Some notes on Reminders (2023) vs Things 3
Since iOS 17 and MacOS Sonoma are out, I decided to try and move to Reminders (in combination with Notes) for my work related tasks and notes.
Here on Reddit I saw quite a few people that are thinking about switching, so I decided to write down a list of some opinions and things I noticed.
Your situation might be different from mine, and there is a lot of stuff that I don't need in Reminders, so keep that in mind when reading this. Some of these features might actually be really useful for you.

Reminders, keeps improving (even if with just one update per year) but Things is still a much better task manager.
Apart from the workflow that Things “forces” you into, there are a lot of small or big issues in Reminders that you can’t always solve with a workaround.
And, even if you solve those, Things smooth UX and simple UI are still the best you can find in the App Store.

My setup

Here a screenshot of my setup. Please note that it's not Sonoma, since it's from my work device.

The big things

  • Projects: Since Lists in Reminders can’t be completed they shouldn’t be used as projects. My solution is to create a task (project) with subtasks (action items).A few problems with this:
    • Subtasks can’t have their own subtasks, which is quite limiting when handling large projects.
    • Smart Lists don’t have a way to filters parent tasks (I’m trying to add a Project tag to these items, but it’s a bit of manual work that I’d like to avoid).
    • Also, this makes the List Template feature, in my opinion, basically useless.
  • Start Date and Deadline: While Reminders added a Remind earlier feature, this is not comparable with what Things offers.A task with a deadline, in Reminders, will still appear only on that day when the deadline is set.
  • Tasks hierarchy: When adding a subtask to Today, for example, it’s impossible to navigate back from it to its parent task. This is extremely frustrating.

The small things

  • Workflow: Things 3 is designed around the GTD workflow and, once you get used to it, it’s really difficult to move away from it. Sure, you can use work-arounds in Reminders, but it’s not going to be as smooth.Currently I do this:
    • For the Inbox, I created
    • For Someday items, I created a tag that I can quickly access from the sidebar
    • For Anytime items, I created a smart folder, which filters all items that are not tagged with Waiting and don’t have a date assigned to them.
    • For Next actions, I use the flag option (this is almost the same as in Things, where I would use a tag).
    • It's nice that you can also recreate Things shortcuts to Inbox, Today, etc. by pinning these items in the sidebar.
    • As mentioned before, you can’t mark a List as completed and, also, you can’t mark a task as Canceled.
  • Quick Entry: While you can create a shortcut for this, it’s still not as good as with Things.
  • Group Today by time: In Reminders, it’s possible to automatically split Today’s view in three sections (Morning, Afternoon, Evening). When I realised these automatically set a reminder for a specific time of day, I quickly disabled it.
  • Badge Count: I strongly believe you should avoid being stressed by the apps you use, which is why I love Things feature of only show a badge count for items with a Deadline for today. In Reminders this is not possible.
  • Editing an item: Even if Reminders offers recognition of dates and tags (still, not as good as Todoist), learning a few keyboard shortcuts in Things offers a lot more power to quickly edit your tasks.

The extra things

  • Same as with Things, you can drag and drop items to the Calendar app, which is great for time blocking.
  • Headers in lists allows you to split areas in sections, which is missing in Things. But since I can’t split down projects (as they are tasks with subtasks) this is less useful than headers in projects as Things has.
  • Smart Lists are a nice addition but for now I just recreated what we have in Things. I guess they would be essential if you try and fit both your personal and work related tasks in it, but I like to keep things separate.
  • It’s nice to have a dedicated URL field that appears in the main view for you to quickly jump into things.
  • Sharing something with Reminders automatically creates a link to that item (displayed with an the app’s icon in the reminder) which is nice.
  • I try not to use Priorities since I don’t want to spend too much time thinking “Hey, is this a P1, or a P2?”. Sometimes I give a task a P1 if it’s extremely urgent but I think a flag would be enough (but I already use that for Next actions.
  • Having used it only for a short time, I haven’t tried Kanban views yet, but I doubt I am going to use them much. It would be nice to use them when working on a big project but, since I don’t use Lists for that, it’s not going to be as useful.
  • The new Groceries Smart List is a nice addition but it’s clearly not something worth moving over for.
  • Same as for Things, Reminders doesn’t work with Focus modes, which looks like a missed opportunity.
  • I don’t use Location based reminders, Shared lists, or Remind me when messaging a person, so I don’t have anything to share about those.

2023.06.08 10:42 Boring_Pipe_5449 IIS authentication forward

Hi community,
thanks for reading!
I have an application running on a Windows Server with does not support any authentication at all. Therefore I build an IIS reverse proxy in front of it which is using Windows authentication. Everything worked fine until a new addon was installed to the application. Now, I am always sent back to the Windows authentication pop up when trying to open the addon page and gives me a 401 error although entering the right credentials. For me it looks like there is some kind of username / password coming with the link to the new module which kills my authentication.
As soon as I change IIS from Windows authentication to Anonymous authentication it works.

2023.06.08 10:04 Remarkable_Ask2752 zed dac v2 lights up blue/green even though I don't have mqa tier subscription in tidal

zed dac v2 lights up blue/green even though I don't have mqa tier subscription in tidal
As the title says, my ifi zen dac v2 glows green or blue (depending on the track) when playing a master track on tidal, but I don't even have mqa tier subscription and in app it says hifi while playing (as it should). I did not install any software, just plugged in the dac in my win 10 pc. I doubt this is some sort of glitch that lets me play mqa for free, rather a bug in dac software?
Also worth noticing it defaulted to 32/48, but when I tried changing to 32/44 the sound became very distorted/skipping often etc. Returning sample rate to the default 48 made everything work fine again, so I'm a bit scared of changing anything at this point, considering al the negative experience I've read about this product.
I also notice some bass boost compared to all other dacs I've listened to (truebass button is not engaged). There is no sound enhancement option in windows settings. Could this be some default windows setting that will resolve with installing ifi drivers, or it's just the way this dac is? Again, I prefer not to install any software if not needed.

2023.06.08 09:59 hobogster S22 Samsung Galaxy sometimes won't notify/push notifications

I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S22 snapdragon version, the regular smallest one, and I am having some problems with notifications.
My phone sometimes won't notify when I receive messages. But sometimes there is no problem at all. It's just random. Sometimes I get notifications normally but sometimes I don't. I only find out I have messages when I open the app. This only happens on 2 apps (so far): facebook messenger, and the google gmail app.
However, on the messenger app, even if it won't notify, there is an "in app sound" that let's me know that I have received a message. That sound when you send a message, that is the sound it plays instead when it doesn't notify. In the messenger app > hamburger icon top left > settings gear icon > notifications & sound settings > in app sounds > toggle on or off. If I turn off the in app sounds, then it won't play that sound anymore, so I leave it on. But it's still not a substitute for a real notification. For the gmail app, I haven't bothered with that since I don't use it as much yet.
I am starting to accept that it may be just my phone since nobody else is reporting the same. But still, it's an expensive phone and it sucks that this could just be a quality control problem.
Notifications from other apps work just fine, samsung sms app, phone app, telegram, instagram, yahoo mail, banking apps etc...
I have tried everything
Factory reset the phone, reinstall the app, update the phone, update the apps, clear cache, wipe cache, optimize apps, allow all permissions, appear on top, tried using a different launcher (Nova), using different networks, wifi, wifi 6, 4g lte, 5g ( I was thinking maybe internet speed was a factor), "keep open" on so it's always on the background but still won't work. I've went through every setting and nothing has changed
I've had this phone for a year, had the problem since then. Can't find a pattern, sometimes it notifies sometimes it doesn't.
Does anyone know why this happens? And does anyone also have this kind of problem?

2023.06.08 09:16 lo_es Alarm clock notification icon?

Alarm clock notification icon?
There’s an alarm clock notification icon at the top of the screen, have never seen it before so I think it’s an watchOS 10 feature. You can click on it and it takes you to the alarm clock app. I don’t really get why it’s there though. There’s no alarm set for the next 6 hours or so. And it won’t go away. Force closing the app doesn’t remove it.
Any else experiencing this?

2023.06.08 08:47 TheShadowspawn Chapter Fifty-Two – Negotiations Part 2

Human Dave: “I don’t think this thing fits me anymore, Commander.”
Human Dave enters the hallway, after having changed into more official clothing in anticipation of the diplomatic negotiations.
Commander Beckett: “Nonsense. It fits just fine, Anders.”
HD: “Yeah, as long as I don’t need to breathe or anything.”
Human Dave manages to get a finger in between his neck and the collar of the official robes he used to wear back when he was a diplomat; in an attempt at loosening the choking sensation he was feeling around his throat.
Commander Beckett slaps Human Dave’s hand away from the collar of his robes.
CB: “You’ll rip it if you keep fiddling with it.”
HD: “… never thought I’d live to see the day when you act like a mother hen, Commander.”
CB: “As the person in charge of you for about half of the bullshit you pulled during your Specialist days, I was doing nothing but.”
HD, grinning: “Yes, but I never saw that, did I?”
CB, exasperated: “Get your arse into that damn conference chamber, Anders.”
HD: “Wait. Did Terran High Command have anything for me? Shouldn’t I get some kind of list of what we want?”
CB: “Personally, I’d just be happy if we don’t go to war with them. Terran High Command, however, has decided to leave it to you to decide what’s best for us. As the only human who has interacted with the Keltiss in any significant manner, you know more about them than we do, which means that you will have the best chance at getting the best outcome for Humanity.”
HD: “… brilliant. No pressure, then.”
Alien Captain: “Human Dave, I do not understand why you wish for me to accompany you for this negotiation.”
HD: “That’s an easy enough question to answer, Captain. Did you still want to do the negotiations on your own?”
AC: “Absolutely not. The Keltiss will devour me, and enslave my people.”
HD: “They really won’t, Captain. They have far too much respect for you, as the one who tamed the beast that ended the Hunt. Hell, they might even fear you, since you decided to bring the little guy along.”
AC: “… is this why you are bringing Minnie along with you? For the intimidation factor?”
HD: “… maybe?”
AC: “Human Dave, will this not cause undue stress to the Keltiss, who are to be our future allies?”
HD: “… now that I think about it, it’s probably not the best of ideas. I’ll just go put her back, and we can get this show on the road.”
Commander Beckett walks up to the pair as they are moving back towards Captain’s ship.
CB: “There you are. Come on; they’ve already waited too long as it is.”
HD: “Wait a second, Commander. Just have to drop this little lady back to the ship first.”
CB: “There’s no time, Anders. Just bring it with you.”
Commander Beckett grabs Human Dave by the arm, and all but drags him along.
The Viscer-Tel on Captain’s shoulder squawks as Human Dave, Commander Beckett and Minnie continue down the hallway without them.
AC, to himself: “Well, this will either go wonderfully or terribly.”
No sooner than after Commander Beckett had all but dragged Human Dave to the conference chamber, the pair encountered a familiar face.
Keltiss War-kin: “Ah, Human Dave. It is good to see you once more.”
HD: “War-kin. I didn’t know you were coming along. If I had, I would have come to greet you earlier.”
KW: “My presence here is a formality, Human Dave. As the official witness, I am the one who will vouch for Humanity to enter an alliance with the Scattered Tribes. Should the negotiations fail, I will be punished, as the one to offer the alliance.”
HD: “Then I’ll do what I can to make sure that the negotiations are successful. The last thing I want is for anyone here to get hurt.”
KW: “I am honoured that you would treat one such as I with such importance, Human Dave.”
HD: “Anything I should know before we go in?”
The War-kin sees the Aflarrian in Human Dave’s arms, and bares his teeth in a facsimile of a grin.
KW: “By bringing the nightmare beast, you start from a position of power. The various Chief-kin will respect this power-play, and know the prowess of Humanity.”
AC: “… and what of this one, War-kin?”
The War-kin looks at Captain, and immediately recoils at the sight of the Viscer-Tel on his shoulder.
KW: “… by virtue of its mere presence, Captain, you will be honoured as Master of the First Hunt, and be afforded every respect a Keltiss is capable of giving.”
CB: “Well, if we’re all done now, get in there, Anders. Go break a leg.”
Commander Beckett walks off after saying this, leaving behind one slightly nervous human, and two very confused sentients.
AC: “Human Dave, what did Commander Beckett mean when he said for you to ‘break a leg’?”
KW: “Does your commanding officer wish for harm to befall you during the negotiations?”
HD: “No, it’s a figure of speech. He’s hoping I do well, and said ‘break a leg’ as a way of wishing me good luck.”
AC: “… seems a strange way to wish someone luck, Human Dave.”
KW: “Agreed.”
Human Dave hands off Minnie to Captain, and rubs his hands together in a nervous manner.
HD: “Well, come on, then. We may as well get this over with sooner rather than later.”
As the doors to the conference chamber slid open automatically, Human Dave walked in to see very many Keltiss of differing types.
The red-scaled War-kin standing imposingly along the borders of the chamber.
The white-scaled Shaman-kin, all seated in a small ring near the entrance to the chamber.
The grey-scaled Elder-kin, whose focus seemed to wane with every passing moment.
And the Green-scaled Chief-kin, all wearing elaborate headdresses made of the bones of various large animals.
As Human Dave enters, all eyes turn to him, and his composure slips for a moment, before he recalls his training, and strides into the room, calm as can be.
HD, to himself: “Remember what the data packet said, Dave. They’re direct, and respect bluntness.”
Human Dave walks up to the podium situated in front of the crowd of Keltiss in front of him.
HD: “I am Human David Anders, the designated voice of Terra. Who speaks for the Keltiss?”
The Designated Speaker stands up from his seated position, and turns to face Human Dave.
KS: “I am Chief-kin Ta’or; Designated Speaker for the Scattered Tribes of Keltiss. We have come to forge an alliance with Terra.”
HD: “Terra asks the Designated Speaker of the Keltiss: what are the terms of this alliance?”
KS: “The Keltiss demand mutual assistance, and a pact of non-aggression. Terra’s enemies will be enemies of Keltiss, and the enemies of Keltiss will be the enemies of Terra. When one side fights, the other will fight alongside. Nothing more, and nothing less.”
HD: “…”
AC: “…”
KW: “Are the terms acceptable for Terra?”
HD: “… is that all?”
KW: “... are our demands too extravagant, Speaker for Terra? We Keltiss are a warring people, and we may have enemies, but we do not wage war lightly. If the terms are too much, then we will—”
HD: “No, Designated Speaker. The terms are more than acceptable. It’s just… we humans expected your terms to be more… well, we expected to have to do a lot more to secure an alliance with the Scattered Tribes of Keltiss.”
KS: “The Keltiss may be nothing more than scattered tribes, but we are an honourable people. We do not kill for the sake of killing. And we do not demand anything more from our allies than we would not be willing to do ourselves.”
HD: “I can see that. The terms are accepted, Designated Speaker.”
KS: “Then, henceforth, our alliance is forged!”
The Keltiss present all let out roars of happiness, spooking both Captain and Minnie, who jumps out of Captain’s arms and runs to Human Dave for protection.
One of the Chief-kin sees this, and begins to panic.
Keltiss Chief-kin: “NIGHTMARE BEAST!”
The surrounding War-kin stand at attention and start scanning the room, looking for the threat.
Human Dave crouches down and picks up Minnie, to the horror of the surrounding Keltiss.
KS: “Speaker for Terra, do not move!”
HD, smiling: “It’s alright, Designated Speaker. This one is with me.”
Human Dave starts stroking Minnie, and a purring trill escapes her, much to the fear of the surrounding Keltiss.
Captain steps forward, and raises his arms in a placating manner.
AC: “Honoured Keltiss, the Aflarrian- the Nightmare Beast has been tamed by Human Dave. It will not prove to be a threat unless you intend to harm it, or Human Dave.”
The words seem to calm down the Keltiss somewhat, until they realise where the words originated from, and see the creature on Captain’s shoulder.
The surrounding Keltiss all stiffen, terrified of drawing the attention of the creature sitting calmly on Captain’s shoulder.
The Viscer-Tel cocks its head, looking around at what was a room filled with movement, which has now all stopped.
The War-kin that entered with Human Dave and Captain speaks up for the first time.
KW, bowing lowly: “Honoured Chief-kin, Revered Elder-kin, Treasured Shaman-kin, brother War-kin; the Viscer-Tel upon the Cradelian’s shoulder is the same one spoken of when the Hunt was witnessed. It will not bring harm upon any here unless provoked.”
Keltiss Chief-kin, panicked: “How are we to know what will provoke the creature?”
KW: “Do not bring harm upon the Cradelian, or the Human voice for Terra.”
Silence reigns throughout the conference room, before the Designated Speaker breaks it with a question.
KS: “This Cradelian is the Master of the First Hunt?”
HD: “Correct, Designated Speaker.”
KS: “… he speaks for his people?”
HD: “Also correct, Designated Speaker.”
AC, whispering: “Human Dave, what are you doing?”
HD, whispering: “Trust me.”
AC: “…”
HD: “Captain speaks for his people, but as we can all see, the various creatures we have had to bring with us have derailed the negotiations somewhat. What are the terms for an alliance with the Cradelians?”
KS: “The same as with Terra.”
Human Dave nudges Captain with his elbow, and tilts his head in a manner that seems to indicate to Captain that he should agree.
AC: “The terms are accepted, Designated Speaker.”
KS: “Then, henceforth, Cradelian, our alliance is forged!”
The room is filled with silence at the proclamation, as none of the surrounding Keltiss seem to want to do anything to draw attention to themselves in the presence of two apex predator species.
Human Dave, Captain, and Commander Beckett are walking through the hallways leading back to the Trailblazer’s docking bay.
HD: “Well, that went better than expected.”
CB: “You’re telling me. They couldn’t wait to get off the Trailblazer fast enough after the negotiations were finished.”
HD: “That was partly your fault, Commander.”
CB: “Me? What did I do?”
HD: “You didn’t let me put this little lady back on Captain’s ship. Almost caused a diplomatic incident; letting an apex predator into a room full of diplomats.”
CB: “What? This little thing?”
Commander Beckett extends his hand towards Minnie, and gives her chin a little scratch.
Minnie leans into the touch, and begins to purr, happy with the attention she was getting.
AC: “At least I do not have to go through with that on my own cradle-world.”
HD: “Aren’t you glad you trusted me, Captain?”
AC: “… I suppose I am, Human Dave. Thank you for the help.”
HD: “Now, how are we going to let the Galactic Community know about the alliances forged today?”
CB: “Oh, they should already know. Terran High Command should have made an announcement that should spread throughout the Galactic Community within the next few days.”
HD: “I’ll bet that’ll go over well with everyone. Especially anyone already allied with Terra.”
CB: “Terran High Command will just have to smooth over any ruffled feathers when it happens.”
HD: “Speaking of ruffled feathers; Captain, aren’t we late for a cargo shipment?”
AC: “… crap.”

2023.06.08 08:17 WorldCitiz3n Buggy dock

Not sure if there's a fix for that, but my dock sometimes is not showing all of the icons. Usually one is missing and I have to close other app (to remove it's icon from the dock) so the missing one pops in their place.
Its happening when I've got 5 icons in the dock, 4 icons in the dock, 10, so the amount doesn't matter.
Do you know if there's a fix for that?

2023.06.08 08:14 gordonni Slow or unresponsive to edit devices or automations in New Home Architecture

Hi! I updated Apple Home to the New Architecture with iOS 16.5 and in general everything seemed to work with the setup of Apple TV 4K by ethernet and 4 HomePod Mini hubs.
The issue is, whenever I go to edit the name, icon, room or screen placement of a device, it does not save or reverts back. Same happens with automations that are slow to save or cannot be saved with error message ”Could not complete operation”. When opening Home app I often see for 2-5 seconds all devices with status ”Updating…”
To be clear, the devices can still be controlled and most automations and scenes work although some with delay. Cameras load quicker too. Something keeps changes from saving efficiently.
I found out searching the web that Apple offers a way to clear all possibly corrupt Home data by configuration profile and yesterday I did this ”nuclear” option. For the first steps of re-creating as new home it was reasonably fast and responsive but in the end slow again and failed to save the names/rooms etc for devices and reverts back.
I have 181 accessories (HomeKit, Hombridge, Home Assistant bridge and Matter), 30 scenes, 68 automations.
Has anyone else faced these issues or could suggest something else to try fixing it?

2023.06.08 08:02 ContestableTungsten6 A change to non-aggression pacts

Non-aggression pacts don't add much variety to the game. When you sign a non-aggression pact with someone, all you get out of it is tensile trust. The pact is kind of just there... and does nothing. When someone breaks the pact, all that changes is that the pact is gone.
I have a few ideas for adding variety to non-aggression pacts and making them more than a little green icon on your username.
  1. When you sign a non-aggression pact with a player, it is impossible to attack each other for an amount of time (maybe 2 minutes?)
  2. When you sign a non-aggression pact, you may give each other resources, but only once for a limited amount to prevent teaming.
  3. When you break a non-aggression pact, you can't sign another pact again with the same player.
Any thoughts on this?

2023.06.08 07:38 doomer_claire [TotK] Tears of the Kingdom got some wacky lore stuff going on

As the title suggests, I think Tears of the Kingdom completely destroys any consistency in the story of Breath of the Wild, and in turn the rest of the Zelda timeline, and is by nature pretty goofy. Allow me to explain my points. I do have to preface, I do not and never will on my own volition own a Wii, and thus have never played Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, or Skyward Sword. I realize that doesn't help my case at all as someone claiming any level of authority on Zelda lore, but this post aims to illustrate that the lack of knowledge I have on the lore of those games doesn't even matter.
One thing that has been floating around in the Zelda lore community over the past six years since Breath of the Wild released was the tapestry depicted the original battle between the hero and the great calamity, ten thousand years before the events of Breath of the Wild. It is often believed that this specific hero was a Zonai, due to his odd looks and green arm reminiscent of Rauru's. Problems arise when in Tears of the Kingdom, we see that the red hair of the hero in the tapestry, often attributed to the Zonai by the Barbarian armor set isn't actually a trait the Zonai had. From what we know of the Zonai, their hair was white rather than red, albeit we only get to see two of them. Moreover, they were scholars rather than warriors, building machines to work for them, comparable to those built by the Sheikah to do battle, although it is made clear in TotK that the Zonai gave machines a much greater presence in their lives than the Sheikah did, with the constructs (what the Zonai call their machines) working as soldiers and servants, rather than just soldiers.
The Barbarian set itself introduces some contrivance into the lore by indication that the Zonai came from and resided within the Faron region in the Southeast reaches of Hyrule. It's impossible to say whether or not there is any truth to this, because we only ever see two Zonai, but their ruins are all across Hyrule, underground and above. There very well may have been a point in time that the Zonai only lived within the Faron region, but they did not come from it. Historically, according to Tears of the Kingdom, the Zonai were an advanced civilization that came from the sky. Unfortunately, it's impossible to say what it means to say that the Zonai came from the sky. Would it make them aliens, like those seen in Majora's Mask? Were they like the people of Skyloft? If so, why was there no record of any large structures having been in the sky at any point from the founding of Hyrule to the Great Upheaval? Was the Faron region just unexplored by the Zora, Rito, Goron, or Hylian nations before the Zonai built a complex flying machine to fly them out of the region and into what is now Central Hyrule, and everyone there thought them to be gods when they landed? Forgiving me for calling it convoluted, but I think that explanation is indeed too convoluted to be correct. Unfortunately, taken at face value, it seems that the Barbarian set doesn't reference the Zonai at all, being that its description mentions warriors from Faron and the Zonai are specifically referred to as advanced scholar demigods from the sky. Rauru and Mineru themselves fight with magic instead of weapons, which seems to be within their regular abilities rather than granted by their secret stones, seeing as it is made clear that secret stones only amplify abilities rather than granting them, though this falls apart when applied to Ganondorf, whom I can guarantee did not have an innate ability to summon monsters and turn the moon red.
My point with all of this is that the hero seen in the tapestry of the great calamity cannot possibly be a Zonai, because the figure does appear to be a hero with red hair wielding a blade. The Zonai are shown to have done very little fighting of their own, and very little usage of swords (in fact, the only Zonai swords in-game belong to constucts) along with a lack of red hair and an unlikelihood of having created or worn the Barbarian armor set. Truthfully, none of that matters at all since if we account for the events of Tears of the Kingdom, the great calamity possibly didn't happen ten thousand years ago anyway.
Many Zelda fans have decided that the events of Tears of the Kingdom's memories occur ten thousand years before those of Breath of the Wild, and whether it's actually stated in-game, or the time between TotK's Imprisoning War and Link's triumph over Ganondorf is just stated to be "thousands of years" does make a pretty big difference, however if we assume the events are ten thousand years apart, unless upon being sealed away Ganondorf immediately manifested Calamity Ganon, I find it hard to believe that it happened in the first place. We know the original great calamity had to have happened during or after the reign of Rauru, due to the presence of Hyrule Castle in the tapestry. Along with the Divine Beasts, guardians, and towers also present in the tapestry, nowhere to be found anywhere within the present or past of Tears of the Kingdom, I think it is safe to say this casually accepted ten thousand year gap cannot be the case, and that TotK's Imprisoning War happens before the arrival of the great calamity. That's fine, but... If it's the same Imprisoning War as the one mentioned in prior Zelda games, more problems arise. There's the obvious issue that Ganondorf didn't get sent to any other realm, he just got placed under the castle, and then other issues like the presence of a Rito sage which would be impossible if we are to assume the Rito "evolved" from the Zora when the Great Sea showed up sometime after OoT, and there is no real reason not to believe that, seeing as the series' writers have confirmed it. The only way at all that the Imprisoning War of TotK happens after the entirety of the rest of the Zelda timeline, with the implication being that Hyrule fell to ruin and was rebuilt by the Zonai, who have never been present before in any Zelda game at all.
Another big issue arises on the topic of the Sheikah and their technology. This is one that has been debated for a while now. The question goes: After Breath of the Wild, what happened to the Sheikah towers, shrines, guardians, and Divine Beasts? It has only been a few years, and it seems like it would be difficult to fully get rid of them all in that time. The generally agreed answer is that they were removed and used to build the new towers present in TotK. This answer is really dumb. Those towers are significantly smaller than the ones in BotW. Shrines also contain vast underground areas that could not be "removed" or refilled within the span of a few years, and they contain the bodies of one-hundred and twenty-four possibly dead or alive mummified monks, which would no doubt constitute them as sacred places unfit to be destroyed. The Divine Beasts are also the only resting grounds for the Champions' spirits, a fact that pretty much everyone in Hyrule knows. Only two of the Champions even have memorials outside of the Divine beasts, those being Mipha and Daruk, and Daruk's memorial was defaced by Yunobo. For Revali and Urbosa, their Divine Beasts are the only memorial they have, and unfortunately all but Mipha seem to have undergone the third death. It seems odd, then, that the Divine Beasts were not also considered sacred and left undisturbed. In other words, it's a question that still remains unanswered, and I personally believe that's because it's a retcon. They weren't removed, the writers just want us to accept the new continuity they've designed in which they were never there.
Also, for another contradiction to Breath of the Wild, the Zonai are referred to throughout BotW as mysterious and unknown, pretty much only referenced in item descriptions. Tears of the Kingdom retcons all of that. Pretty much everyone recognizes Zonai ruins when they see them. Talk to most NPCs, they'll have something to say about the Zonai. Even Zelda knows a hell of a lot about them at the start of the game. Pretty much every major character has accepted that the Zonai founded Hyrule, when literally nothing in the previous game indicates that.
Finally, let's look at how Tears of the Kingdom contradicts its own lore. Possibly not inhabited by the Zonai, the Faron region contains imagery that makes it clear that the people there worshipped the dragons, specifically Farosh. The one implication that those are Zonai ruins comes with Mineru's quest, in which Link has to go around the Dracozu river looking for some explicitly Zonai armor. However, if they are Zonai ruins, issues associated with dragon worship become MUCH bigger, but even if they aren't, there are still issues with the concept of dragon worship. Put simply, if you eat a secret stone you become a dragon and lose everything, and that's universally agreed to be a bad thing. So, the dragons were people who ate secret stones. But that's forbidden... So why would they be worshipped by anyone...?
On the topic of secret stones, what's up with Ganondorf? He puts on a secret stone and suddenly becomes a demon king with the power to create red slime and spawn monsters and turn the moon red. Anyone else puts on a secret stone, they can make a gust of air, or roll fast, or move some water, or strike lightning. Why is it that Ganondorf suddenly becomes a deity when he wears one? Is it his connection with Demise, his innate abilities only manifesting as those of his original form? In that case, why is it that the Triforce only turns him into a pig guy? One seems vastly superior to the other. I just personally believe there is no good reason to make Ganondorf the Demon King, since he shows two feats throughout TotK's memories: leading a group of Gerudo who control a swarm of molduga with a pungi like snake charmers. And it's not Ganondorf who plays it. And making a puppet Zelda. That's it. It seems overboard to give him control of the moon. And it is the moon, it's not a puppet moon. You could say everything he makes, monsters included, are just puppets, but the issue is the extent of his power. Rauru is considered a god by Hyrule and the best he can do is sacrifice himself sealing one guy away. One guy. Ganondorf gets armies. Rauru gets to seal one guy and make an explosion and die. Yunobo gets to roll, but he can do that without the stone. Sidon gets to make a bubble. Again, he can do that without the stone. Riju gets to strike lightning, and she too can do that without the stone. Tulin gets to make gusts, but he too can do that without the stone. Sonia can rewind stuff, but Link can do that without a stone. Mineru gets to attach stuff to her construct body, something that I kid you not EVERY CONSTRUCT CAN DO. The stone doesn't let her have the body. She could already do that. The stone isn't even really what lets her attach stuff to it. Really, it does absolutely nothing for her. Period. So why does Ganondorf get armies and the power to manifest whatever he wants? That's silly. I'm sorry, really, it's goofy. Kohga can do all kinds of wacky stuff, if that guy got a secret stone I think Hyrule would legitimately be doomed, judging by the logic of Ganondorf and his silly rock. The would would transform into a giant spiked ball or something. Genuinely, the difference of power between the level of amplification on Ganondorf's abilities and the level of those amplified for everyone else is so drastic that I consider it contradicting to the game's lore, because once again, Rauru is considered a god and his power is dwarfed by Ganondorf's.
I'd love to hear your opinions, and I know someone's gonna say mine doesn't matter because I haven't played the Wii games, frankly I don't care, I included only a few references to them that pretty much every Zelda fan knows. Really, I'm not the most versed in Zelda lore and this is not in any way my attempt to appear as an authority on it, but I do think someone with authority on Zelda lore such as Zeltik should look at TotK through a critical lens because it's goofy. I've seen very little but praise posted about this game everywhere but this sub, and as someone who enjoyed playing it I personally do not think the praise is warranted.

Software on PC shows my phone inside Geofence, yet the profile is incorrect.
Is there a way to force the PC app to repoll for current device location(s) and set the profile accordingly? I can use the phone app to select the correct profile, but every time I go to run (green play icon) it reverts back to the wrong profile.
I've had this same problem on and off for well over five years with several versions of Blue Iris. Somehow my iPhone crosses the fence but doesn't change the profile.
