask for their supervisor, they say they'll schedule a call. I never received that call. In my anger I call back and close the Jerome's card, vowing to never do business with Synchrony again.
Fast forward to yesterday. I receive a letter from Synchrony stating that the account that I applied for in February 2022 should have never been approved that my approval was "made in error." Somehow nearly a year and a half later they've decided that an account that was opened, used, paid off, and closed... was an error.
How do you mess up that badly? How do you approve someone and then decide later "shit sorry, didn't mean to do that"? How do you just close good standing accounts for no reason?
I've since called and confirmed that both accounts are fully closed and were closed in good standing, but yeah. Fuck Synchrony, they're an absolute disaster.
