Missing mom Suzanne Morphew's daughters and husband Barry have broken their silence three years after she vanished and murder charges were dropped against him.
Barry Morphew, 55, was charged in May 2021 with murder of his wife Suzanne, who vanished while out on a bike ride in Salida on Mother's Day 2020. Her body has never been found.
Last year, prosecutors dropped all charges against Morphew after a judge sanctioned the district attorney's office for discovery violations.
Now, he and his daughters have spoken out about the ordeal - and how Suzanne had made 'bad decisions' because she was struggling with drugs and chemotherapy while battling Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Barry Morphew, 55, the husband of Suzanne Morphew, has filed a civil rights lawsuit seeking $15M claiming he was wrongfully charged with Colorado mom's disappearance and murder
When asked how the ordeal has left them, daughters Mallory and Macy told ABC: 'Very very sad. Very confusion.'
'So traumatic. Literally our worst nightmare.'
When asked if he had anything to do with the disappearance of his wife, Barry said: 'Absolutely not. It's very hurtful to lose your reputation and your integrity.'
As they were asked if they ever questioned if their dad was not innocent, Mallory and Macy said: 'I've never had a shred of doubt.'
'Not one.'
Speaking about the prosecutors, Barry continued: 'They're wrong. They've got tunnel vision. They looked at one person and they've got too much pride to say they're wrong and look somewhere else.'
When asked about Suzanne, he said: 'We had a wonderful life, a wonderful marriage. She was just so loving and giving, and such a good mother. I know that she was going through chemotherapy for the last couple years before her disappearance.
'She was really having trouble with the chemotherapy and the drugs.
'I know she was going through some hard things and made some bad decisions.'
Barry said that his heart was 'broken' when he found out his wife was having an affair.
He said: 'My heart was broke. My heart was broken. I didn't believe it.'

The area where police think Suzanne's body may be is thought to be near the abandoned mine that was previously searched. Police say they are waiting for the snow in the area to melt before they can excavate it
When asked what the hardest part has been, her daughter simply said: 'Just not having mom.'
This comes after Morphew filed a $15million federal civil rights lawsuit against more than 20 prosecutors and law enforcement officials for 'irreparably' tarnishing his 'name and reputation' with a 'conspiracy to violate his state and federal constitutional rights.'
The 185-page complaint claims that the authorities conspired to wrongly arrest Morphew, that they fabricated evidence, concealed exculpatory evidence and conducted a reckless investigation, all which led to Morphew being wrongly prosecuted.
'As result of the Defendants' conduct Barry was charged, arrested, and prosecuted, and his property seized, for a crime he did not commit,' the lawsuit says.
'As result of the Defendants' conduct Barry spent five months in jail, approximately 6 more months wearing a GPS ankle monitor with severe restrictions on his movement, and almost a year defending against the criminal charges. To this date, Barry's property remains in the CCSD's possession.'
The lawsuit claims that Morphew's 'name and reputation has been irreparably tarnished in Colorado and all around the country.'
Those named in the lawsuit including Chaffee County, the sheriff's office and board of commissioners, 11th Judicial District Attorney Linda Stanley and her staff, and Colorado Bureau of Investigation and FBI agents.

2023.03.01 01:56 KindaSleuthy DISCOVERY DOCUMENTS - Part II
Discovery Documents - Part II
The subject of AK’s questions was left open.
AK’s questions don’t necessarily indicate guilt. However, a detective might use them to do further research. I imagine that CCSO, CBI and the FBI have already done so.
My thoughts on AK’s questions are below. I’ll put aside my firm belief that Barry is guilty.
(1.) Where did the dirt/rocks observed on the trailer come from after the trailer and Bobcat left DSI, CLEAN, on Saturday 5/9/2020?
(Barry may have graded a little dirt when he got home to make sure the blade was installed correctly.) (At one point in the past, AK questioned a patch of loose dirt off of the Morphew driveway. AK opined that it could have been a hole bored for body disposal. LE did a grid search with cadaver dogs, both in May 2020 and again in July 2020 …. Making it unlikely the body was buried anywhere close to the Morphew property.)
- Why was it imperative to get the blade changed that day?
(Blade edges wear out - they get ragged and it causes a poor final-grading results. Replacing blades is normal maintenance. I’m sure that the blade installer would have remembered if it didn’t need replacing.)
- Why cut the power to the telematics from the bobcat, making it untrackable, on Saturday, specifically?
(The primary purpose of a Bobcat’s GPS is anti-theft. It can also be used for staking the corners of the job site. The blade may have a contact wire that creates an alert signal if the blade is removed/stolen. The blade installer would likely cut power to the alert.)
(In addition, AK himself has pointed out that the GPS longitude/latitude from the truck and Barry’s cell both had dead spots, jumping around and errors. The Defense would have a field day with that.)
- Why did licensed cadaver dogs (3) hit on the trailer dirt, the bobcat bucket, and the bobcat drivers seat?
(8 to 15% of “hits” are false positives. Also, the Chaffee Sheriff held a press conference that summer where he stated that all of the positives were false alarms.)
- How long would it take for enough cadaverine to be produced from a deceased body to allow licensed cadaver dogs (3) to make said hit.
(This subject was beat to death here and on Websleuths. It mainly depends upon the temperature and whether the corpse was wrapped in a plastic tarp. Unwrapped (not likely) at the temps. that Sat/Sunday, the range was 12-14 hours. Well wrapped (likely) at those temps. … 24-48 hours which makes it very unlikely it would leave a trace in the 14 hour timespan.)
